That's exactly what happened. And so he says, I will follow you wherever you go. And so he brings up immediately the fact that following me and 00:11:22.220 --> 00:11:27.900 following me and if it demands going will require high inconvenience, are you ready? 00:11:28.860 --> 00:11:32.700 He said to another man, follow me. But the man replied, Lord, first let me go 00:11:32.700 --> 00:11:37.900 and bury my father. So this was not going with Jesus. This was going to take care of the things 00:11:37.900 --> 00:11:42.700 that needed to be taken care of. When he says, let me go bury my father, what he's saying is, 00:11:42.700 --> 00:11:47.340 once my father dies, once things have been sorted out in terms of the inheritance, 00:11:47.340 --> 00:11:50.540 once the property has been divided, then I will come and follow you. 00:11:52.380 --> 00:11:59.020 That's what it actually means. So he is going, but he's going in an opposite direction and he'll 00:11:59.020 --> 00:12:07.660 follow when it's convenient. And the third one is, Jesus said to him, let the dead bury their own 00:12:07.660 --> 00:12:12.620 dead, but you go and proclaim the kingdom of God. Again, the word go is so common in this 00:12:12.620 --> 00:12:19.180 paragraph. Still another said, I will follow you, Lord, but let me first go back and say goodbye to 00:12:19.180 --> 00:12:24.460 my family. Jesus replied, no one who puts his hand to the plow and looks back is fit for service in 00:12:24.460 --> 00:12:31.500 the kingdom of God. So this idea of follow and go is totally enmeshed. You can't separate it. Any 00:12:31.500 --> 00:12:42.860 questions on that? And so over the next four weeks, perhaps except for our Christmas Eve service, 00:12:42.860 --> 00:12:50.220 we will be focusing on this word go. So that in January, we'll know what the rest of the year 00:12:50.220 --> 00:12:55.500 should look like. And we'll throw challenges even today for those of us who need to go or want to go 00:12:55.500 --> 00:13:08.620 or have a desire to go, but don't know how and where. Why are we separating follow and go? Because 00:13:09.580 --> 00:13:15.340 following is easy if going is not necessary. And so why not separate it and come up with statements 00:13:15.340 --> 00:13:19.740 like, you don't have to go across the oceans, you just have to go to your neighbor. And we never do 00:13:19.740 --> 00:13:24.700 that because I don't know. I've got seven neighbors on my floor. I know only two of them, because it's 00:13:25.740 --> 00:13:31.500 not kosher to go and knock on someone's door. So we separate it and we send missionaries. 00:13:33.180 --> 00:13:36.940 So it becomes convenient for the rest of the church. 00:17:21.760 --> 00:17:28.760 They decided to build a tower called the Tower of Babel, and they decided to settle. 00:17:29.760 --> 00:17:36.760 And God is so against the idea of settling that he actually intervenes to scatter. 00:17:38.760 --> 00:17:39.760 Hear me again. 00:17:39.760 --> 00:17:41.760 And it can happen to the best of churches, eh? 00:17:41.760 --> 00:17:43.760 Let's assume we are the best of churches. 00:17:43.760 --> 00:17:48.760 It can happen to us too, where when a people begin to settle, God will scatter. 00:17:51.760 --> 00:17:53.760 And how will he scatter? 00:17:53.760 --> 00:17:57.760 Very odd ways, which we will blame the devil for. 00:17:58.760 --> 00:17:59.760 But he will scatter. 00:18:00.760 --> 00:18:03.760 How did he scatter people around the Tower of Babel? 00:18:03.760 --> 00:18:05.760 He caused confusion. 00:18:05.760 --> 00:18:07.760 He caused misunderstanding. 00:18:08.760 --> 00:18:10.760 They could not understand each other. 00:18:10.760 --> 00:18:12.760 They could not communicate with each other. 