WEBVTT NOTE Podcast: Acts 29 Vancouver Episode: Enemy at the Gate Publishing Date: 2022-02-13T05:00:44-08:00 Podcast URL: https://acts29.ca Episode URL: https://acts29.ca/enemy-at-the-gate/ 00:00:00.000 --> 00:00:04.000 But this time around, if you want a title for this, 00:00:04.000 --> 00:00:07.000 teaching it's Enemy at the Gate, Enemy at the Gate, 00:00:07.000 --> 00:00:10.000 and the reason I titled it that way was because 00:00:10.000 --> 00:00:15.000 there's a common enemy that priests, prophets, and kings face. 00:00:15.000 --> 00:00:25.000 So there's a common enemy of priests, prophets, kings, 00:00:25.000 --> 00:00:30.000 and it's Jezebel. 00:00:30.000 --> 00:00:36.000 Jezebel. 00:00:36.000 --> 00:00:41.000 And Elijah faced Jezebel. 00:00:41.000 --> 00:00:45.000 Jehu faced Jezebel. 00:00:45.000 --> 00:00:51.000 Theatria of the Church in Thyatria faced Jezebel. 00:00:51.000 --> 00:00:54.000 Ahab the King faced Jezebel. 00:00:54.000 --> 00:00:56.000 Priests, prophets, and kings at some point, 00:00:56.000 --> 00:01:00.000 as they begin to come into their own, will face Jezebel. 00:01:00.000 --> 00:01:02.000 And therefore, if priests, prophets, and kings, 00:01:02.000 --> 00:01:06.000 and that is who we are, have a common enemy at the gate, 00:01:06.000 --> 00:01:14.000 at some point it will show itself up in a congregation 00:01:14.000 --> 00:01:19.000 and will try to harm. 00:01:19.000 --> 00:01:25.000 And so today we just want to expose it and undo it. 00:01:25.000 --> 00:01:28.000 So it is a spirit that influences... 00:01:28.000 --> 00:01:31.000 Jacob, how can you call it a spirit when it was a real person in the Old Testament 00:01:31.000 --> 00:01:34.000 and a real person in the New Testament? 00:01:34.000 --> 00:01:42.000 Because Jesus addresses Jezebel in the New Testament as an influence 00:01:42.000 --> 00:01:49.000 and it's coming through a person that is affecting, destroying a congregation. 00:01:49.000 --> 00:01:52.000 Samar... okay, you're fine there, right? 00:01:52.000 --> 00:01:56.000 That is affecting and destroying a congregation. 00:01:56.000 --> 00:02:00.000 The name of the person in the New Testament church was Jezebel. 00:02:00.000 --> 00:02:02.000 Nobody names their daughter Jezebel. 00:02:02.000 --> 00:02:05.000 Like, nobody in Vancouver would name their son Maple Leaf. 00:02:05.000 --> 00:02:07.000 It would be as absurd as that. 00:02:07.000 --> 00:02:10.000 And by the way, they lost yesterday to the Canucks. 00:02:10.000 --> 00:02:13.000 But that's another story. I don't want to bring that up with Evan sitting here. 00:02:13.000 --> 00:02:17.000 But the point is this, that nobody names their daughter Jezebel. 00:02:17.000 --> 00:02:24.000 So in the New Testament, when Jesus is addressing the church and is pointing at Jezebel, 00:02:24.000 --> 00:02:28.000 what he's trying to say is there's an influence like the Jezebel in the Old Testament 00:02:28.000 --> 00:02:32.000 that is at present prevalent in your church and it's destroying you. 00:02:32.000 --> 00:02:37.000 And if you don't take charge, I will both destroy her and I will hold you accountable. 00:02:37.000 --> 00:02:40.000 So it is a spirit. 00:02:40.000 --> 00:02:48.000 And it is one of the few spirits that has this ability to come against priest, prophet, and king 00:02:48.000 --> 00:02:54.000 and undo a kingdom or undo a people, undo a congregation. 00:02:57.000 --> 00:03:03.000 It is a genderless thing, so it works through men and women. 00:03:03.000 --> 00:03:15.000 But we have to account for the fact that it works easily or easier through women, 00:03:15.000 --> 00:03:20.000 though because it's a spirit, it does not, gender doesn't matter. 00:03:20.000 --> 00:03:41.000 So it can use me to harm you, it can use me to harm us, it can also use you. 00:03:41.000 --> 00:03:50.000 And it can attack you, it can attack me, it can attack the church. 