00:00:55.000 --> 00:01:00.000 You get six months free probation. 00:01:00.000 --> 00:01:03.000 Psalm 45, verse 16 and 17, it says, 00:01:03.000 --> 00:01:10.000 Your sons will take the place of your fathers, you will make them princes throughout the land. 00:01:10.000 --> 00:01:16.000 I will perpetuate your memory through all generations, therefore the nations will praise you forever and ever. 00:01:16.000 --> 00:01:27.000 So, the reason we are talking about this on Father's Day is because any father has a desire to see his son perpetuate his name. 00:01:27.000 --> 00:01:28.000 That is the intent. 00:01:28.000 --> 00:01:33.000 Every father has a desire to see his name perpetuated by his son. 00:01:33.000 --> 00:01:41.000 And so every father has a desire that the sons will take the place of their fathers. 00:01:41.000 --> 00:01:45.000 And that they will rule as regents in the land that the father has. 00:01:45.000 --> 00:01:50.000 And this was the intent that the father had in Genesis where he looked at Adam and said, Adam, you're my son. 00:01:50.000 --> 00:01:52.000 He used to call Adam the son of God. 00:01:52.000 --> 00:01:54.000 Luke 3.38 talks about it. 00:01:54.000 --> 00:02:01.000 And then he says that, listen, Adam, you're my son and I want you to be my regent, as in the one who rules on my behalf. 00:02:01.000 --> 00:02:09.000 I want you to perpetuate my name and that is why I made you after my image and likeness so that you take on my kind. 00:02:09.000 --> 00:02:11.000 I trust you. 00:02:11.000 --> 00:02:13.000 That was the intent. 00:02:13.000 --> 00:02:20.000 And so on Father's Day to speak of the Day of the Sons is just perfect because that's what fathers actually desire. 00:02:20.000 --> 00:02:26.000 And when revival awakens any people, God becomes visibly available as father. 00:02:26.000 --> 00:02:34.000 God becomes visibly available as father. 00:02:38.000 --> 00:02:42.000 That's one of the things that becomes evident in any genuine revival. 00:02:42.000 --> 00:02:45.000 God becomes visibly available as a father. 00:02:45.000 --> 00:02:53.000 And he becomes visibly available as a father with his heart, with his nature, with his function, with his approach, with his motivation. 00:02:53.000 --> 00:02:55.000 That becomes most evident. 00:02:55.000 --> 00:03:00.000 The unfortunate thing is though that Satan also functions the same way. 00:03:00.000 --> 00:03:03.000 Jesus called him the father of lies. 00:03:04.000 --> 00:03:15.000 The unfortunate thing is that Satan functions the same way and in Ephesians 2 we see that he is raising children of disobedience who follow the father of lies. 00:03:15.000 --> 00:03:19.000 So fatherhood is not limited to the kingdom. 00:03:19.000 --> 00:03:28.000 Everything in the satanic kingdom, everything in the non-Christ kingdom is a counterfeit of what has been started by the father. 00:03:28.000 --> 00:03:31.000 There's nothing creative that the devil can do. 00:03:32.000 --> 00:03:34.000 He has never invented a single thing. 00:03:34.000 --> 00:03:37.000 He only counterfeits what is good. 00:03:37.000 --> 00:03:40.000 He takes power and makes it domination. 00:03:40.000 --> 00:03:42.000 He takes sex and he makes it lust. 00:03:42.000 --> 00:03:45.000 He takes money and it makes it greed. 00:03:47.000 --> 00:03:52.000 He takes wisdom and makes it earthly knowledge. 00:03:52.000 --> 00:03:56.000 So he can only distort what God has created. 00:03:56.000 --> 00:04:06.000 Because he was aware of who God was, because he has seen God in real before he gets cast out of heaven, the thing is Satan also practices fatherhood. 00:04:06.000 --> 00:04:16.000 Only his fatherhood is fathering orphans and keeping them as orphans while God is a father who receives orphans and changes them into sons and daughters. 