00:18:12.760 --> 00:18:13.760 It was confusion. 00:18:13.760 --> 00:18:18.760 People scattered because there was confusion and inability to communicate. 00:18:19.760 --> 00:18:25.760 God sometimes, because he is a go forth God, actually scatters. 00:18:25.760 --> 00:18:30.760 When people do not go and try to follow. 00:18:30.760 --> 00:18:35.760 Because his very command right from Genesis 3 is, go forth. 00:18:41.760 --> 00:18:43.760 And going forth is not easy. 00:18:43.760 --> 00:18:44.760 It's always messy. 00:18:44.760 --> 00:18:47.760 I mean, you know how difficult it is to send your kids off, 00:18:47.760 --> 00:18:50.760 and for kids you know how difficult it is once you are sent off. 00:18:50.760 --> 00:18:53.760 You want to leave when your parents want you home, 00:18:53.760 --> 00:18:57.760 but once you leave you realize, oh shucks, them paying the bills was so much better. 00:19:00.760 --> 00:19:06.760 I remember once I started earning, I bought my own soap and my own shampoo and my own toothpaste 00:19:06.760 --> 00:19:11.760 and I put it in the certain part of the washroom and I told my dad, 00:19:11.760 --> 00:19:13.760 you don't have to pay for anything anymore. 00:19:13.760 --> 00:19:15.760 I got my soap, my toothpaste and my... 00:19:15.760 --> 00:19:17.760 He got so upset. 00:19:17.760 --> 00:19:20.760 He says, go buy soap and toothpaste and stuff for all of us. 00:19:20.760 --> 00:19:21.760 I'm not paying your car insurance. 00:19:21.760 --> 00:19:22.760 I'm not paying for your car. 00:19:22.760 --> 00:19:23.760 I'm not paying... 00:19:23.760 --> 00:19:25.760 I immediately said, nope, I'm taking it all back. 00:19:27.760 --> 00:19:33.760 So going forth is never rosy, never done well. 00:19:33.760 --> 00:19:37.760 It's always stops and starts. 00:19:37.760 --> 00:19:38.760 It's stuttering, stammering. 00:19:38.760 --> 00:19:40.760 There's no easy going forth. 00:19:40.760 --> 00:19:45.760 The decision can be decisive, but the process is not. 00:19:45.760 --> 00:19:46.760 Please hear me. 00:19:46.760 --> 00:19:50.760 The decision has to be decisive, but the process is not. 00:19:50.760 --> 00:19:55.760 The process is prolonged and it has a lot of stumbling and stuttering and stammering. 00:19:55.760 --> 00:20:02.760 Example, Jesus goes says to Peter and his brother John, follow me. 00:20:02.760 --> 00:20:04.760 These guys are cleaning their nets with their dad. 00:20:04.760 --> 00:20:09.760 The moment he says, follow me, they have no cost benefit analysis. 00:20:09.760 --> 00:20:12.760 They drop their nets, say goodbye to their father and walk away. 00:20:12.760 --> 00:20:14.760 It's fascinating what they do. 00:20:14.760 --> 00:20:19.760 They don't know the rabbi well enough, but he's saying, follow me and they leave everything 00:20:19.760 --> 00:20:20.760 and they follow him. 00:20:20.760 --> 00:20:26.760 But after that begins the process that's prolonged and Peter and John and everybody stumbles. 00:20:26.760 --> 00:20:27.760 They deny him. 00:20:27.760 --> 00:20:28.760 They go fishing. 00:20:28.760 --> 00:20:30.760 They go back to fishing. 00:20:30.760 --> 00:20:33.760 They mess up, but the decision was decisive. 00:20:33.760 --> 00:20:37.760 And that is important when it comes to going. 00:20:37.760 --> 00:20:38.760 The decision is decisive. 00:20:38.760 --> 00:20:42.760 And once you make that decision, you can always go back to that point of decision. 00:20:42.760 --> 00:20:48.760 But what happens with us because we've separated to go and follow is that we never arrive at the moment 00:20:48.760 --> 00:20:49.760 of decision. 