Tozer said. 00:00:44.000 --> 00:00:52.000 He said, we go astray when we attempt to do spiritual work without spiritual power. 00:00:52.000 --> 00:00:54.000 Can I say that again? 00:00:54.000 --> 00:01:01.000 We go astray when we try and do spiritual work without spiritual power. 00:01:01.000 --> 00:01:08.000 And as Dawn was doing the welcoming, it is like that is part of spiritual work. 00:01:08.000 --> 00:01:15.000 We need the power of the Spirit to do what Jesus has asked us to do. 00:01:15.000 --> 00:01:19.000 If it's go to nations, if it's to heal, if it's to set the captives free, 00:01:19.000 --> 00:01:24.000 if it's to tell people about Christ, we don't need intellectualism. 00:01:24.000 --> 00:01:28.000 We don't need to be very clever. We need the power. 00:01:28.000 --> 00:01:34.000 If you think of the eleven disciples that were left, these were young men in their twenties. 00:01:34.000 --> 00:01:36.000 They were uneducated. 00:01:36.000 --> 00:01:39.000 Well, they could know the Torah, but they were fishermen. 00:01:39.000 --> 00:01:44.000 They were just plain young guys, maybe still trying to fool around, 00:01:44.000 --> 00:01:47.000 but they had the power of the Holy Spirit. 00:01:47.000 --> 00:01:52.000 And sometimes I disqualify myself thinking, I'm not good enough. 00:01:52.000 --> 00:01:56.000 I need to get educated more in what those things are before the Lord can use us. 00:01:56.000 --> 00:01:58.000 And that's not the truth. 00:01:58.000 --> 00:02:00.000 The truth is we don't need a lot of that. 00:02:00.000 --> 00:02:04.000 What we do need is we need the power of the Holy Spirit. 00:02:04.000 --> 00:02:08.000 So when A.W. Tozer said this, he said, we go astray. 00:02:08.000 --> 00:02:10.000 And so the question is, how do we go astray? 00:02:10.000 --> 00:02:12.000 And I was thinking about this. 00:02:12.000 --> 00:02:17.000 I believe we go astray in this one, is that religion kicks in 00:02:17.000 --> 00:02:22.000 when we try and do spiritual work without spiritual power. 00:02:22.000 --> 00:02:24.000 Religion kicks in. 00:02:24.000 --> 00:02:27.000 Religion means I'm trying to do this in my own flesh. 00:02:27.000 --> 00:02:28.000 I'm trying to work it up. 00:02:28.000 --> 00:02:33.000 I'm using self-effort to do what Christ is asking me to do. 00:02:33.000 --> 00:02:35.000 And religion normally sounds like this in my life. 00:02:35.000 --> 00:02:38.000 I'm not too sure about yours, but in mine it sounds a lot like this. 00:02:38.000 --> 00:02:40.000 After a while I'm going, I'm tired. 00:02:40.000 --> 00:02:43.000 This is not working. 00:02:43.000 --> 00:02:44.000 Have you ever felt like that before? 00:02:44.000 --> 00:02:45.000 I feel like that. 00:02:45.000 --> 00:02:46.000 Like this is tired. 00:02:46.000 --> 00:02:48.000 And then I have to realize, I have to backtrack and go back and go, 00:02:48.000 --> 00:02:53.000 hold on, is this the power of God working in me or is this my... 00:02:53.000 --> 00:02:56.000 I'm going to do this. 00:02:56.000 --> 00:03:01.000 Because that I'm going to do this, it doesn't really last that long. 00:03:01.000 --> 00:03:03.000 Anybody gone to the gym and said, I'm going to get fit. 00:03:03.000 --> 00:03:05.000 I'm going to go to the gym. 00:03:05.000 --> 00:03:06.000 And a month in you're like, this doesn't work. 00:03:06.000 --> 00:03:07.000 This is not fun anymore. 00:03:07.000 --> 00:03:09.000 It kind of happens to me. 00:03:09.000 --> 00:03:11.000 That's why I don't have big muscles. 00:03:11.000 --> 00:03:14.000 Because it just doesn't work for me. 00:03:14.000 --> 00:03:17.000 So how do we go straight, number one, religion kicks in. 00:03:17.000 --> 00:03:19.000 Number two is we accept a gospel. 00:03:19.000 --> 00:03:22.000 We start to accept a gospel with no power. 00:03:22.000 --> 00:03:24.000 And we start to hear that these days. 00:03:24.000 --> 00:03:27.000 We accept a gospel with no power. 00:03:27.000 --> 00:03:29.000 That's when we go straight. 00:03:29.000 --> 00:03:35.000 Number three for me is we normalize the gospel to mere principles and teachings. 00:03:35.000 --> 00:03:39.000 Go for it, yeah. 00:03:39.000 --> 00:03:47.000 Can you explain number two when you said we have a gospel without power? 00:03:47.000 --> 00:03:53.000 So I think it looks like that we're preaching a gospel where we teach the kingdom, 00:03:53.000 --> 00:03:59.000 but we're not always teaching the people around us about the gospel of the good news. 00:03:59.000 --> 00:04:02.000 Because when Christ takes over our lives, 00:04:02.000 --> 00:04:05.000 there's something that shifts, man. 00:04:05.000 --> 00:04:11.000 It's like the day when Christ entered me and when I surrendered, something shifted. 00:04:11.000 --> 00:04:17.000 And I think what I'm seeing is that the gospel these days is without power, 00:04:17.000 --> 00:04:20.000 but it's just the slight confession. 00:04:20.000 --> 00:04:22.000 Just try and do the right things for Christ. 00:04:22.000 --> 00:04:25.000 I'm not saying here, I'm going, this is what's happening, 00:04:25.000 --> 00:04:29.000 and we got to combat that with the power of God. 00:04:29.000 --> 00:04:30.000 There's good teaching. 00:04:30.000 --> 00:04:34.000 We need good teaching, but we need the power as well. 00:04:34.000 --> 00:04:40.000 So the third one was we normalize the gospel to mere principles and teachings. 00:04:40.000 --> 00:04:45.000 Does that mean that you're teaching the gospel with your self-expectations? 00:04:45.000 --> 00:04:48.000 You're expecting something out of that without the power? 00:04:48.000 --> 00:04:51.000 Could be, yeah. 00:04:51.000 --> 00:04:54.000 You're teaching it out of a place where you've come from. 00:04:54.000 --> 00:04:56.000 You're expecting something. 00:04:56.000 --> 00:04:58.000 And we've got to go back to Acts. 00:04:58.000 --> 00:05:00.000 I'm going to read some scripture for us. 00:05:00.000 --> 00:05:02.000 I don't want us to take it back to our church experience. 00:05:02.000 --> 00:05:05.000 I want to take us back today to what scripture says. 00:05:05.000 --> 00:05:08.000 So I'm going to be sharing some scriptures in a few seconds. 00:05:08.000 --> 00:05:11.000 Because we've got to take it back to when the gospel started, 00:05:11.000 --> 00:05:15.000 when the power of the Holy Spirit arrived, what were some of the effects? 00:05:15.000 --> 00:05:21.000 We've got some traditions we need to let go of, and we have to adopt what scripture says. 00:05:21.000 --> 00:05:28.000 So number four is 1 Corinthians 6 verse 17. 00:05:28.000 --> 00:05:30.000 Listen to this. 00:05:30.000 --> 00:05:32.000 This is so powerful for me. 00:05:32.000 --> 00:05:40.000 It says, But whoever is united with the Lord is one with him in spirit. 00:05:40.000 --> 00:05:42.000 Can I say that again? 