00:00:00.000 --> 00:00:26.000
Faith. I thought I'd go back to Fortress Church after that, but I feel that we need to talk about how do we go from faith to glory, or what does that even mean?

00:00:26.000 --> 00:00:43.000
Is there a transition in between? I'd like to suggest to you that what we need to do is go from faith—not go from, as in understand faith—and then what does anointing mean, and then what does glory mean.

00:00:43.000 --> 00:00:52.000
We'll look at it today, and then we'll have a part two because I don't think today we'll be able to deal with, so what do we do now that we know it?

00:00:56.000 --> 00:01:11.000
Faith is the law of expectation. Faith that does not expect is not faith. So every time you say that, I have faith, your question should be immediately, then what is your expectation?

00:01:11.000 --> 00:01:24.000
If you say you have faith, what is your expectation? And your expectation may be credible, may be insignificant, may be a lot, may be a little, but it begins to define your faith.

00:01:24.000 --> 00:01:43.000
So any faith that has no expectation is not faith. So there's a law of expectation that's connected to the very word faith. And so why? Because there is power in expectancy.

00:01:43.000 --> 00:02:03.000
One who does not expect anything from God, according to Hebrews 11, it says, if you go to God, you should go to him with expectation that there is something that he will reward you with.

00:02:03.000 --> 00:02:16.000
To go to God without expectation and say you have faith is actually an anomaly. It's not true. And so what is your expectation? And then the next question would be, what do you base your expectation on?

00:02:16.000 --> 00:02:29.000
And that we've talked about. The expectation has to be based on his nature, on his word, and on his promise, in that order. That order is important. We mess with that order and it gets messed up.

00:02:29.000 --> 00:02:49.000
Expectation must be based on first his nature, then his word, and then his promise. What's the difference between word and promise? A promise is what is directly given to you and drawn out of the word.

00:02:49.000 --> 00:03:09.000
But it's impossible to understand his word without knowing his nature. And his nature is very simple. His nature is that of a father. Christianity is not very complicated once we look at God as father. It simplifies everything.

00:03:09.000 --> 00:03:29.000
Any questions on that? It's actually, when you boil it down to this core, it's actually so simple. Expectation is required if faith is real. If faith is real, one must have an expectation.

00:03:29.000 --> 00:03:46.000
The capacity of expectation we'll talk about later. But if faith is real, then one must have expectation. What is expectation based on? Expectation is based on first the nature of God, then the word of God, and then the promise of God.

00:03:46.000 --> 00:04:03.000
What's a promise? A promise is something that's directly spoken to you from the word, but the nature is what gives the word its correct interpretation. Because if you don't read it through the eyes of a father, we're finished.

00:04:03.000 --> 00:04:23.000
What often happens is people go for the promise without knowing the nature. Or people stick with the word and do not know the nature of God as a father. And it really messes you up. And you can stay messed up for 40 or 50 years, yeah?

00:04:23.000 --> 00:04:38.000
That's why it's critical that we teach our young kids that he is father. They get that right, they get 60, 70% of Christianity right. Then you only have to teach them English.

00:04:38.000 --> 00:05:03.000
The capacity of your expectation determines the large-ness of your faith.

00:05:03.000 --> 00:05:23.000
The capacity of your expectation determines the large-ness of your faith. And the scale of your exploits.

00:05:23.000 --> 00:05:34.000
The capacity of your expectation, what you expect. We said expectation must be based on the nature, the word, and the promise of God. But the capacity of expectation determines the large-ness of your faith.

00:05:34.000 --> 00:05:49.000
Sometimes, I mean, if I expect less, I do not have to exert much faith. One of the tricks that Christians play on themselves is to have low expectancy.

00:05:49.000 --> 00:06:06.000
Low expectancy hollows faith out. Once you have low expectancy, you don't get too disappointed. You can handle it if things don't work out. You don't care if it takes too long because your expectancy is low.

00:06:06.000 --> 00:06:29.000
There are so many of us that operate by the principle of what's the worst case scenario. That has nothing to do with Christ. And so our immediate approach to anything in life is what's the worst that can happen? And from there on it can get better. That's got nothing to do with Christ.

00:06:29.000 --> 00:06:46.000
So the capacity of my expectation determines the large-ness of my faith. And the large-ness of my faith then determines the scale of my exploits in Christ that are started by him, authored by him, sourced through him, fueled by him. Any questions?

00:06:46.000 --> 00:07:08.000
So one of the first things you should do when you say you're standing in faith is you must define what your expectation is. Otherwise, it's so undefined, so nebulous that it keeps changing.

00:07:08.000 --> 00:07:20.000
And one of the ways you define what you're standing for is by speaking it so that others hear. And now you'll either make a fool of yourself or you'll make God look brilliant.

00:07:20.000 --> 00:07:30.000
One of the ways we hide expectations is by never speaking about them. And if you don't speak about them, then we don't have to worry if it fails.

00:07:30.000 --> 00:07:46.000
Expectation speaks. Seen anybody here who keeps their marriage a secret? I don't want to tell anybody I'm getting married. I don't want to tell anybody I'm having a baby. I don't want to tell anybody I'm getting a new house.

00:07:46.000 --> 00:08:11.000
Did you know that Derek has a new car? How do you know that? Maybe I let the cat out of the bag. Bad example. Sorry, Derek. So at the end of the day, expectation speaks and that's how you make your expectation known.

00:08:11.000 --> 00:08:31.000
And sometimes Jesus deliberately asks that question that we started the service with. What do you want me to do for you? That allows Jesus to gauge your expectancy. Not because he doesn't know it, but he wants you to hear it.

00:08:31.000 --> 00:08:49.000
It allows him to gauge your expectancy. It was a Jesus question that was deliberate because who goes and asks a blind man what he wants? And yet, when Jesus went and asked the man who was lying by the pool of Bethesda, what do you want me to do for you?

00:08:49.000 --> 00:08:59.000
The guy doesn't say, I want my legs healed. He goes and says, I've been lying here for so many years. Every time the water is stirred by somebody, nobody puts me in. He doesn't say he wants to get healed. Strange, eh?

00:08:59.000 --> 00:09:19.000
And so define your expectations. How do you define expectations? Again, we go back to what we said earlier. Through the nature, the word, and the promise of God in that order. You can't change the order.

00:09:19.000 --> 00:09:28.000
Hey, that little child, I forgot to introduce her. She's my cousin's daughter, Korean and Ruth's daughter. That's Elizabeth. Do a Lion King with her quickly.

00:09:28.000 --> 00:09:34.000
Okay, she might burp. Don't do the Lion King right now.

00:09:34.000 --> 00:09:39.000
Yeah.

00:09:39.000 --> 00:10:05.000
Yeah. Sometimes when you begin to speak of your expectations, know that people may scoff. When you speak of your expectations, people may mock, scoff, laugh.

00:10:05.000 --> 00:10:20.000
But that's part of the territory of faith. It comes with that. So you see in 1 Samuel 17, verse 28, you see David, he's quite riled up because Goliath is beginning to defy the armies of Israel.

00:10:20.000 --> 00:10:32.000
And so David at one point begins to say, so what will you give to the guy who brings Goliath down? And as he goes about doing this, Eliab, his older brother, comes and says, what's wrong with you?

00:10:32.000 --> 00:10:45.000
You're so self-conceited. You're so proud. Who do you think you are? And begins to scoff at him. So when you begin to speak of your expectations, it's likely that people will laugh at you.

00:10:45.000 --> 00:10:58.000
I know I've talked to you about Kony, the circle drawer. It's such an amazing story. It really affected me where this guy, it's from Hebrew folklore. His village hadn't had rain for years.

00:10:58.000 --> 00:11:05.000
So what does he do? He goes to the town square, draws a circle around him, and he says, I'm going to stand here till it rains.

00:11:05.000 --> 00:11:14.000
People say, who does he think he is? He thinks he can stand there and pray and God will send rain. And he stands there and prays, and God begins to send rain.

00:11:14.000 --> 00:11:27.000
But the rain is like little droplets, eh? And so people say, okay, Kony, so you got what you wanted. And he says, no, these are little droplets. After the drought we've had, this rain ain't enough.

00:11:27.000 --> 00:11:38.000
And so he refuses to move. And now the teachers and pastors get even more riled up. Who does this little punk think he is, that he can stand there and demand rain when God has given him rain?

00:11:38.000 --> 00:11:48.000
And then it begins to rain profusely, eh? Big drops. So much so that the ground is being completely ripped open. And they say, okay, Kony, so you got your rain.

00:11:48.000 --> 00:11:58.000
And Kony says, no, this rain isn't from God. He's a father. This is way too violent. It's going to destroy our land and our crops. I want rain that's profuse but not violent.

00:11:58.000 --> 00:12:09.000
And he stands there. And after some time it begins to rain. And this time the rain is just plenty, but it's not violent. And he's standing in the circle enjoying it.

00:12:09.000 --> 00:12:19.000
And then they say, all right, Kony, so you did what you said. God has given you rain. Come back in now. And then he says, no, this is so good, I just want to stand and get soaked.

00:12:19.000 --> 00:12:30.000
And so he stands there and gets soaked in the rain. The point being, this man had the ability to expect certain thing of God. What he expected was not rain. He expected a certain kind of rain.

00:12:30.000 --> 00:12:39.000
Why did he expect a certain kind of rain? Because he knew the nature of God. And then once he begins to expect that kind of rain, he begins to enjoy it.

00:12:39.000 --> 00:12:50.000
But he declares what he's going to do and draws a circle in the town square so that people know what he's up to. That is the nature of biblical faith.

00:12:50.000 --> 00:12:55.000
Any questions?

00:12:55.000 --> 00:13:07.000
How do we know who to tell this to? Initially tell it to people that you're sure won't laugh at you. Then as you get braver, begin to declare it louder.

00:13:07.000 --> 00:13:13.000
Yeah, there are things that we shouldn't share. Here's the point.

00:13:13.000 --> 00:13:22.000
Our problem is not oversharing when it comes to faith. It's undersharing. So we need to swing the pendulum the other way so that we land in the middle.

00:13:22.000 --> 00:13:30.000
Our problem is not that we don't share. Our problem is we like to keep it quiet until it's a sure thing and then we speak about it.

00:13:30.000 --> 00:13:36.000
Because we don't want God to get a bad name. But the real thing is we don't want to look foolish if it doesn't happen.

00:13:36.000 --> 00:13:41.000
God's gotten a bad name for centuries. He can handle it.

00:13:41.000 --> 00:13:52.000
Expectancy. Once you have expectancy, it always initiates bold action.

00:13:52.000 --> 00:13:57.000
It always initiates bold action.

00:13:57.000 --> 00:14:02.000
If you are expectant, it initiates bold action. And so you'll see stuff like Abraham.

00:14:02.000 --> 00:14:12.000
What does Abraham do once God calls him out? He starts counting the stars because he knows that his children will be as many as the stars.

00:14:12.000 --> 00:14:18.000
He changes his name from Abe to David.

00:14:18.000 --> 00:14:24.000
God calls him out. He starts counting the stars because he knows that his children will be as many as the stars.

00:14:24.000 --> 00:14:36.000
He changes his name from Abraham to Abraham. He begins to call his wife Sarah, not Sarai.

00:14:36.000 --> 00:14:40.000
Moses. Once he knows God's going to deliver them, he stretches out his staff.

00:14:40.000 --> 00:14:45.000
Can you imagine stretching out your staff and nothing happening?

00:14:45.000 --> 00:14:49.000
He can throw him into the sea just like Jonah.

00:14:49.000 --> 00:14:53.000
Moses stretches out his staff.

00:14:53.000 --> 00:14:58.000
Later on he decides that the blood of bulls and goats will keep all the children in Israel safe.

00:14:58.000 --> 00:15:06.000
So he uses the bloodline. There's always something that expectancy initiates.

