Some of the stuff you have to read between the lines 00:00:23.760 --> 00:00:30.080 because I don't want to spell out certain spiritual realities too plainly because I 00:00:30.080 --> 00:00:34.640 don't know who all will be listening to this and how they'll decode what is being said. 00:00:34.640 --> 00:00:41.120 But that said, let me just go ahead. So Isaiah 62 verse 6 to 7, and I'll stop in between if you 00:00:41.120 --> 00:00:48.800 have questions. Isaiah 62 verse 6 to 7. Let me start at yeah, verse 6 to 7. I have posted 00:00:48.800 --> 00:00:55.200 watchmen on your walls of Jerusalem. They will never be silent day or night. You who call on the 00:00:55.200 --> 00:01:01.520 Lord, give yourselves no rest and give him no rest till he establishes Jerusalem and makes her 00:01:01.520 --> 00:01:07.200 the praise of the earth. Look at what God is saying. God is saying, listen, I want you to 00:01:08.480 --> 00:01:13.360 persist and provoke me into action. I'm giving you permission to give me no rest. 00:01:13.840 --> 00:01:19.520 Very rarely do you hear that, eh? Because usually what you hear is people saying once you've prayed, 00:01:19.520 --> 00:01:23.200 it's a prayer of faith and you don't need to pray it again and again. Or sometimes people say, 00:01:23.200 --> 00:01:26.720 you've got to pray again and again because you need to persist with shameless boldness. 00:01:26.720 --> 00:01:33.520 Both are correct. Neither is wrong. But here God is saying that, listen, I have posted watchmen 00:01:33.520 --> 00:01:39.440 on your walls of Jerusalem. They will never be silent day or night. So the idea of today's 00:01:39.520 --> 00:01:48.000 teaching is to let Acts 29 for sure know and let other churches that are listening know that, 00:01:48.000 --> 00:01:55.040 listen, during a time like this, we don't wait it out. During a time like this, like I said last week, 00:01:55.840 --> 00:02:02.320 we don't sit back and say this too shall pass. During a time like this, it is insufficient 00:02:02.320 --> 00:02:08.880 to just observe the rules that are good but aren't enough to undo what is being done. 00:02:08.880 --> 00:02:16.400 During times like this, at least one of the rules given to this church is to take an active 00:02:16.400 --> 00:02:25.520 stance against that which is happening spiritually so that God can undo as he did in Egypt the 00:02:25.520 --> 00:02:32.800 spiritual might of the powers involved before he undoes the military might in Egypt's case and in 00:02:32.800 --> 00:02:42.640 this case, the condition of this virus called COVID. One of the things I've been telling myself 00:02:42.640 --> 00:02:49.280 is, Jacob, speak unashamedly of spiritual realities. Don't hedge your bets because 00:02:49.840 --> 00:02:56.720 there are so many voices out there that sometimes to say these things takes a little courage because 00:02:56.720 --> 00:03:03.120 who are we? Who am I? Yeah, but that's, don't answer that. It was just a rhetorical question. 00:03:03.120 --> 00:03:12.480 No, Diana, I wasn't asking a question. Okay, so Isaiah 62 verse 6 and 7, God is saying, listen, 00:03:13.120 --> 00:03:17.520 now that you are watchmen on the wall, because I've trained you for this church, I've trained you for 00:03:17.520 --> 00:03:23.280 this, I've been talking about this for years on end and now I want you to be watchmen on the walls 00:03:23.280 --> 00:03:27.920 of Vancouver, watchmen on the walls of Greater Vancouver. If you're from Sydney, then Sydney. 00:03:27.920 --> 00:03:33.520 If you're from Singapore, Singapore, Bahrain, UK, wherever you are, Lithuania, Brazil, wherever you 00:03:33.520 --> 00:03:39.840 are, God is asking you to now be watchmen on the wall and he says, do not give me rest, do not give 00:03:39.840 --> 00:03:44.720 me rest. Neither should you rest because you should keep persisting, keep praying this through, nor 00:03:44.720 --> 00:03:53.040 should you give me rest till I establish my will in your city. And so does that mean that if we don't 00:03:53.040 --> 00:03:58.800 pray or if we don't follow Isaiah 62 verse 6 and 7 that God won't do anything? Because that's another 00:03:58.800 --> 00:04:05.040 way of thinking, that I guess if we don't pray, God will not do anything. Not true. If God only moved 00:04:05.040 --> 00:04:11.600 when we prayed, civilization would be dead by now. If God only moved because we prayed, then a whole 00:04:11.600 --> 00:04:17.280 lot of people wouldn't recover. Here's the strange thing guys, God wants us to pray so that we can 00:04:17.280 --> 00:04:22.560 participate in what he's doing and the way we