00:02:14.760 --> 00:02:19.680 When you say that, is there enough oomph behind what you're saying? 00:02:19.680 --> 00:02:24.240 It's possible to say, I really love you, Jesus, or it's possible to say, Abba, I really love 00:02:24.240 --> 00:02:25.240 you. 00:02:25.240 --> 00:02:31.400 But why is it that most of us struggle with putting enough oomph into, I really love you, 00:02:31.400 --> 00:02:33.880 Holy Spirit? Imagine that for a second. There's something about 00:11:40.000 --> 00:11:45.120 the private life of God that I now have because of the personal presence of God in me. Just 00:11:45.120 --> 00:11:52.120 hear those words again. There's something about the private life of God. Marvel at these 00:11:52.120 --> 00:12:00.120 words. There is something about the private life of God that I now get to partake in because 00:12:00.120 --> 00:12:06.400 of the personal presence of God by the Spirit. Is the scripture? Yes. You read 1 Peter, it 00:12:06.400 --> 00:12:12.040 talks about that. That we are now partakers in His divine nature. How? How do you partake 00:12:12.040 --> 00:12:17.720 in someone's divine nature unless you have an in into his private or her private life? 00:12:17.720 --> 00:12:24.400 And how does that happen? Through the personal presence of God Himself by the Spirit in me. 00:12:24.400 --> 00:12:31.440 That is nuts man. This is what we are talking about. This is not even what we are talking 00:12:31.440 --> 00:12:39.160 about. This is who we are talking about. The moment I put private before His life, you 00:12:39.160 --> 00:12:52.760 realize, oh shucks, this is someone's life that you're sharing in. Nothing held back. 00:12:52.760 --> 00:12:59.280 Nothing held back. The strange thing about God is nothing is held back. It is open to 00:12:59.280 --> 00:13:07.860 you as far as you want to swim. Nothing is held back. He says that. Paul says that in 00:13:07.860 --> 00:13:13.740 2 Corinthians 6 when he's talking about his human love for people. He says, if you have 00:13:13.740 --> 00:13:17.600 a problem with me, it is not because my heart is small. It is because your heart is small 00:13:17.600 --> 00:13:21.880 because my heart is open to you and I'm holding nothing back. If a man can say that, then 00:13:21.880 --> 00:13:28.200 take 1 Corinthians 13 and you will find that God doesn't hold anything back either. So 00:13:28.200 --> 00:13:32.520 how deep do you go into the private life of God? As deep as you want to. Why aren't we 00:13:32.520 --> 00:13:38.720 going? Because of our own fears, our own hesitations, our own theology, our own background, our 00:13:38.720 --> 00:13:44.560 own sin, our own independence, our own fallenness. That's the reason we don't go further. Not 00:13:45.320 --> 00:13:52.320 because he's holding it back. Gosh man, when you became born again, the words he said was 00:13:53.280 --> 00:14:00.280 I do. It is a marriage. Romans 7 talks about it. You free yourself from your past and you 00:14:04.920 --> 00:14:09.920 become one with the one that you belong to. How do you free yourself from the past? Romans 00:14:09.920 --> 00:14:15.120 7 says you cannot marry another as long as you're married to someone. And then in being 00:14:15.120 --> 00:14:20.380 born again, what are you doing? I'm cutting myself off. The past is dead. Now that the 00:14:20.380 --> 00:14:26.080 past is dead, I can join myself to someone new. You have been betrothed to one. And in 00:14:26.080 --> 00:14:33.080 you saying Jesus, I want you into my life, the reply is I do. And it is forever, eh? 00:14:33.960 --> 00:14:40.960 And there is nothing held back. So if I go really serious on you, it's because, yeah. 00:15:14.120 --> 00:15:21.120 Hey, the spirit of God is God walking with you in the garden 24-7. We must realize, and I've said this before, that one of the things 00:15:26.440 --> 00:15:31.640 that happens as soon as you become born again is you get the presence of God back and you 00:15:31.640 --> 00:15:38.640 get a father. The very idea of being born again is, hey, you lost the presence of God, 00:15:39.200 --> 00:15:44.240 you lost your father. In being born again now, you get two things back. You get the 00:15:44.240 --> 00:15:48.920 presence of God back and the presence of God comes back to you by the Holy Spirit. You 00:15:48.920 --> 00:15:53.560 get back to where Adam used to be, where he used to have the presence of God 24-7 in 00:15:53.560 --> 00:15:58.440 the garden. The reason the spirit of God now comes into my life and does not leave is because 00:15:58.440 --> 00:16:05.440 the intent has always been, can we restore Eden? Can we restore Eden? Which is why God 00:16:06.360 --> 00:16:12.440 keeps saying, can I make all things new? That's God's primary intent, hey? Can I make all 00:16:12.440 --> 00:16:18.200 things new? So what does he do? He makes you new first. He makes your spirit new first. 00:16:18.200 --> 00:16:22.760 You know the word, he's making your thinking new. When you die, you'll have new bodies. 