00:00:00.000 --> 00:00:28.400
So, let's sing Happy Birthday to Caleb.

00:00:28.400 --> 00:00:31.840
So if Caleb can stand because we don't know who Caleb is.

00:00:31.840 --> 00:00:32.840
Ah!

00:00:32.840 --> 00:00:38.400
Happy birthday to you.

00:00:38.400 --> 00:00:43.360
Happy birthday to you.

00:00:43.360 --> 00:00:47.640
Happy birthday dear Caleb.

00:00:47.640 --> 00:00:49.440
Yay!

00:00:49.440 --> 00:00:55.320
Happy birthday to you.

00:00:58.400 --> 00:01:01.400
Cool.

00:01:01.400 --> 00:01:04.840
How old?

00:01:04.840 --> 00:01:07.840
Really?

00:01:07.840 --> 00:01:12.800
Gosh.

00:01:12.800 --> 00:01:16.640
I was 20 in 1985.

00:01:16.640 --> 00:01:17.640
Okay.

00:01:17.640 --> 00:01:19.440
Moving on.

00:01:19.440 --> 00:01:21.000
Jeremiah 12-5.

00:01:21.000 --> 00:01:23.800
Jeremiah 12-5.

00:01:23.800 --> 00:01:27.080
Jeremiah 12-5.

00:01:27.080 --> 00:01:30.260
We've been...

00:01:30.260 --> 00:01:32.800
Was Derek's preaching okay last week?

00:01:32.800 --> 00:01:40.600
Yeah, sounds pretty bad, eh?

00:01:40.600 --> 00:01:52.200
Okay, moving on.

00:01:52.200 --> 00:01:54.440
Jeremiah 12-5.

00:01:54.440 --> 00:01:55.440
It says...

00:01:55.440 --> 00:01:56.440
So this is part three.

00:01:56.520 --> 00:01:57.520
Jeremiah 12-5.

00:01:57.520 --> 00:02:03.680
If you have raised with men on foot and they have worn you out, how can you compete with

00:02:03.680 --> 00:02:05.920
horses or how can you run with horses?

00:02:05.920 --> 00:02:11.020
If you stumble in safe country, how will you manage when the Jordan is flooded?

00:02:11.020 --> 00:02:14.760
If you stumble in safe country, how will you manage in the tickets of the Jordan or when

00:02:14.760 --> 00:02:16.320
the Jordan is flooded?

00:02:16.320 --> 00:02:18.520
So that was Jeremiah 12-5.

00:02:18.520 --> 00:02:25.520
And so the question being, and we said this before, that running with horses is not natural.

00:02:25.520 --> 00:02:29.200
Running with horses is not natural.

00:02:29.200 --> 00:02:31.620
Everything about it is supernatural.

00:02:31.620 --> 00:02:34.260
Running with horses is not natural.

00:02:34.260 --> 00:02:37.680
Everything about it is supernatural.

00:02:37.680 --> 00:02:40.520
What is unnatural is that...

00:02:40.520 --> 00:02:45.800
Is when Christians or when you and I do not have an appetite for the impossible, that's

00:02:45.800 --> 00:02:46.800
unnatural.

00:02:46.800 --> 00:02:47.800
Why?

00:02:47.800 --> 00:02:49.960
Because your God is supernatural.

00:02:49.960 --> 00:02:51.280
Just remember that equation.

00:02:51.280 --> 00:02:54.920
It's important that we remember that equation.

00:02:54.920 --> 00:02:59.220
Running with horses is not natural.

00:02:59.220 --> 00:03:02.520
Everything about it is supernatural.

00:03:02.520 --> 00:03:09.600
What is unnatural is when you and I do not have an appetite for the impossible.

00:03:09.600 --> 00:03:11.320
Why?

00:03:11.320 --> 00:03:16.120
Because our God is supernatural and not to have an appetite for the impossible shows

00:03:16.120 --> 00:03:18.440
you the gap between me and God.

00:03:18.920 --> 00:03:26.680
And we said when we started that most of us don't live with an appetite for the impossible.

00:03:26.680 --> 00:03:34.800
If anything, the impossible becomes a challenge and it's like, ah shucks, not again.

00:03:34.800 --> 00:03:42.840
And everybody in Hebrews 11 went, ah shucks, praise God again.

00:03:42.840 --> 00:03:47.560
Very odd the way they reacted and the way we react.

00:03:47.560 --> 00:03:49.840
And so that's where we started.

00:03:49.840 --> 00:03:55.160
And so here it talks about how if you have raced with men on foot and they have worn

00:03:55.160 --> 00:03:57.440
you out, how are you going to run with the horses?

00:03:57.440 --> 00:04:04.400
As in if the natural and the demands of the natural are beginning to wear you out, how

00:04:04.400 --> 00:04:06.600
are you going to handle the supernatural?

00:04:06.600 --> 00:04:08.040
How are you going to run with the horses?

00:04:08.040 --> 00:04:16.680
Or the other part says, if you have gotten weary running on plain ground, as in in natural

00:04:16.680 --> 00:04:22.520
circumstances, how are you going to handle it when the Jordan is flooded?

00:04:22.520 --> 00:04:27.040
Because once it gets flooded, how are you going to cross over?

00:04:27.040 --> 00:04:32.080
And strangely enough, there was a bunch of guys in the Old Testament who actually fit

00:04:32.080 --> 00:04:34.440
this bill.

00:04:34.440 --> 00:04:36.520
They were called the Gadites.

00:04:36.520 --> 00:04:40.240
If you go to 1 Chronicles 12, you'll read about them.

00:04:41.240 --> 00:04:49.280
You'll read about guys who actually fit Jeremiah 12.5, the Jeremiah 12.5 description.

00:04:49.280 --> 00:04:56.720
So if you go to 1 Chronicles 12, 1 Chronicles 12, Chronicles is before Nehemiah, after Kings.

00:04:56.720 --> 00:05:04.240
1 Chronicles 12, and you go to verse 15, 14 and 8.

00:05:04.240 --> 00:05:08.760
15, 14 and 8, you'll find out about the Gadites.

00:05:08.760 --> 00:05:15.480
So 1 Chronicles 12, 15, here's what it says, starting at verse 15, and then I'll go to

00:05:15.480 --> 00:05:17.440
14 and then to 8.

00:05:17.440 --> 00:05:23.160
The Gadites were the ones who crossed the Jordan in the first month when it was overflowing

00:05:23.160 --> 00:05:24.160
all its banks.

00:05:24.160 --> 00:05:26.080
Remember what Jeremiah said?

00:05:26.080 --> 00:05:30.400
And now here are the Gadites who crossed the Jordan in the first month when it was overflowing

00:05:30.400 --> 00:05:31.400
all its banks.

00:05:31.400 --> 00:05:35.720
And they put to flight everyone living in the valleys to the east and to the west.

00:05:35.920 --> 00:05:37.240
Then go to verse 14.

00:05:37.240 --> 00:05:39.880
These Gadites were army commanders.

00:05:39.880 --> 00:05:43.320
The least was a match for a hundred and the greatest for a thousand.

00:05:43.320 --> 00:05:51.880
Now remember, this is not, while the Bible does indulge in hyperbole, in situations like

00:05:51.880 --> 00:05:55.880
this, it's not saying that they could not.

00:05:55.880 --> 00:06:00.120
It was that there were times when one man would stand in the middle of a lentil field

00:06:00.120 --> 00:06:05.000
with a sword in his hand and he would actually slay 300 people.

00:06:05.000 --> 00:06:07.720
So these are not exaggerations.

00:06:07.720 --> 00:06:13.080
We know that when we look at the mighty three or the mighty 30, that they actually did that.

00:06:13.080 --> 00:06:18.160
So this isn't some kind of exaggerated version that 1 Chronicles is coming up with.

00:06:18.160 --> 00:06:24.080
But these guys were warriors who had the ability to sometimes, one man could take care of a

00:06:24.080 --> 00:06:27.960
hundred and ten could take care of a thousand.

00:06:27.960 --> 00:06:29.600
These were those kind of men.

00:06:29.600 --> 00:06:30.840
That's how God raised them.

00:06:31.240 --> 00:06:35.600
And so they do qualify for the Jeremiah 12.5 kind of people.

00:06:35.600 --> 00:06:36.600
And then go to verse 8.

00:06:36.600 --> 00:06:38.600
And in verse 8 it says,

00:06:52.600 --> 00:06:56.600
And so what does it take to run with the horses?

00:06:56.680 --> 00:07:03.280
I'd suggest that we look at some of the ways the Gaddaids behaved and figure out what it

00:07:03.280 --> 00:07:07.400
takes to run with the horses because they seem to qualify.

00:07:07.400 --> 00:07:21.560
So the first thing we need to look at is that this idea of the majority of one, the majority

00:07:22.520 --> 00:07:28.680
As in, how is it that a people are able to match a hundred?

00:07:28.680 --> 00:07:39.480
The least of them, the least of them could battle a hundred.

00:07:39.480 --> 00:07:45.480
And the greatest of them could take on a thousand.

00:07:45.480 --> 00:07:46.480
How?

00:07:47.400 --> 00:07:51.400
It's because of this idea called the majority of one.

00:07:51.400 --> 00:07:54.400
Samson did that.

00:07:54.400 --> 00:07:55.400
What would he do?

00:07:55.400 --> 00:07:56.400
He'd go pick up a jawbone.

00:07:56.400 --> 00:07:58.400
And with a jawbone he'd slay 300 Philistines.

00:07:58.400 --> 00:07:59.400
How's that possible?

00:07:59.400 --> 00:08:00.400
Very simple.

00:08:00.400 --> 00:08:03.400
Proceeding all these verses, you'll hear the simple verse saying,

00:08:07.400 --> 00:08:12.920
The idea of running with horses is almost impossible if I'm not able or do not have

00:08:13.360 --> 00:08:19.960
the capacity to receive into my life the Spirit of God to the point that he gets to do whatever

00:08:19.960 --> 00:08:21.720
he wants through me.

00:08:21.720 --> 00:08:23.320
Whatever he wants.

00:08:23.320 --> 00:08:28.500
This is what we talked about yesterday when we said double portion is not twice the Spirit.

00:08:28.500 --> 00:08:34.140
It is twice the capacity to increase or become twice as much you are in terms of being able

00:08:34.140 --> 00:08:37.140
to receive the Spirit.

00:08:37.140 --> 00:08:38.720
That's how this works.

00:08:38.720 --> 00:08:42.500
Every time Samson did it, every time one of David's men did it.

00:08:43.080 --> 00:08:46.940
Every time anybody in the Bible did something it was because suddenly the Holy Spirit would

00:08:46.940 --> 00:08:48.200
come and dwell upon them.

00:08:48.200 --> 00:08:50.320
He was in present then 24-7.

00:08:50.320 --> 00:08:51.320
Now he is.

00:08:51.320 --> 00:08:59.080
And we should actually be in a position to at command jump into this.

00:08:59.080 --> 00:09:04.080
That's how in this present date people are able to go and open doors.

00:09:04.080 --> 00:09:06.720
To dig up ancient wells.

00:09:06.720 --> 00:09:07.720
That's how it works.

00:09:07.720 --> 00:09:08.840
And it's absolutely possible.

00:09:08.840 --> 00:09:11.200
I assure you, you will.

00:09:11.900 --> 00:09:16.900
And I say you, it's both a corporate view and an individual view for anyone who is willing.

00:09:16.900 --> 00:09:19.900
I assure you, we will.

00:09:20.900 --> 00:09:25.900
Any questions on that before we go on?

00:09:25.900 --> 00:09:30.900
Okay.