00:20:49.760 --> 00:20:53.760 We keep postponing it, keep postponing it, keep postponing it. 00:20:53.760 --> 00:21:00.760 When I'm married, when my dad or mom die, when the property comes into hand, when my education is over, 00:21:00.760 --> 00:21:06.760 when I have got my commercial pilot's license, when I have become a realtor, when I have done that, 00:21:06.760 --> 00:21:09.760 when I have done this, then I will do this and then I will do that. 00:21:09.760 --> 00:21:15.760 When my child is 16, do you know how long it takes for a child to get to 16? 00:21:16.760 --> 00:21:19.760 Phew! 00:21:26.760 --> 00:21:28.760 We can't do that, eh? 00:21:28.760 --> 00:21:31.760 The decision has to be very decisive. 00:21:31.760 --> 00:21:36.760 And then let the process be up and down and prolonged. 00:21:36.760 --> 00:21:38.760 That's different. 00:21:46.760 --> 00:21:55.760 When you look at the Book of Acts, you've heard this before, but you'll see continuous go happening. 00:21:55.760 --> 00:22:05.760 Acts 1.1 to 6.7 is Jerusalem. 00:22:05.760 --> 00:22:15.760 Acts 6.8 to 9.31, Judea, Samaria. 00:22:15.760 --> 00:22:19.760 And there's a system to it, eh? 00:22:19.760 --> 00:22:21.760 God is strategic. 00:22:21.760 --> 00:22:27.760 It may not be logical to you and I, but it is strategic always because the Spirit of God is brilliant. 00:22:27.760 --> 00:22:29.760 He's a genius. 00:22:30.760 --> 00:22:35.760 I mean, what a time for Christianity to advance. 00:22:35.760 --> 00:22:37.760 What was the time? 00:25:19.760 --> 00:25:21.760 How do you go to North Korea? 00:25:21.760 --> 00:25:22.760 How do you go to Russia? 00:25:22.760 --> 00:25:23.760 How do you go to China? 00:25:23.760 --> 00:25:26.760 How do you go to certain parts of India? 00:25:26.760 --> 00:25:32.760 But every time Go is resisted, the gospel spreads. 00:25:32.760 --> 00:25:36.760 Every time Go is resisted, the gospel spreads. 00:25:37.760 --> 00:25:43.760 It's almost like every time Go is resisted, God says, alright, let me flex my authority. 00:25:49.760 --> 00:25:54.760 So because he now has authority, meaning he is now the master, he has jurisdiction, 00:25:54.760 --> 00:25:59.760 he's the one who says open or shut, because he has that, he says now you can go. 00:26:02.760 --> 00:26:05.760 That used to belong to somebody else, he took it back. 00:26:07.760 --> 00:26:09.760 Any questions? 00:27:27.760 --> 00:27:36.760 I had an opportunity, a real, like not an invitation, an actual opportunity to go and teach English in North Korea. 00:27:37.760 --> 00:27:42.760 And I thought about it, I prayed about it, got scared and said no. 00:27:43.760 --> 00:27:45.760 It was only a six month stint. 00:27:46.760 --> 00:27:47.760 But I said no. 00:27:48.760 --> 00:27:51.760 Because I was scared of what would happen if you went to North Korea. 00:27:51.760 --> 00:27:52.760 And so I said no. 00:27:54.760 --> 00:27:59.760 So fear is one reason why we won't go. 00:28:01.760 --> 00:28:10.760 Another reason we won't go is because of these two words, comfort and convenience. 00:28:12.760 --> 00:28:15.760 You know, this, we have to be careful about, 00:28:15.760 --> 00:28:17.760 is comfort and convenience. 00:28:20.760 --> 00:28:22.760 You know, this we can deal with. 00:28:22.760 --> 00:28:25.760 Many of us know how to go beyond our comfort. 00:28:25.760 --> 00:28:27.760 We do that on a regular basis. 00:28:27.760 --> 00:28:33.760 But when it comes to going, convenience is high priority for first world people. 00:28:36.760 --> 00:28:44.760 And so convenience can be anything from don't have enough days to the cost of tickets is too high to it's raining. 00:28:45.760 --> 00:28:48.760 To I have to feed my cat. 00:28:48.760 --> 00:28:53.760 To my kid has piano lessons with Sheldon. 00:28:54.760 --> 00:28:56.760 To stuff like that. 00:28:57.760 --> 00:29:00.760 Convenience is high priority. 