disruptive in the sense that it devastates the enemy 00:00:11.120 --> 00:00:15.440 and it just builds us up as people. 00:00:15.440 --> 00:00:20.960 His glory is basically his splendor, his weight, his magnificence, his power, his laughter, 00:00:20.960 --> 00:00:22.080 his goodness. 00:00:22.080 --> 00:00:23.680 Laughter is part of his glory. 00:00:23.680 --> 00:00:25.840 This God isn't a sad God. 00:00:25.840 --> 00:00:28.760 This God is just so joyful. 00:00:28.760 --> 00:00:31.720 Which is why he hates stuff like death and sorrow. 00:00:31.720 --> 00:00:36.560 Which is why when you finally get to where he lives at present, you'll find that there 00:00:36.560 --> 00:00:40.760 is no death, there is no sorrow, there is no tears, there is no fears. 00:00:40.760 --> 00:00:43.960 There's only this thing called laughter and joy. 00:00:43.960 --> 00:00:46.040 That alone should be a selling point. 00:00:46.040 --> 00:00:53.440 Can you imagine a life where you don't cry, where you power, his laughter, his goodness, his magnificence, his weight. 00:01:04.060 --> 00:01:10.260 That's the actual word for glory in Hebrew, kabod, or the weight of him. 00:01:10.260 --> 00:01:16.580 And so we are saying that God's glory is so disruptive that on one hand it devastates 00:01:16.580 --> 00:01:19.860 Satan's plans, devastates, nothing is left. 00:01:19.860 --> 00:01:22.260 He decimates Satan's plans. 00:01:22.260 --> 00:01:28.300 And on the other hand for the people of the earth, as in the ones he's created, us, his 00:01:28.300 --> 00:01:33.180 power, his laughter, his weight, his magnificence, his splendor, just lifts us up into another 00:01:33.180 --> 00:01:34.180 plane. 00:01:34.180 --> 00:01:35.180 And that's what we've been talking about. 00:01:35.180 --> 00:01:41.660 And so today we'll talk about how one of the things he did, and the Bible talks about it, 00:01:41.660 --> 00:01:49.580 it says in Colossians 2, 15 for instance, the glory of Christ reached its apex, the 00:01:49.580 --> 00:01:54.940 glory of Christ reached its apex in his obedient sacrifice on the cross. 00:01:54.940 --> 00:02:08.260 The glory of Christ, the glory of Christ reached its peak on the cross. 00:02:08.260 --> 00:02:12.700 That's when you realize, oh shucks, look at what he's done. 00:02:12.700 --> 00:02:30.420 And it was devastatingly disruptive for Satan. 00:02:30.420 --> 00:02:31.420 Devastatingly disruptive for Satan. 00:02:31.420 --> 00:02:50.980 And if you read Colossians 2, 15, Colossians 2, 15, Colossians 2, 15, it says that, I'll 00:02:50.980 --> 00:02:58.220 read from verse 14 onwards, it says, verse 13, when you were dead in your sins, God made 00:02:58.620 --> 00:03:02.660 you, when you were dead in your sins and in the uncircumcision of your sinful nature, 00:03:02.660 --> 00:03:04.060 God made you alive with Christ. 00:03:04.060 --> 00:03:10.220 He forgave us all our sins, having canceled the written code with its regulations that 00:03:10.220 --> 00:03:13.200 was against us and that stood opposed to us. 00:03:13.200 --> 00:03:19.540 He took it away, nailing it to the cross, and having disarmed powers and authorities, 00:03:19.540 --> 00:03:23.540 he made them a public spectacle, triumphing over them by the cross. 00:03:23.540 --> 00:03:25.860 Let me read that from the message. 00:03:25.860 --> 00:03:31.660 Colossians 2, 15. 00:03:31.660 --> 00:03:36.220 Here's what it says. 00:03:36.220 --> 00:03:42.100 When you were stuck in your old sin-dead life, you were incapable of responding to God. 00:03:42.100 --> 00:03:44.580 God brought you alive right along with Christ. 00:03:44.580 --> 00:03:51.300 Think of it, all sins forgiven, the slate wiped clean, that old arrest warrant canceled, 00:03:51.300 --> 00:03:53.260 nailed to Christ's cross. 00:03:53.260 --> 00:03:58.620 He stripped all the spiritual tyrants in the universe of their sham authority at the 00:03:58.620 --> 00:04:03.780 cross and marched them naked through the streets. 00:04:03.780 --> 00:04:09.100 That's what happens at the cross, where his glory is so tremendous that it absolutely 00:04:09.100 --> 00:04:12.780 devastates every device of the devil. 