So we won't have any questions today. 00:00:16.400 --> 00:00:18.400 No. 00:00:18.400 --> 00:00:20.400 Oh. 00:00:20.400 --> 00:00:24.400 Hey, but wasn't he bold to ask those questions? 00:00:24.400 --> 00:00:25.400 Yeah, he was. 00:00:25.400 --> 00:00:29.400 He's a relatively new guy and he started asking four or five questions. 00:00:29.400 --> 00:00:31.400 I almost wanted to call him bad. 00:00:33.400 --> 00:00:37.400 So here are the three requisites for prevailing prayer. 00:00:37.400 --> 00:00:51.400 And the first requisite for prevailing prayer we said is that if you want to engage in prayer that contends, that fights, that overcomes, that conquers, that's the kind of prayer we're talking about. 00:00:51.400 --> 00:00:56.400 We're not talking about prayer for individual needs, which is what most churches engage in. 00:00:56.400 --> 00:00:57.400 There's nothing wrong with that. 00:00:57.400 --> 00:00:59.400 God loves meeting my individual needs. 00:00:59.400 --> 00:01:04.400 But we're talking about the kind of prayer that has a cost to it. 00:01:04.400 --> 00:01:08.400 And some of the three requisites for prevailing prayer. 00:01:08.400 --> 00:01:18.400 The first one is if a church forgets its mission, it cannot pray the kind of prayer that prevails and engages, contends, conquers. 00:01:18.400 --> 00:01:20.400 A church that forgets its mission. 00:01:20.400 --> 00:01:25.400 And so last week we said that churches forget their mission every two or three weeks. 00:01:25.400 --> 00:01:28.400 We went over this last week so I'm not going to take much time. 00:01:28.400 --> 00:01:30.400 Here's how our mission works. 00:01:30.400 --> 00:01:36.400 And when I say our mission, it's not specific to Acts 29, it's specific to every church that exists. 00:01:37.400 --> 00:01:39.400 So here's how it works. 00:01:40.400 --> 00:01:42.400 So here's how it works. 00:01:44.400 --> 00:01:57.400 The job of the leaders is to make sure that individuals and families are equipped to the point or disciples to the point. 00:01:57.400 --> 00:01:59.400 You can use any word you want. 00:01:59.400 --> 00:02:08.400 Equipped or disciples to the point that they both demonstrate and profess the gospel and the teachings of Christ. 00:02:08.400 --> 00:02:14.400 They penetrate places with the gospel and the teachings of Christ that others don't normally go to. 00:02:14.400 --> 00:02:19.400 And they make sure that the gospel progresses, that it's not stagnant. 00:02:19.400 --> 00:02:21.400 Let me say that again. 00:02:21.400 --> 00:02:31.400 As leaders, it is the job of leaders in a church to make sure that every individual and every family begins to demonstrate and profess the gospel and the teachings of Christ. 00:02:32.400 --> 00:02:38.400 And that they penetrate places that the gospel wouldn't normally go to, where churches wouldn't normally go to. 00:02:38.400 --> 00:02:40.400 Churches that are in the history and that it progresses. 00:02:40.400 --> 00:02:42.400 So where are we taking the gospel? 00:02:42.400 --> 00:02:49.400 To our sphere of influence, to the streets we live in, to the secular society that we occupy and the state of life we are in. 00:02:49.400 --> 00:02:57.400 And therefore we said last week that I cannot influence Jewish kids who want to learn the piano, but he can. 00:02:57.400 --> 00:03:03.400 I cannot influence those that may be learning how to be psychologists, but she can. 00:03:03.400 --> 00:03:06.400 I can't influence students in a school, but Jenny can. 00:03:06.400 --> 00:03:09.400 I can't influence truck drivers, but Ouk can. 00:03:09.400 --> 00:03:19.400 And so it goes into spheres of influence, streets that we occupy, segments of society and the stages of life that we are in. 00:03:19.400 --> 00:03:21.400 And this becomes the job of every person. 00:03:21.400 --> 00:03:29.400 Therefore if you're going on holiday, you must think along the lines of, I am going on a holiday because my family and I need time. 00:03:29.400 --> 00:03:32.400 But our primary purpose during this holiday is father. 00:03:32.400 --> 00:03:36.400 How can we demonstrate and profess the gospel and the teachings of Christ when we are on holiday? 00:03:36.400 --> 00:03:39.400 How do we penetrate places that we go to? 00:03:39.400 --> 00:03:47.400 Our spheres of influence, the streets we walk in in Hawaii, the segments of society and the hotel we occupy and the state of life we are in. 00:03:47.400 --> 00:03:52.400 Because not all of you know about bungee jumping. I can't see Kamal bungee jumping. 00:03:55.400 --> 00:03:57.400 I can't. 00:03:57.400 --> 00:04:01.400 So I'm just trying to reimagine it in a restful way. Sorry Kamal. 