00:00:00.000 --> 00:00:01.880
Then at that point, something changes.

00:00:03.600 --> 00:00:06.960
From that point on, it's just Elisha that crosses the 50,

00:00:06.960 --> 00:00:10.720
stand on this shore and watch the rest of the proceeding.

00:00:10.720 --> 00:00:13.000
What outfits you to cross the Jordan?

00:00:13.000 --> 00:00:14.800
It's an invitation to everybody,

00:00:14.800 --> 00:00:19.080
but there is a posturing or positioning that I need to have

00:00:19.080 --> 00:00:22.400
so that I'm now equipped to cross the Jordan.

00:00:22.400 --> 00:00:24.980
And in the process, anticipate the mantle

00:00:24.980 --> 00:00:26.840
that God wants to throw my way,

00:00:26.840 --> 00:00:28.480
throw our way, throw your way.

00:00:30.080 --> 00:00:31.520
And that's what we look at today,

00:00:31.520 --> 00:00:34.960
and then we look at what actually happened next week.

00:00:34.960 --> 00:00:37.240
So it doesn't matter whether it's Gilgal Bethel Jericho,

00:00:37.240 --> 00:00:39.280
it doesn't matter whether it's Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria,

00:00:39.280 --> 00:00:40.640
and the ends of the earth.

00:00:40.640 --> 00:00:43.600
As much as we love saying it, and as much as we believe it,

00:00:43.600 --> 00:00:46.440
there is this process of us positioning ourselves

00:00:46.440 --> 00:00:50.360
or getting into this outfit where we can have that happen.

00:00:51.500 --> 00:00:54.680
And I want us to know, especially in a church like this,

00:00:54.680 --> 00:00:57.080
it's important to know that a mission trip

00:00:57.080 --> 00:00:59.480
is not what qualifies or disqualifies you,

00:00:59.520 --> 00:01:01.720
because it's very easy at Act 29 to think

00:01:01.720 --> 00:01:04.600
that I've made the cut if I go on a mission trip.

00:01:04.600 --> 00:01:09.000
No, that's not how we qualify for stuff like this.

00:01:09.000 --> 00:01:12.720
A mission trip is not what qualifies or disqualifies me

00:01:12.720 --> 00:01:14.400
from being Elisha-like.

00:01:14.400 --> 00:01:19.160
And at the end of the day, what is it to be like Elisha-like?

00:01:19.160 --> 00:01:24.160
It is to be a profitable servant, a profitable servant.

00:01:24.240 --> 00:01:25.800
That's what we're aiming at.

00:01:25.800 --> 00:01:27.520
That's what we're aiming at.

00:01:27.520 --> 00:01:29.240
He is a profitable servant

00:01:29.240 --> 00:01:32.640
that ends up getting the rights of the firstborn.

00:01:32.640 --> 00:01:33.760
You do not...

00:01:35.840 --> 00:01:38.300
The problem with today's charismatic Christianity

00:01:38.300 --> 00:01:42.740
is that we wanna be precious sons,

00:01:42.740 --> 00:01:44.660
but not profitable servants.

00:01:44.660 --> 00:01:48.120
We wanna be precious sons, but not profitable servants.

00:01:50.720 --> 00:01:53.760
But what God wants is, can I have both a profitable servant

00:01:53.760 --> 00:01:54.880
and a precious son?

00:01:55.760 --> 00:01:58.080
And you see this happening in the life of Elisha,

00:01:58.080 --> 00:01:59.400
where he's a profitable servant.

00:01:59.400 --> 00:02:01.500
All he used to do for years on end

00:02:01.500 --> 00:02:04.760
was to wash Elijah's hands, man, and wash his feet.

00:02:05.920 --> 00:02:07.680
He'd do the bidding of Elijah.

00:02:08.760 --> 00:02:10.560
So on one hand, he's a profitable servant,

00:02:10.560 --> 00:02:14.000
which we again will look at in Luke 17 10,

00:02:14.000 --> 00:02:16.360
where Jesus talks about a parable

00:02:16.360 --> 00:02:19.720
where he talks about profitable servants.

00:02:19.720 --> 00:02:21.920
But Elisha was a profitable servant,

00:02:21.960 --> 00:02:25.280
and he ends up having more than any of the other sons

00:02:25.280 --> 00:02:26.120
of the prophet.

00:02:28.000 --> 00:02:29.480
And it's a combination of both

00:02:29.480 --> 00:02:31.600
that allows you to wear the mantle.

00:02:31.600 --> 00:02:33.160
It's one thing to receive a mantle,

00:02:33.160 --> 00:02:34.220
it's another thing to wear it,

00:02:34.220 --> 00:02:36.720
because receiving a mantle doesn't mean it'll fit.

00:02:40.400 --> 00:02:41.840
I think I've said this here before,

00:02:41.840 --> 00:02:43.800
Leonard Ravenhill, when he was dying,

00:02:43.800 --> 00:02:48.080
had scores of students turn up at his door

00:02:48.080 --> 00:02:50.280
on his deathbed and plead

00:02:51.240 --> 00:02:55.280
that Leonard Ravenhill's mantle fall on them.

00:02:55.280 --> 00:02:58.280
This was the ultimate preacher in the US at that time.

00:02:58.280 --> 00:02:59.860
Nobody as fiery as him.

00:02:59.860 --> 00:03:01.640
The next guy who was anything like him

00:03:01.640 --> 00:03:02.740
was David Wilkerson.

00:03:03.680 --> 00:03:05.080
And they would plead, they'd knock on the door,

00:03:05.080 --> 00:03:07.120
wait saying, please, can I have your mantle?

00:03:07.120 --> 00:03:09.360
And his son comes in one day,

00:03:09.360 --> 00:03:11.360
his biological son walks into the room,

00:03:11.360 --> 00:03:13.080
and Leonard Ravenhill says to his son,

00:03:13.080 --> 00:03:15.840
they all want my mantle, but nobody wants my sackcloth.

00:03:16.040 --> 00:03:18.240
And you cannot have the mantle fit

00:03:18.240 --> 00:03:21.040
if I don't learn how to walk as a profitable servant.

00:03:22.160 --> 00:03:24.400
A son cannot wear his father's mantle

00:03:24.400 --> 00:03:27.240
unless he proves himself to be a profitable servant.

00:03:30.360 --> 00:03:32.920
This is why you have tons and tons of preachers

00:03:32.920 --> 00:03:35.880
who give over everything they've built

00:03:35.880 --> 00:03:39.040
to their biological sons who squander it

00:03:39.040 --> 00:03:41.520
or distort it within a matter of two years.

00:03:41.520 --> 00:03:46.520
And so going on a trip doesn't make me a profitable servant.

00:03:51.560 --> 00:03:53.680
Because in a church like this, it's easy to assume,

00:03:53.680 --> 00:03:56.320
hey, if I go on a trip, then maybe I made the cut.

00:03:56.320 --> 00:03:57.640
It ain't no cut, man.

00:03:57.640 --> 00:03:59.720
A trip doesn't mean you're a profitable servant,

00:03:59.720 --> 00:04:01.720
it means you're an able traveling servant.

00:04:03.720 --> 00:04:06.720
And so, I'm not going to be a profitable servant.

00:04:06.720 --> 00:04:08.720
I'm going to be a profitable servant.

00:04:08.720 --> 00:04:10.720
You're an able traveling servant.

00:04:11.920 --> 00:04:13.920
You're a traveling servant and you're able to travel.

00:04:13.920 --> 00:04:15.920
Great. That's all it means.

00:04:16.720 --> 00:04:17.920
Again, the same applies.

00:04:17.920 --> 00:04:20.520
Moving from Vernon or moving from Brazil

00:04:20.520 --> 00:04:23.320
or moving from Dayton or moving from South Africa

00:04:23.320 --> 00:04:24.920
to Vancouver or to New York

00:04:24.920 --> 00:04:26.720
doesn't mean you're a profitable servant.

00:04:26.720 --> 00:04:28.920
It just means that you're a faith-filled servant.

00:04:28.920 --> 00:04:30.920
You had enough faith to leave Brazil.

00:04:30.920 --> 00:04:33.320
You had enough faith to leave South Africa.

00:04:33.320 --> 00:04:36.120
You didn't have faith to leave Dayton and go to New York.

00:04:36.120 --> 00:04:38.920
You didn't have faith to leave Vernon and come here.

00:04:38.920 --> 00:04:42.120
You had faith for it, but it doesn't make you profitable.

00:04:42.120 --> 00:04:44.120
What makes you profitable is what they will do

00:04:44.120 --> 00:04:45.520
now that they've come from South Africa.

00:04:45.520 --> 00:04:47.720
What the Brazilians will do once they have come here.

00:04:47.720 --> 00:04:49.720
That's what makes you profitable.

00:04:50.320 --> 00:04:52.320
Larissa going to New York doesn't make her profitable.

00:04:52.320 --> 00:04:53.520
It just makes her full of faith.

00:04:53.520 --> 00:04:55.520
Let's see what Larissa does in New York.

00:04:56.520 --> 00:04:58.120
That's what makes us profitable.

00:04:58.120 --> 00:05:00.520
And that is what allows you to step into the next mantle

00:05:00.520 --> 00:05:02.520
that God wants to give you.

00:05:03.920 --> 00:05:05.920
That's how this works, guys.

00:05:07.120 --> 00:05:09.120
Because sometimes we

00:05:12.120 --> 00:05:17.120
conflate going on a trip with being profitable and it ain't.

00:05:19.120 --> 00:05:22.120
What qualifies me is not the objective,

00:05:22.120 --> 00:05:24.120
but how I prosecute the journey.

00:05:24.120 --> 00:05:28.120
What qualifies me is not the objective,

00:05:30.120 --> 00:05:35.120
but how I prosecute

00:05:37.120 --> 00:05:39.120
the journey.

00:05:40.120 --> 00:05:43.120
I had two incidents early in my life

00:05:43.120 --> 00:05:47.120
where I was as full of myself then as I am now.

00:05:47.120 --> 00:05:51.120
And I remember going up to this guy, Willard Thiessen.

00:05:51.120 --> 00:05:58.120
He's the one who started that Canadian TV channel.

00:05:59.120 --> 00:06:00.120
It's a new day.

00:06:00.120 --> 00:06:02.120
He was the one who started it and he came to Vancouver.

