00:00:00.000 --> 00:00:02.000
Thank you guys, thank you.

00:00:06.620 --> 00:00:11.620
Okay, so we'll talk about this idea of exchange,

00:00:12.820 --> 00:00:16.460
and so we sum up what we spoke about last week.

00:00:16.460 --> 00:00:19.420
I don't know if you had an opportunity to practice it,

00:00:19.420 --> 00:00:21.300
but let's go over what we said last week.

00:00:21.300 --> 00:00:26.300
So we understand this idea of exchange.

00:00:30.000 --> 00:00:34.000
It means that God is calling us to bring to pass here on earth.

00:00:34.000 --> 00:00:38.000
So we said last week that in Acts 3, verse 6,

00:00:38.000 --> 00:00:42.000
so this is a continuation from last week, Acts 3, verse 6,

00:00:42.000 --> 00:00:45.000
we said that we have nothing else to give.

00:00:45.000 --> 00:00:48.000
We have nothing else to give.

00:00:48.000 --> 00:00:52.000
We have nothing else to give.

00:00:52.000 --> 00:00:57.000
We have nothing else to give but the Son.

00:00:57.000 --> 00:01:00.000
We have nothing else to give but the Son.

00:01:00.000 --> 00:01:02.000
Nothing of value to give but the Son.

00:01:02.000 --> 00:01:03.000
Acts 3 says,

00:01:03.000 --> 00:01:05.000
Silver and gold have I none,

00:01:05.000 --> 00:01:09.000
but what I have I give you in the name of Jesus Christ.

00:01:09.000 --> 00:01:14.000
So the only thing that you and I have for the rest of the earth is the Son.

00:01:14.000 --> 00:01:17.000
We have nothing else to give but the Son.

00:01:17.000 --> 00:01:19.000
Because the world has everything else they can give them.

00:01:19.000 --> 00:01:23.000
The world can give them more money, more jobs, more health, more projects,

00:01:23.000 --> 00:01:27.000
more sometimes accolades,

00:01:27.000 --> 00:01:33.000
but we have something that they need and we have nothing else to give but the Son.

00:01:33.000 --> 00:01:39.000
But you can't give away what is precious to you,

00:01:39.000 --> 00:01:43.000
you can't give away what is precious to you,

00:01:43.000 --> 00:01:47.000
what is precious to you,

00:01:47.000 --> 00:01:52.000
till you love someone.

00:01:52.000 --> 00:01:55.000
That's the second statement we made last time,

00:01:55.000 --> 00:01:58.000
that Jesus is super precious to us.

00:01:58.000 --> 00:02:00.000
It's very evident in this church,

00:02:00.000 --> 00:02:04.000
especially sometimes when the ways you act and the ways you worship,

00:02:04.000 --> 00:02:05.000
the way you talk,

00:02:05.000 --> 00:02:08.000
it's very evident that Jesus is really precious to you.

00:02:08.000 --> 00:02:12.000
But you can never give away something super precious to you

00:02:12.000 --> 00:02:15.000
unless you love somebody.

00:02:15.000 --> 00:02:17.000
That's when you give things away.

00:02:17.000 --> 00:02:18.000
How do we know that?

00:02:18.000 --> 00:02:20.000
Because God himself did that.

00:02:20.000 --> 00:02:24.000
God so loved that he gave.

00:02:28.000 --> 00:02:31.000
So one of the reasons we have Jesus in our lives,

00:02:31.000 --> 00:02:33.000
but we don't give him away,

00:02:33.000 --> 00:02:36.000
is because we lack the second thing that God has,

00:02:36.000 --> 00:02:38.000
which is he loves so much that he gives away.

00:02:38.000 --> 00:02:41.000
I do not love enough, I do not give away.

00:02:41.000 --> 00:02:43.000
So I have to ask, and I've been asking,

00:02:43.000 --> 00:02:47.000
Father, today can you help me to love the world?

00:02:47.000 --> 00:02:48.000
It's our day.

00:02:48.000 --> 00:02:50.000
On one hand it says Christians do not love the world.

00:02:50.000 --> 00:02:52.000
On the other hand we are praying,

00:02:52.000 --> 00:02:54.000
Jesus, please help me love the world.

00:02:54.000 --> 00:02:57.000
Because I only give away something really precious

00:02:57.000 --> 00:02:59.000
when I love something else more.

00:02:59.000 --> 00:03:02.000
We do that with our kids, we do that with our spouses.

00:03:02.000 --> 00:03:05.000
God so loved that he gave.

00:03:05.000 --> 00:03:07.000
That leads us to a third dilemma,

00:03:07.000 --> 00:03:12.000
which is because he lives in me,

00:03:14.000 --> 00:03:15.000
because he lives in me,

00:03:19.000 --> 00:03:21.000
I can only give him away,

00:03:21.000 --> 00:03:22.000
I can only give him away

00:03:28.000 --> 00:03:33.000
by giving myself away sacrificially.

00:03:37.000 --> 00:03:40.000
By giving myself away sacrificially.

00:03:40.000 --> 00:03:42.000
That's a catch, eh?

00:03:44.000 --> 00:03:46.000
God has set it up that way.

00:03:46.000 --> 00:03:48.000
So you want to give me away?

00:03:48.000 --> 00:03:50.000
Well, you can't give me away in a tract,

00:03:50.000 --> 00:03:52.000
you can't give me away in a video,

00:03:52.000 --> 00:03:55.000
you can't give me away in an invitation to a church.

00:03:55.000 --> 00:03:57.000
If you want to give me away,

00:03:57.000 --> 00:03:59.000
since I live in you and you love,

00:03:59.000 --> 00:04:02.000
you'll have to give me away by giving yourself away sacrificially.

00:04:03.000 --> 00:04:05.000
So he's set this up in such a way

00:04:05.000 --> 00:04:08.000
that it gives us very little wiggle room.

00:04:10.000 --> 00:04:12.000
And all love is expressed in sacrifice,

00:04:12.000 --> 00:04:14.000
be it with your spouse, be it with your friends,

00:04:14.000 --> 00:04:16.000
be it with your children.

00:04:16.000 --> 00:04:18.000
It's best expressed in sacrifice.

00:04:18.000 --> 00:04:20.000
Sacrifice of four things,

00:04:21.000 --> 00:04:24.000
there might be more, but it's the four T's.

00:04:24.000 --> 00:04:28.000
Time, treasure, talent.

00:04:29.000 --> 00:04:31.000
Three T's and one S.

00:04:32.000 --> 00:04:33.000
Strength.

00:04:35.000 --> 00:04:37.000
Time, talent, treasure, strength.

00:04:41.000 --> 00:04:44.000
So you give him, and how does the sacrificial giving start?

00:04:44.000 --> 00:04:48.000
First you give yourself to him,

00:04:50.000 --> 00:04:54.000
then you give yourself to others.

00:04:57.000 --> 00:05:01.000
That's how he, that's how he,

00:05:01.000 --> 00:05:09.000
that's how he, that's how he can represent himself through us.

00:05:13.000 --> 00:05:16.000
That's how he can represent himself through us.

00:05:16.000 --> 00:05:18.000
Any questions thus far?