00:09:30.900 --> 00:09:34.900
So if you go to Isaiah 60 verse 22, you see that again.

00:09:34.900 --> 00:09:37.900
Isaiah 60 verse 22.

00:09:38.600 --> 00:09:43.600
If you read it from the message, it calls the least of them the runt.

00:09:43.600 --> 00:09:50.600
Isaiah 60 verse 22.

00:09:50.600 --> 00:09:53.600
It says, the runt will become a great tribe.

00:09:53.600 --> 00:09:55.600
The weakling become a strong nation.

00:09:55.600 --> 00:09:56.600
I am God.

00:09:56.600 --> 00:09:57.600
At the right time, I'll make it happen.

00:09:57.600 --> 00:09:59.600
I love statements like that.

00:09:59.600 --> 00:10:05.600
The runt will become a great tribe.

00:10:05.600 --> 00:10:07.600
The weakling become a strong nation.

00:10:08.300 --> 00:10:10.300
And then, how do you know this will happen?

00:10:10.300 --> 00:10:13.300
Because I am God and I'll make it happen at the right time.

00:10:13.300 --> 00:10:17.300
Let's look at the NIV.

00:10:17.300 --> 00:10:19.300
The least of you will become a thousand.

00:10:19.300 --> 00:10:22.300
The smallest a mighty nation.

00:10:22.300 --> 00:10:23.300
I am the Lord.

00:10:23.300 --> 00:10:26.300
In its time, I will do this swiftly.

00:10:27.300 --> 00:10:34.300
And if you think this is going to happen with somebody else, then that's an absurd way to leave.

00:10:35.000 --> 00:10:42.000
Every promise that is given in the scriptures should be something you desire, that you long for, that you see it in your days.

00:10:42.000 --> 00:10:45.000
Lord, I have seen, I've heard of your...

00:10:45.000 --> 00:10:48.000
Don't remember the song?

00:10:48.000 --> 00:10:53.000
I have heard of your deeds, I stand in awe of your...

00:10:53.000 --> 00:10:55.000
Nope, okay, moving on.

00:10:55.000 --> 00:11:02.000
So, where there is a desire to see again what happened in the Old Testament and the New Testament.

00:11:02.700 --> 00:11:09.700
Because remember guys, as the river begins to flow further from the throne, what happens? It increases in depth.

00:11:09.700 --> 00:11:16.700
And so we are not supposed to be stuck in the New Testament church, we are supposed to be stuck in the church that waits for us tomorrow.

00:11:16.700 --> 00:11:18.700
Greater than what happened in the New Testament.

00:11:18.700 --> 00:11:23.700
We can look back at that as a reference point, but that is not the limit.

00:11:23.700 --> 00:11:25.700
We go further than that.

00:11:26.400 --> 00:11:34.400
So, when it comes to the majority of one, you'll find that whenever a people took upon themselves

00:11:41.400 --> 00:11:45.400
the task of accomplishing anything

00:11:48.400 --> 00:11:53.400
through natural means

00:11:56.400 --> 00:12:01.400
striving, help

00:12:02.400 --> 00:12:09.400
they at best did better than most humans.

00:12:17.400 --> 00:12:21.400
So if you go to Isaiah 30 verse 15, you'll see this working out.

00:12:21.400 --> 00:12:23.400
Isaiah 30 verse 15.

00:12:23.400 --> 00:12:25.400
Isaiah 30 verse 15.

00:12:26.400 --> 00:12:28.400
I was talking to somebody about this earlier today.

00:12:29.400 --> 00:12:31.400
Isaiah 30 verse 15.

00:12:37.400 --> 00:12:39.400
Oh, let's go to verse 16.

00:12:39.400 --> 00:12:41.400
Isaiah 30 verse 16.

00:12:41.400 --> 00:12:45.400
You said, no we will flee on horses, therefore you will flee.

00:12:45.400 --> 00:12:50.400
You said, we will ride off on swift horses, therefore your pursuers will be swift.

00:12:50.400 --> 00:12:55.400
Go back to verse 12.

00:12:56.100 --> 00:12:58.100
Therefore, this is what the Holy One of Israel says.

00:12:58.100 --> 00:13:02.100
Because you have rejected this message, relied on oppression, depended on deceit,

00:13:02.100 --> 00:13:06.100
sin will become for you like a high wall cracked and bulging.

00:13:06.100 --> 00:13:11.100
He goes on to say before that, that when Israel needed help, go to verse two, or verse one.

00:13:11.100 --> 00:13:15.100
War to the obstinate children declares the Lord, to those who carry out plans that are not mine,

00:13:15.100 --> 00:13:19.100
forming an alliance but not by my spirit, heaping sin upon sin,

00:13:19.100 --> 00:13:23.100
who go down to Egypt without consulting me, who look for help to Pharaoh's protection,

00:13:23.800 --> 00:13:25.800
to Egypt's shade for refuge.

00:13:25.800 --> 00:13:33.800
Every time I begin to depend on any other primary source other than God first,

00:13:33.800 --> 00:13:43.800
it's a recipe for at best doing better than average or at worst making huge mistakes that will cost me.

00:13:44.800 --> 00:13:50.800
It doesn't matter in which area, is it your job, is it sickness, is it finances.

00:13:51.500 --> 00:13:57.500
Any area where my primary source is not God or He's not the first person I turn to,

00:13:57.500 --> 00:14:01.500
it doesn't matter whether it's preaching, whether it's worship, whether it's church,

00:14:01.500 --> 00:14:08.500
whether it's putting things together, any area where my first call or cry is not to God

00:14:08.500 --> 00:14:12.500
and my primary source is not to God, it's a recipe for two things.

00:14:12.500 --> 00:14:18.500
Either I'll average out or do slightly better than average or two, it'll be disastrous.

00:14:19.200 --> 00:14:23.200
The opposite of faith is not doubt, the opposite of faith is self-reliance.

00:14:23.200 --> 00:14:28.200
The opposite of faith is not doubt, the opposite of faith is self-reliance.

00:14:28.200 --> 00:14:34.200
Every time I'm self-reliant or reliant on someone else before I turn to Him and cry out to Him,

00:14:34.200 --> 00:14:40.200
it's a recipe for either disaster or for doing just above average.

00:14:40.200 --> 00:14:44.200
And therefore in Isaiah 30 verse 15, here's what God says.

00:14:44.900 --> 00:14:48.900
God says, in returning and rest is your salvation.

00:14:48.900 --> 00:14:52.900
In quietness and strength you will find relief.

00:14:52.900 --> 00:14:55.900
And so at the end of the day, when you are confused,

00:14:55.900 --> 00:15:01.900
go from wrestling and confusion to this place of rest, to a place of resolution.

00:15:01.900 --> 00:15:02.900
Three stages, eh?

00:15:02.900 --> 00:15:05.900
Every time you're confused and we have confusion every day,

00:15:06.600 --> 00:15:11.600
every time I'm confused, I go wrestling, confusion,

00:15:13.600 --> 00:15:18.600
to a place of rest,

00:15:18.600 --> 00:15:26.600
to a place of resolution, where God resolves things.

00:15:26.600 --> 00:15:28.600
This is the progression.

00:15:30.600 --> 00:15:33.600
What we do is we go from wrestling, confusion to two places.

00:15:34.300 --> 00:15:44.300
Help from natural resources or prayer.

00:15:46.300 --> 00:15:51.300
While this seems good, the place we need to go to is this place called rest.

00:15:51.300 --> 00:15:56.300
And what is rest? Rest is seizing from striving.

00:15:56.300 --> 00:16:00.300
How do we, what does rest look like in the Bible?

00:16:01.000 --> 00:16:04.000
Rest is seizing from striving.

00:16:10.000 --> 00:16:12.000
Self-effort.

00:16:14.000 --> 00:16:16.000
Sweating it out.

00:16:19.000 --> 00:16:21.000
Machinations.

00:16:24.000 --> 00:16:26.000
Exertion.

00:16:26.700 --> 00:16:28.700
Warring thoughts.

00:16:32.700 --> 00:16:41.700
It's to seize or desist from all striving

00:16:43.700 --> 00:16:48.700
and instead get into a place

00:16:49.400 --> 00:17:08.400
where I only do exactly what I am directed by God.

00:17:08.400 --> 00:17:13.400
Which is why you can't enter into rest

00:17:19.400 --> 00:17:31.400
without, one, hearing, and two, obeying the word

00:17:32.400 --> 00:17:37.400
because you actually believe it.

00:17:37.400 --> 00:17:39.400
It's in Hebrews 4.

00:17:41.400 --> 00:17:43.400
Yep?

00:17:44.100 --> 00:17:48.100
Because that's where we normally go.

00:17:48.100 --> 00:17:52.100
What do children do when they are in trouble?

00:17:52.100 --> 00:17:55.100
They immediately call out to their parents, help.

00:17:55.100 --> 00:17:57.100
And that's nice when they are children.

00:17:57.100 --> 00:18:02.100
But as children grow up, you expect them not to go that route.

00:18:02.100 --> 00:18:06.100
You expect them to have learned how to find other ways

00:18:06.100 --> 00:18:08.100
to deal with the situation they are in.

00:18:08.100 --> 00:18:12.100
So while help is a nice thing,

00:18:12.800 --> 00:18:14.800
let that be as you grow older,

00:18:14.800 --> 00:18:17.800
something that happens after you have tried everything else

00:18:17.800 --> 00:18:19.800
the Lord has taught you.

00:18:19.800 --> 00:18:22.800
Rest is a place where you come into this place

00:18:22.800 --> 00:18:24.800
where there's no striving, there's no self-effort.

00:18:24.800 --> 00:18:26.800
On one hand, you are childlike.

00:18:26.800 --> 00:18:28.800
On the other hand, you're not childish.

00:18:28.800 --> 00:18:32.800
You're childlike in resting in the goodness of the Father

00:18:32.800 --> 00:18:35.800
and knowing that I am not going to do a thing more

00:18:35.800 --> 00:18:38.800
than what I am being directed to do.

00:18:38.800 --> 00:18:40.800
Not a thing more.

00:18:41.500 --> 00:18:43.500
Not one iota more.

00:18:43.500 --> 00:18:47.500
Even if it means that I am not able to provide for myself

00:18:47.500 --> 00:18:49.500
not one iota more,

00:18:49.500 --> 00:18:51.500
because that's what he has asked me to do

00:18:51.500 --> 00:18:53.500
and I will not do anything else.

00:18:53.500 --> 00:18:55.500
If the brook dries up, I'll have to wait

00:18:55.500 --> 00:18:57.500
till he tells me to go to the woman

00:18:57.500 --> 00:19:00.500
who has very little oil and flour.

00:19:00.500 --> 00:19:03.500
If the ravens stop, I'll have to wait.

00:19:05.500 --> 00:19:07.500
That is the very definition of rest.

00:19:07.500 --> 00:19:09.500
When you are in trouble,

00:19:10.200 --> 00:19:12.200
you go for rest.

00:19:12.200 --> 00:19:14.200
While prayer will immediately cry,

00:19:14.200 --> 00:19:16.200
I need food, please help me, I'm hungry.

00:19:16.200 --> 00:19:18.200
That's good, but that's not the best.

00:19:18.200 --> 00:19:20.200
Go for rest before you go for

00:19:20.200 --> 00:19:22.200
this thing called help.

00:19:28.200 --> 00:19:32.200
No, I'm saying our usual tendency is to cry out to God for help

00:19:32.200 --> 00:19:36.200
and not find the help that God has already taught us to practice.

00:19:40.200 --> 00:19:42.200
Yeah.

00:19:42.200 --> 00:19:44.200
But the point is

00:19:44.200 --> 00:19:47.200
instead of crying out for help, learn how to walk in.