00:03:54.000 --> 00:04:02.000 One caution I want to bring up as we talk about this is it's very possible when we talk about topics like this 00:04:02.000 --> 00:04:08.000 that you may think I'm talking about you or you may hear me use a word that I may have used 00:04:08.000 --> 00:04:13.000 when I spoke to you yesterday or the day before or a week ago and you may begin to think, 00:04:13.000 --> 00:04:15.000 oh, Jacob is referring to me. 00:04:15.000 --> 00:04:20.000 I want you to be absolutely confident that when I prepared this message it was ages ago 00:04:20.000 --> 00:04:24.000 and it doesn't reflect anything that has happened in the last little while. 00:04:24.000 --> 00:04:29.000 So you've got to be free of that condemnation that maybe he's saying something about me. 00:04:29.000 --> 00:04:31.000 I'm not. 00:04:31.000 --> 00:04:38.000 Yeah, but if you feel like that, shake off the condemnation and then see if there's any need for conviction. 00:04:38.000 --> 00:04:43.000 Shake off the condemnation and see if there's any need for conviction. 00:04:43.000 --> 00:04:48.000 Because this topic might always bring up something in me that kind of matches Jezebel 00:04:48.000 --> 00:04:54.000 and at times like that, shake off the condemnation, seek conviction. 00:04:54.000 --> 00:04:57.000 So that's one caution. 00:04:57.000 --> 00:05:05.000 The second, one of the reasons, I spent almost a sleepless night asking God, 00:05:05.000 --> 00:05:07.000 why do you want us to talk about this? 00:05:07.000 --> 00:05:09.000 Because I got notes on priests. 00:05:09.000 --> 00:05:18.000 I heard what Derek spoke last Sunday and it was his, yeah, I was just going to say that his passion came through. 00:05:18.000 --> 00:05:20.000 It was very good. 00:05:20.000 --> 00:05:24.000 And I mentioned that to him and I was really blessed hearing that. 00:05:24.000 --> 00:05:26.000 I was thinking we'll go along the same line. 00:05:26.000 --> 00:05:27.000 So why come up with this? 00:05:27.000 --> 00:05:29.000 And right from last night, I've been struggling with this. 00:05:29.000 --> 00:05:32.000 And one of the things God is saying is I want you to know where you are. 00:05:32.000 --> 00:05:36.000 Therefore, I also want you to be aware that because of where you are, 00:05:36.000 --> 00:05:39.000 these things are going to happen and you need to take charge of it. 00:05:39.000 --> 00:05:42.000 So where we are is Psalm 114. 00:05:42.000 --> 00:05:48.000 Psalm 114. 00:05:48.000 --> 00:05:50.000 Psalm 114. 00:05:50.000 --> 00:05:55.000 Let me read the first verse from King James, the second verse from the message, 00:05:55.000 --> 00:06:01.000 and then the seventh verse to give you an idea of where we are. 00:06:01.000 --> 00:06:07.000 So I'd like to say that Acts 29 has come out of Egypt 00:06:07.000 --> 00:06:13.000 and has come out of people with strange language or strange foreign ways. 00:06:13.000 --> 00:06:18.000 As in God is saying, listen, I brought you to a place where I pulled you out of bondage 00:06:18.000 --> 00:06:25.000 and I brought you to a place where you're no longer like the culture around you. 00:06:25.000 --> 00:06:28.000 And he's never said this, at least to me, about us before, 00:06:28.000 --> 00:06:31.000 that I've brought you out of a place of bondage. 00:06:31.000 --> 00:06:33.000 It doesn't mean that there are no places of bondage in our lives, 00:06:33.000 --> 00:06:37.000 but he's taught us how to work ourselves out of bondage. 00:06:37.000 --> 00:06:42.000 Anybody and everybody in this congregation has the ability or the help 00:06:42.000 --> 00:06:47.000 or the knowledge and the access to the Holy Spirit to come out of bondage. 00:06:47.000 --> 00:06:50.000 It is possible in this church. So that's one. 00:06:50.000 --> 00:06:54.000 The second part is that I have removed you from a people of strange languages, 00:06:54.000 --> 00:06:58.000 as in you are no longer a part of the culture. 00:06:58.000 --> 00:07:01.000 And one of the things Jezebel does is she brings confusion 00:07:01.000 --> 00:07:06.000 so that you don't know what to embrace and what to resist from culture. 