00:05:20.000 --> 00:05:22.000
So basically what we are saying is,

00:05:22.000 --> 00:05:26.000
hey guys, build a church for the world.

00:05:26.000 --> 00:05:29.000
Build a church for the world

00:05:29.000 --> 00:05:31.000
and give the sun away.

00:05:34.000 --> 00:05:38.000
But to give the sun away, you'll have to love the world.

00:05:38.000 --> 00:05:41.000
And to give the sun away, you'll have to give yourself away.

00:05:43.000 --> 00:05:47.000
And so this must be this constant prayer that comes out of us.

00:05:47.000 --> 00:05:52.000
Jesus' prayer in the Garden of Gethsemane is kind of this.

00:05:52.000 --> 00:05:56.000
I know that I don't have to do this, but I realize I need to do this.

00:05:56.000 --> 00:05:58.000
For this reason I came.

00:05:59.000 --> 00:06:01.000
That's his prayer in the Garden of Gethsemane.

00:06:01.000 --> 00:06:03.000
That's what he's struggling with.

00:06:03.000 --> 00:06:05.000
So don't think that you won't struggle with it.

00:06:05.000 --> 00:06:07.000
This is a struggle.

00:06:07.000 --> 00:06:09.000
It is a struggle.

00:06:09.000 --> 00:06:11.000
He struggled with it.

00:06:13.000 --> 00:06:17.000
He struggled with it in his humanity, but he was very sure.

00:06:17.000 --> 00:06:19.000
And then he says, not my will, but my will.

00:06:19.000 --> 00:06:21.000
So this is a struggle.

00:06:21.000 --> 00:06:24.000
So this is not just tomorrow start doing it.

00:06:24.000 --> 00:06:26.000
Struggle with it. Struggle through it.

00:06:26.000 --> 00:06:27.000
Pray it out.

00:06:27.000 --> 00:06:29.000
Pray that I love the world more.

00:06:29.000 --> 00:06:31.000
It is not possible to give anything away

00:06:31.000 --> 00:06:36.000
till you love something so much that you're willing to sacrifice it.

00:06:36.000 --> 00:06:38.000
Any questions, guys?

00:06:42.000 --> 00:06:45.000
So much is rotten with prayer, right?

00:06:46.000 --> 00:06:49.000
So much is rotten with prayer, right?

00:06:49.000 --> 00:06:51.000
When you begin to pray, God puts you on an anvil

00:06:51.000 --> 00:06:55.000
and begins to shape you and then provide you an opportunity to fit.

00:06:55.000 --> 00:06:56.000
Hear me again.

00:06:56.000 --> 00:06:59.000
When you begin to pray this, God puts you on an anvil

00:06:59.000 --> 00:07:01.000
and he shapes you so that,

00:07:01.000 --> 00:07:03.000
he's shaping you so that tomorrow

00:07:03.000 --> 00:07:06.000
he will provide you an opportunity where you will fit.

00:07:07.000 --> 00:07:10.000
So some of these things need prayer

00:07:10.000 --> 00:07:12.000
so that something changes here and here.

00:07:12.000 --> 00:07:14.000
Trust the Holy Spirit to do that

00:07:14.000 --> 00:07:17.000
because there's no way around it because we are so self-preserving.

00:07:20.000 --> 00:07:24.000
Self-preservation is a direct opposite of sacrifice.

00:07:30.000 --> 00:07:33.000
Build a church for the world and give the sun away.

00:07:34.000 --> 00:07:36.000
Any questions?

00:07:39.000 --> 00:07:41.000
God works through representation.

00:07:41.000 --> 00:07:43.000
He works through representation.

00:07:43.000 --> 00:07:45.000
Why does he work through representation?

00:07:45.000 --> 00:07:47.000
One, because he's transcendent.

00:07:47.000 --> 00:07:49.000
He's outside time and space

00:07:49.000 --> 00:07:52.000
so he puts people on the earth to work and represent him.

00:07:52.000 --> 00:07:54.000
He did this in the Garden of Eden.

00:07:54.000 --> 00:07:56.000
He said, I will make man in my image.

00:07:56.000 --> 00:07:58.000
You will represent me.

00:07:58.000 --> 00:08:00.000
And I trust you so much, Adam,

00:08:00.000 --> 00:08:04.000
that you will multiply after my kind, not after your kind.

00:08:04.000 --> 00:08:08.000
Till Adam sinned, people were supposed to be born after his kind.

00:08:09.000 --> 00:08:12.000
So this idea of representation is very ancient.

00:08:13.000 --> 00:08:15.000
He always works through representation.

00:08:17.000 --> 00:08:19.000
This is why he comes and lives in you.

00:08:19.000 --> 00:08:21.000
So you don't even have to imitate.

00:08:21.000 --> 00:08:23.000
You cannot give him away without giving yourself away.

00:08:25.000 --> 00:08:29.000
And so one of the reasons he loves representation

00:08:29.000 --> 00:08:31.000
is because he's transcendent

00:08:31.000 --> 00:08:33.000
and he's utterly transcendent.

00:08:33.000 --> 00:08:35.000
And so the way he enters the earth,

00:08:35.000 --> 00:08:37.000
just think of this.

00:08:37.000 --> 00:08:39.000
How did he enter the earth 2,000 years ago?

00:08:39.000 --> 00:08:41.000
Again, through representation.

00:08:41.000 --> 00:08:44.000
Through someone, a man called Jesus of Nazareth.

00:08:44.000 --> 00:08:46.000
Now how does he enter the earth?

00:08:46.000 --> 00:08:50.000
Through another man called the Church, the body of Christ.

00:08:53.000 --> 00:08:55.000
So he's utterly transcendent,

00:08:55.000 --> 00:08:58.000
so he wants us to represent him.

00:08:58.000 --> 00:09:00.000
Second, we are his likeness.

00:09:02.000 --> 00:09:05.000
He's got no problems, like Jane was saying,

00:09:05.000 --> 00:09:07.000
he's got no problems trusting us

00:09:07.000 --> 00:09:09.000
because we are his likeness.

00:09:09.000 --> 00:09:13.000
Three, he trusts us

00:09:15.000 --> 00:09:21.000
because he trusts the Christ in us, his son.

00:09:24.000 --> 00:09:31.000
And four, he is, after all, Emmanuel,

00:09:32.000 --> 00:09:35.000
God with us.

00:09:36.000 --> 00:09:38.000
The with us God.

00:09:38.000 --> 00:09:40.000
What are we saying?

00:09:40.000 --> 00:09:43.000
That the only God, there's only one,

00:09:43.000 --> 00:09:46.000
that the living God, all other gods are dead,

00:09:46.000 --> 00:09:50.000
and the holy God, because every other God is unholy,

00:09:50.000 --> 00:09:53.000
the only God, the living God, the holy God,

00:09:53.000 --> 00:10:01.000
thinks that you are best to represent him.

00:10:01.000 --> 00:10:04.000
He's chosen your workplace,

00:10:04.000 --> 00:10:06.000
he's chosen the country you were born in,

00:10:06.000 --> 00:10:10.000
he's chosen the nation you presently live in,

00:10:10.000 --> 00:10:15.000
he's chosen everything because he actually thinks well of you

00:10:15.000 --> 00:10:17.000
and thinks that you are best to represent him.

