00:00:15.000 --> 00:00:17.000 Okay. 00:00:17.000 --> 00:00:26.000 Okay, guys, so we've been talking about the 00:00:26.000 --> 00:00:27.000 church in Pergamum. 00:00:27.000 --> 00:00:30.000 We started that last night, and so we continue from there. 00:00:30.000 --> 00:00:34.000 And we're just focusing on one theme out of the whole text, 00:00:34.000 --> 00:00:37.000 and that was the name of Jesus. 00:00:37.000 --> 00:00:38.000 The name of Jesus. 00:00:38.000 --> 00:00:41.000 So we continue from last night. 00:00:41.000 --> 00:00:46.000 For those of you who don't know what happened in the last teaching, 00:00:46.000 --> 00:00:51.000 go and listen to Saturday night's teaching from yesterday. 00:00:52.000 --> 00:00:57.000 And that's the first part, and it really helps then to understand the fullness of it. 00:00:57.000 --> 00:00:59.000 Otherwise, you only get part of it. 00:00:59.000 --> 00:01:02.000 So just to sum up some of the things we said yesterday. 00:01:02.000 --> 00:01:05.000 And the summary ain't as good as the preaching, eh? 00:01:05.000 --> 00:01:07.000 The preacher was brilliant last night. 00:01:07.000 --> 00:01:13.000 And so we were talking about Acts chapter 3, verse 12 to 16. 00:01:13.000 --> 00:01:19.000 And we talked about how we were going to be teaching the gospel. 00:01:19.000 --> 00:01:24.000 We talked about how Peter raised the man who was lame. 00:01:24.000 --> 00:01:27.000 And the question was, how is it done today? 00:01:27.000 --> 00:01:29.000 And there were three things we said. 00:01:29.000 --> 00:01:35.000 It was done, Peter says, that it was done through his name, as in through Jesus' name. 00:01:35.000 --> 00:01:38.000 Then he says it was done through faith in his name. 00:01:38.000 --> 00:01:43.000 And then he says it was done through faith which is by him. 00:01:43.000 --> 00:01:48.000 Strange how Peter in verse 16 uses all three things. 00:01:48.000 --> 00:01:52.000 Why do you stare at us as if we did something great? 00:01:52.000 --> 00:01:56.000 What just happened was done through his name. 00:01:56.000 --> 00:02:02.000 And earlier on, I think in verse 12, we actually, earlier on it says in chapter 3, 00:02:02.000 --> 00:02:05.000 in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk. 00:02:05.000 --> 00:02:06.000 That's what he says. 00:02:06.000 --> 00:02:08.000 And so it was done through his name. 00:02:08.000 --> 00:02:11.000 And then he says it was done through faith in his name. 00:02:11.000 --> 00:02:17.000 And then the third part he says is it was done through faith which is by him. 00:02:17.000 --> 00:02:19.000 Faith which is by him. 00:02:19.000 --> 00:02:23.000 And so we said three things yesterday. 00:02:23.000 --> 00:02:33.000 That the first part is that all the power that exists in the world resides in Jesus. 00:02:33.000 --> 00:02:39.000 And then the second thing we said was that to avail of that power, 00:02:39.000 --> 00:02:43.000 you have to exercise faith so that you can draw that power. 00:02:43.000 --> 00:02:49.000 And the third thing we said is that once you exercise faith to avail of that power, 00:02:49.000 --> 00:02:54.000 that power will fill whatever you direct it towards with strength and life. 00:02:54.000 --> 00:02:56.000 Those are three stages. 00:02:56.000 --> 00:03:00.000 That's why throughout this afternoon, every time I'm praying, 00:03:00.000 --> 00:03:03.000 I'm using these three as examples so that we understand how it works. 00:03:03.000 --> 00:03:06.000 The first thing is, and this is what Peter is basically saying, 00:03:06.000 --> 00:03:15.000 that the power that wrought the cure in the lame man recited in the name of Jesus, in Jesus' name. 00:03:15.000 --> 00:03:17.000 The power recited in Jesus' name. 00:03:17.000 --> 00:03:18.000 That's great. 00:03:18.000 --> 00:03:21.000 So all the power that exists in the world resides in Jesus. 00:03:21.000 --> 00:03:23.000 There is no power that is outside of Jesus. 00:03:23.000 --> 00:03:29.000 Anyone who exerts even a tiny amount of power is able to exert it simply because Jesus allows it. 00:03:29.000 --> 00:03:32.000 So there is no power outside of Jesus. 00:03:32.000 --> 00:03:34.000 All power is contained in Jesus. 