participate in what he's doing is by finding out 00:04:22.560 --> 00:04:28.160 what he wants to do, then agreeing with what he wants to do and then walking with him as he does it. 00:04:28.160 --> 00:04:33.920 Did you hear that? Here's what God is saying, listen, I want you to participate with me but here's how 00:04:33.920 --> 00:04:39.920 you participate with me. You find out what I want to do and then you begin to speak it. That's what 00:04:39.920 --> 00:04:45.600 prayer is, speaking or executing the will of God. Find out what I want to do, agree with me then on 00:04:45.600 --> 00:04:51.120 earth in terms of what I want to do and then walk with me as I do it. And so the intent of God is, 00:04:51.120 --> 00:04:58.160 listen, if you become watchman on the wall and join me in praying, in persisting, in finding out what I 00:04:58.160 --> 00:05:05.280 want, then you get to be part of this adventure because I'm going to do it either way. And that aside, 00:05:05.280 --> 00:05:10.560 a church that begins to participate like that has the ability to accelerate the purposes of God 00:05:10.560 --> 00:05:17.520 here on earth. One of the things that Mary, the mother of Jesus does in Cana is even though it was 00:05:17.520 --> 00:05:26.000 not time, she hastened the disclosing of the first miracle that the son of God did here on earth. 00:05:26.640 --> 00:05:31.520 He goes to her and says it's not my time yet and she turns to the servants and says do what he says 00:05:31.520 --> 00:05:38.720 because she had made a request. So watchmen on the wall have this dual purpose. One of having 00:05:39.520 --> 00:05:45.680 this ability to participate, speak, execute what God wants to do on earth and secondly they have 00:05:45.680 --> 00:05:50.320 the ability to accelerate what God wants to do on the earth and God is only willing to do it. 00:05:54.160 --> 00:05:57.520 That's where this title comes from. Let me read that scripture once again so you don't forget it. 00:05:57.600 --> 00:06:01.440 I have posted, so if he were talking to us, here's what he would say, 00:06:01.440 --> 00:06:04.880 I have posted you as a watchman on the walls of Vancouver. 00:06:08.000 --> 00:06:14.960 You better not be silent day or night, you who call upon the Lord. Guess how it ends? It ends in a city. 00:06:40.640 --> 00:06:44.640 When you go to revelations 21, you see a city coming out of the heavens. 00:06:44.640 --> 00:06:49.760 God started in a garden, he ends in a city. Remember Psalm 127, 1 where it says, 00:06:49.760 --> 00:06:59.040 unless the Lord keeps the city, the watchman might as well go and take a nap because if the 00:06:59.040 --> 00:07:05.280 Lord ain't keeping the city, then the watchman watches in vain. What I'm trying to say is guys, 00:07:06.080 --> 00:07:12.960 know that God is seriously interested in keeping this city but he would love for us to be in 00:07:12.960 --> 00:07:17.920 the city but he would love for us to be watchmen who can participate in the adventure of God. 00:07:17.920 --> 00:07:21.040 Here's the thing guys, when we don't participate in the adventures of God, 00:07:21.040 --> 00:07:29.520 we don't even have a record of it. That just saddens me eh? What scares me most is that 00:07:29.520 --> 00:07:35.680 God is doing such amazing things on earth and the church does not even know it because they 00:07:35.680 --> 00:07:45.520 to participate in the adventure of God. The church often takes its cue from Jacob at 00:07:47.040 --> 00:07:52.000 Bethel where he said, God was in this place and I did not even know it. 00:07:54.000 --> 00:07:57.120 One of the things I love doing in the morning is getting up and finding out 00:07:57.120 --> 00:08:01.840 the adventure that God wants to go on so that I can be part of that adventure. 00:08:01.840 --> 00:08:08.160 And during a time like this, man I know what God is up to. Some of the videos you guys need to watch 00:08:08.160 --> 00:08:13.200 so that you get a hang of it. Read between the lines or if you're really desperate call and ask me. 00:08:15.200 --> 00:08:22.640 But at the end of the day, we will not even be able to chronicle the history of God on earth 00:08:22.640 --> 00:08:28.960 through us if we don't participate in the adventure that God is on because he ain't staying 00:08:29.200 --> 00:08:35.360 silent through this. So yes, different churches have different roles. Some churches may have the 00:08:35.360 --> 00:08:42.480 role of distributing food and medicines and masks and toilet rolls and sanitizers and I mean it 00:08:42.480 --> 00:08:47.120 very seriously and groceries to different places. That's the role they play. There are other churches 00:08:47.120 --> 00:08:53.760 that are crying out to God for revival once COVID is over. Other churches that are speaking, 00:08:54.080 --> 00:08:58.880 once COVID is over. Other churches that are speaking, healing upon people who are dying. 