Phoebe, maybe that's not a good idea. 00:00:34.360 --> 00:00:46.760 Romans 15, 18 to 21. I'm reading from the New Living Translation. Romans 15, 18 to 21. 00:00:46.760 --> 00:00:51.240 So when I'm talking about healing, I'm talking about the fact that revivals should have healing 00:00:51.240 --> 00:00:59.320 as an essential component. People must be saved and people must be healed. That is the nature of 00:00:59.320 --> 00:01:06.960 the full gospel. And I'm praying tonight that that be something that God grants to us so that through 00:01:06.960 --> 00:01:12.920 us, like we sang, they may know that they can be healed, that they may know that he is their portion. 00:01:12.920 --> 00:01:20.040 Because it always went together and it was something that was prophesied over Acts 29 00:01:20.080 --> 00:01:27.440 in 2005, 2006, where a man who did not know me, he met me much later. His name was Keith Abraham. 00:01:27.440 --> 00:01:35.520 He was a guy who used to conduct all night worship services in the city. And so one of our guys from 00:01:35.520 --> 00:01:40.760 Acts 29 went there. When she went there, he began to prophesy. And one of the things he prophesied 00:01:40.760 --> 00:01:46.000 over Acts 29 was that there are wells of healing in this church. And this was before there was a 00:01:46.000 --> 00:01:54.240 church. I think there was two or three. We just barely made the church definition. And so that's 00:01:54.240 --> 00:02:02.720 what we want to explore today. So in Romans 15, 18 to 21, the thing is, guys, I don't have the 00:02:02.720 --> 00:02:08.160 ability to make this happen. Nobody has the ability to make this happen except God. So Romans chapter 00:02:08.160 --> 00:02:16.400 15, 18 to 21. Here's what it says, from reading from the New Living Translation, 00:02:16.400 --> 00:02:22.400 Yet I dare not boast about anything except what Christ has done through me, bringing the Gentiles 00:02:22.400 --> 00:02:29.440 to God by my message and by the way I worked among them. This is Paul talking. They were convinced 00:02:29.440 --> 00:02:35.040 by the power of miraculous signs and wonders and by the power of God's Spirit. In this way, 00:02:35.040 --> 00:02:42.200 I have fully presented the good news of Christ from Jerusalem all the way to Illricum. My ambition 00:02:42.200 --> 00:02:46.920 has always been to preach the good news where the name of Christ has never been heard rather than 00:02:46.920 --> 00:02:51.880 where a church has already been started by someone else. I've been following the plan spoken in the 00:02:51.880 --> 00:02:56.440 scriptures where it says, those who have never been told him will see and those who have never 00:02:56.440 --> 00:03:04.240 heard of him will understand. So a few points to gather from that simple scripture. I love the 00:03:04.240 --> 00:03:10.080 scriptures. One of my favorite Paul scriptures. It starts with this idea that I dare not boast 00:03:10.080 --> 00:03:15.520 about anything except what Christ has done. So only Christ can do this, what Christ has done. 00:03:15.520 --> 00:03:27.280 Nobody else can do this. What are we asking for? That God show himself as we take the gospel out, 00:03:27.280 --> 00:03:33.720 that he show himself through signs and wonders in this present revival, in the lives of the 00:03:33.720 --> 00:03:39.800 teens to 30s and in the lives of ones who are older. And that it becomes such a natural part 00:03:39.800 --> 00:03:44.560 of our lives that we hunger for it with the same compassion that Jesus had. We'll talk about that. 00:03:44.560 --> 00:03:51.600 I'm just running ahead because I can't keep it all together. So what Christ has done through me 00:03:51.600 --> 00:04:00.640 is will be a boast. The great thing is guys, this church has devolved enough to the point where 00:04:00.680 --> 00:04:06.360 everybody and anybody can do this. So you don't have to bring them to a place to get this done. 00:04:06.360 --> 00:04:14.040 So this is not like a crusade where someone is a healer and everybody comes and gets healed there. 