00:10:17.000 --> 00:10:20.000
To whom? To your child.

00:10:22.000 --> 00:10:25.000
To your cynical neighbor.

00:10:28.000 --> 00:10:30.000
To your colleague.

00:10:31.000 --> 00:10:33.000
To the communist.

00:10:35.000 --> 00:10:37.000
To the republican.

00:10:38.000 --> 00:10:40.000
To the Buddhist.

00:10:42.000 --> 00:10:44.000
To the Islamist.

00:10:45.000 --> 00:10:47.000
To the atheist.

00:10:50.000 --> 00:10:53.000
Why does he think they need to be approached?

00:10:53.000 --> 00:10:55.000
Because he loves them

00:10:56.000 --> 00:10:58.000
and because they belong to him

00:11:01.000 --> 00:11:03.000
and because they don't know it.

00:11:04.000 --> 00:11:06.000
That's why.

00:11:12.000 --> 00:11:14.000
But Jacob, we know all this.

00:11:14.000 --> 00:11:18.000
True, but we don't go over it again and again and again.

00:11:18.000 --> 00:11:22.000
So even though we know all this, we have to think.

00:11:22.000 --> 00:11:24.000
It's so important to think like this.

00:11:24.000 --> 00:11:25.000
These are not our daily thoughts.

00:11:25.000 --> 00:11:27.000
Our daily thoughts are usually about us.

00:11:27.000 --> 00:11:30.000
Nothing wrong with that.

00:11:30.000 --> 00:11:32.000
Nothing wrong with that.

00:11:33.000 --> 00:11:35.000
Nothing wrong with that in the sense,

00:11:35.000 --> 00:11:38.000
love the Lord your God, it's important.

00:11:38.000 --> 00:11:40.000
Love your neighbor as you love yourself.

00:11:40.000 --> 00:11:42.000
So it is important to take care of yourself.

00:11:42.000 --> 00:11:46.000
But after taking care of yourself comes this idea of self-denial.

00:11:46.000 --> 00:11:50.000
Self-denial is not denying yourself before you take care of yourself.

00:11:50.000 --> 00:11:52.000
Self-denial is taking care of yourself and then saying,

00:11:52.000 --> 00:11:56.000
just as I desire friendship, I desire friendship for him.

00:11:56.000 --> 00:11:58.000
Just as I have security in Jesus,

00:11:58.000 --> 00:12:01.000
I desire the same security in Jesus for him.

00:12:01.000 --> 00:12:03.000
Just as I hear the voice of God,

00:12:03.000 --> 00:12:07.000
I desire that he would hear the voice of the only living true holy God.

00:12:07.000 --> 00:12:09.000
Just as I have eternal security,

00:12:09.000 --> 00:12:12.000
in the same manner I desire eternal security for him.

00:12:12.000 --> 00:12:15.000
Just as I was approached by someone who found me obnoxious

00:12:15.000 --> 00:12:18.000
and yet began to speak Jesus into my life,

00:12:18.000 --> 00:12:21.000
in the same way I desire now to speak into their lives,

00:12:21.000 --> 00:12:24.000
even though they may reject or be obnoxious to me.

00:12:24.000 --> 00:12:28.000
Love your neighbor as you love yourself, not instead of yourself.

00:12:28.000 --> 00:12:30.000
The idea of self-denial is,

00:12:30.000 --> 00:12:32.000
now that I know that this is what I'm worth,

00:12:32.000 --> 00:12:35.000
I would like to deny my dignity, my worth, my reputation,

00:12:35.000 --> 00:12:38.000
and confer it on somebody else.

00:12:38.000 --> 00:12:39.000
We have to think like this.

00:12:39.000 --> 00:12:42.000
Our problem is we don't necessarily think like this,

00:12:42.000 --> 00:12:47.000
and therefore Christianity has its own versions of existence.

00:12:47.000 --> 00:12:52.000
So pray this, think like this, pray this, think like this, pray this, think like this.

00:12:52.000 --> 00:12:54.000
It's important guys,

00:12:54.000 --> 00:12:59.000
till it becomes naturally, it becomes natural, till it becomes natural.

00:13:02.000 --> 00:13:04.000
Any questions?

00:13:10.000 --> 00:13:12.000
Okay.

00:13:16.000 --> 00:13:19.000
Then we said last week that

00:13:20.000 --> 00:13:23.000
the name of Jesus Christ

00:13:24.000 --> 00:13:28.000
and I've been practicing this week and it's been a lot of fun.

00:13:28.000 --> 00:13:32.000
My prayers are getting longer, but that's the only downside.

00:13:32.000 --> 00:13:37.000
The name of Jesus Christ, so when someone says in the name of Jesus Christ,

00:13:37.000 --> 00:13:42.000
in the name of Jesus Christ, we are saying that the nature of God is in His name.

00:13:42.000 --> 00:13:45.000
The nature of God is in His name.

00:13:45.000 --> 00:13:48.000
The nature of God is in His name.

00:13:48.000 --> 00:13:53.000
The will of God, you see that in Hebrews 1, 3,

00:13:53.000 --> 00:13:59.000
the will of God is in that name.

00:13:59.000 --> 00:14:04.000
As in every promise of God is yes and amen in Jesus Christ.

00:14:04.000 --> 00:14:06.000
1 Corinthians 1, 20.

00:14:06.000 --> 00:14:08.000
The will of God is in His name.

00:14:08.000 --> 00:14:11.000
The power of God is in His name.

00:14:11.000 --> 00:14:14.000
The power of God is in His name.

00:14:15.000 --> 00:14:18.000
The power of God is in His name.

00:14:20.000 --> 00:14:24.000
And you see that in Acts 3, 16.

00:14:25.000 --> 00:14:29.000
And rescue or salvation is in that name.

00:14:29.000 --> 00:14:33.000
You see that in Acts 4, verse 12.

00:14:33.000 --> 00:14:38.000
Rescue or salvation is in that name.

00:14:39.000 --> 00:14:45.000
So this week the reason my prayers got longer is when I pray for people,

00:14:45.000 --> 00:14:51.000
I say now in the name of Jesus Christ, whose nature it is to do this for you,

00:14:51.000 --> 00:14:54.000
because His name is His nature, in the name of Jesus Christ,

00:14:54.000 --> 00:14:59.000
whose will it is to heal you, because we know the promise of God in it.

00:14:59.000 --> 00:15:05.000
In the name of Jesus Christ, in whose name is all power, Acts chapter 3, 16.

00:15:05.000 --> 00:15:09.000
It's not anything else but the sheer power in the name of Jesus Christ that has wrought the ceiling.

00:15:09.000 --> 00:15:14.000
In the name of Jesus Christ who rescues or who saves, there is no other name.

00:15:14.000 --> 00:15:17.000
In that name, and as you begin to speak it,

00:15:17.000 --> 00:15:20.000
you begin to gain confidence of the name that you're using.

00:15:20.000 --> 00:15:25.000
It's not a mantra anymore, or as one would say mantra anymore.

00:15:25.000 --> 00:15:33.000
And so you begin to build yourself, leave alone, build a person who's hearing it.

00:15:33.000 --> 00:15:38.000
Because it's not an incantation or you're not invoking a name like the pagans do.