00:08:58.880 --> 00:09:04.640 Other churches that are strengthening and lifting up first responders. But our role, I know, is to 00:09:04.640 --> 00:09:11.280 undo the spiritual power behind the physical reality of COVID. And in that we have to be watchmen on 00:09:11.280 --> 00:09:15.440 the wall. Others have different roles. This is our role. That's why I want to go down this way. 00:09:15.440 --> 00:09:25.760 I mean, look at God. In Jonah chapter 4 verse 11, Jonah is not very happy with the city of Nineveh 00:09:25.760 --> 00:09:31.040 and the city of Nineveh was about 120,000 people. That's about the size of Delta. 00:09:32.480 --> 00:09:40.320 Delta has 100,000, yeah, just a little less than 120,000 people. And in Jonah 4 11, God says, 00:09:40.320 --> 00:09:47.600 God words it this way, hey Jonah, should I not be concerned about the city of Nineveh 00:09:47.600 --> 00:09:52.400 with its 120,000 people that do not know their right hand from their left? As in, 00:09:52.400 --> 00:10:00.640 they are innocent in this. I understand that sin brings judgment guys, but we got to not take 00:10:00.640 --> 00:10:07.440 every plague that comes and then say, this is God's judgment on people. Nineveh was a city that was 00:10:07.440 --> 00:10:13.680 sinful man. And yet look at what God says through Jonah, to Jonah in chapter 4 verse 11, they do not 00:10:13.680 --> 00:10:18.880 know their right hand from their left. Meaning, sure they are a sinful, wicked, pagan, heathen nation, 00:10:19.760 --> 00:10:26.720 but they don't know their right hand from their left. As in there is a sinful yet innocent condition 00:10:26.720 --> 00:10:31.760 sometimes that falls upon humans. And this is when God says, you have no idea how concerned I'm about 00:10:31.760 --> 00:10:37.120 the city. You think he doesn't say that about Vancouver. I'm not trying to get you to become 00:10:37.120 --> 00:10:44.240 emotional about Vancouver. I'm just saying, come on church, for days like this we were born, for days 00:10:44.240 --> 00:10:52.000 like this we have been taught, for days like this we must rise up. I remember Jeevan once saying to 00:10:52.000 --> 00:10:57.200 me, Jacob, it's okay that you are fighting, but you need to raise warriors. And I'm saying, this church 00:10:57.200 --> 00:11:02.080 better rise up because this is our time to prove our mettle. You know, you can go to 00:11:04.240 --> 00:11:11.200 war school forever, but you're proven in the battlefield. And times like this allow us to the 00:11:11.200 --> 00:11:21.680 degree of strength that we have to begin to flex our muscles that we have grown over the last two years. 00:11:22.320 --> 00:11:27.040 And anyways, when it comes to cities, it's always been a contest between two cities. When you go to 00:11:27.040 --> 00:11:34.800 Revelation 17, 19, 17, 18 or 19, 18, I think it says there that there is a city called Babylon. 00:11:36.560 --> 00:11:46.160 In Revelation 17, 5, it talks about Babylon or a system being like a city that is full of 00:11:46.240 --> 00:11:53.920 abominations, full of evil. And then there is another city that God established and you read about it in 00:11:53.920 --> 00:11:59.440 Hebrews chapter 12 verse 22, where it says, hey guys, don't you know that you have come to Zion, 00:11:59.440 --> 00:12:05.680 the city of the living God? It's always been a contest between cities. Why am I setting you up 00:12:05.680 --> 00:12:10.400 this way? Because I want you to know that God is seriously interested in cities. I don't know where 00:12:10.400 --> 00:12:15.280 you're listening from, but God is seriously interested in your city. But every city has walls 00:12:15.280 --> 00:12:24.640 and every wall has a watchman. And now you see why it makes sense to go to Psalm 24 and to 00:12:26.240 --> 00:12:32.240 on a day like Palm Sunday, begin to quote from Psalm 24 verse eight or nine where it says, 00:12:32.240 --> 00:12:39.040 lift up your heads, lift up you ancient gates. Let the King of glory now come in. Who is this 00:12:39.040 --> 00:12:46.240 King of glory? The one strong and mighty battle. He's the King of glory. Join now with the rest of 00:12:46.240 --> 00:12:51.680 the church in saying this day honor God till this COVID thing is complete. And then we'll have another 00:12:51.680 --> 00:12:56.400 battle to deal with later. And the strange thing about all these battles is they're all one. We 00:12:56.400 --> 00:13:05.360 are supposed to execute them or fulfill the wish of heaven here on earth. These are not strenuous battles. 