00:05:42.000 --> 00:05:45.000 So when we got born again, 1 Corinthians 6 verse 17 says, 00:05:45.000 --> 00:05:51.000 But whoever is united with the Lord is one spirit with him. 00:05:51.000 --> 00:05:54.000 Oh, come on. 00:05:54.000 --> 00:05:59.000 Another portion, I think it's the message or the passion translation says, 00:05:59.000 --> 00:06:03.000 My spirit and Yahweh's spirit become one. 00:06:03.000 --> 00:06:08.000 That just, we've got to start experiencing that. 00:06:08.000 --> 00:06:11.000 I'm not trying to get there. 00:06:11.000 --> 00:06:17.000 I am there, but my mind needs to start realizing that my spirit and Yahweh's spirit is now intertwined. 00:06:17.000 --> 00:06:19.000 It's one. 00:06:19.000 --> 00:06:21.000 And this is what we need to start realizing. 00:06:21.000 --> 00:06:23.000 This is the power of the gospel. 00:06:23.000 --> 00:06:28.000 We go astray when that is not a reality in our lives. 00:06:28.000 --> 00:06:32.000 So in the kingdom, I'm going to try and write this. 00:06:32.000 --> 00:06:35.000 I'm not great at writing, but let me try. 00:06:35.000 --> 00:06:44.000 In the kingdom, there is a political system. 00:06:44.000 --> 00:06:47.000 All right, so I love the kingdom of God. 00:06:47.000 --> 00:06:53.000 I absolutely love the kingdom of God because it brings answers to every single aspect of society. 00:06:53.000 --> 00:06:55.000 So in the kingdom, there's a presence of God. 00:06:55.000 --> 00:07:01.000 There's a political system and it's called the kingdom, the king, and he's a monarch. 00:07:01.000 --> 00:07:04.000 There's no capitalism, socialism in the kingdom of God. 00:07:04.000 --> 00:07:06.000 There's a king. 00:07:06.000 --> 00:07:08.000 So there's a political system. 00:07:08.000 --> 00:07:13.000 There's a health system. 00:07:13.000 --> 00:07:14.000 There's a health system. 00:07:14.000 --> 00:07:18.000 And the health system is called, anybody want to take a guess? 00:07:18.000 --> 00:07:19.000 Healing. 00:07:19.000 --> 00:07:21.000 It's Christ's blood. 00:07:21.000 --> 00:07:26.000 He's dealt with, he's got a hospital system, a health system in the kingdom. 00:07:26.000 --> 00:07:32.000 The next, there's an educational system. 00:07:32.000 --> 00:07:37.000 And it's called the church and it's called Ephesians 4. 00:07:37.000 --> 00:07:42.000 Train up the saints, equip the saints for their work of ministry. 00:07:42.000 --> 00:07:45.000 He's got an educational system that's very different to the world system. 00:07:45.000 --> 00:07:51.000 There's a security system. 00:07:51.000 --> 00:07:56.000 The security system is called the angels of heaven. 00:07:56.000 --> 00:08:00.000 I don't know if you've been in any place where your life has been a danger, 00:08:00.000 --> 00:08:06.000 but there's a security system and we know how to operate and how to tap into all of these. 00:08:06.000 --> 00:08:07.000 This is like a government. 00:08:07.000 --> 00:08:10.000 It's called the government of the kingdom. 00:08:10.000 --> 00:08:11.000 There's a security system. 00:08:11.000 --> 00:08:16.000 There's a financial system. 00:08:16.000 --> 00:08:18.000 There's a financial system. 00:08:18.000 --> 00:08:24.000 And Jacob's been teaching on that the last couple of weeks about how do we access the financial system. 00:08:24.000 --> 00:08:28.000 And when we obey those principles, we're accessing that. 00:08:28.000 --> 00:08:29.000 It's very simple. 00:08:29.000 --> 00:08:34.000 Next is there's a social system. 00:08:34.000 --> 00:08:36.000 A social system. 00:08:36.000 --> 00:08:41.000 And that's called family and marriage. 00:08:41.000 --> 00:08:46.000 When you start applying the family of God, when you start applying the principles of the family of God, 00:08:46.000 --> 00:08:48.000 then the social system starts to work. 00:08:48.000 --> 00:08:50.000 And so this is the kingdom of God. 00:08:50.000 --> 00:08:51.000 I absolutely love it. 00:08:51.000 --> 00:08:52.000 And it works. 00:08:52.000 --> 00:08:54.000 It works so well. 00:08:54.000 --> 00:08:57.000 Imagine if our governments would start to apply some of these things. 00:08:57.000 --> 00:09:03.000 But the last aspect which I want to touch on today is there's a power system. 00:09:03.000 --> 00:09:05.000 A power system. 00:09:05.000 --> 00:09:09.000 And without the power system, we're going to start struggling to operate in this. 00:09:09.000 --> 00:09:14.000 And the power system is the Holy Spirit. 00:09:14.000 --> 00:09:18.000 It's the Holy Spirit. 00:09:18.000 --> 00:09:25.000 So when we start talking about power, we have to ask ourselves the question, what is the purpose of power? 00:09:25.000 --> 00:09:27.000 What is the purpose of power? 00:09:27.000 --> 00:09:31.000 So there's power in this room right now, correct? 00:09:31.000 --> 00:09:32.000 There's power. 00:09:32.000 --> 00:09:34.000 Some of the power is running in the walls. 00:09:34.000 --> 00:09:35.000 Some of it's running in the roof. 00:09:35.000 --> 00:09:37.000 It's coming down to the light bulbs. 00:09:37.000 --> 00:09:40.000 And BC is, thank goodness, has got the power on. 00:09:40.000 --> 00:09:43.000 Otherwise, we'd all be getting very cold and living darkness. 00:09:43.000 --> 00:09:46.000 And I know all about that, where I'm from. 00:09:46.000 --> 00:09:48.000 And so there's a power system. 00:09:48.000 --> 00:09:50.000 And every government needs a power system. 00:09:50.000 --> 00:09:53.000 And so does the kingdom of God have a power system. 00:09:53.000 --> 00:10:01.000 And when we try and live out these things without the power of God, it becomes the religious dead works. 00:10:01.000 --> 00:10:03.000 It's good. 00:10:03.000 --> 00:10:04.000 It's good. 00:10:04.000 --> 00:10:08.000 But we miss that finesse, if I can say that. 00:10:08.000 --> 00:10:12.000 We miss something that's actually empowering all of this to work. 00:10:12.000 --> 00:10:14.000 And it is the Holy Spirit. 00:10:14.000 --> 00:10:17.000 So what's the purpose of power? 00:10:17.000 --> 00:10:18.000 Number one, it's not. 00:10:18.000 --> 00:10:20.000 It's not to show off. 00:10:20.000 --> 00:10:21.000 All right, very simple. 00:10:21.000 --> 00:10:25.000 The purpose of the Holy Spirit is not to show off. 00:10:25.000 --> 00:10:27.000 For me, I've got four reasons here. 00:10:27.000 --> 00:10:31.000 The purpose of the power, and this is what Dawn actually started off with, 00:10:31.000 --> 00:10:39.000 it's to rescue men and women that are in your life from hell and introduce them to the king and his kingdom. 00:10:39.000 --> 00:10:41.000 Can I say that again? 00:10:41.000 --> 00:10:48.000 The purpose of power, number one, is to rescue people in your life from hell 00:10:48.000 --> 00:10:54.000 and introduce them to the king and his kingdom. 00:10:54.000 --> 00:10:56.000 It's really simple. 00:10:56.000 --> 00:10:58.000 And people need rescuing. 00:10:58.000 --> 00:11:02.000 But people don't need arguments. 00:11:02.000 --> 00:11:08.000 Have you ever tried to talk to someone about Jesus and you get stuck in an argument? 00:11:08.000 --> 00:11:10.000 Yeah, it's the worst thing. 00:11:10.000 --> 00:11:11.000 It's the worst thing. 