00:06:02.120 --> 00:06:07.120
And so I go up to him and full of enthusiasm

00:06:07.120 --> 00:06:09.120
and I tell him, I want you to pray for me.

00:06:09.120 --> 00:06:10.120
I'm called to the nations.

00:06:10.120 --> 00:06:11.120
I'm this and I'm that.

00:06:11.120 --> 00:06:14.120
And I just need you to lay hands on me and pray.

00:06:14.120 --> 00:06:16.120
And so he listens to it for a few minutes.

00:06:16.120 --> 00:06:19.120
He puts his hand on me, big gnarled hands.

00:06:19.120 --> 00:06:21.120
My head is big. His hand was bigger.

00:06:21.120 --> 00:06:24.120
And he puts his hand on my head and he says,

00:06:25.120 --> 00:06:28.120
Father, Jacob is so destination oriented.

00:06:28.120 --> 00:06:31.120
Can you please make him journey oriented so he enjoys it?

00:06:31.120 --> 00:06:32.120
And he walked away.

00:06:33.120 --> 00:06:38.120
I'm thinking to myself, surely you need greater anointing prayed on me.

00:06:38.120 --> 00:06:40.120
That's not what you're supposed to pray and go.

00:06:40.120 --> 00:06:42.120
It was exactly what he prayed and he walked away

00:06:42.120 --> 00:06:45.120
as if to say, you got to get your act together, man.

00:06:45.120 --> 00:06:49.120
You think so highly of yourself that if you don't forget your destination

00:06:49.120 --> 00:06:51.120
and think of your journey, you ain't going to make it.

00:06:53.120 --> 00:06:56.120
And then three years later, I'm in Surrey

00:06:56.120 --> 00:06:58.120
and there's this guy called Joshua Fowler,

00:06:58.120 --> 00:07:02.120
Joshua Fowler, prophet, apostle type.

00:07:02.120 --> 00:07:05.120
And so I go up to him after everybody's left and I go up to him and say,

00:07:05.120 --> 00:07:07.120
Joshua, I need to speak to you.

00:07:07.120 --> 00:07:09.120
You see, I'm called to the nations.

00:07:12.120 --> 00:07:16.120
And I said, I want you to pray for me and tell me how I should go about it.

00:07:17.120 --> 00:07:18.120
And he doesn't even pray for me, man.

00:07:18.120 --> 00:07:20.120
He says, start in Jerusalem.

00:07:20.120 --> 00:07:23.120
And once you have established something in Jerusalem, go to Judea,

00:07:23.120 --> 00:07:25.120
then Samaria and the ends of the earth.

00:07:25.120 --> 00:07:26.120
And he walks away.

00:07:27.120 --> 00:07:30.120
And these two men kind of deflated my bubble.

00:07:30.120 --> 00:07:34.120
But at the same time, what they said was so critical, man.

00:07:34.120 --> 00:07:36.120
Start in Jerusalem.

00:07:36.120 --> 00:07:39.120
Once you establish something in Jerusalem, then you couldn't go to Judea,

00:07:39.120 --> 00:07:41.120
Samaria and the ends of the earth.

00:07:41.120 --> 00:07:45.120
And at that time, there was squat in Jerusalem, at least in my Jerusalem.

00:07:46.120 --> 00:07:48.120
And it's the same for us, eh?

00:07:48.120 --> 00:07:51.120
So you can go on trips, you can be called to the nations,

00:07:51.120 --> 00:07:54.120
you can be the most anointed, most gifted person in this church.

00:07:54.120 --> 00:07:57.120
And yet, it means squat in terms of being a profitable servant.

00:07:58.120 --> 00:08:01.120
And you never get to wear the mantle you're supposed to wear

00:08:02.120 --> 00:08:04.120
because these two haven't combined.

00:08:05.120 --> 00:08:07.120
Any questions before we go on?

00:08:08.120 --> 00:08:10.120
You cannot go to the great prosecutor.

00:08:11.120 --> 00:08:13.120
Prosecute, let me choose a...

00:08:13.120 --> 00:08:18.120
How I outwork, how I outwork the journey.

00:08:19.120 --> 00:08:22.120
How I execute the journey, yeah.

00:08:25.120 --> 00:08:27.120
Any other questions?

00:08:32.120 --> 00:08:35.120
Any premise there that you agree with, don't agree with?

00:08:42.120 --> 00:08:43.120
No?

00:08:45.120 --> 00:08:46.120
Yeah.

00:08:46.120 --> 00:08:51.120
So for Elisha, what did be enchanting him from the other prophets?

00:08:52.120 --> 00:08:53.120
Yeah.

00:08:54.120 --> 00:09:00.120
I think one of the things about Elijah, Elisha was his readiness, his persistence.

00:09:02.120 --> 00:09:07.120
And his knowing that there was something more.

00:09:08.120 --> 00:09:10.120
That if he didn't persist, that he would not get it.

00:09:11.120 --> 00:09:13.120
And there was a readiness. He would go anywhere.

00:09:13.120 --> 00:09:16.120
And this is Elijah saying, listen, I want you to stay here.

00:09:16.120 --> 00:09:19.120
And he's saying, you can kill me. That's the only way I'll stay here.

00:09:20.120 --> 00:09:22.120
That kind of persistence?

00:09:22.120 --> 00:09:25.120
Because when he says, as the Lord lives and as you live,

00:09:26.120 --> 00:09:31.120
it is this refusal to settle for anything less.

00:09:32.120 --> 00:09:33.120
Because inside him, he knows there is more.

00:09:34.120 --> 00:09:38.120
He remembered the time Elijah, again, in a very brusque way,

00:09:39.120 --> 00:09:41.120
threw his mantle over him and started walking away.

00:09:41.120 --> 00:09:43.120
And he said, shall I say bye to my parents?

00:09:43.120 --> 00:09:45.120
And he says, I don't care.

00:09:46.120 --> 00:09:49.120
Elijah did everything in his power to make it difficult for Elisha.

00:09:50.120 --> 00:09:52.120
We must do that for the ones we are raising.

00:09:53.120 --> 00:09:55.120
In a good way.

00:09:56.120 --> 00:10:01.120
Yesterday, Tuni had eight to nine songs prepared for worship today.

00:10:01.120 --> 00:10:03.120
Eight to nine songs.

00:10:04.120 --> 00:10:09.120
And so when I heard that, I thought to myself, great, spring a surprise on him this morning.

00:10:10.120 --> 00:10:14.120
Give him three songs and tell him to work with three songs.

00:10:14.120 --> 00:10:16.120
Give it to him fifteen minutes before the worship service.

00:10:16.120 --> 00:10:19.120
And then tell him to start with free worship.

00:10:21.120 --> 00:10:23.120
And that puts pressure on him.

00:10:24.120 --> 00:10:29.120
But you do not get results until you place a demand on what already exists within the person.

00:10:30.120 --> 00:10:33.120
You're not trying to bring out from the person something that it doesn't have.

00:10:33.120 --> 00:10:36.120
You're bringing out of the person what the person already has.

00:10:37.120 --> 00:10:39.120
That's the important criteria.

00:10:39.120 --> 00:10:43.120
You cannot force someone to dance when they have two left feet.

00:10:44.120 --> 00:10:50.120
But if they have two, not two right feet, if they have one left feet and one right foot, then well, get them to dance, man.

00:10:50.120 --> 00:10:52.120
They have it in them.

00:10:52.120 --> 00:10:54.120
Tuni has it in him.

00:10:57.120 --> 00:10:59.120
That's how this works.

00:11:00.120 --> 00:11:02.120
And when demand is placed, you only have two reactions.

00:11:02.120 --> 00:11:05.120
Leave me alone or I can't go that far.

00:11:05.120 --> 00:11:07.120
Just let me go till here.

00:11:07.120 --> 00:11:09.120
Or do what you want with me.

00:11:13.120 --> 00:11:15.120
That's how this works.

00:11:16.120 --> 00:11:19.120
Fortunately, Tuni's attitude is, do what you want with me.

00:11:19.120 --> 00:11:25.120
And we'll talk about why Elisha got to see what he got to see in detail next week.

00:11:25.120 --> 00:11:30.120
But how do we position ourselves so that when we come to the job and we are still the ones that cross over?

00:11:31.120 --> 00:11:39.120
Guys, one of the fears we must have, it's a healthy fear to have, is that there is going to be a day of reckoning.

00:11:39.120 --> 00:11:41.120
Not for the world.

00:11:41.120 --> 00:11:43.120
Not for the world.

00:11:43.120 --> 00:11:48.120
And here is what it will look like based on 2 Corinthians 5.

00:11:48.120 --> 00:11:51.120
It will be, this is what I gave you, Jacob.

00:11:51.120 --> 00:11:53.120
This is what I had planned for you.

00:11:53.120 --> 00:11:57.120
These were the days that I had numbered for you.

00:11:57.120 --> 00:12:03.120
These were the paths that I prepared, the good works I prepared for you to do before the foundations of the earth.

00:12:03.120 --> 00:12:05.120
It is a healthy fear to have.

00:12:05.120 --> 00:12:07.120
And it's a healthy fear to have.

00:12:07.120 --> 00:12:09.120
It's a healthy fear to have.

00:12:09.120 --> 00:12:13.120
These are the good works I prepared for you to do before the foundations of the earth.

00:12:13.120 --> 00:12:15.120
It was supposed to be for the sake of the kingdom.

00:12:15.120 --> 00:12:19.120
It was supposed to happen in the context of the body.

00:12:19.120 --> 00:12:21.120
These things are very final.

00:12:21.120 --> 00:12:23.120
There is no shift or change in this.

00:12:23.120 --> 00:12:27.120
Now Jacob, tell me, what did you do with it?

00:12:27.120 --> 00:12:29.120
Oh, so you were a pastor.

00:12:29.120 --> 00:12:30.120
Great.

00:12:30.120 --> 00:12:33.120
Do you remember that parable in Luke 12 where I said,

00:12:33.120 --> 00:12:37.120
When the master goes away and leaves the house in charge of a steward,

00:12:37.120 --> 00:12:40.120
does he mistreat his servants?

00:12:40.120 --> 00:12:41.120
Does he feed them?

00:12:41.120 --> 00:12:42.120
Does he not feed them?

