00:01:51.000 --> 00:01:58.000 When something happens with a family member or with a friend, then the burden is heavier 00:01:58.000 --> 00:02:00.600 and the prayer comes out much easier. 00:02:00.600 --> 00:02:03.240 Like it's a supplication, it's a cry. 00:02:03.240 --> 00:02:11.560 But when prayer doesn't come from this place of burden, you require an exertion of self-will, 00:02:11.560 --> 00:02:15.760 like I have to somehow press in, and it is less effective. 00:02:15.960 --> 00:02:20.240 Often praying with a burden is what happens. 00:02:20.240 --> 00:02:26.040 When I pray with a burden, it often ends up or results in groanings of the spirit and 00:02:26.040 --> 00:02:30.800 sometimes praying in the spirit because words aren't enough. 00:02:30.800 --> 00:02:36.760 Praying with a burden often results in groanings of the spirit. 00:02:36.760 --> 00:02:44.000 Most revivals in the past have had instances where either it was this lady called Peggy 00:02:44.000 --> 00:02:51.360 and her sister Christine in the Hebrides who suddenly had this tremendous burden where 00:02:51.360 --> 00:02:57.520 they would meet night after night just praying that the churches that their fathers built 00:02:57.520 --> 00:03:01.680 would be filled with young people and it was something that they carried and they would 00:03:01.680 --> 00:03:02.680 weep and pray. 00:03:02.680 --> 00:03:08.480 I pray God that today he gives us that, eh? 00:03:08.480 --> 00:03:11.800 Because a burden allows you to co-labor with God's heart. 00:03:11.880 --> 00:03:15.960 A burden allows you to co-labor with God's heart. 00:03:15.960 --> 00:03:21.920 And the only time it lifts is when God's purpose is accomplished. 00:03:21.920 --> 00:03:28.920 The only time it lifts is when God's purpose is accomplished. 00:03:28.920 --> 00:03:30.720 It allows me to co-labor with God's heart. 00:03:30.720 --> 00:03:38.920 So one of the things I'm asking is, Father, we may stop meeting on a daily basis on Monday, 00:03:38.920 --> 00:03:48.320 but I would be so sad if all this that you have worked at, O God, ended on Monday. 00:03:48.320 --> 00:03:53.140 And therefore I need, O God, from you this burden that you carry. 00:03:53.140 --> 00:03:57.360 I saw you carrying it in Gethsemane. 00:03:57.360 --> 00:04:03.440 I've seen you carrying it in the lament that would come through the voice of prophets. 00:04:03.440 --> 00:04:08.400 I see you carrying it, Jesus, when you stood and looked at Jerusalem and said, O Jerusalem, 00:04:09.080 --> 00:04:14.080 I see you carrying it when you spoke through Paul and said in Romans chapter 9 00:04:14.080 --> 00:04:21.080 that I wish I was accursed and cut off so that my Jewish brothers and sisters would be saved. 00:04:21.080 --> 00:04:27.080 And so, Father, I just pray that this kind of burden is something that is given to this church. 00:04:27.080 --> 00:04:29.080 It'll be relatively new for us. 00:04:29.080 --> 00:04:35.080 But can you give it to us as a people so that we are able to co-labor with your heart? 00:04:35.760 --> 00:04:37.760 Co-labor with your heart. 00:04:37.760 --> 00:04:41.760 You're the one who does the work, but we can co-labor with your heart. 00:04:41.760 --> 00:04:45.760 And only lift it off us when you have accomplished what you want to. 00:04:45.760 --> 00:04:51.760 And often the release from the burden is the release to run with it. 00:04:51.760 --> 00:04:56.760 Or at some point God will release us from the burden of carrying this. 00:04:56.760 --> 00:04:59.760 And when he releases it, it doesn't mean the end of it. 00:04:59.760 --> 00:05:02.760 It means, okay, you've prayed enough and done what is required. 00:05:03.440 --> 00:05:05.440 Now run in it. Run in it. 00:05:08.440 --> 00:05:12.440 Reading from some of the things that happened at the Hebrides' revival. 00:05:12.440 --> 00:05:14.440 Let me read here. 00:05:14.440 --> 00:05:20.440 At the height of the revival, Duncan Campbell and Mr. McKay spent the morning in prayer 00:05:20.440 --> 00:05:24.440 with Peggy and Christine, the 80-year-olds who first cried out for revival. 