00:04:01.400 --> 00:04:06.400 Because I didn't think of that about myself either, Kamal. So we are in the same boat. That makes you feel better. 00:04:06.400 --> 00:04:13.400 So now that we've taken it into these places, it doesn't matter whether you're on holiday or on work, this is how you think. 00:04:13.400 --> 00:04:18.400 What is our intent of taking the gospel of Christ and his teachings? 00:04:18.400 --> 00:04:23.400 What is our intent? Our intent is it's the only way people can be rescued. 00:04:23.400 --> 00:04:27.400 It's the only way people can be rescued. There's just no other way people can be rescued. 00:04:27.400 --> 00:04:40.400 There is only one name on the heaven and earth by which a person can be rescued from sin, sickness, physical danger, false doctrine, the penalty of sin, hell, death. 00:04:40.400 --> 00:04:45.400 There's only one name and that name is the name of Jesus Christ. No other name. 00:04:45.400 --> 00:04:50.400 I mean the word sozo which basically is what rescue and salvation means. 00:04:50.400 --> 00:04:59.400 Saves us from sin, from Satan, from the penalty of sin, from dangers, from physical death, sorry from eternal death, from sickness. 00:04:59.400 --> 00:05:03.400 All of this is included and there's only one name that can do it and that is the name of Jesus. 00:05:03.400 --> 00:05:08.400 And so why are we doing this? Because you have to feel for cancer. 00:05:09.400 --> 00:05:16.400 So we do it because it rescues people and it transforms people and the world is watching it. 00:05:16.400 --> 00:05:21.400 And that's why we have to both demonstrate and profess, demonstrate and profess. 00:05:21.400 --> 00:05:26.400 And become the job of everyone from Wayne to Dagmar to the kids who go off to Sunday school. 00:05:28.400 --> 00:05:32.400 Guys this will be repeated at least 52 times over the next one year. 00:05:32.400 --> 00:05:37.400 So that it becomes like breathing. 00:05:37.400 --> 00:05:42.400 So that we don't think any other way because the church loses its mission every two or three weeks. 00:05:42.400 --> 00:05:44.400 We forget. 00:05:45.400 --> 00:05:49.400 Like I said last time, my reason for coming to church is I want to be a strong Christian. 00:05:49.400 --> 00:05:53.400 Jesus' reason for bringing people to church and strengthening them is very different. 00:05:53.400 --> 00:05:57.400 He says come to the church and be strengthened as you have not come to the service. 00:05:57.400 --> 00:06:03.400 Be the church and be strengthened so that you might pour out your life and have nothing left every week. 00:06:03.400 --> 00:06:05.400 That's the intent of being strong. 00:06:05.400 --> 00:06:08.400 Might be a strong church so that you can pour out your life every week. 00:06:11.400 --> 00:06:15.400 And then come back absolutely exhausted so that you can be strengthened again. 00:06:15.400 --> 00:06:19.400 Any other reason for being strong? A Christian. 00:06:21.400 --> 00:06:24.400 You're only strong so that you can be poured out. 00:06:24.400 --> 00:06:26.400 You're only rich so that you can be poured out. 00:06:26.400 --> 00:06:30.400 You're only amazingly talented so that you can be poured out. 00:06:30.400 --> 00:06:34.400 At the end of the day, I must expend everything in me so that there is nothing left. 00:06:34.400 --> 00:06:38.400 So that the Holy Spirit can again do a new work and fill again. 00:06:40.400 --> 00:06:41.400 Any questions on that? 00:06:48.400 --> 00:06:56.400 Okay. So when the world is rescued and transformed, we then make disciples of them. 00:06:57.400 --> 00:06:59.400 The intent of discipling is threefold. 00:06:59.400 --> 00:07:03.400 One, to become a disciple as there is no other category in the Bible. 00:07:03.400 --> 00:07:05.400 You'll be either a disciple or you're not. 00:07:05.400 --> 00:07:07.400 Jesus didn't have any other category. 00:07:07.400 --> 00:07:08.400 We talked about that last week. 00:07:08.400 --> 00:07:10.400 He didn't have convents. He didn't have believers. 00:07:10.400 --> 00:07:12.400 He didn't have same-seed. 00:07:12.400 --> 00:07:15.400 All came up with that. He just had disciples. 00:07:15.400 --> 00:07:18.400 So one is a disciple and two is to bring them into freedom. 00:07:18.400 --> 00:07:20.400 We are still in the process. Why do you think we need discipling? 00:07:20.400 --> 00:07:25.400 We need discipling because there are still areas in your life, in my life, where there is fear, there is anxiety. 00:07:25.400 --> 00:07:29.400 There are addictions. There are psychological problems. 