00:12:42.120 --> 00:12:46.120
What did you do?

00:12:46.120 --> 00:12:48.120
These are the questions and there is no escaping this.

00:12:48.120 --> 00:12:50.120
I want us to be aware of this.

00:12:50.120 --> 00:12:52.120
Because when she comes up and says,

00:12:52.120 --> 00:12:54.120
there is momentum, wake up, wake up.

00:12:54.120 --> 00:12:56.120
It is to wake up to these facts too.

00:12:56.120 --> 00:12:59.120
That there is a reckoning.

00:12:59.120 --> 00:13:03.120
And it is a healthy fear because we will give account.

00:13:03.120 --> 00:13:05.120
We will give account.

00:13:05.120 --> 00:13:08.120
It is not an account that has us lose our eternal salvation.

00:13:08.120 --> 00:13:10.120
That is secure in Christ.

00:13:10.120 --> 00:13:18.120
But there is something to pleasing the one that we will now see face to face.

00:13:18.120 --> 00:13:25.120
There is something to being given things to rule over based on how I did here.

00:13:25.120 --> 00:13:27.120
Not because I want to rule.

00:13:27.120 --> 00:13:29.120
All those ruling things are here on earth.

00:13:29.120 --> 00:13:32.120
There it will be just this amazing responsibility you want to discharge.

00:13:32.120 --> 00:13:36.120
Just like a child discharges a responsibility that you give the child at home.

00:13:36.120 --> 00:13:39.120
He loves doing it for his father.

00:13:39.120 --> 00:13:43.120
And there is a deep regret of things not done.

00:13:43.120 --> 00:13:45.120
I hate that.

00:13:45.120 --> 00:13:48.120
A deep regret of paths not traversed.

00:13:48.120 --> 00:13:53.120
That I hate.

00:13:53.120 --> 00:13:56.120
I can't imagine what Moses went through

00:13:56.120 --> 00:14:00.120
and met him face to face and realized he didn't lead them into the promised land.

00:14:00.120 --> 00:14:02.120
Another guy that blows my mind.

00:14:02.120 --> 00:14:10.120
I can't imagine what Ravi Zacharias said when he met Jesus face to face.

00:14:10.120 --> 00:14:12.120
What do you stand there with?

00:14:12.120 --> 00:14:13.120
Books?

00:14:13.120 --> 00:14:15.120
Souls saved?

00:14:15.120 --> 00:14:21.120
What do you stand there with?

00:14:21.120 --> 00:14:24.120
These are the things that put the fear of the living God in me.

00:14:24.120 --> 00:14:28.120
It's not necessarily scriptural because 2 Corinthians 5 says it.

00:14:28.120 --> 00:14:32.120
When you stand before the Baima Judgment,

00:14:32.120 --> 00:14:34.120
it is not about your eternal security.

00:14:34.120 --> 00:14:36.120
But there is a giving of account.

00:14:36.120 --> 00:14:40.120
So Paul says, I approach this with fear and trembling.

00:14:40.120 --> 00:14:42.120
And I warn others.

00:14:42.120 --> 00:14:44.120
So I'm not putting something on you.

00:14:44.120 --> 00:14:48.120
I'm just giving you 2 Corinthians 5.

00:14:48.120 --> 00:14:53.120
Moving on.

00:14:53.120 --> 00:14:56.120
How do we then prepare ourselves to cross the Jordan?

00:14:56.120 --> 00:14:59.120
The first, remember, our intent is to be profitable servants.

00:14:59.120 --> 00:15:01.120
Because we are already precious sons.

00:15:01.120 --> 00:15:03.120
We are already precious sons.

00:15:03.120 --> 00:15:06.120
So the idea of being profitable servants.

00:15:06.120 --> 00:15:08.120
What does a profitable servant look like?

00:15:08.120 --> 00:15:10.120
Based on Luke 12, which we will shortly read,

00:15:10.120 --> 00:15:19.120
you're dressed, you're ready, you're resourced, and you're alert.

00:15:19.120 --> 00:15:23.120
You're dressed, you're ready, you're resourced, and you're alert.

00:15:23.120 --> 00:15:24.120
What do you mean resourced?

00:15:24.120 --> 00:15:26.120
Let's go to Luke 12.

00:15:26.120 --> 00:15:31.120
Luke 12.

00:15:31.120 --> 00:15:40.120
Verse 35.

00:15:40.120 --> 00:15:42.120
Reading from the NIV.

00:15:42.120 --> 00:15:45.120
Be dressed, ready for service, and keep your lamps burning,

00:15:45.120 --> 00:15:49.120
like servants waiting for their master to return from a wedding banquet.

00:15:49.120 --> 00:15:53.120
So that when he comes and knocks, they can immediately open the door for him.

00:15:53.120 --> 00:15:55.120
As in, be ready with your lamps burning.

00:15:55.120 --> 00:15:58.120
As in, I'm not preparing for a mission trip.

00:15:58.120 --> 00:16:00.120
I'm not preparing for a Sunday service.

00:16:00.120 --> 00:16:02.120
I'm not preparing for an event.

00:16:02.120 --> 00:16:06.120
This is the condition that you and I always are in.

00:16:06.120 --> 00:16:07.120
Resourced.

00:16:07.120 --> 00:16:09.120
Enough for the Spirit of God.

00:16:09.120 --> 00:16:10.120
Active in my life throughout.

00:16:10.120 --> 00:16:13.120
So at a moment's call, when the master returns,

00:16:13.120 --> 00:16:16.120
I am resourced, I'm ready, I'm dressed for the occasion.

00:16:16.120 --> 00:16:18.120
And I love this next line, eh?

00:16:18.120 --> 00:16:22.120
It will be good for those servants whose master finds them watching when he comes.

00:16:22.120 --> 00:16:25.120
Truly, I tell you, he will dress himself to serve,

00:16:25.120 --> 00:16:27.120
and we'll have them recline at the table and come and wait on him.

00:16:27.120 --> 00:16:29.120
Just think of the reversal there.

00:16:29.120 --> 00:16:32.120
You're waiting for the master, ready, resourced, dressed, and alert.

00:16:32.120 --> 00:16:35.120
And once he sees you like that, the master begins to serve you.

00:16:35.120 --> 00:16:38.120
Why? Because the moment I'm a profitable servant,

00:16:38.120 --> 00:16:41.120
when God comes and he becomes my father and he serves the sons.

00:16:41.120 --> 00:16:45.120
This is so easily interchangeably.

00:16:45.120 --> 00:16:48.120
You have the attitude of a profitable servant.

00:16:48.120 --> 00:16:51.120
You're there waiting, dressed, resourced, ready, alert.

00:16:51.120 --> 00:16:53.120
And the moment he sees you like that and he comes in,

00:16:53.120 --> 00:16:57.120
instead of saying, okay, now take off my shoes, give me a massage, take my socks off,

00:16:57.120 --> 00:16:59.120
he says, guys, settle down.

00:16:59.120 --> 00:17:01.120
I'm glad that you are profitable servants,

00:17:01.120 --> 00:17:04.120
but can I just switch roles now where you take the place of sons,

00:17:04.120 --> 00:17:07.120
I become the father, and I serve you.

00:17:07.120 --> 00:17:10.120
And when he sees the sons, I become the father, and I serve you.

00:17:12.120 --> 00:17:15.120
Shifts in a second, God begins to serve you.

00:17:17.120 --> 00:17:21.120
Because in this kingdom, everybody is servant and son, and son and servant.

00:17:23.120 --> 00:17:25.120
That's how this works.

00:17:29.120 --> 00:17:33.120
So, second one.

00:17:34.120 --> 00:17:37.120
Embrace the priesthood. Embrace.

00:17:37.120 --> 00:17:39.120
Hey, can we turn the air conditioning on?

00:17:40.120 --> 00:17:42.120
Embrace the priesthood.

00:17:43.120 --> 00:17:45.120
Embrace the priesthood.

00:17:46.120 --> 00:17:49.120
Embrace the priesthood. As in, go to 1 Peter 2, 5.

00:17:49.120 --> 00:17:52.120
1 Peter 2, 5, and read it from the message.

00:17:52.120 --> 00:17:54.120
I love the way it says it there.

00:17:54.120 --> 00:17:56.120
1 Peter 2, 5.

00:18:00.120 --> 00:18:02.120
1 Peter 2, 5.

00:18:03.120 --> 00:18:06.120
Embrace the priesthood. As in, know what you are a part of.

00:18:06.120 --> 00:18:09.120
Allow yourself to be placed.

00:18:09.120 --> 00:18:11.120
1 Peter 2, 5, from the message.

00:18:11.120 --> 00:18:13.120
Present yourselves, and it's talking to each of us.

00:18:13.120 --> 00:18:19.120
Present yourselves as building stones for the construction of a sanctuary,

00:18:19.120 --> 00:18:23.120
vibrant with life, in which you will serve as holy priests,

00:18:23.120 --> 00:18:26.120
offering Christ-approved lives up to God.

00:18:26.120 --> 00:18:31.120
Present yourselves as building stones for the construction of a sanctuary,

00:18:31.120 --> 00:18:35.120
vibrant with life, in which you will serve as holy priests,

00:18:35.120 --> 00:18:38.120
offering Christ-approved lives up to God.

00:18:38.120 --> 00:18:41.120
And so the intent is, hey, embrace the priesthood.

00:18:41.120 --> 00:18:44.120
As in, know that you are a living stone.

00:18:44.120 --> 00:18:46.120
Know that this sanctuary cannot be built by you.

00:18:46.120 --> 00:18:51.120
Know that if you are part of this and allow yourselves to be placed where God wants to place you,

00:18:51.120 --> 00:18:53.120
then this sanctuary will be complete.

00:18:53.120 --> 00:18:57.120
Know that God will begin to fill this place like he cannot otherwise.

00:18:57.120 --> 00:19:04.120
But to be absolutely available for placement is critical to Cross the Jordan.

00:19:04.120 --> 00:19:06.120
Elisha was ready for anything, man.

00:19:13.120 --> 00:19:18.120
What would be the use if Elisha gave up 12 yoke of oxen and joined Elijah and didn't Cross the Jordan?

00:19:18.120 --> 00:19:20.120
Can you imagine the loss?

00:19:20.120 --> 00:19:22.120
Just think of that for a second.