00:19:47.200 --> 00:19:49.200
Rest.

00:19:49.200 --> 00:19:51.200
Rest is the solution, guys.

00:19:51.200 --> 00:19:53.200
Rest allows you to walk in the supernatural

00:19:53.200 --> 00:19:55.200
because now you refuse to do anything natural.

00:19:55.200 --> 00:19:57.200
You refuse to provide for yourself

00:19:57.200 --> 00:19:59.200
any other way.

00:19:59.200 --> 00:20:01.200
Rest is so supernatural that you don't even use

00:20:01.200 --> 00:20:03.200
the power you have from God.

00:20:03.200 --> 00:20:05.200
What do you think Jesus is doing in Luke chapter 4

00:20:05.200 --> 00:20:07.200
when he goes into this place called rest

00:20:07.900 --> 00:20:09.900
when he refuses to turn

00:20:09.900 --> 00:20:11.900
stone into bread.

00:20:11.900 --> 00:20:13.900
He had the power to, which is why the devil is saying

00:20:13.900 --> 00:20:15.900
you can turn stone into bread.

00:20:15.900 --> 00:20:17.900
But he is into such deep rest

00:20:17.900 --> 00:20:19.900
as in such leaning back

00:20:19.900 --> 00:20:21.900
on only what the father commands.

00:20:23.900 --> 00:20:25.900
He won't even use

00:20:25.900 --> 00:20:27.900
legitimate power

00:20:27.900 --> 00:20:29.900
to change things to his advantage.

00:20:29.900 --> 00:20:31.900
How crazy is that?

00:20:31.900 --> 00:20:33.900
He isn't even using the power he has

00:20:33.900 --> 00:20:35.900
legitimately, divinely

00:20:36.600 --> 00:20:38.600
to take care of his needs.

00:20:40.600 --> 00:20:42.600
That's just nuts.

00:20:42.600 --> 00:20:44.600
People would say he should have used his common sense.

00:20:44.600 --> 00:20:46.600
He didn't.

00:20:46.600 --> 00:20:48.600
His common sense would have dictated

00:20:48.600 --> 00:20:50.600
you're hungry, 40 days is a lot,

00:20:50.600 --> 00:20:52.600
eat something, turn the stones into bread.

00:20:52.600 --> 00:20:54.600
Refuses to.

00:20:58.600 --> 00:21:00.600
This is why Hebrews chapter 4 says

00:21:00.600 --> 00:21:02.600
labor to enter into rest.

00:21:02.600 --> 00:21:04.600
It's not natural. Labor.

00:21:05.300 --> 00:21:07.300
You have to strive to stop striving.

00:21:09.300 --> 00:21:11.300
Crazy, eh?

00:21:11.300 --> 00:21:13.300
But these are the people that end up doing

00:21:13.300 --> 00:21:15.300
supernatural things. These are the people

00:21:15.300 --> 00:21:17.300
that end up building an ark for ages

00:21:17.300 --> 00:21:19.300
not having seen rain ever. These are the people

00:21:19.300 --> 00:21:21.300
that go around the city till the walls

00:21:21.300 --> 00:21:23.300
fall.

00:21:23.300 --> 00:21:26.000
I'm not a believer. I'm just right.

00:21:54.000 --> 00:21:56.000
God, that's why he's God.

00:21:56.000 --> 00:21:58.000
And I'm not.

00:21:58.000 --> 00:22:00.000
I actually agree with you.

00:22:00.000 --> 00:22:02.000
It's counterintuitive.

00:22:06.000 --> 00:22:08.000
Let me give you an example.

00:22:08.000 --> 00:22:10.000
The question was

00:22:10.000 --> 00:22:12.000
Jacob, what does that look like?

00:22:14.000 --> 00:22:16.000
I was going to talk about this at the end

00:22:16.000 --> 00:22:18.000
but as usual, Dilna makes me talk things.

00:22:18.700 --> 00:22:20.700
I just like doing this to you, Dilna.

00:22:20.700 --> 00:22:22.700
It's unfortunate you're in the same age bracket

00:22:22.700 --> 00:22:24.700
as I am. There I go and do it again.

00:22:30.700 --> 00:22:32.700
So this was, so I had this opportunity

00:22:32.700 --> 00:22:34.700
to practice rest when I was

00:22:34.700 --> 00:22:36.700
away in India visiting my mom.

00:22:36.700 --> 00:22:38.700
So I go in there and she's got

00:22:38.700 --> 00:22:40.700
a catheter and then a tube up her nose

00:22:40.700 --> 00:22:42.700
and then a tube in her hands and

00:22:42.700 --> 00:22:44.700
has a tube in her hand.

00:22:44.700 --> 00:22:46.700
So I go in there and she's got a catheter

00:22:47.400 --> 00:22:49.400
in her hands and had a stroke and she's lying there.

00:22:49.400 --> 00:22:51.400
And I've seen this happen to my dad

00:22:51.400 --> 00:22:53.400
and it wasn't a pleasant experience

00:22:53.400 --> 00:22:55.400
and I'm seeing her right now. I'm thinking

00:22:55.400 --> 00:22:57.400
what do I do? So even before I get there

00:22:57.400 --> 00:22:59.400
my question to God, and I wrote this down

00:22:59.400 --> 00:23:01.400
that's why I'm reading it, I'll tell you.

00:23:01.400 --> 00:23:03.400
My question was

00:23:03.400 --> 00:23:05.400
I've got it in my notes.

00:23:05.400 --> 00:23:07.400
My question was, Father

00:23:07.400 --> 00:23:09.400
what's your take on Amma?

00:23:09.400 --> 00:23:11.400
What is your take on Amma, Lord?

00:23:11.400 --> 00:23:13.400
That I may walk rightly.

00:23:13.400 --> 00:23:15.400
Look at the question. The question isn't

00:23:16.100 --> 00:23:18.100
Oh God heal her, oh God help.

00:23:18.100 --> 00:23:20.100
It's what's your take on Amma, oh God?

00:23:20.100 --> 00:23:22.100
So that I may walk rightly.

00:23:22.100 --> 00:23:24.100
Rightly where? Rightly for whom?

00:23:24.100 --> 00:23:26.100
For whom? For Him.

00:23:26.100 --> 00:23:28.100
How do I walk this rightly? Because if I walk

00:23:28.100 --> 00:23:30.100
rightly for Him, I'll walk rightly for everybody.

00:23:30.100 --> 00:23:32.100
So the question I'm asking

00:23:32.100 --> 00:23:34.100
as I'm flying in is

00:23:34.100 --> 00:23:36.100
what's your take, oh God?

00:23:36.100 --> 00:23:38.100
What's your take on Amma, Lord, that I may walk rightly?

00:23:38.100 --> 00:23:40.100
What's my expectation?

00:23:40.100 --> 00:23:42.100
And then that was my only question

00:23:42.100 --> 00:23:44.100
and the first thing I hear is, listen.

00:23:44.800 --> 00:23:46.800
Keep dreaming forward.

00:23:46.800 --> 00:23:48.800
Every day I'll tell you what to do

00:23:48.800 --> 00:23:50.800
and when I tell you to do it, pray that

00:23:50.800 --> 00:23:52.800
establish that as a baseline and dream forward.

00:23:52.800 --> 00:23:54.800
So

00:23:54.800 --> 00:23:56.800
given that

00:23:56.800 --> 00:23:58.800
I almost failed zoology in my undergrad

00:23:58.800 --> 00:24:00.800
I had nothing to do with medicine.

00:24:00.800 --> 00:24:02.800
So the first day I'm asking the Lord, Father

00:24:02.800 --> 00:24:04.800
so what do you want to do today?

00:24:04.800 --> 00:24:06.800
And the first thing

00:24:06.800 --> 00:24:08.800
he says is

00:24:08.800 --> 00:24:10.800
I want you to pray for her

00:24:10.800 --> 00:24:12.800
swallowing and this is day two.

00:24:13.500 --> 00:24:15.500
I want you to pray that she begins to swallow

00:24:15.500 --> 00:24:17.500
and I want you to pray that her left arm

00:24:17.500 --> 00:24:19.500
that is immobile because of the stroke

00:24:19.500 --> 00:24:21.500
starts moving. And so

00:24:21.500 --> 00:24:23.500
I go tell my brother-in-law who's a doctor

00:24:23.500 --> 00:24:25.500
that this is what God is saying

00:24:25.500 --> 00:24:27.500
so you're willing to pray this

00:24:27.500 --> 00:24:29.500
and he says, yep, let's do that.

00:24:29.500 --> 00:24:31.500
So he and I begin to pray this.

00:24:31.500 --> 00:24:33.500
That evening

00:24:33.500 --> 00:24:35.500
they do a swallow test on her.

00:24:35.500 --> 00:24:37.500
So in the morning she can't swallow, she's being fed through tubes.

00:24:37.500 --> 00:24:39.500
Because if she swallows water

00:24:39.500 --> 00:24:41.500
or swallows anything that's solid

00:24:42.200 --> 00:24:44.200
it goes down the wrong gullet and then you'll have to aspirate her

00:24:44.200 --> 00:24:46.200
because it goes into the lungs.

00:24:46.200 --> 00:24:48.200
And so this is what we pray. In the evening the doctors come to do a swallow test.

00:24:48.200 --> 00:24:50.200
And they test it.

00:24:50.200 --> 00:24:52.200
And her swallowing begins to come back.

00:24:52.200 --> 00:24:54.200
And her left arm

00:24:54.200 --> 00:24:56.200
I've got pictures, eh?

00:24:56.200 --> 00:24:58.200
Because I would take video shots of this.

00:24:58.200 --> 00:25:00.200
Her left arm begins to move.

00:25:00.200 --> 00:25:02.200
This is just seven days old.

00:25:02.200 --> 00:25:04.200
I go to the window

00:25:04.200 --> 00:25:06.200
because I didn't want anyone to see me cry.

00:25:06.200 --> 00:25:08.200
I'm thinking to myself

00:25:08.200 --> 00:25:10.200
how do you do this? How do you say something in the morning?

00:25:10.900 --> 00:25:12.900
How do you just do this?

00:25:12.900 --> 00:25:14.900
How?

00:25:14.900 --> 00:25:16.900
Understanding their weeping. I remember texting a few people saying

00:25:16.900 --> 00:25:18.900
I must have started swallowing.

00:25:18.900 --> 00:25:20.900
The next day I thought okay so now we

00:25:20.900 --> 00:25:22.900
perhaps have to deal with

00:25:22.900 --> 00:25:24.900
bladder movement and bowel movement.

00:25:24.900 --> 00:25:26.900
Instead I'm asking God and God is saying

00:25:26.900 --> 00:25:28.900
just pray, this is day three

00:25:28.900 --> 00:25:30.900
just pray for core strengthening.

00:25:30.900 --> 00:25:32.900
I don't even know what core strengthening.

00:25:32.900 --> 00:25:34.900
I didn't know I had a core.

00:25:34.900 --> 00:25:39.900
So I begin to pray for core strengthening.

00:25:40.600 --> 00:25:42.600
And I didn't realize that

00:25:42.600 --> 00:25:44.600
when one suffers a stroke and has

00:25:44.600 --> 00:25:46.600
the left side not working well

00:25:46.600 --> 00:25:48.600
that even getting out of a chair is difficult.

00:25:48.600 --> 00:25:50.600
You sit on the chair, it's impossible to get up.

00:25:50.600 --> 00:25:52.600
The next day the physio comes

00:25:52.600 --> 00:25:54.600
and they have her get out of the chair

00:25:54.600 --> 00:25:56.600
and she's using her arms and pulling herself up.