00:07:06.000 --> 00:07:08.000 But that we'll talk about later. 00:07:08.000 --> 00:07:11.000 So these are two things that God has already done. 00:07:11.000 --> 00:07:12.000 And then he goes to verse two. 00:07:12.000 --> 00:07:15.000 I want to read verse two from the message to give you an idea of what God is saying. 00:07:16.000 --> 00:07:21.000 Hey guys, see, sometimes when I use words like, listen to what God is saying, 00:07:21.000 --> 00:07:23.000 I actually mean it. 00:07:23.000 --> 00:07:26.000 And I stand before God before I say this in the congregation. 00:07:26.000 --> 00:07:30.000 Because to say that God is saying something when he actually didn't say it 00:07:30.000 --> 00:07:34.000 or when Jacob dreamt it up is a dangerous thing for Jacob himself. 00:07:34.000 --> 00:07:36.000 Leave alone for the rest of us. 00:07:36.000 --> 00:07:41.000 So when I say this, it comes across casually, but it's not casual. 00:07:41.000 --> 00:07:44.000 It is almost like a... 00:07:47.000 --> 00:07:50.000 How best to put it without sounding boastful? 00:07:50.000 --> 00:07:55.000 It's almost like a direct word from God saying, listen, this is your present status. 00:07:55.000 --> 00:07:58.000 And so the second word is there from the message, puts it this way. 00:07:58.000 --> 00:08:01.000 And this is God saying it to us, not to me, to us. 00:08:01.000 --> 00:08:02.000 Here's what he's saying. 00:08:02.000 --> 00:08:05.000 You have become a holy land for me. 00:08:05.000 --> 00:08:07.000 You have become a place of holy rule. 00:08:07.000 --> 00:08:09.000 You have become a holy land for me. 00:08:09.000 --> 00:08:11.000 You have become a place of holy rule. 00:08:11.000 --> 00:08:19.000 In the Psalm 114 verse 2 says, Judah has become a holy place for me to dwell. 00:08:19.000 --> 00:08:22.000 And Judah has become a place for my holy rule. 00:08:22.000 --> 00:08:24.000 He's brought us to that place. 00:08:24.000 --> 00:08:25.000 He thinks like this. 00:08:25.000 --> 00:08:29.000 From his perspective, he's already thinking of us like this. 00:08:29.000 --> 00:08:31.000 From our perspective, we don't. 00:08:31.000 --> 00:08:33.000 Or we struggle to. 00:08:33.000 --> 00:08:37.000 One of the easiest ways to believe things is to start thinking like it. 00:08:37.000 --> 00:08:41.000 You don't believe things by exerting faith first. 00:08:41.000 --> 00:08:44.000 You believe things by thinking like God. 00:08:44.000 --> 00:08:49.000 Once you begin to think like God, then faith is very easy. 00:08:53.000 --> 00:08:56.000 Which is why I said look at the message because I go over every verse 00:08:56.000 --> 00:08:59.000 and trying to see is there anything else that you want to say. 00:08:59.000 --> 00:09:01.000 Acts 29 became holy land for him. 00:09:01.000 --> 00:09:03.000 Israel the place. 00:09:03.000 --> 00:09:06.000 Sorry, Acts 29 became holy land for him. 00:09:06.000 --> 00:09:10.000 And Acts 29 became a place of his holy rule. 00:09:13.000 --> 00:09:14.000 Then verse 7. 00:09:16.000 --> 00:09:20.000 Verse 7 says, tremble earth. 00:09:22.000 --> 00:09:25.000 You're in the Lord's presence, in the presence of Jacob's God. 00:09:25.000 --> 00:09:27.000 Tremble earth. 00:09:27.000 --> 00:09:29.000 As in earth. 00:09:31.000 --> 00:09:32.000 Take note. 00:09:33.000 --> 00:09:37.000 This group of people, I dwell amongst them. 00:09:37.000 --> 00:09:39.000 Start trembling. 00:09:39.000 --> 00:09:44.000 Because what I'll do through them will shake the earth. 00:09:44.000 --> 00:09:49.000 These are terribly boastful presumptuous things if they were not from God. 00:09:52.000 --> 00:09:53.000 Delusional. 00:09:56.000 --> 00:09:58.000 But tremble earth. 00:09:59.000 --> 00:10:03.000 Because this is a place of my presence. 00:10:05.000 --> 00:10:11.000 With these people, and he's talking about this group of people and any other people connected. 