00:19:22.120 --> 00:19:24.120
He gives up the 12 yoke of oxen.

00:19:24.120 --> 00:19:26.120
He's given up his business.

00:19:26.120 --> 00:19:29.120
Maybe he had all 12 yoke of oxen or maybe he had one.

00:19:29.120 --> 00:19:33.120
Don't know. But let's assume that he had all 12 yoke of oxen, that he was a rich guy.

00:19:33.120 --> 00:19:40.120
He gives it all up, leaves his father and mother, leaves his land, comes to a new place with Elijah,

00:19:40.120 --> 00:19:43.120
and then doesn't Cross the Jordan.

00:19:51.120 --> 00:19:53.120
Can you imagine?

00:19:56.120 --> 00:20:03.120
Embrace the priesthood. Allow yourselves to be placed.

00:20:03.120 --> 00:20:07.120
If I hold back from being placed, two things happen.

00:20:07.120 --> 00:20:09.120
I don't get to be living.

00:20:09.120 --> 00:20:16.120
And two, I don't allow God to do what he can with a group of people.

00:20:16.120 --> 00:20:19.120
I don't get to be living. Why do I say that? I don't get to be living.

00:20:19.120 --> 00:20:24.120
Because guys, the strange thing with living stones, God doesn't build anything with bricks.

00:20:24.120 --> 00:20:26.120
Every one of us is different.

00:20:26.120 --> 00:20:29.120
He has to take very different people and put them together.

00:20:29.120 --> 00:20:33.120
And in Hebrew understanding, if stones...

00:20:33.120 --> 00:20:40.120
You can have a very polished stone, but if stones don't touch each other, they're not living. They're dead.

00:20:40.120 --> 00:20:42.120
Stones that are not touching each other.

00:20:42.120 --> 00:20:46.120
If stones are not connected, they are dead.

00:20:46.120 --> 00:20:50.120
So a stone that sits by itself, as brilliant as it is, is dead.

00:20:50.120 --> 00:20:55.120
Living stones are stones that are being put together to build something.

00:20:55.120 --> 00:21:01.120
And so if I hold back, I'm losing out on real life.

00:21:04.120 --> 00:21:07.120
I must allow myself to be placed.

00:21:07.120 --> 00:21:11.120
Sometimes placed to wash someone's hands, feet.

00:21:11.120 --> 00:21:14.120
Sometimes to do more.

00:21:14.120 --> 00:21:18.120
I must allow myself to be placed.

00:21:20.120 --> 00:21:23.120
I'll take one more and then if you have questions, feel free to ask.

00:21:23.120 --> 00:21:27.120
Third, cleansed vessels.

00:21:27.120 --> 00:21:31.120
Cleansed vessels.

00:21:31.120 --> 00:21:36.120
2 Timothy 2, 19-21.

00:21:36.120 --> 00:21:40.120
You know, at the end of the day, it doesn't matter what you talk about.

00:21:40.120 --> 00:21:43.120
Some of the points are just common to every teaching that you can teach.

00:21:43.120 --> 00:21:46.120
Cleansed vessels. 2 Timothy 2, 19-21.

00:21:46.120 --> 00:21:48.120
Let me go there.

00:21:48.120 --> 00:21:51.120
It is so self-explanatory.

00:21:51.120 --> 00:21:54.120
2 Timothy 2, 19-21.

00:21:54.120 --> 00:21:58.120
Meanwhile, God's firm foundation is as firm as ever.

00:21:58.120 --> 00:22:01.120
Let me read it from the NIV.

00:22:01.120 --> 00:22:06.120
Nevertheless, God's solid foundation stands firm, sealed with this inscription.

00:22:06.120 --> 00:22:12.120
The Lord knows those who are His, and everyone who confesses the name of the Lord

00:22:12.120 --> 00:22:15.120
must turn away from wickedness.

00:22:15.120 --> 00:22:20.120
In the large house there are articles, not only of gold and silver, but also of wood and clay.

00:22:20.120 --> 00:22:24.120
Some for special purposes, some for common use.

00:22:24.120 --> 00:22:29.120
Those who cleanse themselves from the latter will be instruments for special purposes,

00:22:29.120 --> 00:22:33.120
made holy, useful to the master, prepared to do any good work.

00:22:33.120 --> 00:22:34.120
One more time.

00:22:34.120 --> 00:22:39.120
Nevertheless, God's solid foundation stands firm, sealed with this inscription.

00:22:39.120 --> 00:22:43.120
The Lord knows those who are His, and everyone who confesses the name of the Lord

00:22:43.120 --> 00:22:45.120
must turn away from wickedness.

00:22:45.120 --> 00:22:50.120
In the large house there are articles, not only of gold and silver, but also of wood and clay.

00:22:50.120 --> 00:22:53.120
Some for special purposes, and some for common use.

00:22:53.120 --> 00:22:57.120
Those who cleanse themselves from the latter will be instruments for special purposes,

00:22:57.120 --> 00:23:01.120
made holy, useful to the master, prepared to do any good work.

00:23:01.120 --> 00:23:04.120
So clear, man.

00:23:04.120 --> 00:23:06.120
So clear.

00:23:06.120 --> 00:23:11.120
That's what allows you to cross the Jordan, eh?

00:23:11.120 --> 00:23:15.120
We had another guy who was supposed to become the next Elisha.

00:23:15.120 --> 00:23:19.120
His name was Gehazi.

00:23:19.120 --> 00:23:26.120
But the problem with Gehazi was that when it came to being a clean vessel, he failed.

00:23:26.120 --> 00:23:31.120
So a man who was supposed to be now perhaps the inheritor of another double portion,

00:23:31.120 --> 00:23:35.120
from the man who inherited a double portion, ends up being a leper.

00:23:35.120 --> 00:23:40.120
He still does good, but he ends up being a leper.

00:23:40.120 --> 00:23:45.120
There is something to clean vessels that allows you to cross the Jordan.

00:23:45.120 --> 00:23:50.120
How do you wear a mantle without that?

00:23:50.120 --> 00:23:54.120
It don't fit, man. It'll begin to itch.

00:23:54.120 --> 00:24:06.120
The problem with holy mantles on an unholy body is that the body begins to itch.

00:24:06.120 --> 00:24:12.120
Any questions, guys, before we take the next three?

00:24:12.120 --> 00:24:17.120
Guys, we don't become this in a day, but God notices the intent of my heart.

00:24:17.120 --> 00:24:19.120
We don't become this in a day.

00:24:19.120 --> 00:24:23.120
Don't think that, okay, so now I'm done because I ain't going to make this cut.

00:24:23.120 --> 00:24:25.120
It's not making the cut.

00:24:25.120 --> 00:24:27.120
You know why it's not making the cut?

00:24:27.120 --> 00:24:29.120
Because we're not in the Old Testament anymore.

00:24:29.120 --> 00:24:31.120
We don't have to reach a mark.

00:24:31.120 --> 00:24:33.120
We have already been made holy.

00:24:33.120 --> 00:24:34.120
We've got to live it.

00:24:34.120 --> 00:24:37.120
It means to look at my heart and say, boy, this guy has a desire to run.

00:24:37.120 --> 00:24:41.120
Sure, he's falling, but every time he falls, he comes back to me, gets up and starts running.

00:24:41.120 --> 00:24:43.120
That's what he's looking for.

00:24:43.120 --> 00:24:47.120
Because there are no marked levels in New Testament Christianity anymore.

00:24:47.120 --> 00:24:50.120
Because the level was here and only one could reach it.

00:24:50.120 --> 00:24:52.120
He reached it and he lives in me.

00:24:52.120 --> 00:24:55.120
Now the question is, do I passionately desire that?

00:24:55.120 --> 00:24:58.120
So I don't have to become this tomorrow because I already am it.

00:24:58.120 --> 00:25:00.120
I have to live it out.

00:25:05.120 --> 00:25:10.120
So sometimes when you hear this, you immediately start disqualifying yourself.

00:25:10.120 --> 00:25:14.120
Instead of that, my heart should begin to leap saying, I was this way today.

00:25:14.120 --> 00:25:17.120
Tomorrow I get a chance to be better than I am today.

00:25:17.120 --> 00:25:22.120
And that the Spirit of God can do because that's what he does with expectation and hope.

00:25:23.120 --> 00:25:28.120
One of the things that perhaps we should try to do when we listen to a teaching is say to the Holy Spirit,

00:25:28.120 --> 00:25:32.120
Spirit of God, could you take what is being spoken and what is true

00:25:32.120 --> 00:25:37.120
and begin to create expectation and hope in my heart so that my life begins to gallop?

00:25:41.120 --> 00:25:44.120
And could you help me to stay awake for the next 20 minutes?

00:25:49.120 --> 00:25:51.120
Okay, next one.

00:25:53.120 --> 00:25:55.120
This is a...

00:26:01.120 --> 00:26:03.120
We should be teachers by now.

00:26:03.120 --> 00:26:08.120
If you've been in this church for two or two and a half years, you should be teachers by now.

00:26:08.120 --> 00:26:14.120
Paul says this in Hebrews 5, sorry, Hebrews 5, 12 to 14.

00:26:14.120 --> 00:26:19.120
He says, hey, I wish I could feed you meat but I still have to feed you milk.

00:26:19.120 --> 00:26:23.120
You should be teachers by now. You should be able to discern between right and wrong.

00:26:23.120 --> 00:26:27.120
You shouldn't be... And different parts of the epistle he then says that

00:26:27.120 --> 00:26:31.120
I don't want you to return to the fundamentals. You already know the fundamentals.

00:26:31.120 --> 00:26:36.120
Anybody who's been in this church for two and a half years should be able to teach and instruct.

00:26:38.120 --> 00:26:42.120
I'm not saying you have to take the position of a teacher, but surely we should be able to teach and instruct.

00:26:42.120 --> 00:26:45.120
And I believe most of us can.

00:26:46.120 --> 00:26:50.120
Ezra 7, 10. I'm beginning to really like that verse.

00:26:50.120 --> 00:26:56.120
Ezra 7, 10. He was called out by God to lead Israel and here's what it says in Ezra 7, 10.

00:26:56.120 --> 00:26:59.120
Ezra decided that from now on he was going to study the word.

00:26:59.120 --> 00:27:02.120
He was going to study the word so that he could do it.