00:13:05.920 --> 00:13:14.640 These are battles that need to be endured. We'll talk about that another day. But on a day like Palm 00:13:14.640 --> 00:13:22.160 Sunday, on one hand, stand on those walls and open those gates, ancient gates of Vancouver. I wanted 00:13:22.160 --> 00:13:28.800 to talk about Vancouver's original purpose in the eyes of God, but I wasn't able to 00:13:29.360 --> 00:13:34.960 get anything definite on it. So maybe we'll talk about it another time. But what is God's original intent when 00:13:34.960 --> 00:13:40.960 he in his mind knew that there would be a city called Vancouver and that you guys would be living in the city at this time? 00:13:40.960 --> 00:13:54.960 We'll talk about that another day. But here's the thing. Stand on those walls this week and begin to say, oh God, the only one who enters the city and begins to reign over it. The only one who decides what happens to the city is Jesus Christ. 00:13:54.960 --> 00:14:14.320 The king. And we say to the gates of the city, lift up your ancient doors, let the king of glory come in. And we say to ancient demonic doors, we shut you. We shut you because Jesus Christ is seriously concerned about this city of two million like he was over Nineveh. 00:14:17.120 --> 00:14:24.240 And then with shouts of Hosanna, we begin to say, blessed is he who? The Christ who comes in whose name? In the name of the Lord. 00:14:24.960 --> 00:14:39.360 Hosanna in the highest. Behold your king riding on a donkey. Any questions before we go on to how do we what are we supposed to do as watchmen on the wall before we go there? Any questions? 00:14:54.960 --> 00:15:19.760 No? Okay. So guys, here are different ways that you are supposed to be watchmen on the wall. And as I read them out, I want people who are watching this, to be able to see that they are watching this. 00:15:19.760 --> 00:15:38.560 Okay, so I read them out. I want people who are listening to begin to decide, okay, these are the things I will choose to do this week, and I will give him no rest. There are nine or 10 things you can choose from. 00:15:38.560 --> 00:15:58.160 But based on what you choose, begin to practice it for God's sake and for the sake of the city. And so the first point I want to make is from Jeremiah 29 verse seven, Jeremiah 29 verse seven. Look at what it says, and these were people who were being taken into exile. 00:15:58.160 --> 00:16:16.560 And like it or not, Paul says that we are citizens of another kingdom in exile here. Jeremiah 29 verse seven, and here's what it says. This is required of you guys. This is required of me. Jeremiah 29 verse seven. 00:16:16.560 --> 00:16:42.160 Also, seek the peace and prosperity of the city to which I have carried you into exile. Pray to the Lord for it, because if it prospers, you too will prosper. So there are two words said there. It says on one hand, Jacob, make sure you seek the peace and prosperity of your city. 00:16:42.320 --> 00:17:09.880 And then the second thing he says is make sure you pray, because as your city prospers, you prosper too. Strange, eh? How this is part of the prosperity gospel, which is hardly ever mentioned. But part of the equation of the prosperity gospel is that you begin to seek first God's face for the peace, the shalom, some versions say, or the welfare of Vancouver. 00:17:10.880 --> 00:17:31.120 Seek his face, saying, Oh God, at this present time, what do I need to find from you that begins to tell me that this is how I need to pray to bring shalom into the city, welfare into the city. And how do I pray, Father? Now that I know and I've sought you, now help me to pray this, speak this. Stand in your balconies. 00:17:32.120 --> 00:17:46.640 Instead of beating pots and pans or lighting lamps, stand in your balconies and pray for the prosperity of the city, for the peace of the city. I love the word shalom or welfare, because it kind of conveys more of God's heart. 00:17:47.640 --> 00:17:58.160 Because then it goes on to say, because if you begin to pray that way, then know that you will prosper too. So that's the first preliminary step. And we got to do this once or twice a day this week, eh? 00:17:59.160 --> 00:18:09.680 Church, these are the times when who we are is proven. Otherwise we are a bunch of guys who really get very good teaching and do nothing about it. 00:18:09.680 --> 00:18:26.200 Second, go to Genesis 1832, Genesis 1832, and you see Abraham there bartering with God for Sodom and Gomorrah. And so in Genesis 1832, it's a very good teaching. 