00:00:59.000 --> 00:01:09.000 Our idea of kings is still so tiny because at the most we can think of a tyrant or someone with a castle. 00:01:10.000 --> 00:01:13.000 That's the extent to which we can think of a king. 00:01:13.000 --> 00:01:23.000 But this king is so huge that it will take our spirits to wrap around him and not our minds. 00:01:23.000 --> 00:01:28.000 So if we try to capture this king with our minds, we will fail. 00:01:29.000 --> 00:01:39.000 Because our minds can only imagine of a king this big or this big or this big or a castle or some power associated with him or her. 00:01:39.000 --> 00:01:50.000 But our spirits will be able to wrap around him because Paul presents him both as a pre-existent Christ who existed before Genesis 1.1, 00:01:50.000 --> 00:01:56.000 but he also presents him as the unlimited Christ who is cosmic in nature. 00:01:56.000 --> 00:01:58.000 And what do I mean by saying cosmic in nature? 00:01:58.000 --> 00:02:03.000 As in the cosmos was at his disposal. 00:02:03.000 --> 00:02:05.000 Paul presents him like that and we look at that. 00:02:05.000 --> 00:02:13.000 But we need to understand that no matter how far back you go, there's never going to be a point where he did not exist. 00:02:13.000 --> 00:02:17.000 So if you try to imagine it, it's not possible. 00:02:17.000 --> 00:02:19.000 Einstein couldn't figure it out. 00:02:19.000 --> 00:02:21.000 I think you won't. 00:02:23.000 --> 00:02:30.000 So everything, everyone, every galaxy can be a part of the universe. 00:02:30.000 --> 00:02:45.000 Everyone, every galaxy, every atom, every quark, every subatomic particle that exists, everything exists because Jesus Christ spoke his will. 00:02:48.000 --> 00:02:50.000 Just think of that. 00:02:50.000 --> 00:02:53.000 Galaxies exist, huge galaxies. 00:02:56.000 --> 00:02:58.000 Tiny subatomic particles exist. 00:02:58.000 --> 00:03:00.000 Cells exist. 00:03:02.000 --> 00:03:04.000 I mean billions. 00:03:04.000 --> 00:03:08.000 There's no unit to measure the number of cells that presently exist on earth. 00:03:10.000 --> 00:03:20.000 And all these exist because Jesus Christ spoke his will and created them out of nothing. 00:03:20.000 --> 00:03:25.000 He spoke his will and created them out of nothing. 00:03:25.000 --> 00:03:26.000 This is how powerful he is. 00:03:26.000 --> 00:03:28.000 He didn't try to shape things. 00:03:28.000 --> 00:03:30.000 He didn't try to chisel things. 00:03:30.000 --> 00:03:32.000 He didn't try to sculpt things. 00:03:32.000 --> 00:03:34.000 He didn't try to construct things. 00:03:34.000 --> 00:03:36.000 He didn't try to put them together. 00:03:36.000 --> 00:03:38.000 He spoke his will. 00:03:38.000 --> 00:03:50.000 And when he spoke his will, things that exist today in the material and the immaterial, in the visible and the invisible world happened because he spoke his will and they were created out of nothing. 00:03:50.000 --> 00:03:56.000 This is the enormity, the magnificency, absolute sovereignty and the unlimited wisdom of this king that we are talking about. 00:03:56.000 --> 00:03:58.000 This is how he still works. 00:03:58.000 --> 00:04:10.000 And this is how, I mean sure, sperm and egg came together, but this baby was spoken into existence and has existed since before time. 00:04:10.000 --> 00:04:15.000 Before there was an earth, this baby was already in the mind of God. 00:04:15.000 --> 00:04:21.000 And then at a certain point in history, God introduces the baby in flesh. 00:04:21.000 --> 00:04:25.000 But in his brilliance or herbalism, he introduces the baby in flesh. 00:04:25.000 --> 00:04:33.000 And then at a certain point in history, God introduces the baby in flesh. 00:04:33.000 --> 00:04:43.000 But in his brilliance or her brilliance, in her fullness, he or she has existed since before time. 00:04:43.000 --> 00:04:51.000 And everything was spoken, his will was spoken. 00:04:51.000 --> 00:04:56.000 His will was spoken. 00:04:56.000 --> 00:05:08.000 This is important for us to draw things out of, to extract principles out of, in the sense that seek his will, speak his will is critical to your existence. 