00:15:06.000 --> 00:15:11.000
At one point, Aaron and her help Moses hold up his hands.

00:15:11.000 --> 00:15:29.000
And then later, Joshua stretches out his javelin because he saw it happen before, till the battle in Ai was completed.

00:15:29.000 --> 00:15:37.000
The woman decides that she's been sick with an issue of blood for so long that she has to do something that might even make Jesus unclean.

00:15:37.000 --> 00:15:43.000
But it has to be done. And so she goes and touches his garments.

00:15:43.000 --> 00:15:51.000
All expectancy always ends up in some action that requires boldness and initiates a process.

00:15:51.000 --> 00:15:56.000
When we started the church in New York, and sometimes it's so odd to see Jobin and Bessie here right now.

00:15:56.000 --> 00:16:00.000
They belong to the church in New York. But I remember going with Sheldon.

00:16:00.000 --> 00:16:06.000
Sheldon and I were walking the streets of New York knowing that God is going to help us plant a church in Manhattan.

00:16:06.000 --> 00:16:11.000
So we're walking up and down. All we're doing is walking up and down and praying.

00:16:11.000 --> 00:16:15.000
But we knew that a day is going to come when there will be a church in New York.

00:16:15.000 --> 00:16:19.000
And today there is and there are multiple meetings happening every month.

00:16:19.000 --> 00:16:28.000
So praise God for initial action. You have to have bold initial action that declares your expectancy.

00:16:28.000 --> 00:16:33.000
And when we don't do that, and we're scared to do that, go back to the nature of God.

00:16:33.000 --> 00:16:39.000
Go back to the Word of God. Go back to the promise. To say I don't have faith is an easy way out.

00:16:39.000 --> 00:16:44.000
If I do not have faith, I've got to go back to the nature of God. Is he a father? Okay.

00:16:44.000 --> 00:16:48.000
So let me begin having conversations with my father.

00:16:48.000 --> 00:16:52.000
And then I go to the Word. And then I go to the promise.

00:16:57.000 --> 00:17:02.000
Grace is given freely. It's received as a responsibility.

00:17:09.000 --> 00:17:10.000
Any questions?

00:17:10.000 --> 00:17:17.000
And guys, learn to stay in expectancy. Learn to stay in expectancy.

00:17:17.000 --> 00:17:23.000
Because sometimes expectancy is exchanged for diluted hope.

00:17:26.000 --> 00:17:30.000
And then wishes, wishful thinking.

00:17:30.000 --> 00:17:35.000
Now, stay here. Don't come down here. Don't go here.

00:17:35.000 --> 00:17:42.000
Learn how to stay in expectancy. One of the ways expectancy is fueled is by talking about it to others.

00:17:42.000 --> 00:17:47.000
One of the ways expectancy is fueled, when you know it's a God thing,

00:17:47.000 --> 00:17:55.000
you need to go and begin to speak your expectations of God to others.

00:17:57.000 --> 00:18:00.000
There's a thing called the expectation of God.

00:18:00.000 --> 00:18:02.000
Expectations of God to others.

00:18:04.000 --> 00:18:08.000
There's a thing to proclamation that is so critical to God.

00:18:09.000 --> 00:18:19.000
You see, Jesus is doing this. His expectation was that Lazarus would not remain dead.

00:18:19.000 --> 00:18:26.000
And so his words agree with what God is telling him to do.

00:18:26.000 --> 00:18:30.000
Be it, this is not unto death. Or be it, he's only sleeping.

00:18:32.000 --> 00:18:34.000
His words would agree.

00:18:37.000 --> 00:18:42.000
That's the only bit about faith that I wanted to touch on today because we hadn't touched on it last week.

00:18:42.000 --> 00:18:44.000
Any questions on that?

00:18:44.000 --> 00:18:52.000
So at the end of the day what we are saying is that faith must carry in it the law of expectation.

00:18:52.000 --> 00:18:57.000
And there is power in expectancy. And if I don't have an expectation, it's not faith.

00:19:00.000 --> 00:19:01.000
Any questions?

00:19:04.000 --> 00:19:05.000
Go ahead, Meera.

00:19:05.000 --> 00:19:09.000
How does God explain this in another word?

00:19:09.000 --> 00:19:18.000
I don't know what to expect. I think that God planned it better for me so I expect something specific.

00:19:18.000 --> 00:19:20.000
How does that align with that?

00:19:20.000 --> 00:19:26.000
Yeah. So how do you balance the expectation that you have with the will of God?

00:19:26.000 --> 00:19:33.000
This is where our Father who art in heaven hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done here on earth as it is in heaven.

00:19:33.000 --> 00:19:46.000
So my expectation is built on what I know is the will of God, which is found either in his nature or in the word or in the promise that he directly gives.

00:19:46.000 --> 00:19:53.000
So one has to find out the will of God so that you can build your expectation on it.

00:19:53.000 --> 00:20:05.000
So for instance, for my birthday if you got me a green tea, that's wonderful, that's very thoughtful of you, kind of you, but it's not very thoughtful because I don't like green tea.

00:20:05.000 --> 00:20:10.000
So find my will first. Ah, the guy likes really dark coffee.

00:20:10.000 --> 00:20:14.000
So if you get me a dark coffee I'll be thrilled.

00:20:14.000 --> 00:20:19.000
But if you get me green tea I'll say thank you but I'll probably re-gift it to somebody.

00:20:19.000 --> 00:20:25.000
If someone has given me green tea in the past I apologize.

00:20:25.000 --> 00:20:29.000
I just realized that was a possibility. I am really sorry.

00:20:29.000 --> 00:20:32.000
Something's come out during teaching that I don't expect.

00:20:32.000 --> 00:20:39.000
So now it's Mira's job to find out what is Jacob's will.

00:20:39.000 --> 00:20:48.000
Because if she doesn't know Jacob's will, what she then spends her money on, spends her effort on is futile because she gave me green tea which I don't like.

00:20:48.000 --> 00:20:55.000
So yes, you don't balance it, you find it and then build on it.

00:20:55.000 --> 00:21:00.000
And finding it is difficult. Finding it can only come through relationship.

00:21:00.000 --> 00:21:06.000
And so then begins the whole process of relating to God as a father.

00:21:06.000 --> 00:21:11.000
That begins to unveil his thinking.

00:21:11.000 --> 00:21:19.000
And that's a lifelong thing. So you'll get to a place when you turn 60 where you know the thoughts and the emotions and the ways of God.

00:21:19.000 --> 00:21:26.000
Isn't that brilliant? For who has the mind of Christ? We. Why?

00:21:26.000 --> 00:21:34.000
Because that's what the scriptures say the Holy Spirit does for us in 1 Corinthians 2.

00:21:34.000 --> 00:21:38.000
It's an easy answer but it's a difficult process because it's a relationship, right?

00:21:38.000 --> 00:21:42.000
Go ahead, Nick.

00:21:42.000 --> 00:21:47.000
Should one put timelines on their expectations?

00:21:47.000 --> 00:21:54.000
If you look at Abraham, no. If you look at Noah, no. If you look at Moses, no.

00:21:54.000 --> 00:21:57.000
If you look at some of those guys in Hebrews 11, no.

00:21:57.000 --> 00:22:01.000
But meaning things could take time.

00:22:01.000 --> 00:22:08.000
All things could take time because of many different reasons which we can't go into right now.

00:22:08.000 --> 00:22:14.000
But what if God also says that, hey, this is the timeframe where I want things done?

00:22:14.000 --> 00:22:19.000
Then you have a timeframe. If he doesn't, things may take time.

00:22:19.000 --> 00:22:24.000
But it's time that tests faith, right? It's always time that tests faith.

00:22:27.000 --> 00:22:34.000
And it's at that juncture that I revert to being a son to my father.

00:22:34.000 --> 00:22:39.000
Not being a devotee to God, not being a faith-filled disciple to Christ.

00:22:39.000 --> 00:22:42.000
I go back to being a son to my father.

00:22:42.000 --> 00:22:48.000
The moment I go back to being a son to my father, everything will be alright.

00:22:48.000 --> 00:22:52.000
Because once again, I'm like Jackson in his father's arms.

00:22:52.000 --> 00:22:56.000
And he knows he's safe there. He knows he'll be provided for.

00:22:56.000 --> 00:23:03.000
Even if his baby formula doesn't arrive in time, he knows he'll not starve to death.

00:23:03.000 --> 00:23:06.000
Everything will be alright.

00:23:06.000 --> 00:23:09.000
It's the hardest thing to do, guys, running into your father's arms.

00:23:09.000 --> 00:23:12.000
It's the one thing that Satan will always try to do.

00:23:12.000 --> 00:23:18.000
Alienate you from your father's arms and yet allow you to be friends with God.

00:23:18.000 --> 00:23:22.000
Here's a trick. Here's a trick when it comes to Christians.

00:23:22.000 --> 00:23:25.000
Make them believe and be disciples of Christ.

00:23:25.000 --> 00:23:28.000
Make them become devotees of their Lord and Savior.

00:23:28.000 --> 00:23:31.000
But do not let them know him as father.

00:23:31.000 --> 00:23:37.000
Because the day they know him as father, everything changes.

00:23:42.000 --> 00:23:46.000
What did Adam lose in the garden? Fatherhood.

00:23:46.000 --> 00:23:51.000
What did the Spirit of God come to restore? Fatherhood.

00:23:51.000 --> 00:23:54.000
Abba Father.

00:23:58.000 --> 00:24:08.000
I never get tired of saying that because it's strange how every system in the world is attuned to do one thing.

00:24:08.000 --> 00:24:13.000
Alienate man from his father.

00:24:13.000 --> 00:24:23.000
Okay. We go on to this thing called anointing.

00:24:23.000 --> 00:24:30.000
So the title today is Faith to Glory. In between is this thing called anointing.

00:24:30.000 --> 00:24:38.000
On one hand, the very name Christ means anointed one.

00:24:38.000 --> 00:24:48.000
And so he lives in us by his Spirit.

00:24:48.000 --> 00:24:52.000
And so John put it this way in 1 John.

00:24:52.000 --> 00:25:00.000
We have the anointing. Christ itself, the word itself means anointed one.

00:25:00.000 --> 00:25:05.000
So we're not trying to say that the anointed one doesn't live in us.

00:25:05.000 --> 00:25:22.000
We're talking about this idea of anointing as a supernatural empowering of the Spirit.

00:25:22.000 --> 00:25:32.000
You can use the word in you, on you to accomplish God's purpose.

00:25:32.000 --> 00:25:37.000
This is real. How do we know it's real?

00:25:37.000 --> 00:25:45.000
Because without this, there is no Jubilee.

00:25:45.000 --> 00:25:52.000
There is no making all things new.

00:25:52.000 --> 00:25:57.000
And so we go to that critical scripture, Isaiah 61, verse 1 to 5.

00:25:57.000 --> 00:26:06.000
Where it says, the Spirit of the Lord is upon me, for he has anointed me to bring good news to the poor,

00:26:06.000 --> 00:26:08.000
to open the eyes of the blind.

00:26:08.000 --> 00:26:15.000
And you see the list of things that the anointing accomplishes.

00:26:15.000 --> 00:26:21.000
Let's just pray for Kez's baby. Father, we just pray for Kez's baby right now.

00:26:21.000 --> 00:26:27.000
He's just waiting to come out, Lord, and he wants to come out a little ahead of time.

00:26:27.000 --> 00:26:30.000
And you're okay with that.

00:26:30.000 --> 00:26:37.000
And so we thank you for this baby that will arrive soon.

00:26:37.000 --> 00:26:42.000
We bless this boy about looking forward to him.

00:26:42.000 --> 00:26:47.000
So even as we speak, Father, I just thank you that by your Spirit,

00:26:47.000 --> 00:26:52.000
you'll stir him up right now.