00:29:02.760 --> 00:29:07.760 The idea of inconvenience goes against every grain of self preservation in me. 00:29:07.760 --> 00:29:11.760 So I'll find the most convenient time for things to happen. 00:29:11.760 --> 00:29:15.760 And the most convenient time may not be a now time. 00:29:18.760 --> 00:29:20.760 That's the catch. 00:29:22.760 --> 00:29:25.760 The idea is not to feel rebuked as we talk about it. 00:29:25.760 --> 00:29:29.760 The idea is to recognize these things. 00:29:29.760 --> 00:29:51.760 The third one is if my heart, this is a tough one, if my heart is set on family, work, money, 00:29:51.760 --> 00:30:11.760 possessions before Christ and the body both go together, then I will struggle to go. 00:30:11.760 --> 00:30:13.760 I'm not talking about going abroad. 00:30:13.760 --> 00:30:15.760 I'm talking about go anywhere that the spirit is leading me. 00:30:15.760 --> 00:30:17.760 This becomes a struggle. 00:30:19.760 --> 00:30:25.760 If my heart is set on family, work, money, possession before Christ and the body, then I'll struggle to go. 00:30:25.760 --> 00:30:27.760 Here's something else that happens. 00:30:27.760 --> 00:30:32.760 We don't go because we don't have enough time to go. 00:30:32.760 --> 00:30:34.760 We don't have enough time to go. 00:30:34.760 --> 00:30:36.760 We don't have enough time to go. 00:30:36.760 --> 00:30:38.760 Here's something else that happens. 00:30:38.760 --> 00:30:56.760 We don't go because when we went, we had bad experiences or the money for the ticket didn't come back. 00:30:56.760 --> 00:31:06.760 Or nothing happened. 00:31:06.760 --> 00:31:13.760 This is what disciples are made of. 00:31:13.760 --> 00:31:16.760 They go places and they have really bad experiences. 00:31:16.760 --> 00:31:21.760 They get attacked by spiritual powers and physical human beings. 00:31:21.760 --> 00:31:24.760 Paul used to call them beasts sometimes. 00:31:24.760 --> 00:31:31.760 Other times they're almost broke after having gone because there's nothing to show. 00:31:31.760 --> 00:31:33.760 Other times nothing happened. 00:31:33.760 --> 00:31:34.760 He goes to Athens. 00:31:34.760 --> 00:31:40.760 He preaches an amazing sermon that we preach on today, but he didn't get a single convert and he comes back. 00:31:40.760 --> 00:31:43.760 All three are real and all three are reasons not to go again. 00:31:43.760 --> 00:31:53.760 It is nice to trust that God will provide these cliches that we have. 00:31:53.760 --> 00:31:56.760 They're not untrue. 00:31:56.760 --> 00:32:00.760 Where God sends, he will provide. 00:32:00.760 --> 00:32:04.760 And that the sender is responsible for the one he sends. 00:32:04.760 --> 00:32:07.760 All those are true, but it doesn't mean dollar for dollar. 00:32:07.760 --> 00:32:15.760 There's not crypto, though crypto is doing really well. 00:32:15.760 --> 00:32:18.760 Say praise the Lord if you want to. 00:32:18.760 --> 00:32:26.760 But the point is that these are some of the reasons we don't go. 00:32:26.760 --> 00:32:33.760 Another reason is professionalism. 00:32:33.760 --> 00:32:38.760 We don't go because there are enough professionals who will go. 00:32:38.760 --> 00:32:40.760 That's what they studied for. 00:32:40.760 --> 00:32:42.760 That's the organization they joined. 00:32:42.760 --> 00:32:44.760 That's what they are meant to do. 00:32:44.760 --> 00:32:51.760 Missionaries, evangelists, those guys, they'll go. 00:33:31.760 --> 00:33:36.760 We'll stop with this. 00:33:36.760 --> 00:33:43.760 Concerns like go where? 00:33:43.760 --> 00:33:47.760 How long? 00:33:47.760 --> 00:33:51.760 With whom? 00:33:51.760 --> 00:33:54.760 What for? 00:33:54.760 --> 00:33:58.760 What about? 