00:07:29.400 --> 00:07:32.400 There are mental issues, different things that you and I are suffering through. 00:07:32.400 --> 00:07:38.400 Backgrounds that may come from that have been so terrible and it still tells in our life right now. 00:07:38.400 --> 00:07:41.400 And therefore discipling brings us to a place of greater freedom. 00:07:41.400 --> 00:07:44.400 I wish I was completely free. I am not. 00:07:47.400 --> 00:07:49.400 And then the third one is establishment. 00:07:49.400 --> 00:07:51.400 Once you free somebody, you can establish them. 00:07:51.400 --> 00:07:52.400 To do what? 00:07:52.400 --> 00:07:57.400 To go to Jerusalem, to go to Judea, to go to Samaria, to go to the ends of the earth and maybe disciples. 00:07:57.400 --> 00:07:59.400 This is the mission of the church. 00:07:59.400 --> 00:08:04.400 When this becomes a mission of the church and this is all you eat and drink, a strange thing will begin to happen to you. 00:08:04.400 --> 00:08:06.400 Your prayers will change. 00:08:10.400 --> 00:08:14.400 This is why it's important to go over this point again and again and again. 00:08:14.400 --> 00:08:21.400 When your goal or purpose changes, your prayer, your attitude and the way you use your resources change. 00:08:21.400 --> 00:08:23.400 It's always that way. 00:08:25.400 --> 00:08:26.400 Questions? 00:08:34.400 --> 00:08:35.400 No questions? 00:08:37.400 --> 00:08:40.400 Do you understand why it's important to keep hopping on this? 00:08:40.400 --> 00:08:46.400 Because if this becomes the goal of the mission, the very air we breathe, then it begins to change the way we pray. 00:08:46.400 --> 00:08:49.400 Because everything is now about somebody else somewhere or something else. 00:08:49.400 --> 00:08:54.400 And in the process, God takes care of you because you're building His house so He builds yours. 00:08:59.400 --> 00:09:00.400 Would you go on? 00:09:01.400 --> 00:09:02.400 No questions? 00:09:03.400 --> 00:09:05.400 I must have been tired already. 00:09:05.400 --> 00:09:07.400 I don't know what happened last night. 00:09:07.400 --> 00:09:12.400 Okay, the second point which we went over four weeks ago is... 00:09:12.400 --> 00:09:23.400 So the first prerequisite for creating prayer is that the church must remember its mission, must read its mission, must not forget its mission, must not have amnesia. 00:09:23.400 --> 00:09:24.400 I read this amazing book. 00:09:24.400 --> 00:09:25.400 I think I've told you about it. 00:09:25.400 --> 00:09:28.400 Sidney Randolph, the author of The Greatest Prayer, is a great poet. 00:09:28.400 --> 00:09:29.400 He's a great poet. 00:09:29.400 --> 00:09:30.400 He's a great poet. 00:09:30.400 --> 00:09:31.400 He's a great poet. 00:09:31.400 --> 00:09:32.400 He's a great poet. 00:09:32.400 --> 00:09:33.400 He's a great poet. 00:09:33.400 --> 00:09:34.400 He's a great poet. 00:09:34.400 --> 00:09:35.400 He's a great poet. 00:09:35.400 --> 00:09:36.400 I read this amazing book. 00:09:36.400 --> 00:09:37.400 I think I've told you about it. 00:09:37.400 --> 00:09:38.400 Cinderella with Amnesia. 00:09:38.400 --> 00:09:39.400 Cinderella with Amnesia. 00:09:39.400 --> 00:09:41.400 And the book is about the church. 00:09:41.400 --> 00:09:43.400 That the church is Cinderella. 00:09:43.400 --> 00:09:50.400 She's lost her shoe, but she doesn't even remember that she does not have a shoe on and she doesn't remember where she lost it. 00:09:50.400 --> 00:09:53.400 What a beautiful title for a book, eh? 00:09:53.400 --> 00:09:54.400 Cinderella with Amnesia. 00:09:54.400 --> 00:09:55.400 Really old book. 00:09:55.400 --> 00:09:57.400 You won't find it anymore. 00:09:59.400 --> 00:10:00.400 And so true. 00:10:00.400 --> 00:10:08.400 We don't even remember what we meet for other than strengthening our own selves, which is so not Christlike. 00:10:08.400 --> 00:10:17.400 The father sent his son, made him strong for one reason only, so that he can hang on a cross and pour himself out for the sake of the world. 00:10:18.400 --> 00:10:23.400 And that is his only intent with now the son that occupies his body, the church. 00:10:23.400 --> 00:10:28.400 I'm strengthening you so that you can pour yourself out for the rest of the world. 00:10:28.400 --> 00:10:31.400 Because many more have to be brought into this world. 00:10:31.400 --> 00:10:33.400 And then we'll get tired of saying this, guys. 00:10:33.400 --> 00:10:35.400 So get ready for another 51 revolutions. 00:10:35.400 --> 00:10:41.400 So the second prerequisite for prayer is know the strength of your opposition. 00:10:41.400 --> 00:10:43.400 Know the strength of your opposition. 