00:11:11.000 --> 00:11:13.000 Can I tell you a little testimony? 00:11:13.000 --> 00:11:15.000 It's not really a testimony, but I had to stop it very quickly. 00:11:15.000 --> 00:11:22.000 We went to do some shopping two weeks ago, and outside the shop, there's an old lady bent over. 00:11:22.000 --> 00:11:24.000 Did I tell you guys this? 00:11:24.000 --> 00:11:25.000 No. 00:11:25.000 --> 00:11:29.000 There's an old lady bent over walking with those walkers. 00:11:29.000 --> 00:11:31.000 I don't know what you call them. 00:11:31.000 --> 00:11:32.000 Yes, that's why I'm looking for words. 00:11:32.000 --> 00:11:35.000 If I miss the word, just shout it out and it's going to help me. 00:11:35.000 --> 00:11:38.000 And I like, yes, an opportunity. 00:11:38.000 --> 00:11:40.000 So my family is there, my kids are there. 00:11:40.000 --> 00:11:43.000 As we get to the entrance of the shop, there's a little bench there, so she sits down. 00:11:43.000 --> 00:11:44.000 I'm like, thank you, Jesus. 00:11:44.000 --> 00:11:46.000 This is going to be easier. 00:11:46.000 --> 00:11:50.000 So they go in and I'm standing there like, hey, are you in pain? 00:11:50.000 --> 00:11:51.000 And she said, yes. 00:11:51.000 --> 00:11:52.000 I said, can I pray for you? 00:11:52.000 --> 00:11:55.000 And she says, it's not going to help. 00:11:55.000 --> 00:11:57.000 So I'm like, oh my gosh. 00:11:57.000 --> 00:11:59.000 But boom, she just hit me out the park already. 00:11:59.000 --> 00:12:01.000 And I just came back and I said, you know what? 00:12:01.000 --> 00:12:03.000 I know Jesus and I've seen miracles. 00:12:03.000 --> 00:12:05.000 I've seen his power heal. 00:12:05.000 --> 00:12:07.000 I said, can I please pray for you? 00:12:07.000 --> 00:12:10.000 She says, no, it's not going to help. 00:12:10.000 --> 00:12:11.000 So I'm like, oh, shucks. 00:12:11.000 --> 00:12:13.000 So I just stayed pressing in. 00:12:13.000 --> 00:12:15.000 And so I said, what's your name? 00:12:15.000 --> 00:12:17.000 She says, why do you want to know? 00:12:17.000 --> 00:12:22.000 I'm like, this is getting worse, Paul. 00:12:22.000 --> 00:12:28.000 And so as I try to convince her, it got worse. 00:12:28.000 --> 00:12:29.000 She needed the power of God. 00:12:29.000 --> 00:12:32.000 Now she just totally rejected me, battered me up. 00:12:32.000 --> 00:12:33.000 And I just said, you know what? 00:12:33.000 --> 00:12:36.000 The Father loves you and I'm still going to pray for you for healing. 00:12:36.000 --> 00:12:39.000 I walked into the shop and I prayed because I realized I was intruding 00:12:39.000 --> 00:12:42.000 in some way where she didn't want anything. 00:12:42.000 --> 00:12:45.000 But this is what happens is sometimes when we try and convince people 00:12:45.000 --> 00:12:51.000 with what we know and we're lacking power, we go to our mental place. 00:12:51.000 --> 00:12:54.000 And when we see an act, it's a little different. 00:12:54.000 --> 00:12:56.000 It's a little different. 00:12:56.000 --> 00:12:59.000 And this is where I believe the Lord wants to take us to. 00:12:59.000 --> 00:13:03.000 Number two, the reason for the purpose for power is to live a life 00:13:03.000 --> 00:13:07.000 that overcomes the enemy and subdues. 00:13:07.000 --> 00:13:12.000 We need to live a life that overcomes the enemy and subdues him. 00:13:12.000 --> 00:13:17.000 Number three, we need to walk and live in the authority, 00:13:17.000 --> 00:13:20.000 mandate and permission that Christ has given us. 00:13:20.000 --> 00:13:22.000 We need to walk and live in it. 00:13:22.000 --> 00:13:28.000 In the authority, in the mandate and the permission that Christ has given us. 00:13:28.000 --> 00:13:30.000 And you need power to walk in that, guys. 00:13:30.000 --> 00:13:36.000 Do not think you can walk in that through mere willpower. 00:13:36.000 --> 00:13:39.000 It doesn't last. You need a force. 00:13:39.000 --> 00:13:43.000 You need an energy that's strengthening you to go through those times 00:13:43.000 --> 00:13:45.000 when you want to give up. 00:13:45.000 --> 00:13:51.000 And the fourth reason for power for me is to show the world a true and living God. 00:13:51.000 --> 00:13:54.000 You need to show the world a true and living God. 00:13:54.000 --> 00:13:59.000 If it's miracles on the street, if it's your ability to say no to things, 00:13:59.000 --> 00:14:04.000 we need to show the world that he lives. 00:14:04.000 --> 00:14:07.000 So here's the challenge with this Holy Spirit and with this power, 00:14:07.000 --> 00:14:10.000 is that it's really a heart thing. 00:14:10.000 --> 00:14:14.000 It's a heart thing. It's not a mental thing. 00:14:14.000 --> 00:14:18.000 And this is why the challenge is to talk about this, 00:14:18.000 --> 00:14:22.000 is that it could go in here and it stays in here, 00:14:22.000 --> 00:14:24.000 but when we're not practicing this, 00:14:24.000 --> 00:14:29.000 the enemy actually can steal the power of that word in our hearts, in our minds, 00:14:29.000 --> 00:14:31.000 and then it becomes mere knowledge. 00:14:31.000 --> 00:14:33.000 Yeah, we know about the power of God. 00:14:33.000 --> 00:14:35.000 It's like, yeah, we know about the love of God. 00:14:35.000 --> 00:14:37.000 Those things are not to be known. 00:14:37.000 --> 00:14:41.000 Those things are meant to be experienced. 00:14:41.000 --> 00:14:45.000 You know what? To preach to Christians the love of God is one of the most difficult things. 00:14:45.000 --> 00:14:49.000 Why? Because we all say we know it. 00:14:49.000 --> 00:14:52.000 We know it. But there must be an experience. 00:14:52.000 --> 00:14:56.000 And today I want to talk about the experience, the experience in our hearts. 00:15:03.000 --> 00:15:06.000 We all have gifts, correct? 00:15:06.000 --> 00:15:09.000 1 Corinthians 12 tells us we've been given a gift. 00:15:09.000 --> 00:15:12.000 Your gifts are a little bit different. 00:15:12.000 --> 00:15:16.000 Everyone operates in different gifts and these are spiritual gifts. 00:15:16.000 --> 00:15:18.000 So we need to discover what these spiritual gifts are, 00:15:18.000 --> 00:15:20.000 and then we need to steward these spiritual gifts. 00:15:20.000 --> 00:15:24.000 In Matthew 25, Jesus tells about the talents, the gifts that we're given. 00:15:24.000 --> 00:15:27.000 So when we steward these gifts well, 00:15:27.000 --> 00:15:29.000 we get to hear the praise of Jesus to say, 00:15:29.000 --> 00:15:32.000 well done, good and faithful servant. 00:15:32.000 --> 00:15:34.000 So we've got being given gifts, 00:15:34.000 --> 00:15:38.000 and these gifts are super important for the power of God to flow through. 00:15:38.000 --> 00:15:42.000 This morning we saw a bit of gifts operating. 00:15:42.000 --> 00:15:46.000 Your teaching ability, your ability to discern, 00:15:46.000 --> 00:15:52.000 your ability to prophesy is the gifts of Christ that are working in and through you. 00:15:52.000 --> 00:15:58.000 And as much as we enjoy that here, the world needs to get to see these gifts. 