00:05:08.000 --> 00:05:15.000 Seek his will to know it and speak his will is critical to our existence. 00:05:15.000 --> 00:05:24.000 And if it isn't a habit yet, you must make it a habit because you are called to imitate Christ. 00:05:24.000 --> 00:05:27.000 What happens very often is one or the other. 00:05:27.000 --> 00:05:30.000 People speak his will without seeking. 00:05:30.000 --> 00:05:36.000 So they speak his will without seeking it. 00:05:36.000 --> 00:05:47.000 Or they seek his will, but they do not speak it. 00:05:47.000 --> 00:05:51.000 And it remains incomplete then. 00:05:51.000 --> 00:06:06.000 But when people learn to do both, it has a very powerful impact in lives. 00:06:06.000 --> 00:06:10.000 We'll go there another time, but I just want you to realize that. 00:06:10.000 --> 00:06:13.000 Guys, he's in absolute charge. He's in absolute charge. 00:06:13.000 --> 00:06:15.000 God is in absolute charge. 00:06:15.000 --> 00:06:18.000 I know I made this distinction before. 00:06:18.000 --> 00:06:24.000 God is in absolute charge. He's not in control of everything. 00:06:24.000 --> 00:06:27.000 And that sounds sacrilegious. 00:06:27.000 --> 00:06:41.000 Because even though he's in absolute charge, when creation refuses to yield to his benign control, even though he's in absolute charge. 00:06:41.000 --> 00:06:45.000 So God, remember that series on TV called Charles in Charge? 00:06:45.000 --> 00:06:51.000 That was when I was, that was when, yeah, it was ages ago. 00:06:51.000 --> 00:06:55.000 In charge. God is completely in charge. 00:06:55.000 --> 00:07:05.000 But even when creation rebels, they rebel or do things in what is called accountable rebellion. 00:07:05.000 --> 00:07:08.000 Accountable rebellion. 00:07:09.000 --> 00:07:12.000 And accountable rebellion works this way. 00:07:12.000 --> 00:07:21.000 They can rebel as long as he allows them to exist. 00:07:21.000 --> 00:07:33.000 And they can rebel to the extent that he permits. 00:07:33.000 --> 00:07:38.000 This is when it looks like God is not in control, but he is in control. 00:07:38.000 --> 00:07:51.000 The thing is, in his absolute supremacy, Christ, because of his sovereignty and wisdom, has chosen not to violate the will of man. 00:07:52.000 --> 00:08:04.000 In his supremacy, as absolutely in charge, Jesus Christ, in his wisdom and his sovereignty, has chosen not to violate the will of man. 00:08:04.000 --> 00:08:07.000 He has chosen to do that. 00:08:07.000 --> 00:08:10.000 And in the process, what happens is rebellion happens. 00:08:10.000 --> 00:08:13.000 But it is something called accountable rebellion. 00:08:13.000 --> 00:08:16.000 And he allows them to exist while they rebel. 00:08:16.000 --> 00:08:18.000 He allows them to exist. 00:08:18.000 --> 00:08:25.000 And he allows them to rebel to the extent that he permits. 00:08:25.000 --> 00:08:29.000 You see this throughout the Bible. You see it with Pharaoh. 00:08:29.000 --> 00:08:32.000 You see it with Nebuchadnezzar. 00:08:32.000 --> 00:08:34.000 One day Nebuchadnezzar was mighty. 00:08:34.000 --> 00:08:41.000 In Daniel chapter 4, it talks about how he was standing on his balcony, telling himself how wonderful and how mighty he was. 00:08:41.000 --> 00:08:47.000 And then by verse 34, it talks about how his nails had grown, his beard had grown. 00:08:47.000 --> 00:08:53.000 He was drenched with the dew of the forest and was running around the forest like a wild beast. 00:08:53.000 --> 00:09:02.000 And then in chapter 5, he comes back to his senses, restored by God, because accountable rebellion is only permitted to an extent. 00:09:02.000 --> 00:09:06.000 And he allows people to exist. 00:09:06.000 --> 00:09:09.000 You see this with Pharaoh. You see this with Nebuchadnezzar. 00:09:09.000 --> 00:09:11.000 You see this with Herod. 00:09:11.000 --> 00:09:15.000 You see this with Nabal, Abigail's former husband. 00:09:15.000 --> 00:09:21.000 You see this with nations. You see this with leaders of nations. 00:09:21.000 --> 00:09:26.000 It's important to wrap our heads around the fact that he is absolutely in charge. 