00:27:02.120 --> 00:27:06.120
He was going to study the word so that he could do it and then instruct others.

00:27:06.120 --> 00:27:09.120
Brilliant, man! Isn't that the formula?

00:27:09.120 --> 00:27:13.120
I will now study the word. I will study the word so I can do it.

00:27:13.120 --> 00:27:16.120
I will study the word so I can do it and then teach others.

00:27:16.120 --> 00:27:20.120
This is not an Ezra thing. This is a common thing for all New Testament believers.

00:27:20.120 --> 00:27:22.120
Ezra 7, 10.

00:27:30.120 --> 00:27:32.120
Next one.

00:27:36.120 --> 00:27:40.120
Have an increasing idea of your giftedness.

00:27:40.120 --> 00:27:44.120
Have an increasing idea of your giftedness.

00:27:44.120 --> 00:27:47.120
What are you gifted at? Do you have an idea?

00:27:47.120 --> 00:27:58.120
You must have an idea, have a grasp of your giftedness and calling.

00:27:58.120 --> 00:28:00.120
Hey, is the AC on?

00:28:00.120 --> 00:28:09.120
Is it cold? It's on, eh? Gosh, I must be preaching up a storm.

00:28:09.120 --> 00:28:12.120
At least here in this area. It's a hot storm.

00:28:12.120 --> 00:28:15.120
Have a grasp of your giftedness and calling.

00:28:15.120 --> 00:28:19.120
All you guys are cold?

00:28:19.120 --> 00:28:28.120
No, Sheldon, you could put him on the North Pole and he'd still take his thing off.

00:28:28.120 --> 00:28:34.120
Yeah, guys, have an increasing grasp of your giftedness and calling.

00:28:34.120 --> 00:28:38.120
Have an increasingly clear grasp of your giftedness and your calling.

00:28:38.120 --> 00:28:42.120
What are you supposed to steward in this season of your life?

00:28:42.120 --> 00:28:47.120
What are you supposed to steward in this season of your life?

00:28:52.120 --> 00:28:55.120
What are you supposed to steward in this season of your life?

00:28:55.120 --> 00:28:58.120
Why? Because without knowing it, you can't pour it out.

00:28:59.120 --> 00:29:06.120
If you don't know it, you can't pour it.

00:29:10.120 --> 00:29:16.120
I went to a restaurant here on Fraser once with some friends and there was some tea there.

00:29:16.120 --> 00:29:22.120
I was going to drink the tea and so I asked the lady about the container that was on the table.

00:29:22.120 --> 00:29:24.120
I said, is it sugar or salt?

00:29:24.120 --> 00:29:29.120
And she's the lady who's in charge of serving there and she said, I don't know.

00:29:29.120 --> 00:29:34.120
And so I'm thinking to myself, okay, so there's a container there.

00:29:34.120 --> 00:29:36.120
It has some white substance in it.

00:29:36.120 --> 00:29:39.120
I'm asking her whether it's sugar or salt because salt doesn't go well with masala tea.

00:29:39.120 --> 00:29:42.120
And so I'm asking her, is it sugar or salt?

00:29:42.120 --> 00:29:45.120
She says, I don't know. It wasn't even, let me try.

00:29:45.120 --> 00:29:46.120
It was, I don't know.

00:29:46.120 --> 00:29:51.120
And now I'm thinking to myself, okay, do not put it in the tea until you sprinkle it and lick it.

00:29:51.120 --> 00:29:56.120
But the point is, if you do not know what is in the container, you do not know how to pour it out,

00:29:56.120 --> 00:29:59.120
where to pour it out, when to pour it out, how much to pour out.

00:30:00.120 --> 00:30:07.120
And so it is important that I increasingly get to know the giftedness and the calling of my life

00:30:07.120 --> 00:30:11.120
and that I also know what I'm supposed to steward in this season of my life.

00:30:11.120 --> 00:30:13.120
Because if I don't know, I cannot pour it out.

00:30:14.120 --> 00:30:22.120
And may I say to us here that some of us do not know our giftedness and your giftedness and calling.

00:30:22.120 --> 00:30:23.120
We do not know.

00:30:25.120 --> 00:30:28.120
And on one hand, it's a safe place to live.

00:30:28.120 --> 00:30:31.120
If you do not know your giftedness and calling, you can just coast.

00:30:32.120 --> 00:30:35.120
But if you know your giftedness and calling, then you can't coast.

00:30:37.120 --> 00:30:41.120
Because if you have a pickup in this church, you know what will happen to you.

00:30:42.120 --> 00:30:44.120
If you have a truck in this church, you know what will happen to you.

00:30:44.120 --> 00:30:46.120
Every time someone moves, you get called.

00:30:47.120 --> 00:30:49.120
If you're a mechanic, you know what's going to happen to you.

00:30:52.120 --> 00:30:54.120
Brandon's not here.

00:30:56.120 --> 00:30:58.120
I mean, that's how it works, guys.

00:30:58.120 --> 00:31:00.120
Once you know your giftedness and calling, you're stuck.

00:31:00.120 --> 00:31:01.120
You cannot coast.

00:31:02.120 --> 00:31:05.120
Every time someone has a problem, you're the one they'll come to.

00:31:06.120 --> 00:31:12.120
So the best way to live a Christian life that is undisturbed is not to discover your giftedness and calling.

00:31:15.120 --> 00:31:16.120
That way...

00:31:16.120 --> 00:31:18.120
But the problem is you don't steward your...

00:31:19.120 --> 00:31:20.120
Steward the seasons of your life.

00:31:21.120 --> 00:31:24.120
And therefore, you never cross the Jordan. Never.

00:31:25.120 --> 00:31:26.120
But one of the ways...

00:31:27.120 --> 00:31:28.120
Now, here's the catch.

00:31:28.120 --> 00:31:34.120
The only way you can discover your giftedness and calling is by someone placing a demand on what is your giftedness and calling.

00:31:36.120 --> 00:31:38.120
And that's something we shy away from.

00:31:38.120 --> 00:31:40.120
Why? Because the demand is never fun.

00:31:41.120 --> 00:31:45.120
So if she has a giftedness and calling, and I go place a demand on it, she's got only two choices.

00:31:46.120 --> 00:31:48.120
Either say, okay, I'm going to be...

00:31:48.120 --> 00:31:52.120
Because remember, nothing of the Holy Spirit will flow out unless you're foolish.

00:31:54.120 --> 00:31:58.120
Foolishness provokes the Spirit of God, and foolishness provokes the life of the Spirit of God in you.

00:31:58.120 --> 00:32:00.120
No foolishness, no outflow.

00:32:00.120 --> 00:32:02.120
No outflow, no need for inflow.

00:32:02.120 --> 00:32:03.120
No need for inflow.

00:32:04.120 --> 00:32:08.120
No foolishness, no outflow, no outflow, no need for inflow.

00:32:10.120 --> 00:32:11.120
Reducing that inscription.

00:32:12.120 --> 00:32:13.120
Oh, plenty of places.

00:32:14.120 --> 00:32:21.120
Right from Hebrews 11, throughout Hebrews 11, right through Jesus' life where he says, count the cost.

00:32:21.120 --> 00:32:25.120
And after you count the cost, recognize that you are unable to pay it.

00:32:25.120 --> 00:32:27.120
And now that you're unable to pay it, follow me.

00:32:27.120 --> 00:32:28.120
Follow me.

00:32:28.120 --> 00:32:34.120
Hebrews 11, every time the Holy Spirit moved on anybody in Hebrews 11, they had to do really foolish things.

00:32:35.120 --> 00:32:44.120
From Abraham to Joshua to Noah to Joseph to Moses to Moses' parents to Samson to Gideon to all the guys.

00:32:45.120 --> 00:32:49.120
All of them had to step into foolishness before the Spirit of God took over.

00:32:50.120 --> 00:32:51.120
Because what does foolishness do?

00:32:51.120 --> 00:32:54.120
Foolishness takes away my dependence on my own skills.

00:32:54.120 --> 00:33:00.120
At the end of the day, the opposite of faith is not doubt, the opposite of faith is not fear, the opposite of faith is self-reliance.

00:33:01.120 --> 00:33:04.120
And foolishness strips away self-reliance.

00:33:06.120 --> 00:33:08.120
Again and again and again.

00:33:16.120 --> 00:33:17.120
Okay, so let's go with risk.

00:33:17.120 --> 00:33:22.120
Maybe in my mind the word is foolishness, but maybe that's not a good word.

00:33:22.120 --> 00:33:23.120
So let's go with risk.

00:33:24.120 --> 00:33:28.120
Because it's perhaps more definitive of what these guys did in Hebrews 11.

00:33:28.120 --> 00:33:29.120
So let's go with risk.

00:33:30.120 --> 00:33:31.120
Risk.

00:33:34.120 --> 00:33:35.120
Yeah.

00:33:35.120 --> 00:33:36.120
Yeah.

00:33:36.120 --> 00:33:41.120
I think you can't take a risk without being foolish because you're abandoning some reason.

00:33:42.120 --> 00:33:43.120
Yeah.

00:33:43.120 --> 00:33:44.120
Yeah.

00:33:44.120 --> 00:33:45.120
But let's go with risk.

00:33:45.120 --> 00:33:46.120
Yeah.

00:33:46.120 --> 00:33:47.120
Yeah.

00:33:47.120 --> 00:33:52.120
But let's go with risk because you can put foolishness in risk, but you can't put risk in foolishness sometimes.

00:33:53.120 --> 00:33:54.120
So let's go with risk.

00:33:55.120 --> 00:33:56.120
Yeah.

00:33:58.120 --> 00:33:59.120
Yeah.

00:34:02.120 --> 00:34:04.120
So if you don't know, you can't pour it out.

00:34:04.120 --> 00:34:10.120
So now what happens is if you say, hey, I want to discover my gift in the name of Jesus, I want to do it.

00:34:10.120 --> 00:34:18.120
Let's assume after the service, Matt comes up and says to me, hey, I want to discover my giftedness and calling, and I want to steward the season of my life.

00:34:18.120 --> 00:34:20.120
And I know it's more than doing a thesis.

00:34:20.120 --> 00:34:22.120
And now he comes and I say, great.