00:15:38.000 --> 00:15:41.000
You understand why you're using this name.

00:15:41.000 --> 00:15:45.000
In the name of Jesus Christ, I know.

00:15:45.000 --> 00:15:48.000
That's the other thing we talked about last week.

00:15:48.000 --> 00:15:51.000
Any questions?

00:15:51.000 --> 00:15:57.000
As Paul would say, it is good that we go over this again.

00:15:57.000 --> 00:16:02.000
Third thing we spoke about last week is

00:16:02.000 --> 00:16:11.000
that healing was sometimes because of Peter's faith or your faith, depending on who's praying.

00:16:11.000 --> 00:16:21.000
Healing was sometimes because of Peter's faith, or you put your name there, your faith.

00:16:21.000 --> 00:16:27.000
Sometimes the person you're praying for does not have any faith, but you have the faith for them.

00:16:27.000 --> 00:16:29.000
Use it.

00:16:29.000 --> 00:16:36.000
Peter went past that man many times before, but that day he stops and he says,

00:16:36.000 --> 00:16:39.000
silver and gold I have none, but what I have I'll give you.

00:16:39.000 --> 00:16:41.000
Because he's asking for them arms.

00:16:41.000 --> 00:16:43.000
He's been asking for arms for years before that.

00:16:43.000 --> 00:16:45.000
He wasn't a new guy.

00:16:45.000 --> 00:16:48.000
Spots near the temple were highly priced.

00:16:48.000 --> 00:16:52.000
You had to come early and sit there so you get what you need.

00:16:52.000 --> 00:16:59.000
Peter had gone past him, but that day Peter had inside him the faith required to heal that man.

00:16:59.000 --> 00:17:03.000
We can get to a place where we are aware of what God wants on certain days.

00:17:03.000 --> 00:17:08.000
You go past the person and every other day you're walking past.

00:17:08.000 --> 00:17:12.000
And then one day God says, now.

00:17:12.000 --> 00:17:17.000
And that day you have such, sometimes I would even say it's a gift of faith.

00:17:17.000 --> 00:17:19.000
I'm not saying the Bible says so.

00:17:19.000 --> 00:17:24.000
I'm saying that sometimes it's a gift of faith where one day you know that inside you

00:17:24.000 --> 00:17:29.000
there's a sudden surge of faith brought in by the Holy Spirit saying, heal him.

00:17:33.000 --> 00:17:34.000
So there's that that happens.

00:17:34.000 --> 00:17:36.000
We talked about that.

00:17:41.000 --> 00:17:44.000
Healing is sometimes by your faith through Jesus.

00:17:44.000 --> 00:17:47.000
As in Jesus gives it to you saying, go ahead.

00:17:47.000 --> 00:17:50.000
I know you walked past this man many times, but today go ahead.

00:17:50.000 --> 00:17:52.000
Be aware of it. Be conscious of it.

00:17:52.000 --> 00:17:56.000
Never worry about getting it wrong in praying for someone's healing.

00:17:59.000 --> 00:18:07.000
As in, if I pray for him and he doesn't get healed, I'm not poorer for it.

00:18:10.000 --> 00:18:11.000
I'm not poorer for it.

00:18:11.000 --> 00:18:12.000
We think that somehow it's a loss.

00:18:12.000 --> 00:18:19.000
It's always a gain to have the audacity and the faith and the expectation to pray for someone

00:18:19.000 --> 00:18:21.000
with a physical ailment.

00:18:21.000 --> 00:18:24.000
And you're praying to someone who is invisible.

00:18:24.000 --> 00:18:26.000
You're praying to someone that many don't believe in.

00:18:26.000 --> 00:18:29.000
And you're praying in his name that something happened to this person.

00:18:29.000 --> 00:18:31.000
You never lose.

00:18:32.000 --> 00:18:33.000
You never lose.

00:18:33.000 --> 00:18:34.000
You never lose.

00:18:38.000 --> 00:18:43.000
And if your prayer is with compassion and with sympathy, then the person gains anyways

00:18:43.000 --> 00:18:44.000
because of their compassion.

00:18:44.000 --> 00:18:47.000
When prayer is without compassion, it becomes a religious act.

00:18:47.000 --> 00:18:51.000
When prayer is without compassion, it becomes a religious act.

00:18:51.000 --> 00:18:55.000
When prayer is only faith based and does not have compassion, it lacks God.

00:18:55.000 --> 00:18:59.000
It just has faith in a God you do not know.

00:18:59.000 --> 00:19:02.000
It is possible to have faith in a God you do not know.

00:19:02.000 --> 00:19:05.000
It is possible to have faith in a God you do not know.

00:19:05.000 --> 00:19:10.000
But a God you know now has two things happening to you.

00:19:10.000 --> 00:19:12.000
One, you have compassion.

00:19:12.000 --> 00:19:14.000
Jesus was always moved with compassion.

00:19:14.000 --> 00:19:17.000
The easiest way to provoke God is with compassion.

00:19:19.000 --> 00:19:21.000
It's the first revelation of Yahweh.

00:19:21.000 --> 00:19:23.000
I'm gracious and compassionate.

00:19:23.000 --> 00:19:27.000
So if you can capture compassion, if I can capture compassion, it's a brilliant thing.

00:19:30.000 --> 00:19:33.000
Then we said that sometimes healing is not because of your faith.

00:19:33.000 --> 00:19:35.000
Healing is because of the person's faith.

00:19:35.000 --> 00:19:39.000
Healing is because of the person's faith.

00:19:41.000 --> 00:19:48.000
We see that in Acts 14, verse 8, where Paul sees this man who's paralyzed.

00:19:48.000 --> 00:19:54.000
And looking at him, Paul felt or noticed that the man had faith to be healed.

00:19:54.000 --> 00:19:56.000
The man had faith to be healed.

00:19:56.000 --> 00:19:59.000
Healing is because of the person's faith.

00:19:59.000 --> 00:20:07.000
The person has, this is a very strange one, has faith in the Jesus you preached.

00:20:08.000 --> 00:20:22.000
The Jesus you preached, or sometimes he has faith in you, a Jesus follower.

00:20:28.000 --> 00:20:30.000
Think of that for a second.

00:20:30.000 --> 00:20:35.000
Sometimes it's because I have told a person about Jesus and faith rises in their heart

00:20:35.000 --> 00:20:38.000
and they have faith to be healed and you notice it.

00:20:38.000 --> 00:20:40.000
Again guys, there's an awareness.

00:20:40.000 --> 00:20:44.000
It's situational awareness by the Spirit.

00:20:44.000 --> 00:20:51.000
Situational awareness by the Spirit, where the Holy Spirit prompts you to notice things.

00:20:51.000 --> 00:20:56.000
And you're walking by and there are 20 paralyzed people before you,

00:20:56.000 --> 00:21:00.000
but you notice in one of them there's faith rising in them.

00:21:00.000 --> 00:21:02.000
It could be because of what you preach.

00:21:02.000 --> 00:21:05.000
Sometimes it's not even your preaching.

00:21:05.000 --> 00:21:09.000
They somehow think that here is a Jesus follower.

00:21:09.000 --> 00:21:13.000
I have faith that he can heal me.

