It's almost like God saying, see there 00:02:25.500 --> 00:02:29.540 were former things I announced they've taken place now I announce new things that are going 00:02:29.540 --> 00:02:33.380 to happen they will spring up so I want you to pay attention. It's almost like a dividing line, 00:02:33.380 --> 00:02:40.420 the same kind of dividing line that you see in Luke 2. This is why I said it is a prophetic message and 00:06:18.620 --> 00:06:23.620 by prophetic all I mean is the former things are done. Look at the new things I'm starting. One, just like in Joshua 5 10 after 40 years of eating manna, manna suddenly stopped. If that means changing the way we do praise and worship so be 00:07:38.820 --> 00:07:45.740 it. If that means changing the way we do church so be it. But the familiar is done. Change is on us again. One of the cool things about Acts 29 is Acts 29 00:07:55.780 --> 00:08:02.260 has never had much of a problem with change. You don't even look at it as if it's a big deal. You 00:08:02.260 --> 00:08:11.380 behave as if it's part of life and it's happening again. And the strange thing is you don't even say 00:08:11.380 --> 00:08:16.700 Amen and stuff like that. Looks like you're half dead but my god you're alive because change only 00:08:16.700 --> 00:08:22.260 happens to alive people. I never go by the response I get from you because if I did I'd 00:08:22.260 --> 00:08:29.740 found another church long ago. I just know that you are so open to change. You don't even look 00:08:29.740 --> 00:08:40.340 at it as oh no. So the familiar is done. Change is on us again. Get ready. So that's one. The second 00:08:40.340 --> 00:08:48.020 thing is guys there's an Elijah to Elisha thing happening where Elijah was great but if you read 00:08:48.020 --> 00:08:54.900 first Kings 19 to 21, please follow me on these scriptures. So there is this whole idea now of Jacob we may have been 00:10:07.140 --> 00:10:10.500 connected with different people, different traditions, different ways in the past but a 00:10:10.500 --> 00:10:16.660 time is coming when a whole new way of functioning has begun which the people in the past have not 00:10:16.660 --> 00:10:21.340 been able to capture nor have they been able to model it so God will have to show us how to do 00:10:21.340 --> 00:10:29.100 this. In Isaiah 51 verse 1 & 2 it says look to the quarry that you have been cut from look to 00:10:29.100 --> 00:10:39.060 Abraham and Sarah your mother. Go to Isaiah 51 verse 1 & 2. Guys when we read this scripture there is a tendency to look at our grandfathers and grandmothers, 00:11:31.460 --> 00:11:38.140 and mothers and try to stay connected to them. That is good. But what God is saying here is listen 00:11:38.140 --> 00:11:43.460 look to Sarah and Abraham and look to the quarry you got cut from because when you do you will find 00:11:43.460 --> 00:11:48.500 that the way I do things is I start with a small number and I multiply them. That is what we need 00:11:48.500 --> 00:11:55.140 to be aware of. I want to say to Acts 29 that regardless of the great people that have influenced 00:11:55.140 --> 00:12:01.740 this church and have come and done tremendous good for us, changed the way we walk. Starting today we 00:12:01.740 --> 00:12:08.540 do not copy their model. God is starting something brand new. We honor them for what they did but we 00:12:08.540 --> 00:12:14.740 are not following them anymore. I know these are really strong words coming from me but this is true. 00:12:14.740 --> 00:12:22.700 God is going to take this church and what it has become, sheerly by his grace and he's going to use 00:12:22.700 --> 00:12:30.540 this to multiply. We are not severing our connections with people from the past but we are saying that was 00:12:30.540 --> 00:12:48.620 good but a new time has come that the old does not have an idea of. Isaiah 43 verse 16 and 19. I'll 00:12:48.620 --> 00:12:52.940 give you time to ask questions. If your questions are too sticky don't ask them. Here's what the message says, this is what God says, 00:13:44.340 --> 00:13:48.420 the God who builds a road through the ocean, who carves a path through