Because yesterday's manna is moldy. True. Why transition? Among other 00:00:41.920 --> 00:00:50.920 reasons, guys to begin with, you are a people who are called the people of the way. Romans 12, 1 & 2. 00:00:50.920 --> 00:00:57.400 Many reasons, but let me throw these reasons too. We were called the people of the way when we began. 00:00:57.400 --> 00:01:03.800 People of the way, not a people who arrived, not a people who are starting, but a people of the way, 00:01:03.800 --> 00:01:18.160 which is basically a journey that is spiritual, but is lived out in the natural, but is lived out 00:01:18.160 --> 00:01:40.360 in the natural. It's continuous swimming in the person of Jesus and it's infinite. It's 00:01:40.360 --> 00:01:47.840 continuous entering into the depths of who Jesus is, into the character nature, a purpose of God, 00:01:47.840 --> 00:01:54.360 here on earth, for each individual life and us as a church. And we are the people of the way. It's 00:01:54.360 --> 00:02:08.960 a journey and it's a journey that is spiritual, but it's lived out in the natural. Guys, you must 00:02:08.960 --> 00:02:20.920 transition because your history, you must transition, you must transition because your 00:02:20.920 --> 00:02:35.440 history, and another word for history is Kronos, you must transition because your history is governed 00:02:35.440 --> 00:02:57.040 by the seasons of God. You must transition because your history is governed by the seasons of God. 00:02:57.040 --> 00:03:08.520 This guy, get this guys, get this. You must transition because your history is governed 00:03:08.520 --> 00:03:19.240 by the seasons and another word for seasons is Kairos. This is one of 00:04:00.760 --> 00:04:09.440 the vital reasons you need to transition. Ministries need to be governed by the seasons of God. Churches 00:04:09.440 --> 00:04:14.080 need to be governed by the seasons of God. Individuals need to be governed by the seasons 00:04:15.040 --> 00:04:22.640 of God, meaning what is God's present purpose in your life? What is the next piece of inheritance 00:04:22.640 --> 00:04:27.160 being allocated to you that you have no idea because it is the father that allocates the inheritance, 00:04:27.160 --> 00:04:43.200 not the son, meaning not you. This is so vital. Otherwise, what may be a great phase of your 00:04:43.200 --> 00:04:48.600 history now becomes where you locate yourself as a church, as an individual and as a ministry, 00:04:48.600 --> 00:04:56.400 and there you will be and there you will die. When God is saying, I have brought in season upon 00:04:56.400 --> 00:05:03.080 season upon you, why didn't you hear? Because had you heeded, you would have a different chapter 00:05:03.080 --> 00:05:15.080 added to your history. This is why transition is vital, guys. In the Old Testament, when a new 00:05:15.080 --> 00:05:24.320 season was revealed by God, places were named as a memorial of that significant time. Doesn't matter 00:05:24.320 --> 00:05:32.720 where, in Israel's journey in the middle of the Jordan, in Abraham's journey at different places, 00:05:32.920 --> 00:05:38.360 whenever there was an encounter with God that revealed a new season in Abraham's life, 00:05:38.360 --> 00:05:44.160 there would be a memorial set up to God and there would be a name given to that memorial. 00:05:44.160 --> 00:05:55.320 And accordingly, Abraham's thinking would be restructured. Israel's thinking would be 00:05:55.320 --> 00:06:02.200 restructured. God would tell them to restructure it. He would say, set up this memorial here so 00:06:02.200 --> 00:06:06.360 that you can teach your children's children that this is what happened here. A new season, 00:06:06.360 --> 00:06:13.640 a new entry, a new phase, a new development. God would bring in words to restructure their thinking. 00:06:13.640 --> 00:06:18.180 They would change their thinking and in the change or the restructure of their thinking, 00:06:18.180 --> 00:06:24.960 they would then engage in action or location. I'll go over that again. 