00:04:17.000 --> 00:04:22.000 So there is this raising of the children of disobedience who follow the father of lies. 00:04:22.000 --> 00:04:28.000 So when we talk about fatherhood, there are two fathers trying to perpetuate who they are through their sons. 00:04:28.000 --> 00:04:33.000 Only we have a good father who perpetuates his son through us. 00:04:33.000 --> 00:04:38.000 And then there is a father of lies who keeps them as orphans who perpetuates his character. 00:04:43.000 --> 00:04:45.000 So what we're going to talk about today is, okay, 00:04:46.000 --> 00:04:55.000 So now that God is saying, I want my sons to take the place of their fathers, what does it look like for you and I? 00:04:55.000 --> 00:04:59.000 We're not going to look at ourselves as, oh, we are sons. 00:04:59.000 --> 00:05:03.000 We're going to look at, on Father's Day, what would it be if we began to behave like the father? 00:05:06.000 --> 00:05:10.000 On Father's Day, what would it look like if you and I began to behave like fathers? 00:05:10.000 --> 00:05:15.000 And the term fathers and the term sons, just for our knowledge, is gender free. 00:05:15.000 --> 00:05:17.000 It is not limited to male or female. 00:05:17.000 --> 00:05:21.000 So when I say the word father, don't think, ah shucks, I'm a female. 00:05:21.000 --> 00:05:25.000 No, when I say the word sons, don't think, ah shucks, I'm not a guy. 00:05:27.000 --> 00:05:29.000 It's genderless. 00:05:29.000 --> 00:05:35.000 So if we began to think of, okay, so the Father in Heaven, just like he did with Jesus, 00:05:35.000 --> 00:05:43.000 wants us to step into this place where we become fathers to the world, to people, to our family, to the church family, 00:05:43.000 --> 00:05:46.000 so that we can convey what we need to, well then, what does it look like? 00:05:46.000 --> 00:05:56.000 The first thing is, as a father, as a father, your main assignment, as a father is to be a father. 00:05:56.000 --> 00:06:04.000 As a father, your main assignment, as a father, your main assignment is to make, you're good man, thanks so much, 00:06:04.000 --> 00:06:09.000 is to make fathers out of your sons. 00:06:13.000 --> 00:06:15.000 That is so cool, man. 00:06:15.000 --> 00:06:20.000 As a father, your main assignment is to make fathers out of your sons. 00:06:20.000 --> 00:06:26.000 As in, can you make the ones that are in your charge become like him? 00:06:27.000 --> 00:06:29.000 That is your main assignment. 00:06:34.000 --> 00:06:36.000 Our assignment is not to recruit more sons. 00:06:36.000 --> 00:06:44.000 Our assignment is, can I now do what Psalm 45, verse 16 and 17 says, so that you begin to look more like him? 00:06:44.000 --> 00:06:47.000 Our main assignment is to make fathers out of sons. 00:06:47.000 --> 00:07:09.000 Second, as a father, as a father, your children must experience the heavenly father, must experience the heavenly father. 00:07:09.000 --> 00:07:15.000 Father, you can always relax between writings, like just chill out. 00:07:15.000 --> 00:07:18.000 No, not that chill out. 00:07:20.000 --> 00:07:22.000 Give a foot to take a yard nowadays. 00:07:24.000 --> 00:07:34.000 So, as a father, you must experience, as a father, one of your heart's desire is, my children must experience the heavenly father. 00:07:34.000 --> 00:07:41.000 My children must not know or study, but must experience the heavenly father. 00:07:42.000 --> 00:07:45.000 These must be so concrete in your heart, guys. 00:07:46.000 --> 00:07:51.000 The thing is, there's nobody here who cannot operate in this role. 00:07:56.000 --> 00:08:01.000 This must be something you desire, because this is what the father wanted to perpetuate on earth. 00:08:01.000 --> 00:08:07.000 That is why he says, listen, I want you to be conformed to the stature of my son, Jesus Christ, Ephesians 4, 17. 