WEBVTT NOTE Podcast: Acts 29 Vancouver Episode: Horizon Publishing Date: 2013-12-22T05:00:44-08:00 Podcast URL: https://acts29.ca Episode URL: https://acts29.ca/horizon/ 00:00:00.000 --> 00:00:05.000 If you notice the title of what we are going to talk about today is Horizon. 00:00:05.000 --> 00:00:07.000 That's such an odd title for a teaching. 00:00:07.000 --> 00:00:10.000 And at the end of the day, what is a Horizon? 00:00:10.000 --> 00:00:19.000 A Horizon is the limitless line at which the Earth's surface and the heavens appear to meet. 00:00:19.000 --> 00:00:28.000 The Horizon is that limitless line where the Earth's surface and the heavens appear to meet. 00:00:28.000 --> 00:00:30.000 That's what the Horizon is. 00:00:30.000 --> 00:00:40.000 And in a sense, guys, that is exactly what happened in the manger in Bethlehem. 00:00:40.000 --> 00:00:43.000 And by the way, this is not a Christmas message. 00:00:43.000 --> 00:00:47.000 But that's exactly what happened at the manger in Bethlehem, 00:00:47.000 --> 00:00:53.000 where in this tiny little cave outside Bethlehem, 00:00:53.000 --> 00:00:59.000 the heavens and the Earth met in a manger in Bethlehem. 00:00:59.000 --> 00:01:07.000 Isaiah 9, 6 says, unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given. 00:01:07.000 --> 00:01:15.000 The child was born on Earth, the son was given from heaven. 00:01:15.000 --> 00:01:22.000 I mean, if you didn't pick up a CD last week from Michael Scantleberry's teaching, take it. 00:01:22.000 --> 00:01:25.000 It's pretty powerful. 00:01:25.000 --> 00:01:28.000 And I'll be putting it up on the website too. 00:01:28.000 --> 00:01:34.000 But notice that in the manger in Bethlehem, heaven and Earth met. 00:01:34.000 --> 00:01:40.000 A child was born on the Earth, but a son was given from the heavens. 00:01:40.000 --> 00:01:44.000 And in that little baby, heaven and Earth meet. 00:01:44.000 --> 00:01:53.000 And in a sense, the vastness of God was for nine months confined in the womb of a woman. 00:01:53.000 --> 00:01:57.000 Just imagine that. The vastness of God. 00:01:57.000 --> 00:02:03.000 This is why it's fascinating how each Gospel writer writes about the narrative. 00:02:03.000 --> 00:02:06.000 Matthew is talking to a Jewish audience. 00:02:06.000 --> 00:02:09.000 And so everywhere you will see Matthew saying, 00:02:09.000 --> 00:02:14.000 This happened so that the prophecy be fulfilled. 00:02:14.000 --> 00:02:18.000 And so they went to Egypt and this happened so the prophecy be fulfilled. 00:02:18.000 --> 00:02:22.000 And then they realized that Archaelis was still alive. 00:02:22.000 --> 00:02:25.000 So they went to Nazareth. This happened so that the prophecy be fulfilled. 00:02:25.000 --> 00:02:29.000 The point being there, the intent was, listen Jewish audience, 00:02:29.000 --> 00:02:32.000 you've read these words before and they're coming to fulfillment. 00:02:32.000 --> 00:02:33.000 And then you turn to Luke. 00:02:33.000 --> 00:02:42.000 And Luke talks about shepherds who are outside of the so-called elite coming. 00:02:42.000 --> 00:02:47.000 Magi who had no Jewish bones in their body turning up. 00:02:47.000 --> 00:02:49.000 He talks about it from a different point. 00:02:49.000 --> 00:02:59.000 And then there is John who brings into picture who Christ was before he became incarnated. 00:02:59.000 --> 00:03:01.000 The word incarnation is very simple, guys. 00:03:01.000 --> 00:03:05.000 The word incarnation means enfleshment or taking on flesh. 00:03:05.000 --> 00:03:07.000 That's all the word incarnation means. 00:03:07.000 --> 00:03:11.000 So to be incarnate is to take on flesh. That's what it means. 00:03:11.000 --> 00:03:16.000 And so John talks about that. He says, in the beginning was the word. 00:03:16.000 --> 00:03:19.000 The word was with God and the word was God. 00:03:19.000 --> 00:03:21.000 Replace it with the word Jesus. 00:03:21.000 --> 00:03:27.000 In the beginning was Jesus. Jesus was with God. Jesus was God. 00:03:27.000 --> 00:03:30.000 And he enters the earth. 