00:10:11.000 --> 00:10:14.000 It will spread. It is like the body. 00:10:16.000 --> 00:10:20.000 Pain here and you feel it here and here and here and here. 00:10:20.000 --> 00:10:22.000 I don't know how it spreads. 00:10:24.000 --> 00:10:26.000 This is where we are at. 00:10:26.000 --> 00:10:30.000 It's very hard to accept on a normal day except when we're talking like this. 00:10:30.000 --> 00:10:32.000 But I'm hoping we can think like this. 00:10:32.000 --> 00:10:33.000 Thinking like this helps you believe it. 00:10:33.000 --> 00:10:35.000 This is where we are at. 00:10:37.000 --> 00:10:39.000 This is the... 00:10:39.000 --> 00:10:41.000 We won't get through this today. 00:10:41.000 --> 00:10:44.000 Even though the Chinese congregation is not coming. 00:10:44.000 --> 00:10:47.000 Because I can only go till 2.30. How much further can you go? 00:10:47.000 --> 00:10:49.000 Mei is not here. 00:10:49.000 --> 00:10:53.000 She's got a football game this afternoon. 00:10:56.000 --> 00:10:58.000 So here's the thing guys. 00:10:58.000 --> 00:11:00.000 There's something... 00:11:00.000 --> 00:11:05.000 Some of you who have been here for 10, 15 years used to hear this word a lot in the past. 00:11:05.000 --> 00:11:07.000 Present truth. 00:11:07.000 --> 00:11:14.000 Present truth is the truth that God is revealing at this time to the church. 00:11:14.000 --> 00:11:16.000 It is not new truth. 00:11:16.000 --> 00:11:19.000 It is old things that he's picking up and revealing. 00:11:19.000 --> 00:11:23.000 It's like a parent who got a whole lot of gifts for the kids for Christmas. 00:11:23.000 --> 00:11:28.000 When a kid thinks they only got a car and then after they break the car a plane comes out. 00:11:28.000 --> 00:11:30.000 After they break the plane a camera comes out. 00:11:30.000 --> 00:11:34.000 It's like old truths that are being revealed presently. 00:11:34.000 --> 00:11:35.000 This is the present truth. 00:11:35.000 --> 00:11:37.000 This is where we are at. 00:11:37.000 --> 00:11:39.000 If you're able to receive it, great. 00:11:39.000 --> 00:11:41.000 If you're not able to receive it, grapple with it. 00:11:41.000 --> 00:11:43.000 Wrestle with it. 00:11:43.000 --> 00:11:45.000 If you're a leader, you don't have a choice. 00:11:45.000 --> 00:11:47.000 You better receive it. 00:11:47.000 --> 00:11:52.000 Because otherwise you won't be able to walk in it. 00:11:52.000 --> 00:12:01.000 So given that as our present condition, this is why this is a great time for you to join this church. 00:12:01.000 --> 00:12:06.000 In fact, we should charge you. 00:12:06.000 --> 00:12:16.000 But because of a time like this, Jezebel is also presently active to thwart this. 00:12:16.000 --> 00:12:26.000 Jezebel is presently active to thwart this. 00:12:26.000 --> 00:12:27.000 Thwart what? 00:12:27.000 --> 00:12:28.000 Thwart the presence of God. 00:12:28.000 --> 00:12:31.000 Choke out the life of God. 00:12:31.000 --> 00:12:33.000 Use me. 00:12:33.000 --> 00:12:34.000 Use me or use you. 00:12:34.000 --> 00:12:37.000 Attack me or attack you. 00:12:37.000 --> 00:12:42.000 Therefore an exposure of the enemy is a good idea. 00:12:42.000 --> 00:12:45.000 Any questions on that before we go on? 00:12:45.000 --> 00:12:48.000 Any questions on that before we go on? 00:12:48.000 --> 00:13:01.000 The way Jezebel works is attack the congregation and in the process affect individuals. 00:13:01.000 --> 00:13:11.000 Or attack leadership and in the process affect individuals. 00:13:11.000 --> 00:13:15.000 Or attack leadership and in the process affect individuals. 00:13:15.000 --> 00:13:24.000 The great thing about the Bible being a historical record of what God did is that we know the strategy the enemy uses. 00:13:25.000 --> 00:13:31.000 Therefore these are the two methods that Jezebel uses, both in the Old and the New Testament. 00:13:31.000 --> 00:13:39.000 Attack the congregation as in seduce through false ways and teachings the congregation so that you can compromise the congregation. 00:13:39.000 --> 00:13:44.000 Or attack the leaders and gain influence with them so that individuals are affected. 