00:04:14.040 --> 00:04:21.480 That's when this kind of doesn't work. Where what Christ has done through us, the boast doesn't 00:04:21.480 --> 00:04:27.420 work because everyone seems to have to come to a certain place and meet with a certain person for 00:04:27.420 --> 00:04:33.700 what Christ needs to be done to be done. But this church over the last two and a half or three years 00:04:33.700 --> 00:04:42.060 has devolved enough and has grown up enough to know that anybody and everybody can do this. And 00:04:42.060 --> 00:04:49.780 in the process Christ is the one who does the work because nobody looks at you and thinks you're 00:04:49.780 --> 00:04:54.060 someone important or you're someone famous or you're a pastor or you're anything. And yet through 00:04:54.060 --> 00:05:00.180 you Christ begins to work. And then Paul goes on to say, this is how I brought to the Gentiles my 00:05:00.180 --> 00:05:05.980 message and this is how I worked among them. This is how I worked among them. This is how I worked 00:05:05.980 --> 00:05:14.380 among them. And then he goes on to explain how he worked among them and that's when he says that 00:05:14.380 --> 00:05:20.140 they were convinced by the power. They were convinced, I love that, that people were convinced. Who 00:05:20.140 --> 00:05:26.140 were convinced? Gentiles. Who shall we call Gentiles today? We shall just call Gentiles today 00:05:26.140 --> 00:05:32.660 anyone who does not know Jesus. And they were convinced or persuaded, they were convinced or 00:05:32.660 --> 00:05:40.820 persuaded by the power of miraculous signs, by the power of miraculous signs, by the power of 00:05:40.820 --> 00:05:51.140 miraculous signs. They were convinced or persuaded by the power of miraculous signs, by the power of 00:05:51.140 --> 00:06:01.260 miraculous signs and wonders, by the power of miraculous signs and wonders and the power of 00:06:01.260 --> 00:06:10.140 God's Spirit. And so we know who is behind this. It's the power of God's Holy Spirit. This is who 00:06:10.140 --> 00:06:16.540 was doing it. And the Holy Spirit is everywhere and the Holy Spirit loves being expressed through 00:06:16.540 --> 00:06:20.540 you. It's one of his favorite things to do. Get up Jacob, get up. We've got things to do and places 00:06:20.540 --> 00:06:25.500 to go. You are my hands, you are my feet, you are my mouth today. Get up, let's go. I've got work to do. 00:06:25.500 --> 00:06:31.580 That's the Holy Spirit's attitude every morning. What, you're going to sleep already? There are 00:06:31.580 --> 00:06:38.940 still six hours left. That is the attitude. I think Dawn was falling off to sleep just now. 00:06:38.940 --> 00:06:49.740 So that's the Holy Spirit's desire that yes, he's the one who does the miraculous signs and wonders, 00:06:49.740 --> 00:06:57.820 but he preferred doing it through flesh and blood. And then Paul goes on to say, in this way I 00:06:57.820 --> 00:07:05.420 presented the gospel. In this way I presented the gospel. Isn't that beautiful? So he presented the 00:07:06.140 --> 00:07:11.820 gospel and we talked about what the gospel is and he said I presented the gospel this way. Which way? 00:07:12.860 --> 00:07:16.620 This way. I presented the gospel this way. 00:07:19.100 --> 00:07:24.140 By miraculous signs and wonders. They were convinced by this. By the power of God's Spirit. 00:07:24.140 --> 00:07:31.820 I presented the good news of Christ. Where? Only in Jerusalem? No, from Jerusalem to Illyricum. 00:07:31.820 --> 00:07:39.420 Jerusalem. All across. From Abbotsford to White Rock to Tawason. 00:07:42.940 --> 00:07:47.660 And then Paul goes on to say my ambition has always been to preach the good news where the 00:07:47.660 --> 00:07:55.660 name of Christ has never been heard. Rather, sorry, listen to this, hey. My ambition has always been 00:07:55.660 --> 00:07:59.340 to preach the good news. And how do you preach the good news and present the good news? You preach 00:07:59.340 --> 00:08:05.020 the good news and present the good news with accompanying power of miraculous signs and wonders 00:08:05.020 --> 00:08:09.740 and the power of God's Spirit. And his ambition has been to preach this good news where the name 00:08:09.740 --> 00:08:14.620 of Christ has never been heard. Rather than where a church has already been started by someone else. 00:08:15.820 --> 00:08:20.540 This is a New Living Translation. I love that. Rather than where a church has already been started. 