00:05:26.440 --> 00:05:29.440 Peggy prayed, Lord, you remember what you told me this morning, 00:05:30.120 --> 00:05:36.120 that in this village you are going to save seven men who will become pillars in the church of my fathers. 00:05:36.120 --> 00:05:41.120 Lord, I've given your message to Mr. Campbell and it seems he's not prepared to receive it. 00:05:41.120 --> 00:05:45.120 Oh Lord, give him wisdom because he badly needs it. 00:05:45.120 --> 00:05:50.120 Campbell was probably 35 or something and these ladies were 82 and 84, 00:05:50.120 --> 00:05:53.120 so they had no problems praying it that way. 00:05:53.120 --> 00:05:57.120 Your message to Mr. Campbell and it seems he's not prepared to receive it. 00:05:57.800 --> 00:06:00.800 Oh Lord, give him wisdom because he badly needs it. 00:06:00.800 --> 00:06:05.800 All right, Peggy, I'll go to the village, said Duncan, when they had finished praying. 00:06:05.800 --> 00:06:09.800 She replied, you better and God will give you a congregation. 00:06:09.800 --> 00:06:17.800 Arriving in the village at seven o'clock, they found a large bungalow crowded to capacity with many assembled outside. 00:06:17.800 --> 00:06:20.800 Duncan preached out of his text, 00:06:20.800 --> 00:06:25.800 the times of this ignorance that God has winked at in the past is over 00:06:26.480 --> 00:06:29.480 and now he commands all men everywhere to repent. 00:06:29.480 --> 00:06:33.480 When he had finished preaching, a minister beckoned him to the end of the house 00:06:33.480 --> 00:06:37.480 to speak again to a number of people who were mourning over their sins, 00:06:37.480 --> 00:06:40.480 among them, Peggy's seven men. 00:06:40.480 --> 00:06:45.480 And those seven men later on went on to become some of the pillars in the church. 00:06:45.480 --> 00:06:51.480 This ability to carry a burden, it's not humanly possible, man. 00:06:51.480 --> 00:06:52.480 We cannot fabricate it. 00:06:53.160 --> 00:07:01.160 Anything that is, I mean, John 3, 6 is at once a horrible verse and a brilliant verse. 00:07:01.160 --> 00:07:08.160 It says that which is birthed from the flesh is flesh and that which is birthed from the spirit is spirit. 00:07:08.160 --> 00:07:13.160 Anything that we birth here in our enthusiasm, in our desire to serve God, 00:07:13.160 --> 00:07:19.160 in our desire to do what God wants us to do, in our desire of obedience, 00:07:19.840 --> 00:07:26.840 anything that we birth from flesh will decay and profits not either God or us. 00:07:26.840 --> 00:07:32.840 But anything birthed of the spirit is spirit and life. 00:07:32.840 --> 00:07:35.840 And that is something we've got to walk carefully, 00:07:35.840 --> 00:07:41.840 because these times of revival are times that we so want to be absolutely caught up in, 00:07:41.840 --> 00:07:44.840 but never at the cost of birthing things in flesh. 00:07:49.840 --> 00:07:56.840 So I pray today, I'm actually going to pray. 00:07:56.840 --> 00:08:02.840 Father, it's one thing to know how to define or describe burden. 00:08:02.840 --> 00:08:07.840 It's another thing to receive a burden. 00:08:07.840 --> 00:08:09.840 I don't know what other word to use. 00:08:09.840 --> 00:08:12.840 There may be better words that describe it better, 00:08:12.840 --> 00:08:15.840 but I'm just going to go with this simple word called burden, 00:08:16.520 --> 00:08:21.520 because I don't even know how it fleshes out and what it feels like to carry it. 00:08:21.520 --> 00:08:26.520 All I'm saying right now is, oh God, could you give us 00:08:30.520 --> 00:08:37.520 a burden for the words that you have spoken about this revival, 00:08:37.520 --> 00:08:44.520 that I will bring in this city, in other cities, in nations and across the earth, 00:08:45.200 --> 00:08:46.200 the young. 00:08:46.200 --> 00:08:53.200 Now show us how to carry this, how to cry for it, how to call out, 00:08:53.960 --> 00:08:59.000 how to be troubled by it, how to toss and turn in our sleep, 00:08:59.000 --> 00:09:04.000 unable to escape your heart. 00:09:04.000 --> 00:09:09.000 I don't want to be free from it, Father. 00:09:09.000 --> 00:09:14.300 I seek not to be free from it. 00:09:15.080 --> 00:09:18.080 Because you said, if I take your yoke, if we take your yoke, 00:09:18.080 --> 00:09:21.080 the burden is light. 