00:10:43.400 --> 00:10:45.400 Know the size and the nature of your opposition. 00:10:45.400 --> 00:10:50.400 But don't be too enamored by the size of the opposition, because that does not bring breakthrough. 00:10:50.400 --> 00:10:52.400 Know the nature and the size of the opposition. 00:10:52.400 --> 00:10:54.400 So you're not caught napping. 00:10:54.400 --> 00:11:02.400 And so this is straight out of Ephesians 6, 12, where it says that we wrestle not against flesh and blood. 00:11:02.400 --> 00:11:09.400 So none of us are battles in prayer against normal flesh and blood. 00:11:09.400 --> 00:11:12.400 In Colossians 1.13, here's what it says. 00:11:12.400 --> 00:11:16.400 It says that you once used to belong to the kingdom of darkness. 00:11:17.400 --> 00:11:27.400 But when you were rescued by Jesus, Jesus transferred you out of the kingdom of darkness into the dominion of the sun. 00:11:27.400 --> 00:11:36.400 So there's nobody in this room right now who did not exist in a kingdom that had only one purpose. 00:11:36.400 --> 00:11:43.400 Can I see you kill and destroy your life so that you never get to see Jesus Christ who made you, never get to see. 00:11:43.400 --> 00:11:46.400 So that you never get to see. 00:11:46.400 --> 00:11:52.400 I mean the very name kingdom of darkness means absolute blindness. 00:11:52.400 --> 00:11:59.400 In another scripture in 2 Corinthians 4, it says that God of this world has blinded them from seeing the light. 00:11:59.400 --> 00:12:01.400 That's where everybody existed. 00:12:01.400 --> 00:12:03.400 Look at who blinds you. 00:12:03.400 --> 00:12:05.400 We talked about this four weeks ago. 00:12:05.400 --> 00:12:07.400 All these are Greek words. 00:12:07.400 --> 00:12:13.400 Look at the spiritual array of powers that blinds the world. 00:12:13.400 --> 00:12:21.400 And this is why prevailing prayer is required if you want to break open bars of iron, open double gates as it says in Isaiah 45 verses 1 and 2. 00:12:21.400 --> 00:12:23.400 And get the treasures of darkness. 00:12:23.400 --> 00:12:25.400 The treasures of darkness is not money. 00:12:25.400 --> 00:12:36.400 The treasures of darkness are precious, precious people that are hidden behind bars of iron, never able to see the light of Jesus Christ who made them, who cares for them, who did everything to draw them back. 00:12:36.400 --> 00:12:38.400 And now wants his body to go and tell them. 00:12:38.400 --> 00:12:40.400 Simple. 00:12:40.400 --> 00:12:47.400 And so look at the forces, the demonic forces that are arrayed against us in the world. 00:12:47.400 --> 00:12:49.400 You just happen to be rescued out of there. 00:12:49.400 --> 00:12:56.400 This is where a whisper, praise God you did that, might end up being heard in here. 00:12:56.400 --> 00:12:59.400 So if you want to try it, praise God you did that. 00:12:59.400 --> 00:13:03.400 Because we don't want to shout, you're Canadian. 00:13:03.400 --> 00:13:06.400 But just imagine this guys. 00:13:06.400 --> 00:13:08.400 Just imagine. 00:13:08.400 --> 00:13:12.400 All these powers were holding you back. 00:13:12.400 --> 00:13:17.400 Archangel means chiefs as in humongous demonic forces. 00:13:17.400 --> 00:13:24.400 Chiefs as in archangel kind of demonic forces. 00:13:24.400 --> 00:13:27.400 Lucifer was one of them. 00:13:28.400 --> 00:13:31.400 Exusia which means powers and principalities. 00:13:31.400 --> 00:13:33.400 Powers and principalities. 00:13:33.400 --> 00:13:41.400 Where there are nations and regions where there is darkness that is so powerful that it is impossible for people to escape. 00:13:41.400 --> 00:13:47.400 And the strange thing is sitting here are people from different nations and we were rescued by Christ. 00:13:47.400 --> 00:13:49.400 This is the amazing thing. 00:13:49.400 --> 00:13:55.400 The name of Christ can rescue you whether you're from India, Mongolia, the Middle East, Great Britain, Canada. 00:13:55.400 --> 00:13:59.400 Doesn't matter because the powers and principalities are everywhere. 00:13:59.400 --> 00:14:01.400 They just take on different shapes and forms. 00:14:01.400 --> 00:14:05.400 And then the third one is cosmocra, which is world rulers. 00:14:05.400 --> 00:14:09.400 Where do you think ideologies come from? Where do you think religions come from? 00:14:09.400 --> 00:14:11.400 Where do you think mysticism comes from? 00:14:11.400 --> 00:14:13.400 Where do you think these come from? 00:14:13.400 --> 00:14:15.400 We don't have the sense to invent it. 00:14:19.400 --> 00:14:22.400 And then pneumaticos which is bodiless spirits. 00:14:22.400 --> 00:14:23.400 Bodiless spirits. 