taking 4 liters of oxygen now he's being given just 2 liters of oxygen, 00:14:02.320 --> 00:14:06.320 which is significant because obviously his lungs are doing better. 00:14:06.320 --> 00:14:16.320 And with oxygen he's breathing at 97, that's the saturation percentage of the lungs. 00:14:16.320 --> 00:14:23.320 And they'll give him another shot of medicines today and then they'll do a blood test tomorrow 00:14:23.320 --> 00:14:27.320 and they'll find out whether he's okay to be discharged or not. 00:14:27.320 --> 00:14:33.320 And Rosalind was in hospital till yesterday, she's back home. 00:14:33.320 --> 00:14:38.320 The doctors will talk to her about the tumor and we're trusting that it will be benign. 00:14:38.320 --> 00:14:48.320 But she's back home and glad to be back home and she was grateful for the way people were calling her 00:14:48.320 --> 00:14:51.320 and doing anything they could to help her. 00:14:51.320 --> 00:14:54.320 And Matt was thankful too, so both of them are --> 01:03:32.860 There are cities even today that are cities or centers or vortexes 01:03:32.860 --> 01:03:44.860 of evil where Satan has established, if not a throne, some form of power base. 01:03:44.860 --> 01:03:55.860 I know places in Lithuania, I know places in BC and in other parts of the world 01:03:55.860 --> 01:04:03.860 where these cities are centers or power base or a power base of evil. 01:04:03.860 --> 01:04:11.860 Maybe further down the 49-day prayer we'll begin to talk about some of these cities. 01:04:11.860 --> 01:04:20.860 But today it's enough to know that there are such places that exist in present day history. 01:04:20.860 --> 01:04:24.860 So I see where you live, right under the shadow of Satan's throne, 01:04:24.860 --> 01:04:28.860 but you continue, and this is very specific, he's written to seven churches, 01:04:28.860 --> 01:04:35.860 but he picks this church and says there is a situation with your city that I'm aware of, 01:04:35.860 --> 01:04:42.860 that you literally live under the shadow of something that is evil. 01:04:42.860 --> 01:04:49.860 But you continue boldly in my name, but you continue boldly, but you continue boldly in my name, 01:04:49.860 --> 01:05:01.860 but you continue boldly in my name, but you continue boldly in my name. 01:05:01.860 --> 01:05:09.860 You never once denied my name, you never once denied my name, --> 01:05:40.860 And he commends this church for continuing boldly in the name of Jesus, 01:05:40.860 --> 01:05:43.860 never denying the name of Jesus, even when the pressure was worse. 01:05:43.860 --> 01:05:47.860 So I want to talk about name. 01:05:47.860 --> 01:05:53.860 The thing with name is guys, every time a name is uttered, 01:05:53.860 --> 01:06:02.860 what is thought and felt gives you an idea of the name, what is thought and felt. 01:06:02.860 --> 01:06:06.860 The thoughts that come up in your mind when a name is mentioned, 01:06:06.860 --> 01:06:10.860 the feelings that come up in your heart when a name is mentioned, 01:06:10.860 --> 01:06:14.860 betray the strength, the weakness, the character of that name. 01:06:14.860 --> 01:06:22.860 So if I say the name Elon Musk, there are certain thoughts that come up. 01:06:22.860 --> 01:06:27.860 And if you invested in Bitcoin, certain feelings come up too. 01:06:27.860 --> 01:06:37.860 Or if I say the word Steve Jobs, that name conjures certain images, certain thoughts, certain feelings. 01:06:37.860 --> 01:06:45.860 If I say Billy Graham, that name brings certain thoughts and certain feelings instantly. 01:06:45.860 --> 01:06:52.860 You may not be able to define them in a second, but you can in a period of time. 01:06:52.860 --> 01:06:57.860 Here's another name that when I say will confuse you, Ravi Zacharias. 