00:18:39.680 --> 00:19:01.200 It says that, Genesis 1832, it says in verse 30, then he said, may the Lord not be angry, but let me speak. What if only 30 can be found there? He answered, I will not do it if I find 30 there. 00:19:01.200 --> 00:19:14.720 Abraham said, now that I have been so bold as to speak to the Lord, what if only 20 can be found there? He said, for the sake of 20, I will not destroy it. Then he said, may the Lord not be angry, but let me speak just once more. What if only 10 can be found there? He answered, for the sake of the 10, I will not destroy it. 00:19:14.720 --> 00:19:35.040 If you go further up, you see in verse 23, let's start at verse 23. Then Abraham approached him and said, will you sweep away the righteous with the wicked? What if there were 50 righteous people in the city? Will you really sweep it away and not spare the place for the sake of the 50 righteous people in it? 00:19:35.040 --> 00:19:48.480 And then verse 26, if I find 50, I will spare the whole place. Then Abraham spoke up again. Now that I've been so bold as to speak to the Lord, though I'm nothing but dust and ashes, what if the number of the righteous is five less than 50? 00:19:48.480 --> 00:19:56.080 And then he brings it to 45, then he brings it to 40. Guys, the reason I'm reading the whole thing is, Abraham knew the character of God, eh? 00:19:57.040 --> 00:20:10.400 In a time when people had no idea of who Yahweh is, Abraham now gets to know who Yahweh is. And how did this man, in such a short span, get to know God the way he gets to know it, man? 00:20:10.400 --> 00:20:22.400 It's not like the Holy Spirit dwelt in Abraham then. The Holy Spirit was drawing him, he drew him out of the ear of Chaldees. But here is a man who gets to know God and he knows how wicked Sodom is. 00:20:22.400 --> 00:20:30.400 Abraham is under no illusion with regard to the wickedness of Sodom. And yet Abraham knows the strange characteristic of Yahweh. 00:20:30.400 --> 00:20:40.400 And the characteristic of Yahweh that he's using to barter is the mercy of God. That here is a God who is ridiculously merciful. 00:20:40.400 --> 00:20:50.400 And that is what then emboldens Abraham. And have you noticed how it first has him go in increments of ten? He starts from increments of five. 00:20:50.400 --> 00:21:02.400 He starts from fifty to forty-five. Forty-five to forty. And then from forty, now that he's emboldened and he knows the mercy of God, he goes from forty to thirty, thirty to twenty, twenty to ten. Why? 00:21:02.400 --> 00:21:12.400 Because now this man knows that here is a merciful God, I am in negotiations with him, I started with increments of five, I'm going to double it and make it increments of ten. 00:21:12.400 --> 00:21:42.400 And he goes from twenty to twenty to twenty to twenty to twenty to twenty to twenty to twenty to twenty to twenty to twenty to twenty to twenty to twenty to twenty to twenty to twenty to twenty to twenty to twenty to twenty to twenty to twenty to twenty to twenty to twenty to twenty to twenty to twenty to twenty to twenty to twenty to twenty to twenty to twenty to twenty to twenty to twenty to twenty to twenty to twenty to twenty to twenty to twenty to twenty to twenty to twenty to twenty to twenty to twenty to twenty to twenty to twenty to --> 00:22:36.780 planning to do that is supposed to be irreversible will also be something that 00:22:36.780 --> 00:22:42.540 God plans to do that will be irreversible I'm gonna be a watchman on 00:22:42.540 --> 00:22:48.260 the walls man I'm gonna give God no rest giving God no rest is not unceasing 00:22:48.260 --> 00:22:53.040 prayer for eight hours giving God no rest is just being present where God 00:22:53.040 --> 00:22:56.620 becomes so aware of your presence and your heart that he does not know where 00:22:56.620 --> 00:23:06.300 to go to and he laughs his head off saying this boy has finally got it so 00:23:06.820 --> 00:23:12.420 begin to think like this as a watchman begin to ask begin to begin to take 00:23:12.420 --> 00:23:18.320 advantage of the mercy of God begin to take advantage of the mercy of God we 00:23:18.320 --> 00:23:22.640 we take advantage of it every day because we said we Christians have that 00:23:22.640 --> 00:23:26.260 marvelous privilege man begin to take advantage of the mercy of God for the 00:23:26.260 --> 00:23:30.620 people of the earth who do not know him the people of your city let's just start 00:23:30.620 --> 00:23:35.220 with Jerusalem