00:14:23.400 --> 00:14:25.400 And this is giving you the plain, clear translation. 00:14:25.400 --> 00:14:28.400 Bodiless spirits of depravity. 00:14:28.400 --> 00:14:30.400 Bodiless spirits of depravity. 00:14:30.400 --> 00:14:36.400 When you begin to understand the science and the nature of opposition, then you begin to realize, 00:14:36.400 --> 00:14:39.400 ah shut so we don't really wrestle against pressure. 00:14:39.400 --> 00:14:45.400 But there's no point getting angry with some guy who might be preaching a false doctrine, promoting a false ideology. 00:14:45.400 --> 00:14:49.400 Because behind it lies an array of forces that have to be dealt with. 00:14:49.400 --> 00:14:54.400 And when we begin to think like that, God begins to show us what to touch and what to undo. 00:14:54.400 --> 00:15:05.400 Therefore when Paul goes into Ephesus, he knows that there is this goddess of Artemis that has to be brought down, that has to be undone. 00:15:05.400 --> 00:15:09.400 And in Ephesus as he begins to speak, strange things begin to happen. 00:15:09.400 --> 00:15:16.400 People bring 50,000 vatmas worth of magic potions, charts, papers, papyrus, and they throw it and they burn it. 00:15:16.400 --> 00:15:19.400 What's being done that the powers that are pressing there? 00:15:25.400 --> 00:15:27.400 Daniel knew this in Babylon. 00:15:31.400 --> 00:15:33.400 He knew what he was going up against. 00:15:33.400 --> 00:15:36.400 Moses knew it when he was standing before Pharaoh. 00:15:39.400 --> 00:15:45.400 And the Holy Spirit who is absolutely filled with greed whenever there is a battle afoot. 00:15:46.400 --> 00:15:51.400 Is looking for people who will listen and say, sure, we know how to pay for it. 00:15:54.400 --> 00:15:55.400 Any questions? 00:15:57.400 --> 00:15:58.400 J.K. 00:15:58.400 --> 00:16:06.400 With the world rulers, I just want to see the word that that's not, people aren't in charge of the countries that we're in. 00:16:06.400 --> 00:16:09.400 No, we're not talking about sexual love. We're talking about the spiritual love. 00:16:09.400 --> 00:16:16.400 Is there likely to be a connection between spiritual world rulers and world rulers? 00:16:16.400 --> 00:16:19.400 Yeah, there are connections between spiritual world rulers and world rulers. 00:16:22.400 --> 00:16:27.400 Because you find certain nations, hey, it doesn't matter that you bring an Indian out of India, 00:16:27.400 --> 00:16:32.400 he still has certain cultural values that are so deeply ingrained over 4,000 to 5,000 years 00:16:32.400 --> 00:16:36.400 that you can't remove it from him until he decides to embrace a kingdom value. 00:16:36.400 --> 00:16:42.400 Why is it that you can remove a person from his home and bring him to a foreign nation and plant him there 00:16:42.400 --> 00:16:47.400 and he yet holds on to certain cultural beliefs, religious beliefs from the land he came out of? 00:16:47.400 --> 00:16:49.400 Because it's a deeply steeped day. 00:16:54.400 --> 00:16:57.400 We fight against it being taken away. 00:16:57.400 --> 00:17:00.400 It's not that our culture is unimportant. 00:17:00.400 --> 00:17:05.400 It is that it is secondary because there is an overarching culture now for the kingdom culture 00:17:05.400 --> 00:17:09.400 as in the ways of Christ that must override everything else. 00:17:12.400 --> 00:17:18.400 And many of our cultural traditions, doesn't matter whether you're British, or Canadian, or Indian, or Mongolian, or whatever, 00:17:18.400 --> 00:17:24.400 have such poisonous roots that you can't remove them. 00:17:24.400 --> 00:17:36.400 And like I said, the Second Corinthians 4 says that the eyes of people are blinded by these people, 00:17:36.400 --> 00:17:39.400 by these eyes of the world are blinded. 00:17:39.400 --> 00:17:42.400 Who can sense it? The only ones who have light inside them. 00:17:42.400 --> 00:17:46.400 Who are the ones who have light in treasures inside jars of clay? Us. 00:17:46.400 --> 00:17:49.400 What needs to happen with the jars of clay? Break them. 00:17:49.400 --> 00:17:53.400 What does breaking look like? 00:17:53.400 --> 00:17:57.400 Facing scorn and opposition and being absolutely unsophisticated 00:17:57.400 --> 00:18:02.400 and preaching this simple gospel for a man who is supposed to be king but was crucified. 00:18:02.400 --> 00:18:05.400 It is such a not sophisticated message. 00:18:05.400 --> 00:18:09.400 There is nothing wise about it in Greek stated. 00:18:09.400 --> 00:18:12.400 There's nothing miraculous about it that Jews didn't like. 00:18:12.400 --> 00:18:15.400 And that is the message that you and I are supposed to take out and preach. 