00:15:58.000 --> 00:16:02.000 And these are gifts that are given to us by Christ. 00:16:02.000 --> 00:16:04.000 So we have these gifts, 00:16:04.000 --> 00:16:11.000 but fear will keep you back from operating in your gift. 00:16:11.000 --> 00:16:16.000 Fear will keep you back from operating in the very gift that God has given you. 00:16:16.000 --> 00:16:20.000 And guess what? God's not going to give you a gift 00:16:20.000 --> 00:16:25.000 that doesn't align with your personality and your destiny. 00:16:25.000 --> 00:16:29.000 I'm thinking like Chiara is in Los Angeles the weekend, 00:16:29.000 --> 00:16:32.000 and she left me with the three girls. 00:16:32.000 --> 00:16:34.000 Praise Jesus, you know. 00:16:34.000 --> 00:16:37.000 I have made it this far. Thank you, Jesus. Hallelujah. 00:17:14.000 --> 00:17:18.000 But there's different gifts that just come natural, 00:17:18.000 --> 00:17:22.000 and you've got gifts, but I need to steward those gifts. 00:17:22.000 --> 00:17:24.000 But fear will keep you away from that. 00:17:24.000 --> 00:17:27.000 Number two, that I'm just thinking of, fear is an indicator. 00:17:27.000 --> 00:17:30.000 You've got to see fear as an indicator. 00:17:30.000 --> 00:17:34.000 It's like, you know when you're driving your car and a red light goes on? 00:17:34.000 --> 00:17:36.000 What's the red light? 00:17:36.000 --> 00:17:39.000 Indicator, something is going wrong, 00:17:39.000 --> 00:17:43.000 and if you don't address it, it's going to get worse. 00:17:43.000 --> 00:17:46.000 So deal with it as quick as possible. Fear is an indicator. 00:17:46.000 --> 00:17:51.000 It shows you there are areas in your life 00:17:51.000 --> 00:17:59.000 where the love of God and the spirit of God has not permeated. 00:17:59.000 --> 00:18:03.000 Can I say that again? 00:18:03.000 --> 00:18:05.000 Fear is an indicator. 00:18:05.000 --> 00:18:08.000 It shows you where the love of God and the spirit of God 00:18:08.000 --> 00:18:10.000 has not permeated that area. 00:18:10.000 --> 00:18:16.000 Because why? Because love casts out all fear in every area. 00:18:16.000 --> 00:18:19.000 And so when fear arises, I've got to be sharp and quick to go, 00:18:19.000 --> 00:18:22.000 hold on, this area of my life, what is this? 00:18:22.000 --> 00:18:26.000 And I need to deal with it so that the life and the spirit of God 00:18:26.000 --> 00:18:29.000 can permeate that area, freedom can come, 00:18:29.000 --> 00:18:32.000 and all of a sudden, it starts blossoming. 00:18:32.000 --> 00:18:34.000 And then the power of God starts working in that. 00:18:34.000 --> 00:18:37.000 Does it make sense? 00:18:37.000 --> 00:18:42.000 So in the Kingdom of God, we should only be driven by two aspects. 00:18:42.000 --> 00:18:45.000 Two things should motivate us in the Kingdom of God. 00:18:45.000 --> 00:18:48.000 Number one, the love of God compels us. 00:18:48.000 --> 00:18:51.000 And number two, the spirit of God compels us. 00:18:51.000 --> 00:18:55.000 Those are the only two indicators that should move us in the Kingdom of God. 00:18:55.000 --> 00:18:59.000 There should be no other reason why we are compelled to do what we do 00:18:59.000 --> 00:19:04.000 in the Kingdom, except for those two things. 00:19:04.000 --> 00:19:07.000 So if you've got your Bibles here, you can just take notes. 00:19:07.000 --> 00:19:12.000 Luke 24, verse 49. Jesus is busy teaching. 00:19:15.000 --> 00:19:18.000 Luke 24, verse 49. 00:19:21.000 --> 00:19:28.000 So guys, without the Holy Spirit active in our lives, 00:19:28.000 --> 00:19:32.000 listen carefully, without the Holy Spirit active in our lives, 00:19:32.000 --> 00:19:37.000 all that we become are visitors in the Kingdom. 00:19:37.000 --> 00:19:44.000 We're only visitors when we are not allowing the power of the Holy Spirit to work in us. 00:19:44.000 --> 00:19:49.000 We remain visitors, and we don't step into that place of friends of God. 00:19:49.000 --> 00:19:53.000 Yeah? Does He love us? Absolutely. Is He for us? Yes. 00:19:53.000 --> 00:19:55.000 Are we sons and daughters of God? Yes. 00:19:55.000 --> 00:20:01.000 But there must be an element of the power of God working in us 00:20:01.000 --> 00:20:03.000 and through us to those around us. 00:20:03.000 --> 00:20:06.000 And I'm going to share with us what does that look like. 00:20:06.000 --> 00:20:11.000 Because I always want to say, I always ask myself, how does this look in my life? 00:20:11.000 --> 00:20:15.000 How can I practice this in my life? Yeah? 00:20:15.000 --> 00:20:19.000 So Luke 24, verse 49 says, and this is Jesus talking. 00:20:19.000 --> 00:20:25.000 He says, and behold, I am sending forth the promise of my Father. 00:20:25.000 --> 00:20:30.000 This is interesting. He says, there's a promise that's been waiting in heaven, 00:20:30.000 --> 00:20:37.000 I'm sending forth this promise of my Father upon you. 00:20:37.000 --> 00:20:47.000 But you are to stay in the city until you are clothed with singing from on high. 00:20:47.000 --> 00:20:56.000 Or you are to stay in this building until you are clothed with reading from on high. 00:20:56.000 --> 00:20:59.000 Or studying from on high. No, the scripture doesn't say that. 00:20:59.000 --> 00:21:07.000 The scripture says, you're to stay in this place until you are clothed with power from on high. 00:21:07.000 --> 00:21:10.000 So from the word go, Jesus telling his disciples, 00:21:10.000 --> 00:21:14.000 hey listen, I'm preparing you, you're going to start waiting soon. 00:21:14.000 --> 00:21:16.000 But something is going to come upon you. 00:21:16.000 --> 00:21:24.000 And this one thing that's going to come upon you is power. 00:21:24.000 --> 00:21:33.000 And I feel like we've sold ourselves short of the power of God through beliefs or experiences that we've maybe had in the past. 00:21:33.000 --> 00:21:37.000 And today I want to awaken. I just want to awaken a desire in you. 00:21:37.000 --> 00:21:45.000 If that's all that happens today is to awaken a desire in you to say, hold on, where is my power? 00:21:45.000 --> 00:21:52.000 That stuff that you have for me, God, where is it that I can start working because I must desire it? 00:21:52.000 --> 00:21:56.000 And I want to awaken a desire in you to start saying, where is my stuff? 00:21:56.000 --> 00:22:03.000 Where is the power, the promise of the Father that wasn't just given 2000 years ago, it was given for today. 00:22:03.000 --> 00:22:07.000 It's as relevant today as it was there and it is for you. 00:22:07.000 --> 00:22:09.000 And can I just tell you what? 00:22:09.000 --> 00:22:16.000 Your character has got nothing to do with the qualification for that power. 00:22:16.000 --> 00:22:19.000 I know it messes with us. 00:22:19.000 --> 00:22:22.000 You know how messed up the 12 disciples were? 00:22:22.000 --> 00:22:29.000 They were still fighting and jealous and cursing and leaving and deserting Jesus. 