00:06:24.960 --> 00:06:34.880 Who knows how to put the air conditioning off for a second, James? You know? Yeah, but if we miss it because of 00:06:52.480 --> 00:06:59.080 its uncertainty, God does shout louder later so that we catch it. Yeah. Yeah. In the Old Testament, 00:06:59.080 --> 00:07:04.520 as I was saying, when a new season was revealed by God, places were named as a memorial of that 00:07:04.520 --> 00:07:09.820 significant time. So we see that with Abraham's life. We see that with Israel's life. And when 00:07:09.820 --> 00:07:14.280 he would bring in this new season, he would always set up a memorial as a marker that showed, 00:07:14.280 --> 00:07:19.300 here guys, we are stepping into something new. And that memorial would be even given a name. 00:07:19.300 --> 00:07:27.180 And in the name was contained the need to restructure their thinking. For instance, 00:07:27.180 --> 00:07:33.660 when they come into the promised land, there's a stop to manna. Now they have to shift their 00:07:33.660 --> 00:07:41.780 way of thinking in terms of constructing barns for grain, vats for wine, houses to live in, 00:07:41.780 --> 00:07:50.200 which again God provides, but it was a change of thinking. And once transition causes the restructuring 00:07:50.200 --> 00:07:57.400 of thinking, then you can enter into action and location. Eric and I have been talking about this 00:07:57.400 --> 00:08:07.680 for a while. We have found that this message that we have, as Acts 29, been disseminating in 00:08:07.680 --> 00:08:12.420 different places of the world, it does something to people. The first thing people want to do when 00:08:12.420 --> 00:08:17.220 they listen to what we've been teaching is they want to leave their jobs and get a new job, or 00:08:17.220 --> 00:08:21.520 they want to leave their churches and get a new church, or they want to change homes, or they want 00:08:21.520 --> 00:08:28.620 to buy a new car. They want to do something. And I've seen this so often, it's scary. In Vernon, 00:08:28.620 --> 00:08:34.020 there have been people who want to quit their jobs and start a new job. In Bahrain, there was a guy 00:08:34.020 --> 00:08:40.520 who wanted to move out of his house into a new house. The thing is, guys, this thing that we are 00:08:40.520 --> 00:08:46.320 teaching now, because it is the truth of God now, does something in people where they know they have 00:08:46.320 --> 00:08:55.040 to change, so they try to change by changing location. It is a premature response to what God 00:08:55.040 --> 00:08:58.960 is doing within them. So they want to give up their jobs, they want to give up their homes, 00:08:59.140 --> 00:09:06.940 they want to do something that will somehow satisfy that need to change within. And over the last 00:09:06.940 --> 00:09:11.440 little while, I have had to go and caution people saying, no, no, no, no, stay in your job, because 00:09:11.440 --> 00:09:17.380 changing jobs will not cause you to migrate spiritually. This has to be grasped and understood. 00:09:17.380 --> 00:09:23.200 The job change will come later. The location is not what is first. The restructuring of thinking 00:09:23.200 --> 00:09:29.680 is first. And it is such an urgency because this thing stirs up something within you that your first 00:09:29.680 --> 00:09:38.380 response is, I got to move. But move here first. Ministries have to move from where they were to 00:09:38.380 --> 00:09:43.700 where God is at right now. Churches have to move as in, I'm really putting the emphasis on that 00:09:43.700 --> 00:09:55.000 word so that you understand. We have to move. Transition is so vital, guys. You must transition 00:09:55.000 --> 00:10:03.880 because your history is governed by the seasons of God. Can't put enough emphasis on it. Otherwise, 00:10:03.880 --> 00:10:13.240 here's what will happen, guys. Otherwise, this is so stinking sad. And it doesn't stink till later 00:10:13.420 --> 00:10:20.140 on. That's the problem. It's sad first and then it stinks. Otherwise, here's what happens. You will 00:10:20.140 --> 00:10:28.020 end up engaging in good Christian activity. You will end up engaging in good Christian activity 00:10:28.020 --> 00:10:38.020 that does not produce spiritual life. Oh, you will end up engaging in good Christian activity 00:10:38.020 --> 00:10:48.040 that does not produce spiritual life. Meaning, you'll be engaged in really good Christian activity. 