So that's the progression guys. The name was Abbezabel 00:00:46.160 --> 00:00:52.400 which means my father Baal is noble. From there the Hebrew writers deliberately dropped a letter 00:00:52.400 --> 00:00:57.600 because of the personality she had and the person she was and started calling her Jezebel which means 00:00:57.600 --> 00:01:04.080 lacks honor and to lack honor in the case of a woman in those days was to have no one covering 00:01:04.080 --> 00:01:12.040 her. She was unhusbanded and so the intent was to convey the sense that here was a woman who was not 00:01:12.040 --> 00:01:17.840 subject to authority who had no covering and was an authority unto oneself. So the spirit of Jezebel 00:01:17.840 --> 00:01:26.800 will always bring forth in a congregation, in a person, in a household this sense of not being 00:01:26.800 --> 00:01:34.120 subject to divine order, not being subject to authority. There'll be always a strong, strong 00:01:34.120 --> 00:01:40.440 streak of stubborn rebellion whenever the spirit of Jezebel is active in a church, in a household, 00:01:40.440 --> 00:01:47.880 in a person's life because remember as spirit affects at different levels, it affects households 00:01:47.880 --> 00:01:58.720 of God, it affects houses, marriages, homes and it affects individuals. So one of the things that 00:01:58.720 --> 00:02:05.680 you will see when the spirit of Jezebel is operating is this sense of rebellion that comes up. Because when you actually study Jezebel you see that the 00:02:15.960 --> 00:02:22.400 spirit is so potent which is why it is one of the most active spirits in churches today and in 00:02:22.400 --> 00:02:28.920 sometimes in homes too but in churches absolutely. North America, oh you have no idea. Not that it 00:02:28.920 --> 00:02:34.720 isn't present in the rest of the world but in the North American context it is so visible. 00:02:34.720 --> 00:02:47.760 You read about Jezebel first in 1st King 16 verses 31 onwards where it is said that she was the 00:02:47.760 --> 00:02:55.280 daughter of Etbal who was a Sidonian king or a Sidonian priest king. 1st King 16, 31 first 00:02:55.320 --> 00:03:03.320 talks about it. Sorry, Lorient, any questions? Okay, so she was the daughter of a Sidonian 00:03:04.120 --> 00:03:10.440 priest king called Etbal and so by being the daughter of a Sidonian priest king she was in 00:03:10.440 --> 00:03:20.000 turn a princess and a priestess and was skilled in sorcery and divination which is again why, 00:03:20.640 --> 00:03:28.160 the first thing we said was that the spirit comes with a strong streak of rebellion and what does 00:03:28.160 --> 00:03:38.800 1st Samuel 15, 23 say? Rebellion is akin to witchcraft. So it is natural that this woman 00:03:38.800 --> 00:03:49.480 should come from a line of practicing priests who was skilled at sorcery and divination. 00:03:49.480 --> 00:04:09.520 So the second thing the spirit introduces into lives, into marriages, into homes and into the 00:04:09.520 --> 00:04:16.120 church is divination and we'll talk about what divination is next. That's the second thing that 00:04:16.600 --> 00:04:20.920 there's rebellion and then there's divination. Remember guys, rebellion is always a breaking 00:04:20.920 --> 00:04:28.520 of divine order. There is divine order in church, there is divine order in a home, there is order 00:04:28.520 --> 00:04:33.800 in a person's life too that can be broken and this spirit has an ability to ferment rebellion 00:04:33.800 --> 00:04:38.560 against what is established as divine order. So in a church it would be continuous strife and 00:04:38.560 --> 00:04:46.120 rebellion against those that are operating in authentic authority, not in borrowed authority, 00:04:46.120 --> 00:04:51.960 not in usurped authority, but in authentic authority. In a home it will be in terms of, 00:04:51.960 --> 00:05:00.240 and always remember in a church everybody is equal. We are all equal but just as in the 00:05:00.240 --> 00:05:04.560 Godhead which is equal, there is the first among equals, in a church it's the