00:25:56.600 --> 00:25:58.600
What do I know about this?

00:25:58.600 --> 00:26:00.600
The fourth day was

00:26:00.600 --> 00:26:02.600
pray for the bowel and the bladder movement

00:26:02.600 --> 00:26:04.600
to now become natural.

00:26:04.600 --> 00:26:06.600
And that is when we started. It took two days

00:26:06.600 --> 00:26:08.600
but the catheter got removed.

00:26:09.300 --> 00:26:11.300
We started going to the washroom on our own.

00:26:11.300 --> 00:26:13.300
Why am I getting so personal about this story?

00:26:13.300 --> 00:26:15.300
Because this is how we know these things work

00:26:15.300 --> 00:26:17.300
even though it's counterintuitive.

00:26:17.300 --> 00:26:19.300
The fifth day was

00:26:19.300 --> 00:26:21.300
can the palsy that had affected her left side

00:26:21.300 --> 00:26:23.300
and the face was drooping

00:26:23.300 --> 00:26:25.300
begin to disappear?

00:26:25.300 --> 00:26:27.300
And it began to disappear.

00:26:27.300 --> 00:26:29.300
The problem now is her tongue muscles

00:26:29.300 --> 00:26:31.300
have almost lost muscle memory

00:26:31.300 --> 00:26:35.300
and she's not able to still

00:26:35.300 --> 00:26:37.300
use her tongue the way she wants to.

00:26:38.000 --> 00:26:40.000
And so I left on the sixth day

00:26:40.000 --> 00:26:42.000
and every day I asked the Lord, Father what do you want to do today?

00:26:42.000 --> 00:26:44.000
This is how rest works.

00:26:44.000 --> 00:26:46.000
You only do what you're asked to.

00:26:46.000 --> 00:26:48.000
You don't go with expert opinion.

00:26:48.000 --> 00:26:50.000
Expert opinion comes in second.

00:26:50.000 --> 00:26:52.000
It's not that you don't care for it

00:26:52.000 --> 00:26:54.000
but it comes in second.

00:26:54.000 --> 00:26:56.000
First is the one who created all things

00:26:56.000 --> 00:26:58.000
and has all power.

00:27:00.000 --> 00:27:02.000
The core strength thing

00:27:02.000 --> 00:27:04.000
she had a stroke.

00:27:04.000 --> 00:27:06.000
The blood clot disappeared.

00:27:06.700 --> 00:27:08.700
I'm not kidding you.

00:27:08.700 --> 00:27:10.700
These are not suppositions of a pastor who's imagining.

00:27:12.700 --> 00:27:14.700
Because my brother-in-law is a doc

00:27:14.700 --> 00:27:16.700
he showed me the things that needed to be seen.

00:27:16.700 --> 00:27:18.700
The clot disappeared so that was taken care of.

00:27:18.700 --> 00:27:20.700
Then she starts getting up, walking with help

00:27:20.700 --> 00:27:22.700
and the physio says she's walking on her own strength

00:27:22.700 --> 00:27:24.700
but they needed two people beside them.

00:27:24.700 --> 00:27:26.700
By the fourth day she's holding the table

00:27:26.700 --> 00:27:28.700
and walking around the table.

00:27:28.700 --> 00:27:30.700
By the fifth day she doesn't need the table

00:27:30.700 --> 00:27:32.700
and she wants to walk towards the gate of her house.

00:27:32.700 --> 00:27:34.700
The sixth day she got discharged

00:27:35.400 --> 00:27:37.400
from the hospital.

00:27:37.400 --> 00:27:39.400
The sixth day she was home.

00:27:39.400 --> 00:27:41.400
This has nothing to do with you and I.

00:27:41.400 --> 00:27:43.400
This is God at work.

00:27:43.400 --> 00:27:45.400
None of us.

00:27:45.400 --> 00:27:47.400
I definitely can't claim anything.

00:27:47.400 --> 00:27:49.400
It was not my faith, it was nothing.

00:27:49.400 --> 00:27:51.400
It was just a simple prayer based on what he said.

00:27:51.400 --> 00:27:53.400
It wasn't even faith guys.

00:27:53.400 --> 00:27:55.400
There was no exertion of faith.

00:27:55.400 --> 00:27:57.400
It was let us pray this because

00:27:57.400 --> 00:27:59.400
this is what he's saying.

00:27:59.400 --> 00:28:01.400
I wish I could say it was great faith.

00:28:01.400 --> 00:28:03.400
It wasn't.

00:28:04.100 --> 00:28:06.100
And so we'd establish a baseline every day

00:28:06.100 --> 00:28:08.100
and say now let's move on.

00:28:08.100 --> 00:28:10.100
So what's her present situation?

00:28:10.100 --> 00:28:12.100
Over the last two days my brother in-law told me

00:28:12.100 --> 00:28:14.100
that she's getting a little lazy

00:28:14.100 --> 00:28:16.100
and she's not working as hard.

00:28:16.100 --> 00:28:18.100
But praise God my sister landed there today

00:28:18.100 --> 00:28:20.100
and she is a drill sergeant.

00:28:20.100 --> 00:28:22.100
Things will be back on track.

00:28:22.100 --> 00:28:24.100
It's not because of her involvement

00:28:24.100 --> 00:28:26.100
or my involvement but at the end of the day

00:28:26.100 --> 00:28:28.100
may the grace of God carry her

00:28:28.100 --> 00:28:30.100
as many days that she needs to be carried.

00:28:30.100 --> 00:28:32.100
And it is

00:28:32.800 --> 00:28:34.800
I think one of the most important things that you can take from this story

00:28:34.800 --> 00:28:36.800
is the first question.

00:28:36.800 --> 00:28:38.800
Father,

00:28:38.800 --> 00:28:40.800
how do you want me to approach this

00:28:40.800 --> 00:28:42.800
so that I can walk with you rightly?

00:28:42.800 --> 00:28:44.800
That is the best part of this story.

00:28:50.800 --> 00:28:52.800
That is the best part of the story

00:28:52.800 --> 00:28:54.800
because you want to walk with him rightly.

00:28:54.800 --> 00:28:56.800
The rest will take care of it.

00:28:56.800 --> 00:28:58.800
And you can only ask that question

00:28:58.800 --> 00:29:00.800
if you actually believe he's a good father.

00:29:02.800 --> 00:29:04.800
Pardon?

00:29:04.800 --> 00:29:06.800
He's still good.

00:29:06.800 --> 00:29:08.800
That's a crazy thing.

00:29:08.800 --> 00:29:10.800
His goodness doesn't change because of me.

00:29:10.800 --> 00:29:12.800
Because he's a good father

00:29:12.800 --> 00:29:14.800
I can now begin to have an interaction with a good father.

00:29:14.800 --> 00:29:16.800
But if I don't interact with a good father

00:29:16.800 --> 00:29:18.800
a good father doesn't become bad.

00:29:18.800 --> 00:29:20.800
He still is good.

00:29:20.800 --> 00:29:22.800
We all as kids realize that.

00:29:22.800 --> 00:29:24.800
Some days our parents were really good.

00:29:24.800 --> 00:29:26.800
Other days they were really sucky.

00:29:26.800 --> 00:29:28.800
But

00:29:28.800 --> 00:29:30.800
that was your perception of him.

00:29:31.500 --> 00:29:33.500
That was your perception.

00:29:33.500 --> 00:29:35.500
They were still good.

00:29:41.500 --> 00:29:43.500
Rest is the antidote guys.

00:29:43.500 --> 00:29:45.500
Nothing like rest to reverse a situation.

00:29:45.500 --> 00:29:47.500
Nothing like rest to reverse a situation.

00:29:47.500 --> 00:29:49.500
And when you're scared

00:29:49.500 --> 00:29:51.500
when you don't do anything

00:29:51.500 --> 00:29:53.500
and when you're scared

00:29:53.500 --> 00:29:55.500
God will send help your way to encourage your heart

00:29:55.500 --> 00:29:57.500
saying hey you're on the right track.

00:29:57.500 --> 00:29:59.500
Gideon was scared.

00:30:00.200 --> 00:30:02.200
He asked to go into rest.

00:30:02.200 --> 00:30:04.200
And his rest was worse than ours.

00:30:04.200 --> 00:30:06.200
He's got 30,000 people and God says whittle it down to 300.

00:30:06.200 --> 00:30:08.200
Now he's got 300 people.

00:30:08.200 --> 00:30:10.200
And he's supposed to go out with them.

00:30:10.200 --> 00:30:12.200
He was scared.

00:30:12.200 --> 00:30:14.200
What did God do?

00:30:14.200 --> 00:30:16.200
Send him down near the enemy's camp and he hears people whispering saying

00:30:16.200 --> 00:30:18.200
you know we're really scared of these Israelites

00:30:18.200 --> 00:30:20.200
because they're going to come and they're going to treat us like bread.

00:30:20.200 --> 00:30:22.200
They're going to eat us up.

00:30:22.200 --> 00:30:24.200
He gets so thrilled with it that he comes back and says

00:30:24.200 --> 00:30:26.200
we'll go with 300.

00:30:26.200 --> 00:30:28.200
Practice rest and God will encourage you

00:30:28.900 --> 00:30:30.900
when your heart is afraid.

00:30:34.900 --> 00:30:36.900
It's a very cool way to live.

00:30:36.900 --> 00:30:38.900
Why? Because God shows up like crazy.

00:30:41.900 --> 00:30:43.900
In everything, hey?

00:30:43.900 --> 00:30:45.900
Please don't think this is to do with finances or healing.

00:30:45.900 --> 00:30:47.900
It's a way of life.

00:30:47.900 --> 00:30:49.900
That's why we have this thing called Sabbath.

00:30:49.900 --> 00:30:51.900
To seize from exertion.

00:30:51.900 --> 00:30:53.900
To desist from exertion.

00:30:55.900 --> 00:30:57.900
And what's a Sabbath like today?

00:30:58.600 --> 00:31:00.600
27.

00:31:00.600 --> 00:31:02.600
24-7.

00:31:08.600 --> 00:31:10.600
It says thereafter

00:31:10.600 --> 00:31:12.600
that David

00:31:12.600 --> 00:31:14.600
let's look at 1 Chronicles 12-8.

00:31:14.600 --> 00:31:16.600
1 Chronicles 12-8.

00:31:16.600 --> 00:31:18.600
It says some Gadites

00:31:18.600 --> 00:31:20.600
defected to David at his stronghold in the wilderness.

00:31:22.600 --> 00:31:24.600
They were brave warriors ready for battle

00:31:24.600 --> 00:31:26.600
able to handle shield and spear.

00:31:27.300 --> 00:31:29.300
Their faces were the face of lions

00:31:29.300 --> 00:31:31.300
and they were swift as gazelles in the mountain.

00:31:33.300 --> 00:31:35.300
So, one, they defected to David.

00:31:41.300 --> 00:31:43.300
Just so you remember, don't forget this part.

00:31:46.300 --> 00:31:48.300
We can only seize from exertion

00:31:48.300 --> 00:31:50.300
warring thoughts or desist from

00:31:50.300 --> 00:31:52.300
striving if we are in a place

00:31:52.300 --> 00:31:54.300
where we do exactly

00:31:54.300 --> 00:31:56.300
what we are directed by God.

00:31:57.000 --> 00:31:59.000
But to do what we are directed by God

00:31:59.000 --> 00:32:01.000
we can't go there unless

00:32:01.000 --> 00:32:03.000
we

00:32:03.000 --> 00:32:05.000
learn how to hear

00:32:05.000 --> 00:32:07.000
and it's a continuous process

00:32:07.000 --> 00:32:09.000
and we learn how to obey the word

00:32:09.000 --> 00:32:11.000
and actually believe it.