00:21:13.000 --> 00:21:16.000
It's not even in Jesus, it is in you.

00:21:16.000 --> 00:21:18.000
That is scary.

00:21:18.000 --> 00:21:21.000
I've seen that happen.

00:21:21.000 --> 00:21:25.000
Where they don't have faith in Jesus because they haven't heard of Jesus yet.

00:21:25.000 --> 00:21:29.000
But they've seen you a few times and they have faith in you.

00:21:29.000 --> 00:21:34.000
The problem with people having faith in you is you'll have to quickly divert them to Jesus,

00:21:34.000 --> 00:21:37.000
otherwise what happened in Acts 14 will begin to happen.

00:21:37.000 --> 00:21:39.000
Where they all gathered and started worshipping?

00:21:39.000 --> 00:21:40.000
Paul and Silas.

00:21:40.000 --> 00:21:43.000
And then when that didn't work out, it turned into a riot.

00:21:43.000 --> 00:21:46.000
So I'm not saying the second is the best way to go,

00:21:46.000 --> 00:21:49.000
but when the second happens, don't move away from it.

00:21:49.000 --> 00:21:52.000
Still go through it and then transfer.

00:21:52.000 --> 00:21:58.000
Because sometimes we get so humble that...

00:21:58.000 --> 00:22:05.000
Yeah, heal and then go humble.

00:22:05.000 --> 00:22:08.000
In nations where Christianity is not practiced,

00:22:08.000 --> 00:22:12.000
many come to you just because they think you're a faith healer.

00:22:12.000 --> 00:22:20.000
Take advantage of it and then point them to the healer.

00:22:20.000 --> 00:22:22.000
Any questions?

00:22:22.000 --> 00:22:27.000
So you can't talk to them and pray to somebody when they don't really have a faith and when they don't have a faith.

00:22:27.000 --> 00:22:31.000
Yeah, so that's the fourth point that Paul had brought up last time.

00:22:31.000 --> 00:22:34.000
The regular Paul, not the Bible Paul.

00:22:34.000 --> 00:22:36.000
Yeah.

00:22:36.000 --> 00:22:37.000
The normal Paul.

00:22:37.000 --> 00:22:40.000
Yeah, the regular.

00:22:40.000 --> 00:22:43.000
What size do you want? Small? Regular?

00:22:43.000 --> 00:22:45.000
Yeah.

00:22:45.000 --> 00:22:50.000
So there's a regular Paul had said last week,

00:22:50.000 --> 00:22:54.000
there's times when neither you nor the person has faith,

00:22:54.000 --> 00:22:57.000
but you have this thing called obedience.

00:22:57.000 --> 00:23:02.000
Luke 5.5, Peter wasn't necessarily expressing faith.

00:23:02.000 --> 00:23:04.000
In Luke 5.5 he says,

00:23:04.000 --> 00:23:09.000
Dear Carpenter Jesus, we just want you to know that we are expert fishermen who fished throughout the night

00:23:09.000 --> 00:23:11.000
and we have caught nothing.

00:23:11.000 --> 00:23:14.000
But because you say it, we'll throw our nets one more time.

00:23:14.000 --> 00:23:16.000
It wasn't this. I believe you.

00:23:16.000 --> 00:23:18.000
I'll throw my nets right now and I'll get a lot of fish.

00:23:18.000 --> 00:23:19.000
Nothing like that.

00:23:19.000 --> 00:23:24.000
It was like a last minute Hail Mary, which wasn't a term they used to use then.

00:23:24.000 --> 00:23:27.000
But it was the same way.

00:23:27.000 --> 00:23:33.000
They throw the nets and he did it sheerly out of obedience.

00:23:33.000 --> 00:23:37.000
Sometimes when you don't have faith, just obey.

00:23:37.000 --> 00:23:42.000
Because foolish obedience to the prompting of God,

00:23:42.000 --> 00:23:45.000
even when there is no faith, heals.

00:23:45.000 --> 00:23:48.000
Foolish obedience to the prompting of God,

00:23:48.000 --> 00:23:51.000
even when there is no faith, heals.

00:23:51.000 --> 00:23:56.000
I often told you that story that happened in regular Paul's church

00:23:56.000 --> 00:24:00.000
where this lady called Cecilia got healed because I was obedient.

00:24:00.000 --> 00:24:05.000
I had no faith for healing, but I had obedience to sing a song that healed her.

00:24:08.000 --> 00:24:11.000
Reluctant obedience to sing a song that healed her.

00:24:11.000 --> 00:24:14.000
But obedience can trigger that.

00:24:14.000 --> 00:24:17.000
Then we said Acts 10.38.

00:24:17.000 --> 00:24:20.000
Luke 5.5 is obedience.

00:24:20.000 --> 00:24:23.000
Acts 10.38.

00:24:23.000 --> 00:24:32.000
We said that Acts 10.38 says that the God who is present right now,

00:24:32.000 --> 00:24:38.000
the present God, anoints you.

00:24:41.000 --> 00:24:47.000
With Holy Spirit, with the Holy Spirit, and with power.

00:24:50.000 --> 00:24:53.000
He has a specific agenda.

00:24:53.000 --> 00:25:07.000
His agenda is so that you go and rescue, deliver those

00:25:07.000 --> 00:25:10.000
harassed by the devil.

00:25:10.000 --> 00:25:15.000
What I'm trying to show us is that there's hardly any wiggle room

00:25:15.000 --> 00:25:17.000
when it comes to praying for people's healing.

00:25:17.000 --> 00:25:21.000
He's giving us so many options that we don't have any choice in this.

00:25:21.000 --> 00:25:25.000
Doesn't matter which way you turn, you get knocked out by a word.

00:25:28.000 --> 00:25:31.000
Right, Jeremy?

00:25:31.000 --> 00:25:37.000
So the present God has anointed you with the Holy Spirit and power to do good

00:25:37.000 --> 00:25:40.000
and to heal all under the power of the devil.

00:25:40.000 --> 00:25:41.000
Where do we go now?

00:25:41.000 --> 00:25:44.000
What choice do we have?

00:25:44.000 --> 00:25:49.000
You've got to pray for people who are sick, man.

00:25:49.000 --> 00:25:51.000
We don't have a choice.

00:25:51.000 --> 00:25:53.000
Any questions before we go on?

00:25:53.000 --> 00:25:56.000
So this is what we discussed in the last session.

00:25:56.000 --> 00:25:59.000
We have two or three more this time and we can end.

00:25:59.000 --> 00:26:00.000
Yeah?

00:26:00.000 --> 00:26:05.000
We say back home that if you're going to pray for the sick on the streets,

00:26:05.000 --> 00:26:08.000
you've got to sit on your heart that they're not going to get worse off

00:26:08.000 --> 00:26:09.000
if you pray for them.

00:26:09.000 --> 00:26:10.000
Yeah, beautiful.

00:26:10.000 --> 00:26:13.000
So they can only get better or stay the same.

00:26:13.000 --> 00:26:14.000
Yeah, they're not going to get worse.

00:26:14.000 --> 00:26:16.000
If you pray, they won't get worse.

00:26:16.000 --> 00:26:17.000
Yeah.

00:26:17.000 --> 00:26:19.000
So I'm going to ask you a question.

