"Come and Take It" is a phrase associated with the Texas Revolution, particularly the Battle of Gonzales, and has become a symbol of defiance and independence. It originated when the Mexican government attempted to retrieve a cannon from the settlers of Gonzales in 1835. The settlers, who had previously been given the cannon for defense against Native American attacks, refused to surrender it and flew a flag with the words "Come and Take It" during the confrontation. It is a historical event and a rallying cry symbolizing the Texan spirit of resistance against oppression and the fight for freedom during the Texas Revolution. The phrase and its associated flag have since become emblematic of the battle for liberty and independence.