00:32:11.000 --> 00:32:15.000
Faith in what is written.

00:32:17.000 --> 00:32:19.000
This is why we must continue

00:32:19.000 --> 00:32:21.000
to press into

00:32:21.000 --> 00:32:23.000
hearing both the written word

00:32:23.000 --> 00:32:25.000
and hearing the Father in conversation.

00:32:25.700 --> 00:32:27.700
Both.

00:32:27.700 --> 00:32:29.700
It's an essential.

00:32:29.700 --> 00:32:31.700
You cannot do Christian life without this.

00:32:31.700 --> 00:32:33.700
You cannot do Christian life without this.

00:32:33.700 --> 00:32:35.700
And don't go into that funk

00:32:35.700 --> 00:32:37.700
where you say, but I tried and I don't hear God.

00:32:37.700 --> 00:32:39.700
That's exactly how you started learning languages.

00:32:39.700 --> 00:32:41.700
You didn't quit.

00:32:44.700 --> 00:32:46.700
So don't go into that funk.

00:32:46.700 --> 00:32:48.700
It's a continuous process.

00:32:48.700 --> 00:32:50.700
Ten years from now you'll be so much better

00:32:50.700 --> 00:32:52.700
than you are today.

00:32:52.700 --> 00:32:54.700
One year from now you'll be so much better than you are today.

00:32:55.400 --> 00:32:57.400
So we continually hear and believe.

00:32:57.400 --> 00:32:59.400
Hear and believe.

00:32:59.400 --> 00:33:01.400
In fact in Hebrews chapter 4 it says,

00:33:01.400 --> 00:33:03.400
they did not enter into my rest because they heard

00:33:03.400 --> 00:33:05.400
but they did not believe.

00:33:07.400 --> 00:33:09.400
So hearing the voice of the Father

00:33:09.400 --> 00:33:11.400
and hearing the word of God

00:33:11.400 --> 00:33:13.400
and believing it is the way into rest

00:33:13.400 --> 00:33:15.400
and it's impossible to enter into rest without these two things.

00:33:15.400 --> 00:33:17.400
So what choice do we have?

00:33:17.400 --> 00:33:19.400
These are the essentials of Christianity.

00:33:22.400 --> 00:33:24.400
And that's how we became believers.

00:33:25.100 --> 00:33:27.100
How does one become a believer?

00:33:27.100 --> 00:33:29.100
By hearing that Jesus Christ

00:33:29.100 --> 00:33:31.100
came down to the earth

00:33:33.100 --> 00:33:35.100
so that he could remove the hostility

00:33:35.100 --> 00:33:37.100
between God and man

00:33:37.100 --> 00:33:39.100
by taking upon him

00:33:39.100 --> 00:33:41.100
every wrong thing that you and I

00:33:41.100 --> 00:33:43.100
have done will do.

00:33:43.100 --> 00:33:45.100
So that you don't have to pay

00:33:45.100 --> 00:33:47.100
the penalty for it.

00:33:47.100 --> 00:33:49.100
He takes it upon himself and he says

00:33:49.100 --> 00:33:51.100
now that I have paid the price

00:33:51.100 --> 00:33:53.100
if you choose to

00:33:53.100 --> 00:33:55.100
you can be mine.

00:33:55.100 --> 00:33:57.100
And what is required for that?

00:33:57.100 --> 00:33:59.100
First an acknowledgement that I have wronged

00:33:59.100 --> 00:34:01.100
God and man.

00:34:01.100 --> 00:34:03.100
Or I have wronged God

00:34:03.100 --> 00:34:05.100
because God is perfect.

00:34:05.100 --> 00:34:07.100
That I am not

00:34:07.100 --> 00:34:09.100
and I have wronged God.

00:34:09.100 --> 00:34:11.100
That's step one.

00:34:11.100 --> 00:34:13.100
Because if you don't acknowledge sin

00:34:13.100 --> 00:34:15.100
you don't need a savior.

00:34:15.100 --> 00:34:17.100
One of the hardest things for humans to do

00:34:17.100 --> 00:34:19.100
is to acknowledge that we

00:34:19.100 --> 00:34:21.100
have sinned.

00:34:21.100 --> 00:34:23.100
That's the hardest thing to do, eh?

00:34:23.100 --> 00:34:25.100
Because to say that

00:34:25.100 --> 00:34:27.100
is to really come to a place

00:34:27.100 --> 00:34:29.100
where you admit your bankruptcy.

00:34:31.100 --> 00:34:33.100
Admitting bankruptcy

00:34:33.100 --> 00:34:35.100
is one of the hardest things for humans to do.

00:34:37.100 --> 00:34:39.100
Because we can't admit

00:34:39.100 --> 00:34:41.100
our bankruptcy that we

00:34:41.100 --> 00:34:43.100
are not good people as the world

00:34:43.100 --> 00:34:45.100
says. We have thoughts

00:34:45.100 --> 00:34:47.100
ways and actions that are continuously

00:34:47.100 --> 00:34:49.100
against a holy God.

00:34:51.100 --> 00:34:53.100
Once I admit my bankruptcy

00:34:53.100 --> 00:34:55.100
I need a savior.

00:34:55.100 --> 00:34:57.100
Once I need a savior

00:34:57.100 --> 00:34:59.100
he comes into my life.

00:34:59.100 --> 00:35:01.100
Once he comes into my life

00:35:01.100 --> 00:35:03.100
I get saved. Once I get saved

00:35:03.100 --> 00:35:05.100
I re-enter the relationship

00:35:05.100 --> 00:35:07.100
that one should have with God

00:35:07.100 --> 00:35:09.100
which is that of a father and a son

00:35:09.100 --> 00:35:11.100
and a father and a daughter. Who makes it possible?

00:35:11.100 --> 00:35:13.100
Christ. By doing what?

00:35:13.100 --> 00:35:15.100
By removing the hostility and the sin

00:35:15.100 --> 00:35:17.100
that we have to pay a price for.

00:35:17.100 --> 00:35:19.100
Crazy.

00:35:21.100 --> 00:35:23.100
So

00:35:23.100 --> 00:35:25.100
they defected to David.

00:35:25.100 --> 00:35:27.100
One of the things

00:35:27.100 --> 00:35:29.100
if you want to run with horses

00:35:31.100 --> 00:35:33.100
run with horses

00:35:33.100 --> 00:35:35.100
one of the things required

00:35:35.100 --> 00:35:37.100
is to

00:35:37.100 --> 00:35:39.100
shed

00:35:39.100 --> 00:35:41.100
misplaced loyalties

00:35:45.100 --> 00:35:47.100
allegiances

00:35:47.100 --> 00:35:49.100
to

00:35:49.100 --> 00:35:51.100
to

00:35:51.100 --> 00:35:53.100
to clan

00:35:53.100 --> 00:35:55.100
culture

00:35:55.100 --> 00:35:57.100
laban

00:35:57.100 --> 00:35:59.100
remember the

00:35:59.100 --> 00:36:01.100
Abraham story, Jacob story

00:36:01.100 --> 00:36:03.100
to

00:36:03.100 --> 00:36:05.100
marry

00:36:05.100 --> 00:36:07.100
as Jesus did when he said who is my mother

00:36:07.100 --> 00:36:09.100
who is my brother. To Saul

00:36:09.100 --> 00:36:11.100
Jonathan and Michael couldn't

00:36:11.100 --> 00:36:13.100
but sometimes we get stuck.

00:36:13.100 --> 00:36:15.100
So to shed

00:36:15.100 --> 00:36:17.100
misplaced loyalties and allegiances

00:36:17.100 --> 00:36:19.100
that's the first step to running with horses

00:36:19.100 --> 00:36:21.100
because it will require

00:36:21.100 --> 00:36:23.100
that we break free

00:36:23.100 --> 00:36:25.100
from

00:36:27.100 --> 00:36:29.100
loyalties

00:36:29.100 --> 00:36:31.100
that

00:36:33.100 --> 00:36:35.100
are old

00:36:35.100 --> 00:36:37.100
stale

00:36:37.100 --> 00:36:39.100
or affect

00:36:41.100 --> 00:36:43.100
progress.

00:36:45.100 --> 00:36:47.100
People do this

00:36:47.100 --> 00:36:49.100
every day in the world.

00:36:49.100 --> 00:36:51.100
You start

00:36:51.100 --> 00:36:53.100
learning piano from me

00:36:53.100 --> 00:36:55.100
and then you realize that he doesn't know much piano

00:36:55.100 --> 00:36:57.100
so you move on to Sheldon.

00:36:57.100 --> 00:36:59.100
You don't say

00:36:59.100 --> 00:37:01.100
ah but Jacob's such a sweet guy

00:37:01.100 --> 00:37:03.100
he gives me coffee every time I come

00:37:03.100 --> 00:37:05.100
and play piano. I won't help you

00:37:05.100 --> 00:37:07.100
with piano playing. It will just get you hyper.

00:37:07.100 --> 00:37:09.100
So you move on to Sheldon.

00:37:09.100 --> 00:37:11.100
We've got no problems

00:37:11.100 --> 00:37:13.100
doing that. But when it comes to

00:37:13.100 --> 00:37:15.100
moving with God we have misplaced loyalties

00:37:15.100 --> 00:37:17.100
and allegiances. So they defected to David.

00:37:17.100 --> 00:37:19.100
Where did they defect to?

00:37:19.100 --> 00:37:21.100
They defected into the stronghold

00:37:21.100 --> 00:37:23.100
in the wilderness.

00:37:23.100 --> 00:37:25.100
Stronghold in the wilderness.

00:37:29.100 --> 00:37:31.100
David had this ability

00:37:31.100 --> 00:37:33.100
to find places in the wilderness

00:37:33.100 --> 00:37:35.100
and he did this for years together

00:37:35.100 --> 00:37:37.100
when Saul was after him.

00:37:37.100 --> 00:37:39.100
Where he'd find this formation of caves

00:37:39.100 --> 00:37:41.100
and he'd go in there and it would almost be like a fortress

00:37:41.100 --> 00:37:43.100
that would be hard to access

00:37:43.100 --> 00:37:45.100
but he'd always find

00:37:45.100 --> 00:37:47.100
in that formation

00:37:47.100 --> 00:37:49.100
a spring that brought in living water

00:37:49.100 --> 00:37:51.100
or water that would give life.

00:37:51.100 --> 00:37:53.100
He'd get into these strongholds

00:37:53.100 --> 00:37:55.100
and he'd begin to operate from there.

00:37:55.100 --> 00:37:57.100
That's where he goes eh?

00:37:57.100 --> 00:37:59.100
And that's why Saul

00:37:59.100 --> 00:38:01.100
found it so difficult to follow him

00:38:01.100 --> 00:38:03.100
and ends up in one of those caves

00:38:03.100 --> 00:38:05.100
where David could almost have had him.

00:38:05.100 --> 00:38:07.100
And David spares his life.

00:38:07.100 --> 00:38:09.100
So he would find these

00:38:09.100 --> 00:38:11.100
rock fortresses

00:38:11.100 --> 00:38:13.100
that were supplied by a spring.

00:38:13.100 --> 00:38:15.100
Water was plenty.

00:38:17.100 --> 00:38:19.100
I do that every time you find yourself

00:38:19.100 --> 00:38:21.100
in a wilderness eh?

00:38:21.100 --> 00:38:23.100
Every time you find yourself in a dry place

00:38:23.100 --> 00:38:25.100
find your spot

00:38:25.100 --> 00:38:27.100
find your spot with God

00:38:27.100 --> 00:38:29.100
where in the midst of everything

00:38:29.100 --> 00:38:31.100
that's turning upside down

00:38:31.100 --> 00:38:33.100
you have this safe place where

00:38:33.100 --> 00:38:35.100
there's a continuous source

00:38:35.100 --> 00:38:37.100
of living water.