00:08:07.000 --> 00:08:12.000 I want you to be like that. Why? So that then you can go and do what my son did. 00:08:14.000 --> 00:08:22.000 Any questions on that? Any thoughts as in, maybe this isn't really the main thing? How do we go about having our children experience the heavenly father? 00:09:14.000 --> 00:09:21.000 Let me first define sons and children. Anyone who is placed in your charge by God is. 00:09:24.000 --> 00:09:29.000 And it doesn't, it's not age relevant. Anyone. 00:09:31.000 --> 00:09:38.000 And so, you then have to, yeah, we'll talk about it. Further down we'll talk about it. Yeah. 00:09:41.000 --> 00:09:49.000 Guys, the thing is, as a father, the capacity to birth and nurture is inherently present in you. 00:09:50.000 --> 00:09:56.000 The capacity to birth and nurture is inherently present in you. 00:09:56.000 --> 00:10:00.000 Jacob, how can you say that? Guys, we've got to go back to the book of Genesis, chapter one. 00:10:00.000 --> 00:10:04.000 What did he say there? What was his primary intent? Here's what I want you to do. 00:10:04.000 --> 00:10:10.000 I want you to go forth. I want you to multiply. I want you to multiply. I want you to go forth. 00:10:10.000 --> 00:10:15.000 I want you to replenish the earth and I want you to subdue. What was his intent for man right off the bat? 00:10:15.000 --> 00:10:21.000 Listen, I made you like me. I want you to go and fill the earth with more like-me's. 00:10:23.000 --> 00:10:29.000 It is inherent in human beings to multiply after his kind and then it gets shattered. 00:10:29.000 --> 00:10:33.000 And another father comes in and he begins to multiply after his kind. 00:10:35.000 --> 00:10:43.000 And then comes Jesus and he gets it back, redeems it, restores it and says, alright, plan A is still functioning. 00:10:43.000 --> 00:10:50.000 There is no plan B. Go now and do exactly what I told Adam to do that he messed up. You can start doing it again. 00:10:50.000 --> 00:10:55.000 What is the first step in doing it? Become like my son because my son is like me. 00:10:57.000 --> 00:11:02.000 So we have a visible image of the invisible father and we become like him. 00:11:02.000 --> 00:11:12.000 As we become like him, it is natural, it is inherent in you to begin to help others become what you have now become. 00:11:14.000 --> 00:11:24.000 It is inherent in you. Hey, you can read all the parenting books you want to and then you have that baby and those books are useless. 00:11:24.000 --> 00:11:27.000 You can use them when you run out of Pampers. 00:11:29.000 --> 00:11:33.000 That's the only use because your child is like no other child. 00:11:33.000 --> 00:11:39.000 And then you begin to find out that inherent in you is this ability to take care of the child. 00:11:39.000 --> 00:11:46.000 That you will not sleep, that you will spend crazy money, that you will think crying is music. 00:11:46.000 --> 00:11:56.000 All kinds of things happen and suddenly you realize that inherent in you is the ability to birth and nurture. 00:11:56.000 --> 00:11:59.000 And it must be after, the only catch is it must be after his kind. 00:12:00.000 --> 00:12:07.000 And the world around you will do everything in its power to help the church raise up the children. 00:12:07.000 --> 00:12:12.000 To help the church raise up the children of God after the world's kind. 00:12:16.000 --> 00:12:20.000 All the education, all the entertainment, everything is geared towards one end. 00:12:20.000 --> 00:12:27.000 Can the people in the church raise their children not after his kind but after the world's kind? 00:12:27.000 --> 00:12:30.000 How do they do it? They do it just like Nebuchadnezzar do it. 00:12:30.000 --> 00:12:32.000 Name your child a different name. 00:12:32.000 --> 00:12:36.000 Give your child the deities that King Nebuchadnezzar said before. 