00:13:44.000 --> 00:13:47.000 These are the two ways Jezebel always works. 00:13:47.000 --> 00:13:49.000 Any questions? 00:13:50.000 --> 00:13:58.000 And this spirit has, one of the odd things about this spirit is, I don't even want to call it a spirit. 00:13:58.000 --> 00:14:03.000 I want to call it something larger than just an ordinary spirit. 00:14:03.000 --> 00:14:04.000 Let's call it a power. 00:14:04.000 --> 00:14:16.000 This power has the ability to give tremendous strength to individuals to defy God, to defy the people of God and defy priests, prophets and kings. 00:14:16.000 --> 00:14:18.000 Which all of us are. 00:14:18.000 --> 00:14:22.000 It empowers like crazy. 00:14:22.000 --> 00:14:35.000 It allows a person or a group of people to go against God's plans, God's people and God's appointed leaders. 00:14:35.000 --> 00:14:38.000 It has the ability. 00:14:38.000 --> 00:14:40.000 It has the ability. 00:14:40.000 --> 00:14:45.000 Some of the things we have to be careful of in the Bible, and I'm going off topic here. 00:14:45.000 --> 00:14:50.000 The Antichrist spirit, Legion, Jezebel, 00:14:52.000 --> 00:14:54.000 There's one more. 00:14:58.000 --> 00:14:59.000 Forgot. 00:14:59.000 --> 00:15:01.000 Leviathan. 00:15:01.000 --> 00:15:05.000 Antichrist spirit, Legion, Jezebel, Leviathan. 00:15:05.000 --> 00:15:08.000 These are four powers that are pretty powerful. 00:15:08.000 --> 00:15:28.000 And all four have the ability to cause a person or a group of people to defy God, to go up against the things of God, the people of God, the leaders of God, with a defiance that is humanly not natural. 00:15:35.000 --> 00:15:45.000 They can say things that are pretty strong, that we wouldn't do with our parents or with our bosses or with anybody. 00:15:45.000 --> 00:15:47.000 They are pretty strong with that. 00:15:47.000 --> 00:15:49.000 Just be aware of that. 00:15:49.000 --> 00:15:50.000 Yeah. 00:15:50.000 --> 00:15:51.000 Yeah. 00:15:51.000 --> 00:16:02.000 So Jezebel is out to destroy kingdoms. 00:16:02.000 --> 00:16:11.000 So Jezebel attacks leaders or a people as a whole or goes after a people as a whole. 00:16:11.000 --> 00:16:15.000 Can I seduce an entire group of people to compromise? 00:16:15.000 --> 00:16:19.000 Can I bring them into a place of sexual immorality, that or idolatry? 00:16:19.000 --> 00:16:25.000 The two things that the Jerusalem Council said, do not engage in to the Gentiles. 00:16:25.000 --> 00:16:30.000 Those were the prevalent sins at that time that the church spoke out against. 00:16:30.000 --> 00:16:32.000 Now it can be something else. 00:16:32.000 --> 00:16:40.000 It is this inability to resist or say no to secular culture and the things of culture around us. 00:16:40.000 --> 00:16:51.000 And so if I can get an entire congregation, then Moses and Aaron or Joshua and Caleb are singled out. 00:16:51.000 --> 00:16:57.000 They don't have much play now because now the entire congregation is ready to stone them. 00:16:57.000 --> 00:16:58.000 Or they go after leaders. 00:16:58.000 --> 00:17:02.000 In Thyatira, Jezebel had influence with leaders. 00:17:02.000 --> 00:17:06.000 In Revelation 2 it talks about it. 00:17:06.000 --> 00:17:16.000 Because it is impossible in a fledgling church and the New Testament church that was set up then for a woman to have that much influence, 00:17:16.000 --> 00:17:21.000 where she was now seducing with her teachings people into immorality and idolatry. 00:17:21.000 --> 00:17:24.000 Unless there was room with the leaders. 00:17:24.000 --> 00:17:26.000 So it's not after individuals. 00:17:26.000 --> 00:17:31.000 It is after, if it is ever after individuals, it is to destroy a people. 00:17:31.000 --> 00:17:37.000 Jezebel in the Old Testament brought a nation to apostasy. 00:17:37.000 --> 00:17:40.000 You're talking about God's chosen nation. 