00:26:52.000 --> 00:26:57.000
That you'll stir him even now as we pray at the church for this baby that's in the womb waiting to come out.

00:26:57.000 --> 00:27:02.000
We thank the Spirit of God that he touched his baby even as we pray right now.

00:27:02.000 --> 00:27:06.000
Like you have with John the Baptist and with others,

00:27:06.000 --> 00:27:11.000
may your hand touch this boy, let him know you early.

00:27:12.000 --> 00:27:17.000
Right now he may just sense what he's sensing.

00:27:17.000 --> 00:27:20.000
He may not know you, but a day is coming very soon when he will.

00:27:20.000 --> 00:27:23.000
So we as a church bless this boy, Father.

00:27:23.000 --> 00:27:28.000
We bless him right now. We speak peace upon Kez.

00:27:28.000 --> 00:27:35.000
And pray a short labor about him. In Jesus' name. Amen.

00:27:35.000 --> 00:27:38.000
Yeah, Isaiah 61, verse 1 to 5.

00:27:38.000 --> 00:27:42.000
The Spirit of the Lord is on me, for he has anointed me.

00:27:42.000 --> 00:27:49.000
So the idea of anointing was something that even Jesus needed.

00:27:49.000 --> 00:27:54.000
Other scriptures that talk about it, Acts 10.38.

00:27:54.000 --> 00:27:59.000
Jesus Christ of Nazareth was anointed with the Holy Spirit and with power.

00:27:59.000 --> 00:28:02.000
Sorry, go ahead.

00:28:02.000 --> 00:28:07.000
When you were talking about Father, there's so much authority and revelation that you carry.

00:28:07.000 --> 00:28:10.000
I just want to draw it in.

00:28:10.000 --> 00:28:15.000
I want to just take all that I can and spread it.

00:28:15.000 --> 00:28:20.000
Because there's revelation in this church of the Spirit of the Father.

00:28:20.000 --> 00:28:26.000
I would honestly say I don't have that revelation quite yet.

00:28:26.000 --> 00:28:29.000
And I would love to have that revelation.

00:28:29.000 --> 00:28:32.000
Where is that revelation that it comes from?

00:28:32.000 --> 00:28:35.000
That you have such authority when you speak on it.

00:28:35.000 --> 00:28:37.000
I can sense that.

00:28:37.000 --> 00:28:40.000
I think it just came through years of knowing it.

00:28:40.000 --> 00:28:44.000
And now perhaps it comes out with authority.

00:28:44.000 --> 00:28:46.000
And it is yours for the taking.

00:28:46.000 --> 00:28:48.000
When are you leaving? Are you and your husband?

00:28:48.000 --> 00:28:49.000
We'll meet tomorrow.

00:28:49.000 --> 00:28:51.000
Okay, we'll try and meet this evening.

00:28:51.000 --> 00:28:53.000
Okay.

00:28:53.000 --> 00:28:58.000
Because this church does have a grasp of the Father.

00:28:58.000 --> 00:29:01.000
And it's just His grace given to us.

00:29:01.000 --> 00:29:04.000
So what He's recognizing is true.

00:29:04.000 --> 00:29:07.000
And one shouldn't back away from it, right?

00:29:07.000 --> 00:29:11.000
Good, thank you.

00:29:11.000 --> 00:29:19.000
So Acts 10.38, Jesus Christ, Jesus of Nazareth was anointed with Holy Spirit and with power.

00:29:19.000 --> 00:29:20.000
Why?

00:29:20.000 --> 00:29:27.000
So that He could go around doing good and delivering those that were harassed by the devil.

00:29:27.000 --> 00:29:30.000
Luke 5.17.

00:29:30.000 --> 00:29:36.000
Luke 5.17 says that the Spirit of God was present to heal.

00:29:36.000 --> 00:29:38.000
That suddenly, this is crazy.

00:29:38.000 --> 00:29:44.000
In Jesus' life, there was a moment in Luke 5.17 where it says the Spirit of God was present there.

00:29:44.000 --> 00:29:49.000
There was an anointing to heal.

00:29:49.000 --> 00:29:54.000
What if we began to recognize the anointing that's present in a place?

00:29:54.000 --> 00:29:56.000
I remember being in Ulaanbaatar.

00:29:56.000 --> 00:30:02.000
And I was scared because people expected Jesus to heal.

00:30:02.000 --> 00:30:06.000
I'm fine with Jesus healing, but not through me because I don't know how to do it.

00:30:06.000 --> 00:30:10.000
And so people line up and I'm in the back while worship is going on.

00:30:10.000 --> 00:30:15.000
I'm pacing, speaking in tongues, singing songs, telling myself scriptures.

00:30:15.000 --> 00:30:18.000
Why? To drum up some faith.

00:30:18.000 --> 00:30:22.000
And at some point God said, listen, you can do all this and it won't work.

00:30:22.000 --> 00:30:26.000
Why don't you just settle down and I'll take care of it?

00:30:26.000 --> 00:30:30.000
And so finally after the worship, I go up and people turn up for healing.

00:30:30.000 --> 00:30:37.000
And you could see that the power of God was present to heal to the point that I started calling up kids.

00:30:37.000 --> 00:30:41.000
Because it didn't matter who laid hands on the sick person.

00:30:41.000 --> 00:30:43.000
The sick would get healed.

00:30:43.000 --> 00:30:45.000
It did not matter.

00:30:45.000 --> 00:30:48.000
It didn't matter whether it was your Mongolian interpreter.

00:30:48.000 --> 00:30:51.000
It didn't matter whether it was a young child that was sitting up front.

00:30:51.000 --> 00:30:53.000
It didn't matter who laid hands.

00:30:53.000 --> 00:30:55.000
Christ was there to heal.

00:30:55.000 --> 00:30:59.000
What if you recognize the anointing that's in a place?

00:30:59.000 --> 00:31:07.000
Where you discern or not even discern, you just know that our shucks Jesus, you're here to do this.

00:31:07.000 --> 00:31:12.000
These are the things God's inviting us to recognize.

00:31:12.000 --> 00:31:16.000
And then a whole service can shift.

00:31:16.000 --> 00:31:19.000
That's how this works.

00:31:19.000 --> 00:31:24.000
Luke 517, another scripture that talks about anointing is Acts 1-8.

00:31:24.000 --> 00:31:26.000
That hey, listen, just wait.

00:31:26.000 --> 00:31:28.000
I'll send you power.

00:31:28.000 --> 00:31:31.000
Because anointing is always connected with the idea of power.

00:31:31.000 --> 00:31:32.000
I'll send you power.

00:31:32.000 --> 00:31:37.000
And that power will make you witnesses from one end of the earth to other.

00:31:37.000 --> 00:31:41.000
So what do we do if we want to handle anointing?

00:31:41.000 --> 00:31:45.000
There's a process to receive it.

00:31:45.000 --> 00:31:50.000
There's a process to receive it and release it.

00:31:50.000 --> 00:32:04.000
One, there has to be yieldedness because yieldedness creates inflow.

00:32:04.000 --> 00:32:07.000
I'll just go through the list and then we can talk about it.

00:32:07.000 --> 00:32:20.000
Next, faithfulness creates capacity.

00:32:20.000 --> 00:32:24.000
Third, these are critical, man.

00:32:24.000 --> 00:32:26.000
Write it down and try to memorize it.

00:32:26.000 --> 00:32:35.000
Character creates usability.

00:32:35.000 --> 00:32:47.000
Four, order creates a framework to work within, as in you know your boundaries.

00:32:47.000 --> 00:32:57.000
Five, giftedness, as in spiritual giftedness, creates room.

00:32:57.000 --> 00:33:12.000
And finally, foolishness creates outflow.

00:33:12.000 --> 00:33:18.000
Beautiful, eh?

00:33:18.000 --> 00:33:25.000
So to receive and release the anointing, the first thing I require is a yieldedness,

00:33:25.000 --> 00:33:30.000
as in I want, what does yieldedness really look like?

00:33:30.000 --> 00:33:35.000
At the end of the day, yieldedness simply looks like a surrender of self-will.

00:33:35.000 --> 00:33:37.000
Surrender of self-will.

00:33:37.000 --> 00:33:39.000
It's not to say I will do anything you want.

00:33:39.000 --> 00:33:46.000
It is to say I don't want to do this, but I like you most so I'll surrender my will to you.

00:33:46.000 --> 00:33:48.000
That's the difference, eh?

00:33:48.000 --> 00:33:53.000
People think to surrender your will is to say I'm willing.

00:33:53.000 --> 00:34:00.000
Now, it's to say I really am not willing, but because I like you, I'll lay it down.

00:34:00.000 --> 00:34:04.000
Help me, because I really don't want to.

00:34:04.000 --> 00:34:06.000
That's what it looks like.

00:34:06.000 --> 00:34:09.000
So the first one is yieldedness.

00:34:09.000 --> 00:34:15.000
Yieldedness creates inflow, as in the spirit of God says, ha, here's a guy who really doesn't want to,

00:34:15.000 --> 00:34:19.000
but he really wants to lay down his not wanting to.

00:34:19.000 --> 00:34:20.000
Let me move into his life.

00:34:20.000 --> 00:34:22.000
Yieldedness creates inflow.

00:34:22.000 --> 00:34:24.000
Faithfulness creates capacity.

00:34:24.000 --> 00:34:30.000
Faithfulness creates capacity, as in the spirit of God looks more than anything else in a person's life

00:34:30.000 --> 00:34:32.000
for two things, faithfulness and character.

00:34:32.000 --> 00:34:34.000
Will you be faithful?

00:34:34.000 --> 00:34:36.000
If I began to use you, will you be faithful?

00:34:36.000 --> 00:34:37.000
Will it be on and off?

00:34:37.000 --> 00:34:39.000
Will you have good days and bad days?

00:34:39.000 --> 00:34:40.000
Or will you be consistent?

00:34:40.000 --> 00:34:46.000
Can I expect average out of you where it's a line that doesn't go up and down?

00:34:46.000 --> 00:34:48.000
Faithfulness creates capacity.

00:34:48.000 --> 00:34:49.000
Your capacity increases.

00:34:49.000 --> 00:34:51.000
Your domain increases.

00:34:51.000 --> 00:34:54.000
The radius of your influence increases with faithfulness.

00:34:54.000 --> 00:34:56.000
The next one is character.

00:34:56.000 --> 00:34:59.000
Character creates usability.

00:34:59.000 --> 00:35:01.000
2 Timothy 2.20.

00:35:01.000 --> 00:35:05.000
In a wealthy home are vessels, some of gold and some of clay.

00:35:05.000 --> 00:35:08.000
The good ones are used for guests, the bad ones kept away.

00:35:08.000 --> 00:35:14.000
If you stay away from sin, you're like a vessel of gold, used for the very best, used for Christ alone.

00:35:14.000 --> 00:35:16.000
2 Timothy 2.20.

00:35:16.000 --> 00:35:22.000
Character creates usability.

00:35:22.000 --> 00:35:25.000
Where God says, here's a clean plate I can use.

00:35:25.000 --> 00:35:27.000
So let's begin using this person.

00:35:27.000 --> 00:35:30.000
Order creates a framework.

00:35:30.000 --> 00:35:33.000
Remember, we talked about 2 Timothy 2.1-7.

00:35:33.000 --> 00:35:39.000
Verse 3 or 4 says, listen, you're a soldier enlisted in an army.

00:35:39.000 --> 00:35:42.000
And there are ways you function.

00:35:42.000 --> 00:35:45.000
Order creates a framework.

00:35:45.000 --> 00:35:51.000
These are the boundaries that are presently set for me by Christ and his body.

00:35:51.000 --> 00:35:55.000
And within these boundaries I will operate.

00:35:55.000 --> 00:35:58.000
Order creates a framework.