00:04:12.780 --> 00:04:19.940 That's what we're going to focus on today for the next hour or so. 00:04:19.940 --> 00:04:31.260 If you read John 13, 31. 00:04:31.260 --> 00:04:38.140 This is a statement Jesus makes immediately after Judas dips his bread in the bowl and 00:04:38.140 --> 00:04:40.740 eats it and he's leaving to betray Jesus. 00:04:40.740 --> 00:04:43.460 That's when Jesus makes his statement. 00:04:43.460 --> 00:04:45.220 John 13, 31. 00:04:45.220 --> 00:04:51.100 When Judas was gone, Jesus said, now is the Son of Man glorified and God is glorified 00:04:51.100 --> 00:04:52.100 in him. 00:04:52.100 --> 00:05:00.180 If God is glorified in him, God will glorify the Son in himself and glorify him at once. 00:05:00.180 --> 00:05:02.160 Complicated sentence, but here's what he's saying. 00:05:02.160 --> 00:05:04.940 At the moment that he's going to be betrayed and he's going to be crucified, look at the 00:05:04.940 --> 00:05:05.940 statement he makes. 00:05:05.940 --> 00:05:11.500 At this moment, I have never been as glorified as at this moment. 00:05:11.500 --> 00:05:16.720 As I go to the cross, you will see my glory like no other time. 00:05:16.720 --> 00:05:20.860 This is why when you watch the movie, The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe, you see 00:05:20.860 --> 00:05:26.220 Aslan, who represents Jesus Christ, lying on that slab, absolutely cold, and you see 00:05:26.220 --> 00:05:28.700 those demonic beings dancing around him. 00:05:28.700 --> 00:05:33.420 I don't know if you remember that scene where the white witch has just stabbed him with 00:05:33.420 --> 00:05:37.200 that spear and he lies there dead. 00:05:37.200 --> 00:05:45.840 The stone is kind of broken and these demonic beings are surrounding him with glee. 00:05:45.840 --> 00:05:50.720 That was one of the most glorious moments in the universe. 00:05:50.720 --> 00:05:57.840 In that moment was the devastation of the devil. 00:05:57.840 --> 00:06:03.240 That's why here is Judas betraying him and he's going to have Jesus crucified and Jesus 00:06:03.240 --> 00:06:07.780 says, now the son is glorified and the father will glorify the son. 00:06:07.780 --> 00:06:12.300 Look at another scripture in 1 Corinthians 1.24. 00:06:12.300 --> 00:06:17.060 1 Corinthians 1.24. 00:06:17.060 --> 00:06:20.060 1 Corinthians 1.24. 00:06:20.060 --> 00:06:27.560 It says there, starting at 22, Jews demand miraculous signs. 00:06:27.560 --> 00:06:33.560 Greeks look for wisdom, but we preach Christ crucified, a stumbling block to the Jews, 00:06:33.560 --> 00:06:38.000 foolishness to the Gentiles, but to those whom God has called both Jews and Greeks, 00:06:38.000 --> 00:06:40.600 Christ is the power of God and the wisdom of God. 00:06:40.600 --> 00:06:41.600 Read it from the message. 00:06:41.600 --> 00:06:44.600 1 Corinthians 1.24. 00:06:44.600 --> 00:06:49.000 Here's what it says. 00:06:49.000 --> 00:06:54.000 While Jews clamor for miraculous demonstrations and Greeks go for philosophical wisdom, we 00:06:54.000 --> 00:06:57.400 go right on proclaiming Christ the crucified. 00:06:57.400 --> 00:06:59.360 Jews treat this like an anti-miracle. 00:06:59.360 --> 00:07:04.640 Greeks pass it off as absurd, but to us who are personally called by God himself, both 00:07:04.640 --> 00:07:12.040 Jews and Greeks, Christ is God's ultimate miracle and wisdom all wrapped in one. 00:07:12.040 --> 00:07:17.760 And so at the end of the day, the reason Paul kept saying, hey, listen, focus on Christ 00:07:17.760 --> 00:07:22.840 crucified is simply because it's the most glorious moment in the universe. 00:07:22.840 --> 00:07:26.960 Any questions on that before we go on? 00:07:26.960 --> 00:07:42.240 So if he's devastated the works of the devil, then we don't have to labor under it, and 00:07:42.240 --> 00:07:45.080 that's perhaps where we want to go today. 00:07:45.080 --> 00:07:46.240 So here's a question I have. 00:07:46.240 --> 00:07:50.600 Turn to John 14.30. 