00:22:29.000 --> 00:22:35.000 And Jesus says, yes, I'm power. Go into go two by two and go and go and heal the sick. 00:22:35.000 --> 00:22:39.000 And these these 12 guys were messed up. 00:22:39.000 --> 00:22:43.000 And so their character was there was not the qualification for the power. 00:22:43.000 --> 00:22:47.000 It was their ability to receive it and to believe it. 00:22:47.000 --> 00:22:50.000 Come on. Listen, I'm all for character. 00:22:50.000 --> 00:22:53.000 I am all for character. 00:22:53.000 --> 00:22:55.000 We're not just look operate on the gift. 00:22:55.000 --> 00:22:56.000 We operate on character. 00:22:56.000 --> 00:23:02.000 But can I just can I just entice you to say, where is my power that God has promised me? 00:23:02.000 --> 00:23:08.000 So Act one eight says, but I promise you this. 00:23:08.000 --> 00:23:10.000 I promise you this man. 00:23:10.000 --> 00:23:12.000 Jesus wasn't just saying, hey, I've got this. 00:23:12.000 --> 00:23:13.000 He says, I promise you this. 00:23:13.000 --> 00:23:20.000 The Holy Spirit will come upon you and you will be seized with power. 00:23:20.000 --> 00:23:25.000 You'll be seized with power. 00:23:25.000 --> 00:23:26.000 Now, you know what the challenge is? 00:23:26.000 --> 00:23:33.000 And I realize this the other day is when we talk about this in acts to when you start reading the stories in acts, 00:23:33.000 --> 00:23:39.000 the way that we see this is we try and teach these things. 00:23:39.000 --> 00:23:43.000 And then we're hoping for an experience or an encounter. 00:23:43.000 --> 00:23:47.000 We teach and we say, can we experience some of these things in our life? 00:23:47.000 --> 00:23:49.000 What we've been taught? 00:23:49.000 --> 00:24:00.000 Can I just show you how it actually worked in scripture from acts every time men or women of God were touched by the power of the Holy Spirit? 00:24:00.000 --> 00:24:05.000 They'd experience something and then they try and figure it out. 00:24:05.000 --> 00:24:07.000 The outpouring of the Holy Spirit. 00:24:07.000 --> 00:24:08.000 Peter and them are touched. 00:24:08.000 --> 00:24:10.000 Peter's like, man, what's going on? 00:24:10.000 --> 00:24:11.000 We're full of fire, full of power. 00:24:11.000 --> 00:24:13.000 We're speaking in weird tongues. 00:24:13.000 --> 00:24:17.000 Peter steps out and now he starts preaching from Joel. 00:24:17.000 --> 00:24:21.000 He's not saying this is what God promised. 00:24:21.000 --> 00:24:27.000 So because of our intellectual state, we try and teach it and then try and experience it in the word. 00:24:27.000 --> 00:24:31.000 They experience the power and then they try to figure it out. 00:24:31.000 --> 00:24:33.000 And can I just submit to us? 00:24:33.000 --> 00:24:37.000 Can we let go of the limitations that we've placed on the Holy Spirit? 00:24:37.000 --> 00:24:40.000 Can we let go of how we think he should come? 00:24:40.000 --> 00:24:43.000 Let me just imagine, imagine this. 00:24:43.000 --> 00:24:48.000 Imagine the power of the God hits us right now and it looks ugly. 00:24:48.000 --> 00:24:52.000 Because I've never really experienced it looks really pretty. 00:24:52.000 --> 00:24:54.000 And we're saying, what's going on here? 00:24:54.000 --> 00:24:56.000 Like, what is this? 00:24:56.000 --> 00:24:59.000 Like, I don't know. 00:24:59.000 --> 00:25:08.000 And then we try and figure it out afterwards instead of trying to presume how we want the Holy Spirit to fit into our little comfort boxes of power. 00:25:08.000 --> 00:25:09.000 And that is the yielding. 00:25:09.000 --> 00:25:10.000 That is the surrendering. 00:25:10.000 --> 00:25:13.000 That's saying, God, I'm yielding and surrendering. 00:25:13.000 --> 00:25:17.000 Please touch me, fill me up. 00:25:17.000 --> 00:25:19.000 This is how it happens in the word. 00:25:19.000 --> 00:25:24.000 There's a total surrender and yieldedness to what God wants to do. 00:25:24.000 --> 00:25:29.000 So there's three aspects to this power. 00:25:29.000 --> 00:25:32.000 The power touches your soul. 00:25:32.000 --> 00:25:35.000 The power touches your character. 00:25:35.000 --> 00:25:38.000 And then the power touches your spirit. 00:25:38.000 --> 00:25:44.000 So this soulish power, this character power, and then there is spirit power. 00:25:44.000 --> 00:25:47.000 You got those three. 00:25:47.000 --> 00:25:51.000 And we need the power of God in all three aspects, guys. 00:25:51.000 --> 00:25:53.000 Power in our soul, number one. 00:25:53.000 --> 00:25:55.000 Power in our character, number two. 00:25:55.000 --> 00:25:57.000 Power in our spirit. 00:25:57.000 --> 00:26:02.000 So let me touch on soulish power first, because we need this. 00:26:02.000 --> 00:26:04.000 So soulish power. 00:26:04.000 --> 00:26:10.000 When the Holy Spirit touches and infuses us with power, he gives us the ability, number one, to obey him. 00:26:10.000 --> 00:26:13.000 Our soul needs to obey him. 00:26:13.000 --> 00:26:15.000 Yeah. 00:26:15.000 --> 00:26:18.000 And I'll explain the rest later. 00:26:18.000 --> 00:26:19.000 We need to obey him. 00:26:19.000 --> 00:26:26.000 In Ezekiel 36 verse 27 says, it says, I will put my spirit within you and cause you, 00:26:26.000 --> 00:26:31.000 the word says, and cause you to walk in my statutes. 00:26:31.000 --> 00:26:38.000 It says, when you receive the power of the Holy Spirit, there's something working in you to help you to obey. 00:26:38.000 --> 00:26:39.000 In my soul. 00:26:39.000 --> 00:26:44.000 So when in my soul, I don't always want to forgive. 00:26:44.000 --> 00:26:50.000 But when the power of the Holy Spirit is working in me, he gives me the ability to forgive when I don't want to forgive. 00:26:50.000 --> 00:26:53.000 He gives me the ability to serve when I don't want to serve. 00:26:53.000 --> 00:26:59.000 He gives me the ability to not criticize or judge in my soul when I want to do that. 00:26:59.000 --> 00:27:00.000 It's the power to obey. 00:27:00.000 --> 00:27:01.000 Number one. 00:27:01.000 --> 00:27:02.000 Number two. 00:27:02.000 --> 00:27:06.000 It's a power to lay down my life for him. 00:27:06.000 --> 00:27:12.000 My soul needs to lay down to my spirit. 00:27:12.000 --> 00:27:15.000 Number three. 00:27:15.000 --> 00:27:24.000 When the power comes into my soul, he gives me the ability to say yes to certain things and no to certain things. 00:27:24.000 --> 00:27:26.000 Yeah, you got that? 00:27:26.000 --> 00:27:27.000 To say yes. 00:27:27.000 --> 00:27:31.000 So my yes becomes stronger and my no becomes stronger. 00:27:31.000 --> 00:27:34.000 No, we will not do that. 00:27:34.000 --> 00:27:36.000 Yes, we will do this. 00:27:36.000 --> 00:27:39.000 There's a power that works in us. 00:27:39.000 --> 00:27:40.000 Number four. 00:27:40.000 --> 00:27:43.000 He gives me the ability to have self-control. 00:27:43.000 --> 00:27:47.000 That's the work of the spirit inside of my soul. 00:27:47.000 --> 00:27:52.000 Character power looks like the following. 