01:06:57.860 --> 01:07:01.860 You don't know what to think and you don't know what to feel. 01:07:01.860 --> 01:07:07.860 Because some of us know that name that wrote books that were tremendously helpful, 01:07:07.860 --> 01:07:10.860 and then you know the stories today. 01:07:10.860 --> 01:07:15.860 Every name evokes a response. 01:07:15.860 --> 01:07:18.860 The name of Gabbar. You wouldn't know Gabbar, 01:07:18.860 --> 01:07:22.860 but in Greek, there's this famous saying, 01:07:27.860 --> 01:07:29.860 That's not Greek, that's Hindi. 01:07:29.860 --> 01:07:36.860 But this idea of this highway robber called Gabbar, 01:07:36.860 --> 01:07:38.860 parents used to say to their children, 01:07:38.860 --> 01:07:42.860 listen, go to sleep, otherwise Gabbar will come. 01:07:42.860 --> 01:07:49.860 So the point is this, guys, names evoke thoughts and evoke feelings. 01:07:49.860 --> 01:07:56.860 So the question then is, what is the thought and what are the feelings 01:07:56.860 --> 01:08:01.860 that come up in your heart when you hear the name Jesus? 01:08:01.860 --> 01:08:10.860 And you'll be surprised how it doesn't provoke what it should provoke. 01:08:10.860 --> 01:08:21.860 What I think and what I feel when I use the name of Jesus is what I will eventually convey. 01:08:21.860 --> 01:08:24.860 And I'm saying to you that we have gotten to a place 01:08:24.860 --> 01:08:29.860 where the name of Jesus is becoming more a bookend to prayers 01:08:29.860 --> 01:08:34.860 and doesn't necessarily provoke something inside me. 01:08:34.860 --> 01:08:38.860 And I don't want to be in that place where I'm so used to the name 01:08:38.860 --> 01:08:45.860 or where I'm beginning to use it like Muslims use inshallah. 01:08:45.860 --> 01:08:53.860 Everything a Muslim says, he usually ends it with the word inshallah, meaning God willing. 01:08:53.860 --> 01:08:55.860 Has Jesus become like that? 01:08:55.860 --> 01:08:59.860 Or do I realize the weight his name carries? 01:08:59.860 --> 01:09:07.860 What does it instantly bring to my thinking and instantly bring to my feelings? 01:09:07.860 --> 01:09:10.860 When I pray in the name of Jesus, what is it? 01:09:10.860 --> 01:09:17.860 Is it like a sign-off, like a signature tune, like a monogram, like a branding? 01:09:17.860 --> 01:09:21.860 What is it? Because if that is all it is, it is still powerful, 01:09:21.860 --> 01:09:26.860 but it isn't enough today for what we are presently engaged in. 01:09:26.860 --> 01:09:34.860 That's the problem. Where God is taking us, it isn't enough. 01:09:34.860 --> 01:09:38.860 When you look at the, and now I'm really speaking Greek, 01:09:38.860 --> 01:09:46.860 the Greek for name is onama. 01:09:46.860 --> 01:09:49.860 And here's what it stands for. 01:09:49.860 --> 01:10:07.860 Authority, character, authority, character, advantage, influence. 01:10:07.860 --> 01:10:16.860 I got my own little thing going for it because I'm into health drinks. 01:10:16.860 --> 01:10:24.860 So authority, character, advantage, and influence. 01:10:24.860 --> 01:10:26.860 That's what the word name means. 01:10:26.860 --> 01:10:31.860 So every time, and I've been practicing this deliberately for the last while, 01:10:31.860 --> 01:10:34.860 where when I say in the name of Jesus Christ, 01:10:34.860 --> 01:10:38.860 I go through this laborious process now of figuring out, 01:10:38.860 --> 01:10:42.860 okay, so you say in the name of Jesus Christ when you command something 01:10:42.860 --> 01:10:45.860 or when you pray for yourself or you're praying, 01:10:45.860 --> 01:10:49.860 do you realize that you're saying that Jesus Christ has this authority? 