same, 00:05:04.560 --> 00:05:09.760 divine order is established through mere humans like you and I. So whenever I hear people saying, 00:05:09.760 --> 00:05:14.480 oh only the Holy Spirit teaches me, I immediately identify a problem there because there is pride 00:05:14.480 --> 00:05:20.400 there. If I come to you and say, when you start telling me something that I am not ready or open 00:05:20.400 --> 00:05:25.080 to right now, if I turn around to you and say, oh it's only God who teaches me, you know I really 00:05:25.080 --> 00:05:32.040 have a problem then. It's not that, sure God teaches but who does God used to teach? People. 00:05:32.040 --> 00:05:36.240 So when we say I only learn from the Holy Spirit, what you're saying is, 00:05:36.240 --> 00:05:50.800 you ain't gonna tell me nothing. It's sheer pride man. Yep, so one cannot afford to come up with 00:05:50.800 --> 00:05:55.560 that line that I only learn from the Holy Spirit. Great, I'm glad for you but the Holy Spirit uses 00:05:55.560 --> 00:06:04.760 faulty inadequate individuals like James and Diana. I said faulty inadequate, I couldn't put me in that 00:06:04.760 --> 00:06:21.480 list, could you? So, yes this is true. Just remember that, so divine order will always be come against 00:06:21.640 --> 00:06:26.200 this particular spirit. One of the strange things that happened in Shillong, that place I was showing 00:06:26.200 --> 00:06:33.920 you, is that Shillong is the only province in all of India that has a matriarchal society. 00:06:33.920 --> 00:06:43.760 A matriarchal society, which is okay, I'm okay with the women getting the possessions, I'm fine 00:06:43.760 --> 00:06:51.040 with that because in every other condition, every other place in India, the parent works their entire 00:06:51.040 --> 00:06:56.040 life so that they can store up what's called a dowry for the woman and you've got to give this 00:06:56.040 --> 00:07:02.000 dowry to the guy to get your daughter married. The daughter does not get anything from the house, 00:07:02.000 --> 00:07:10.160 everything goes to the son. So I think that stinks. I'm not in agreement with that and it's a sad 00:07:10.160 --> 00:07:19.880 thing that a woman has to be literally given to her groom with tons of money. So that is fine but 00:07:19.880 --> 00:07:27.360 when society is matriarchal, you break divine order because even though husband and wife are 00:07:27.360 --> 00:07:33.160 absolutely equal and are supposed to be mutually submissive to each other, the husband is first 00:07:33.160 --> 00:07:41.120 among equals and when you turn that upside down, you will have a society that will be dysfunctional 00:07:41.120 --> 00:07:49.520 and so you have hundreds and hundreds of Christian households in Shillong where the men are alcoholic, 00:07:49.520 --> 00:07:56.080 the men are abused, the men have left their houses and walked away and are not taking the 00:07:56.080 --> 00:08:05.720 rightful place because it's not a society that allows that. Where if you, let's assume I have 00:08:05.720 --> 00:08:11.760 a daughter, she's my youngest daughter and you marry my youngest daughter, then you will come 00:08:11.760 --> 00:08:17.360 and live in my house and take care of me because my daughter is the one who is, it's the other way 00:08:17.360 --> 00:08:24.720 around. So you come into my house, you take care of your wife's parents, the wife's mother 00:08:24.720 --> 00:08:32.840 then becomes the one who is the head of the house. So while I have absolutely no problem with a woman 00:08:32.840 --> 00:08:38.520 getting all the possessions and the woman receiving money to get married, I'd vote for that honestly. 