Artwork Guidelines: The better the artwork that you submit, the better the end result. If you're using cellphone images or images from social media, be aware that there can be significant loss of quality for low-resolution images. The last few generations of smartphones take great pictures, though, and you should be using the maximum resolution in your camera settings. You can always make a picture file more compact but unlike CSI, there is no "enhance" software that can add non-existent pixels back. Not yet, anyway. Important note: Safety Orange and Safety Green are not recommended for full-colour or light-coloured artwork because the dyes in the shirt will tint the artwork (blue will become green, white turns yellow, red turns brown, etc.). We recommend printing in black or very dark colours on these shirts. What follows is technical info that can be helpful, but if you're not familiar with this stuff, don't worry - just ask us for help! Here are formats we recommend for direct imprint jobs: Sort-of Short Version: Images should be high-resolution OR screen resolution at 4 times the size it will print at. So, if you want a picture to print at 12 x 12, that would be 3600 x 3600 pixels, which is something you can check by using our site or searching for 'check image resolution' and testing your image that way. We can edit images to remove the background, be we'll assume you want to print what you submit, otherwise, expect some cost to be associated with that. Images: Resolution - 300 dpi at reproduction size This means the resolution of your image should be 300 dpi at the size you want it printed. CMYK is recommended. RGB images may exhibit some colour shift during conversion. (If you're not sure, we will check for you and let you know what we recommend, even before you place an order.) PSD or TIFF preferred. If type is set up in the image, 600 dpi is recommended. Setting type in image files is not recommended Recommended profile is Coated GRACoL 2006 however we will by default respect whatever profile is attached to the image. PNG or JPEG is acceptable but JPEG may have visible blocks of colour and noise because of how the JPEG algorithm compresses files. SVG only for vector artwork. Layouts - for vector design (logos and vector-drawn artwork), type with images (photo plus words) and similar: Illustrator (.AI), InDesign (.INDD) or Artpro (.AP) files. Set document raster resolution to 300 dpi. We prefer that image are linked, but it's not required. PDF saved as AI native or Press Quality, images embedded, fonts as outlines. Additional artwork thoughts: If you are NOT a layout artist, all of this stuff may not be meaningful to you. Don't worry - 99% of the time, we can figure out how to help, so just ask. If submitting artwork with type, either include the font files used by the file or better yet, turn all of the fonts to outlines. If you're assembling the artwork in Illustrator, InDesign or Artpro, set up a page size of 12 x 12 inches. Don't include a bounding box because it will get printed. Don't include any artwork you don't intend to have printed, such as call-outs or notes in the layout. Don't flatten or "res-down" PDFs to make them e-mail-able. This varies but currently, for White shirts, we are working through a large stock of Hanes we have on hand. Black, Red, Orange, Safety Orange, Safety Green, Forest Green, Kelly Green, Royal Blue, Charcoal Grey, Athletic Grey will likely be Gildan, Slate Grey is likely Gildan Softstyle or Bella+Canvas. We also stock (and recommend) Allstyle, Alternative, Independent and Bayside (U.S.A. made) on a limited basis. Not all colours are offered here at all times, but if you are looking for a specific colour - ask us! We do many projects where we have remainder product in a variety of colours and we may have what you are looking for! Care instructions: Wash inside out, cold or lukewarm (not hot) water, no bleach, with like colors, hang dry or tumble dry low/permanent press. This will minimize shrinkage and wrinkling. It is very important to wash shirts before wearing and especially white shirts that may permanently yellow if exposed to sunlight or other UV light before being washed. Imprint life varies with what's printed, but following these recommendations assure the longest possible life for your custom shirt. Never iron, steam or press the decorated part of the shirt. What we can't print: We can't duplicate trademarks or likenesses that you don't own. We also can't print messages or image that subjectively promote or suggest hate, violence or discrimination against others, neither can we reproduce inappropriate images or text.