00:26:20.000 --> 00:26:21.000
Yeah.

00:26:21.000 --> 00:26:24.000
So then we have to respect their free will.

00:26:24.000 --> 00:26:25.000
Yeah.

00:26:25.000 --> 00:26:30.000
But if there's even a slight opening, pray for people's healing.

00:26:34.000 --> 00:26:36.000
Then one of the other questions is,

00:26:36.000 --> 00:26:39.000
what is the best way to get people to pray for the sick?

00:26:39.000 --> 00:26:41.000
So the first question is,

00:26:41.000 --> 00:26:44.000
what is the best way to get people to pray for the sick?

00:26:44.000 --> 00:26:46.000
Then one of the other things we said was,

00:26:46.000 --> 00:26:49.000
and it's not from scripture, so that's why I can't quote it worse,

00:26:49.000 --> 00:26:54.000
but many years ago it was said that in this church are wells of healing,

00:26:54.000 --> 00:26:57.000
and we haven't really seen it.

00:26:59.000 --> 00:27:03.000
But let's say the person who said that was right and he just didn't know us.

00:27:03.000 --> 00:27:06.000
That's why I find it easier to believe him because he didn't know us.

00:27:06.000 --> 00:27:10.000
And so I met him in the church and I said,

00:27:10.000 --> 00:27:12.000
I'm going to pray for the sick.

00:27:12.000 --> 00:27:16.000
And so I met him only years later.

00:27:16.000 --> 00:27:21.000
But there's too many reasons why I should not avoid praying for the sick

00:27:21.000 --> 00:27:26.000
because this is part of this idea of revival where powers of,

00:27:26.000 --> 00:27:30.000
where signs and wonders begin to follow and healing is one part of it.

00:27:30.000 --> 00:27:33.000
There's so many diseased people in the world, guys.

00:27:33.000 --> 00:27:35.000
They've got nowhere.

00:27:36.000 --> 00:27:39.000
I mean, I told you about the stories from India.

00:27:39.000 --> 00:27:42.000
Every person in that church, not every person,

00:27:42.000 --> 00:27:47.000
a large majority of people in that church are there because they got healed.

00:27:48.000 --> 00:27:50.000
There was a mission fest this year.

00:27:50.000 --> 00:27:53.000
Remember the guy I showed you got baptized?

00:27:53.000 --> 00:27:55.000
He was there.

00:27:55.000 --> 00:27:59.000
He was at the mission fest clapping hands, singing, raising.

00:27:59.000 --> 00:28:05.000
I mean, there's a guy who used to lead things against Christianity

00:28:05.000 --> 00:28:09.000
and now he's actively working for.

00:28:09.000 --> 00:28:11.000
Here are some more.

00:28:12.000 --> 00:28:14.000
Next one is Isaiah 61.

00:28:15.000 --> 00:28:17.000
Isaiah 61.

00:28:19.000 --> 00:28:24.000
The spirit of the Lord is upon me.

00:28:24.000 --> 00:28:27.000
The spirit of the Lord is upon me.

00:28:29.000 --> 00:28:32.000
As in at this present moment, when I go out,

00:28:32.000 --> 00:28:37.000
when I'm in different places during the week,

00:28:37.000 --> 00:28:40.000
the spirit of the Lord is constantly upon me.

00:28:40.000 --> 00:28:42.000
Constantly upon me.

00:28:42.000 --> 00:28:46.000
This is why I said we need to think like this because please, I plead with you,

00:28:46.000 --> 00:28:48.000
don't think it's automatic.

00:28:49.000 --> 00:28:51.000
Don't think it's automatic.

00:28:51.000 --> 00:28:53.000
We've got to think like this.

00:28:54.000 --> 00:28:57.000
Proverbs says it, as a man thinks so is he.

00:28:59.000 --> 00:29:03.000
I'm scared if you think this is some automatic thing that the spirit of God will just generate.

00:29:03.000 --> 00:29:05.000
The spirit of God is a teacher.

00:29:06.000 --> 00:29:08.000
We are the students.

00:29:09.000 --> 00:29:11.000
If you don't believe that thinking is important,

00:29:11.000 --> 00:29:14.000
then tell your child not to come home and do any homework.

00:29:14.000 --> 00:29:16.000
Just say the teacher taught you, be happy.

00:29:16.000 --> 00:29:17.000
You'll do well in math.

00:29:17.000 --> 00:29:20.000
See how far that child progresses.

00:29:21.000 --> 00:29:25.000
It is, we have to think like this to become it.

00:29:29.000 --> 00:29:32.000
So, the spirit of the Lord is upon me.

00:29:33.000 --> 00:29:39.000
Why? Because he has anointed me.

00:29:41.000 --> 00:29:43.000
There's the anointing shields too.

00:29:44.000 --> 00:29:46.000
And there's anointing things, prophets.

00:29:47.000 --> 00:29:53.000
But we are nobody and he anoints us as in he immerses us in his power.

00:29:56.000 --> 00:29:57.000
His power.

00:29:57.000 --> 00:30:03.000
And it's never for any, it's not just for the fun of it.

00:30:03.000 --> 00:30:11.000
So we can fulfill functions and purpose.

00:30:13.000 --> 00:30:15.000
This is our daily condition.

00:30:15.000 --> 00:30:16.000
Our daily condition.

00:30:16.000 --> 00:30:19.000
The spirit of the Lord is upon me because he has anointed me.

00:30:19.000 --> 00:30:20.000
To do what?

00:30:20.000 --> 00:30:22.000
That's where the title of the message comes from.

00:30:22.000 --> 00:30:31.000
To enforce or exchange or to enforce or effect a divine exchange.

00:30:36.000 --> 00:30:38.000
To enforce or effect a divine exchange.

00:30:38.000 --> 00:30:40.000
This part of our life description.

00:30:42.000 --> 00:30:45.000
To enforce or effect a divine exchange.

00:30:46.000 --> 00:30:48.000
Jesus is the one who has anointed me.

00:30:48.000 --> 00:30:50.000
To effect a divine exchange.

00:30:51.000 --> 00:30:53.000
Jesus is the one who gives.

00:30:53.000 --> 00:30:57.000
Jesus gives what the person requires.

00:30:57.000 --> 00:31:05.000
The cross is the currency that makes it possible for the whole world to benefit from the King and Kingdom.

00:31:05.000 --> 00:31:08.000
You're the table across which the exchange takes place.

00:31:13.000 --> 00:31:15.000
That's all you and I are.

00:31:16.000 --> 00:31:19.000
The exchange happens.

00:31:20.000 --> 00:31:23.000
Or the counter if you want to feel a little more respectable.

00:31:27.000 --> 00:31:30.000
Cross is the currency that makes it possible for everyone to get this.

00:31:30.000 --> 00:31:34.000
Jesus is our giver and you are the table across.

00:31:34.000 --> 00:31:36.000
You're the table across which God does the exchange.

00:31:36.000 --> 00:31:38.000
For the spirit of the Lord is upon you for this.

00:31:38.000 --> 00:31:43.000
When you read Isaiah 61, you see that it lies at the heart of it.

00:31:44.000 --> 00:31:49.000
Isaiah 61 is a disclosure of Kingdom activity.