00:10:48.040 --> 00:11:02.560 From the outside, there'll be wholeness to it. But it'll lack Zoe as in real spiritual life. Second, what you do will be irrelevant to the present purpose 00:11:08.800 --> 00:11:15.320 of God in your life, in your ministry or in your church. Let me say that again. What you do will 00:11:15.320 --> 00:11:27.040 be irrelevant to the present purpose of God. If you take your car to the mechanic to have it fixed 00:11:27.040 --> 00:11:34.600 and he does a great job of shining the surface and cleaning your windscreen. Great. And he doesn't 00:11:34.600 --> 00:11:42.760 charge you for it. Wonderful. Gives you five bucks saying, go eat a burger. Wonderful. But it is 00:11:42.760 --> 00:11:49.360 irrelevant to your present purpose because you have a car with a shiny outside, a clean windscreen, 00:11:49.360 --> 00:11:55.960 five bucks to eat a burger and you have to walk to the drive-in because your car doesn't move. It's 00:11:55.960 --> 00:12:05.920 irrelevant to your present purpose. Acts 29 has to watch out that we don't indulge in present activity 00:12:05.920 --> 00:12:14.480 tomorrow. If we are not transitioning our present activity today will be irrelevant to God's purpose 00:12:14.480 --> 00:12:20.720 tomorrow. We'll be engaged in it and think it's wholesome and good. Got to keep changing our way 00:12:20.720 --> 00:12:29.040 of thinking, our methods. I'm not angry. It is an urgency that grabs me because I cannot afford in 00:12:29.040 --> 00:12:36.480 my life or in our lives to have a history not governed by the seasons of God because eventually 00:12:36.480 --> 00:12:42.960 this is what's going to happen guys. And to think it's okay. Eventually what will happen is you 00:12:42.960 --> 00:12:49.440 will become an adversary to the divine intent and mandate of God for you and for others. So the first 00:12:49.440 --> 00:12:59.240 step is you will engage in activity, wholesome activity, engage in Christian activity. The second 00:12:59.240 --> 00:13:14.680 step is you will not produce spiritual life and please don't measure spiritual life by healings 00:13:15.360 --> 00:13:23.240 and deliverances. That's not spiritual life. So spiritual life is when you begin to produce fruit. 00:13:23.240 --> 00:13:37.560 The character of Christ developed in you. Thirdly, you end up doing things irrelevant to the present 00:13:37.560 --> 00:13:48.200 purpose of God. Irrelevant to the present purpose of God. Guys, the thing is no one else will tell 00:13:48.200 --> 00:13:52.280 you this because people will still commend you because you're doing better than most others. And 00:13:52.280 --> 00:14:06.320 finally you will become an adversary to his intent and mandate. Isn't this the story of every 00:14:06.320 --> 00:14:15.680 denomination that exists? This is how it started with being in the season of God. It moved to 00:14:15.680 --> 00:14:20.760 Christian activity. It then goes to a place where Christian activity continues but there's no 00:14:20.760 --> 00:14:27.560 producing of spiritual life even though there will be many things happening. Then it goes on to doing 00:14:27.560 --> 00:14:32.760 things that are completely irrelevant to the present purpose of God. And finally it becomes 00:14:32.760 --> 00:14:47.720 adversarial to God's present intent and mandate in your life and in the lives of others. Guys, 00:14:47.720 --> 00:14:59.280 my God I'm telling you transition is vital. So important. Yes we do and we'll be talking about 00:14:59.440 --> 00:15:07.000 how we cannot transition cannot be done in isolation. Transition does not happen when 00:15:07.000 --> 00:15:21.480 you are in a well by yourself. So today let's look at the lives of Caleb and Josiah and I'm 00:15:21.480 --> 00:15:28.080 going to use the word transitional which