00:18:15.400 --> 00:18:18.400 But we costumed it. I did not costume it. 00:18:18.400 --> 00:18:21.400 Preach as it is. 00:18:21.400 --> 00:18:25.400 That Christ is God. 00:25:27.400 --> 00:25:28.400 The Spirit of God. 00:25:29.400 --> 00:25:30.400 Who knows you? 00:25:30.400 --> 00:25:32.400 How the Spirit of God knows him. 00:25:33.400 --> 00:25:37.400 He clowns the depths of the Father and brings to you who the Father really is. 00:25:38.400 --> 00:25:43.400 So why not start the day of saying, and this is so important for us, because our minds are dull in a sense. 00:25:44.400 --> 00:25:45.400 How do you comprehend? 00:25:46.400 --> 00:25:49.400 How does someone who's blind from birth comprehend the sunrise and the sunset? 00:25:50.400 --> 00:25:51.400 And now multiply that a million times. 00:25:52.400 --> 00:25:53.400 That's what we're trying to do. 00:25:54.400 --> 00:26:05.400 And yet you have his spirit who knows him, who clowns the depths of his eternal life and then says, Jacob, let me show you something about your father that you haven't seen yet. 00:26:07.400 --> 00:26:10.400 And I always like saying there'll never be an end to it because he's in fire. 00:26:11.400 --> 00:26:14.400 So there'll never be a point in our life where we say, aha, God finally I got you. 00:26:15.400 --> 00:26:16.400 No. 00:26:16.400 --> 00:26:22.400 But to spend the rest of our life every day asking the Holy Spirit, can you show me a little bit more of the Father? Think of how much you've yearned over someone. 00:27:40.400 --> 00:27:43.400 Or if you're a mother or a father, think of how much you've yearned over your child. 00:27:44.400 --> 00:27:47.400 Or if you're a mother or a father, a brother or a sister who's had a younger brother or sister, 00:27:48.400 --> 00:27:51.400 and think of how you've yearned over your child, especially when the child is not doing well. 00:27:52.400 --> 00:27:53.400 How you long for the child to do well. 00:27:54.400 --> 00:27:58.400 Multiply that a million times and you will get the heart of the Holy Spirit saying, 00:27:59.400 --> 00:28:01.400 I yearn over you, Jacob, to make the Father known a little more. 00:28:02.400 --> 00:28:03.400 Catch a glimpse of him that you haven't caught. 00:28:04.400 --> 00:28:05.400 Show you a sight of him that you haven't seen yet. 00:28:06.400 --> 00:28:08.400 He yearns for it. Is there scripture for it? 00:28:09.400 --> 00:28:12.400 Yes, in James chapter 4 it says the Spirit of God yearns jealously over you. 00:28:13.400 --> 00:28:16.400 There's a possessiveness that he has because he knows you are the father, son or daughter 00:28:17.400 --> 00:28:19.400 and he loves letting the father be known to his sons and daughters. 00:28:19.400 --> 00:28:20.400 Yearns over you. 00:28:21.400 --> 00:28:24.400 All the more reason why we should pray Ephesians 3.16. 00:28:25.400 --> 00:28:31.400 It enlightens our mind, it opens our eyes, it makes us see things that we would otherwise not be able to see. 00:28:32.400 --> 00:28:33.400 What a brilliant God, huh? 00:28:34.400 --> 00:28:37.400 Furnishes us with everything so that we can partake in his divine work. 00:28:38.400 --> 00:28:40.400 First Peter, I think, or second Peter. 00:28:43.400 --> 00:28:47.400 So one of the main ministries of the Holy Spirit is not that we speak in tongues, 00:28:47.400 --> 00:28:48.400 though he gives us its tongues. 00:28:49.400 --> 00:28:52.400 One of the main ministries of the Holy Spirit is, very simple, 00:28:53.400 --> 00:28:56.400 it is to make the power and the presence of Christ real to you. 00:28:57.400 --> 00:29:00.400 To make the power and the presence of Christ real to you. 00:29:01.400 --> 00:29:04.400 This is what the Old Testament prophets, priests and kings used to enjoy 00:29:05.400 --> 00:29:09.400 because they were the only ones who could have that privilege where Yahweh would be made known to them 00:29:10.400 --> 00:29:13.400 by the falling on them of the Holy Spirit. 00:29:14.400 --> 00:29:16.400 God's Spirit would come upon them. 00:29:17.400 --> 00:29:18.400 Yahweh would prophesy. 00:29:19.400 --> 00:29:22.400 David would begin to do amazing things, even Saul prophesied. 00:29:23.400 --> 00:29:25.400 But now there is no prophet, priest, king distinction. 00:29:26.400 --> 00:29:30.400 It's everybody and the ministry of the Holy Spirit, the primary ministry of the Holy Spirit is, 00:29:31.400 --> 00:29:32.400 now that I live in you and you are my temple, 00:29:33.400 --> 00:29:36.400 can I make the power and the presence of God really real to you? 00:29:37.400 --> 00:29:39.400 Drink it up like you're drinking. 