00:08:38.520 --> 00:08:48.600 There is a problem when the order is reversed. Yeah and if it is, it's a problem. See when you 00:08:48.600 --> 00:08:54.760 break divine order and the spirit of Jezebel will bring faulty order, that's one of the things it does. 00:08:54.760 --> 00:09:11.920 Okay so the sorcery and divination is part of who Jezebel was and divination then is the next thing 00:09:11.920 --> 00:09:18.760 we are going to deal with. Divination is, let's take a New Testament passage, if you look at Acts 00:09:18.760 --> 00:09:25.640 16, 16, Acts 16, 16, all the scriptures are given on top of your page, when you look at Acts 16, 16, 00:09:25.640 --> 00:09:33.160 you see that Paul was being followed by a slave girl who wasn't saying anything really harmful, 00:09:33.160 --> 00:09:38.080 she kept declaring that these are the servants of the Most High God and they bring the message of 00:09:38.080 --> 00:09:43.960 salvation. That's what Paul kept shouting out in Acts 16, 16 and yet at one point Paul gets quite 00:09:43.960 --> 00:09:49.960 disconcerted with the whole thing. I think the word he uses is quite distressed or irritated, 00:09:49.960 --> 00:09:55.720 he didn't want to rip her head off but he was irritated enough to turn around and cast the 00:09:55.720 --> 00:10:04.240 spirit out. So witchcraft works or comes into the church as the spirit of divination and the 00:10:04.680 --> 00:10:13.760 spirit of divination is a subtler, if that's an English word, it's a subtler or more subtle disguised 00:10:13.760 --> 00:10:39.280 yet dangerous form of witchcraft and can only be spotted through discernment and can only be spotted 00:10:39.280 --> 00:10:55.920 through discernment. So we, so guys there's a progression here so it might be hard to keep track 00:10:55.920 --> 00:11:00.680 off so I might just repeat it a couple of times. We said that Jezebel is a spirit, we said that 00:11:00.680 --> 00:11:07.800 Jezebel means unhusbanded one or one who refuses to submit to any authority, we said that anyone 00:11:07.800 --> 00:11:15.240 who refuses to submit to authority and is an authority unto oneself is someone who ferments 00:11:15.240 --> 00:11:20.040 rebellion. Jezebel, the spirit of Jezebel, ferments rebellion in the household of God, 00:11:20.040 --> 00:11:29.400 in your house and in individual lives. Rebellion is akin to witchcraft. She came from a pedigree 00:11:29.400 --> 00:11:36.680 of priest-kings who practiced sorcery and divination and witchcraft and in scripture 00:11:36.680 --> 00:11:42.680 it is indicated that she was a princess priestess herself, skilled in sorcery as mentioned in 2 Kings 00:11:42.680 --> 00:11:49.160 9 which we'll come to later. And so rebellion is akin to witchcraft. So how does witchcraft 00:11:49.160 --> 00:11:56.600 operate in the church? No church, no decent church will openly practice witchcraft but witchcraft 00:11:56.600 --> 00:12:02.840 has another way of coming in. It comes in the form of divination and divination is a subtle, 00:12:02.840 --> 00:12:08.840 more disguised yet dangerous form of the same of witchcraft and can only be spotted through 00:12:08.840 --> 00:12:12.360 discernment. So let's kind of define divination a little more. 00:12:18.760 --> 00:12:23.000 Okay, I'm not sure where the scripture is but let me know once you find it. 00:12:23.640 --> 00:12:31.640 Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, just let me know. Divination is the ability to extract and foretell secrets of 00:12:32.360 --> 00:12:38.440 divination is the ability. Now this is not a Christian definition, it's just a definition. 00:12:39.160 --> 00:12:47.560 Divination is the ability to extract and foretell the secrets of so-called gods. 00:12:49.240 --> 00:12:55.720 That's what divination is. So you have to first manipulate the spirit world, extract from the 00:12:55.800 --> 00:13:01.080 spirit world secrets or mysteries and then you have to foretell it. That's the whole idea of 00:13:01.080 --> 00:13:09.560 divination. This girl who was following Paul in Acts chapter 16 was through certain means divining 00:13:09.560 --> 00:13:15.240 or extracting information from the spirit world that these ones who had come were servants of the 00:13:15.240 --> 00:13:19.240 most high god and that they were preaching a way of salvation. Surprisingly nice message 00:13:19.480 --> 00:13:25.400 would seem to be an endorsement and yet Jesus very clearly said when he was on the earth that he