00:08:20.620 --> 00:08:31.500 So on one hand we want to ignite the teen to thirties that exist in churches so that there's a 00:08:31.500 --> 00:08:38.460 blazing purity and devotion and passion for Christ. On the other hand, our intent should be 00:08:38.460 --> 00:08:46.380 for those that have not yet seen who Christ is. That's the nature of a revival. When it happens 00:08:46.380 --> 00:08:52.700 only within the church, that's reformation. Revival is when it spreads outside of the church 00:08:52.700 --> 00:09:02.140 because people outside are being drawn in. I've been following the plan spoken of in scriptures 00:09:02.140 --> 00:09:07.420 and what is this plan? And I love it. Paul keeps going back to the blueprint. He cannot afford to 00:09:07.420 --> 00:09:13.020 become someone who just does theology in a church like we are prone to do, like I am prone to do. 00:09:13.100 --> 00:09:16.700 But he says, I go back to the scriptures and here's what it says in scriptures. 00:09:16.700 --> 00:09:22.540 Those who have never been told about him will see. I love it. Listen to this. It's strange the 00:09:23.260 --> 00:09:38.700 juxtaposition of words. Those who have never heard, those who have never heard will see. 00:09:39.340 --> 00:09:45.820 See. Isn't that amazing? Here he uses the word heard. Here he uses the word see. Those who have 00:09:45.820 --> 00:09:53.500 never heard will see. Those who have never been told about him will see. It's not those who have 00:09:53.500 --> 00:10:00.220 never heard about him will hear. Those who have never heard about him will see. And those who 00:10:00.220 --> 00:10:07.740 have never heard about him will understand. Seeing and understanding comes through both words and 00:10:07.740 --> 00:10:20.460 deeds. Words and deeds. I want us to begin to think of this revival that is going global, 00:10:21.020 --> 00:10:28.700 starting with us, starting here. Oh, I forgot to tell you this. This happened after Sunday. 00:10:30.220 --> 00:10:37.180 So I pulled out this box that is hidden in one of the cupboards in my house and I pulled out the 00:10:37.180 --> 00:10:43.980 box and out of the box came a blue file from 2006-2007 when we didn't have iPhones and we 00:10:43.980 --> 00:10:50.700 used to have to write things on paper. And so I pulled it out and there's this paper on which 00:10:50.700 --> 00:10:57.500 in 2007, April or thereabouts, were the words that I've written that we will be forebringers of revival 00:10:58.540 --> 00:11:05.900 that will be followed by the wind of the Holy Spirit and fire and that it will not be a revival 00:11:05.900 --> 00:11:14.060 known for just power but will be known more for purity and devotion. This was in April of 2007. 00:11:14.700 --> 00:11:22.380 Just blew my mind, man. You cannot separate it. And if you were to combine both Matthew 8 17 and Isaiah 53 4 and if you were to read it from 00:13:03.260 --> 00:13:12.780 different versions basically what it says is that he took our sicknesses and diseases 00:13:12.780 --> 00:13:18.460 upon himself. But if you were to read NLT, if you were to read message, if you were to read NIV, 00:13:18.460 --> 00:13:24.460 if you were to read NKJV, if you were to read ESV, you were able to combine all the words used 00:13:25.260 --> 00:13:32.620 and Isaiah 53 verse 4, here's what you would come up with. It's beautiful. This is what you need to 00:13:32.620 --> 00:13:40.780 think for yourself and you need to think for others that he as in Jesus took the sicknesses 00:13:40.860 --> 00:13:42.380 as in Jesus took 00:13:46.460 --> 00:13:46.940 carried 00:13:49.740 --> 00:13:55.820 removed. These are the words used. Write it down and carry it with you. He carried our griefs and our sorrows. 00:14:09.020 --> 00:14:13.420 And then if you look at the word griefs and sorrows, you realize what it actually means in Hebrew. 00:14:15.740 --> 00:14:22.380 Sicknesses, diseases, infirmities. I remember doing that ages ago 00:16:02.300 --> 00:16:11.500 at Acts 29. The point being that he takes all this on. Therefore, 00:19:28.140 --> 00:19:36.300 we can now rebuke it because he has carried it. The second scripture that I want us to look at is 00:19:36.300 --> 00:19:44.540 Isaiah 53.5 and 1 Peter 2.24. Isaiah 53.5, Isaiah 53.5, 00:19:47.500 --> 00:19:54.060 and 1 Peter 2.24. They say the same thing. Isaiah 53.5 and 1 Peter 2.24. 