00:12:36.000 --> 00:12:39.000 Thousands of young men and only three stood up. 00:12:39.000 --> 00:12:41.000 The rest of them went for it. 00:12:46.000 --> 00:12:47.000 It is inherent in you. 00:12:48.000 --> 00:12:50.000 But this desire must first grow, right? 00:12:53.000 --> 00:12:55.000 This desire must first grow. 00:12:56.000 --> 00:12:58.000 Hey guys, my mum is 81. 00:13:01.000 --> 00:13:03.000 I do my best to father her. 00:13:04.000 --> 00:13:06.000 That sounds like such a weird statement. 00:13:08.000 --> 00:13:13.000 But I'll do everything in my power to help her experience the father. 00:13:13.000 --> 00:13:21.000 I'll do everything in my power to try and interact with her like the father interacts with me and expects me to interact with her. 00:13:21.000 --> 00:13:30.000 At some point in her life she acknowledged that her son could be someone who could help her and tell her what to do. 00:13:31.000 --> 00:13:33.000 And immediately the role changed. 00:13:35.000 --> 00:13:43.000 Whenever I feel snappish, whenever I feel irritated, whenever I want to shout at her for something she's doing that doesn't fit my fancy, 00:13:43.000 --> 00:13:49.000 could be right but I still don't like it, I'll have to go back into this place that doesn't fit my fancy. 00:13:49.000 --> 00:13:56.000 I'll have to go back into this place that, Jacob, yes you are a son but you need to know how to spiritually father even your mother. 00:14:00.000 --> 00:14:06.000 We don't realize how much God desires this for us and through us into other people's lives. 00:14:12.000 --> 00:14:13.000 Any questions? 00:14:19.000 --> 00:14:24.000 Not everybody has a spiritual father that they can model themselves as. 00:14:34.000 --> 00:14:35.000 You mentioned that. 00:14:50.000 --> 00:14:58.000 We are still trying to see if Martin Luther's Reformation 500 years ago is working properly or not and we still haven't gotten there. 00:15:01.000 --> 00:15:04.000 We still are struggling with the just shall live by faith. 00:15:06.000 --> 00:15:10.000 But a hundred years from now what if there's a sufficient groundswell? 00:15:10.000 --> 00:15:13.000 How do you father somebody who has more? 00:15:15.000 --> 00:15:19.000 Because the authority part can come if it comes and when it comes. 00:15:20.000 --> 00:15:25.000 It is a heart that I'm trying to convey so that they can experience the Heavenly Father. 00:15:26.000 --> 00:15:28.000 It's a heart that they can experience the Heavenly Father. 00:15:29.000 --> 00:15:32.000 And it's a heart that they are able to experience the Heavenly Father. 00:15:34.000 --> 00:15:37.000 And it's a heart that they are able to experience the Heavenly Father. 00:15:37.000 --> 00:15:39.000 It is a heart that they can experience the Heavenly Father. 00:15:40.000 --> 00:15:41.000 It is a heart that I must convey. 00:15:42.000 --> 00:15:45.000 My mum has more authority over me because she is my mum. 00:15:46.000 --> 00:15:47.000 She has the right to bless me or curse me. 00:15:48.000 --> 00:15:49.000 Thank God she only blesses me. 00:15:52.000 --> 00:15:56.000 But can I convey what the father wants to her? Absolutely. 00:15:57.000 --> 00:16:00.000 When she is at my place then the authority structures shift. 00:16:01.000 --> 00:16:03.000 But when I'm at her place she is an authority over me. 00:16:03.000 --> 00:16:09.000 There are certain things that she always will have over me because I'm her son. 00:16:10.000 --> 00:16:17.000 So unfortunately because either we got it wrong, taught it wrong, behaved wrong, abused it. 00:16:18.000 --> 00:16:22.000 We think of being fathers in terms of authority. 00:16:23.000 --> 00:16:27.000 And God thinks of it as can you convey the attributes of my life? 00:16:28.000 --> 00:16:30.000 Can you convey what you guys talked about on Saturday? 