00:17:40.000 --> 00:17:43.000 Think of the enormity of what we're dealing with. 00:17:43.000 --> 00:17:50.000 As much as God's presence and his influence is in the nation, 00:17:50.000 --> 00:18:02.000 as much as God's presence and his holy rule and his holy resting place is this congregation and the connections beyond this congregation, 00:18:02.000 --> 00:18:09.000 we must also be aware of the present reality of a power called Jezebel who is active now. 00:18:09.000 --> 00:18:11.000 I wouldn't bring this up if it was something in the future. 00:18:11.000 --> 00:18:13.000 I'm talking about it because it's important now. 00:18:14.000 --> 00:18:23.000 This is, what is it when something doesn't fit in the flow of things? 00:18:23.000 --> 00:18:25.000 It starts with anomaly. 00:18:25.000 --> 00:18:28.000 This is an anomaly in terms of the teaching. 00:18:28.000 --> 00:18:37.000 But it is because it's the present reality and it must be exposed and violently taken care of. 00:18:37.000 --> 00:18:46.000 It had the power to bring a nation that Yahweh chose for himself to a place of absolute apostasy. 00:18:46.000 --> 00:18:49.000 It had the power to ruin the king of that nation 00:18:49.000 --> 00:18:57.000 and it had the power to cause the prophet of the nation to flee and to resign and to disappear. 00:19:04.000 --> 00:19:06.000 So Jezebel, what is the point of this teaching then? 00:19:06.000 --> 00:19:10.000 It is to make us aware. So once you're aware, you're guarded. 00:19:10.000 --> 00:19:15.000 And then, when necessary, take a stance together. 00:19:15.000 --> 00:19:17.000 Where? In the church? 00:19:17.000 --> 00:19:21.000 Not really because when we say in the church, we think of a Sunday morning. 00:19:21.000 --> 00:19:28.000 In your lives, in your marriages, in your homes, in your interactions with each other, in my interactions with you, 00:19:28.000 --> 00:19:33.000 in your interactions with me, in your interactions with leaders, in leaders' interactions with you. 00:19:36.000 --> 00:19:42.000 In terms of what and how we discuss teachings, what and how we discuss people around us. 00:19:46.000 --> 00:19:50.000 This is a time when this will be very active and I'm cutting its head off. 00:19:50.000 --> 00:19:54.000 That's part of my responsibility, right? 00:19:54.000 --> 00:19:59.000 At least, the Book of Acts and Paul in his epistle says so. 00:19:59.000 --> 00:20:09.000 So if you go to Acts 16, 16, that's one of the places in the New Testament where you see the beginning of this. 00:20:09.000 --> 00:20:18.000 In Acts 16, 16, you find that there's a woman with a spirit of divination. 00:20:18.000 --> 00:20:24.000 Divination is the ability to extract and foretell the future using other supernatural powers. 00:20:24.000 --> 00:20:31.000 The spirit of divination is also called Python. 00:20:33.000 --> 00:20:35.000 And why was it called Python? 00:20:35.000 --> 00:20:43.520 Because Python was a mythical serpent that had the ability to predict the future through a process called the 00:20:43.520 --> 00:20:52.520 That had the ability to predict the future through a priestess in Delphi, which was where Paul now finds himself. 00:20:52.520 --> 00:20:58.520 And this girl who has the spirit of divination is walking around the city saying these are men of the Most High God. 00:20:58.520 --> 00:21:04.520 And she's trying to predict the future under the power of a spirit of divination. 00:21:06.520 --> 00:21:10.520 And in that place were caves and these were called the Caves of Delphi. 00:21:10.520 --> 00:21:15.520 And there was a priestess who operated under the power of this python and began would speak. 00:21:15.520 --> 00:21:18.520 So the spirit of divination is also in the Bible. 00:21:18.520 --> 00:21:23.520 I'm not pulling out this from any Greek mythology or anything in the Bible. 00:21:23.520 --> 00:21:25.520 It's called the spirit of Python. 00:21:26.520 --> 00:21:39.520 The spirit of divination in 1 Samuel 15, 23 is the same as rebellion. 00:21:39.520 --> 00:21:42.520 Divination is as unto. 00:21:44.520 --> 00:21:47.520 Yeah, witchcraft and divination are the same thing. 