00:16:22.760 --> 00:16:29.760 That's been made new. Nothing has changed since Eden. I am making all things new. And 00:16:30.240 --> 00:16:34.800 then in Revelation 21 verse 5, there's this loud voice from the throne which says, behold, 00:16:34.800 --> 00:16:40.120 I have made all things new. One of the things the spirit of God does is make all things 00:16:40.120 --> 00:16:47.120 new and he does this joyfully. He doesn't do it as a chore. And so what's he, one of 00:16:47.280 --> 00:16:52.560 the things I have to realize and practice, when you write Genesis 1 with me in it, it 00:16:52.560 --> 00:16:58.840 should be, and every evening in the cool of the day, Jacob and God used to walk together. 00:16:58.840 --> 00:17:04.760 This is possible now because of the spirit. He doesn't leave. He doesn't leave. Great 00:17:04.760 --> 00:17:10.520 thing is he doesn't even need to walk. For some of us that's an advantage. Sorry, we're 00:17:10.520 --> 00:17:17.520 not supposed to joke right now. No joking. Stop it. Yeah. Okay. So this is not going 00:17:18.560 --> 00:17:25.560 to go well. So I'm trying. So where was I? Yeah. Guys, and he's a person so he can be 00:17:31.560 --> 00:17:38.560 lied to. He can be waxed. He can be grieved. He speaks. He has a voice. He hears. All these 00:17:39.560 --> 00:17:46.560 things are real too. I love the fact that he can be grieved. He's real. I can grieve 00:17:46.760 --> 00:17:53.760 him. This is so awesome that he hurts if I can hurt him. What I mean by that's so awesome 00:17:57.160 --> 00:18:04.160 is to be able to relate to someone invisible who lives in me who hurts also means that 00:18:04.880 --> 00:18:11.880 he can be highly pleased. I can hurt him. I can vex him. Kids vex you, right? Don't 00:18:13.200 --> 00:18:19.800 touch that. I'm not touching it yet. I'm not touching it yet. You can vex him. You can 00:18:19.800 --> 00:18:26.800 quench him. He has a voice. He hears. He's got all, he's got a whole set of emotions. 00:18:27.800 --> 00:18:34.800 He's a god of laughter. The Holy Spirit laughs without making it go silly. It'll sound silly 00:18:39.680 --> 00:18:46.680 but it's not. Do you realize that any good humor comes from God? Do you realize that 00:18:46.720 --> 00:18:53.720 laughing and the idea of Isaac and laughter and all these things are real? Do you realize 00:18:53.960 --> 00:19:00.960 that the idea of Isaac and laughter and all these were God born? That Adam and God would 00:19:02.120 --> 00:19:09.120 walk around and they would look at the platypus and they'd laugh their heads off. The idea 00:19:11.200 --> 00:19:18.200 is that we do not relate to God like that. We do not relate to him like that. The hope 00:19:18.640 --> 00:19:25.640 is that we can at least begin to and that at the risk of sounding silly, we'll include 00:19:26.600 --> 00:19:33.600 God in conversations that we don't normally have. Because he has a whole range of emotions 00:19:35.000 --> 00:19:42.000 from crying to laughter to sadness to joy to exceeding joy. There's a reason why scriptures 00:19:42.320 --> 00:19:49.320 say in Psalm 16 that I have anointed you with gladness beyond your brothers. There's a reason 00:19:52.960 --> 00:19:58.080 that he begins to weep over Jerusalem. He's standing over Jerusalem. You can see the rest 00:19:58.080 --> 00:20:02.120 of Jerusalem below you and he's beginning to weep. His heart is grieved. Where did 00:20:02.120 --> 00:20:09.120 their emotions come from? Because he was a perfect man. He drew them from the Spirit. 00:20:09.680 --> 00:20:14.960 I had to be able to know him like that. Because in knowing him like that you will also know 00:20:14.960 --> 00:20:20.680 the father and son better because he reveals the father and son. When you get to know the 00:20:20.680 --> 00:20:27.680 revealer you get to know who he is revealing even better. Any questions? Because sometimes 00:20:27.680 --> 00:20:34.680 guys if you don't know the one you're walking with it will dull your ability to actively 00:20:36.800 --> 00:20:41.800 participate with him. If you don't know the one you're walking with it will dull your 00:20:41.800 --> 00:20:47.800 ability to actively participate with him. We talk about the fellowship of the Holy Spirit. 00:20:47.800 --> 00:20:53.240 Every doxology ends with may the love of the father, the peace of Jesus Christ and the 00:20:54.240 --> 00:21:01.240 fellowship of the Holy Spirit as in participating with the Holy Spirit. So awareness activates 00:21:03.840 --> 00:21:10.840 participation. If I'm dull to who I'm walking with it's highly unlikely that I will be able 00:21:11.160 --> 00:21:17.120 to share in fellowship with the Spirit of God. Because what is the fellowship of the 00:21:17.120 --> 00:21:21.560 Holy Spirit then? That he comforts you when you mourn? What about the times you mourn 00:21:21.560 --> 00:21:28.560 comforts you when you mourn? What about the times you're not mourning? And if all he is 00:21:30.120 --> 00:21:37.120 is a gift giver or a fruit producer again you're reducing him to an agent. He is God's 00:21:37.480 --> 00:21:44.480 agent but he's so much more than that. Any questions? Here are some words you would rarely 00:21:44.480 --> 00:21:51.480 think of God as but perhaps the Holy Spirit might be a little easier.