the pounding waves, the God 00:13:48.420 --> 00:13:52.900 who summons horses and chariots and armies, they lie down and they can't get up, they're snuffed out 00:13:52.900 --> 00:13:58.540 like so many candles. Forget about what's happened, don't keep going over old history. That's what I 00:13:58.540 --> 00:14:05.180 want us to remember. Forget what has happened, don't keep going over old history. God's writing 00:14:05.180 --> 00:14:10.860 afresh. God is writing afresh. I'm so looking forward to this because it's going to be an 00:14:10.860 --> 00:14:25.500 adventure. Do I worship like that because the ones that I've learned under have 00:15:12.220 --> 00:15:18.180 worshipped like that or do I start afresh because God has different orders? Let's look at the whole 00:15:18.180 --> 00:15:23.580 idea of fathers and sons, spiritual fathers and sons being a very important part of how the church 00:15:23.580 --> 00:15:28.140 is built. Great, but are there other blocks that the church must be built with in which case fathers 00:15:28.140 --> 00:15:32.900 and sons have to take its rightful place and we can't continue building on old foundations. These 00:15:32.900 --> 00:15:37.940 are foundations that were solid for our start but my God when we move into another phase we can't 00:15:37.940 --> 00:15:43.860 keep taking bricks from an old building to build new buildings. God will provide us fresh new bricks 00:15:43.860 --> 00:15:50.220 for new buildings, fresh new stones not old. I mean I was talking to Dano about this new business 00:15:50.220 --> 00:15:56.760 that he's starting and I remember God giving Dano three new things to do with his new business which 00:15:56.760 --> 00:16:05.440 cannot be like his old business even though he has prospered in his old business. It doesn't matter 00:16:05.440 --> 00:16:09.040 that it sounds abstract right now, the prophetic always sounds a little abstract when it begins but 00:16:09.040 --> 00:16:14.760 God will flesh it out. All I want us to know is we are not going to honor the traditions of the past 00:16:14.760 --> 00:16:20.040 like we have done for many years. We're going to say that was good. God you want to start a new 00:16:20.040 --> 00:16:25.200 thing. Here's a fresh piece of paper that you can start with and we'll change whatever we need to 00:16:25.200 --> 00:16:43.640 change. You know when someone throws a mantle on somebody it's different from giving the mantle 00:16:43.640 --> 00:16:48.200 to them. There was a time when Elijah gave his mantle to Elisha and Elisha became like Elijah 00:16:48.200 --> 00:16:53.760 but this is when Elijah throws his mantle on Elisha and all that God is saying to us right now is hey 00:16:53.800 --> 00:16:59.560 I'm claiming you for a new chapter. Do you want to write this or don't you? If you agree and choose 00:16:59.560 --> 00:17:04.680 to then I'll show you what needs to be done but till then I'm just claiming you for a new chapter. 00:17:04.680 --> 00:17:12.080 Do you want to respond or not? And the great thing about God bringing us through so many changes is that when 00:18:07.680 --> 00:18:16.000 he asks for Isaac it won't be hard to give. It's always hard to give up Isaac if you haven't given 00:18:16.000 --> 00:18:21.240 up Hagar, if you haven't given up Lot, if you haven't given up your country, clan and people. 00:18:21.240 --> 00:18:40.480 But if you've given all that up it's easy to give up Isaac. It's become a place where there are people of 00:20:21.200 --> 00:20:25.240 different cultures. It's become a place where even though there is no structure there's sufficient 00:20:25.240 --> 00:20:31.360 order. It's become a place where saints do the work not a few. It's become a place where the 00:20:31.360 --> 00:20:36.080 Holy Spirit can move whenever he wants, however he wants and people follow. It's become a place 00:20:36.080 --> 00:20:41.120 where things if God demands a change usually change happens. It's become a place where there's 00:20:41.120 --> 00:20:45.680 sufficient money. It's become a place where even though there are very few people in this 00:20:45.680 --> 00:20:55.400 church they're reaching