00:00:45.400 --> 00:00:53.900 Because by now, if you've been going home and practicing what is being taught, 00:00:53.900 --> 00:00:56.900 and if we are cooperating with the Holy Spirit, 00:00:56.900 --> 00:01:04.900 we should by now be at that place where we are beginning to wake up in favor, 00:01:04.900 --> 00:01:06.900 not working towards favor. 00:01:08.900 --> 00:01:14.900 And if that is not your default, then work a little harder at making it your default. 00:01:14.900 --> 00:01:21.900 Because after hearing about what God's favor looks like and how he sees us and how it positions us, 00:01:22.900 --> 00:01:25.900 then I should wake up in favor. 00:01:25.900 --> 00:01:30.900 Like when I get up, it should be, oh, shucks, this is too much to handle, I'm too highly favored. 00:01:30.900 --> 00:01:32.900 That should be your attitude. 00:01:32.900 --> 00:01:35.900 That is how we should wake up. 00:01:35.900 --> 00:01:40.900 Otherwise, what will happen is we'll start at a place of negativity or minus, 00:01:40.900 --> 00:01:43.900 and during the day, we'll keep telling ourselves we are favored. 00:01:43.900 --> 00:01:48.900 By the time we get to feeling favored, it's already 11 p.m. 00:01:48.900 --> 00:01:50.900 And so that isn't very helpful. 00:01:50.900 --> 00:01:52.900 So I want you to keep that in mind. 00:01:52.900 --> 00:01:59.900 And for today, I mean, there are different ways of describing favor, not defining favor. 00:01:59.900 --> 00:02:01.900 You cannot define favor because it's so broad. 00:02:01.900 --> 00:02:04.900 It's very hard to define in one sentence. 00:02:04.900 --> 00:02:06.900 But there are different ways of describing favor. 00:02:06.900 --> 00:02:16.900 And today, the description that we'd probably be focusing on most is that favor is permission. 00:02:17.900 --> 00:02:20.900 Favor is permission. 00:02:21.900 --> 00:02:23.900 Favor is permission. 00:02:23.900 --> 00:02:25.900 It's an invitation. 00:02:25.900 --> 00:02:36.900 It's an invitation from God into greater measure, into greater measure. 00:02:36.900 --> 00:02:41.900 It's an invitation from God into greater measure of fullness. 00:02:41.900 --> 00:02:43.900 Of what? 00:02:44.900 --> 00:02:50.900 Of His ways, plans, person. 00:02:52.900 --> 00:02:55.900 That's the beauty of this description of favor. 00:02:55.900 --> 00:03:03.900 Like I said, we have to move from this place where we thought favor was a promotion or a job and stuff like that. 00:03:03.900 --> 00:03:05.900 That's not where it is anymore. 00:03:06.900 --> 00:03:12.900 So today, if we were to describe favor as, how would we describe it today as we talk about this topic? 00:03:12.900 --> 00:03:14.900 It would be favor is permission. 00:03:14.900 --> 00:03:25.900 Favor is God's invitation into a greater measure of, or greater fullness of His ways, His plans, and His person. 00:03:27.900 --> 00:03:32.900 What that does then is favor gives you a vantage point in battle. 00:03:32.900 --> 00:03:37.900 Favor gives you a vantage point in battle. 00:03:38.900 --> 00:03:45.900 Favor gives you a vantage point in battle or in hard circumstances or the wear and tear of the day. 00:03:45.900 --> 00:03:47.900 Favor gives you a vantage point. 00:03:47.900 --> 00:03:48.900 And what is a vantage point? 00:03:48.900 --> 00:03:50.900 A vantage point is a position. 00:03:50.900 --> 00:04:02.900 It's a position that affords you, a position that affords you a wide and advantageous perspective. 00:04:02.900 --> 00:04:05.900 A wide and advantageous perspective. 00:04:08.900 --> 00:04:10.900 A wide and advantageous perspective. 00:04:10.900 --> 00:04:13.900 The great thing is this perspective is not your perspective. 00:04:13.900 --> 00:04:15.900 It is God's perspective of a situation. 00:04:15.900 --> 00:04:17.900 And it is a panoramic perspective. 00:04:17.900 --> 00:04:19.900 So it's not limited. 00:04:19.900 --> 00:04:20.900 It's not narrow. 00:04:20.900 --> 00:04:22.900 It gives you a wide perspective. 00:04:22.900 --> 00:04:28.900 So standing here, I can see like a panoramic view of the church. 00:04:28.900 --> 00:04:29.900 I can look around. 00:04:29.900 --> 00:04:33.900 It's like one of those camera shots where you take the panoramic view. 00:04:33.900 --> 00:04:36.900 Camera shots where you take the panoramic view. 00:04:36.900 --> 00:04:37.900 And that is what you get. 00:04:37.900 --> 00:04:40.900 And it's an advantageous perspective. 00:04:40.900 --> 00:04:43.900 It tells you from God's perspective what is really happening. 00:04:43.900 --> 00:04:53.900 And so favor gives you a vantage point in battle or vantage point in hard situations or difficult circumstances or everyday wear and tear. 00:04:53.900 --> 00:04:59.900 This gives you a very advantageous position to see things from. 00:04:59.900 --> 00:05:01.900 And you're seeing it through God's ways. 00:05:01.900 --> 00:05:03.900 You're seeing it in the context of God's plans. 