did 00:13:25.400 --> 00:13:33.640 not need the demons to endorse him or speak for him because whenever the demonic world endorses 00:13:33.640 --> 00:13:40.600 you know that it's a setup and there's a big big fall waiting and in fact the moment Paul opposes 00:13:40.600 --> 00:13:46.040 this particular spirit you know what happens right? He was doing fine. They beat him and put him in 00:13:47.000 --> 00:13:54.040 chains and throw him into prison because when this spirit is confronted it usually has a tendency to 00:13:54.040 --> 00:14:03.640 rise up just so you know we'll come there a little later. So today how does divination express 00:14:03.640 --> 00:14:16.280 itself in church? Through false doctrine, false prophecy, 00:14:16.280 --> 00:14:32.040 false systems. When I say false systems I mean 00:14:34.680 --> 00:14:39.640 thousands and thousands of churches are operating on faulty systems or structures, 00:14:39.640 --> 00:14:47.000 false systems or structures which have false prophecies when someone prophesies things either 00:14:47.000 --> 00:14:50.680 for a church or for a person that did not come from God and is actually error. 00:14:56.520 --> 00:15:01.560 That does not mean it's a false prophecy but it is possible for a prophecy to be false because it 00:15:01.560 --> 00:15:06.360 does not come from the spirit of God but it is something that comes from error. You see that on 00:15:06.360 --> 00:15:13.160 TV a lot. You see I've seen outright false prophecies on some of the 00:15:15.320 --> 00:15:22.200 reputed Christian TV channels where people come and say stuff that is an outright lie 00:15:23.400 --> 00:15:25.160 and most of it is usually to get money. 00:15:25.160 --> 00:15:35.880 Most of it is to get money. False systems, false order 00:15:44.280 --> 00:15:52.920 and false derivations as in they derive false conclusions from things that happen from 00:15:53.880 --> 00:15:57.240 false signs. 00:16:04.360 --> 00:16:11.080 When I went to Shillong they showed me a church where long ago the Welsh revival had started 00:16:11.080 --> 00:16:17.720 and the church has become quite famous because there's a cross in that church that begins to bleed. 00:16:17.720 --> 00:16:22.520 So now people are flocking to that church. Hindus, Muslims are flocking to that church 00:16:22.520 --> 00:16:32.520 because the cross lights up and it starts bleeding. It did but for that one eight or nine months 00:16:32.520 --> 00:16:38.040 it was ridiculous. Christ was not being presented. There's an outward sign that is drawing people 00:16:38.040 --> 00:16:42.840 but it was not raising up a Christ. It was raising up of a false notion of Christianity 00:16:43.240 --> 00:16:48.520 and they said that the church didn't know what to do and they mismanaged it so badly that it caused 00:16:48.520 --> 00:16:57.080 more shame to Christianity in Shillong than any good. So today divination which is an extracting 00:16:57.080 --> 00:17:05.080 of so-called supernatural mysteries through contact with things that are false and then 00:17:05.080 --> 00:17:10.520 foretelling it operates in these areas in the church where the Christian church is not 00:17:10.520 --> 00:17:16.200 in these areas in the church where you see false doctrine, you see false prophecy, 00:17:16.200 --> 00:17:21.720 you see false system set up in church for its operation, you see false order where the way a 00:17:21.720 --> 00:17:27.640 church is governed is ridiculous and has nothing to do with the Bible, you see false derivations 00:17:27.640 --> 00:17:34.360 meaning false conclusions are derived from things that happen or that from the word and false signs 00:17:34.360 --> 00:17:39.320 and wonders where you have feathers and gold dust and all kinds of silly things happening 00:17:39.320 --> 00:17:45.320 and it's all contrived, it's all supposedly God when it has nothing to do with God. 00:17:46.200 --> 00:17:48.440 So this is quite active in church. 00:17:59.480 --> 00:18:03.240 Yeah my people perish for the lack of knowledge. So one of the reasons 00:18:03.400 --> 00:18:06.200 It has to be a Jezebelian spirit. 