00:21:47.520 --> 00:21:50.520 Witchcraft is as unto rebellion. 00:21:51.520 --> 00:21:55.520 Rebellion is being an authority to oneself. 00:21:58.520 --> 00:22:01.520 That's what the basic definition of rebellion is. 00:22:03.520 --> 00:22:05.520 Being an authority to oneself. 00:22:07.520 --> 00:22:14.520 You see that in Isaiah 30 verse 1 and 2. 00:22:21.520 --> 00:22:27.520 So one of the things we have to be careful of during this time is that let me speak from just my perspective. 00:22:27.520 --> 00:22:30.520 I have to be careful not to be an authority unto myself. 00:22:30.520 --> 00:22:36.520 And it's easy for someone who leads a congregation to become an authority unto himself. 00:22:36.520 --> 00:22:38.520 So I've got to be careful of that. 00:22:40.520 --> 00:22:43.520 It applies to you too, but I don't want to, with this message I have to be careful. 00:22:43.520 --> 00:22:47.520 I've been pleading with God, Father, let this message not condemn. 00:22:47.520 --> 00:22:51.520 So that's why I'm using myself as an example, though I prefer using you as an example. 00:22:55.520 --> 00:22:59.520 So one of the things I have to guard against is being an authority unto myself. 00:22:59.520 --> 00:23:03.520 Because the moment I'm an authority unto myself, I come into a place of rebellion. 00:23:04.520 --> 00:23:11.520 I come into a place of rebellion against God and rebellion against what is biblical and rebellion against... 00:23:12.520 --> 00:23:16.520 I don't have to rebel against the body, but I see the body as less important to me. 00:23:16.520 --> 00:23:21.520 Because I'm the guy who decides what needs to happen and who are you to tell me. 00:23:28.520 --> 00:23:31.520 So we've got to guard against this at this present time. 00:23:32.520 --> 00:23:39.520 And just as Jezebel comes against a congregation, you think Jesus isn't smarter. 00:23:39.520 --> 00:23:43.520 What do you think he's doing now? Building up a congregation so that the individuals are preserved. 00:23:43.520 --> 00:23:45.520 That's what we're doing. 00:23:47.520 --> 00:23:52.520 Just as Jezebel comes against a congregation to target the individual, what do you think Jesus is doing now? 00:23:52.520 --> 00:23:58.520 He's teaching us together as a congregation to build up the individual so that we're not taken. 00:24:04.520 --> 00:24:07.520 I'm not an authority unto myself, I'm here to serve. 00:24:08.520 --> 00:24:15.520 So just as Jezebel attacks a congregation to hunt down individuals, 00:24:15.520 --> 00:24:19.520 so Jesus, what do you think he's doing right now? 00:24:19.520 --> 00:24:25.520 Building up a congregation, teaching a congregation so that each individual can be built up. 00:24:25.520 --> 00:24:29.520 And once that happens, we are reinforced against such evil. 00:24:29.520 --> 00:24:35.520 And that's why even though it's great that house churches meet and do their things, 00:24:35.520 --> 00:24:40.520 times like this on a Sunday are important for the house churches to meet together and get common direction. 00:24:43.520 --> 00:24:48.520 Because sometimes people wonder, why can't we just stay in house churches? Not you, others wonder. 00:24:49.520 --> 00:24:58.520 One of the things that happens with the Spirit is it distorts or silences the voice of the prophetic. 00:25:05.520 --> 00:25:12.520 It restricts the liberty of the Spirit. 00:25:17.520 --> 00:25:24.520 It depletes resources in a church, both manpower and money. 00:25:26.520 --> 00:25:28.520 I'll explain how. 00:25:29.520 --> 00:25:32.520 So it distorts and silences the voice of the prophetic. 00:25:32.520 --> 00:25:35.520 It either distorts by bringing in... 00:25:35.520 --> 00:25:42.520 Guys, one of the things that happens with this power is it sees if it can be tolerated, 00:25:42.520 --> 00:25:51.520 not paid attention to, so that it slowly begins to permeate lives. 00:25:51.520 --> 00:25:55.520 So whenever the prophetic happens in this church for the next little while, 00:25:55.520 --> 00:25:58.520 let's wait and see if it's accurate. 