00:09:21.080 --> 00:09:24.080 You will teach us how to walk under it. 00:09:24.080 --> 00:09:29.080 We want it. We want it. 00:09:29.080 --> 00:09:34.080 Your burdens always come from a place of affection, intimacy and care. 00:09:34.080 --> 00:09:36.080 And I want to carry it. We want to carry it. 00:09:36.080 --> 00:09:43.080 So we come today to learn, Father, how to work from this place of burden. 00:09:45.080 --> 00:09:48.680 Make us beasts of burden. 00:09:48.680 --> 00:09:51.120 Make us beasts of burden. 00:09:51.120 --> 00:09:56.920 Put a yoke on our neck, so that this revival that is a sovereign move of God 00:09:56.920 --> 00:09:59.760 will be something that we will be able to walk and step with you, 00:09:59.760 --> 00:10:04.760 as you do the work, and we witness your glory and carry your glory. 00:10:04.760 --> 00:10:07.880 Jesus, you'll have to pull all this thing together. 00:10:07.880 --> 00:10:09.380 I don't have the... 00:10:09.380 --> 00:10:11.880 It's not my pay grade, Father. 00:10:12.460 --> 00:10:15.460 It's way above my pay grade. 00:10:17.460 --> 00:10:23.460 Some of the scriptures that talk about what happens when one carries a burden like this, 00:10:23.460 --> 00:10:27.460 one of them is in Romans, chapter 9, verse 1 to 3. 00:10:27.460 --> 00:10:32.460 And I'm reading from different versions, Romans, chapter 9, verse 1 to 3. 00:10:32.460 --> 00:10:35.460 I mean, to be able to say it and actually mean it, 00:10:35.460 --> 00:10:39.460 so much so that it is included in scripture, 00:10:40.040 --> 00:10:43.040 because it must have been the truth, Romans, chapter 9, verse 1 to 3. 00:10:43.040 --> 00:10:47.040 At the same time, I don't have it, guys. 00:10:47.040 --> 00:10:48.040 I don't have it. I want it. 00:10:48.040 --> 00:10:50.040 I don't have this ability to say this. 00:10:50.040 --> 00:10:56.040 At the same time, you need to know that I carry with me at all times a huge sorrow. 00:10:56.040 --> 00:11:01.040 It's an enormous pain deep within me, and I'm never free of it. 00:11:01.040 --> 00:11:03.040 I'm not exaggerating. 00:11:03.040 --> 00:11:05.040 Christ and the Holy Spirit are my witnesses. 00:11:05.040 --> 00:11:09.040 I'd be willing to be forever cursed, cut off from Christ. 00:11:09.620 --> 00:11:13.620 If that would save my Jewish brothers and sisters. 00:11:48.200 --> 00:11:50.200 I want this. 00:11:52.200 --> 00:11:54.200 It becomes inescapable. 00:11:54.200 --> 00:11:56.200 Only God can give it. 00:11:56.200 --> 00:11:58.200 I can't make it. 00:12:01.200 --> 00:12:03.200 Here's another scripture. 00:12:03.780 --> 00:12:07.780 I'm taking a little out of context, but it kind of tells you what we're looking for. 00:12:07.780 --> 00:12:09.780 Lamentations 2.19 00:12:09.780 --> 00:12:11.780 Lamentations 2.19 00:12:13.780 --> 00:12:14.780 Lamentations 2.19 00:12:14.780 --> 00:12:16.780 And this is what I pray will happen to us. 00:12:16.780 --> 00:12:18.780 Arise, cry out in the night. 00:12:18.780 --> 00:12:20.780 As the watches of the night begin, 00:12:20.780 --> 00:12:23.780 pour out your heart like water in the presence of the Lord. 00:12:23.780 --> 00:12:26.780 Lift up your hands to him for the lives of your children, 00:12:26.780 --> 00:12:29.780 who faint from hunger at every street corner. 00:12:30.360 --> 00:12:37.360 I was just reading reports last week of young 19 year olds being shot in Richmond. 00:12:37.360 --> 00:12:40.360 And before that someone was shot in Burnaby. 00:12:40.360 --> 00:12:43.360 All between the ages of 19 and 25. 00:12:43.360 --> 00:12:45.360 Shot at street corners. 00:12:45.360 --> 00:12:48.360 I was reading the scripture and it came back to mind. 00:12:48.360 --> 00:12:51.360 Cry out in the night as the watches of the night begin. 00:12:51.360 --> 00:12:54.360 Pour out your heart like water in the presence of the Lord. 00:12:54.360 --> 00:12:57.360 Lift up your hands to him for the lives of your children, 00:12:57.940 --> 00:13:00.940 who faint from hunger at every street corner. 00:13:02.940 --> 00:13:04.940 I pray that this begins to happen to us. 00:13:04.940 --> 00:13:06.940 Both young and old in this church. 