00:03:30.000 --> 00:03:35.000 And so the vastness of God, because Jesus was God, 00:03:35.000 --> 00:03:45.000 the vastness of God was confined within the womb of a 15-year-old girl. 00:03:45.000 --> 00:03:50.000 The vastness of God who created everything, who we sing to, we say, 00:03:50.000 --> 00:03:53.000 We say, you are Alpha and Omega. 00:03:53.000 --> 00:04:03.000 The vastness of God was confined within the womb of a 15-year-old girl. 00:04:03.000 --> 00:04:07.000 And so the child is born here on earth, but the son is given from heaven. 00:04:07.000 --> 00:04:14.000 And suddenly heaven and earth meet in this person. 00:04:14.000 --> 00:04:15.000 And think of this, guys. 00:04:15.000 --> 00:04:22.000 Before Christmas, the living God was pure spirit. 00:04:22.000 --> 00:04:25.000 God is spirit. We've heard that said. 00:04:25.000 --> 00:04:29.000 Before Christmas, the living God was pure spirit. 00:04:29.000 --> 00:04:32.000 All three persons of the Trinity were pure spirit. 00:04:32.000 --> 00:04:37.000 Father was, Jesus was, Holy Spirit was. Pure spirit. 00:04:37.000 --> 00:04:44.000 But when Jesus comes down to the earth in flesh, God became what God was not. 00:04:44.000 --> 00:04:50.000 When Jesus came down to the earth in flesh, God became what God was not. 00:04:50.000 --> 00:04:57.000 In the sense that he changed his form of existence forever, taking on my humanity. 00:04:57.000 --> 00:05:02.000 Don't think Jesus shed his body when he rose from the dead. 00:05:02.000 --> 00:05:08.000 In fact, when he rose from the dead, he rose in a body. 00:05:08.000 --> 00:05:12.000 Jesus has forever decided to be my Melchizedek, 00:05:12.000 --> 00:05:14.000 my high priest. 00:05:14.000 --> 00:05:22.000 Therefore, he decided to take on a body till before Christmas, how many ever years ago. 00:05:22.000 --> 00:05:24.000 God was pure spirit. 00:05:24.000 --> 00:05:37.000 And then Jesus, the second person of the Trinity, who is God, takes on flesh and God becomes what he was not. 00:05:38.000 --> 00:05:45.000 He changed his form of existence forever, taking on my humanity. 00:05:45.000 --> 00:05:55.000 So when we see Jesus, be it in his divinity, be it in his glory, be it in his present physicality, 00:05:55.000 --> 00:06:01.000 or think of him as when he walked in Nazareth, you see a man who was taken on flesh. 00:06:01.000 --> 00:06:10.000 When John sees a vision of him, he still sees Jesus with feet burning brass, with eyes blazing fire. 00:06:10.000 --> 00:06:19.000 When we see him on the Mount of Transfiguration, again we see him in his radiant glory, 00:06:19.000 --> 00:06:23.000 which Peter then talks about saying, we beheld his glory. 00:06:23.000 --> 00:06:26.000 And so what we say to you is not hearsay. 00:06:26.000 --> 00:06:29.000 So he takes on our humanity. 00:06:29.000 --> 00:06:35.000 Now the question is why? Why? Why did Jesus change his form of existence forever? 00:06:35.000 --> 00:06:38.000 And only God can do this. It's amazing. 00:06:38.000 --> 00:06:45.000 I mean, really guys, sometimes when I think of little fellows behind their computers, 00:06:45.000 --> 00:06:52.000 spilling venom about God, I think to myself, what kind of God is this? 00:06:52.000 --> 00:06:56.000 He's absolutely sovereign. He can do whatever he wants. 00:06:59.000 --> 00:07:01.000 And then this patience and kindness. 00:07:01.000 --> 00:07:12.000 I was watching Lee Rigby, the soldier in England, who was decapitated by two young men in the name of religion. 00:07:12.000 --> 00:07:17.000 And for a while, my immediate reaction was such anger. 00:07:17.000 --> 00:07:26.000 And then I'm thinking to myself, human beings just like me, completely perverse response. 00:07:26.000 --> 00:07:31.000 But at the end of the day, I'm thinking to myself, what kind of God is this? 00:07:31.000 --> 00:07:38.000 Who sits there in love and kindness, in patience and mercy? 00:07:38.000 --> 00:07:43.000 What kind of God is this? Who is so sovereign that he can do anything he wants? 