00:19:54.460 --> 00:20:03.340 1 Peter 2.24 and Isaiah 53.5. 00:20:08.060 --> 00:20:15.180 Basically what it says is because Jesus was whipped, because Jesus was whipped, 00:20:16.140 --> 00:20:22.620 I, we, am healed. 00:20:25.420 --> 00:20:30.700 Because Jesus was whipped, I am healed. That whole chapter is a chapter of great exchange. 00:20:45.980 --> 00:20:52.380 So what's the exchange we are talking about? He was whipped. Isaiah 53.5 and 1 Peter 2.24 are basically encapsulating 00:22:04.460 --> 00:22:09.020 the great exchange in these simple words, by his stripes you were healed, as in when I was whipped, 00:22:09.020 --> 00:22:15.100 you were healed. How Jacob? Because all that was on you, all that was sent against you, all that 00:22:15.820 --> 00:22:23.260 you perhaps deserve because of your sin, all that fell on me as those scourges tore my back. 00:22:23.420 --> 00:22:28.860 But even as they were tearing my back and all that was put on me, I was putting on you what 00:22:28.860 --> 00:22:34.140 belonged to me and what belongs to me is very simple, wholeness, life, healing, peace. All that 00:22:34.140 --> 00:22:39.260 was mine became yours. All that was yours was put on me. This is why he was whipped and therefore 00:22:39.260 --> 00:22:43.900 by his whipping we are healed. And this is an eternal truth till we enter eternity. 00:22:43.900 --> 00:22:49.900 What is my response then? I can release and receive healing because Jesus was whipped for this exchange. 00:22:49.900 --> 00:22:57.820 I can receive and release healing. I can receive healing. Jesus, this is a great exchange. You're 00:22:57.820 --> 00:23:05.100 giving me your wholeness, your peace, your life, your healing and you're taking on yourself 00:23:05.100 --> 00:23:11.740 what you have been given to me. You're giving me your life, your healing, your peace, your life, 00:23:12.220 --> 00:23:17.580 and you're taking on yourself that which is sent against me, that which is a result of sin, 00:23:19.980 --> 00:23:25.820 that which is disease and decay on my body. You took it by your stripes and by the same stripes 00:23:25.820 --> 00:23:32.540 you release to me wholeness, life, healing and peace. I receive it, oh God. And Jesus, you didn't do 00:23:32.540 --> 00:23:38.140 this for just me. You did this for the entire world. I release it, oh God. I release it. We sometimes 00:23:38.140 --> 00:23:42.620 hesitate to say over non-Christians that by his stripes you are healed but the truth is by his 00:23:42.620 --> 00:23:47.260 stripes they are healed too. We think that is reserved only for Christians. 00:23:49.820 --> 00:23:53.500 By his stripes they are healed. The only difference is when you say by his stripes you are healed, 00:23:53.500 --> 00:23:58.460 they don't understand it. That may be the only good reason for not saying it but the reason behind it 00:23:58.460 --> 00:24:04.060 is this. He was striped for their healing. If he was crucified for their sins, he was also striped 00:24:04.060 --> 00:24:14.620 for their healing. It's a phrasalogy that perhaps is not legible to them. So you say be healed but 00:24:14.620 --> 00:24:27.660 understand the mechanics behind it. Guys, if these truths become solid in our hearts then it is very 00:24:27.660 --> 00:24:33.500 easy to give away solid truths to others. When it's not solid in our hearts then it becomes difficult 00:24:33.500 --> 00:24:38.700 to give it away because we are struggling with it. I was telling someone yesterday, it doesn't matter 00:24:38.700 --> 00:24:43.180 how many times I may have been healed in my life, when I'm struggling with sickness, the one place 00:24:43.180 --> 00:24:49.500 you go back to is scriptures. You rediscover the power and the faithfulness of God, how he did it, 00:24:49.500 --> 00:24:54.620 why he did it and what he is able and willing to do today. Able and willing to do today. Able and 00:24:54.620 --> 00:25:00.700 willing to do today. Able and willing to do today. He does this because of his tremendous love. We can 00:25:00.700 --> 00:25:09.500 never remove the love of God as a father towards us.