00:35:58.000 --> 00:36:00.000
Giftedness creates room.

00:36:00.000 --> 00:36:04.000
Proverbs says that your gifts will bring you before kings.

00:36:04.000 --> 00:36:09.000
Discover your gift and you'll find that you can go into the marketplace, you can sit on a plane,

00:36:09.000 --> 00:36:15.000
you can go into the king's palace or you can go into a slum and your gift will open room for you.

00:36:15.000 --> 00:36:19.000
Every time I go traveling, every time I'm sitting with anybody who's not a believer,

00:36:19.000 --> 00:36:22.000
one of the gifts I use is the prophetic.

00:36:22.000 --> 00:36:27.000
I can sit there and tell a person without saying, thus says the Lord, in a tone that's not at all

00:36:27.000 --> 00:36:30.000
God-ish or loud or sounds base and heavy.

00:36:30.000 --> 00:36:36.000
I can tell them who they are and what God wants them to do and give them my name and number and say,

00:36:36.000 --> 00:36:37.000
call me when it happens.

00:36:37.000 --> 00:36:43.000
And invariably it opens up room for me in those lives or in those places.

00:36:43.000 --> 00:36:46.000
What's your gift? Because your gift is supposed to open room for you.

00:36:49.000 --> 00:36:50.000
Sometimes it's a spiritual gift.

00:36:50.000 --> 00:36:54.000
Sometimes it's just you open your mouth and you start singing and people freeze.

00:36:54.000 --> 00:36:56.000
It's like the Rockefeller tree.

00:36:56.000 --> 00:36:57.000
Everybody stares at it.

00:37:01.000 --> 00:37:04.000
So your giftedness creates room.

00:37:04.000 --> 00:37:08.000
And finally, foolishness creates outflow.

00:37:09.000 --> 00:37:11.000
The Holy Spirit moves through you.

00:37:11.000 --> 00:37:20.000
Once you decide you're willing to be foolish, anybody who is foolish will be somebody through whom the Spirit of God flows.

00:37:21.000 --> 00:37:26.000
If you're not foolish, if you want to maintain your dignity, it's highly unlikely.

00:37:29.000 --> 00:37:31.000
A foolishness will also be laughed at and frowned.

00:37:31.000 --> 00:37:34.000
Classic example, David dancing.

00:37:36.000 --> 00:37:38.000
Cause led to his divorce, man.

00:37:44.000 --> 00:37:45.000
Any questions on this?

00:37:47.000 --> 00:37:51.000
Or we can look at this and say, yeah, this is good, but not right now.

00:37:51.000 --> 00:37:58.000
Four or five years from now when I've graduated from college or when I have my own business or when my family is settled.

00:37:58.000 --> 00:37:59.000
That's what we normally do.

00:38:02.000 --> 00:38:03.000
Any questions?

00:38:13.000 --> 00:38:14.000
When it comes to anointing,

00:38:19.000 --> 00:38:20.000
when it comes to anointing,

00:38:25.000 --> 00:38:28.000
the believer must

00:38:32.000 --> 00:38:33.000
use faith

00:38:35.000 --> 00:38:37.000
to place a demand

00:38:41.000 --> 00:38:42.000
on the anointing.

00:38:42.000 --> 00:38:43.000
Anointing.

00:38:55.000 --> 00:38:56.000
To believe.

00:38:56.000 --> 00:39:02.000
When it comes to the anointing that one has, the believer must use faith to place a demand on the anointing.

00:39:02.000 --> 00:39:04.000
Hey, have you ever thought of this?

00:39:04.000 --> 00:39:06.000
So I know that I teach well.

00:39:07.000 --> 00:39:08.000
I have an anointing to teach.

00:39:08.000 --> 00:39:11.000
32 years has proven that and you being here has proven that.

00:39:11.000 --> 00:39:17.000
But have you ever wondered why I'm so confident that if you ask a question, I'll answer it.

00:39:17.000 --> 00:39:26.000
Actually, I'm not confident, but I do place a demand with faith on the fact that the Spirit of God is upon me to teach.

00:39:26.000 --> 00:39:33.000
And that if you ask a question, the scriptures will begin to move in my head like they move on a screen and I'll be able to give you the answer.

00:39:33.000 --> 00:39:38.000
You need to place a demand on the anointing that is there with faith.

00:39:38.000 --> 00:39:41.000
Unless you do that, you won't know how far you can go.

00:39:41.000 --> 00:39:44.000
It's like marathon runners or 100 meter sprinters.

00:39:44.000 --> 00:39:50.000
They're completely out of what it takes to get to the finish line, but they know how to place a demand.

00:39:50.000 --> 00:39:53.000
And the moment they place a demand, they're able to go that extra mile.

00:39:53.000 --> 00:40:00.000
Because anointing that is not demanded in faith will never see what it's actually capable of.

00:40:00.000 --> 00:40:01.000
And what are we talking about?

00:40:01.000 --> 00:40:06.000
We're talking about the supernatural empowering of the Spirit of God.

00:40:06.000 --> 00:40:07.000
How vast is that?

00:40:07.000 --> 00:40:08.000
How broad is that?

00:40:08.000 --> 00:40:10.000
Where's the end to it?

00:40:12.000 --> 00:40:13.000
Any questions?

00:40:13.000 --> 00:40:18.000
Anointing is the supernatural empowering of the Holy Spirit to accomplish a purpose.

00:40:18.000 --> 00:40:25.000
A gift that you possess is a supernatural ability to accomplish a purpose.

00:40:25.000 --> 00:40:29.000
And that is the supernatural ability to accomplish a purpose.

00:40:29.000 --> 00:40:33.000
And that is the supernatural但onment of the Holy Spirit.

00:40:33.000 --> 00:40:36.000
And that is the supernatural anointing of the Holy Spirit.

00:40:36.000 --> 00:40:38.000
How do you accomplish a purpose?

00:40:38.000 --> 00:40:48.000
A gift that you possess is a supernatural ability given to you by the Spirit of God for the benefit of others.

00:40:48.000 --> 00:40:49.000
There's a difference.

00:40:49.000 --> 00:40:51.000
One is to accomplish a larger purpose.

00:40:51.000 --> 00:40:54.000
The other one is a role that one plays towards an end.

00:41:02.000 --> 00:41:03.000
Any questions?

00:41:04.000 --> 00:41:05.000
Here's the crazy thing.

00:41:05.000 --> 00:41:15.000
Everybody in this church right now who has to an extent grown in the Lord and discovered things about the Lord and you,

00:41:15.000 --> 00:41:20.000
has the ability to place upon yourself a demand with faith, by faith,

00:41:20.000 --> 00:41:26.000
to perform at a level for Christ by his power at a level that he haven't performed yet.

00:41:26.000 --> 00:41:29.000
Tuni can take worship to another place.

00:41:29.000 --> 00:41:31.000
Someone who prophesies to another place.

00:41:31.000 --> 00:41:33.000
Someone who leads to another place.

00:41:33.000 --> 00:41:35.000
Someone who teaches to another place.

00:41:44.000 --> 00:41:47.000
You're looking at me like it doesn't apply to you, but it does, eh?

00:41:55.000 --> 00:41:56.000
Yep.

00:42:01.000 --> 00:42:02.000
Yeah.

00:42:06.000 --> 00:42:12.000
There were times when he, there were times when the Spirit of God was present

00:42:12.000 --> 00:42:15.000
and he knew that this was the moment where the Spirit of God wanted to heal

00:42:15.000 --> 00:42:18.000
and that anything that moved could be healed.

00:42:18.000 --> 00:42:22.000
It's the only place in Scripture where in Luke 5 it says,

00:42:22.000 --> 00:42:25.000
and the power of God was present to heal.

00:42:25.000 --> 00:42:27.000
And yet Christ came to the earth to heal.

00:42:27.000 --> 00:42:30.000
And yet why does it specifically then go in?

00:42:30.000 --> 00:42:32.000
Just pick on that part.

00:42:35.000 --> 00:42:37.000
We need to recognize it, eh?

00:42:37.000 --> 00:42:40.000
And to recognize it, then you begin to move into it.

00:42:40.000 --> 00:42:43.000
It's almost like an eagle that finds a thermal current.

00:42:44.000 --> 00:42:48.000
An eagle can fly, it can soar, and suddenly it finds this current

00:42:48.000 --> 00:42:52.000
and gets into the current and it begins to move at a pace that's remarkable.

00:43:01.000 --> 00:43:05.000
When it comes to anointing, anointing requires newness.

00:43:05.000 --> 00:43:13.000
Anointing requires two words that we can use, newness and filling.

00:43:14.000 --> 00:43:17.000
Where do we see that? We see that with David.

00:43:18.000 --> 00:43:25.000
It's strange how Samuel first comes and Samuel anoints David in 1 Samuel 16.13.

00:43:26.000 --> 00:43:31.000
And then you see David being approached by the people of Judah

00:43:31.000 --> 00:43:37.000
at this place called Hebron, and that's when he has his second anointing,

00:43:37.000 --> 00:43:41.000
and that's in 2 Samuel 2.4.

00:43:42.000 --> 00:43:45.000
And then you see later that Israel comes to him and says,

00:43:45.000 --> 00:43:49.000
we want you to be king, and so they anoint him a third time.

00:43:50.000 --> 00:43:53.000
And that's in 2 Samuel 5.3.

00:43:54.000 --> 00:43:59.000
And so depending on the phase that God brings you into,

00:44:02.000 --> 00:44:04.000
that God brings you into,

00:44:06.000 --> 00:44:18.000
the Spirit of God supernaturally empowers you for that phase.

00:44:23.000 --> 00:44:25.000
Just think of that.

00:44:26.000 --> 00:44:29.000
See, what we do not know, we do not inhabit.

00:44:29.000 --> 00:44:32.000
What we know, we can choose to inhabit.

00:44:32.000 --> 00:44:38.000
When you do not know, you can't inhabit because ignorance is not bliss in the kingdom.

00:44:38.000 --> 00:44:41.000
Once you know, you can choose to inhabit.

00:44:41.000 --> 00:44:49.000
So let's say someone is stepping into a certain place,

00:44:49.000 --> 00:44:56.000
stepping into a certain calling of God, a certain vocation at work,

00:44:56.000 --> 00:45:04.000
or stepping into a new phase with your family, stepping into another territory, another location.

00:45:04.000 --> 00:45:09.000
Go and ask God, Father, for this new phase in my life, for this new job,

00:45:09.000 --> 00:45:13.000
can you supernaturally empower me so that I begin to walk,

00:45:13.000 --> 00:45:17.000
not with what I had, but what you will give me?

00:45:20.000 --> 00:45:23.000
Intentionality always helps, guys.

00:45:23.000 --> 00:45:26.000
And you'll see the difference, eh?

00:45:27.000 --> 00:45:35.000
Let's assume I was to decide that, okay, next year I'm going to go settle in Timbuktu.

00:45:35.000 --> 00:45:38.000
Timbuktu needs a whole different way of functioning.

00:45:38.000 --> 00:45:40.000
None of you will be there.

00:45:40.000 --> 00:45:42.000
And so I'm in Timbuktu.

00:45:42.000 --> 00:45:46.000
I've got to go evangelize Timbuktu, or I've got to plant four churches in Timbuktu,

00:45:46.000 --> 00:45:48.000
or these guys are going back to Japan.

00:45:48.000 --> 00:45:55.000
When they go back to Japan, how are they going to function in Japan if this is a new phase in their life?

00:45:55.000 --> 00:45:57.000
What do they need to do?

00:46:03.000 --> 00:46:06.000
The supernatural empowering of God.

00:46:13.000 --> 00:46:17.000
What if I call Evan to plant a church day after tomorrow?

00:46:17.000 --> 00:46:22.000
What if Gael has to go back to Paris next week and start a new ministry?