00:31:49.000 --> 00:31:53.000
Is a disclosure of Kingdom activity.

00:31:56.000 --> 00:31:59.000
Isaiah 61 is a disclosure of Kingdom activity.

00:31:59.000 --> 00:32:00.000
That's one.

00:32:00.000 --> 00:32:02.000
Two, I love the second one.

00:32:02.000 --> 00:32:06.000
It's a decree of Jubilee.

00:32:07.000 --> 00:32:09.000
I'll just go over it shortly.

00:32:09.000 --> 00:32:17.000
Three, because it's a decree of Jubilee, it's a proclamation accompanied by acts of exchange.

00:32:17.000 --> 00:32:21.000
Accompanied by acts of exchange.

00:32:28.000 --> 00:32:30.000
So just think of that.

00:32:30.000 --> 00:32:33.000
Isaiah 61 is a disclosure of Kingdom activity.

00:32:33.000 --> 00:32:37.000
The Beatitudes are in a sense drawn from Isaiah 61.

00:32:37.000 --> 00:32:39.000
It's a disclosure of Kingdom activity.

00:32:39.000 --> 00:32:41.000
I'm here to preach the good news to the poor.

00:32:41.000 --> 00:32:43.000
I'm here to exchange.

00:32:43.000 --> 00:32:45.000
I'm here to announce.

00:32:45.000 --> 00:32:50.000
It's this idea of a proclamation accompanied by acts of exchange.

00:32:50.000 --> 00:32:59.000
And you'll find that there are three proclamations.

00:32:59.000 --> 00:33:02.000
When you read Isaiah 61, there are three types of proclamations.

00:33:02.000 --> 00:33:05.000
You'll find that there are three proclamations.

00:33:05.000 --> 00:33:10.000
When you read Isaiah 61, there are three times where the word proclaim or announce is used.

00:33:10.000 --> 00:33:14.000
And there are five times where the word instead is used.

00:33:14.000 --> 00:33:17.000
Three times the word proclaim, five times the word instead.

00:33:17.000 --> 00:33:19.000
I'll give you beauty instead of ashes.

00:33:19.000 --> 00:33:21.000
I'll give you the oil of joy instead of mourning.

00:33:21.000 --> 00:33:24.000
I'll give you this instead of that.

00:33:24.000 --> 00:33:25.000
There's always an instead.

00:33:25.000 --> 00:33:29.000
But before the instead happens, there's always an announcement.

00:33:30.000 --> 00:33:32.000
So it requires two sequential steps.

00:33:32.000 --> 00:33:35.000
Announce it, exchange it.

00:33:35.000 --> 00:33:39.000
Give me your ashes and I'll pray and exchange a beauty.

00:33:39.000 --> 00:33:40.000
Give me your mourning.

00:33:40.000 --> 00:33:41.000
I'll trade it for joy.

00:33:41.000 --> 00:33:43.000
Give me your despair and your broken heart.

00:33:43.000 --> 00:33:47.000
I'll release joy and I'll release songs of praise.

00:33:47.000 --> 00:33:51.000
So if you announce it, the person knows what the person will get.

00:33:51.000 --> 00:33:54.000
If you don't announce it, they don't know.

00:33:54.000 --> 00:33:55.000
And announcing is hard.

00:33:55.000 --> 00:34:00.000
And that's something we have to learn because the proclamation part is important before the instead part.

00:34:00.000 --> 00:34:03.000
The instead happens after the proclamation.

00:34:03.000 --> 00:34:05.000
Any questions on that?

00:34:05.000 --> 00:34:10.000
The proclamation is hard because look at what we are saying.

00:34:10.000 --> 00:34:13.000
We are saying, hey, listen, you have ashes.

00:34:13.000 --> 00:34:17.000
You give me the ashes and I say to you that Jesus will give you beauty.

00:34:17.000 --> 00:34:19.000
So you're proclaiming it.

00:34:19.000 --> 00:34:21.000
Now, without proclamation, there's no hope.

00:34:21.000 --> 00:34:22.000
There's no expectation.

00:34:22.000 --> 00:34:25.000
One must create expectation.

00:34:25.000 --> 00:34:28.000
That's why proclamation is important.

00:34:28.000 --> 00:34:31.000
Without proclamation, there is no expectation.

00:34:31.000 --> 00:34:36.000
So when people come to pray, we go through this.

00:34:36.000 --> 00:34:40.000
We tell them what is going to happen.

00:34:40.000 --> 00:34:44.000
So they will be in expectation to receive the healing.

00:34:44.000 --> 00:34:46.000
Yeah. And you will be very frightened.

00:34:46.000 --> 00:34:48.000
And then you will also begin to expect.

00:34:49.000 --> 00:34:54.000
Yeah. Because sometimes when you do this the first time, you're thinking to yourself, how am I going to deliver on this?

00:34:54.000 --> 00:34:59.000
That's when you realize that you now have to really trust the one who can deliver.

00:34:59.000 --> 00:35:03.000
And that he is faithful.

00:35:03.000 --> 00:35:06.000
He is faithful.

00:35:06.000 --> 00:35:10.000
So proclamation creates expectation in the person.

00:35:10.000 --> 00:35:13.000
Proclamation puts you in a spot too, which is good.

00:35:13.000 --> 00:35:17.000
A demand must be placed on you.

00:35:17.000 --> 00:35:21.000
Till I say it, there's no demand on me.

00:35:21.000 --> 00:35:25.000
But the moment I say it, now there's a demand on me.

00:35:31.000 --> 00:35:39.000
Announce instead two words used eight times together in Isaiah 61.

00:35:39.000 --> 00:35:41.000
It's a disclosure of kingdom activity.

00:35:41.000 --> 00:35:43.000
This is what I do.

00:35:43.000 --> 00:35:45.000
Who is the agent of the kingdom activity?

00:35:45.000 --> 00:35:47.000
The Holy Spirit.

00:35:47.000 --> 00:35:49.000
Who gives? Jesus.

00:35:49.000 --> 00:35:51.000
What's the currency? The cross.

00:35:51.000 --> 00:35:53.000
What's the counter of exchange? You.

00:35:57.000 --> 00:35:59.000
Let me read Isaiah 61.

00:35:59.000 --> 00:36:03.000
Just quickly, just the first few verses.

00:36:03.000 --> 00:36:21.000
The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me because the Lord has anointed me to proclaim the good news to the poor.

00:36:21.000 --> 00:36:29.000
He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives,

00:36:29.000 --> 00:36:35.000
to release from darkness for the prisoners, to proclaim the year of the Lord's favor, or Jubilee,

00:36:35.000 --> 00:36:40.000
and the day of vengeance of our God, to comfort all who mourn,

00:36:40.000 --> 00:36:47.000
and provide for those who grieve in Zion, to bestow upon them a crown of beauty instead of ashes,

00:36:47.000 --> 00:36:54.000
the oil of gladness instead of mourning, a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair.

00:36:54.000 --> 00:36:57.000
And it goes on.

00:36:59.000 --> 00:37:03.000
Boy oh boy.

00:37:03.000 --> 00:37:07.000
Yeah, that's an instead.

00:37:07.000 --> 00:37:10.000
Two more points and we're done.