00:26:00.520 --> 00:26:02.520 Let's wait and see if it's accurate. 00:26:03.520 --> 00:26:05.520 Because this church is prophetic. 00:26:05.520 --> 00:26:07.520 And what do I mean by this church is prophetic? 00:26:07.520 --> 00:26:12.520 All I mean is most people who come to this church learn how to hear God. 00:26:13.520 --> 00:26:19.520 And at the end of the day, hearing God is what makes us able to convey the heart and the will of God. 00:26:21.520 --> 00:26:23.520 So this church does that quite naturally. 00:26:24.520 --> 00:26:29.520 It's almost like if you come into this congregation, it's natural for you to at some point begin to behave like that. 00:26:29.520 --> 00:26:35.520 But with that, that's why this power targets churches like this, 00:26:35.520 --> 00:26:38.520 because this power wants to see if the prophetic can be distorted. 00:26:39.520 --> 00:26:46.520 Can the will and the desire and the words and the heart of God that is being conveyed on the spot to people 00:26:46.520 --> 00:26:52.520 changing their destinies around in a second, because that's how God works, proceeding word. 00:26:52.520 --> 00:26:58.520 Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God, instantly turning lives around. 00:26:59.520 --> 00:27:03.520 Can I contaminate this, pollute this, make this river muddy, 00:27:03.520 --> 00:27:07.520 so that what comes out of it becomes more and more difficult to fathom? 00:29:45.520 --> 00:29:48.520 So that out of you will come an intimate cry saying what? 00:29:48.520 --> 00:29:49.520 I'm a father. 00:29:49.520 --> 00:29:55.520 Not in that tone, but that was what was supposed to come out first. 00:29:55.520 --> 00:30:00.520 And so this power tries to restrict the freedom that one has with the Father. 00:30:00.520 --> 00:30:01.520 So what do we do? 00:30:01.520 --> 00:30:03.520 We go exactly the opposite way. 00:30:03.520 --> 00:30:08.520 One of the best things to do when something attacks you is go exactly in the opposite Spirit. 00:30:11.520 --> 00:30:13.520 And then it depletes resources in a church. 00:30:13.520 --> 00:30:17.520 As in it has us spend a lot of time taking care of the church. 00:30:17.520 --> 00:30:20.520 It has us spend a lot of time taking care of the church. 00:30:20.520 --> 00:30:22.520 It depletes resources in a church. 00:30:22.520 --> 00:30:29.520 As in it has us spend a lot of time taking care of or addressing things that aren't important. 00:30:29.520 --> 00:30:33.520 And so you end up depleting manpower and resources. 00:30:33.520 --> 00:30:38.520 And at a time like this we need to gather in and distill and prioritize. 00:30:38.520 --> 00:30:43.520 And I give you my word I'll do that because I'm responsible for that. 00:30:43.520 --> 00:30:46.520 And I've got enough people to help me with it. 00:30:47.520 --> 00:30:51.520 One of the mistakes I'm making, and I've got to be careful about this in the future, 00:30:51.520 --> 00:30:56.520 and I just want to say it out loud so that it's confessed and done, 00:30:56.520 --> 00:31:05.520 is I said some weeks ago that when people from other parts of the world come into this congregation 00:31:05.520 --> 00:31:09.520 and spend a week or so here, they are usually changed. 00:31:09.520 --> 00:31:15.520 They go back with a different hunger, thirst, desire, perspective of who God can be amongst the people 00:31:15.520 --> 00:31:16.520 and how God can be. 00:31:16.520 --> 00:31:20.520 And this is true. I've seen it in the last six months over a few lives. 00:31:20.520 --> 00:31:26.520 But we also have to be careful of people that we invite 00:31:26.520 --> 00:31:30.520 because some of them come to spy on our freedom as it says in Galatians 2, 4 and 5. 00:31:30.520 --> 00:31:32.520 And in the end it leaves us poor or not richer. 00:31:32.520 --> 00:31:39.520 It's like opening your treasures like Hezekiah did to people you don't need to show your treasures to. 00:31:39.520 --> 00:31:42.520 We've got to be a little more careful.