00:07:43.000 --> 00:07:49.000 What kind of God is this? Who in his godness, in being pure spirit, decides that for the sake of Javad, 00:07:49.000 --> 00:07:54.000 for the sake of Jacob, for the sake of Ann, I will take on flesh. 00:07:54.000 --> 00:08:00.000 I will be in flesh. And this will forever change the form that I exist in. 00:08:00.000 --> 00:08:05.000 But this is what I will do. And why? Listen to why, guys. 00:08:05.000 --> 00:08:10.000 Why did he take on flesh? Why did he take on my humanity? 00:08:10.000 --> 00:08:15.000 So that, I've got to write this down. 00:08:15.000 --> 00:08:20.000 Is this one of those things that will wipe or not wipe? 00:08:20.000 --> 00:08:25.000 Dry erase markers. This thing wipes? Okay. 00:08:25.000 --> 00:08:31.000 Here's why, guys. Why did he take on my humanity? 00:08:31.000 --> 00:08:57.000 So that I may be freed from everything that prevented me from being fully human. 00:08:57.000 --> 00:09:05.000 Just ponder on that for a second. Just ponder on that for a second and then I'll explain it. 00:09:05.000 --> 00:09:11.000 Why does he take on flesh? Why does he take on humanity? 00:09:11.000 --> 00:09:17.000 So that through taking on flesh, through crucifixion, through living a life here on earth just like mine, 00:09:17.000 --> 00:09:24.000 through resurrection and through ascension, he may now free me from everything 00:09:24.000 --> 00:09:28.000 that prevents me from being fully human. 00:09:28.000 --> 00:09:31.000 And so Jacob, what is the definition of being fully human? 00:09:31.000 --> 00:09:41.000 The definition of being fully human is the existence of Adam in the Garden of Eden before the fall. 00:09:41.000 --> 00:09:47.000 We're all being taken back there, guys. We're all being taken back to Eden. 00:09:47.000 --> 00:09:56.000 The way man was supposed to exist, the way he was supposed to feel, think, behave, be. 00:09:56.000 --> 00:10:01.000 So why does he take on flesh? He takes on flesh so that he takes on my humanity, 00:10:01.000 --> 00:10:09.000 so that everything that prevents me today from being fully human can be undone. 00:10:10.000 --> 00:10:15.000 And when are we supposed to start living like this? Yesterday. 00:10:15.000 --> 00:10:27.000 Yesterday. Because the future kingdom has broken into present history. 00:10:27.000 --> 00:10:37.000 The kingdom has come. Not the kingdom will come. The kingdom has come. 00:10:37.000 --> 00:10:43.000 This is why he took on flesh. This is why he had to be born on Christmas Day as a baby. 00:10:43.000 --> 00:10:50.000 So that I can be restored to the fullness of what it is to be human. 00:10:53.000 --> 00:11:01.000 Guys, it's important to understand this. This is what will fuel your spirit and will satiate your mind 00:11:01.000 --> 00:11:05.000 and will strengthen your body to live a certain way. 00:11:16.000 --> 00:11:20.000 Guys, think of this. Heaven and earth meet in me today. 00:11:20.000 --> 00:11:31.000 Heaven and earth meet in me today. Today, the vastness of God is confined in a 15 year old boy called Jacob. 00:11:31.000 --> 00:11:38.000 Did I say 15 or 50? It doesn't matter. Heaven and earth meet within me now. 00:11:38.000 --> 00:11:51.000 Heaven and earth meet within me now. Today, the vastness of God is confined within a 15 year old called Jacob. 00:11:56.000 --> 00:12:01.000 Ponder on that. I mean, when I say ponder, I want you to do what Mary did. 00:12:01.000 --> 00:12:07.000 Hold it in your heart. Nurse it. Study it. Chew it. Milk it. Understand it. 00:12:07.000 --> 00:12:16.000 Heaven, you are alpha and omega. Heaven and earth. 00:12:16.000 --> 00:12:28.000 Earth. Heaven and earth meet in me today because I am he in whom the vastness of God is now wound. 00:12:34.000 --> 00:12:37.000 Think of it till it becomes the only way you think. 00:12:37.000 --> 00:12:43.000 So today, I am supposed to model what it is to be free and fully human. 