00:37:10.000 --> 00:37:17.000
Guys, if you look at Matthew 10, verse 1-8 and Luke 9-16,

00:37:17.000 --> 00:37:23.000
Matthew 10, verse 1-8 and Luke 9, verse 16,

00:37:23.000 --> 00:37:36.000
you'll find that Jesus has given me authority over sickness.

00:37:36.000 --> 00:37:44.000
Matthew 10, verse 1-8, people could say, oh, it was only given to the twelve.

00:37:44.000 --> 00:37:48.000
If you think that, I can lead you to other scriptures where it was given to everybody.

00:37:48.000 --> 00:37:50.000
But assuming you won't think that,

00:37:50.000 --> 00:37:53.000
Matthew 10 actually says,

00:38:03.000 --> 00:38:08.000
it says, he called his twelve disciples to him and gave them authority to drive out evil spirits

00:38:08.000 --> 00:38:14.000
and to heal every disease and sickness.

00:38:14.000 --> 00:38:21.000
Sickness. Luke 9-16.

00:38:21.000 --> 00:38:23.000
The sound you hear is the turning of pages.

00:38:23.000 --> 00:38:27.000
If you miss it, bring a real Bible.

00:38:27.000 --> 00:38:32.000
Luke 9-16.

00:38:32.000 --> 00:38:34.000
Nope, it's not Luke 9-16.

00:38:34.000 --> 00:38:38.000
It's, let me try Matthew 9-16.

00:38:38.000 --> 00:38:41.000
Anyways, it's this idea of Jesus giving authority over sickness.

00:38:41.000 --> 00:38:46.000
Matthew 9-16.

00:38:46.000 --> 00:38:47.000
Nope.

00:38:47.000 --> 00:38:50.000
Too bad.

00:38:50.000 --> 00:38:52.000
Here's the odd thing though.

00:38:52.000 --> 00:38:55.000
When Jesus sends out his disciples,

00:38:55.000 --> 00:38:56.000
I don't understand this.

00:38:56.000 --> 00:38:59.000
Why doesn't he say, pray for the sick?

00:38:59.000 --> 00:39:08.000
Why does he say, heal the sick?

00:39:08.000 --> 00:39:12.000
There's an odd expectation that Christ has, eh?

00:39:12.000 --> 00:39:16.000
He didn't say, I send you out now to pray for the sick.

00:39:16.000 --> 00:39:20.000
He said, I send you out now to heal the sick.

00:39:20.000 --> 00:39:26.000
We are the ones who say, go pray for the sick.

00:39:26.000 --> 00:39:32.000
He seems to give authority to heal sicknesses and to drive out demons.

00:39:32.000 --> 00:39:35.000
You can do it through prayer. I'm not saying don't pray.

00:39:35.000 --> 00:39:38.000
What I'm saying is just saying, pray for the sick.

00:39:38.000 --> 00:39:41.000
He's saying, heal the sick.

00:39:41.000 --> 00:39:45.000
This is the expectation that Christ has when he sends me out as a representative,

00:39:45.000 --> 00:39:50.000
that I'll behave like him.

00:39:50.000 --> 00:39:52.000
Jesus doesn't say, pray for the sick.

00:39:52.000 --> 00:39:54.000
He says, heal the sick.

00:39:54.000 --> 00:39:56.000
Then he says, after you heal the sick,

00:39:56.000 --> 00:40:00.000
and then he says, before you seal the sick, proclaim the kingdom.

00:40:00.000 --> 00:40:02.000
Proclaim that my rule is here.

00:40:02.000 --> 00:40:04.000
Proclaim that they can taste it.

00:40:04.000 --> 00:40:07.000
But heal the sick.

00:40:07.000 --> 00:40:12.000
I'm hoping that just going over this again and again will begin to change the way we think.

00:40:12.000 --> 00:40:17.000
It becomes a natural way of thinking.

00:40:17.000 --> 00:40:21.000
We all forgot what rain smelled like and felt like till today.

00:40:21.000 --> 00:40:24.000
I mean, I'll regret these words in a month.

00:40:24.000 --> 00:40:28.000
But rain was a pleasant thing today.

00:40:28.000 --> 00:40:30.000
You get used to a certain way of functioning.

00:40:30.000 --> 00:40:35.000
You have to change the way you function.

00:40:35.000 --> 00:40:39.000
Last point.

00:40:39.000 --> 00:40:47.000
Mark 16.

00:40:47.000 --> 00:40:51.000
Verse 17.

00:40:51.000 --> 00:40:58.000
Is Jesus telling the truth?

00:40:58.000 --> 00:41:11.000
And these signs shall follow those who believe.

00:41:11.000 --> 00:41:16.000
These signs shall accompany those who believe.

00:41:16.000 --> 00:41:18.000
Is he telling the truth?

00:41:18.000 --> 00:41:20.000
I went to check what the word believe means.

00:41:20.000 --> 00:41:22.000
Did he mean people who are showing faith?

00:41:22.000 --> 00:41:23.000
No.

00:41:23.000 --> 00:41:25.000
Believe as in those that are believers.

00:41:25.000 --> 00:41:26.000
These signs shall follow.

00:41:26.000 --> 00:41:29.000
They shall lay hands upon the sick and the sick shall be healed.

00:41:29.000 --> 00:41:31.000
They shall speak in new tongues.

00:41:31.000 --> 00:41:33.000
They shall drive out demons.

00:41:33.000 --> 00:41:35.000
They shall pick up serpents.

00:41:35.000 --> 00:41:37.000
They shall drink poison and it shall not affect them.

00:41:37.000 --> 00:41:41.000
These signs shall accompany those that believe.

00:41:41.000 --> 00:41:43.000
Is this true or is this not?

00:41:48.000 --> 00:41:50.000
It's so hard to wrap our head around these things.

00:41:50.000 --> 00:41:57.000
This is how it works and this is how we ought to be.

00:41:57.000 --> 00:41:58.000
Not for ourselves.

00:41:58.000 --> 00:42:02.000
See, one of the things we have to understand is all this is not for ourselves.

00:42:02.000 --> 00:42:05.000
We have a church body where we can come.

00:42:05.000 --> 00:42:07.000
People can pray for you.

00:42:07.000 --> 00:42:08.000
You know enough scriptures.

00:42:08.000 --> 00:42:09.000
But what about out there?

00:42:09.000 --> 00:42:12.000
Build a church for the world and give Jesus away.

00:42:12.000 --> 00:42:17.000
Give Jesus away by realizing that he is precious to you

00:42:17.000 --> 00:42:20.000
and you can only give away something precious if you love someone.

00:42:20.000 --> 00:42:22.000
Therefore love the world.

00:42:22.000 --> 00:42:25.000
That ain't enough because Jesus lives in you.

00:42:25.000 --> 00:42:28.000
Therefore the only way you can give him away is by giving yourself away.

00:42:28.000 --> 00:42:32.000
Questions?

00:42:32.000 --> 00:42:39.000
Okay, so we're going to end with,

00:42:39.000 --> 00:42:42.000
I just want to speak the name of Jesus.

00:42:42.000 --> 00:42:45.000
Sing it for yourself.

00:42:45.000 --> 00:42:48.000
Sing it for yourself.

00:42:48.000 --> 00:42:50.000
Yeah?