00:07:50.600 --> 00:07:52.840 Can we get to a point where we can say this? 00:07:52.840 --> 00:07:53.840 John 14.30. 00:07:53.840 --> 00:07:55.160 Here's what it says. 00:07:56.160 --> 00:08:07.160 The prince of the world, as in Satan, is coming. 00:08:07.160 --> 00:08:10.160 But I love the next thing. 00:08:11.160 --> 00:08:28.160 But he has no hold over or on me. 00:08:28.160 --> 00:08:38.160 The King James Version says he has nothing in me. 00:08:38.160 --> 00:08:43.160 This is where I want all of us to get to. 00:08:43.160 --> 00:08:46.160 John 14.30. 00:08:46.160 --> 00:08:49.160 I will not speak to you much longer, for the prince of this world is coming. 00:08:49.160 --> 00:08:51.160 He has no hold over me. 00:08:51.160 --> 00:08:53.160 He has no hold over me. 00:08:53.160 --> 00:08:56.160 I want us to come to a place as a church where we can say this. 00:08:56.160 --> 00:08:59.160 He has no hold over me. 00:08:59.160 --> 00:09:01.160 No hold over me. 00:09:01.160 --> 00:09:08.160 Because if Jesus has dealt such a devastating blow on the cross to the works of the devil, 00:09:08.160 --> 00:09:11.160 why is it that we need to continue under it? 00:09:11.160 --> 00:09:14.160 He has no hold over me. 00:09:14.160 --> 00:09:21.160 It's very hard to minister freedom to someone if I am wrestling or struggling with the bondage. 00:09:21.160 --> 00:09:30.160 So if he has no hold over me, then I can then set people free from situations where there's a hold on them. 00:09:30.160 --> 00:09:32.160 He has no hold over me. 00:09:32.160 --> 00:09:36.160 How do we get to a place where we can say that? 00:09:36.160 --> 00:09:40.160 So let's start with who Satan is. 00:09:40.160 --> 00:09:42.160 Very short. 00:09:42.160 --> 00:09:46.160 He was a serpent in the garden. 00:09:46.160 --> 00:09:50.160 And you see that in Genesis 1 and 2. 00:09:50.160 --> 00:09:56.160 He's called the devil, and the devil means slanderer. 00:09:56.160 --> 00:10:03.160 He's also called Satan, which means accuser. 00:10:03.160 --> 00:10:09.160 He's also called the deceiver, which means he deceives obviously. 00:10:09.160 --> 00:10:11.160 He's got some other problems too. 00:10:11.160 --> 00:10:14.160 He's a rebel. 00:10:14.160 --> 00:10:24.160 He's set on a course of self-exaltation, as in he loves exalting himself. 00:10:24.160 --> 00:10:26.160 That's what got him into trouble in the first place. 00:10:26.160 --> 00:10:30.160 He wanted to exalt himself beyond God, above God. 00:10:30.160 --> 00:10:38.160 And he also is set on a course of self-determination, as in I determine my future. 00:10:38.160 --> 00:10:42.160 And that is at the heart of Satanism and witchcraft. 00:10:42.160 --> 00:10:50.160 Satanism and witchcraft thrive on the simple premise that we self-determine our paths, 00:10:51.160 --> 00:10:54.160 that man is a self-determined creature. 00:10:54.160 --> 00:10:57.160 What I call good is good. What I call evil is evil. 00:10:57.160 --> 00:10:59.160 Morals are relative. 00:10:59.160 --> 00:11:02.160 Self-determination lies at the heart of Satanism and witchcraft. 00:11:02.160 --> 00:11:06.160 Witchcraft is actually being an authority unto oneself. 00:11:06.160 --> 00:11:13.160 In its simplest core form, witchcraft is being an authority unto oneself. 00:11:13.160 --> 00:11:15.160 He's a liar. 00:11:15.160 --> 00:11:18.160 Jesus said that in John 8, 44. 00:11:18.160 --> 00:11:20.160 He said Satan's a liar. 00:11:20.160 --> 00:11:24.160 And every time, Jacob, you lie, you are following in the paths of your father. 00:11:24.160 --> 00:11:28.160 He wasn't talking about his father. He was talking about Satan as a liar. 00:11:28.160 --> 00:11:30.160 These are characteristics then. 00:11:30.160 --> 00:11:35.160 If you want to live a life that is free of bondage, 00:11:35.160 --> 00:11:39.160 and you want to begin to live a life where John 14, 30 is something you and I can say, 00:11:39.160 --> 00:11:41.160 that he has no hold over me. 00:11:41.160 --> 00:11:47.160 One of the simplest places we can begin at is if we decide not to live, 00:11:48.160 --> 00:11:52.160 we need to share in these characteristics. 