"Come and Take It" is a phrase associated with the Texas Revolution, particularly the Battle of Gonzales, and has become a symbol of defiance and independence. It originated when the Mexican government attempted to retrieve a cannon from the settlers of Gonzales in 1835. The settlers, who had previously been given the cannon for defense against Native American attacks, refused to surrender it and flew a flag with the words "Come and Take It" during the confrontation. It is a historical event and a rallying cry symbolizing the Texan spirit of resistance against oppression and the fight for freedom during the Texas Revolution.