00:46:22.000 --> 00:46:24.000
What does it take?

00:46:24.000 --> 00:46:26.000
You know in the Old Testament what they would do?

00:46:26.000 --> 00:46:30.000
They'd immediately call the prophet or the king or the priest, and they would anoint them for service.

00:46:30.000 --> 00:46:32.000
In the New Testament, what would they do?

00:46:32.000 --> 00:46:36.000
The presbytery would gather around, and they would call them forth, and they would anoint them,

00:46:36.000 --> 00:46:40.000
and they would begin to, through prophetic declarations, give them an idea of what God wanted.

00:46:40.000 --> 00:46:43.000
So it's not uncommon.

00:46:43.000 --> 00:46:49.000
It's just that we've shied away from these things because it looks too charismatic or looks too fluffy.

00:46:49.000 --> 00:46:54.000
And yes, sometimes it's fluffy, but we don't throw out everything just because it looks fluffy,

00:46:54.000 --> 00:46:58.000
or it doesn't look Baptist, or looks Pentecostal.

00:46:58.000 --> 00:47:03.000
Those are terms that we put on things that make them anathema, when they shouldn't be.

00:47:03.000 --> 00:47:09.000
Either I'm really connecting today, and you guys are amazingly, or I'm not connecting at all.

00:47:09.000 --> 00:47:15.000
I'm going to go with the first one.

00:47:15.000 --> 00:47:20.000
In other words, that's used when we talk about anointing its filling.

00:47:20.000 --> 00:47:24.000
And you see that in the Bible as well.

00:47:24.000 --> 00:47:28.000
And I'm going to go with the first one.

00:47:28.000 --> 00:47:32.000
So that's what anointing its filling.

00:47:32.000 --> 00:47:39.000
And you see that in the Bible. I'll just give you the scriptures, Acts 4, 29-31.

00:47:39.000 --> 00:47:47.000
I love the story where Samson knows that he's lost his strength, and they're making fun of him.

00:47:47.000 --> 00:47:51.000
They've drawn him out into this huge arena where the Philistines are making fun of him,

00:47:51.000 --> 00:47:55.000
and he goes and tells the boy, can you place both my hands, one hand on each pillar?

00:47:55.000 --> 00:48:01.000
And then he calls out to God in Judges 16. He calls out to God saying, one more time, oh God, just one more time,

00:48:01.000 --> 00:48:04.000
give me back the strength I had.

00:48:04.000 --> 00:48:10.000
It's the same cry he used to have when he'd pick up the jawbone of an ass and make it a weapon of mass destruction.

00:48:10.000 --> 00:48:16.000
It's the same thing that would happen when he would break his locks free of Delilah's yarn.

00:48:16.000 --> 00:48:23.000
Only this time, it is give me one more chance, oh God, where my hair has grown, but it had nothing to do with the hair.

00:48:23.000 --> 00:48:28.000
Can the Spirit of God rush upon me one more time so that I can tear down this building

00:48:28.000 --> 00:48:31.000
and take with me more than I've taken when I lived?

00:48:36.000 --> 00:48:39.000
That's what the supernatural empowering power of the Spirit can do.

00:48:39.000 --> 00:48:45.000
Question is, will I go over those six things that we spoke about so that I can tap into it,

00:48:45.000 --> 00:48:51.000
not on an occasional basis, but on a regular basis? Is this how I live?

00:48:53.000 --> 00:48:57.000
When this becomes a habit, it's upon you 24-7.

00:49:01.000 --> 00:49:03.000
What a cool way to live, eh?

00:49:15.000 --> 00:49:20.000
I don't know too much about this, so I won't create a theology around it,

00:49:20.000 --> 00:49:25.000
but in Luke 8 verse 46, Jesus makes a strange statement.

00:49:25.000 --> 00:49:29.000
He says, I perceived power leaving me.

00:49:30.000 --> 00:49:32.000
What in the world was happening then?

00:49:35.000 --> 00:49:40.000
Isn't he the one in whom all power dwells? Was he speaking as fully man?

00:49:41.000 --> 00:49:43.000
How do you get that power back?

00:49:43.000 --> 00:49:48.000
But he said, someone touched me because I perceived power leaving me.

00:49:51.000 --> 00:49:53.000
We won't touch that today.

00:49:53.000 --> 00:49:56.000
You want to be sure before you touch stuff, right?

00:49:58.000 --> 00:50:00.000
Okay, let's go to the last one.

00:50:00.000 --> 00:50:03.000
Take about 10 minutes for that and then stop.

00:50:03.000 --> 00:50:04.000
Glory.

00:50:04.000 --> 00:50:12.000
Guys, faith and anointing have limits

00:50:13.000 --> 00:50:20.000
because to an extent, it's dependent upon man.

00:50:24.000 --> 00:50:29.000
It depends upon me, man, you.

00:50:30.000 --> 00:50:35.000
Both this and the ability to handle this sometimes depends upon man.

00:50:35.000 --> 00:50:40.000
When it comes to this idea of glory and we'll define it, there are no limitations.

00:50:42.000 --> 00:50:44.000
There are no limitations.

00:50:45.000 --> 00:50:48.000
So if the anointing, just to give you a kind of example,

00:50:48.000 --> 00:50:56.000
the anointing is like taking water in a glass.

00:50:58.000 --> 00:51:07.000
Glory is like an ocean poured down from heaven into that glass.

00:51:08.000 --> 00:51:14.000
And so you might have an anointing to heal the sick,

00:51:14.000 --> 00:51:18.000
but when the glory of God descends, then sickness is banned.

00:51:19.000 --> 00:51:22.000
Did that happen? Psalm 105.

00:51:22.000 --> 00:51:26.000
God led a people through the desert, a million of them.

00:51:26.000 --> 00:51:29.000
God led a people through the desert, a million of them.

00:51:29.000 --> 00:51:32.000
God led a people through the desert, a million of them.

00:51:32.000 --> 00:51:37.000
Psalm 105, God led a people through the desert, a million of them,

00:51:37.000 --> 00:51:39.000
a million people through the desert.

00:51:39.000 --> 00:51:42.000
And the Bible says not one of them was feeble or sick.

00:51:42.000 --> 00:51:44.000
How's that even possible, man?

00:51:44.000 --> 00:51:47.000
A million people, young and old, walking through a desert

00:51:47.000 --> 00:51:51.000
and not one of them is feeble, not one of them is sick.

00:51:51.000 --> 00:51:53.000
How does that even work?

00:51:55.000 --> 00:52:00.000
Because they had in their midst something called the Shekinah cloud,

00:52:00.000 --> 00:52:04.000
the cloud of fire by night and the cloud of, the pillar of cloud by day

00:52:04.000 --> 00:52:06.000
and a pillar of fire by night.

00:52:06.000 --> 00:52:08.000
The Shekinah or the glory of God,

00:52:08.000 --> 00:52:12.000
dwelt in the midst of the camp and not one of them was feeble.

00:52:14.000 --> 00:52:17.000
Faith requires me to have it.

00:52:17.000 --> 00:52:21.000
Anointing, there's a capacity that one needs to function in it.

00:52:21.000 --> 00:52:23.000
We have those six things that can increase it.

00:52:23.000 --> 00:52:28.000
But when it comes to glory, it's the splendor, the weight, the magnificence,

00:52:28.000 --> 00:52:34.000
the power, the laughter, the presence, the excellence, the goodness of God

00:52:34.000 --> 00:52:38.000
in one word called doxa or kabod and that's this word glory.

00:52:38.000 --> 00:52:42.000
And when he decides that I want to disrupt things,

00:52:42.000 --> 00:52:45.000
he, you know, whenever he senses glory, the intent is to disrupt things

00:52:45.000 --> 00:52:47.000
so that he can remake it.

00:52:50.000 --> 00:52:54.000
The glory of God is not sent to a church so they feel a little ticklish and fall over.

00:52:54.000 --> 00:52:56.000
And we look at falling over, but that's not the intent.

00:52:56.000 --> 00:53:01.000
The intent is can I enter this group of people or this life or this city or this nation

00:53:01.000 --> 00:53:04.000
with the splendor, the weight, the magnificence, the goodness,

00:53:04.000 --> 00:53:08.000
the power, the presence, the laughter of who I am.

00:53:08.000 --> 00:53:11.000
The I amness of God begins to move into a people or a place

00:53:11.000 --> 00:53:14.000
and when that happens, he disrupts everything.

00:53:15.000 --> 00:53:18.000
The only ones who survive the disruption of the glory of God

00:53:18.000 --> 00:53:20.000
are those that hold on to their dignity.

00:53:20.000 --> 00:53:21.000
Just hear me again.

00:53:21.000 --> 00:53:24.000
The ones that survive the glory of God,

00:53:25.000 --> 00:53:28.000
the ones that survive the glory of God coming in like a flood

00:53:28.000 --> 00:53:32.000
are ones that hold on to their dignity or hold on to their traditions.

00:53:34.000 --> 00:53:36.000
They will survive it.

00:53:38.000 --> 00:53:42.000
Everyone else gets swept away

00:53:42.000 --> 00:53:45.000
because you can never accommodate the glory of God.

00:53:45.000 --> 00:53:48.000
Everyone else gets swept away

00:53:48.000 --> 00:53:50.000
because you can never accommodate it.

00:53:50.000 --> 00:53:52.000
You can only surrender to it.

00:53:53.000 --> 00:53:56.000
You can never accommodate God's I amness.

00:53:58.000 --> 00:54:00.000
You can only surrender to it.

00:54:00.000 --> 00:54:02.000
As in take me away with this.

00:54:02.000 --> 00:54:04.000
He always disrupts.

00:54:04.000 --> 00:54:06.000
He sends it so that he may be disruptive.

00:54:06.000 --> 00:54:10.000
Why disrupt? Because he hates status quo.

00:54:10.000 --> 00:54:13.000
One of the things you need and I need to understand

00:54:13.000 --> 00:54:16.000
is that God despises status quo.

00:54:16.000 --> 00:54:18.000
I can't say it harsher.

00:54:18.000 --> 00:54:20.000
He despises status quo

00:54:20.000 --> 00:54:24.000
because he is the only one who is supposed to be unchanging, not you.

00:54:28.000 --> 00:54:29.000
Despises status quo.

00:54:29.000 --> 00:54:32.000
Always from faith to faith, always from strength to strength,

00:54:32.000 --> 00:54:34.000
always from glory to glory.

00:54:34.000 --> 00:54:36.000
It's another level that he wants to go to.

00:54:39.000 --> 00:54:40.000
And so he comes to disrupt.

00:54:40.000 --> 00:54:43.000
He comes to disrupt and once he disrupts, he now makes anew.

00:54:43.000 --> 00:54:45.000
He makes anew.

00:54:47.000 --> 00:54:49.000
Why? Because he has one thing in mind always.

00:54:49.000 --> 00:54:51.000
I have come to make all things new.

00:54:51.000 --> 00:54:52.000
I have come to make all things new.

00:54:52.000 --> 00:54:55.000
Therefore in Revelation 21, verse 5, it says later on,

00:54:55.000 --> 00:54:57.000
behold, I heard a voice from the throne saying,

00:54:57.000 --> 00:55:00.000
behold, I have made all things new.

00:55:00.000 --> 00:55:01.000
That is intent, man.

00:55:01.000 --> 00:55:03.000
When he was here on earth and through you.

00:55:03.000 --> 00:55:05.000
The Spirit of God is here on earth for one reason alone,

00:55:05.000 --> 00:55:07.000
to make all things new.

00:55:07.000 --> 00:55:08.000
Where does he begin?

00:55:08.000 --> 00:55:10.000
With the souls and the hearts of men.

00:55:10.000 --> 00:55:11.000
He makes them new.

00:55:11.000 --> 00:55:13.000
And then what is he doing?