00:03:34.000 --> 00:03:35.000 He may distribute it. 00:03:35.000 --> 00:03:37.000 He may allow it. 00:03:37.000 --> 00:03:40.000 But there is no power outside of him. 00:03:40.000 --> 00:03:42.000 All power resides in him. 00:03:42.000 --> 00:03:47.000 And so what happened to the cripple happened because all power resides in Jesus. 00:03:47.000 --> 00:03:55.000 But Peter was smart enough after spending three years with Jesus to know that he can avail of that power by exercising faith. 00:03:55.000 --> 00:03:59.000 And that is the only way power can be accessed. 00:03:59.000 --> 00:04:02.000 Power is accessed or availed of by exercising faith. 00:04:02.000 --> 00:04:05.000 Otherwise, you do not have the power flow through you. 00:04:05.000 --> 00:04:09.000 When it does flow without the exercise of faith, it is the sheer grace of God. 00:04:09.000 --> 00:04:12.000 And thank God for that because there is plenty of that going around. 00:04:12.000 --> 00:04:17.000 But if you want to be active participants with God in what he is doing, 00:04:17.000 --> 00:04:22.000 then it is required of me that the power that is resident in the name of Jesus, 00:04:22.000 --> 00:04:27.000 and it is resident in the name of Jesus because the name of Jesus belongs to the person of Jesus. 00:04:27.000 --> 00:04:31.000 So it is not like the name is something separate. 00:04:31.000 --> 00:04:35.000 It is resident in the name of Jesus. 00:04:35.000 --> 00:04:38.000 I now exercise faith to avail of it. 00:04:38.000 --> 00:04:43.000 And then I direct it towards the cripple or the blind or the dead or a situation or a circumstance. 00:04:43.000 --> 00:04:45.000 I direct it towards that. 00:04:45.000 --> 00:04:48.000 And as I do, it comes to life strength. 00:04:48.000 --> 00:04:51.000 Any questions on that? He can shut this whole thing down. 00:05:13.000 --> 00:05:16.000 Any questions? 00:05:17.000 --> 00:05:19.000 Can I ask a really normal one? 00:05:19.000 --> 00:05:21.000 Yeah. 00:05:21.000 --> 00:05:30.000 Why would God commit our two countries like North Korea, 00:05:30.000 --> 00:05:33.000 when they really, really oppress each other? 00:05:33.000 --> 00:05:36.000 Romans 13 and Deuteronomy 32. 00:05:36.000 --> 00:05:37.000 Romans what? 00:05:37.000 --> 00:05:41.000 Romans 13, Deuteronomy 32. 00:05:42.000 --> 00:05:47.000 The question was, Diana said, I have a horrible question. 00:05:47.000 --> 00:05:55.000 And then she said, why does God commit power to say the tyrant in North Korea, 00:05:55.000 --> 00:06:03.000 permit power to reside in the tyrant in North Korea and so on. 00:06:03.000 --> 00:06:08.000 And so the answer you can find in one, part of the answer is found in Deuteronomy 32. 00:06:08.000 --> 00:06:10.000 Part of the answer is found in Romans 13. 00:06:10.000 --> 00:06:13.000 And then part of the answer is found in Revelation. 00:06:16.000 --> 00:06:17.000 I'll just give it to you. 00:06:17.000 --> 00:06:21.000 So when you read all three and then we can talk about it. 00:06:21.000 --> 00:06:23.000 Not right now. 00:06:26.000 --> 00:06:30.000 And then the last bit of the answer is found in Revelation 18. 00:06:30.000 --> 00:06:36.000 And then it goes on to say, the kingdoms of the world have become the kingdoms of our Christ and King. 00:06:36.000 --> 00:06:40.000 I think it's in Revelation 18, but Revelation 18 is the start of it. 00:06:40.000 --> 00:06:42.000 Let me see where that scripture is. 00:06:44.000 --> 00:06:47.000 Kingdoms. Does anyone want to know where that scripture is? 00:06:47.000 --> 00:06:53.000 Kingdoms of the world have become the kingdoms of our God and King. 00:06:53.000 --> 00:07:06.000 Yeah, it's in Revelation 11, 15. 00:07:06.000 --> 00:07:11.000 It's an announcement that the kingdoms of the earth are going to become the kingdoms of our God and King. 00:07:11.000 --> 00:07:13.000 And then Revelation 17, it begins. 00:07:13.000 --> 00:07:15.000 Revelation 18, it starts happening. 00:07:15.000 --> 00:07:17.000 So read those three and then we can talk about it. 00:07:20.000 --> 00:07:21.000 Cool. 00:07:21.000 --> 00:07:26.000 So we said yesterday that the name comes from a Greek word, onoma, O-N-O-M-A-H. 00:07:26.000 --> 00:07:33.000 And it actually means the authority that a person carries, the character that the person is defined by, 00:07:33.000 --> 00:07:38.000 the influence the person has, and the advantage the person possesses. 