00:18:06.200 --> 00:18:13.480 It for things that are false to things that are false have to rise not from the spirit of God. 00:18:14.760 --> 00:18:20.200 Anything that is false has to rise from a spirit other than the spirit of God that we are not able 00:18:20.200 --> 00:18:28.440 to discern it maybe because of a lack of an ability to exercise a gift or because of ignorance but it 00:18:28.520 --> 00:18:36.440 does emanate from a spirit that is false. A false prophecy comes from a spirit of deception. 00:18:46.040 --> 00:18:51.640 Oh no no I didn't say that I said that it is possible for a prophetic word to be spoken 00:18:52.280 --> 00:18:56.040 and it will still it may still not come to pass and it's a true word 00:18:56.040 --> 00:19:00.120 but it still doesn't come to pass because of multiple reasons. One a person may not accept it 00:19:00.920 --> 00:19:05.240 if you do not believe it you will not be established. Two a person does not 00:19:05.240 --> 00:19:09.400 war with it. Paul says to Timothy war with the word that has been spoken over you 00:19:10.280 --> 00:19:17.080 meaning take it grasp it and now begin to work with it. Three a person may not walk in it for 00:19:17.080 --> 00:19:22.680 years because he chooses to be lazy and doesn't want to walk in it fully. Four it might be 00:19:22.680 --> 00:19:31.400 partially fulfilled as in the case of Saul king Saul in the case of Jonah the reluctant prophet 00:19:31.400 --> 00:19:35.640 things that were spoken by God were partially fulfilled and there is someone like Paul in the 00:19:35.640 --> 00:19:42.040 Bible in whose life all the prophecies got fulfilled. So just because a prophetic word 00:19:42.040 --> 00:19:48.760 does not come to pass does not mean that the word is false. It may also be for a later date sometimes 00:19:48.760 --> 00:19:54.360 thank God Abraham didn't get fazed with the prophecy given over him because it took 25 00:19:54.360 --> 00:19:59.720 years for Isaac to happen. Part of the reason could have been that he was not cooperating with God but 00:19:59.720 --> 00:20:07.720 instead was cooperating with Hagar. So because the word does not happen doesn't necessarily mean that 00:20:07.720 --> 00:20:17.320 it is false. This is why we need to discern that which is false. You discern false prophecy. 00:20:18.280 --> 00:20:25.000 You wait and you discern it. False prophecies are usually things that people want to hear. 00:20:30.760 --> 00:20:34.680 Often said intentionally when it's not said intentionally it's called a non-prophecy. 00:20:36.920 --> 00:20:41.000 I've talked about this before but there's a nowadays in church there are three categories. 00:20:41.000 --> 00:20:46.840 There are true prophecies, there are false prophecies. True and false prophecies can be 00:20:46.840 --> 00:20:51.480 spotted pretty easily but nowadays there's something called a non-prophecy. A non-prophecy 00:20:51.480 --> 00:20:55.800 is neither true nor is it false. It's a bunch of nice words strung together and spoken. 00:20:56.840 --> 00:21:04.680 So it's best to just call it nice words that I want to say to you James. So it's not necessarily 00:21:05.320 --> 00:21:10.440 false but it didn't necessarily come from the heart of God. It came from my reading yesterday 00:21:10.440 --> 00:21:18.360 and my desire and good wishes for you. Yeah my sanctified soul spoke it. 00:21:20.760 --> 00:21:25.720 So that's non-prophecy. Non-prophecy is okay. It's just that there's a tendency 00:21:27.080 --> 00:21:31.800 to just go on in non-prophecy. So that's how you see that. 00:21:31.880 --> 00:21:37.800 So the problem with these six or seven things I've written down is all of them seem kosher 00:21:38.600 --> 00:21:43.400 if you don't have discernment. You won't know that doctrine is defective unless you have two 00:21:43.400 --> 00:21:50.280 things going for your discernment and the knowledge of the word. You won't know false 00:21:50.280 --> 00:21:55.080 prophecy unless you have discernment. You won't know false systems unless you have a knowledge 00:21:55.080 --> 00:21:59.960 of the word and discernment. You won't know false order till you have discernment. 