00:34:22.120 --> 00:34:25.120
Now that you've registered yourself, you went to Dayton last time.

00:34:25.120 --> 00:34:27.120
Let me send you to Timbuktu tomorrow.

00:34:28.120 --> 00:34:30.120
And behold, the games begin.

00:34:33.120 --> 00:34:35.120
This is not some random thing.

00:34:35.120 --> 00:34:37.120
You have to find out what God has for Matt.

00:34:37.120 --> 00:34:38.120
Matt did this.

00:34:38.120 --> 00:34:42.120
He sat at this cafe in Richmond and said, sign me up for foolishness.

00:34:42.120 --> 00:34:44.120
Oh, sign me up for risk.

00:34:44.120 --> 00:34:45.120
Yeah.

00:34:48.120 --> 00:34:49.120
Okay.

00:34:49.120 --> 00:34:50.120
Next one.

00:34:50.120 --> 00:34:51.120
This is how we cross the Jordan.

00:34:51.120 --> 00:34:57.120
Otherwise, we come to Gilgash, to Bethel, to Jericho, and we stop there and we watch one man cross across and we wave at him.

00:34:59.120 --> 00:35:00.120
This is how we cross the Jordan.

00:35:00.120 --> 00:35:02.120
We watch one man cross across and we wave at him.

00:35:05.120 --> 00:35:06.120
It's too high a cost to pay, man.

00:35:06.120 --> 00:35:13.120
After all you've left to wear the same clothes for the next 20 years, no thank you.

00:35:16.120 --> 00:35:18.120
Everyone here sitting here has paid a very high cost.

00:35:22.120 --> 00:35:23.120
Very high cost.

00:35:23.120 --> 00:35:24.120
All of us.

00:35:24.120 --> 00:35:25.120
Some of you more than others.

00:35:28.120 --> 00:35:29.120
Next one.

00:35:29.120 --> 00:35:31.120
Rising up in maturity.

00:35:31.120 --> 00:35:32.120
Rising up in maturity.

00:35:32.120 --> 00:35:34.120
Rising up in maturity.

00:35:34.120 --> 00:35:38.120
We won't go into details, but maturity may be defined in very simple ways.

00:35:38.120 --> 00:35:41.120
End of self-preservation.

00:35:41.120 --> 00:35:42.120
Very, very difficult.

00:35:42.120 --> 00:35:44.120
This is why we'll do it for the rest of our lives.

00:35:44.120 --> 00:35:47.120
End of self-determination.

00:35:47.120 --> 00:35:49.120
End of self-preservation.

00:35:49.120 --> 00:35:51.120
End of self-determination.

00:35:51.120 --> 00:35:53.120
End of self-determination.

00:35:53.120 --> 00:36:01.120
Very difficult because you're saying I'm no longer the one who determines how my life goes.

00:36:01.120 --> 00:36:04.120
And end of taking offense.

00:36:04.120 --> 00:36:07.120
Very difficult because you still have people like Sheldon on the earth.

00:36:15.120 --> 00:36:16.120
Rising up in maturity.

00:36:16.120 --> 00:36:19.120
We could take these three things and put it together.

00:36:19.120 --> 00:36:24.120
And man, maturity will happen fast.

00:36:24.120 --> 00:36:26.120
End of self-preservation.

00:36:30.120 --> 00:36:31.120
Think of this guys.

00:36:31.120 --> 00:36:33.120
Isn't this exactly opposite of the world?

00:36:33.120 --> 00:36:37.120
This is what the world says we should not be.

00:36:37.120 --> 00:36:41.120
Preserve, hold dear, do not give away.

00:36:41.120 --> 00:36:43.120
End of self-determination.

00:36:43.120 --> 00:36:45.120
You're your own man.

00:36:45.120 --> 00:36:47.120
You're your own man.

00:36:47.120 --> 00:36:49.120
He is saying end of self-determination.

00:36:49.120 --> 00:36:53.120
As in I no longer am the one that determines where I go.

00:36:53.120 --> 00:36:56.120
Scriptural proof, John 21 is the best example.

00:36:56.120 --> 00:37:00.120
When you were a child you decided what you would wear, what you would do.

00:37:00.120 --> 00:37:08.120
But the time has come where you will have your hands tied and taken where you do not want to go.

00:37:08.120 --> 00:37:12.120
Sometimes by God, other times by people.

00:37:16.120 --> 00:37:18.120
I love Christianity because of this.

00:37:18.120 --> 00:37:22.120
Because it is so blooming hard and challenging and easy.

00:37:22.120 --> 00:37:26.120
Hard and challenging when you think like a human.

00:37:26.120 --> 00:37:31.120
Easy when you think like you belong to this God.

00:37:31.120 --> 00:37:33.120
What would you not do for him?

00:37:38.120 --> 00:37:39.120
Beautiful eh?

00:37:39.120 --> 00:37:41.120
End of taking offense.

00:37:41.120 --> 00:37:42.120
You can do anything you want to me.

00:37:42.120 --> 00:37:44.120
I will not be offended by you.

00:37:44.120 --> 00:37:48.120
He then begins to just provoke you and nothing happens.

00:37:53.120 --> 00:37:55.120
Any questions?

00:37:59.120 --> 00:38:00.120
What time is it?

00:38:00.120 --> 00:38:02.120
We'll go for another 10 minutes.

00:38:03.120 --> 00:38:04.120
Another one.

00:38:04.120 --> 00:38:07.120
This you all know.

00:38:07.120 --> 00:38:11.120
You are committed to M3.

00:38:11.120 --> 00:38:14.120
Not X3 Aaron, M3.

00:38:14.120 --> 00:38:17.120
Yeah.

00:38:17.120 --> 00:38:20.120
Yeah.

00:38:20.120 --> 00:38:22.120
You are committed.

00:38:22.120 --> 00:38:24.120
Yeah.

00:38:24.120 --> 00:38:27.120
You are committed to M3.

00:38:27.120 --> 00:38:30.120
What's M3?

00:38:30.120 --> 00:38:33.120
Let's put Mr. Butler on the spot.

00:38:33.120 --> 00:38:35.120
What's M3?

00:38:35.120 --> 00:38:37.120
No.

00:38:37.120 --> 00:38:40.120
Though it is.

00:38:40.120 --> 00:38:42.120
There is an M3 BMW.

00:38:42.120 --> 00:38:47.120
But since the M3 was made, it is not a BMW.

00:38:47.120 --> 00:38:49.120
It is a BMW.

00:38:49.120 --> 00:38:51.120
It is a BMW.

00:38:51.120 --> 00:38:52.120
It is a BMW.

00:38:52.120 --> 00:38:58.120
But since we are a prosperity-breeding mega church,

00:38:58.120 --> 00:39:01.120
he could only think of BMW M3s.

00:39:01.120 --> 00:39:03.120
Prosperity gospel.

00:39:03.120 --> 00:39:05.120
Prosperity gospel.

00:39:05.120 --> 00:39:07.120
Make the Father known.

00:39:07.120 --> 00:39:10.120
Thanks Mr. Butler.

00:39:10.120 --> 00:39:12.120
Make the Father known.

00:39:12.120 --> 00:39:15.120
Make disciples.

00:39:15.120 --> 00:39:17.120
Multiply churches.

00:39:17.120 --> 00:39:20.120
Please get this right the next time Mark.

00:39:21.120 --> 00:39:27.120
Multiply churches.

00:39:27.120 --> 00:39:29.120
Why is this important to Cross the Jordan?

00:39:29.120 --> 00:39:31.120
Because if we don't have this, we don't need to Cross the Jordan.

00:39:31.120 --> 00:39:33.120
We don't need new mantles.

00:39:33.120 --> 00:39:36.120
If this ain't my main purpose, I don't need a mantle.

00:39:36.120 --> 00:39:38.120
This is what God is after.

00:39:38.120 --> 00:39:41.120
This is what God has been after since the beginning.

00:39:41.120 --> 00:39:44.120
Right from Adam onwards is all he's been after.

00:39:44.120 --> 00:39:47.120
This is Genesis 128 put in different words.

00:39:47.120 --> 00:39:51.120
The Genesis 128 mandate.

00:39:51.120 --> 00:39:55.120
Go forth, multiply, replenish, subdue.

00:39:55.120 --> 00:39:57.120
That's a different way of saying it.

00:39:57.120 --> 00:40:01.120
So if we don't have this at the center of our lives,

00:40:01.120 --> 00:40:04.120
and this can only be done in the context of a body,

00:40:04.120 --> 00:40:06.120
it was given in the context of a body,

00:40:06.120 --> 00:40:08.120
it wasn't given to individuals.

00:40:08.120 --> 00:40:10.120
If we don't have this at the center of our lives,

00:40:10.120 --> 00:40:12.120
then there is no need of a mantle.

00:40:12.120 --> 00:40:17.120
Because I ain't after the same thing that God is after.

00:40:17.120 --> 00:40:26.120
Make the Father known, make disciples, multiply churches.

00:40:26.120 --> 00:40:28.120
The cool thing is, we'll repeat this so many times,

00:40:28.120 --> 00:40:32.120
you'll say it in your sleep.

00:40:32.120 --> 00:40:36.120
And then that's great, because once you start saying things in your sleep,

00:40:36.120 --> 00:40:42.120
it's a good sign.

00:40:42.120 --> 00:40:45.120
Next one.

00:40:45.120 --> 00:40:49.120
External things become less important.

00:40:49.120 --> 00:40:59.120
External temporals become less important.

00:40:59.120 --> 00:41:06.120
Internal eternals become more important.

00:41:06.120 --> 00:41:14.120
So Mark moves from M3 BMW to M3 Jesus.

00:41:14.120 --> 00:41:19.120
That's what begins to happen.

00:41:19.120 --> 00:41:26.120
This is going all across the earth, you want to show your face?

00:41:26.120 --> 00:41:28.120
So external temporals become less important.

00:41:28.120 --> 00:41:31.120
They're still important in my life, external temporals,

00:41:31.120 --> 00:41:34.120
and they have to begin to become less important.

00:41:34.120 --> 00:41:38.120
1 Timothy has such a cool verse, it says there,

00:41:38.120 --> 00:41:42.120
God has given us things to enjoy, he has given it to us for our pleasure.