00:07:41.000 --> 00:07:44.000 This is why it's not healthy to name your child Apple. 00:07:44.000 --> 00:07:48.000 Because for God, naming people was important. 00:07:51.000 --> 00:07:57.000 So, no naming your child Apple. Hello. 00:07:58.000 --> 00:08:01.000 Not Apple, not Colorado, not Avalanche. 00:08:01.000 --> 00:08:04.000 Pardon? Peaches. 00:08:13.000 --> 00:08:15.000 Don't let him name the child MacKinnon either. 00:08:16.000 --> 00:08:17.000 Okay. 00:08:18.000 --> 00:08:27.000 So, guys, onoma means authority, character, advantage, and influence. 00:08:27.000 --> 00:08:29.000 That's what the name means. 00:08:29.000 --> 00:08:33.000 So every time we say in the name of Jesus Christ, we're actually saying, 00:08:33.000 --> 00:08:39.000 hey Jesus, when I use your name, I'm actually saying that whatever I'm going to speak right now comes out of your character. 00:08:39.000 --> 00:08:42.000 If it doesn't come out of your character, I have no right to use this name. 00:08:43.000 --> 00:08:47.000 As I use this name, I need to recognize that you have all authority. 00:08:47.000 --> 00:08:52.000 If I don't believe that, then the using of your name is like a mantra, like a chant. 00:08:55.000 --> 00:09:00.000 When I use your name, I must understand that you are someone who has tremendous influence. 00:09:00.000 --> 00:09:07.000 And as I speak your name, this influence will begin to wrap itself like a cocoon around what I'm directing it towards. 00:09:08.000 --> 00:09:12.000 And when I use your name, oh God, it gives me a distinct advantage. 00:09:18.000 --> 00:09:23.000 And like I said, there is power in Christ's name because there is power in Christ's person. 00:09:23.000 --> 00:09:25.000 So we're not separating the name from the person. 00:09:26.000 --> 00:09:31.000 But Peter specifically says, listen, there are three things you need to understand. 00:09:31.000 --> 00:09:38.000 That I do things through his name, I do things through faith in his name, and I do things through faith which is by him. 00:09:42.000 --> 00:09:45.000 Names were prophetic, guys. Names were prophetic. 00:09:48.000 --> 00:09:50.000 They always carried meaning. 00:09:52.000 --> 00:09:53.000 Eve names her son Cain. 00:09:56.000 --> 00:09:58.000 There was a meaning to that name. 00:09:59.000 --> 00:10:01.000 Eve was named by God. 00:10:01.000 --> 00:10:05.000 Saying to Adam, listen, name her Eve, mother of all things, Eva. 00:10:07.000 --> 00:10:14.000 Abraham, very specific. These names would let people know the intent of God. 00:10:14.000 --> 00:10:18.000 Manasseh, I have forgotten my sorrow. 00:10:18.000 --> 00:10:21.000 Ephraim, I shall have now double fruit in the land. 00:10:21.000 --> 00:10:23.000 Jesus, he is the one who saves. 00:10:23.000 --> 00:10:25.000 Peter, on this rock. 00:10:25.000 --> 00:10:27.000 So God began the world by naming things. 00:10:27.000 --> 00:10:30.000 He called it day and he called it night. 00:10:31.000 --> 00:10:36.000 Then after God named things, he called Adam and said, listen, I want you to do what I've always been doing. 00:10:36.000 --> 00:10:38.000 Here, start naming things. 00:10:44.000 --> 00:10:48.000 One of the coolest scriptures is when in Exodus 3, verse 13 and 14, 00:10:48.000 --> 00:10:52.000 Moses asks God, who shall I say sent me? 00:10:52.000 --> 00:10:57.000 And God replies, Moses says, what shall I tell them your name is? 00:10:57.000 --> 00:11:00.000 If they ask me what is his name, what shall I say to them? 00:11:00.000 --> 00:11:03.000 And God says to Moses, I am who I am. 00:11:04.000 --> 00:11:10.000 And he says, say to the people of Israel, I am, has sent me to you. 00:11:12.000 --> 00:11:17.000 This is something we need to realize because we must understand that God sent us to the land. 00:11:17.000 --> 00:11:23.000 Because we must understand that as we begin to go outwards, as this revival begins to catch globally, 00:11:23.000 --> 00:11:30.000 as church becomes 30 house churches by September, that it is I am who is sending us. 00:11:32.000 --> 00:11:37.000 If you were to ask the question of God today, okay, God, so you want all these things done. 00:11:37.000 --> 00:11:40.000 You want this revival that you're igniting to spread globally. 