00:27:52.000 --> 00:27:54.000 And this happens in Acts 2. 00:27:54.000 --> 00:28:00.000 Character power is he gives me the ability to have great confidence and great courage. 00:28:00.000 --> 00:28:09.000 One of the things that happen when the Spirit of God comes over us is we grow in boldness and in courage. 00:28:09.000 --> 00:28:16.000 And I believe we need to have greater boldness and courage in these days to stand up for what is right as believers. 00:28:16.000 --> 00:28:18.000 Boldness and courage. 00:28:18.000 --> 00:28:24.000 Number two is in our character we have the ability now to resist the enemy. 00:28:24.000 --> 00:28:25.000 To resist the enemy. 00:28:25.000 --> 00:28:29.000 Because the enemy comes against us and the word says resist the enemy. 00:28:29.000 --> 00:28:32.000 Meaning hold your shield high, resist it. 00:28:32.000 --> 00:28:35.000 This is part of your character that holds, that resists the enemy. 00:28:35.000 --> 00:28:40.000 Number three in this is to flee from temptation. 00:28:40.000 --> 00:28:42.000 It doesn't say fight temptation. 00:28:42.000 --> 00:28:45.000 It says flee from temptation. 00:28:45.000 --> 00:28:48.000 So this is character power that we need. 00:28:48.000 --> 00:28:51.000 And the last one I have here is to have strong convictions. 00:28:51.000 --> 00:28:57.000 To have strong convictions in my character is to say this is who we are as sons and daughters of God. 00:28:57.000 --> 00:28:58.000 We will not do that. 00:28:58.000 --> 00:28:59.000 We are not that. 00:28:59.000 --> 00:29:02.000 We will not have these kind of conversations, whatever. 00:29:02.000 --> 00:29:07.000 I mean I had to have strong convictions last week, Monday. 00:29:07.000 --> 00:29:14.000 When some of my neighbors which were believers were asking us, hey so did you guys enjoy Halloween? 00:29:14.000 --> 00:29:17.000 And I thought I've got an opportunity right here. 00:29:17.000 --> 00:29:21.000 And I said no, we don't celebrate Halloween. 00:29:21.000 --> 00:29:24.000 And this is why we don't celebrate Halloween. 00:29:24.000 --> 00:29:27.000 The guy was like, I don't know if you should swallow or stand back. 00:29:27.000 --> 00:29:28.000 And I didn't judge him. 00:29:28.000 --> 00:29:31.000 I go, I put the truth in front of him because I have a strong conviction. 00:29:31.000 --> 00:29:33.000 I will not celebrate Halloween. 00:29:33.000 --> 00:29:34.000 This is not me. 00:29:34.000 --> 00:29:39.000 This is the spirit of God that works in us to have strong convictions. 00:29:39.000 --> 00:29:40.000 This is not who we are. 00:29:40.000 --> 00:29:41.000 We are sons and daughters of God. 00:29:41.000 --> 00:29:42.000 We look different from the world. 00:29:42.000 --> 00:29:43.000 We act different. 00:29:43.000 --> 00:29:44.000 We spend our money different. 00:29:44.000 --> 00:29:48.000 We do everything different from the world because we're in a kingdom system. 00:29:48.000 --> 00:29:50.000 But we need the power. 00:29:50.000 --> 00:29:53.000 Alright, spirit power. 00:29:53.000 --> 00:29:57.000 This one is also, this is a fun one. 00:29:57.000 --> 00:30:03.000 Spirit power is to heal, set captives free, deliver people from bondage. 00:30:03.000 --> 00:30:05.000 And we know this is Luke 4 verse 18. 00:30:05.000 --> 00:30:10.000 The spirit of the Lord is upon me. 00:30:10.000 --> 00:30:15.000 Not for my sake, for your sake. 00:30:15.000 --> 00:30:16.000 Can I say it again? 00:30:16.000 --> 00:30:21.000 The spirit of the Lord is upon me, not just for my sake, but for others sake. 00:30:21.000 --> 00:30:23.000 For others. 00:30:23.000 --> 00:30:28.000 To heal up the broken wounded, to set the captives free, to deliver them from demonic oppression. 00:30:28.000 --> 00:30:33.000 This is the power of God that works from our spirit. 00:30:33.000 --> 00:30:39.000 Number two, to stand against adversities. 00:30:39.000 --> 00:30:42.000 We need the power of God not to give up, guys. 00:30:42.000 --> 00:30:46.000 We need the power of God to press through those moments where we want to stand still, 00:30:46.000 --> 00:30:48.000 we want to sit down and get comfortable. 00:30:48.000 --> 00:30:50.000 We need the power of God to work in us there. 00:30:50.000 --> 00:30:54.000 And number three, is to break off yokes of others. 00:30:54.000 --> 00:30:56.000 To break off yokes of others. 00:30:56.000 --> 00:30:58.000 So, can I give you an example? 00:30:58.000 --> 00:31:03.000 Can you come stand by me quickly? 00:31:03.000 --> 00:31:07.000 Just keep smiling. 00:31:07.000 --> 00:31:12.000 So, you have a spiritual gift. 00:31:13.000 --> 00:31:22.000 And I think what I sense from him, he has this ability to love and to, there's a warmth about him. 00:31:22.000 --> 00:31:24.000 Okay, that's what I perceive. 00:31:24.000 --> 00:31:27.000 And he's inviting of people. 00:31:27.000 --> 00:31:29.000 So, hospitality could be one of those things. 00:31:29.000 --> 00:31:31.000 But he's a gift to the body of Christ, correct? 00:31:31.000 --> 00:31:33.000 You're a gift to the body of Christ. 00:31:33.000 --> 00:31:36.000 And so, he's like, woohoo, I've got this gift. 00:31:36.000 --> 00:31:39.000 And let's just call him a heater. 00:31:39.000 --> 00:31:41.000 He's a heater. 00:31:41.000 --> 00:31:44.000 Because you feel warm and snuggly when you come around him. 00:31:44.000 --> 00:31:45.000 He's a heater. 00:31:45.000 --> 00:31:48.000 Alright, and so you've got a heater. 00:31:48.000 --> 00:31:52.000 And so, we could say, man, your gift is so powerful, it's so amazing. 00:31:52.000 --> 00:31:55.000 But without the power of the Holy Spirit working inside of him, 00:31:55.000 --> 00:31:57.000 this gift just looks like a heater. 00:31:57.000 --> 00:32:00.000 And this heater means nothing for the world. 00:32:00.000 --> 00:32:07.000 And what he needs to do is, he needs to plug into the force field of the kingdom. 00:32:07.000 --> 00:32:10.000 He needs to plug into the power. 00:32:10.000 --> 00:32:13.000 Can I just say, just stay there? 00:32:13.000 --> 00:32:16.000 Yeah, it is a force field. 00:32:16.000 --> 00:32:18.000 There it is right here. 00:32:18.000 --> 00:32:22.000 BC Hydro is sending this from a couple of miles away, 00:32:22.000 --> 00:32:25.000 coming through these walls, however it gets here. 00:32:25.000 --> 00:32:29.000 I know we've got a little electrician over there that can help us out with that. 00:32:29.000 --> 00:32:31.000 But yeah, it's a force field. 00:32:31.000 --> 00:32:35.000 And what needs to happen is, you need to be able to put your fingers in this plug. 00:32:35.000 --> 00:32:38.000 And I bet you, when you put your fingers in this plug, 00:32:39.000 --> 00:32:43.000 you're going to have a story to tell. 00:32:43.000 --> 00:32:45.000 And so, it's fearful. 00:32:45.000 --> 00:32:48.000 You're like, man, this thing is going to shock me like this. 00:32:48.000 --> 00:32:50.000 Who's ready to catch me? 00:32:50.000 --> 00:32:53.000 There's a force field right here. 00:32:53.000 --> 00:32:58.000 But for this TV to work, for a heater to work, you need to put it in here. 00:32:58.000 --> 00:33:01.000 And we're not really after the heater. 