00:41:42.120 --> 00:41:44.120
So on one hand you have to hold that,

00:41:44.120 --> 00:41:47.120
that there are things given to us to enjoy and for our pleasure.

00:41:47.120 --> 00:41:51.120
On the other hand, external temporals have to become less important.

00:41:51.120 --> 00:41:58.120
And what that means is everything is from and towards heaven's purposes first.

00:41:58.120 --> 00:42:04.120
Everything is from and towards heaven's purposes first.

00:42:04.120 --> 00:42:08.120
This should not compete.

00:42:08.120 --> 00:42:11.120
The problem is when things that are external temporals

00:42:11.120 --> 00:42:15.120
compete in my life against internal eternals.

00:42:15.120 --> 00:42:18.120
God has given us things to enjoy,

00:42:18.120 --> 00:42:22.120
but when they begin to compete against heaven's purposes,

00:42:22.120 --> 00:42:29.120
I have a problem, and I still have this problem.

00:42:29.120 --> 00:42:35.120
First Timothy 6'6 or 6' something, or second Timothy 6'6 or 6' something.

00:42:35.120 --> 00:42:42.120
I've narrowed it down.

00:42:42.120 --> 00:42:46.120
Three more when we're done.

00:42:46.120 --> 00:42:56.120
Next one, giving and distributing, giving and distributing your wealth.

00:42:56.120 --> 00:43:02.120
Wealth is more than money, it's money and everything else.

00:43:02.120 --> 00:43:09.120
Giving and distributing your wealth for kingdom purposes.

00:43:09.120 --> 00:43:15.120
How much of it? All of it.

00:43:15.120 --> 00:43:19.120
Come on Jacob, 10%, 20%, 30% all.

00:43:19.120 --> 00:43:27.120
Giving and distributing your wealth for kingdom purposes.

00:43:27.120 --> 00:43:32.120
You guys do it so well, man. You guys do it so well.

00:43:32.120 --> 00:43:36.120
I know people here who have done such crazy things with their wealth

00:43:36.120 --> 00:43:38.120
for the sake of king and kingdom,

00:43:38.120 --> 00:43:42.120
and the purposes of God in this church and through this church

00:43:42.120 --> 00:43:46.120
just boggles my mind.

00:43:46.120 --> 00:43:49.120
One of the strong points of this church,

00:43:49.120 --> 00:43:53.120
which is why we still don't take an offering and there's money,

00:43:53.120 --> 00:43:57.120
which is why there'll be more money now that I've announced that the rent is going up.

00:43:57.120 --> 00:44:03.120
At the end of the day, I'm fascinated by how giving this church is.

00:44:03.120 --> 00:44:08.120
This allows us to get to the Jordan and cross the day.

00:44:08.120 --> 00:44:12.120
Any questions before we move on to the last two?

00:44:12.120 --> 00:44:15.120
But all of it, huh? Giving and distributing your wealth, all of it.

00:44:15.120 --> 00:44:22.120
We've got to beat Bill Gates and the Oracle of Omaha, what's his name? Buffett.

00:44:22.120 --> 00:44:25.120
We've got to beat Buffett and Gates and Edith.

00:44:25.120 --> 00:44:26.120
They're giving away everything.

00:44:26.120 --> 00:44:30.120
Bill Gates made a statement saying, by the time I leave, I've got to have nothing left.

00:44:30.120 --> 00:44:37.120
Come on man, he can't take that. It's your privilege.

00:44:37.120 --> 00:44:40.120
Everything. All.

00:44:40.120 --> 00:44:44.120
Any questions on that because your faces are not betraying your real emotions?

00:44:44.120 --> 00:44:47.120
Diana, you've been totally poker-faced today.

00:44:47.120 --> 00:44:50.120
Everything okay? Not a single question out of you.

00:44:50.120 --> 00:44:53.120
I'm feeling very convicted and challenged right now.

00:44:53.120 --> 00:45:01.120
Great. You can write out checks to Jacob John.

00:45:01.120 --> 00:45:05.120
It might help ease some of your guilt and conviction.

00:45:05.120 --> 00:45:10.120
Okay, okay. If it's conviction, then deal with the Holy Spirit.

00:45:10.120 --> 00:45:12.120
If it's guilt, deal with me.

00:45:12.120 --> 00:45:21.120
So, giving and distributing your wealth for kingdom purposes, but all of it, guys. All of it.

00:45:21.120 --> 00:45:28.120
I want us to think all, because if we don't think all, we'll stop short. All of it.

00:45:28.120 --> 00:45:30.120
You've got to think all of it.

00:45:31.120 --> 00:45:37.120
If you think all of it, we'll get to 30% by tomorrow. All of it.

00:45:37.120 --> 00:45:41.120
But Jacob, if I give all of it, what do I have to live on?

00:45:41.120 --> 00:45:45.120
Let your plenty supply my lack today so that my plenty can supply your lack tomorrow.

00:45:45.120 --> 00:45:51.120
So that neither has too much, no one has too less.

00:45:51.120 --> 00:45:58.120
These are the things the New Testament church saw. Let us see it again.

00:45:58.120 --> 00:46:03.120
There are families here that have taken out their investments so that they can redistribute it for the sake of the kingdom.

00:46:03.120 --> 00:46:05.120
I'm thinking to myself, what's wrong with you?

00:46:05.120 --> 00:46:13.120
There are people here that have taken five-figure chunks of their money and given it for certain purposes.

00:46:13.120 --> 00:46:29.120
Bless you for being so generous.

00:46:29.120 --> 00:46:36.120
Some of you feed so many people across the earth. You don't just give here. You give in different parts of the world.

00:46:36.120 --> 00:46:41.120
That's the beauty of it. You're not even limiting your giving to here. You give here.

00:46:41.120 --> 00:46:49.120
It's not like the pie is growing smaller. You know how if you take a pizza and divide it into 16 pieces, everyone gets one pepperoni?

00:46:49.120 --> 00:46:58.120
You're not even like that. You're letting the pizza grow bigger. You're giving here and then you're distributing at different places across the earth too.

00:46:58.120 --> 00:47:03.120
Outside of this church. I marvel at how much you guys give.

00:47:03.120 --> 00:47:09.120
I bless you for it, man. It's amazing.

00:47:09.120 --> 00:47:17.120
I don't think you'll have any problems with regard to this point when it comes to Jordan, but perhaps the other points.

00:47:17.120 --> 00:47:20.120
Two more.

00:47:20.120 --> 00:47:28.120
Hey, if you want to cross the Jordan, you have to learn how to break yokes.

00:47:28.120 --> 00:47:37.120
Break yokes and deal with the Mark 16 verse 17, 18 commission.

00:47:37.120 --> 00:47:43.120
And they shall lay hands on the sick and the sick shall be healed. They shall cast out demons. They shall drink poison and nothing shall happen to them.

00:47:43.120 --> 00:47:56.120
They shall speak in new tongues. Breaking yokes, Isaiah 58 verse 6, dealing with the works of the enemy is important if you are to cross Jordan.

00:47:56.120 --> 00:48:06.120
Because this mantle that God is giving you is a mantle that requires doing the works of God, not just the words of God.

00:48:06.120 --> 00:48:15.120
The words of God must lead to the works of God and the works of God should speak words.

00:48:15.120 --> 00:48:20.120
The words of God must lead to the works of God and the works of God should give evidence for the words you speak.

00:48:20.120 --> 00:48:21.120
One last time.

00:48:21.120 --> 00:48:28.120
The words of God must lead to the works of God and the works of God should give evidence for the words you speak.

00:48:28.120 --> 00:48:35.560
And therefore, if I want to cross the Jordan, I must say to God, Father, I'm so willing

00:48:35.560 --> 00:48:39.260
to try this even if I fail a million times.

00:48:39.260 --> 00:48:41.840
I'm so willing to try this.

00:48:41.840 --> 00:48:45.760
You know, this guy's wife died recently.

00:48:45.760 --> 00:48:48.800
Bill Johnson's wife from Bethel died recently.

00:48:48.800 --> 00:48:49.800
Listen to this.

00:48:49.800 --> 00:48:51.800
I just saved it.

00:48:51.800 --> 00:48:53.000
I'm not the...

00:48:53.000 --> 00:48:57.160
I like some of his writings, but I'm not the biggest Bill Johnson fan, so don't take this

00:48:57.160 --> 00:49:05.640
as my endorsement of Bill Johnson and everything he does, but listen to this.

00:49:05.640 --> 00:49:09.300
Bill Johnson of the Bethel Church in Reading, California, preached three days after losing

00:49:09.300 --> 00:49:11.800
his beloved wife, Benny, to cancer.

00:49:11.800 --> 00:49:13.440
This was a quote from his sermon.

00:49:13.440 --> 00:49:18.360
God is not a vending machine that I get up to put a quarter in it and withdraw from him

00:49:18.360 --> 00:49:19.660
what I want.

00:49:19.660 --> 00:49:24.320
He chooses what he gives, but it is the wicked at heart that say God didn't do what I wanted.

00:49:24.320 --> 00:49:25.720
He's a liar.

00:49:25.720 --> 00:49:29.560
May I never be found critiquing God when things don't go my way.

00:49:29.560 --> 00:49:33.240
May I always be found having a heart ready to be critiqued by him.

00:49:33.240 --> 00:49:34.240
Is God my friend?

00:49:34.240 --> 00:49:35.440
He is.

00:49:35.440 --> 00:49:40.880
But he is my Lord first, and I'll never have the pain I'm feeling right now in eternity.

00:49:40.880 --> 00:49:45.680
So in this moment, it is a privilege to respond rightly to the Lord of my life with deeper

00:49:45.680 --> 00:49:47.360
trust and devotion.

00:49:47.360 --> 00:49:52.080
I will bow before the lamb on the throne in awe and worship him forever, but never will

00:49:52.160 --> 00:49:56.880
I have the face-to-face chance to do that while I'm in pain, except in this life.

00:49:56.880 --> 00:49:59.040
So in this moment, I choose to do that.

00:49:59.040 --> 00:50:04.360
When I said yes to Jesus, I gave up my right to fully understand or be in charge of my

00:50:04.360 --> 00:50:10.040
life.

00:50:10.040 --> 00:50:15.040
I'll try everything, and you will try everything that Jesus expects us to try here on earth.