00:09:26.000 --> 00:09:33.000 But because he does not violate the will of man, it sometimes looks like he is not in control. 00:09:33.000 --> 00:09:37.000 It is an exchange he has chosen to make. 00:09:37.000 --> 00:09:40.000 His patience awaits for repentance. 00:09:40.000 --> 00:09:53.000 It's an exchange he has chosen to make, that I will look like I am not in control, because I do not want to violate Jacob's will. 00:09:56.000 --> 00:10:00.000 And so people can thumb their nose towards God. 00:10:00.000 --> 00:10:04.000 They can say that God does not exist. They can call him names. 00:10:04.000 --> 00:10:08.000 They can blaspheme him. They can write books called God Delusion. 00:10:08.000 --> 00:10:15.000 And he, like Gisela just says, has the patience to give them time to repent. 00:10:15.000 --> 00:10:20.000 Has a benign attitude towards them, because his control is always benign. 00:10:20.000 --> 00:10:23.000 But he is absolutely in charge. 00:10:23.000 --> 00:10:30.000 This is important if, like the twelve spies, you are supposed to go out and handle things. 00:10:30.000 --> 00:10:33.000 Handle first giants, then nations, then peoples. 00:10:33.000 --> 00:10:39.000 Then if you need to do that, if you and I don't have an idea of how totally in charge he is, 00:10:39.000 --> 00:10:47.000 how he can depose leaders in a day, change nations from being democratic to communist, from communist to democratic. 00:10:50.000 --> 00:10:54.000 I mean, it's so totally in charge, guys. 00:10:57.000 --> 00:10:59.000 Any questions before we go on? 00:11:00.000 --> 00:11:06.000 Because these are the aspects of the king that we need to discuss, because these things no king possesses. 00:11:08.000 --> 00:11:11.000 There is no king that possesses these aspects. 00:11:11.000 --> 00:11:15.000 In a coup, kings are removed every 20, 30, 40 years. 00:11:15.000 --> 00:11:19.000 Sometimes their sons murder them. It still is happening. 00:11:25.000 --> 00:11:27.000 Any questions? 00:11:27.000 --> 00:11:33.000 I love the fact that everything was created out of nothing, because he spoke his will. 00:11:33.000 --> 00:11:35.000 I was his will. 00:11:37.000 --> 00:11:40.000 Isn't that beautiful? I was his will. 00:11:40.000 --> 00:11:44.000 And I was spoken. And I exist. 00:11:49.000 --> 00:11:51.000 Amazing. 00:11:51.000 --> 00:11:57.000 And if I am his will, then surely in its excellence, it would have been perfect. 00:11:57.000 --> 00:12:01.000 It would have been just so brilliant. 00:12:01.000 --> 00:12:07.000 And our attempt here on earth is to become as the king really made us. 00:12:08.000 --> 00:12:16.000 To create good homes, good work situations, good lives, and preach and proclaim the good news of the king. 00:12:16.000 --> 00:12:20.000 So that others get to do the same thing. 00:12:23.000 --> 00:12:28.000 So Paul does talk about Christ existing before everything else existed. 00:12:28.000 --> 00:12:40.000 But then he also talks about this whole idea of an unlimited Christ who rules the cosmos and who is almost cosmic in his kingdom. 00:12:40.000 --> 00:12:46.000 We hardly use the word cosmic nowadays except when you're reading science fiction comics. 00:12:46.000 --> 00:12:53.000 But we haven't reached the end of the universe and God exists far beyond that. 00:12:53.000 --> 00:12:57.000 Go to Colossians 1, 16 and 18 and we'll just look at that and then we'll stop. 00:12:57.000 --> 00:13:01.000 Like I said, try not to grasp it with your mind because you won't be able to. 00:13:02.000 --> 00:13:06.000 At best you'll think of Queen Elizabeth and Windsor Castle. 00:13:06.000 --> 00:13:08.000 And that really ain't much. 00:13:15.000 --> 00:13:17.000 Colossians 1, 16 to 18. 00:13:17.000 --> 00:13:19.000 Colossians 1, 16 to 18. 00:13:23.000 --> 00:13:25.000 Colossians 1, 16 to 18. 00:13:25.000 --> 00:13:27.000 Colossians 1, 16 to 18. 00:13:27.000 --> 00:13:29.000 Colossians 1, 16 to 18. 00:13:29.000 --> 00:13:39.000 I'll start at 15 and then we'll be looking at 16 to 18. 00:13:39.000 --> 00:13:47.000 He, as in Christ, is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. 