01:10:49.860 --> 01:10:51.860 Do you fully recognize it? 01:10:51.860 --> 01:10:53.860 Then I go to character. 01:10:53.860 --> 01:10:56.860 Is what I just said in the character of Christ, 01:10:56.860 --> 01:11:00.860 and does my heart now reflect that character as I speak it? 01:11:00.860 --> 01:11:01.860 Then I go to advantage. 01:11:01.860 --> 01:11:04.860 Do you really think that you now have an advantage? 01:11:04.860 --> 01:11:07.860 Or do you think there's a 50-50 chance of hit and miss, 01:11:07.860 --> 01:11:10.860 and you hope it happens because God is gracious and good? 01:11:10.860 --> 01:11:15.860 All that I'm saying is true, but it ain't good enough where we are going. 01:11:15.860 --> 01:11:19.860 I think of the advantage I have as I use the name of Jesus. 01:11:19.860 --> 01:11:22.860 And then finally I think of the word influence. 01:11:22.860 --> 01:11:24.860 As in, as I use the name of Jesus, 01:11:24.860 --> 01:11:28.860 is this influence going to overwhelm, hover over, 01:11:28.860 --> 01:11:30.860 and change whatever I'm praying for? 01:11:30.860 --> 01:11:34.860 Are these the ways I am thinking when I use the name of Jesus? 01:11:34.860 --> 01:11:36.860 Because if this is not the way of thinking, 01:11:36.860 --> 01:11:39.860 then it ain't good enough for where we are going. 01:11:39.860 --> 01:11:41.860 It's good enough for yesterday. 01:11:41.860 --> 01:11:43.860 It isn't good enough for tomorrow. 01:11:53.860 --> 01:11:55.860 Acts chapter 3. 01:11:56.860 --> 01:12:01.860 Why do we have to break it down like this and keep thinking along these lines? 01:12:01.860 --> 01:12:02.860 Because it's laborious. 01:12:02.860 --> 01:12:05.860 Every time you use the name of Jesus, oh my God, Akai. 01:12:05.860 --> 01:12:07.860 And then you've got to go down that list. 01:12:07.860 --> 01:12:11.860 No, because after a while it becomes default. 01:12:11.860 --> 01:12:15.860 After a while I understand that if I say, 01:12:15.860 --> 01:12:18.860 in the name of Jesus I want my shoulder to be healed, 01:12:18.860 --> 01:12:21.860 I'm saying that it isn't the character of Jesus as a healer. 01:12:21.860 --> 01:12:23.860 It is to my advantage, 01:12:23.860 --> 01:12:26.860 because he always advantages me when I use his name. 01:12:26.860 --> 01:12:32.860 It is his authority that is above everything else that can come and do me harm. 01:12:32.860 --> 01:12:37.860 And finally, his influence is such that it brings restoration. 01:12:37.860 --> 01:12:39.860 There are different ways I can say this. 01:12:39.860 --> 01:12:43.860 I just happen to say that off the cuff right now because I've been practicing it. 01:12:43.860 --> 01:12:50.860 Suddenly it's not, oh, in the name of Jesus, like stamped, endorsed, affirmed, go. 01:12:50.860 --> 01:12:52.860 It's not a fixing something. 01:12:52.860 --> 01:12:55.860 A fixing, A-F-F-I. 01:12:55.860 --> 01:12:57.860 It's not that. It's much, much more than that. 01:12:57.860 --> 01:13:04.860 Where we are going, we can't afford to be what we were yesterday as a name stamp. 01:13:08.860 --> 01:13:13.860 If you go to Acts 3, verse 12 to 16, Acts 3, verse 12 to 16, 01:13:13.860 --> 01:13:17.860 you see the disciples trying it out, the apostles trying it out. 01:13:17.860 --> 01:13:20.860 Jesus had left a little while ago. 01:13:22.860 --> 01:13:29.860 Acts 3, verse 12 to 16. 01:13:34.860 --> 01:13:36.860 Let's start it. 01:13:39.860 --> 01:13:41.860 Let's start at one. Acts 3, verse 1. 01:13:41.860 --> 01:13:46.860 One day Peter and John were going up to the temple at the time of prayer at three in the afternoon. 