00:33:01.000 --> 00:33:04.000 We're after the effects of the heater. 00:33:04.000 --> 00:33:08.000 We want to feel the heat coming from Him. 00:33:08.000 --> 00:33:10.000 It doesn't make sense. 00:33:10.000 --> 00:33:12.000 I'm not really interested in the TV. 00:33:12.000 --> 00:33:15.000 I want to see what the effects of the TV are. 00:33:15.000 --> 00:33:19.000 But for that to work, it needs to be plugged into the force field. 00:33:19.000 --> 00:33:24.000 And so, if we come around Him, and He is plugged into the power of the Holy Spirit 00:33:24.000 --> 00:33:31.000 that's generating Him, we get to feel the heat and the love and the acceptance from our brother. 00:33:31.000 --> 00:33:33.000 Exactly. 00:33:33.000 --> 00:33:35.000 I don't care what gift you got. 00:33:35.000 --> 00:33:37.000 I don't want to look at a wonderful heater. 00:33:37.000 --> 00:33:38.000 You're such a nice heater. 00:33:38.000 --> 00:33:44.000 No, I am feeling something coming off this man, which is changing my life. 00:33:44.000 --> 00:33:47.000 Thank you. Thanks. 00:33:47.000 --> 00:33:49.000 This is what God calls us for. 00:33:49.000 --> 00:33:50.000 But guess what? 00:33:50.000 --> 00:33:53.000 As much as there is a force field coming out that wall, 00:33:53.000 --> 00:33:58.000 can I just say there is a force field of the power of God here right now. 00:33:58.000 --> 00:34:03.000 There is a force field all around it, and it's called the spiritual atmosphere. 00:34:03.000 --> 00:34:05.000 It's called the working of the Holy Spirit. 00:34:05.000 --> 00:34:06.000 He's not far away. 00:34:06.000 --> 00:34:09.000 He's not being generated by some BC Hydro. 00:34:09.000 --> 00:34:11.000 He is made by God. 00:34:11.000 --> 00:34:14.000 He is God, and He is all around us. 00:34:14.000 --> 00:34:21.000 But I can tell you what, if we ignore the Holy Spirit, we are visitors to the Kingdom. 00:34:21.000 --> 00:34:23.000 All we do is we are there. 00:34:23.000 --> 00:34:29.000 But we need to put our fingers into the force field of the Kingdom, into the power, 00:34:29.000 --> 00:34:32.000 and something starts shifting inside of us. 00:34:32.000 --> 00:34:33.000 He makes us come alive. 00:34:33.000 --> 00:34:37.000 He gives us the ability to do these things. 00:34:37.000 --> 00:34:40.000 And sometimes, I don't know what that looks like for you. 00:34:40.000 --> 00:34:41.000 I know what it looks like for me. 00:34:41.000 --> 00:34:45.000 I remember times where I encountered the Holy Spirit in such a powerful way, 00:34:45.000 --> 00:34:46.000 and I don't want to call it Pentecost. 00:34:46.000 --> 00:34:48.000 I don't want to call it charismatic. 00:34:48.000 --> 00:34:50.000 I want to call it this is what happened in the Word. 00:34:50.000 --> 00:34:53.000 Men and women's lives were touched when the power of the Holy Spirit came on them. 00:34:53.000 --> 00:34:54.000 There was fire on their heads. 00:34:54.000 --> 00:34:56.000 Something shifted in them. 00:34:56.000 --> 00:35:01.000 Guys, something shifted in these people when we read Scripture, and it kept happening. 00:35:01.000 --> 00:35:03.000 You know what? And when it happened to Paul, 00:35:03.000 --> 00:35:06.000 Paul got knocked off his horse or donkey or whatever, blind for two days. 00:35:06.000 --> 00:35:08.000 Boom, something shifted in his life. 00:35:08.000 --> 00:35:11.000 It wasn't just a trying to serve God. 00:35:11.000 --> 00:35:14.000 It was a going, God, touch me. 00:35:14.000 --> 00:35:17.000 And when that shift in his life, guess what happened? 00:35:17.000 --> 00:35:20.000 In Acts 17, I think it's on the road to Emmaus, 00:35:20.000 --> 00:35:24.000 he meets two disciples who were baptized by John. 00:35:24.000 --> 00:35:26.000 And he said to them, have you guys been baptized in the Holy Spirit? 00:35:26.000 --> 00:35:28.000 And they said, we don't know what that is. 00:35:28.000 --> 00:35:29.000 You guys know the stories. 00:35:29.000 --> 00:35:30.000 You guys have been taught well. 00:35:30.000 --> 00:35:35.000 So what Paul got to receive, he then says, let me lay my hands on you. 00:35:35.000 --> 00:35:37.000 He lays his hands on them. 00:35:37.000 --> 00:35:39.000 They received what he got. 00:35:39.000 --> 00:35:45.000 You will only give what you have received. 00:35:45.000 --> 00:35:50.000 To the measure of power that you have received, to that measure, you'll be able to give. 00:35:50.000 --> 00:35:54.000 And I know there's a desire in this church for the miraculous. 00:35:54.000 --> 00:35:55.000 We hear it every Sunday. 00:35:55.000 --> 00:35:57.000 We hear it in people's hearts. 00:35:57.000 --> 00:35:59.000 There's a desire for science, wonders, and miracles. 00:35:59.000 --> 00:36:05.000 There's a desire to travel the earth, but it needs an infusion of the Holy Spirit. 00:36:05.000 --> 00:36:10.000 And to try and do those things without that, it's going to be tiring. 00:36:10.000 --> 00:36:12.000 And I want to place a desire in you. 00:36:12.000 --> 00:36:19.000 I remember, guys, in my life, where I met the Holy Spirit and where he touched me on a number of occasions, 00:36:19.000 --> 00:36:26.000 I can take you to the specific area in that room. 00:36:26.000 --> 00:36:29.000 I can take you to moments. 00:36:29.000 --> 00:36:34.000 It's like when the Holy Spirit touches you, everything shifts in your life. 00:36:34.000 --> 00:36:36.000 It's like burnt into my memory. 00:36:36.000 --> 00:36:38.000 I know where I was sitting. 00:36:38.000 --> 00:36:39.000 I know where I was standing. 00:36:39.000 --> 00:36:40.000 There are moments. 00:36:40.000 --> 00:36:46.000 This one day I was 18 years old and I was just sitting in the corner of our gathering and they were worshiping. 00:36:46.000 --> 00:36:50.000 And I said, Lord, I need to experience your touch. 00:36:50.000 --> 00:36:52.000 And I was sitting with my hands on my knees like this. 00:36:52.000 --> 00:36:57.000 The next moment, it felt like there was fire burning on my hands for more than 40 minutes. 00:36:57.000 --> 00:37:00.000 Eventually, I was saying, God, remove this, please. 00:37:00.000 --> 00:37:03.000 It is actually hurting me. 00:37:03.000 --> 00:37:07.000 Where I couldn't stand up, where the Holy Spirit was touching me. 00:37:07.000 --> 00:37:10.000 Many moments like this that are burnt into my memory where I'm going. 00:37:10.000 --> 00:37:12.000 I know that the Lord has touched me. 00:37:12.000 --> 00:37:15.000 And those moments fuel us. 00:37:15.000 --> 00:37:19.000 It fills us up for the work that is called us to. 00:37:19.000 --> 00:37:23.000 It fills us up for those hard decisions we need to make. 00:37:23.000 --> 00:37:25.000 It's the power of God that we need. 00:37:25.000 --> 00:37:27.000 This is what acts is full of. 00:37:27.000 --> 00:37:29.000 This is what the Word is full of. 00:37:29.000 --> 00:37:31.000 It brings your convictions to a new level. 