00:55:13.000 --> 00:55:15.000
Everything he does is towards one end.

00:55:15.000 --> 00:55:16.000
I am here to make all things new.

00:55:16.000 --> 00:55:17.000
Why?

00:55:17.000 --> 00:55:20.000
Because the day is coming when everything will be new.

00:55:20.000 --> 00:55:22.000
No tears, no fear, no crying.

00:55:22.000 --> 00:55:25.000
Just everything made new like it used to be in Eden.

00:55:25.000 --> 00:55:28.000
But till then, the Spirit of God moves the world.

00:55:28.000 --> 00:55:30.000
He makes everything new.

00:55:30.000 --> 00:55:35.000
And His glory is powerfully hidden in John 18,

00:55:35.000 --> 00:55:37.000
verse 36 or thereabouts.

00:55:37.000 --> 00:55:41.000
It is a scripture that I don't know why we never see it.

00:55:41.000 --> 00:55:45.000
Perhaps because we don't know the language.

00:55:45.000 --> 00:55:47.000
But in John 18, here is what happens.

00:55:47.000 --> 00:55:49.000
Jesus is in Eden.

00:55:49.000 --> 00:55:50.000
He is in Eden.

00:55:50.000 --> 00:55:51.000
He is in Eden.

00:55:51.000 --> 00:55:52.000
He is in Eden.

00:55:52.000 --> 00:55:53.000
He is in Eden.

00:55:53.000 --> 00:55:54.000
He is in Eden.

00:55:54.000 --> 00:55:55.000
He is in Eden.

00:55:55.000 --> 00:55:56.000
He is in Eden.

00:55:56.000 --> 00:55:57.000
He is in Eden.

00:55:57.000 --> 00:55:58.000
He is in Eden.

00:55:58.000 --> 00:56:00.000
In John 18, here is what happens.

00:56:00.000 --> 00:56:02.000
Jesus is in Gethsemane.

00:56:02.000 --> 00:56:04.000
People come to arrest Him.

00:56:04.000 --> 00:56:06.000
Do you know how many people came to arrest Him?

00:56:06.000 --> 00:56:09.000
The Greek word used there is a Greek word called Spira.

00:56:09.000 --> 00:56:11.000
Spira means a cohort.

00:56:11.000 --> 00:56:15.000
There were 600 Roman soldiers there to arrest Him.

00:56:15.000 --> 00:56:19.000
Leave alone with the Levites and the Pharisees and the priests.

00:56:19.000 --> 00:56:24.000
There were about 700 people who came to arrest Him in the Garden of Gethsemane.

00:56:24.000 --> 00:56:26.000
And they come and ask Him,

00:56:26.000 --> 00:56:27.000
I am Jesus.

00:56:27.000 --> 00:56:30.000
And He says, these are the words He says,

00:56:30.000 --> 00:56:31.000
I am.

00:56:31.000 --> 00:56:35.000
When He says those words, 700 people fall backward.

00:56:38.000 --> 00:56:41.000
You think feeding 5,000 was a big deal?

00:56:41.000 --> 00:56:45.000
You think catching a net full of 153 fish was a big deal?

00:56:45.000 --> 00:56:52.000
The only event that matches John 18 is when He drove 2,000 demons into a herd of pigs.

00:56:52.000 --> 00:56:55.000
This is the kind of man He is when He walked the earth.

00:56:55.000 --> 00:56:57.000
What do you think He is now?

00:56:58.000 --> 00:57:01.000
May we develop a taste for His glory.

00:57:01.000 --> 00:57:04.000
A desire to see this God.

00:57:05.000 --> 00:57:07.000
This kind of God.

00:57:10.000 --> 00:57:12.000
And they all fall backward.

00:57:12.000 --> 00:57:15.000
All enemies all fall backward.

00:57:15.000 --> 00:57:17.000
And what did He say?

00:57:17.000 --> 00:57:19.000
I am.

00:57:19.000 --> 00:57:21.000
Those are the words He uses.

00:57:21.000 --> 00:57:23.000
And then almost to verify, the next word says,

00:57:23.000 --> 00:57:25.000
And Jesus again said to them, I am He.

00:57:25.000 --> 00:57:27.000
And they all fell backward.

00:57:27.000 --> 00:57:29.000
You can imagine that sight, eh?

00:57:29.000 --> 00:57:30.000
Why am I picking on that?

00:57:30.000 --> 00:57:37.000
Sometimes we as humans need physical images to know this massive God,

00:57:37.000 --> 00:57:39.000
because we don't understand His massiveness.

00:57:39.000 --> 00:57:42.000
Because we've miniaturized Him and put Him in our hearts, right?

00:57:54.000 --> 00:57:57.000
Faith places a demand.

00:57:57.000 --> 00:58:02.000
We said that faith places a demand on the anointing.

00:58:07.000 --> 00:58:20.000
And the anointing opens the floodgates of glory.

00:58:20.000 --> 00:58:25.000
One of the classic examples where this happens is in 2 Chronicles 7, 1-3,

00:58:25.000 --> 00:58:29.000
where Solomon had faith.

00:58:31.000 --> 00:58:38.000
The musicians and the prophets had the anointing.

00:58:40.000 --> 00:58:46.000
And when those things combine, the glory of the Lord fills the temple.

00:58:47.000 --> 00:58:52.000
And neither Solomon nor the musicians could stand.

00:58:58.000 --> 00:59:01.000
And when the glory of God fills the temple, a strange thing happens, guys.

00:59:01.000 --> 00:59:03.000
You know, here's the thing, guys.

00:59:03.000 --> 00:59:05.000
Don't long for this for yourself.

00:59:05.000 --> 00:59:08.000
We're not here to get tickled by God.

00:59:09.000 --> 00:59:13.000
We long for this because when this happened, Solomon had the faith.

00:59:13.000 --> 00:59:18.000
He knew that as he built the temple, he knew that if he cried out to God,

00:59:18.000 --> 00:59:20.000
because he had prayed this before,

00:59:20.000 --> 00:59:22.000
Oh God, I'm building this temple.

00:59:22.000 --> 00:59:25.000
When I come into this temple and I turn my face to you and I cry out,

00:59:25.000 --> 00:59:30.000
Be drought, be famine, be locusts, when I cry out, Oh God, you will hear and you will do.

00:59:30.000 --> 00:59:32.000
And so he begins to build the temple.

00:59:32.000 --> 00:59:33.000
Now he's finished the temple.

00:59:33.000 --> 00:59:37.000
He begins to offer sacrifices like have never been offered before.

00:59:37.000 --> 00:59:40.000
There was blood running all over the place because of the sacrifices.

00:59:40.000 --> 00:59:43.000
He had the faith to do what he knew he had to do.

00:59:43.000 --> 00:59:48.000
And then the 2000 musicians begin to sing,

00:59:48.000 --> 00:59:53.000
because David had ordained a worship ministry that was just crazy.

00:59:53.000 --> 00:59:57.000
2000 musicians begin to sing and begin to prophesy.

00:59:57.000 --> 00:59:59.000
You can imagine that scene in the temple right now.

00:59:59.000 --> 01:00:04.000
Just the kind of worship that you and I perhaps have occasionally had,

01:00:04.000 --> 01:00:08.000
but 2000 people at the top of their voices prophesying and singing.

01:00:08.000 --> 01:00:13.000
And when that happens, the glory of God moves into the temple

01:00:13.000 --> 01:00:17.000
and neither the priest nor the musicians nor Solomon can stand.

01:00:17.000 --> 01:00:21.000
But there are people watching from outside and here's what the people start saying.

01:00:21.000 --> 01:00:23.000
And this is why I'm saying we should aim for this.

01:00:23.000 --> 01:00:28.000
The people started saying, we declare that God is good

01:00:28.000 --> 01:00:32.000
and his steadfast love endures forever and they began thanking God.

01:00:32.000 --> 01:00:34.000
That's what we are aiming for.

01:00:34.000 --> 01:00:36.000
We're not aiming for glory or glory.

01:00:36.000 --> 01:00:37.000
That's what we are aiming for.

01:00:37.000 --> 01:00:40.000
We're not aiming for glory so that the church may feel ticklish

01:00:40.000 --> 01:00:43.000
or a few people may fall over or Tuni may sing better.

01:00:43.000 --> 01:00:45.000
Those things are useless.

01:00:45.000 --> 01:00:47.000
What we want is people who watch to say,

01:00:47.000 --> 01:00:50.000
oh my God, this God of theirs, this Yahweh of theirs,

01:00:50.000 --> 01:00:54.000
praise the Lord for he is good, for his steadfast love endures forever.

01:00:54.000 --> 01:00:57.000
His goodness is what people will begin to see when the glory of God descends.

01:00:57.000 --> 01:01:01.000
The greatest tool of evangelism on earth is the glory of God.

01:01:01.000 --> 01:01:05.000
The greatest weapon that has been formed on the earth is the glory of God.

01:01:05.000 --> 01:01:06.000
Both.

01:01:10.000 --> 01:01:11.000
Both.

01:01:12.000 --> 01:01:13.000
Desire it.

01:01:14.000 --> 01:01:19.000
You know, people want stuff without desiring, hungering for it.

01:01:19.000 --> 01:01:22.000
Do you know how terrible it is when you...

01:01:22.000 --> 01:01:26.000
I had a friend who had arrived in Vancouver.

01:01:26.000 --> 01:01:28.000
I was taking him to someone's home.

01:01:28.000 --> 01:01:30.000
They had prepared lunch.

01:01:31.000 --> 01:01:34.000
I told them, there's lunch waiting for you.

01:01:34.000 --> 01:01:36.000
These people have worked really hard.

01:01:36.000 --> 01:01:38.000
They knew your parents.

01:01:38.000 --> 01:01:39.000
They want to honor you.

01:01:39.000 --> 01:01:41.000
It's your first time in Vancouver.

01:01:41.000 --> 01:01:43.000
There's lunch waiting.

01:01:43.000 --> 01:01:45.000
He heard it.

01:01:45.000 --> 01:01:47.000
I should have known then itself that...

01:01:47.000 --> 01:01:49.000
Forget that.

01:01:49.000 --> 01:01:50.000
He knew it.

01:01:50.000 --> 01:01:54.000
And yet, he says, I don't know what they may have cooked.

01:01:54.000 --> 01:01:56.000
I just want to have some good steak.

01:01:56.000 --> 01:02:00.000
So he goes, eats a full steak,

01:02:00.000 --> 01:02:05.000
knowing that there are people that have slogged throughout the day to prepare him lunch.

01:02:05.000 --> 01:02:06.000
And he turned.

01:02:06.000 --> 01:02:08.000
I drive him to their home.

01:02:08.000 --> 01:02:09.000
They want to honor him.

01:02:09.000 --> 01:02:11.000
They worked really hard.

01:02:11.000 --> 01:02:14.000
And he's sitting there saying, no, no, I've got a steak.

01:02:14.000 --> 01:02:15.000
I've had a steak.

01:02:15.000 --> 01:02:17.000
I'm not interested in your food.

01:02:19.000 --> 01:02:21.000
Why tell you this story?

01:02:21.000 --> 01:02:27.000
Because at the end of the day, no hunger, no glory.

01:02:27.000 --> 01:02:29.000
One must desire it.

01:02:29.000 --> 01:02:32.000
A desire must be followed by hunger.

01:02:32.000 --> 01:02:36.000
The strange thing with God is whatever you hunger after, he will feed you.

01:02:36.000 --> 01:02:41.000
But it will not last long because you will feel even more hungry.

01:02:41.000 --> 01:02:45.000
There's never going to come a day where you can say, oh, gosh, tasted Jesus.

01:02:45.000 --> 01:02:46.000
What's great.

01:02:46.000 --> 01:02:47.000
Thank you, Lord.

01:02:47.000 --> 01:02:48.000
Don't need you for another four years.