00:38:37.100 --> 00:38:39.100
Practice it, create it

00:38:39.100 --> 00:38:41.100
form it, it'll keep you safe.

00:38:49.100 --> 00:38:51.100
Guys, always learn to nip things in the bud.

00:38:51.100 --> 00:38:53.100
Whenever you see trouble beginning to brew

00:38:53.100 --> 00:38:55.100
don't wait for it to get bigger.

00:38:55.100 --> 00:38:57.100
As soon as it begins to brew

00:38:57.100 --> 00:38:59.100
find your spot.

00:38:59.100 --> 00:39:01.100
Don't let it grow bigger

00:39:01.100 --> 00:39:03.100
because then it gets out of hand.

00:39:03.100 --> 00:39:05.100
Find it early.

00:39:05.100 --> 00:39:07.100
Find it early.

00:39:07.100 --> 00:39:09.100
You see trouble coming?

00:39:09.100 --> 00:39:11.100
They don't wait for the cyclone to hit

00:39:11.100 --> 00:39:13.100
before they nail boards

00:39:13.100 --> 00:39:15.100
to their windows, man.

00:39:15.100 --> 00:39:17.100
The warning comes in early.

00:39:27.100 --> 00:39:29.100
They were brave warriors.

00:39:29.100 --> 00:39:31.100
They defected to David's

00:39:31.100 --> 00:39:33.100
in his stronghold in the wilderness.

00:39:33.100 --> 00:39:35.100
And they were brave warriors.

00:39:35.100 --> 00:39:37.100
How did they get to be brave warriors?

00:39:37.100 --> 00:39:39.100
This is so cool.

00:39:39.100 --> 00:39:41.100
Who are they? They're the Gadites.

00:39:41.100 --> 00:39:43.100
Where did the Gadites get land

00:39:43.100 --> 00:39:45.100
on the eastern end

00:39:45.100 --> 00:39:47.100
of the Jordan?

00:39:47.100 --> 00:39:49.100
Why?

00:39:49.100 --> 00:39:51.100
Because they said, can we have this land

00:39:51.100 --> 00:39:53.100
because we have a lot of cattle.

00:39:53.100 --> 00:39:55.100
Can we settle here?

00:39:55.100 --> 00:39:57.100
So they get land on the eastern side of the Jordan.

00:39:57.100 --> 00:39:59.100
They were a frontier town.

00:39:59.100 --> 00:40:01.100
Who were their neighbors?

00:40:01.100 --> 00:40:03.100
The brutal Ammonites.

00:40:03.100 --> 00:40:05.100
Amorites.

00:40:05.100 --> 00:40:07.100
Sorry, Ammonites.

00:40:07.100 --> 00:40:09.100
So what did they have to do?

00:40:09.100 --> 00:40:11.100
They had to learn

00:40:11.100 --> 00:40:13.100
to fight.

00:40:13.100 --> 00:40:15.100
So much so

00:40:15.100 --> 00:40:17.100
that in Genesis 49

00:40:17.100 --> 00:40:19.100
verse 19

00:40:19.100 --> 00:40:21.100
Jacob prophesies on them

00:40:21.100 --> 00:40:23.100
and says,

00:40:23.100 --> 00:40:25.100
God will be

00:40:25.100 --> 00:40:27.100
the great warrior

00:40:27.100 --> 00:40:29.100
and the great warrior.

00:40:29.100 --> 00:40:31.100
And they say,

00:40:31.100 --> 00:40:33.100
God will be

00:40:33.100 --> 00:40:35.100
raided

00:40:35.100 --> 00:40:37.100
but they

00:40:37.100 --> 00:40:39.100
will

00:40:39.100 --> 00:40:41.100
raid

00:40:41.100 --> 00:40:43.100
their raider's

00:40:43.100 --> 00:40:45.100
heels.

00:40:45.100 --> 00:40:47.100
As in, they'll attack them

00:40:47.100 --> 00:40:49.100
even as the enemy is retreating.

00:40:49.100 --> 00:40:51.100
They learned how to fight

00:40:51.100 --> 00:40:53.100
because of where they lived.

00:40:53.100 --> 00:40:55.100
And Jacob prophesies that.

00:40:55.100 --> 00:40:57.100
It's almost 400 years before it happens.

00:40:57.100 --> 00:40:59.100
That God

00:40:59.100 --> 00:41:01.100
will be attacked, will be raided,

00:41:01.100 --> 00:41:03.100
but they in turn will raid

00:41:03.100 --> 00:41:05.100
their raider's heels. As in, they'll

00:41:05.100 --> 00:41:07.100
destroy them on their retreat.

00:41:11.100 --> 00:41:13.100
The only time we learn to fight is

00:41:13.100 --> 00:41:15.100
when we have circumstances that are negative.

00:41:15.100 --> 00:41:17.100
Otherwise, we don't need to fight.

00:41:17.100 --> 00:41:19.100
Go to Judges chapter 3, verse 1-5,

00:41:19.100 --> 00:41:21.100
you see it there. Judges chapter 3.

00:41:21.100 --> 00:41:23.100
I know you've read this before,

00:41:23.100 --> 00:41:25.100
look how brilliant it is. Judges chapter 3,

00:41:25.100 --> 00:41:27.100
verse 1-5.

00:41:31.100 --> 00:41:33.100
Judges 3.

00:41:37.100 --> 00:41:39.100
Let me read an IV

00:41:39.100 --> 00:41:41.100
and then I'll see if the message says anything different.

00:41:41.100 --> 00:41:43.100
These are the nations the Lord left

00:41:43.100 --> 00:41:45.100
to do what? To test all those

00:41:45.100 --> 00:41:47.100
Israelites. What kind of Israelites?

00:41:47.100 --> 00:41:49.100
Who had not experienced

00:41:49.100 --> 00:41:51.100
any of the wars in Canaan.

00:41:51.100 --> 00:41:53.100
Why did he do this?

00:41:53.100 --> 00:41:55.100
Verse 2. He did this only

00:41:55.100 --> 00:41:57.100
to teach warfare to the descendants

00:41:57.100 --> 00:41:59.100
of the Israelites who had no

00:41:59.100 --> 00:42:01.100
previous battle experience. How

00:42:01.100 --> 00:42:03.100
nuts is that?

00:42:03.100 --> 00:42:05.100
What kind of God is this?

00:42:05.100 --> 00:42:07.100
Who wants you

00:42:07.100 --> 00:42:09.100
to be able to war.

00:42:09.100 --> 00:42:11.100
Why? Because in his nature, he is

00:42:11.100 --> 00:42:13.100
a divine warrior too.

00:42:17.100 --> 00:42:19.100
The only opportunity we have

00:42:19.100 --> 00:42:21.100
to learn these skills

00:42:21.100 --> 00:42:23.100
is when things are not

00:42:23.100 --> 00:42:25.100
going well.

00:42:25.100 --> 00:42:27.100
Am I asking you to invite

00:42:27.100 --> 00:42:29.100
bad things into your life? No. But am I asking

00:42:29.100 --> 00:42:31.100
you to look at every negative situation

00:42:31.100 --> 00:42:33.100
in your life as an opportunity

00:42:33.100 --> 00:42:35.100
for God to show muscle? Yes.

00:42:35.100 --> 00:42:37.100
It's the only

00:42:37.100 --> 00:42:39.100
way we learn how

00:42:39.100 --> 00:42:41.100
to respond like him

00:42:41.100 --> 00:42:43.100
and war like him. It's odd.

00:42:43.100 --> 00:42:45.100
Our battle is not against flesh

00:42:45.100 --> 00:42:47.100
and blood.

00:42:47.100 --> 00:42:49.100
That's a part of the war.

00:42:49.100 --> 00:42:51.100
How do we respond like him?

00:42:51.100 --> 00:42:53.100
By showing kindness, by being

00:42:53.100 --> 00:42:55.100
compassionate.

00:42:55.100 --> 00:42:57.100
These are the only opportunities

00:42:57.100 --> 00:42:59.100
we have. We will not get these opportunities in

00:42:59.100 --> 00:43:01.100
heaven. It's

00:43:01.100 --> 00:43:03.100
only here on earth that you get to become like Christ.

00:43:03.100 --> 00:43:05.100
There you instantly become like him.

00:43:09.100 --> 00:43:11.100
And he sometimes

00:43:11.100 --> 00:43:13.100
does not

00:43:13.100 --> 00:43:15.100
create situations for you where you

00:43:15.100 --> 00:43:17.100
are not going to be able to do this.

00:43:17.100 --> 00:43:19.100
But he looks at every situation that's happening

00:43:19.100 --> 00:43:21.100
and says, Jacob,

00:43:21.100 --> 00:43:23.100
how do you want to deal with this?

00:43:23.100 --> 00:43:25.100
Can I come into this

00:43:25.100 --> 00:43:27.100
as comforter? Can I come into this

00:43:27.100 --> 00:43:29.100
as rescuer? Can I come into this

00:43:29.100 --> 00:43:31.100
as fighter?

00:43:31.100 --> 00:43:33.100
He will tell you how he wants to enter

00:43:33.100 --> 00:43:35.100
a situation. And once he does,

00:43:35.100 --> 00:43:37.100
you begin to change into who he is.

00:43:37.100 --> 00:43:39.100
In your present situation,

00:43:39.100 --> 00:43:41.100
whatever it is,

00:43:41.100 --> 00:43:43.100
loneliness,

00:43:43.100 --> 00:43:45.100
ickness,

00:43:45.100 --> 00:43:47.100
videoconcurrencies, sickness,

00:43:47.100 --> 00:43:49.100
confusion. The first question you ask him is,

00:43:49.100 --> 00:43:51.100
Father, how do you want to enter this

00:43:51.100 --> 00:43:53.100
situation? What form are you entering

00:43:53.100 --> 00:43:55.100
the situation as?

00:43:55.100 --> 00:43:57.100
What we always want is please rescue.

00:43:57.100 --> 00:43:59.100
Please provide.

00:43:59.100 --> 00:44:01.100
But why not ask him,

00:44:01.100 --> 00:44:03.100
how do you want to enter this situation?

00:44:03.100 --> 00:44:05.100
What form are you taking?

00:44:07.100 --> 00:44:09.100
It's notgesthasura,

00:44:09.100 --> 00:44:11.100
it's not whatever will be will be.