into places like Lithuania which nobody goes to. It's a small miniscule church 00:20:55.400 --> 00:21:01.680 that somehow has become potent in the hands of God and whatever God wanted to accomplish in the 00:21:01.680 --> 00:21:08.720 past many years has been done and so here is what God is saying. Can we go out and stand and take a 00:21:08.720 --> 00:21:13.600 photograph and why take the photograph? Because God wants you to put this in your scrapbook as 00:21:13.640 --> 00:21:21.920 this is done. You have reached a certain place. Now in the sunset take a last look at how you 00:21:21.920 --> 00:21:30.480 looked before the new day comes and so after having understood it the second time we went out, 00:21:30.480 --> 00:21:39.480 took a photograph and it was very simple. That was the night before and now there's a new day. So now 00:21:39.480 --> 00:21:44.680 begin to walk in the light of the new things I'll place before you. Guys listen to this very carefully. The reason Abraham goes to sleep and 00:23:39.080 --> 00:23:45.360 he has dread take over him was not because he was scared but because of the heavy presence of God 00:23:45.360 --> 00:23:50.960 that he had never encountered before. Till then he was taking branches and chasing away the birds 00:23:50.960 --> 00:23:54.880 of prey that were coming to try and eat his sacrifice. He falls asleep and a dread takes 00:23:54.880 --> 00:24:00.440 over him. Sometimes God is known as the dread of Jacob. It's a name that he used to have. The dread 00:24:00.440 --> 00:24:05.720 of Jacob meaning his presence would be so terrifying. It is the same presence that they 00:24:05.720 --> 00:24:10.600 saw in Exodus 19, 18 on the Mount Sinai where the same thing happened. He wants to change praise and worship in this church. 00:36:34.720 --> 00:36:42.720 It's already changed a lot because I was so predictable. I was so grateful when first Jane came and then Emily came. 00:36:42.720 --> 00:36:50.720 But that has changed the style. It has changed worship into being worship that has simplicity. 00:36:50.720 --> 00:36:57.720 Then he added instruments and people that now play. We got almost two worship teams sometimes. 00:36:57.720 --> 00:37:04.720 All that is good. But now God wants to change not the style, but the very way worship is done. 00:37:04.720 --> 00:37:14.720 I don't even know what it looks like, but I caught a glimpse of it on Monday night when we sang, Raise a Hallelujah. 00:37:14.720 --> 00:37:18.720 I'm not saying we'll have to capture that bottle and make it happen every time. 00:37:18.720 --> 00:37:24.720 But there's something that God will want to do with regard to praise and worship in this church. 00:37:24.720 --> 00:37:31.720 Let me tell you why he's doing it. Amos 9, verse 11 and 12. 00:37:31.720 --> 00:37:36.720 It says, And then in the last days I will come and I will restore the tabernacle of David. 00:37:36.720 --> 00:37:39.720 And the tabernacle of David was famous for praise and worship. 00:37:39.720 --> 00:38:04.720 Let's go to 1 Chronicles 16, verse 1 to 7. 00:38:04.720 --> 00:38:09.720 They brought the Ark of God and set it inside the tent that David had pitched for it. 00:38:09.720 --> 00:38:13.720 And they presented burnt offerings and fellowship offerings before God. 00:38:13.720 --> 00:38:18.720 After David had finished sacrificing the burnt offerings and fellowship offerings, he blessed the people in the name of the Lord. 00:38:18.720 --> 00:38:23.720 Then he gave a loaf of bread, a cake of dates and a cake of raisins to each Israelite man and woman. 00:38:23.720 --> 00:38:30.720 He appointed some of the Levites to minister before the Ark of the Lord, to make petition, to give thanks and to praise the Lord, the God of Israel. 00:38:30.720 --> 00:38:33.720 Then Asaph was the chief, Zechariah second. 00:38:33.720 --> 00:38:40.720 Then Jeel, Shemiramoth, Jeheel, Matityah, Eliab, Benaiah, Obadiadam and Jeel. 00:38:40.720 --> 00:38:42.720 They were to play the lyres and harps. 00:38:42.720 --> 00:38:50.720 Asaph was to sound the cymbals and Benaiah and Jehaziel the priests were to blow the trumpets regularly before the Ark of the Covenant. 