00:11:57.160 --> 00:11:59.160 It may not happen overnight. 00:12:02.160 --> 00:12:06.160 It's odd how kids learn to do this by the time they're three years old. 00:12:06.160 --> 00:12:12.160 Kids slander, kids accuse, kids lie, kids deceive, kids rebel. 00:12:13.160 --> 00:12:17.160 And so sometimes this is not possible to overcome it overnight. 00:12:17.160 --> 00:12:21.160 So what if every time I slander, or I speak ill of you, or I gossip, 00:12:21.160 --> 00:12:26.160 every time I accuse you, every time I deceive you, every time I lie, 00:12:26.160 --> 00:12:29.160 every time I rebel against order or what is set in place, 00:12:29.160 --> 00:12:34.160 every time I self-exalt myself, every time I take over the reins of my life, 00:12:34.160 --> 00:12:40.160 every time I lie, what if I decided I wouldn't participate in these characteristics? 00:12:41.160 --> 00:12:45.160 I get to a place where he will have no hold on me. 00:12:46.160 --> 00:12:50.160 That's a great place to be, not just for yourself because it benefits others. 00:12:50.160 --> 00:12:53.160 The moment you get to this place where he has no hold on you, 00:12:53.160 --> 00:12:56.160 you begin to set others free, easily. 00:13:01.160 --> 00:13:03.160 Any questions? 00:13:06.160 --> 00:13:09.160 Hate these, hate these characteristics with a passion. 00:13:09.160 --> 00:13:14.160 Hate it. Every time you see yourself aligning under these, hate it. 00:13:15.160 --> 00:13:19.160 Like I said last week, hate is the only way to get rid of some things. 00:13:19.160 --> 00:13:22.160 Anything that you don't hate, you will tolerate. 00:13:30.160 --> 00:13:32.160 Any questions? 00:13:35.160 --> 00:13:37.160 Okay. 00:13:37.160 --> 00:13:40.160 So what was the disruptive work at the cross? 00:13:40.160 --> 00:13:42.160 What was the disruptive work at the cross? 00:13:42.160 --> 00:13:47.160 Because if we can identify the disruptive work that happened at the cross, 00:13:48.160 --> 00:13:51.160 then we can make sure that we never labor under it again. 00:13:51.160 --> 00:13:53.160 And here, what is it? 00:13:53.160 --> 00:13:55.160 Here was the disruptive work at the cross. 00:13:55.160 --> 00:13:57.160 It's in Colossians 2, verse 16. 00:13:57.160 --> 00:13:58.160 It's brilliant. 00:13:58.160 --> 00:14:01.160 And I pray that you and I never labor under it again 00:14:01.160 --> 00:14:03.160 and every time we get caught in it, that we, 00:14:03.160 --> 00:14:05.160 break free, saying, I know what Jesus did. 00:14:05.160 --> 00:14:07.160 I am going to go under that yoke. 00:14:07.160 --> 00:14:11.160 Colossians 2, verse 15. 00:14:11.160 --> 00:14:14.160 And having disarmed the powers and authorities, 00:14:14.160 --> 00:14:16.160 he made a public spectacle of them, 00:14:16.160 --> 00:14:18.160 triumphing over them by the cross. 00:14:18.160 --> 00:14:19.160 Verse 14. 00:14:19.160 --> 00:14:22.160 Having canceled the written code with its regulations, 00:14:22.160 --> 00:14:24.160 that was against us and that stood opposed to us. 00:14:24.160 --> 00:14:27.160 So here's the thing about the disruptive work at the cross. 00:14:27.160 --> 00:14:31.160 It's a very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, 00:14:31.160 --> 00:14:33.160 very, very, very, very, very, very, very, 00:14:33.160 --> 00:14:35.160 very, very, very, very, very, very, 00:14:35.160 --> 00:14:38.160 very powerful, powerful, powerful act stood opposed to us. 00:14:38.160 --> 00:14:45.160 So here's the thing, guys, when Jesus said that he disarmed powers at the cross, 00:14:49.160 --> 00:14:52.160 when Jesus said he disarmed powers at the cross, 00:14:52.160 --> 00:14:56.160 what he was really saying was that he took away 00:14:56.160 --> 00:15:07.840 hold me or hold anybody to the debt of their sins. 00:15:07.840 --> 00:15:11.120 That's what he did. 00:15:11.120 --> 00:15:12.520 Spend some time here. 00:15:12.520 --> 00:15:18.480 Hey, when you do harm to somebody and you know you're wrong and that they were innocent, 00:15:18.480 --> 00:15:20.320 you struggle with the guilt of it. 00:15:20.320 --> 00:15:22.320 Hey, you feel obliged to now make it up. 00:15:22.320 --> 00:15:25.040 You try to get back into the good books of people. 