00:13:47.000 --> 00:13:52.000 For by him all things were created, things in heaven and on earth. 00:13:52.000 --> 00:13:59.000 For by him all things were created, things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible. 00:13:59.000 --> 00:14:06.000 Whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities, all things have been created through him and for him. 00:14:06.000 --> 00:14:12.000 He is before all things and in him all things hold together. 00:14:12.000 --> 00:14:15.000 And he is the head of the body, the church. 00:14:15.000 --> 00:14:19.000 He is the beginning and the firstborn from among the dead. 00:14:19.000 --> 00:14:22.000 So that in everything he might have supremacy. 00:14:22.000 --> for him. 00:15:01.000 --> 00:15:03.000 In him, through him and for him. 00:15:03.000 --> 00:15:05.000 And that's what we'll look at right now. 00:15:05.000 --> 00:15:07.000 In him, through him and for him. 00:15:12.000 --> 00:15:14.000 This is the unlimitedness of your king. 00:15:14.000 --> 00:15:21.000 And the more comfortable and the more aware you are of it, the greater your expectancy and the greater the faith you can exert. 00:15:21.000 --> 00:15:25.000 So let's look at in him first. 00:15:25.000 --> 00:15:29.000 Guys, because Christ is the beginning and the end. 00:15:32.000 --> 00:15:39.000 Because Christ is the beginning and the end. 00:15:44.000 --> 00:15:52.000 This is the sphere within which everything is created. 00:15:52.000 --> 00:16:00.000 This entire thing is Christ and we have to limit his extent because of the size of the board. 00:16:00.000 --> 00:16:03.000 But take the biggest board you can in the world. 00:16:03.000 --> 00:16:06.000 And you would have something called the beginning outside the board. 00:16:06.000 --> 00:16:09.000 And you would have something called the end outside the board. 00:16:09.000 --> 00:16:18.000 Because Christ is the beginning and the end, he is the sphere within whom the work of creation took place. 00:16:18.000 --> 00:16:21.000 The work of creation took place within Christ. 00:16:21.000 --> 00:16:27.000 The work of creation took place within Christ. 00:16:27.000 --> 00:16:30.000 I'm sorry, I'm picking on Rachel again and again. 00:16:30.000 --> 00:16:33.000 There's a baby being formed within her. 00:16:34.000 --> 00:16:39.000 The work of the creation of that baby is happening within her womb. 00:16:41.000 --> 00:16:47.000 It's amazing how so many things in the physical are first drawn out in the spiritual. 00:16:47.000 --> 00:16:51.000 This is why in 1 Corinthians 15 it says, first the physical then the spiritual. 00:16:51.000 --> 00:16:55.000 That's not the order, but that's how we are supposed to see it. 00:16:55.000 --> 00:17:02.000 When we see it in the physical, we can always find a parallel in the first three chapters of Genesis usually in the spiritual. 00:17:03.000 --> 00:17:13.000 And so here is Christ's womb and in Christ's womb all of creation was worked out. 00:17:15.000 --> 00:17:27.000 He's so supreme that there is nothing that can raise a finger, draw a breath, take a step without his explicit permission. 00:17:28.000 --> 00:17:30.000 Cannot. 00:17:31.000 --> 00:17:48.000 As you begin to embrace this, you'll find that praying for certain things that look giantish or praying against the demonic becomes easier because of who you realize he is. 00:17:48.000 --> 00:18:02.000 All things, cells, atoms, galaxies are sustained or held together because he sustains it. 00:18:02.000 --> 00:18:08.000 The reason the earth doesn't fly off its axis, the reason the solar system keeps revolving around the sun, 00:18:08.000 --> 00:18:14.000 the reason we'll have a solar eclipse on August 21st and you'll have almost 80% of darkness in Vancouver, 00:18:15.000 --> 00:18:29.000 the reason the moon will move in such a way that it covers the sun, the reason these things happen is because Christ in whom the entire universe which is still expanding consists. 00:18:29.000 --> 00:18:32.000 He holds it together. He holds it together. 00:18:32.000 --> 00:18:37.000 It's no big deal then that Joshua asked the sun to stand still. 