00:50:15.040 --> 00:50:20.640
And when we fail, we will get up again and say these words and say, I may have failed

00:50:20.640 --> 00:50:24.280
this time, I'm going to start again.

00:50:24.280 --> 00:50:26.800
We don't stop.

00:50:26.800 --> 00:50:33.800
So the Mark 16, 17, 18, and Isaiah 58, 6 of Breaking Yolks is critical for Jordan crossing.

00:50:33.800 --> 00:50:48.800
And the last one, which we'll so visit after this series is done, is Psalm 144, verse 1.

00:50:50.640 --> 00:51:02.320
Oh God, you train my hands for war and my fingers for battle.

00:51:02.320 --> 00:51:10.880
Let me guarantee you that any church or any group of people that does not want to fight

00:51:11.600 --> 00:51:22.600
and war, that does not want to prevail, will not cross the Jordan, because the very word

00:51:22.600 --> 00:51:26.160
kingdom implies warfare.

00:51:26.160 --> 00:51:31.840
The very word kingdom implies warfare, and there is no advancing of the kingdom without

00:51:31.840 --> 00:51:35.640
spiritual conflict.

00:51:35.640 --> 00:51:37.880
No.

00:51:37.880 --> 00:51:40.340
This is not highlighting the devil and stuff like that.

00:51:40.340 --> 00:51:42.620
It is very simple.

00:51:42.620 --> 00:51:45.620
Right from Genesis 315, there has been a battle on.

00:51:45.620 --> 00:51:48.540
In the Old Testament, the battle was different, and the New Testament is different.

00:51:48.540 --> 00:51:51.220
The Old Testament, the battle was very simple.

00:51:51.220 --> 00:51:54.780
The seed of the woman will crush the seed of the serpent.

00:51:54.780 --> 00:51:57.740
And so what was the intent of the enemy right from the get-go?

00:51:57.740 --> 00:52:00.220
Can I destroy the seed of the woman?

00:52:00.220 --> 00:52:04.260
And the conflict started.

00:52:04.260 --> 00:52:07.340
Every war that Israel fought was very simple.

00:52:07.340 --> 00:52:11.460
We have to preserve the seed of the woman, because out of the seed of the woman will

00:52:11.460 --> 00:52:14.260
come one that will crush the head of the serpent.

00:52:14.260 --> 00:52:16.580
And finally he did come.

00:52:16.580 --> 00:52:17.780
And then the battle shifts.

00:52:17.780 --> 00:52:22.260
In the New Testament, it is no longer preserving the seed of the woman, even though Revelation

00:52:22.260 --> 00:52:24.400
12 talks about another attack.

00:52:24.400 --> 00:52:30.300
But now it talks about, now that the promised Messiah has come, we need to advance his kingdom,

00:52:31.300 --> 00:52:37.460
tooth and nail by satanic forces.

00:52:37.460 --> 00:52:39.620
And there are two extremes in Christianity now.

00:52:39.620 --> 00:52:43.180
One which says, let's not talk about the devil, let's focus on Jesus.

00:52:43.180 --> 00:52:45.060
Really bad theology.

00:52:45.060 --> 00:52:49.300
The other one which says, let's focus on the devil, because that's what he's up to.

00:52:49.300 --> 00:52:51.180
Really bad theology.

00:52:51.180 --> 00:52:56.300
What we need to stand and see is that if you call him king, you have to see him as warrior.

00:52:56.300 --> 00:52:58.620
If you call him king, you have to see him as warrior.

00:52:58.620 --> 00:53:03.340
If you use the word kingdom, you have to understand that it advances only through spiritual conflict

00:53:03.340 --> 00:53:06.900
and war.

00:53:06.900 --> 00:53:09.420
But we can't choose one side or the other.

00:53:09.420 --> 00:53:13.460
And there is no need to cross the Jordan to receive another mantle if this is not part

00:53:13.460 --> 00:53:14.460
of our equation.

00:53:14.460 --> 00:53:15.460
It ain't going to happen.

00:53:15.460 --> 00:53:20.380
And this church is going to walk that route.

00:53:20.380 --> 00:53:22.460
Any questions?

00:53:22.460 --> 00:53:25.620
We'll talk about that for the rest of the year.

00:53:25.620 --> 00:53:27.820
So looking forward to it.

00:53:27.820 --> 00:53:31.380
And from your faces, I can see that you are so enthusiastic about it.

00:53:31.380 --> 00:53:32.700
Thank you.

00:53:32.700 --> 00:53:41.020
So any questions?

00:53:41.020 --> 00:53:45.180
Warfare results in peace in the new heaven and new earth.

00:53:45.180 --> 00:53:46.620
From Genesis to Revelation.

00:53:46.620 --> 00:53:47.820
Please don't avoid it.

00:53:47.820 --> 00:53:49.820
To avoid it is silly.

00:53:49.820 --> 00:53:53.580
Just because you've seen an extreme somewhere doesn't mean you avoid it.

00:53:53.580 --> 00:53:58.420
It's like not riding cars anymore, not flying planes anymore because one crashed.

00:53:58.420 --> 00:53:59.420
Any questions?

00:53:59.420 --> 00:54:15.140
I'd say go with cleansed vessels.

00:54:15.140 --> 00:54:16.140
Start there.

00:54:16.140 --> 00:54:17.620
You can have all the rest.

00:54:18.620 --> 00:54:24.540
But if you don't have that, you don't have much.

00:54:24.540 --> 00:54:27.140
All I mean by cleansed vessels is what I keep saying.

00:54:27.140 --> 00:54:30.940
Can we have a passionate desire for blazing purity?

00:54:30.940 --> 00:54:31.940
Blazing purity.

00:54:31.940 --> 00:54:35.700
Not even be pure.

00:54:35.700 --> 00:54:39.620
It's a passion for blazing purity.

00:54:39.620 --> 00:54:43.660
I was thinking of this while I was driving to the church today.

00:54:43.700 --> 00:54:48.220
I was at the crosswalk of Fraser and Southeast Marine and there were two girls crossing the

00:54:48.220 --> 00:54:50.700
road at the zebra crossing.

00:54:50.700 --> 00:54:55.740
I'm looking at people parked on both sides of the road.

00:54:55.740 --> 00:54:58.820
Most of the cars had men in them.

00:54:58.820 --> 00:55:06.900
And there was not one man who wasn't looking at these women with not any good intent.

00:55:06.900 --> 00:55:13.020
I'm sitting there thinking to myself, father, don't we Christians have to be different?

00:55:13.020 --> 00:55:15.620
Why aren't we different?

00:55:15.620 --> 00:55:19.220
Because we do exactly the same thing.

00:55:19.220 --> 00:55:23.020
I know I'm talking to the men right now.

00:55:23.020 --> 00:55:24.820
The same applies to women in different contexts.

00:55:24.820 --> 00:55:28.980
But I'm thinking to myself, come on Lord, we've got to have a better standard than the

00:55:28.980 --> 00:55:30.700
world.

00:55:30.700 --> 00:55:35.180
If our heads turn on a swivel the same way the world's head turns on a swivel, how are

00:55:35.180 --> 00:55:37.060
we any different?

00:55:37.060 --> 00:55:38.060
What distinguishes us?

00:55:38.060 --> 00:55:40.340
We feel guilty, they don't.

00:55:40.340 --> 00:55:42.980
That ain't a measure.

00:55:43.940 --> 00:55:48.740
The amazing purity is to have a counterculture here on earth that establishes a new value,

00:55:48.740 --> 00:55:49.740
man.

00:55:49.740 --> 00:55:53.340
And it becomes contagious.

00:55:53.340 --> 00:55:57.540
Danny and Phoebe begin to catch it and they don't know any other way.

00:55:57.540 --> 00:56:00.540
Isaac begins to catch it.

00:56:00.540 --> 00:56:04.540
And a new standard is established.

00:56:04.540 --> 00:56:10.540
This is just a passing thought when I was driving.

00:56:11.100 --> 00:56:15.100
I thought to myself, father, may this church learn how to be different?

00:56:15.100 --> 00:56:18.780
Maybe not do the same things that the world does and then feel guilty and offer a prayer

00:56:18.780 --> 00:56:20.460
of forgiveness.

00:56:20.460 --> 00:56:22.140
That ain't blazing purity.

00:56:22.140 --> 00:56:27.580
That's just repentance, which is good, but it ain't good enough.

00:56:27.580 --> 00:56:33.620
As we get older as Christians, we should be repenting less.

00:56:33.620 --> 00:56:34.620
Repenting less.

00:56:34.620 --> 00:56:38.540
If the degree of repentance is still the same, either it's because you've become highly aware

00:56:38.540 --> 00:56:42.860
of the holiness of God or it's because nothing has changed.

00:56:42.860 --> 00:56:43.860
It be the other.

00:56:43.860 --> 00:56:48.460
And at the end of the day, after all this is done, we go to Luke 17, 10, and here's

00:56:48.460 --> 00:56:49.460
what it says.

00:56:49.460 --> 00:56:54.020
Jacob, after you've done all this, just sit at the table and when God says, hey, great

00:56:54.020 --> 00:56:59.580
job, Jacob, say, but we are unprofitable servants.

00:56:59.580 --> 00:57:01.660
He's calling us to be profitable servants.

00:57:01.660 --> 00:57:06.900
And at the end of the day, after having done all this, we still say we are but unprofitable

00:57:07.380 --> 00:57:08.380
servants.

00:57:08.380 --> 00:57:15.380
Jane, do you have a song on unprofitable servants?

00:57:15.380 --> 00:57:17.380
You.

00:57:17.380 --> 00:57:19.380
Okay.

00:57:19.380 --> 00:57:23.380
Guys, we'll see you next Sunday.

00:57:23.380 --> 00:57:26.380
There's a shower when?

00:57:26.380 --> 00:57:27.380
Today?

00:57:27.380 --> 00:57:30.380
Oh, okay.

00:57:30.380 --> 00:57:33.020
Next Sunday after church.

00:57:33.140 --> 00:57:34.140
Otherwise, we're good.

00:57:34.140 --> 00:57:45.140
If you want prayer, Joan and Jane and Mason, she's raising her hand.

00:57:45.140 --> 00:57:46.140
Were you raising your hand?

00:57:46.140 --> 00:57:47.140
No, okay.

00:57:47.140 --> 00:57:48.140
Joan.