00:33:58.760 --> 00:34:13.760 When these are unanswered, it becomes difficult. 00:34:13.760 --> 00:34:20.760 And yet this is the life of any of the twelve that walked with Jesus. 00:34:20.760 --> 00:34:25.760 So any questions on these? 00:34:25.760 --> 00:34:33.760 Professionals so that the rest of us can pay for them. 00:34:33.760 --> 00:34:39.760 I can mow the lawn, but why not pay you to do it? 00:34:39.760 --> 00:34:43.760 Less sweat. 00:34:43.760 --> 00:34:47.760 So the church has professionals too who take care of this. 00:34:47.760 --> 00:34:53.760 And so once that's taken care of, all we need to do is have a mission Sunday once a year. 00:34:53.760 --> 00:34:58.760 Bring a missionary who's dressed up in strange clothes to talk about what he's doing there, 00:34:58.760 --> 00:35:12.760 and set up a table in the lobby, and sponsor him, and write out a check. 00:35:12.760 --> 00:35:16.760 I'm praying that we all end up in the lobby wearing strange clothes, 00:35:16.760 --> 00:35:24.760 and only Toonie is left here wearing his hood. 00:35:24.760 --> 00:35:29.760 Wouldn't that be wonderful? --> 00:35:57.760 then when we have bad experiences, when professionals take care of things, 00:35:57.760 --> 00:36:02.760 when we need results, because it's a result-oriented world, right? 00:36:02.760 --> 00:36:06.760 And concerns like go where, how long, when those things are not clearly defined, 00:36:06.760 --> 00:36:16.760 going becomes very difficult. 00:36:16.760 --> 00:36:19.760 This is the upside down kingdom, guys. 00:36:19.760 --> 00:36:25.760 This does not function like the world. 00:36:25.760 --> 00:36:32.760 The question that we have to ask is, can Sharon give up her education tomorrow, 00:36:32.760 --> 00:36:38.760 because she hears clearly God is asking her to go to some place? 00:36:38.760 --> 00:36:43.760 Can she say, I'm almost at the end of my education. 00:36:43.760 --> 00:36:46.760 If I stop now, I might have to repeat another year. 00:36:46.760 --> 00:36:49.760 It's going to cost me a lot. My parents are going to be quite upset. 00:36:49.760 --> 00:36:57.760 It's a really bad idea. Why can't I wait five months more? 00:36:57.760 --> 00:37:01.760 Can George, who is jobless, say, I'll be jobless for three more months 00:37:01.760 --> 00:37:07.760 because I need to go to a certain place? 00:37:07.760 --> 00:37:09.760 So that's the question. 00:37:09.760 --> 00:37:14.760 It's a tough question, and I pray that all of us meet that place, 00:37:14.760 --> 00:37:18.760 come to that encounter, and if we fail, so be it. 00:37:18.760 --> 00:37:21.760 We can get up and try again. 00:37:21.760 --> 00:37:35.760 It's not an easy thing, and God has tremendous grace. 00:37:35.760 --> 00:37:38.760 Here was a question I was asking myself, because I go, 00:37:38.760 --> 00:38:03.760 but the question was, has go become a cause, or has go an adventure with God? 00:38:03.760 --> 00:38:10.760 On my way back from India, I was watching a documentary called Canary. 00:38:10.760 --> 00:38:16.760 It's about a guy who, before climate change even was a buzzword, 00:38:16.760 --> 00:38:22.760 he began to notice the thinning of ice caps in different parts of the world, 00:38:22.760 --> 00:38:30.760 and so he dedicates his life to preserving the knowledge you can get out of ice caps 00:38:30.760 --> 00:38:34.760 in places that are remote, and he had to go drill. 00:38:34.760 --> 00:38:36.760 He had to take heavy equipment. 00:38:36.760 --> 00:38:41.760 At the end of the day, when he was 80 or so, he had a pacemaker, 00:38:41.760 --> 00:38:45.760 and he still went, and he holds the record for the guy who wore a pacemaker 00:38:45.760 --> 00:38:50.760 and has gone to the highest altitude ever to do what he does. 00:38:50.760 --> 00:38:54.760 And as I'm watching it, I'm thinking of myself, and his wife talks about him, 00:38:54.760 --> 00:38:57.760 his daughter talks about him, his friends talk about him, 00:38:57.760 --> 00:39:03.760 and the one thing that stood out in the entire story was that this man had a cause. 