00:29:42.400 --> 00:29:44.400 Let's go for a coffee. 00:29:45.400 --> 00:29:47.400 I was thinking of some other drink. 00:29:48.400 --> 00:29:50.400 Not everyone can think that's healthy. 00:29:51.400 --> 00:29:53.400 So it was, now I've got it. 00:29:54.400 --> 00:29:57.400 Ephesians 1, 18, 20 we've already read. 00:29:58.400 --> 00:30:00.400 Guys, the eyes of our understanding, 00:30:01.400 --> 00:30:04.400 the eyes of our understanding need to be open. 00:30:05.400 --> 00:30:07.400 Ephesians 1, 18 we just read that. 00:30:08.400 --> 00:30:09.400 The eyes of our understanding are open in three ways. 00:30:09.400 --> 00:30:16.400 Time, teachability, trainability. 00:30:17.400 --> 00:30:21.400 These are the three things that open up the eyes of our understanding. 00:30:22.400 --> 00:30:24.400 I know how to spell trainability but I spelled it wrong there. 00:30:25.400 --> 00:30:32.400 So one of the ways the eyes of our understanding is open is when we spend enough time with the Holy Spirit. 00:30:33.400 --> 00:30:37.400 Say, hey Holy Spirit I'm really here for this, just like you are to teach me. 00:30:37.400 --> 00:30:39.400 So could you show me from the Word? 00:30:40.400 --> 00:30:41.400 God will use to open up the Word. 00:30:42.400 --> 00:30:44.400 Because at the end of the day who's the author of the Word but the Spirit of God? 00:30:45.400 --> 00:30:48.400 The second one is teachability and that happens indirectly in some situations like this. 00:30:49.400 --> 00:30:53.400 Whereas I'm talking to you, you say, oh shut up, I've read that before but now it makes sense. 00:30:54.400 --> 00:30:55.400 Teachability. 00:30:56.400 --> 00:30:58.400 There's nothing that's copyrighted in the Church. 00:30:59.400 --> 00:31:01.400 Anything that I'm telling you I must have heard it somewhere. 00:31:01.400 --> 00:31:03.400 So feel free to take these truths and market them. 00:31:04.400 --> 00:31:08.400 As in, look what Isaiah 55 tells you to do. 00:31:09.400 --> 00:31:13.400 Oh, is anyone thirsty? Is anyone hungry? Come, for I have bread for you. 00:31:14.400 --> 00:31:17.400 Eat, and you don't even have to pay for it. 00:31:18.400 --> 00:31:19.400 That's what Isaiah 55 says. 00:31:20.400 --> 00:31:21.400 You do the same thing. 00:31:22.400 --> 00:31:28.400 So the second way we have the eyes of our understanding is to be open. 00:31:28.400 --> 00:31:32.400 The second way we have the eyes of our understanding is to be open to teachability. 00:31:33.400 --> 00:31:34.400 God uses people to teach us. 00:31:35.400 --> 00:31:36.400 Like it's happening right now. 00:31:37.400 --> 00:31:38.400 And the last one is trainability. 00:31:39.400 --> 00:31:41.400 Because God says you can't be just heroes of the world but doers. 00:31:42.400 --> 00:31:45.400 It requires that when I hear something that I do something with it. 00:31:46.400 --> 00:31:48.400 Because I just can't be a hero, I have to be a doer. 00:31:49.400 --> 00:31:55.400 Therefore when these three things come together, you'll find that your growth begins to accelerate rapidly. 00:31:55.400 --> 00:32:08.400 I would suggest to you that the reason Paul did phenomenally well, even though he was man born out of time and didn't actually have a meeting with Jesus in his physical body. 00:32:09.400 --> 00:32:11.400 The reason Paul did so well is perhaps because of this. 00:32:12.400 --> 00:32:16.400 He goes off into the deserts of Damascus in Saudi Arabia and spends time there. 00:32:17.400 --> 00:32:19.400 Christ revealed himself to Paul directly. 00:32:20.400 --> 00:32:24.400 This is why Paul always says it's my gospel and this is why I say my gospel. 00:32:25.400 --> 00:32:27.400 Because he received the story of Christ directly from Christ. 00:32:28.400 --> 00:32:32.400 First Corinthians 11 he says and now let me give to you what Christ gave to me. 00:32:33.400 --> 00:32:35.400 And he says, he starts breaking bread. 00:32:36.400 --> 00:32:37.400 And then the second thing was teachability. 00:32:38.400 --> 00:32:39.400 He learned. Ephesians 2.6. 00:34:05.400 --> 00:34:06.400 Look at what it says. 00:34:07.400 --> 00:34:08.400 This is beautiful. 00:34:08.400 --> 00:34:21.400 It says that Ephesians 2.6 and God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus. 00:34:22.400 --> 00:34:23.400 And so now that's the truth. 00:34:24.400 --> 00:34:26.400 It's not something that's going to happen in the future. 00:34:27.400 --> 00:34:36.400 It is something that it's all about things because the life that you personally possess is the indissoluble eternal life of Christ. 