00:44:11.100 --> 00:44:17.980
I'll get out if I die so I'll die no I'm not being job what I'm saying is oh God

00:44:17.980 --> 00:44:23.900
how do you want to enter this situation it's an active seeking of his nature his

00:44:23.900 --> 00:44:30.900
will his form into that situation so that you can measure up accordingly it

00:44:30.900 --> 00:44:36.340
involves work involves searching the mind of God once you know that you are

00:44:36.340 --> 00:44:40.460
now able to shape yourself and your response based on how he wants to be

00:44:41.020 --> 00:44:47.300
yes it's work but that's how you know the mind of Christ there's no other way to

00:44:47.300 --> 00:44:59.340
know the mind of God and if you're married my god you got such an advantage

00:44:59.340 --> 00:45:03.980
two of you seeking it if you're not married you've got even a bigger

00:45:03.980 --> 00:45:12.140
advantage because you got the rest of us they just have to each other all the

00:45:12.140 --> 00:45:18.300
single people sorry that just came out by mistake we'll forget that we'll just

00:45:18.300 --> 00:45:31.940
go back to see over generations out of necessity got Gad transformed into a

00:45:31.940 --> 00:45:36.420
tribe that was killed in the art of war that was killed in the art of war and

00:45:36.420 --> 00:45:39.540
God will sometimes place you in situations where you're doing everything

00:45:39.540 --> 00:45:42.820
godly and he sends you a situation because he knows that in the future

00:45:42.820 --> 00:45:46.140
you'll have to deal with something that will set a whole lot of people free hear

00:45:46.140 --> 00:45:51.820
me again please this is this is so cool God while you're doing things that you

00:45:51.820 --> 00:45:58.100
he has asked you to do like he says to David hey David can you shepherd your

00:45:58.220 --> 00:46:03.940
father's sheep so David says yep and he takes his sheep out with his guitar and

00:46:03.940 --> 00:46:07.780
he sings and writes songs and takes care of the sheep he's a good shepherd and

00:46:07.780 --> 00:46:15.020
then knowing what awaits David while he's taking care of sheep along comes a

00:46:15.020 --> 00:46:22.540
lion what does David do catches the lion which tries to take a sheep smites it

00:46:22.540 --> 00:46:26.940
pulls the lamb out of the lion's mouth rescues it he does the same thing to the

00:46:26.940 --> 00:46:32.060
bear he knows how to handle lion and bear now that he knows how to handle

00:46:32.060 --> 00:46:40.680
lion and bear along comes Goliath but this is a battle he is ready for he

00:46:40.680 --> 00:46:45.020
doesn't say oh lord have you noticed he never wrote a psalm saying why did thou

00:46:45.020 --> 00:46:54.700
send it me a lion no his psalms say I smote the lion and the bear what can

00:46:54.700 --> 00:47:00.140
this uncircumcised Philistine do to me sometimes the things that God sends our

00:47:00.140 --> 00:47:04.540
ways is not to destroy us but to prepare us to set a whole lot of other people

00:47:04.540 --> 00:47:11.340
who would be destroyed if you were not ready these are opportunities guys it's

00:47:11.340 --> 00:47:15.580
it's like a complete change of perspective a based on the one fact that

00:47:15.580 --> 00:47:23.300
he is good and so he deals with the lion he deals with the bear and now he's able

00:47:23.340 --> 00:47:27.580
to deal with Goliath and because he deals with a group with Goliath an entire

00:47:27.580 --> 00:47:35.420
nation benefits but the boy learned it shepherding God's sheep enjoy this

00:47:35.420 --> 00:47:44.860
process he wants people a metal METTLE caliber but you have to train with the

00:47:44.860 --> 00:47:48.860
lion and the sheep now you can see why a lion and the bear you now you can see

00:47:48.860 --> 00:47:54.260
why he was so skilled with using two things well the rod and the staff the

00:47:54.260 --> 00:48:00.060
rod to beat away predatory animals the staff to keep the sheep safe this is who

00:48:00.060 --> 00:48:05.100
God is the divine warrior on one hand has the ability to provoke hostilities

00:48:05.100 --> 00:48:09.860
against predators and then he has the ability to hook and bring sheep closer

00:48:09.860 --> 00:48:14.560
himself with the staff the rod and the staff everyone here is supposed to be

00:48:14.560 --> 00:48:19.600
like that if you believe in Christ because if we are supposed to be ones

00:48:19.600 --> 00:48:27.000
that take after his image the rod and the stuff it's not one or the other you

00:48:27.000 --> 00:48:30.480
take one or the other you'll have sheep that are pampered that get eaten after

00:48:30.480 --> 00:48:37.840
being pampered or you'll have sheep that are protected they'll die starving

00:48:37.840 --> 00:48:40.760
because you don't feed them

00:48:44.560 --> 00:48:53.520
brave warriors ready for battle a ready for battle and you can't be neutral in

00:48:53.520 --> 00:48:59.680
this you be neutral in this you'll suffocate what will suffocate you

00:48:59.680 --> 00:49:13.800
dullness if you go gung-ho and are an untrained enthusiastic warrior you'll

00:49:13.800 --> 00:49:24.960
get strangled and if you're going it alone you'll get crippled so what's the

00:49:24.960 --> 00:49:34.200
best way learn how to fight with others together so that we learn how to wield

00:49:34.200 --> 00:49:42.200
rod and stuff their faces were like faces of lions they had faces that were

00:49:42.240 --> 00:49:49.080
faces of lions all day that that someone should describe a people can you imagine

00:49:49.080 --> 00:49:53.920
someone coming to this church and saying I came here on Sunday June the 30th and

00:49:53.920 --> 00:49:58.640
I looked around and all of them had faces of lions the only one that I can

00:49:58.640 --> 00:50:08.160
see like that is Jobin like you got a main dawn is trying but it's not getting

00:50:08.200 --> 00:50:15.840
there but but the thing is how does one describe someone like that faces of

00:50:15.840 --> 00:50:21.840
lions but these guys actually looked like that like they had a fierceness

00:50:21.840 --> 00:50:27.680
about them and which brings in this idea that if you want to run with the horses

00:50:27.680 --> 00:50:39.760
you have to learn how to cultivate the Matthew 11 12 kind of violence it's a

00:50:39.760 --> 00:50:49.720
what kind of violence is this initially it's a violence that'll elbow others to

00:50:49.920 --> 00:50:58.480
God you know if you see these documentaries or news reports where

00:50:58.480 --> 00:51:02.880
people have been starving for longer there it's in a war-thorn area and you

00:51:02.880 --> 00:51:06.400
see food coming down through parachutes and stuff like that what happens people

00:51:06.400 --> 00:51:12.160
elbow people out of the way to get to that life-giving food why would someone

00:51:12.160 --> 00:51:19.600
call a whole tribe ones that have a face like a lion it talks about an aggression

00:51:19.600 --> 00:51:24.800
a violence we need this violence at different levels the first level is when

00:51:24.800 --> 00:51:29.740
God is about to distribute something can you have the same violence that will

00:51:29.740 --> 00:51:34.880
cause you to elbow people out of the way because it is something he has for you

00:51:34.880 --> 00:51:39.540
and you want to get to it at that time you don't choose politeness thing you

00:51:40.100 --> 00:51:51.860
first it is yours it is yours for the taking run for it a hungry a hungry

00:51:51.860 --> 00:51:59.300
desire for those things sometimes when you know that an invitation that is

00:51:59.860 --> 00:52:07.420
is is resonating with your spirit then don't stay run

00:52:13.020 --> 00:52:19.820
it only displays your firstbornness they only increases your capacity

00:52:22.900 --> 00:52:27.540
Matthew 11 12 the kingdom of God suffers violence and the violent take it by

00:52:27.540 --> 00:52:47.860
force how else are we supposed to be violent furious love in prayer have you

00:52:47.860 --> 00:52:54.140
seen the movie hacks or ridge that is furious love that is violence that is

00:52:54.140 --> 00:53:00.940
loving furious love that rescues the guy keeps going back he knows his life is

00:53:00.940 --> 00:53:05.940
in jeopardy but he will not quit quit one after the other 25 people 30 people

00:53:05.940 --> 00:53:10.860
35 people the whole place is exploding but he says one more oh god one more oh

00:53:10.860 --> 00:53:17.460
god and he keeps going back he rescues 38 of them what is he he's he he works

00:53:17.460 --> 00:53:23.780
for the medical core what is he in real life he's a pacifist he doesn't believe

00:53:23.780 --> 00:53:30.700
in war but he keeps going back I highly recommend that movie hacks or ridge

00:53:30.700 --> 00:53:35.940
hacks or ridge yeah I hope that's not the only thing you take from this

00:53:35.940 --> 00:53:45.780
teaching but it's a great movie it's furious love there's a there's a it

00:53:45.780 --> 00:53:51.820
refuses to settle down we are talking about a violence that the Spirit of God

00:53:51.860 --> 00:53:57.340
gives you which which makes it impossible for you to stop short you

00:53:57.340 --> 00:54:09.220
would rather die trying than not try it's a violence because of the violence

00:54:09.220 --> 00:54:24.500
because of the adversary you face Satan who is evil who is evil and just great

00:54:24.500 --> 00:54:40.580
evil it's a violence that then keeps you safe from lukewarmness if you don't have

00:54:40.580 --> 00:54:44.900
this kind of aggression that begins to build into your life and it's not the

00:54:44.900 --> 00:54:49.940
aggression that you think of in terms of the world but the another word that God

00:54:49.940 --> 00:54:55.340
uses for it is zeal the zeal that possesses you to begin to do what God

00:54:55.340 --> 00:54:58.860
wants you to do where he cloaks himself he robs himself in zeal the Bible says

00:54:58.860 --> 00:55:04.260
if you don't have that lukewarmness is usually a few days away

00:55:11.100 --> 00:55:19.500
in first Samuel 11 verse 6 talks about that that it talks about how the Spirit

00:55:19.500 --> 00:55:24.300
of God came upon Saul and Saul became angry that's what the words say John

00:55:24.300 --> 00:55:29.060
chapter 2 after Jesus begins to clear the temple it says the zeal of the Lord

00:55:29.060 --> 00:55:35.660
shall accomplish it and the last bit last point I want to make is it says

00:55:35.660 --> 00:55:53.540
the Gadites were swift as gazelles on the mountain in Habakkuk 3 19 it says he

00:55:53.540 --> 00:56:13.180
makes my feet like deer's feet and I tread on the heights in Psalm 18 34 it

00:56:13.180 --> 00:56:32.700
says we were designed like deer to scale high places when the going gets tough

00:56:32.700 --> 00:56:45.780
so what am I supposed to do I need to consider my circumstances and the

00:56:45.780 --> 00:56:50.020
difficult circumstances that I'm undergoing and then discover the

00:56:50.020 --> 00:56:56.660
sure-footedness that I have in the word and in the goodness of the Father so

00:56:56.660 --> 00:57:01.620
that he can help me scale new heights guys I was reading up on like sometimes

00:57:01.620 --> 00:57:06.940
when you drive to Banff you see these mountain goat I mean they got this much

00:57:06.940 --> 00:57:13.620
space to stand on it but they have this amazing ability to use their two toes

00:57:13.620 --> 00:57:20.940
and back they're called dew claws to have all four legs in one spot that's how

00:57:20.940 --> 00:57:25.980
they manage they don't need they don't need space for two legs and two front

00:57:25.980 --> 00:57:29.580
and two back legs they they have the ability to put all four legs in one spot

00:57:29.580 --> 00:57:35.900
and they begin to climb one of the things God gives us especially in

00:57:35.900 --> 00:57:39.980
difficult situations is hey Jacob I know you're in a difficult situation but can

00:57:39.980 --> 00:57:45.380
you get sure-footedness in two things one do you really believe I'm your

00:57:45.380 --> 00:57:51.140
father and I'm good good so we got that sorted out now do you really are you

00:57:51.140 --> 00:57:54.300
really able to believe the promise I'm gonna give you either from the written

00:57:54.300 --> 00:57:59.220
word or from what I say to you or both can you really believe that good

00:57:59.260 --> 00:58:05.980
now you got all four feet on places that no man has any business walking on and

00:58:05.980 --> 00:58:13.820
I'll take you to new heights these are the ones that end up then doing things

00:58:13.820 --> 00:58:23.380
that are supernatural it's not normal not normal I've got a video of a of a

00:58:23.540 --> 00:58:30.820
that's scaling a damn it's a fascinating video you begin to scale vertical cliffs

00:58:30.820 --> 00:58:36.220
unafraid undeterred by seemingly impassable terrain you begin to scale

00:58:36.220 --> 00:58:41.420
vertical cliffs unafraid undeterred by seemingly impassable terrain