00:05:03.900 --> 00:05:06.900 And you're seeing it through the mind and the person of God. 00:05:06.900 --> 00:05:08.900 And that changes everything. 00:05:17.900 --> 00:05:19.900 Derek, you want a new job or you're okay? 00:05:19.900 --> 00:05:21.900 You're okay? Okay. 00:05:21.900 --> 00:05:33.900 So that's kind of the scripture passage that we are looking at where God, where Moses had this vantage position to deal with a battle. 00:05:33.900 --> 00:05:41.900 And it's in Exodus 17, Exodus 17, verse 8 to 16. 00:05:41.900 --> 00:05:45.900 Exodus 17, verse 8 to 16. 00:05:46.900 --> 00:05:50.900 Exodus 17, verse 8 to 16. 00:05:53.900 --> 00:05:56.900 Exodus 17, verse 8 to 16. 00:06:00.900 --> 00:06:01.900 Here's what it says. 00:06:01.900 --> 00:06:07.900 The Amalekites came and attacked the Israelites at Rephidim. 00:06:07.900 --> 00:06:12.900 Moses said to Joshua, choose some of our men and go out to fight the Amalekites. 00:06:12.900 --> 00:06:17.900 Tomorrow I will stand on top of the hill with the staff of God in my hands. 00:06:17.900 --> 00:06:21.900 So Joshua fought the Amalekites as Moses had ordered. 00:06:21.900 --> 00:06:25.900 And Moses, Aaron and Her went to the top of the hill. 00:06:25.900 --> 00:06:30.900 As long as Moses held up his hands, the Israelites were winning. 00:06:30.900 --> 00:06:33.900 But whenever he lowered his hands, the Amalekites were winning. 00:06:33.900 --> 00:06:39.900 When Moses' hands grew tired, they took a stone and put it under him and he sat on it. 00:06:40.900 --> 00:06:45.900 Aaron and Her held his hands up, one on one side, one on the other, 00:06:45.900 --> 00:06:48.900 so that his hands remained steady till sunset. 00:06:48.900 --> 00:06:52.900 So Joshua overcame the Amalekite army with the sword. 00:06:52.900 --> 00:06:57.900 Then the Lord said to Moses, write this on a scroll as something to be remembered 00:06:57.900 --> 00:07:05.900 and make sure that Joshua hears it, because I will completely blot out the memory of the Amalek from under the heavens. 00:07:05.900 --> 00:07:10.900 Moses built an altar and called it, The Lord is my banner or Jehovah-Nissi. 00:07:10.900 --> 00:07:14.900 He said, for hands were lifted up to the throne of the Lord, 00:07:14.900 --> 00:07:18.900 the Lord will be at war against the Amalekites from generation to generation. 00:07:18.900 --> 00:07:31.900 Guys, so in this story, it's the first battle since Israel left Egypt. 00:07:31.900 --> 00:07:37.900 These are a slave people and they've left Egypt and this is the first time they're in a battle. 00:07:37.900 --> 00:07:43.900 It's the first time that since leaving Egypt that Israel is involved in a battle. 00:07:43.900 --> 00:07:48.900 You're talking about an exhausted slave people and why do I say exhausted? 00:07:48.900 --> 00:07:55.900 If you go to Deuteronomy 25, verse 18, you'll see their condition when they were attacked. 00:07:55.900 --> 00:07:59.900 Deuteronomy 25, verse 18, and it says there, 00:07:59.900 --> 00:08:05.900 When you were weary and worn out, they met you on your journey and cut off all who were lagging behind. 00:08:05.900 --> 00:08:10.900 They had no fear of God. It's recounting the story of the Amalekite attack. 00:08:10.900 --> 00:08:17.900 And so this is the first battle since leaving Egypt where an exhausted slave people 00:08:17.900 --> 00:08:23.900 were confronted by a trained army that attacked them suddenly and mercilessly. 00:08:23.900 --> 00:08:27.900 You must understand the context because these were not a people that were trained. 00:08:27.900 --> 00:08:30.900 It was not like they had fought. They had only been whipped. 00:08:30.900 --> 00:08:36.900 Their backs still carried the scars and now they're out in the open and an army attacks them without provocation. 00:08:36.900 --> 00:08:42.900 And that is when God begins to speak to Moses and tells him how to go about things. 00:08:42.900 --> 00:08:47.900 So the first point I want to make with regard to favor is that to walk in favor, 00:08:48.900 --> 00:08:50.900 if you say you're walking in favor, 00:08:50.900 --> 00:08:53.900 There must be evidence of the presence and the power of God. 00:08:53.900 --> 00:08:57.900 If you say you're walking in favor, 00:08:57.900 --> 00:09:01.900 then there must be evidence of the presence and the power of God, 00:09:01.900 --> 00:09:05.900 and if there is not, we must work towards cultivating it. 00:09:05.900 --> 00:09:09.900 If you say you're walking in favor, 00:09:09.900 --> 00:09:14.900 then there must be evidence for the presence and the power of God. 00:09:14.900 --> 00:09:16.900 Guys, favor has to be tangible, eh? 00:09:16.900 --> 00:09:18.140 Whenever someone says, 00:09:18.140 --> 00:09:20.540 Oh, the boss showed me favor, 00:09:20.540 --> 00:09:21.420 what do