01:02:48.000 --> 01:02:51.000
Now, four days later, you'll want it more.

01:02:51.000 --> 01:02:53.000
It's like being in love with somebody.

01:02:53.000 --> 01:02:54.000
You see them every morning.

01:02:54.000 --> 01:02:55.000
Their breath stinks.

01:02:55.000 --> 01:02:57.000
And yet, the next day, you still want them there.

01:02:57.000 --> 01:02:58.000
Because why?

01:02:58.000 --> 01:03:00.000
Because you're in love with them.

01:03:00.000 --> 01:03:02.000
I know how you feel, Kazia.

01:03:05.000 --> 01:03:06.000
Dawn's not smiling.

01:03:06.000 --> 01:03:07.000
She is.

01:03:07.000 --> 01:03:08.000
Yeah.

01:03:08.000 --> 01:03:10.000
So I figured, yeah.

01:03:14.000 --> 01:03:15.000
Hunger for it, guys.

01:03:16.000 --> 01:03:21.000
These are some lines that we can't even explore today, but take them home and think about

01:03:21.000 --> 01:03:28.000
them and see if you can just wrestle with them.

01:03:28.000 --> 01:03:29.000
Yeah.

01:03:29.000 --> 01:03:33.000
I'll just write down a few lines and then we'll do the rest next week.

01:03:33.000 --> 01:03:34.000
Barb and Chris, you're up next.

01:03:34.000 --> 01:03:35.000
Thank you.

01:03:35.000 --> 01:03:36.000
Thank you.

01:03:36.000 --> 01:03:37.000
Thank you.

01:03:37.000 --> 01:03:38.000
Thank you.

01:03:38.000 --> 01:03:39.000
Thank you.

01:03:39.000 --> 01:03:40.000
Thank you.

01:03:40.000 --> 01:03:41.000
Thank you.

01:03:41.000 --> 01:03:42.000
Thank you.

01:03:42.000 --> 01:03:43.000
Thank you.

01:03:43.000 --> 01:03:44.000
Thank you.

01:03:44.000 --> 01:03:48.000
Barb and Chris, you're welcome to come back again to the BNB next week.

01:03:48.000 --> 01:03:49.000
Yeah.

01:03:52.000 --> 01:03:59.000
Faith brings life to God's principle.

01:04:04.000 --> 01:04:07.000
Anointing brings life.

01:04:07.000 --> 01:04:14.000
When you're driving to work this week, take one of these lines and start playing with

01:04:14.000 --> 01:04:15.000
it.

01:04:15.000 --> 01:04:17.000
Try to ask God to bring scriptures to mind.

01:04:17.000 --> 01:04:18.000
How does it work?

01:04:18.000 --> 01:04:21.000
Anointing brings life to God's power.

01:04:21.000 --> 01:04:25.000
Sorry, brings to life God's power.

01:04:25.000 --> 01:04:28.000
Faith brings to life God's principle.

01:04:28.000 --> 01:04:33.000
Anointing brings to life God's power.

01:04:34.000 --> 01:04:48.000
Glory brings to life God's unlimited presence.

01:04:51.000 --> 01:04:52.000
That's one statement.

01:04:52.000 --> 01:04:53.000
Play with that.

01:04:53.000 --> 01:05:00.000
The name that Derek and Iris have given the church is Bethkabod.

01:05:00.000 --> 01:05:04.000
Bethkabod in Hebrew means house of glory.

01:05:04.000 --> 01:05:05.000
House of glory.

01:05:05.000 --> 01:05:10.000
This is what they must desire and run and share with people.

01:05:16.000 --> 01:05:19.000
Here's another critical line.

01:05:19.000 --> 01:05:33.000
Anointing is critical for the role I function in.

01:05:36.000 --> 01:05:45.000
Hey, just imagine if the Lord's hand was not present on me to teach or to speak or to prophesy,

01:05:45.000 --> 01:05:53.000
if the Lord's hand was not upon me, I'd have to really slog and give you academic stuff

01:05:53.000 --> 01:05:57.000
and tell you the meaning of Greek words.

01:05:57.000 --> 01:06:01.000
I'd be pretty sad, man.

01:06:06.000 --> 01:06:08.000
And the same applies to you.

01:06:09.000 --> 01:06:16.000
So on one hand, anointing is critical for the role I'm functioning, but listen to this line.

01:06:16.000 --> 01:06:29.000
Glory is critical for the move of God through me.

01:06:29.000 --> 01:06:36.000
One's a function, one's a move, and they're different.

01:06:36.000 --> 01:06:44.000
So, ponder on these.

01:06:44.000 --> 01:06:50.000
Let me leave you with a few questions that we'll deal with next time.

01:06:50.000 --> 01:06:57.000
Can you turn to Exodus 33, 18?

01:06:57.000 --> 01:07:00.000
We'll just read those scriptures and then I'll leave you with questions.

01:07:00.000 --> 01:07:03.000
Exodus 33 and we'll deal with it next week.

01:07:03.000 --> 01:07:05.000
Exodus 33.

01:07:07.000 --> 01:07:10.000
Exodus 33, 18.

01:07:10.000 --> 01:07:16.000
There's something, I mean, why did the people in Solomon's temple respond saying,

01:07:16.000 --> 01:07:19.000
praise the Lord for he is good?

01:07:19.000 --> 01:07:24.000
Because every time God's glory is revealed, there's something about his goodness that

01:07:24.000 --> 01:07:31.000
we don't even grasp because the word good is used so easily nowadays,

01:07:31.000 --> 01:07:34.000
but there's something about his goodness that happens.

01:07:34.000 --> 01:07:37.000
So Exodus 33, verse 18.

01:08:01.000 --> 01:08:03.000
So that's Moses' request.

01:08:03.000 --> 01:08:05.000
God says, yeah, I'll show you my goodness.

01:08:05.000 --> 01:08:13.000
Now go to chapter 34, verse 1 to 6.

01:08:33.000 --> 01:08:48.000
So this is what happened after what Moses asked, starting from verse 5.

01:09:03.000 --> 01:09:28.000
So here are my questions.

01:09:28.000 --> 01:09:34.000
Try and see if you can come up with answers for next week.

01:09:34.000 --> 01:09:51.000
How did God make all his glory and his goodness pass before Moses?

01:09:51.000 --> 01:09:57.000
What was it that he showed Moses?

01:09:57.000 --> 01:09:58.000
How come Moses understood?

01:09:58.000 --> 01:10:00.000
What did Moses see?

01:10:00.000 --> 01:10:02.000
What was it?

01:10:02.000 --> 01:10:05.000
He hides him in the cleft of the rock saying, you can't see my face,

01:10:05.000 --> 01:10:07.000
but God does not have form.

01:10:07.000 --> 01:10:08.000
So what are we talking about?

01:10:08.000 --> 01:10:10.000
What did he see?

01:10:10.000 --> 01:10:14.000
But it convinced Moses forever, changed the man.

01:10:14.000 --> 01:10:18.000
So that's the first question.

01:10:18.000 --> 01:10:21.000
What did Ezekiel see?

01:10:21.000 --> 01:10:23.000
Because Ezekiel had the same thing.

01:10:23.000 --> 01:10:27.000
In Ezekiel 10, verse 4, talks about the same thing.

01:10:27.000 --> 01:10:34.000
What did Ezekiel see in Ezekiel 10, 4?

01:10:34.000 --> 01:10:54.000
What did Ezekiel see in Ezekiel 10, 4?

01:10:54.000 --> 01:10:56.000
In Ezekiel 10, 4.

01:10:56.000 --> 01:11:02.000
What did Isaiah see?

01:11:02.000 --> 01:11:08.000
Isaiah 6, 5.

01:11:08.000 --> 01:11:11.000
What happened at the wedding in Cana?

01:11:11.000 --> 01:11:13.000
What happened at the wedding in Cana?

01:11:13.000 --> 01:11:17.000
And it says, Jesus revealed his glory for the first time when he changed water into wine.

01:11:17.000 --> 01:11:18.000
What happened?

01:11:18.000 --> 01:11:25.000
What happened at the wedding in Cana?

01:11:25.000 --> 01:11:26.000
What blew the guys away?

01:11:26.000 --> 01:11:29.000
Was it just a miracle or was there more?

01:11:29.000 --> 01:11:40.000
In John 2, verse 11, what did Peter witness on the mountain?

01:11:40.000 --> 01:11:45.000
Where in 2 Peter, verse 1, 16-18, he begins to say,

01:11:45.000 --> 01:11:49.000
we heard the voice from majesty, we saw his glory,

01:11:49.000 --> 01:11:51.000
we're not creating fables, we actually saw it.

01:11:51.000 --> 01:11:54.000
What did they see?

01:11:54.000 --> 01:11:57.000
What did James and John and Peter,

01:11:57.000 --> 01:12:05.000
what did Peter, James and John see on the mountain when Jesus' clothes were transformed?

01:12:05.000 --> 01:12:06.000
What did they see?

01:12:06.000 --> 01:12:08.000
Was it just a physical sight or was there more?

01:12:08.000 --> 01:12:11.000
What happened in Ephesus?

01:12:11.000 --> 01:12:17.000
What happened in Ephesus where fear fell upon the entire city?

01:12:17.000 --> 01:12:23.000
After Paul began to cast out demons,

01:12:23.000 --> 01:12:29.000
what happened in Ephesus in Acts 19-7?

01:12:29.000 --> 01:12:38.000
How come we aren't seeing it?

01:12:38.000 --> 01:12:48.000
What should we be looking for?

01:12:48.000 --> 01:12:53.000
What should we be doing?

01:12:53.000 --> 01:12:54.000
Last question.

01:12:54.000 --> 01:12:59.000
How do we open the door?

01:12:59.000 --> 01:13:18.000
Open the gates so that the King of glory may come in.

01:13:18.000 --> 01:13:22.000
How did God make all his glory and his goodness pass before Moses?

01:13:22.000 --> 01:13:23.000
What did Moses see?

01:13:23.000 --> 01:13:25.000
What changed him?

01:13:25.000 --> 01:13:29.000
What did Ezekiel 10 verse 4 where he says,

01:13:29.000 --> 01:13:37.000
I saw the glory of God in the cherub lift and it moved and it filled the temple with a cloud

01:13:37.000 --> 01:13:42.000
and it filled the courts with his brightness.

01:13:42.000 --> 01:13:44.000
What did Isaiah see in Isaiah 6-5 where he says,

01:13:44.000 --> 01:13:48.000
War undone for I have seen the glory of the King.

01:13:48.000 --> 01:13:50.000
What happened at the wedding in Canaan where it says,

01:13:50.000 --> 01:13:53.000
and Jesus did his first miracle and revealed his glory

01:13:53.000 --> 01:13:56.000
and the disciples saw it and they believed.

01:13:56.000 --> 01:13:58.000
What happened in 2 Peter 1-16-18?

01:13:58.000 --> 01:14:00.000
We're not creating fables.

01:14:00.000 --> 01:14:02.000
We saw his glory.

01:14:02.000 --> 01:14:04.000
We heard a voice from majesty saying,

01:14:04.000 --> 01:14:07.000
This is my beloved son. Listen to him.

01:14:07.000 --> 01:14:09.000
What happened on the mountain with Peter, James and John

01:14:09.000 --> 01:14:11.000
when Peter blurted out,

01:14:11.000 --> 01:14:18.000
Shall we make tents for you so that Elijah, Moses and Jesus can live in a tent?

01:14:18.000 --> 01:14:22.000
Because they saw his form change.

01:14:22.000 --> 01:14:24.000
What happened in Ephesus?

01:14:24.000 --> 01:14:26.000
The seven sons of Sceva got beaten up.

01:14:26.000 --> 01:14:28.000
Ephesus is a magic town.