00:15:25.040 --> 00:15:28.400 Meet your husband, your wife, your father, your mother, your friend. 00:15:28.400 --> 00:15:30.720 With God it is the same thing. 00:15:30.720 --> 00:15:35.240 For a people who are restored and forgiven, I'm talking about those that have given their 00:15:35.240 --> 00:15:40.520 lives to Jesus Christ, for a people that are restored and forgiven, we labor under sin 00:15:40.520 --> 00:15:42.080 way too much. 00:15:42.080 --> 00:15:48.160 And let today be a day when we are forever set free from laboring under it, as in carrying 00:15:48.160 --> 00:15:55.000 it around for a day or two, walking in the sense of not being sure whether it's taken 00:15:55.000 --> 00:16:00.880 care of, whether I'm fully accepted or not, whether I have to be a good day or two, whether 00:16:00.880 --> 00:16:02.680 I have to promise him stuff. 00:16:02.680 --> 00:16:07.480 Now, one of the things that Jesus did at the cross when he disarmed the powers at the cross 00:16:07.480 --> 00:16:13.440 was to disarm Satan's power to hold the debt of sin against me. 00:16:13.440 --> 00:16:16.440 And Satan used to have the legal right to do this. 00:16:16.440 --> 00:16:17.440 You must understand that. 00:16:17.720 --> 00:16:19.560 Let's write that down and we can talk about it. 00:16:19.560 --> 00:16:44.400 Satan used, Satan used, Satan uses the legal standing he had in wielding the law to separate 00:16:44.400 --> 00:16:45.400 us from God. 00:16:45.880 --> 00:16:50.920 I know these are unnecessarily complex sentences, to separate us from God. 00:16:50.920 --> 00:16:52.920 So here's how it is. 00:16:52.920 --> 00:16:55.560 It is that I set a law. 00:16:55.560 --> 00:16:59.360 The law is you cannot breathe for the next 20 seconds. 00:16:59.360 --> 00:17:00.360 He breaks the law. 00:17:00.360 --> 00:17:01.560 He starts breathing. 00:17:01.560 --> 00:17:06.800 Now that he starts breathing and doesn't not breathe for 20 seconds, I come around and 00:17:06.800 --> 00:17:09.840 say, hey, you've been breathing for the last 20 seconds. 00:17:09.840 --> 00:17:13.080 Because you've been breathing for the last 20 seconds, I have the legal right to do you 00:17:13.080 --> 00:17:14.080 harm. 00:17:15.640 --> 00:17:18.880 Because you've been breathing for the last 20 seconds, and it's God's law that you're 00:17:18.880 --> 00:17:23.360 not supposed to breathe for the last 20 seconds, God is going to punish you. 00:17:23.360 --> 00:17:27.400 Because you've been breathing for the last 20 seconds, God is not happy with you. 00:17:27.400 --> 00:17:30.420 Because you've been breathing for the last 20 seconds, you will now have to make sure 00:17:30.420 --> 00:17:34.920 you don't breathe for 40 seconds so that you can make up for the sin you committed. 00:17:34.920 --> 00:17:39.440 Because you have not breathed, you are no longer qualified to stand there and breathe. 00:17:39.440 --> 00:17:42.680 Because you breathe for the last 20 seconds, you need to read the Bible a little more, 00:17:42.680 --> 00:17:44.380 sing a few more songs. 00:17:44.380 --> 00:17:48.340 Because you breathe for the last 20 seconds, show me that you're actually repentant. 00:17:48.340 --> 00:17:50.200 How do you show it, man? 00:17:50.200 --> everything that God has specified to the T before you can say, oh, God, use me again. 00:18:04.100 --> 00:18:10.820 We make ourselves so separated from God, so unused of God, so guilt-ridden, so unforgiven, 00:18:10.820 --> 00:18:13.980 till we work our ways back into God's good books. 00:18:13.980 --> 00:18:14.980 Why? 00:18:14.980 --> 00:18:15.980 Because this is our human experience. 00:19:24.740 you away, make you unacceptable, make you unusable. 00:19:24.740 --> 00:19:26.660 He completely lost that power. 00:19:26.660 --> 00:19:30.140 How does he perpetuate it now? 00:19:30.140