00:13:09.940 --> 00:13:11.940 I can't do it man. 00:13:11.940 --> 00:13:15.940 I can't even get to that kind of emotionalism and try to sustain it. 00:13:15.940 --> 00:13:17.940 You would exhaust yourself. 00:13:17.940 --> 00:13:19.940 It would have to be a God thing. 00:13:22.940 --> 00:13:24.940 That's what we'll be praying for today. 00:13:27.940 --> 00:13:29.940 So how do we go about it? 00:13:29.940 --> 00:13:38.940 What is it that will help us go to where God wants us to go? 00:13:38.940 --> 00:13:51.940 One, my cry for all of us is that we are able to say what Jesus says in John 4.10. 00:13:52.520 --> 00:13:54.520 And in John 4.10 he says, 00:13:54.520 --> 00:14:09.520 If you only knew the gift God has for you. 00:14:13.520 --> 00:14:16.520 I want this to break my heart every time I see a person 00:14:17.100 --> 00:14:19.100 who has a special gift to God. 00:14:19.100 --> 00:14:26.100 Especially given what God's specific intent is in terms of drawing the teens, the 20s and the 30s back to him. 00:14:28.100 --> 00:14:33.100 I want to be able to stand at wells where 3000 had been killed. 00:14:33.100 --> 00:14:37.100 Wells where Samaritans, the outcasts would gather. 00:14:37.100 --> 00:14:41.100 Wells where a woman with five husbands would come to draw water. 00:14:41.100 --> 00:14:45.100 And I want this to grab my heart and I want this to grab your heart. 00:14:45.680 --> 00:14:52.680 Where our statement every time we see someone who is in their teens or in their 20s or in their 30s 00:14:52.680 --> 00:14:55.680 is if you only knew the gift that God has for you. 00:14:58.680 --> 00:15:05.680 Something inside will so want to give them that gift even if it makes you highly unpopular. 00:15:05.680 --> 00:15:11.680 Even if it means being rejected, being rebuked, being laughed at or scorned. 00:15:12.260 --> 00:15:20.260 Miracles, prophetic words, words of knowledge, words of wisdom come after the initial statement. 00:15:20.260 --> 00:15:28.260 But it begins with this deep cry if you only knew the gift God has for you. 00:15:28.260 --> 00:15:34.260 I'm asking Holy Spirit that this will be something that you will just embed in our hearts. 00:15:34.840 --> 00:15:38.840 Every time we see a young man or a young woman, 00:15:38.840 --> 00:15:46.840 that this cry will come out of our hearts that if you only knew the gift God has for you. 00:15:46.840 --> 00:15:49.840 If you only knew the gift God has for you. 00:15:49.840 --> 00:15:54.840 And then the second question would be then how would he know the gift God has for him 00:15:54.840 --> 00:15:57.840 if you don't at present make an attempt to convey it. 00:15:58.420 --> 00:16:01.420 It is one thing to desire something for somebody, 00:16:01.420 --> 00:16:04.420 it is another thing to convey that desire to them. 00:16:10.420 --> 00:16:13.420 I started if you only knew the gift God has for you. 00:16:15.420 --> 00:16:17.420 Then I take it a step further. 00:16:20.420 --> 00:16:25.420 I pray God that he provides me opportunities, provides you opportunities. 00:16:26.000 --> 00:16:31.000 Second thing that I hope we'll pray today, and it's my cry for myself and for you, 00:16:31.000 --> 00:16:38.000 is that we have the eyes and the affection of the Father. 00:16:38.580 --> 00:16:41.580 We have the eyes and the affection of the Father. 00:16:44.580 --> 00:16:47.580 I was asking God today, Father where do we begin? 00:16:47.580 --> 00:16:49.580 And he said this is one of the places you begin. 00:16:50.580 --> 00:16:53.580 You must have my eyes and I must have your affection, 00:16:53.580 --> 00:16:56.580 and I tell you that it is not the eyes that you begin. 00:16:57.580 --> 00:17:00.580 It is the body that you begin. 00:17:00.580 --> 00:17:03.580 And it is the body that you begin. 00:17:03.580 --> 00:17:05.980 and he said, this is one of the places you begin. 00:17:07.320 --> 00:17:10.000 You must have my eyes and 00:18:44.660 --> 00:18:47.140 a scroll with writings on both sides 00:18:47.140 --> 00:18:48.800 and sealed with seven seals. 00:18:49.660 --> 00:18:52.380 And I saw a mighty angel proclaiming in a