is not an English word but it is a Greek word. Today let's 00:15:28.080 --> 00:15:35.480 look at the lives of Caleb and Josiah, transitioners who migrated into the seasons of God. They will draw 00:15:35.480 --> 00:15:40.480 from their lives. In the past we looked at the life of John the Baptist and we looked at the life 00:15:40.480 --> 00:15:49.160 of Michael, David's wife. And we saw why they didn't transition. Today we look at Caleb and 00:15:49.160 --> 00:16:00.280 Josiah and see draw principles as to why they did transition. Yeah sorry is there a time frame 00:16:00.280 --> 00:16:14.680 for transition? The key to transition is immediate obedience. Then the time frame does not matter but 00:16:14.680 --> 00:16:34.360 a transition can be missed when there is delayed or a failure to obey. Yeah but when God is calling 00:16:34.360 --> 00:16:41.400 us to move from one place to the other the response should be immediate obedience. We are 00:16:41.400 --> 00:16:46.760 talking about transition not as in necessarily obeying all the commands of God. We are talking 00:16:46.760 --> 00:16:53.920 about God saying okay great you've been here I'm moving on come and you have become so significant 00:16:53.920 --> 00:17:02.200 where you are, so settled, so completely good at where you are that now when God calls moving is 00:17:02.200 --> 00:17:04.200 difficult. 00:17:11.400 --> 00:17:13.400 Yeah. 00:17:13.400 --> 00:17:29.560 God, I guess we need to define transition. Transition here is migration to where God is calling me to. 00:17:29.560 --> 00:17:38.600 My, the demand on my life is obey immediately. Obey immediately. And migration can have, 00:17:38.680 --> 00:17:43.960 migration first happens in my thinking. Are you transitioning with regard to money, 00:17:43.960 --> 00:17:48.520 are you transitioning with regard to ministry, are you transitioning with regard to marriage, 00:17:48.520 --> 00:17:54.040 are you transitioning with regard to intimacy. As God calls you higher and higher and higher, 00:17:54.040 --> 00:17:59.640 are you transitioning into becoming who you are being shown you are. 00:18:00.440 --> 00:18:03.960 God is showing you this is who you are. Are you transitioning there. How do you transition? 00:18:03.960 --> 00:18:07.800 The first thing is to immediately obey. We'll talk about some of the qualities 00:18:07.800 --> 00:18:13.140 that are required for good transitioners. So how long it takes is completely up to God 00:18:13.140 --> 00:18:21.540 initially and then up to me in terms of my willingness to embrace it. And God sometimes 00:18:21.540 --> 00:18:26.760 waits for long periods, other times He'll bring in that transition much later because 00:18:26.760 --> 00:18:33.560 we are not willing to move on. So it'll come back again. But in the end what happens in 00:18:33.560 --> 00:18:38.840 the process is you miss out on chunks of your life that could be yours. Oh, it's hot in 00:18:38.840 --> 00:18:53.000 here man. Oh, it's hot in here man. No, it's not. Hold on then. Okay, so let's look at 00:18:53.000 --> 00:18:58.520 the life of Caleb and Josiah. First we look at the life of Caleb and as we look at it 00:18:58.520 --> 00:19:03.320 you'll see some perhaps it'll clear up more what I'm saying in terms of obedience and 00:19:03.320 --> 00:19:17.680 stuff like that. Numbers 1424. Numbers 1424. Yeah, it is open. I think it's only me because 00:19:17.680 --> 00:19:28.880 I'm the one moving around. So don't. Silence in the gallery. Numbers 1424. But because my servant 00:19:28.880 --> 00:19:34.840 Caleb has a different spirit and followed me wholeheartedly, I will bring him into the land 00:19:34.840 --> 00:19:41.000 that he went into and his descendants will inherit it. One of the things that a good 00:19:41.000 --> 00:19:48.440 transition requires to be is that he has to have a different spirit as seen in Caleb. He has to 00:19:48.440 --> 00:19:58.480 have a different spirit. You cannot be a run-of-the-mill Christian. I mean that sounds 00:19:58.720 --> 00:20:04.360 wrong. How can you be a run-of-the-mill Christian? You're a run-of-Christ's imprint. But a run-of-the-mill 00:20:04.360 --> 00:20:09.240 Christian is someone who does not even have an idea that there is something called transition. 