01:13:46.860 --> 01:13:50.860 Now a man crippled from birth was being carried to the temple gate called Beautiful, 01:13:50.860 --> 01:13:53.860 where he was put every day to beg from those going into the temple courts. 01:13:53.860 --> 01:13:56.860 When he saw Peter and John about to enter, he asked them for money. 01:13:56.860 --> 01:13:58.860 Peter looked straight at him as did John. 01:13:58.860 --> 01:14:00.860 Then Peter said, look at us. 01:14:00.860 --> 01:14:04.860 So the man gave them his attention, expecting to get something from them. 01:14:04.860 --> 01:14:08.860 Then Peter said, silver or gold I do not have, but what I have give you. 01:14:08.860 --> 01:14:14.860 In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, walk. 01:14:14.860 --> 01:14:16.860 Taking him by the right hand, he helped him up. 01:14:16.860 --> 01:14:19.860 Instantly the man's feet and ankles became strong. 01:14:19.860 --> 01:14:23.860 He jumped to his feet and began to walk, and then he went with them into the temple courts, 01:14:23.860 --> 01:14:25.860 walking and jumping and praising God. 01:14:25.860 --> 01:14:27.860 When all the people saw him walking and praising God, 01:14:27.860 --> 01:14:32.860 they recognized him as the same man who used to sit begging at the temple gate called Beautiful, 01:14:32.860 --> 01:14:38.860 and they were filled with wonder and amazement at what had happened to him. 01:14:38.860 --> 01:14:42.860 You know, this is a side note. It's not important. 01:14:42.860 --> 01:14:49.860 This was the first sermon I ever preached in my life. 01:14:49.860 --> 01:14:53.860 I shudder to think of those notes. 01:14:53.860 --> 01:14:57.860 Anyways, God is faithful, man. 01:14:57.860 --> 01:15:01.860 That was more than 30 years ago. 01:15:01.860 --> 01:15:06.860 Acts 7.3, verse 11 to 16. 01:15:06.860 --> 01:15:08.860 While the beggar held on to Peter and John, 01:15:08.860 --> 01:15:14.860 all the people were astonished and came running to them in a place called Solomon's Colonnade. 01:15:14.860 --> 01:15:15.860 Verse 12. 01:15:15.860 --> 01:15:17.860 When Peter saw this, he said to them, 01:15:17.860 --> 01:15:19.860 Men of Israel, why does this surprise you? 01:15:19.860 --> 01:15:25.860 Why do you stare at us as if by our own power or godliness we had made this man walk? 01:15:25.860 --> 01:15:28.860 The God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, the God of our fathers, 01:15:28.860 --> 01:15:30.860 has glorified his servant Jesus. 01:15:30.860 --> 01:15:35.860 You handed him over to be killed, and you disowned him before Pilate, though he decided to let him go. 01:15:35.860 --> 01:15:39.860 You disowned the Holy and Righteous One and asked that a murderer be released to you. 01:15:39.860 --> 01:15:42.860 You killed the author of life, but God raised him from the dead. 01:15:42.860 --> 01:15:44.860 We are witnesses of this. 01:15:44.860 --> 01:15:46.860 This is the part I really want you to see. 01:15:46.860 --> 01:15:51.860 By faith in the name of Jesus, this man whom you see and know was made strong. 01:15:51.860 --> 01:15:55.860 It is Jesus' name and the faith that comes through him 01:15:55.860 --> 01:15:59.860 that has given this complete healing to him as you can all see. 01:15:59.860 --> 01:16:06.860 So Peter and John had no conception of all that was in the name. 01:16:06.860 --> 01:16:11.860 They were familiar with Jesus, and now he had risen and ascended. 