00:39:03.760 --> 00:39:06.760 The question is, is this a cause? 00:39:06.760 --> 00:39:12.760 David asks, when people are hiding from Goliath and rushing back into the foxholes 00:39:12.760 --> 00:39:20.760 every time Goliath comes up, the question David asks is, is there not a cause? 00:39:20.760 --> 00:39:26.760 So sometimes when I go, am I going because of the adventure that you can go on with God, 00:39:26.760 --> 00:39:34.760 or is there a cause where you come back and you fit a pacemaker and you go again? 00:39:34.760 --> 00:39:40.760 When you come back and you realize you've just spent hundreds and thousands of dollars on a helicopter 00:39:40.760 --> 00:39:45.760 to take heavy drilling equipment up a mountain, and you realize that the altitude is, 00:39:45.760 --> 00:39:49.760 the air is so thin up there that the chopper is not able to take the drills up. 00:39:49.760 --> 00:39:55.760 You lose all that money, and now you have to reinvent drilling equipment that runs on solar power 00:39:55.760 --> 00:40:00.760 where nothing stops you. Why? Because it's consumed you as a cause. 00:40:00.760 --> 00:40:05.760 I ask myself this question. The reason I'm talking about myself is it's the only person I know really well. 00:40:05.760 --> 00:40:10.760 And so that you can ask yourself the same question. I ask this question of myself, 00:40:10.760 --> 00:40:16.760 Jacob, what is a cause in your life that you would spend anything for, stop short of nothing, 00:40:16.760 --> 00:40:19.760 invent stuff, do anything, but what is that one cause? 00:40:19.760 --> 00:40:24.760 And the only thing that I absolutely know is a cause in my life is Acts 29. 00:40:24.760 --> 00:40:29.760 This thing that we are building here is a cause for me. I'd do anything for it. 00:40:29.760 --> 00:40:33.760 Anything for it. Nothing is too much. Nothing is too less. 00:40:33.760 --> 00:40:38.760 But then the question, the next question I ask myself is, so when you go, is it a cause? 00:40:38.760 --> 00:40:41.760 And the surprising answer is no, it's an adventure. 00:40:41.760 --> 00:40:48.760 And I want to shift from an adventure with God to going being a cause because you cannot follow without going. 00:40:48.760 --> 00:40:53.760 It should consume me to the point where it doesn't matter when, where, how, 00:40:53.760 --> 00:40:58.760 whether it's helpful or not, whether there's hostility or not, whether it's a difficult place or not, 00:40:58.760 --> 00:41:03.760 that you go because it's become a cause and God is saying, follow my spirit and go. 00:41:03.760 --> 00:41:11.760 Then you go into the wilderness where Satan tempts you and you come back stronger. 00:41:12.760 --> 00:41:18.760 And it doesn't have to be far off. 00:41:18.760 --> 00:41:27.760 And so to the guys who go to Wall-E, is it a cause? 00:41:27.760 --> 00:41:31.760 Is it a cause? 00:41:31.760 --> 00:41:35.760 When it's a cause, then going is so easy. 00:41:45.760 --> 00:41:52.760 When go becomes a cause, when this becomes a cause, 00:41:52.760 --> 00:42:10.760 as in a purpose or a consuming reason that is a flame in passion, 00:42:11.760 --> 00:42:25.760 when go becomes a cause, God tailors it so you can mature. 00:42:30.760 --> 00:42:38.760 God tailors wherever you're going in such a way that you mature and tailors it so that you become fruitful. 00:42:40.760 --> 00:42:50.760 Any questions? 00:42:50.760 --> 00:42:54.760 Any questions? 