00:12:48.000 --> 00:12:54.000 I am supposed to model what it is to be free and fully human as was intended in Eden. 00:12:54.000 --> 00:12:59.000 You know, unfortunately, Christians operate from this position that things are getting worse 00:12:59.000 --> 00:13:03.000 and there is not much we can do about it. So why not just wait for the rapture? 00:13:03.000 --> 00:13:11.000 May I say to you very, very, very categorically that that is not a biblical position. 00:13:11.000 --> 00:13:16.000 Songs have been written over it. Hymns have been sung. Books have been written over it. 00:13:16.000 --> 00:13:22.000 TV programs have been created around it. But this whole idea of Christians operating from a position 00:13:22.000 --> 00:13:25.000 that things are getting worse and there is not much we can do about it, 00:13:25.000 --> 00:13:27.000 so why not just wait for the rapture? 00:13:27.000 --> 00:13:35.000 May I say to you very, very, very categorically that that is not a biblical position. 00:13:35.000 --> 00:13:40.000 But this whole idea of Christians operating from a position that things are getting worse 00:13:40.000 --> 00:13:43.000 and there is not much we can do about it, so why not get raptured? 00:13:43.000 --> 00:13:46.000 It's surprisingly not a biblical position. 00:13:50.000 --> 00:13:58.000 I was placed here on the earth not to be snatched away, but to colonize earth with the life of heaven. 00:13:59.000 --> 00:14:04.000 Let me say that again. I was placed here on earth not to be snatched away, 00:14:05.000 --> 00:14:10.000 but to colonize life here with the life of heaven. 00:14:10.000 --> 00:14:13.000 This earth isn't going to disappear, guys. 00:14:16.000 --> 00:14:18.000 It will be replaced with a new earth. 00:14:20.000 --> 00:14:22.000 But God's plan A still stands. 00:14:26.000 --> 00:14:30.000 The mountains, I mean I was in Vernon. We went up to Silver Star. 00:14:30.000 --> 00:14:32.000 Ah, brilliant man. 00:14:33.000 --> 00:14:36.000 I mean and it was full moon and we were driving at night 00:14:37.000 --> 00:14:42.000 and I just stopped and I said stop the car and I just stood there and it is so quiet. 00:14:43.000 --> 00:14:45.000 Vancouver is not quiet. 00:14:49.000 --> 00:14:52.000 And I'm staying in this little cottage on the hill. 00:14:52.000 --> 00:14:55.000 Snow all around, cougars and bears too I believe. 00:14:55.000 --> 00:14:57.000 So even though they gave me snow boots I stayed inside. 00:15:00.000 --> 00:15:05.000 And at night I would go out and stand in the moonlight bathing the snow 00:15:06.000 --> 00:15:10.000 just to listen and you could hear silence. 00:15:11.000 --> 00:15:14.000 It is so quiet and it was so stunningly beautiful. 00:15:15.000 --> 00:15:19.000 And this in a world that is groaning because it's decaying. 00:15:21.000 --> 00:15:24.000 Guys, it will be so stunningly beautiful 00:15:24.000 --> 00:15:28.000 that you will say why did I ever hanker after streets of gold? 00:15:32.000 --> 00:15:34.000 Why did I ever want a big mansion? 00:15:39.000 --> 00:15:41.000 The earth will be recreated. 00:15:41.000 --> 00:15:43.000 This earth will be recreated. 00:15:44.000 --> 00:15:46.000 We were not placed here to be snatched away. 00:15:46.000 --> 00:15:50.000 We were placed here so that we can colonize earth with the life of heaven 00:15:50.000 --> 00:15:52.000 and it starts when? 00:15:52.000 --> 00:15:54.000 It starts yesterday. 00:15:59.000 --> 00:16:04.000 Some of you and I are the result of someone else colonizing earth with the life of heaven 00:16:04.000 --> 00:16:06.000 and it infected us. 00:16:13.000 --> 00:16:17.000 How many here were born into a born again family? 00:16:19.000 --> 00:16:20.000 One. 00:16:21.000 --> 00:16:22.000 One. 00:16:22.000 --> 00:16:23.000 Two. 00:16:23.000 --> 00:16:24.000 Three. 00:16:24.000 --> 00:16:25.000 Four. 00:16:26.000 --> 00:16:28.000 The rest of us were infected. 00:16:30.000 --> 00:16:34.000 They had the advantage of being born in an incubator full of the virus. 00:16:36.000 --> 00:16:38.000 The rest of us had to be infected. 00:16:38.000 --> 00:16:40.000 Don't you agree? 