00:11:40.000 --> 00:11:43.000 If they ask me what is your name, what shall we say? 00:11:43.000 --> 00:11:46.000 And God says, listen, tell them I am who I am. 00:11:46.000 --> 00:11:51.000 And he said, say this to the people of Israel, I am has sent me to you. 00:11:51.000 --> 00:11:59.000 When you look at Isaiah 45, 23, Isaiah 45, 23, you see that this is such a cool scripture. 00:11:59.000 --> 00:12:00.000 Isaiah 45, 23. 00:12:05.000 --> 00:12:08.000 Why are we focusing so much on this idea of the name? 00:12:08.000 --> 00:12:14.000 Because like I said yesterday, Jesus's name has become a book into prayer, a book into a declaration. 00:12:14.000 --> 00:12:19.000 We do not pause to think about the weight of what we are saying. 00:12:21.000 --> 00:12:27.000 And I want us to come back to that place where every time we take that name, we take it thoughtfully. 00:12:27.000 --> 00:12:31.000 We take it with affection in our hearts, with the weight of truth in our minds. 00:12:32.000 --> 00:12:35.000 It will be hard to take his name any other way. 00:12:36.000 --> 00:12:38.000 Isaiah 45, verse 23. 00:12:38.000 --> 00:12:43.000 By myself I have sworn, and this is Yahweh speaking, 00:12:43.000 --> 00:12:48.000 By myself I have sworn, my mouth has uttered in all integrity a word that will not be revoked. 00:12:48.000 --> 00:12:52.000 Before me every knee will bow, and by me every tongue will swear. 00:12:52.000 --> 00:12:55.000 They will say of me, in the Lord alone are righteousness and strength. 00:12:55.000 --> 00:13:01.000 All who have ranged against me and come to him shall be put, all that have ranged against him will come to him and be put to shame. 00:13:01.000 --> 00:13:03.000 Now go to Philippians 2, 9. 00:13:03.000 --> 00:13:06.000 You suddenly realize that Yahweh is Jesus Christ. 00:13:06.000 --> 00:13:09.000 As in, it's not that Yahweh is someone else and Christ is someone else. 00:13:09.000 --> 00:13:16.000 Because in Philippians 2, 9 it is said, Isaiah 45, 23 is being borrowed, and in Philippians 2, 9 look at what it says, 2, 11. 00:13:17.000 --> 00:13:20.000 That the name of Jesus every knee, verse 10, 00:13:20.000 --> 00:13:24.000 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow in heaven and on earth and under the earth, 00:13:24.000 --> 00:13:28.000 and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord to the glory of God. 00:13:29.000 --> 00:13:32.000 Whatever is true of the name of Yahweh is true of the name of Jesus Christ. 00:13:33.000 --> 00:13:39.000 Whatever is true of the name of Yahweh is true of the name of Jesus Christ. 00:13:39.000 --> 00:13:45.000 I pray God that we understand that the one who is sending us out is Yahweh himself. 00:13:45.000 --> 00:13:50.000 If you were in the Old Testament, somehow Jesus has become too familiar, he has become too friendly. 00:13:50.000 --> 00:13:53.000 But think of it in terms of Yahweh. 00:13:53.000 --> 00:13:56.000 The same one. 00:13:56.000 --> 00:14:00.000 What if you were Israel and God suddenly turns up and Jehovah begins to speak to you and say, 00:14:00.000 --> 00:14:03.000 Hey, Acts 29, this is what I want you to do. 00:14:03.000 --> 00:14:10.000 I want you to know that I'm going to ignite a revival that will spread globally through 40 or 50 people that gather here as a church. 00:14:12.000 --> 00:14:17.000 And if you were to say that, it would be much easier to believe because we have some kind of awe for Yahweh, 00:14:17.000 --> 00:14:18.000 but Jesus has become too friendly. 00:14:18.000 --> 00:14:19.000 Hey, Shell. 00:14:21.000 --> 00:14:22.000 He's become too friendly. 00:14:22.000 --> 00:14:29.000 And yet it is the same Yahweh that then is reflected in Philippians 2, 9 and 10 where it talks about Jesus. 00:14:30.000 --> 00:14:39.000 Any questions, guys? 00:14:45.000 --> 00:14:48.000 Yeah, I'll stick with Jacob for now. 00:14:48.000 --> 00:14:54.000 Are you going to explain what the faith by him part means? 00:14:54.000 --> 00:14:56.000 I did yesterday. 00:14:56.000 --> 00:14:57.000 Yeah. 00:14:57.000 --> 00:14:59.000 So I won't be explaining it again. 