00:20:09.240 --> 00:20:14.640 You have to have a different spirit. A spirit that understands these principles of transition 00:20:14.640 --> 00:20:20.440 that's always saying, Father you keep saying come up higher. Here I am. Here I am. Here I am. Here I am. 00:20:20.440 --> 00:20:29.760 There's a hunger. There's an eagerness. There's a song that was written long ago. I think you 00:20:29.760 --> 00:20:36.000 may have heard it. I don't want to be a lukewarm Christian. No, I don't want to be a casual 00:20:36.000 --> 00:20:43.640 Christian. I don't want to live a lukewarm life. A different spirit is a spirit that is not lukewarm 00:20:43.640 --> 00:20:48.000 or casual. One of the things that distinguished Caleb from the rest was my God, his lack of 00:20:48.720 --> 00:20:52.320 lukewarmness. There was nothing casual about Caleb. 00:20:58.080 --> 00:21:01.520 When there is lukewarmness and casualness in my life and your life, guys, 00:21:02.160 --> 00:21:05.120 know that you slip from being one of a different spirit. 00:21:05.120 --> 00:21:24.000 Read Numbers 13, 28 to 30. Numbers 13, 28 to 30. But the people who live there are powerful and 00:21:24.000 --> 00:21:31.400 the cities are fortified and very large. We even saw the descendants of Anak there. The Amalekites 00:21:31.400 --> 00:21:36.400 live in the Negev, the Hittites, Jebusites, and Amorites live in the hill country, and the Canaanites 00:21:36.400 --> 00:21:41.000 live near the sea and along the Jordan. Then Caleb silenced the people before Moses and said, 00:21:41.000 --> 00:21:47.560 we should go up and take possession of the land for we can certainly do it. Guys, this is one of 00:21:47.560 --> 00:21:53.280 the things I was saying in response to what James was asking. A transitioner is one who is ready to 00:21:53.360 --> 00:22:00.000 take up positions immediately in obedience and in risk and faith. A transitioner is someone 00:22:07.920 --> 00:22:16.720 who is ready to take up position immediately 00:22:16.720 --> 00:22:40.640 in obedience, in risk, and faith. In obedience, in risk, and faith. 00:22:47.200 --> 00:22:55.280 Caleb didn't know how this was going to work. These are men who are twice their size, 00:22:55.280 --> 00:23:07.520 and they are a slave people. They've been out of their slavery for about 15 to 30 days, 00:23:07.520 --> 00:23:17.560 and these are a warrior class of renowned giants. Caleb does not know how he's going to go about it, 00:23:17.560 --> 00:23:26.440 but he knows enough to know God is saying move and I will move. That is all. The response is 00:23:26.440 --> 00:23:31.280 immediate. It is in obedience. There is a risk because he has no idea how he's going to do this. 00:23:31.520 --> 00:23:38.480 He's not from a warrior nation. He's from a slave nation. It is beyond his ability to understand, 00:23:39.760 --> 00:23:47.440 and there is faith. A transitioner has to have this. This is a different spirit, guys. Apply this to the ministry you're doing, to the ways of God that you know at present, 00:23:57.040 --> 00:24:05.040 to the church that we are a part of, to moving from where you are at to who you need to become 00:24:05.040 --> 00:24:09.280 so that you can do what you're supposed to do. Apply it in every area. 00:24:13.280 --> 00:24:19.040 But I don't know what I'm supposed to become. Well then, we'll talk about that too. 00:24:19.040 --> 00:24:27.440 Like I said over the last two weeks, fold yesterday into today. Your goal, your ways of life, 00:24:27.840 --> 00:24:36.960 your thinking, your ministry. Fold it into tomorrow. You cannot serve both John and Jesus. 00:24:36.960 --> 00:24:43.360 John and Jesus coexisted. John should have folded up his ministry and joined Jesus instead of 00:24:43.360 --> 00:24:48.480 maintaining disciples, continue to preach the kingdom of God is near when the kingdom of God 00:24:48.480 --> 00:24:55.600 had already come.