00:37:31.000 --> 00:37:36.000 It gives you that boldness that you so crave for and desire. 00:37:36.000 --> 00:37:38.000 It gives it to you. 00:37:38.000 --> 00:37:40.000 It's the effect. 00:37:40.000 --> 00:37:42.000 It makes your gift come alive. 00:37:42.000 --> 00:37:45.000 And there's a new effect that works inside of you. 00:37:45.000 --> 00:37:47.000 So how do we get there? 00:37:47.000 --> 00:37:48.000 How do we get there? 00:37:48.000 --> 00:37:50.000 Well, it's very simple. 00:37:50.000 --> 00:37:52.000 Desire it. 00:37:52.000 --> 00:37:57.000 Desire and then receive. 00:37:57.000 --> 00:38:02.000 It's not trying to figure it out because I tell you what, the Lord will mess with your mind so much. 00:38:02.000 --> 00:38:05.000 He will go beyond your mind. 00:38:05.000 --> 00:38:11.000 He will not come in the way that you want him to come in a box. 00:38:11.000 --> 00:38:14.000 The Lord is bigger than your box. 00:38:14.000 --> 00:38:16.000 And so number one, desire it. 00:38:16.000 --> 00:38:19.000 And if I can awaken a desire in you that you just start praying, 00:38:19.000 --> 00:38:22.000 Holy Spirit, fill me up. 00:38:22.000 --> 00:38:25.000 And it's not just that Jesus would use specific words. 00:38:25.000 --> 00:38:27.000 He says, I will give you power. 00:38:27.000 --> 00:38:30.000 So Lord, fill me up with that power. 00:38:30.000 --> 00:38:33.000 Fill me up with that power, God, because I need this. 00:38:33.000 --> 00:38:37.000 And number two, we need to learn how to receive. 00:38:37.000 --> 00:38:44.000 We really need to learn how to receive because God has given us so many gifts. 00:38:44.000 --> 00:38:48.000 We need to learn how to receive them freely. 00:38:48.000 --> 00:38:50.000 Freely, guys. 00:38:50.000 --> 00:38:55.000 This power of the Holy Spirit has been given to us as a beautiful gift. 00:38:56.000 --> 00:39:04.000 But I pray today that there'd be an awakening in our hearts for power. 00:39:04.000 --> 00:39:09.000 And as I explained on all three dimensions over there, we need to have that. 00:39:09.000 --> 00:39:11.000 It doesn't help. We're healing the sick. 00:39:11.000 --> 00:39:14.000 And then we can't say no to sin. 00:39:14.000 --> 00:39:18.000 No. It's power on all levels. 00:39:18.000 --> 00:39:21.000 Can I pray for us? 00:39:21.000 --> 00:39:24.000 Father, I thank you. 00:39:24.000 --> 00:39:27.000 I thank you, Father, that you've given us your Holy Spirit. 00:39:27.000 --> 00:39:30.000 You've given us your promise. 00:39:30.000 --> 00:39:32.000 It's a great promise. 00:39:32.000 --> 00:39:37.000 It's a promise that's called, that's being given for your children. 00:39:37.000 --> 00:39:41.000 We don't deserve it and we cannot earn it. 00:39:43.000 --> 00:39:49.000 So Lord, would you teach us how to receive the power of the Holy Spirit? 00:39:49.000 --> 00:39:51.000 That will infuse us. 00:39:51.000 --> 00:39:56.000 That we will know that we know that we know that we've put our fingers in the force field of heaven. 00:39:56.000 --> 00:40:03.000 There's been a power exchange from heaven to earth in my body that I cannot explain. 00:40:03.000 --> 00:40:05.000 I will not try and figure it out. 00:40:05.000 --> 00:40:11.000 But I pray, Father, you'll go beyond the dimensions of our limitations and our minds to say, yes, Lord. 00:40:11.000 --> 00:40:18.000 Yes, Lord, we yield ourselves to receive a power transaction. 00:40:19.000 --> 00:40:24.000 So I pray that, God, I pray for humility in our hearts. 00:40:24.000 --> 00:40:27.000 A total humility just to say, yes, Lord, I'm desperate. 00:40:27.000 --> 00:40:30.000 Awaken a desire in us, Holy Spirit. 00:40:30.000 --> 00:40:32.000 You do the work, Holy Spirit. I know you do it. 00:40:32.000 --> 00:40:36.000 Awaken a desire in us for the power of God. 00:40:36.000 --> 00:40:39.000 For the power of God. Awaken that desire. 00:40:39.000 --> 00:40:47.000 Our prayer language would start to change because we're saying, God, baptize me afresh with the power that you've given. 00:40:47.000 --> 00:40:49.000 The same that they gave to acts. 00:40:49.000 --> 00:40:50.000 Those men and women in acts. 00:40:50.000 --> 00:40:55.000 I pray for that portion for us in this church. 00:40:55.000 --> 00:41:02.000 I pray, awaken that cry in our hearts for more, for the more of the Lord, for the more power. 00:41:02.000 --> 00:41:06.000 That there'll be a fire that burns inside of us, Lord. 00:41:06.000 --> 00:41:12.000 I ask for that. I ask for that, Holy Spirit. 00:41:12.000 --> 00:41:14.000 Can we just practice that? 00:41:14.000 --> 00:41:19.000 Can I just give us a moment, every one of us, just to pray that, make that our prayer right now in this room. 00:41:19.000 --> 00:41:24.000 If you just raise your voice and say, I pray that for myself. 00:41:24.000 --> 00:41:28.000 A more, Lord. A great desire for your power, God. 00:41:28.000 --> 00:41:33.000 A great desire, Lord. 00:41:33.000 --> 00:41:36.000 We need your power, God. We need your power. 00:41:36.000 --> 00:41:41.000 The world must see your power, God, and I pray, awaken that desire in us, Lord. 00:41:41.000 --> 00:41:48.000 We want more. We want more, Lord. We want more. 00:41:48.000 --> 00:41:52.000 We want more, Father. 00:41:52.000 --> 00:42:00.000 We want more, Father. 00:42:00.000 --> 00:42:02.000 Give us that foolishness, Lord. 00:42:02.000 --> 00:42:06.000 Give us that foolishness that will put our fingers in the socket, Lord. 00:42:06.000 --> 00:42:08.000 It's like a childishness. 00:42:08.000 --> 00:42:12.000 I pray that, Father, God, we'll go beyond what's comfortable for us. 00:42:12.000 --> 00:42:15.000 Put a foolishness in our hearts, Lord. 00:42:15.000 --> 00:42:18.000 We will not relent, Lord. We will not relent. We will not give up. 00:42:18.000 --> 00:42:21.000 We'll say, this must be my portion. 00:42:21.000 --> 00:42:25.000 This must be my portion, what the Lord has promised me. 00:42:25.000 --> 00:42:27.000 That I will not give up. 00:42:27.000 --> 00:42:30.000 This, I cannot go on without the power of God in my life. 00:42:30.000 --> 00:42:33.000 I cannot go on. There must be more for me, God. 00:42:33.000 --> 00:42:38.000 I pray for a relentless, a foolishness in our hearts to go, yes, God. 00:42:38.000 --> 00:42:41.000 Yes, Lord, to this. 00:42:41.000 --> 00:42:44.000 That we will see it in our lives. We'll see it in our church. 00:42:44.000 --> 00:42:46.000 We'll see it manifest in our gatherings, God. 00:42:46.000 --> 00:42:47.000 We'll see it in our businesses. 00:42:47.000 --> 00:42:51.000 Wherever we move, we will see the people will not see me as a gift. 00:42:51.000 --> 00:42:54.000 They'll feel the power of the gift working through my life. 00:42:54.000 --> 00:43:02.000 I pray that, God, awaken that in our hearts as a church, as a family today, Lord. 00:43:02.000 --> 00:43:08.000 Do Your callous work, in Your mighty name.