00:15:07.000 --> 00:15:11.000 So, Father, we just want to pause and acknowledge for a second that you, Jehovah, 00:15:15.000 --> 00:15:23.000 who we sometimes have more in awe of because of all the stories we hear in the Old Testament, 00:15:23.000 --> 00:15:29.000 that you, Jehovah, are the one that is saying to this church, listen, I'm sending you out. 00:15:29.000 --> 00:15:34.000 And if they ask you who sent you out, tell them that I am who I am, that I am who I am has sent you out. 00:15:34.000 --> 00:15:39.000 And, oh God, we dare not say no to you. 00:15:41.000 --> 00:15:49.000 We want to walk as disciples, ones who lay down their preferences, their prejudices, their self-determination, their thinking, their culture. 00:15:53.000 --> 00:16:01.000 Of you, Jehovah, it was said that every knee shall bow. 00:16:01.000 --> 00:16:04.000 And of you, Jesus, it was said that every knee shall bow. 00:16:04.000 --> 00:16:07.000 We declare that the Lord our God, the Lord is one. 00:16:10.000 --> 00:16:13.000 We are absolutely inadequate and incapable of this task. 00:16:13.000 --> 00:16:17.000 So we ask Holy Spirit that you would enable us, you would anoint us, 00:16:17.000 --> 00:16:22.000 you would stir us up to become who you want us to become so that you can spend us, 00:16:22.000 --> 00:16:25.000 so that you can spend us, so that you can spend us. 00:16:25.000 --> 00:16:31.000 Oh God, I ask that this church be spent or this church be shut down, that there be no in-betweenies. 00:16:31.000 --> 00:16:35.000 That either this church must be spent or this church must be shut down. 00:16:35.000 --> 00:16:39.000 There should be no other reason for our existence. 00:16:40.000 --> 00:16:43.000 Please hear my words, please hold me to my words. 00:16:43.000 --> 00:16:51.000 Oh God, on behalf of these people I say, either strengthen us to spend us or shut us down. 00:16:51.000 --> 00:16:53.000 There are other churches we can go to. 00:17:07.000 --> 00:17:11.000 Till we try it out on the streets, this is just teaching in the church. 00:17:11.000 --> 00:17:18.000 The strange thing is guys, this name Jesus is born by a genuine member of our human race. 00:17:18.000 --> 00:17:24.000 We don't realize that, eh, that the name that we use is actually born by a genuine member of the human race. 00:17:24.000 --> 00:17:29.000 Jesus, son of man, forever man, forever God. 00:17:29.000 --> 00:17:37.000 1 Timothy 2.5 refers to him as the only name that can save us from the danger of being killed. 00:17:37.000 --> 00:17:44.000 1 Timothy 2.5 refers to him as the only name that can save the name of Jesus Christ the man. 00:17:47.000 --> 00:17:48.000 Why is that important? 00:17:48.000 --> 00:17:52.000 Because we need to realize how as we walk amongst men here, 00:17:52.000 --> 00:18:01.000 the name that we are using is actually born by a genuine member of our race in whose name we are saying, 00:18:01.000 --> 00:18:07.000 This battle was lost by Adam and in the name of Jesus Christ, we the sons of Adam take it back. 00:18:11.000 --> 00:18:15.000 It's important guys, we always think it is God in heaven doing things. 00:18:15.000 --> 00:18:18.000 No, Jesus is saying, but I dwell in your midst. 00:18:18.000 --> 00:18:22.000 I want you to be little, Jesus is doing exactly what I did. 00:18:22.000 --> 00:18:24.000 I came deliberately in human form. 00:18:24.000 --> 00:18:27.000 It is in my limited ability that I did things. 00:18:27.000 --> 00:18:29.000 You in your limited ability can do things too. 00:18:31.000 --> 00:18:44.000 I know I've done this before, but if you call Nick up and Nick came and stood here, 00:18:44.000 --> 00:18:57.000 which he's going to do soon, and I was Jesus, of course, then when Jesus, 00:18:57.000 --> 00:19:01.000 you'll have to come here because when Jesus walked the earth, 00:19:01.000 --> 00:19:05.000 what was the fundamental difference between Jesus and Nick? 00:19:05.000 --> 00:19:11.000 Nick today born again believer and Jesus 2000 years ago when he walked the earth. 00:19:11.000 --> 00:19:13.000 What is the fundamental difference? 00:19:16.000 --> 00:19:17.000 Not a trick question. 00:19:20.000 --> 00:19:25.000 Pardon?