00:18:37.000 --> 00:18:43.000 It didn't throw the system out of whack because God holds it together. 00:18:43.000 --> 00:18:46.000 How does he hold it? And this is mind blowing. 00:18:46.000 --> 00:18:48.000 How does he hold all this together? 00:18:48.000 --> 00:19:01.000 It's in Hebrews chapter 1 verse 3 where it says that the sun is the radiance of God and the exact representation of God and he sustains all things by the power of his word. 00:19:03.000 --> 00:19:05.000 How does he sustain all this? 00:19:05.000 --> 00:19:07.000 How does he keep everything together? 00:19:07.000 --> 00:19:10.000 How does he keep the different parts of your body together? 00:19:12.000 --> 00:19:14.000 How does he sustain all this? 00:19:14.000 --> 00:19:17.000 He sustains all this by the power of his word. 00:19:17.000 --> 00:19:30.000 Hebrews chapter 1 verse 3 that Jesus Christ is the radiance and the exact representation of God and he sustains all things by the power of his word. 00:19:30.000 --> 00:19:32.000 He sustains all things by the power of his word. 00:19:32.000 --> 00:19:35.000 Hebrews chapter 1 verse 2 says, 00:19:35.000 --> 00:19:42.000 And he created the worlds sustained by the power of his word. 00:19:44.000 --> 00:19:52.000 So what has been brought into being through him is sustained in being by him. 00:19:52.000 --> 00:20:11.000 What has been brought into being through him is sustained in being by him. 00:20:11.000 --> 00:20:26.000 What has been brought into being through him as in he was the one who brought things into being but once he brings things into being he sustains them himself. 00:20:26.000 --> 00:20:27.000 And how does he do it? 00:20:27.000 --> 00:20:29.000 By the power of his word. 00:20:29.000 --> 00:20:31.000 By the power of his word. 00:20:31.000 --> 00:20:40.000 His words are spirit and life. 00:20:40.000 --> 00:20:42.000 By the power of his word. 00:20:42.000 --> 00:20:44.000 This is how he does it. 00:20:44.000 --> 00:20:48.000 Many of us start things and we don't know how to finish them. 00:20:49.000 --> 00:21:02.000 May I suggest to you that when God brings something into your life that he begins, you can only sustain it by his word so that it continues and finishes. 00:21:02.000 --> 00:21:12.000 One of the things that happens with us is many of us start something well but somewhere along the line the compass doesn't work anymore. 00:21:12.000 --> 00:21:13.000 Don't know where to go. 00:21:13.000 --> 00:21:15.000 Everything seems a muddle. 00:21:15.000 --> 00:21:17.000 Don't have priorities. 00:21:17.000 --> 00:21:26.000 And when that happens, go back to this whole idea of, Father you sustain things by your word and by your spirit. 00:21:26.000 --> 00:21:28.000 So I'm going to jump back. 00:21:28.000 --> 00:21:31.000 Here's a good way to remember it. 00:21:31.000 --> 00:21:33.000 I'm sure you'll find this easy to remember. 00:21:33.000 --> 00:21:39.000 How do we sustain ourselves by the power of the word? 00:21:39.000 --> 00:21:40.000 Be taught. 00:21:40.000 --> 00:21:45.000 Make sure you read. 00:21:45.000 --> 00:21:47.000 I'm talking about the word. 00:21:47.000 --> 00:21:49.000 Be taught the word. 00:21:49.000 --> 00:21:51.000 Read the word. 00:21:51.000 --> 00:21:55.000 Use the word. 00:21:55.000 --> 00:22:01.000 Meditate on the word. 00:22:01.000 --> 00:22:03.000 And practice the word. 00:22:03.000 --> 00:22:07.000 And if you ever forget how to remember this, just remember these five letters. 00:22:07.000 --> 00:22:11.000 And you should be okay. 00:22:11.000 --> 00:22:13.000 Trump. 00:22:13.000 --> 00:22:19.000 So be taught the word. 00:22:19.000 --> 00:22:21.000 As in it's critical. 00:22:21.000 --> 00:22:27.000 I'm always amazed that there are people in this church who go home and go over what is taught. 00:22:27.000 --> 00:22:29.000 It just fascinates me that. 00:22:29.000 --> 00:22:31.000 And they've been doing this for years. 00:22:31.000 --> 00:22:33.000 They've been doing this for years. 00:22:33.000 --> 00:22:35.000 They go home and they go over it. 00:22:35.000 --> 00:22:37.000 Sometimes they get called saying, what do you mean by this?