00:58:41.420 --> 00:58:46.020
supernatural unto supernatural strength supernatural strength how do you

00:58:46.020 --> 00:58:49.100
cultivate this and after that we can watch the video how do you cultivate

00:58:49.300 --> 00:58:55.300
this three things guys how do you cultivate the ability to be sure-footed

00:58:55.300 --> 00:59:02.660
when the cliff that you are facing is literally vertical how do you cultivate

00:59:02.660 --> 00:59:07.980
the ability to supernaturally scale vertical cliffs unafraid undeterred one

00:59:07.980 --> 00:59:20.940
intense attentiveness in the midst of what you're going through second instant

00:59:20.940 --> 00:59:32.540
commitment to whatever is asked of you by God

00:59:38.060 --> 00:59:44.500
and third an awareness of your impossible circumstances you're not an

00:59:44.500 --> 00:59:48.300
ostrich you're not denying what's happening

00:59:48.300 --> 01:00:14.300
intense attentiveness it's a I think the first step is the most important some of

01:00:14.300 --> 01:00:19.500
you may not have fees to pay for the next course or the next semester or the

01:00:19.500 --> 01:00:24.860
next rent some of you may have struggled with a physical condition some of you

01:00:24.860 --> 01:00:27.820
may have struggled with relationships some of you may have struggled with

01:00:27.820 --> 01:00:33.940
confusion whatever it be the first thing I try and if I'm not able to do it get

01:00:33.940 --> 01:00:39.700
two others that you trust intense attentiveness father before this sours

01:00:39.700 --> 01:00:45.060
or decays more hi if I'm not able we'll get two others who'll help me but I'll

01:00:45.060 --> 01:00:48.540
go into this place called intense attentiveness where my attention is

01:00:48.540 --> 01:00:52.780
drawn not by the things that are swirling around me because I'm drowning

01:00:52.780 --> 01:00:58.540
anyways but I begin to intensely pay attention to you and every time it wavers

01:00:58.540 --> 01:01:02.900
I'll come back to you doesn't matter how many times it'll happen I'll keep coming

01:01:02.900 --> 01:01:08.060
back to you intense attentiveness second now that I'm paying attention Oh God I

01:01:08.540 --> 01:01:12.700
know because you are the father that you say you and because you're good and you

01:01:12.700 --> 01:01:18.260
love me like crazy as much as you love Jesus I know that you will reply when

01:01:18.260 --> 01:01:23.820
you respond I'll instantly commit to whatever you ask I'll instantly commit I

01:01:23.820 --> 01:01:28.500
won't delay I won't try to reason it out I won't try to doubt I'll do nothing of

01:01:28.500 --> 01:01:33.860
that I'll instantly commit meanwhile Oh God I also am aware of my impossible

01:01:34.420 --> 01:01:38.700
circumstances I'm not an ostrich I know this is going on I know that is going

01:01:38.700 --> 01:01:43.620
wrong but I'll keep asking you and every time I fail I get up again and start

01:01:43.620 --> 01:01:50.500
again every time I feel what happens one day Emmanuel comes through that door and

01:01:50.500 --> 01:01:55.060
he walks in like Samson takes the gates on his back and walks away one day

01:01:55.060 --> 01:01:59.940
Rachel comes through that door and she turns things around because she has gone

01:01:59.940 --> 01:02:03.580
through this enough times to know that she can now rescue 20 or 30 other people

01:02:03.580 --> 01:02:07.540
at the end of the day guys every circumstance that you go through is for

01:02:07.540 --> 01:02:12.580
the benefit of someone else one year down the line just remember that every

01:02:12.580 --> 01:02:17.420
circumstance that you go through be it from the devil be through our own

01:02:17.420 --> 01:02:23.340
mistakes be through the nature of the fallen world be through persecution be

01:02:23.340 --> 01:02:28.460
in a trial be the testing I've given you five different scenarios be from the

01:02:28.460 --> 01:02:34.180
devil be from your own failure or mistake or sin be because of a trial

01:02:34.180 --> 01:02:38.380
imposed on you because of someone else's mistake be it's satanic weights and

01:02:38.380 --> 01:02:42.180
adversary attacking you be the fallen nature of the world or be it

01:02:42.180 --> 01:02:48.980
persecution every circumstance is this magnificent opportunity for you to see

01:02:48.980 --> 01:02:55.700
how God enters it and begin to work with him why so that you learn today what can

01:02:55.700 --> 01:03:03.620
help 20 other people tomorrow we are being prepared for others this is the

01:03:03.620 --> 01:03:07.620
only organization in the world that exists for the benefit of others this

01:03:07.620 --> 01:03:16.060
club called Christianity exists for the benefit of others and so when you're

01:03:16.060 --> 01:03:19.460
getting prepared today it is so that tomorrow you can help someone in

01:03:19.460 --> 01:03:32.260
in Abu Dhabi yeah on that note we'll end you want to play the video we started

01:03:32.260 --> 01:03:40.300
with Abu Dhabi and we landed we ended with Abu Dhabi what's this say it's I

01:03:40.300 --> 01:03:49.180
took the sound off but you get the hang of it and then we'll break bread

01:04:19.460 --> 01:04:33.860
love it without these minerals the bones won't grow muscles won't function

01:04:33.860 --> 01:04:38.260
movement and coordination can falter

01:04:50.260 --> 01:04:56.060
that's crazy it's not just the mother that goes up now the kid follows that's

01:04:56.060 --> 01:05:00.660
a training party where we learn from others that have gone this route before

01:05:00.660 --> 01:05:01.660
us

01:05:19.460 --> 01:05:22.500
you

01:05:49.460 --> 01:05:51.540
you

01:06:22.540 --> 01:06:28.540
salt that helps them grow makes their bones strong

01:06:40.540 --> 01:06:50.900
look at that a can we have a few of us do this I want to show you this because we

01:06:50.900 --> 01:06:57.020
were designed for this you were designed for this please believe it

01:06:57.020 --> 01:07:01.140
because this is what he's saying you were designed for this

01:07:03.620 --> 01:07:11.100
people who finally begin to run with horses because they know how to work

01:07:11.300 --> 01:07:22.860
with a God who's supernatural let's break bread that's where we usually live

01:07:24.460 --> 01:07:29.940
we'll get there guys we'll get there

01:07:29.940 --> 01:07:40.860
we break bread because we want to remember Christ's sacrifice for us

01:07:40.860 --> 01:07:49.260
before he went to the cross he sat with his disciples and he said that my body

01:07:49.260 --> 01:07:56.540
is going to be broken as payment for your sins for the sins of the world my

01:07:56.580 --> 01:08:01.900
body is going to be broken as you break this bread remember that my body was

01:08:01.900 --> 01:08:09.180
broken for your forgiveness and then he took the cup and he said I'm gonna

01:08:09.180 --> 01:08:15.540
write a new agreement with you the agreement before was God is holy you are

01:08:15.540 --> 01:08:25.900
not the new agreement is I'm paying for your sins you can come to me I will not

01:08:25.900 --> 01:08:30.100
abandon you I'll introduce you to my father so you can be his son and

01:08:30.100 --> 01:08:35.140
daughter I'll live in you that's a new agreement and he signs that agreement

01:08:35.140 --> 01:08:37.660
with his blood

01:08:49.420 --> 01:08:52.620
everyone got it

01:08:55.900 --> 01:08:58.420
thanks

01:09:09.060 --> 01:09:13.100
so in eating and drinking we are remembering what he did for us say and

01:09:13.100 --> 01:09:19.020
it's not a somber occasion it's actually an occasion where we do smile and talk

01:09:19.020 --> 01:09:24.460
and are happy that he did this for us it's not a funeral because he ain't dead

01:09:24.500 --> 01:09:28.500
yeah so

01:09:40.540 --> 01:09:44.020
once everyone's gotten it

01:09:55.460 --> 01:10:01.500
hey so what are the benefits of his death you occasionally shout it out so

01:10:01.500 --> 01:10:10.300
what are the benefits of his death to you you'll have to shout it out

01:10:10.300 --> 01:10:14.140
righteousness benefit of his death anyone else what are the benefits of

01:10:14.140 --> 01:10:22.740
his death access yeah access to God himself that's just nuts healing

01:10:24.540 --> 01:10:33.820

01:10:33.820 --> 01:10:40.380
presence is restored that which was lost in Eden has now been restored what else

01:10:40.380 --> 01:10:48.700

be delivered from things probably still do from a few more what else

01:11:14.300 --> 01:11:24.060
yeah the end to my sinful self what else there's still tons to go guys peace

01:11:24.060 --> 01:11:34.060
peace that surpasses all understanding more healing fullness joy don't care

01:11:34.060 --> 01:11:37.820
about me repeating it shout these are the benefits of his death we are not

01:11:37.820 --> 01:11:41.580
talking about a dead man we are talking about a man who is alive who is in this

01:11:41.580 --> 01:11:46.300
room who is Christ who is King who is God who is Lord of heaven and earth who

01:11:46.300 --> 01:11:51.180
is present in our lives and in our midst right now are we saying this to him a

01:11:51.180 --> 01:11:56.620
acknowledging the benefits of his death anything else making things new I love

01:11:56.620 --> 01:12:07.420
that receiving the Spirit of God himself sonship rest hope people like Caleb get

01:12:07.740 --> 01:12:19.980
born he was born 20 years ago saved the guy behind you who else anything else

01:12:19.980 --> 01:12:23.940
participation in his life he's given us divine promises so that we may

01:12:23.940 --> 01:12:32.700
participate in his life the word victory in different circumstances climbing up

01:12:32.740 --> 01:12:37.420
Steve walls like this because he makes it possible living with the supernatural

01:12:37.420 --> 01:12:47.020
God beyond natural means sorry go at John John protection pardon the body of

01:12:47.020 --> 01:12:49.540

anymore abundant provision new spirit absolutely strong strong arms of God

01:13:36.260 --> 01:13:49.020
victory what rest sorry stories yeah written by God this is nuts we could go

01:13:49.020 --> 01:13:55.820
on and on it's still not exhausted crazy a this is the God we serve this is the

01:13:55.820 --> 01:14:00.980
God we sing to so on the night he was betrayed he took bread he broke it he

01:14:01.140 --> 01:14:08.100
thanks and he said this is my body which I'm breaking for you sacrifice he

01:14:08.100 --> 01:14:13.980
sacrificed and so as you eat it remember what he did a and remember the benefits

01:14:13.980 --> 01:14:18.900
of his death that we just shouted out every day we get to enjoy this every day

01:14:18.900 --> 01:14:42.220
eat well he can run at a funeral no in the same way after supper and now the

01:14:43.220 --> 01:14:56.940
because he drank the cup already freedom from guilt so true don't beat yourself

01:14:56.940 --> 01:15:05.220
up yeah could someone give that with another cup if you have one you're okay

01:15:05.420 --> 01:15:12.380
okay so in this in the same way after supper he took the cup and he said guys

01:15:12.380 --> 01:15:18.860
this is my blood with which I sign a new agreement a new covenant with you that's

01:15:18.860 --> 01:15:23.700
what he said yeah that I will never leave you I will never forsake you I

01:15:23.700 --> 01:15:28.660
will never leave you I will never forsake you my father and your father is

01:15:28.660 --> 01:15:35.900

01:15:40.700 --> 01:15:45.580
him we bless him and we remember what he did for us as we drink now in Jesus name

01:15:45.580 --> 01:15:59.980
then if you need prayer there'll be people up front here to pray for you if

01:15:59.980 --> 01:16:03.780

01:16:03.780 --> 01:16:14.660
closing song no okay no closing song see you next Sunday or whenever the church

01:16:14.660 --> 01:16:23.060