01:16:11.860 --> 01:16:16.860 And so this is one of the first times Peter and John are trying out the name. 01:16:16.860 --> 01:16:21.860 And so they really had no conception of all that was in the name, 01:16:21.860 --> 01:16:26.860 but they had faith to say, they had faith to say, 01:16:26.860 --> 01:16:29.860 in the name of Jesus Christ, rise up and walk. 01:16:29.860 --> 01:16:31.860 And I question us on that. 01:16:31.860 --> 01:16:34.860 It's one thing to have the name of Jesus Christ. 01:16:34.860 --> 01:16:41.860 I'm asking you, do you have faith to say, in the name of Jesus Christ, rise up and walk, to someone who is lame? 01:16:41.860 --> 01:16:44.860 And the answer is usually no. 01:16:44.860 --> 01:16:57.860 So how is it done today? 01:16:57.860 --> 01:17:00.860 Exactly as it was done that day. 01:17:00.860 --> 01:17:02.860 These are the three things we need to remember. 01:17:02.860 --> 01:17:07.860 It was through his name. 01:17:07.860 --> 01:17:11.860 These are the three things that stand out in that 16th verse, 01:17:11.860 --> 01:17:14.860 depending on the different versions that you read. 01:17:14.860 --> 01:17:26.860 Through his name, it was through faith in his name, 01:17:26.860 --> 01:17:33.860 through his name, through faith in his name, 01:17:33.860 --> 01:17:50.860 and three, through faith, through faith which is by him or given by him. 01:17:50.860 --> 01:17:53.860 Through his name, it was done through his name, 01:17:53.860 --> 01:17:55.860 it was done through faith in his name, 01:17:55.860 --> 01:17:59.860 and it was done through faith given by him. 01:17:59.860 --> 01:18:01.860 That's how it's still done. 01:18:01.860 --> 01:18:06.860 But my problem then is, what do I really think of this name? 01:18:06.860 --> 01:18:09.860 When I think of this name, it's one thing to pray it from a distance, 01:18:09.860 --> 01:18:15.860 but do I have the faith required, even though I may not have a full conception of what his name can do? 01:18:15.860 --> 01:18:20.860 I just need to recognize that this is no ordinary name. 01:18:20.860 --> 01:18:23.860 This is not a stamp affixed to my prayer. 01:18:23.860 --> 01:18:26.860 This is not a Hail Mary. 01:18:27.860 --> 01:18:34.860 Then I hope it works. It's a 50-50 chance. Maybe it will and then it'll be awesome. 01:18:34.860 --> 01:18:40.860 What Peter and John says, why stare at us as if it's our power or godliness that made him walk? 01:18:40.860 --> 01:18:41.860 Here's the thing we need to realize. 01:18:41.860 --> 01:18:48.860 The power, the power, why do I have to write everything? 01:18:49.860 --> 01:18:52.860 The power that had wrought the cure, 01:18:52.860 --> 01:19:01.860 the power that had wrought the cure was resident, 01:19:01.860 --> 01:19:04.860 was resident, 01:19:04.860 --> 01:19:14.860 the power that had wrought the cure was resident in Jesus' name. 01:19:14.860 --> 01:19:19.100 I want us to just think of that for a second 01:19:19.100 --> 01:19:23.620 all power to bring about healing is resident 01:19:23.620 --> 01:19:30.340 in Jesus' name. What does His name represent? 01:23:13.340 they wouldn't talk about Jesus of Nazareth later 01:23:13.340 --> 01:23:17.340 they were still in Jerusalem, everybody knew of Jesus of Nazareth 01:23:17.860 --> 01:23:20.860 and they thought he was dead, and so they said in the name of Jesus of Nazareth 01:23:20.860 --> 01:23:23.860 as in you know him, you killed him, he's come back to life 01:23:23.860 --> 01:23:27.860 and look what happened to him, we know the power to heal 01:23:27.860 --> 01:23:30.860 to save, to rise from the dead, to take away blindness 01:23:30.860 --> 01:23:33.860 to cast out demons, is resident in that name 01:23:33.860 --> 01:23:36.860 we knew him, we saw him do that, he has left 01:23:36.860 --> 01:23:42.860 but that name is still the only name by which these things happen 01:23:42.860 -->