00:34:36.400 --> 00:34:48.400 The moment you receive Christ, the old you died and you got a brand new spirit and you are saturated and full of the Holy Spirit and Christ lives in you. 00:34:49.400 --> 00:34:50.400 Ephesians 2.20. 00:34:51.400 --> 00:34:58.400 It is no longer I that live but Christ that lives in me and the life that I now live I live by faith in the Son of God who loved me and died for me. 00:34:59.400 --> 00:35:04.400 So Christ actually believes that you are seated with him in heavenly places. 00:35:05.400 --> 00:35:06.400 But look why? Look why? 00:35:07.400 --> 00:35:08.400 Verse 7. 00:35:09.400 --> 00:35:19.400 Seated with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus in order that in coming ages he might show the incomparable riches of his grace expressed in his kindness to us in Christ Jesus. 00:35:20.400 --> 00:35:23.400 Guys, Jesus loves being kind to you. 00:35:24.400 --> 00:35:26.400 He enjoys being kind to you. 00:35:26.400 --> 00:35:31.400 Why is it important to recognize the risen and ascended Christ as one who is kind? 00:35:32.400 --> 00:35:37.400 Because when you realize how kind he is you will stop casting suspicions on his character. 00:35:38.400 --> 00:35:44.400 One of our biggest problems living here on earth and praying is we are not sure that God is kind. 00:35:45.400 --> 00:35:48.400 I'm talking about kindness that comes out of tremendous compassion and love. 00:35:49.400 --> 00:35:52.400 It's not kindness that comes out of I got money in my pocket and I'd like to give you some. 00:35:52.400 --> 00:35:55.400 It's not kindness that comes out of it's Sunday. 00:35:56.400 --> 00:35:57.400 Therefore I will be kind. 00:35:58.400 --> 00:36:00.400 There is no kindness month in heaven. 00:36:01.400 --> 00:36:02.400 Every month serves kindness. 00:36:03.400 --> 00:36:08.400 And so one of the things Jesus is extremely kind, extremely kind. 00:36:09.400 --> 00:36:15.400 And the more you realize how loving and kind he is the less you will cast suspicion on his character. 00:36:16.400 --> 00:36:23.400 Therefore when you are sick you will not go and think Jesus is doing this so that I may learn a lesson. 00:36:24.400 --> 00:36:26.400 Jesus is doing this because he's trying to punish me so that I might change. 00:36:27.400 --> 00:36:29.400 Jesus is doing this because he wants an angel in heaven. 00:36:30.400 --> 00:36:33.400 That one sucks. I do not do anything without checking with at least one or two leaders. When I'm in trouble, I call the leaders. When I'm unsure, I call the leaders. Not girded. Not ready. 01:14:05.400 --> 01:14:08.400 And that's what happens when the belt of truth is missing. 01:14:08.400 --> 01:14:14.400 I find this so alarming and at the same time such a thing that I need to focus on. 01:14:14.400 --> 01:14:21.400 Because when untruth works itself into my life then I lose my ability to wield the sword. 01:14:21.400 --> 01:14:30.400 Which is the only offensive weapon I have because everything is killed with a double-edged sword when it comes to things that are false and true. 01:14:30.400 --> 01:14:32.400 Everything is a double-edged sword of the spirit. 01:14:32.400 --> 01:14:42.400 And when truth is not something that is important to me in my life then what begins to happen is that I'm unable to wield the sword. 01:14:43.400 --> 01:14:51.400 This is when you begin to go into error because whenever truth is not loved it's only a matter of time before delusion comes in. 01:14:51.400 --> 01:15:02.400 First Thessalonians talks about this and first Thessalonians 2 it says when people refuse or resist to reject the truth delusion is waiting in the wings to make an entry. 01:15:02.400 --> 01:15:19.400 And so when Jacob and this has happened you know in 1994 when I first came to Canada in 1995 I see a dream and in this dream I'm walking around and I've got a belt and I see a crack on the belt and I don't pay attention to it. 01:15:19.400 --> 01:15:29.400 And I keep walking and time passes by and the crack begins to grow to a point where the actual belt snaps because I didn't pay attention to the first crack that developed. 01:15:29.400 --> 01:15:34.400 And it's very easy I didn't need to go into some famous dream interpreter for that one. 01:15:34.400 --> 01:15:41.400 It was that Jacob focus on truth when your belt is staring because you don't love the truth enough. 01:15:41.400 --> 01:15:45.400 You're okay with a few exaggerations here, a few untruths there, a few deceptions here. 01:15:45.400 --> 01:15:50.400 You're okay with that. Why? Because the belt of truth is missing. 01:16:56.400 --> 01:17:04.400 And finally my loins are not girded with strength.