00:42:54.760 --> 00:43:09.760 Yes, so sometimes adventure can consume us to the point where if there is no adventure, there is no vibrancy to it. 00:43:09.760 --> 00:43:22.760 Sometimes getting beaten or finding hostile places is not an adventure, but if it is a cause, you will still go. 00:43:22.760 --> 00:43:32.760 An adventure excites you. There's passion, there's results, there's friendship, there's camaraderie, there's things we do. 00:43:32.760 --> 00:43:39.760 But what if it's without all that? The cross was not an adventure. The cross was a cause. 00:43:39.760 --> 00:43:46.760 There's no adventure in that kind of excruciating pain, but it's a cause. 00:43:53.760 --> 00:43:55.760 Yes? 00:43:55.760 --> 00:44:03.760 There is various things coming into that, because if you don't see anything, obviously you can't see anything. 00:44:03.760 --> 00:44:10.760 Yes, I pray God that we see fruit because fruit is really encouraging. 00:44:10.760 --> 00:44:15.760 When fruit is not seen, then God will have to show us a city that is not built with hands. 00:44:15.760 --> 00:44:19.760 And he does that because he knows our level of discouragement. 00:44:19.760 --> 00:44:25.760 I mean, he knew Elijah's discouragement. He knew Paul's discouragement. 00:44:25.760 --> 00:44:31.760 He sends Paul multiple messages saying, don't worry, when you go to the city, there are people in the city who are with you. 00:44:31.760 --> 00:44:36.760 I'm with you. So sometimes when we don't see fruit, it can be discouraging. 00:44:36.760 --> 00:44:39.760 And when you don't see fruit, people will judge you by that too, eh? 00:44:39.760 --> 00:44:45.760 Saying, so what's happening? 00:44:45.760 --> 00:44:58.760 And so that's when God sends you reassurances by sending you either people or messages or himself turning up and showing Abraham a city that was built without visible hands. 00:44:58.760 --> 00:45:02.760 And that encourages Abraham. 00:45:02.760 --> 00:45:10.760 Some of us will work really hard and we'll see someone else get the credit for it. 00:45:10.760 --> 00:45:13.760 And you just hope he's your friend. 00:45:13.760 --> 00:45:27.760 It just stinks when it's someone who disagreed with you and they're still getting credit for all the work you did. 00:45:28.760 --> 00:45:33.760 Think of it this way. Jesus didn't see no fruit. 00:45:33.760 --> 00:45:37.760 He saw one out of the twelve still sticking around. 00:46:44.760 --> 00:46:51.760 Set people free from the oppression of the devil and heal them because the Holy Spirit was on him. 00:46:51.760 --> 00:47:09.760 Guys, we've talked about this before, but the best way to see this, people know presence when presence goes. 00:47:09.760 --> 00:47:14.760 People know presence when presence goes. 00:47:14.760 --> 00:47:18.760 Even in Exodus, what does God say? 00:47:18.760 --> 00:47:23.760 My presence will not stay with you, will go with you. 00:47:23.760 --> 00:47:26.760 Wherever presence goes, people will know it. 00:47:26.760 --> 00:47:29.760 Both the people that are going with it and the people that experience it. 00:47:29.760 --> 00:47:32.760 Wherever presence goes, people will know. 00:47:32.760 --> 00:47:48.760 And presence, where presence leads, people, his people must go. 00:47:48.760 --> 00:48:02.760 This is why Paul was smart enough to know that the presence of God in the person of the Holy Spirit was not going to Derby, 00:48:02.760 --> 00:48:04.760 was not going to Lystra. 00:48:04.760 --> 00:48:09.760 Acts 16, verse 6, and he comes to Bithynia and the Holy Spirit forbade him. 00:48:09.760 --> 00:48:13.760 And he came to another place and the Holy Spirit said, no. 00:48:13.760 --> 00:48:14.760 And he won't go. 00:48:14.760 --> 00:48:15.760 And so what does he do?