00:16:43.000 --> 00:16:44.000 Think of it guys. 00:16:46.000 --> 00:16:47.000 Think of it. 00:16:50.000 --> 00:16:53.000 Today I am to model what it is to be free and fully human. 00:16:53.000 --> 00:16:54.000 We will talk about that some more. 00:16:54.000 --> 00:16:58.000 So guys, and remember even when it comes to the demonic realm, 00:16:58.000 --> 00:17:02.000 understand this guys, that when the angels rebelled against God, 00:17:02.000 --> 00:17:04.000 the conflict concerned you. 00:17:07.000 --> 00:17:10.000 When the angels rebelled against God, the conflict concerned you Doris. 00:17:10.000 --> 00:17:12.000 That's what they were rebelling over. 00:17:14.000 --> 00:17:16.000 They wanted Doris and Rob's worship. 00:17:17.000 --> 00:17:21.000 And so Lucifer said, I will sit on the congregation of the Most High. 00:17:22.000 --> 00:17:24.000 I will sit on the sacred mountain. 00:17:24.000 --> 00:17:27.000 The conflict concerned you. 00:17:28.000 --> 00:17:30.000 That's why the angels rebelled against God. 00:17:30.000 --> 00:17:36.000 And so may I suggest to you that while God can obliterate the satanic kingdom with his thought, 00:17:36.000 --> 00:17:38.000 he doesn't even need to breathe. 00:17:38.000 --> 00:17:40.000 He can just think. 00:17:40.000 --> 00:17:42.000 Obliterate. 00:17:42.000 --> 00:17:45.000 Lucifer disappears in a flash. 00:17:46.000 --> 00:17:49.000 Just in this explosion of phosphorus. 00:17:49.000 --> 00:17:51.000 Because that's what the name means anyways. 00:17:52.000 --> 00:17:57.000 He can think Satan into nothing. 00:17:59.000 --> 00:18:04.000 The same God who can obliterate Satan and the satanic demonic realm with a thought 00:18:04.000 --> 00:18:09.000 will leave even that kingdom to be undone through us. 00:18:17.000 --> 00:18:20.000 So when the angels rebelled against God, the conflict concerned man, 00:18:20.000 --> 00:18:24.000 while God can obliterate Satan and the demonic kingdom with a thought, 00:18:24.000 --> 00:18:28.000 he will resolve the issue through the sons of God, us. 00:18:30.000 --> 00:18:32.000 So where are you going in a hurry? 00:18:32.000 --> 00:18:34.000 To heaven. 00:18:34.000 --> 00:18:36.000 Don't be in such a hurry. 00:18:36.000 --> 00:18:38.000 Heaven is going to come down to the earth. 00:18:38.000 --> 00:18:40.000 Heaven and earth have met in you already. 00:18:40.000 --> 00:18:42.000 And this whole thing is going to be recreated. 00:18:42.000 --> 00:18:46.000 You're to colonize the earth with the life of God in you. 00:18:46.000 --> 00:18:49.000 We'll take it step by step guys. 00:18:49.000 --> 00:18:51.000 I'm not preaching, I'm teaching here. 00:18:51.000 --> 00:18:53.000 In the sense I'm not trying to rara you. 00:18:53.000 --> 00:18:56.000 I'm just having this established in our hearts. 00:19:02.000 --> 00:19:03.000 Yeah. 00:19:03.000 --> 00:19:07.000 I was placed here not to be snatched away, 00:19:07.000 --> 00:19:12.000 but to colonize the earth with the life of heaven. 00:19:16.000 --> 00:19:22.000 This is how any country that wants to take over another country works. 00:19:22.000 --> 00:19:27.000 They go and they set up a small settlement and then they begin to spread. 00:19:27.000 --> 00:19:30.000 The Brits, this is how they ruled the world. 00:19:30.000 --> 00:19:35.000 They would go into a place and set up a small trading post. 00:19:36.000 --> 00:19:40.000 And that trading post would stay there for 20 or 30 years. 00:19:40.000 --> 00:19:43.000 But in the process they would now make alliances. 00:19:43.000 --> 00:19:45.000 People would begin to change. 00:19:45.000 --> 00:19:47.000 Religion would begin to change. 00:19:47.000 --> 00:19:49.000 Education would begin to change. 00:19:49.000 --> 00:19:52.000 Transport system would begin to change. 00:19:52.000 --> 00:19:54.000 Clothes would begin to change. 00:19:54.000 --> 00:19:59.000 And eventually the entire area would have been completely different. 00:19:59.000 --> 00:20:03.000 You can go to India right now and you will see little cities 00:20:03.000 --> 00:20:06.000 in the hills.