01:14:28.000 --> 01:14:32.000
It began to burn its papyri and its magic incantations

01:14:32.000 --> 01:14:35.000
and fear fell upon this whole city.

01:14:35.000 --> 01:14:42.000
They began to treat Christians with a certain degree of reverence.

01:14:42.000 --> 01:14:44.000
How come we aren't seeing it?

01:14:44.000 --> 01:14:47.000
What should we do?

01:14:47.000 --> 01:14:50.000
How do we open the gates so that the King of glory may come in?

01:14:50.000 --> 01:14:52.000
Any questions we'll answer next week.

01:14:52.000 --> 01:14:54.000
It'll be good if you think about it too.

01:14:54.000 --> 01:14:56.000
Any questions?

01:15:02.000 --> 01:15:04.000
No?

01:15:06.000 --> 01:15:08.000
Go ahead.

01:15:10.000 --> 01:15:14.000
How do you hunger after...

01:15:20.000 --> 01:15:24.000
If I don't taste it, I don't know what to go after.

01:15:26.000 --> 01:15:28.000
I have to taste it first.

01:15:28.000 --> 01:15:32.000
Here's the thing, in John 17 verse 24 or thereabouts,

01:15:32.000 --> 01:15:37.000
Jesus says, I desire to reveal the fullness of my glory to you.

01:15:37.000 --> 01:15:40.000
It says desire to reveal the fullness of my glory to you.

01:15:40.000 --> 01:15:42.000
I don't know what to go after.

01:15:42.000 --> 01:15:44.000
I don't know what to go after.

01:15:44.000 --> 01:15:46.000
I don't know what to go after.

01:15:46.000 --> 01:15:50.000
I desire to reveal the fullness of my glory to you.

01:15:50.000 --> 01:15:52.000
It's his desire.

01:15:52.000 --> 01:15:55.000
It's your father's desire to show you his splendor.

01:15:55.000 --> 01:15:58.000
As I got older, my dad would take me to places

01:15:58.000 --> 01:16:02.000
so that he could show me more about his life.

01:16:02.000 --> 01:16:05.000
He would share details of his bank account.

01:16:05.000 --> 01:16:08.000
Bad idea with a kid.

01:16:08.000 --> 01:16:10.000
But he would begin to show things.

01:16:10.000 --> 01:16:15.000
Every father wants to reveal his splendor to his son

01:16:15.000 --> 01:16:19.000
so that his son carries his attributes and will convey it forward.

01:16:19.000 --> 01:16:20.000
So that's one.

01:16:20.000 --> 01:16:23.000
Second, we know from Moses' example

01:16:23.000 --> 01:16:28.000
that God is willing to show his glory.

01:16:28.000 --> 01:16:30.000
And so when Moses says, show me your glory,

01:16:30.000 --> 01:16:33.000
God says, yeah, I'll show you my goodness.

01:16:33.000 --> 01:16:36.000
He's not reluctant.

01:16:36.000 --> 01:16:41.000
So I would say the best way to hunger after him is to first locate him

01:16:41.000 --> 01:16:44.000
and then begin to ask, saying, Father, show me.

01:16:44.000 --> 01:16:46.000
Help me to know what this looks like.

01:16:46.000 --> 01:16:48.000
And as you begin to ask that question,

01:16:48.000 --> 01:16:51.000
God begins to change you so you can handle it.

01:16:51.000 --> 01:16:55.000
Guys, there are three examples of mishandling glory.

01:16:55.000 --> 01:16:59.000
The first one was at a place called Beth Shemesh.

01:16:59.000 --> 01:17:01.000
The ark was left in Beth Shemesh,

01:17:01.000 --> 01:17:03.000
and they went and they opened the lid of the ark,

01:17:03.000 --> 01:17:05.000
which they knew was a complete no-no.

01:17:05.000 --> 01:17:08.000
It's so sacred because it was the very presence of God.

01:17:08.000 --> 01:17:12.000
And they go lift the ark and they open it and they die.

01:17:12.000 --> 01:17:16.000
The next time around, they mishandled glory in terms of protocol

01:17:16.000 --> 01:17:21.000
because there's a way that this holy one is supposed to be approached.

01:17:21.000 --> 01:17:25.000
And they brought the ark in on a cart

01:17:25.000 --> 01:17:28.000
instead of carrying it on the shoulders of the Levites.

01:17:28.000 --> 01:17:30.000
And Ehiyo and Uzzah died.

01:17:30.000 --> 01:17:34.000
And finally it dawns to David that there's a way to bring it.

01:17:34.000 --> 01:17:38.000
So he says from now on, only the Levites will carry it on their shoulders.

01:17:38.000 --> 01:17:41.000
He prepares the ark on the shoulders and they bring it in.

01:17:41.000 --> 01:17:43.000
The moment you start desiring for glory,

01:17:43.000 --> 01:17:45.000
one of the first things God will do is,

01:17:45.000 --> 01:17:47.000
hey Jacob, can I change a few things in you?

01:17:47.000 --> 01:17:52.000
Because if you want to handle this, you need to be a certain this.

01:17:55.000 --> 01:17:57.000
I'm not looking for an experience.

01:17:57.000 --> 01:18:00.000
I'm looking for the I am-ness of God.

01:18:00.000 --> 01:18:03.000
And the first reaction to the I am-ness of God

01:18:03.000 --> 01:18:06.000
is always to hit the floor and lie on the ground

01:18:06.000 --> 01:18:09.000
and say, go away from me, Lord, for I'm a sinner.

01:18:09.000 --> 01:18:11.000
That's the first reaction.

01:18:11.000 --> 01:18:14.000
After that you'll hear the magic words, fear not.

01:18:16.000 --> 01:18:17.000
And then begins the journey.

01:18:17.000 --> 01:18:20.000
And once you taste it, oh my God.

01:18:21.000 --> 01:18:23.000
Guys, just think of this. These are all real things.

01:18:23.000 --> 01:18:26.000
Do you know what it is to hear the sound of heaven?

01:18:26.000 --> 01:18:28.000
It's not a real noise.

01:18:29.000 --> 01:18:32.000
When the Holy Spirit came in Acts chapter 2, there was no wind.

01:18:35.000 --> 01:18:36.000
Things were not blowing away.

01:18:36.000 --> 01:18:38.000
Candles didn't go out.

01:18:38.000 --> 01:18:41.000
They heard the sound of heaven like a mighty rushing wind.

01:18:43.000 --> 01:18:45.000
What does it mean to hear that sound?

01:18:45.000 --> 01:18:48.000
You think it was only meant for chapter 2 in the book of Acts?

01:18:48.000 --> 01:18:50.000
Surely not.

01:18:53.000 --> 01:18:56.000
What does it mean to know that a move of God

01:18:56.000 --> 01:18:59.000
that has been promised for years is suddenly born?

01:18:59.000 --> 01:19:01.000
And now you don't need to now cry out for it

01:19:01.000 --> 01:19:03.000
because you know it has arrived.

01:19:03.000 --> 01:19:05.000
And you now try to figure out ways.

01:19:05.000 --> 01:19:07.000
How do I walk in what has arrived?

01:19:08.000 --> 01:19:23.000
I want us to taste hunger, have our tongues hanging out, panting for this man.

01:19:27.000 --> 01:19:28.000
And when we do, he rewards.

01:19:28.000 --> 01:19:30.000
Hunger is always rewarded.

01:19:30.000 --> 01:19:31.000
So let me end with this.

01:19:31.000 --> 01:19:36.000
Blessed are those that hunger and thirst,

01:19:36.000 --> 01:19:40.000
for they shall be satisfied only to wake up tomorrow

01:19:40.000 --> 01:19:42.000
and find that you're still hungry.

01:19:42.000 --> 01:19:45.000
And they shall be satisfied only to wake up day after tomorrow

01:19:45.000 --> 01:19:47.000
and find that you're still hungry.

01:19:47.000 --> 01:19:49.000
And they shall be, tell me when to stop.

01:19:52.000 --> 01:19:53.000
Alrighty.

01:19:53.000 --> 01:19:57.000
Tuni, I want us to end with

01:19:59.000 --> 01:20:02.000
From the mountains, no, what's the other song?

01:20:02.000 --> 01:20:05.000
Open up the gates,

01:20:05.000 --> 01:20:08.000
let the music play,

01:20:09.000 --> 01:20:14.000
let the streets resound with singing.

01:20:14.000 --> 01:20:16.000
What are we singing when we sing this?

01:20:16.000 --> 01:20:18.000
We're saying, oh God, let Jubilee happen.

01:20:18.000 --> 01:20:19.000
Let things be made new.

01:20:19.000 --> 01:20:21.000
Let the anointing come.

01:20:21.000 --> 01:20:22.000
We'll praise the demand.

01:20:22.000 --> 01:20:26.000
And, oh God, may we see your glory, not for our benefit,

01:20:26.000 --> 01:20:29.000
so that when we go out, people will see your goodness through us.

01:20:29.000 --> 01:20:31.000
Not as individuals alone, but as a people.

01:20:31.000 --> 01:20:34.000
Hey, we got one month before we moved to Richmond,

01:20:34.000 --> 01:20:36.000
we moved to Richmond, didn't we?

01:20:39.000 --> 01:20:41.000
Ask God these questions during the week.

01:20:41.000 --> 01:20:43.000
Father, what's the sound I'm hearing?

01:20:43.000 --> 01:20:44.000
How come I'm not hearing anything?

01:20:44.000 --> 01:20:46.000
When I hear it, what is this sound?

01:20:46.000 --> 01:20:48.000
What do you mean sound? I hear nothing.

01:20:48.000 --> 01:20:50.000
No, it's God saying, hey, this is what I'm going to do.

01:20:50.000 --> 01:20:51.000
This is the move I'm bringing.

01:20:51.000 --> 01:20:53.000
This is what I'll do with the young people.

01:20:53.000 --> 01:20:55.000
This is what I'm repeating again.

01:20:55.000 --> 01:20:56.000
It's that kind of stuff.

01:20:56.000 --> 01:20:57.000
Ask.

01:20:57.000 --> 01:20:59.000
Make mistakes.

01:20:59.000 --> 01:21:01.000
You can't learn this without mistakes.

01:21:04.000 --> 01:21:05.000
I'm not going to do it.

01:21:05.000 --> 01:21:06.000
I'm going to do it.

01:21:06.000 --> 01:21:07.000
I'm going to do it.

01:21:07.000 --> 01:21:08.000
I'm going to do it.

01:21:08.000 --> 01:21:09.000
I'm going to do it.

01:21:09.000 --> 01:21:10.000
I'm going to do it.

01:21:10.000 --> 01:21:11.000
I'm going to do it.

01:21:11.000 --> 01:21:12.000
I'm going to do it.

01:21:12.000 --> 01:21:13.000
I'm going to do it.

01:21:13.000 --> 01:21:14.000
I'm going to do it.

01:21:14.000 --> 01:21:15.000
I'm going to do it.

01:21:15.000 --> 01:21:16.000
I'm going to do it.

01:21:16.000 --> 01:21:17.000
I'm going to do it.

01:21:17.000 --> 01:21:18.000
I'm going to do it.

01:21:18.000 --> 01:21:19.000
I'm going to do it.

01:21:19.000 --> 01:21:20.000
I'm going to do it.

01:21:20.000 --> 01:21:21.000
I'm going to do it.

01:21:21.000 --> 01:21:22.000
I'm going to do it.

01:21:22.000 --> 01:21:23.000
I'm going to do it.

01:21:23.000 --> 01:21:24.000
I'm going to do it.

01:21:24.000 --> 01:21:25.000
I'm going to do it.

01:21:25.000 --> 01:21:26.000
I'm going to do it.

01:21:26.000 --> 01:21:27.000
I'm going to do it.

01:21:27.000 --> 01:21:28.000
I'm going to do it.