00:21:59.960 --> 00:22:06.200 You won't know false order till you have knowledge of what the word says. You will have false 00:22:06.200 --> 00:22:11.160 derivations if you don't have the knowledge of the word and you will not be able to handle false 00:22:11.160 --> 00:22:16.200 signs if you don't have a knowledge of the word and don't have discernment. Guys some of the things 00:22:16.200 --> 00:22:23.400 we see on TV are so false and these are reputed reputed men of God who are operating in a spirit 00:22:23.400 --> 00:22:27.720 that is false. I'm not saying they're always operating in it but they've opened themselves 00:22:27.720 --> 00:22:31.400 sufficiently now to be operating in things that are false. 00:22:39.000 --> 00:22:41.720 None of them intended to start that way but that's where they are right now. 00:22:43.800 --> 00:22:48.680 As I said in Acts 16 16 the woman with the spirit of divination was saying all the right things on 00:22:48.680 --> 00:22:54.040 the surface but was setting up the situation. Paul had to deal with it and though there was a fall 00:22:54.040 --> 00:22:58.520 out when Paul confronted the spirit there was no shame brought to the gospel because he dealt with 00:22:58.520 --> 00:23:05.160 it immediately. Had Paul not said anything remember an endorsement from the demonic world 00:23:05.160 --> 00:23:13.640 for a preacher of the gospel is not going to be healthy because Jesus very clearly said that a 00:23:13.640 --> 00:23:20.040 kingdom divided cannot stand and he said that Satan's kingdom is not divided it's very together. 00:23:24.760 --> 00:23:32.280 Guess what the spirit of divination was known as in Greek. We talked about this many moons ago. 00:23:32.280 --> 00:23:38.280 The spirit of divination in Acts 16 16 was called the 00:23:38.280 --> 00:23:54.360 the Greek equivalent of the name. Supposedly, Apollo's had put to death 00:23:56.360 --> 00:24:02.840 Python and taken on the predictive properties of the Python spirit for himself. 00:24:03.320 --> 00:24:11.160 There was even a place in Greece where there used to be this big cave and people used to go there 00:24:11.160 --> 00:24:15.800 because they could hear strange hissings coming from the cave and they would go there to have 00:24:15.800 --> 00:24:20.280 prophecies spoken to them and the priest would then interpret the hissing that came from the cave. 00:24:22.040 --> 00:24:26.920 The spirit of python is what the spirit of divination is called in Greek. Some of the 00:24:26.920 --> 00:24:33.080 older bibles may have spirit of python instead of spirit of divination. 00:24:34.280 --> 00:24:38.200 Guys why is this important? Why bring it up? Because one of the things that happens with the 00:24:38.200 --> 00:24:42.600 spirit of divination which again is another name for Jezebel is that the spirit of divination has 00:24:42.600 --> 00:24:47.800 the ability to come into a church and over a period of time slowly coil around the church 00:24:47.800 --> 00:24:51.320 and through these falsehood begin to squeeze out the life of God in the church 00:24:51.320 --> 00:24:59.160 but at the same time whispering falsehoods. It has the ability to squeeze the god life out of people 00:24:59.160 --> 00:25:05.880 while whispering false doctrine, fermenting rebellion both moral and divine. 00:25:21.640 --> 00:25:23.880 So 00:25:28.120 --> 00:25:30.200 yeah any questions? 00:25:33.000 --> 00:25:39.640 Why do we need to know this now? One because ignorance is not bliss, it is really stupid to 00:25:39.640 --> 00:25:44.440 stay in ignorance and the devil has no respect for ignorance. Two because this has to do with 00:25:44.440 --> 00:25:47.880 the church and it has to do with your household. 00:25:52.120 --> 00:25:58.520 And so being informed allows us to take an informed stance against it. In this church 00:25:59.240 --> 00:26:03.960 there have been two or three occasions when I've had to deal with this.