00:38:50.720 --> 00:38:52.720 And then go to verse 37. 00:38:52.720 --> 00:39:01.720 David left Asaph and his associates before the Ark of the Covenant of the Lord to minister there regularly according to each day's requirements. 00:39:01.720 --> 00:39:05.720 He also left Obadiadam and his 68 associates to minister with them. 00:39:05.720 --> 00:39:09.720 Obadiadam, son of Jadetham and also Hosa were gatekeepers. 00:39:09.720 --> 00:39:11.720 Look at how the message puts it. 00:39:11.720 --> 00:39:21.720 David left Asaph and his co-workers with the Ark of the Covenant of God and in charge of the work of worship, they were responsible for the needs of worship around the clock. 00:39:21.720 --> 00:39:26.720 And so when in Amos 9 verse 11 and 12 God says, 00:39:26.720 --> 00:39:30.720 In the last days I will rebuild David's fallen tent. 00:39:30.720 --> 00:39:39.720 He's talking about ordinary people declaring the praises of an extraordinary God and the night and day difference he has made in their lives. 00:39:39.720 --> 00:39:48.720 Ordinary people declaring the praises of an extraordinary God and the night and day difference he has made in their lives. 00:39:48.720 --> 00:39:56.720 And these are people who will begin to praise and worship in a way that Acts 29 has not experienced and it's going to happen. 00:39:56.720 --> 00:40:05.720 I don't know how, but I know that because we are willing and because the worship team will learn to be willing and because we as a church will respond that God will change this. 00:40:05.720 --> 00:40:06.720 God will change it. 00:40:06.720 --> 00:40:10.720 Why is he doing this? 00:40:10.720 --> 00:40:12.720 Go to Acts 15-16. 00:40:12.720 --> 00:40:13.720 Acts 15-16. 00:40:13.720 --> 00:40:16.720 Why does he want to change praise and worship? 00:40:16.720 --> 00:40:29.720 And remember praise and worship is the act of ordinary people declaring the praises of an extraordinary God and the night and day difference he has made in their lives. 00:40:29.720 --> 00:40:38.720 Sometimes after he has done a great deed, sometimes before he has done a great deed because they believe in the one who said he will. 00:40:38.720 --> 00:40:45.720 And why is it important to rebuild the tabernacle of David and launch praise and worship like we've never done before? 00:40:45.720 --> 00:40:56.720 Because it says in Acts 15-16, so that the outsiders may seek God, so that the pagans who do not believe may find him. 00:40:56.720 --> 00:40:58.720 Acts 15-16. 00:40:58.720 --> 00:41:05.720 And this is the third thing that I believe will begin to change after the conference. 00:41:06.720 --> 00:41:17.720 As we change in how we magnify him in our worship and praise, he will be lifted up and he will be known differently and he will draw men unto him. 00:41:17.720 --> 00:41:23.720 As we begin to magnify him in our worship and praise, he will be lifted up. 00:41:23.720 --> 00:41:25.720 He will be known differently. 00:41:25.720 --> 00:41:27.720 He will draw men unto him. 00:41:27.720 --> 00:41:32.720 As we change in how we magnify him in our worship and praise, he will be lifted up. 00:41:32.720 --> 00:41:37.520 be lifted up, he will be known differently and he will draw men unto him. 00:41:37.520 --> 00:41:43.260 As we change in how we magnify him in our worship and praise, he will be lifted 00:41:43.260 --> 00:41:49.840 up, he will be known differently and he will draw men unto him. And so the first thing I want to say to you, if you go down these three 00:42:12.220 --> 00:42:17.980 points, is the first point is, guys we are disconnecting from the ways and the 00:42:17.980 --> 00:42:24.380 traditions of the past brought to us by honorable men and women who built us up 00:42:24.380 --> 00:42:30.180 and we are saying thank you. But there is a new chapter, a new page, a new pathway 00:42:30.180 --> 00:42:34.900 ahead of us and we cannot walk into it as long as we are hooked on to anything 00:42:34.900 --> 00:42:41.420 from that past so we are free from it to walk into a completely new way of doing 00:42:41.420 --> 00:42:48.900 things that we are unfamiliar with. That's the first one.