00:16:34.000 --> 00:16:36.000 The authority part is the easy part. 00:16:37.000 --> 00:16:39.000 Hey Mark, take your mask off. Hey Mark, put your mask on. 00:16:40.000 --> 00:16:41.000 That's the authority part. 00:16:44.000 --> 00:16:46.000 It's the other part that is difficult. 00:16:47.000 --> 00:16:48.000 That is why the authority part is the easiest to choose. 00:16:48.000 --> 00:16:57.000 As a father you must see the value in an individual's destiny and you must also see God's corporate purpose. 00:16:58.000 --> 00:17:04.000 As a father you must see the value of a person's individual destiny. 00:17:05.000 --> 00:17:11.000 As in, okay, so what is the value of a person's individual destiny? 00:17:11.000 --> 00:17:15.000 As a father you must see the value of a person's individual destiny. 00:17:16.000 --> 00:17:20.000 As in, okay, so what is it, oh God, that you have for Rachel? 00:17:21.000 --> 00:17:22.000 What do you, oh God, have for Leah? 00:17:23.000 --> 00:17:25.000 And that's one part of it, an individual destiny. 00:17:26.000 --> 00:17:30.000 And then you take the entire family and say what is their common purpose? 00:17:31.000 --> 00:17:36.000 Because these individual destinies fit into the larger common purpose and it's the same way in the church. 00:17:36.000 --> 00:17:38.000 Suddenly everyone has a full-time job. 00:17:47.000 --> 00:17:50.000 Jacob, this is only for certain people, not for me. 00:17:51.000 --> 00:17:52.000 It is for anyone who belongs to the father. 00:17:53.000 --> 00:17:55.000 Because this is what the father is about. 00:17:56.000 --> 00:17:57.000 The father is continuously thinking like this. 00:17:57.000 --> 00:18:03.000 As a father, discipling and discipline is critical and it has fathering written into the DNA. 00:18:04.000 --> 00:18:10.000 As a father, and this is a tough one, because this is when we decide not to do anything, 00:18:11.000 --> 00:18:13.000 but we have to do something, we have to do something. 00:18:14.000 --> 00:18:15.000 We have to do something. 00:18:16.000 --> 00:18:20.000 And as a father, you have to have discipline and discipline. 00:18:20.000 --> 00:18:22.000 Discipline is part of the fathering DNA. 00:18:23.000 --> 00:18:25.000 Discipline is part of the fathering DNA. 00:18:40.000 --> 00:18:42.000 Jesus talks about it as a father. 00:18:43.000 --> 00:18:44.000 He talks about it as a father. 00:18:44.000 --> 00:18:55.000 Jesus talks about it in Hebrews chapter 12 and this is so critical. 00:18:55.000 --> 00:18:59.000 If you leave this out, you will raise children who cannot be fruitful. 00:18:59.000 --> 00:19:04.000 Leave this out and you will raise children, yes, they will grow up but they will not be fruitful. 00:19:04.000 --> 00:19:10.000 There is no fruitfulness in life without instruction, correction, discipline. 00:19:10.000 --> 00:19:14.000 And it is that the progression is instruction, correction, discipline. 00:19:14.000 --> 00:19:17.000 Some children, you instruct them, they learn. 00:19:17.000 --> 00:19:21.000 Some children don't learn through instruction so you go from instruction to correction. 00:19:21.000 --> 00:19:25.000 And some children don't learn through correction then you go from instruction to discipline. 00:19:25.000 --> 00:19:28.000 And God follows that pathway, He invented it. 00:19:28.000 --> 00:19:31.000 What does He do first with Cain? 00:19:31.000 --> 00:19:33.000 He knows where Cain is heading. 00:19:33.000 --> 00:19:34.000 What does He go and tell Cain? 00:19:34.000 --> 00:19:35.000 What does He go and tell Cain? 00:19:35.000 --> 00:19:39.000 Hey Cain, be careful, sin crouches at your door and is wanting to master you. 00:19:39.000 --> 00:19:46.000 Instruction, correction, discipline and why, why? 00:19:46.000 --> 00:19:49.000 For two reasons, one, so that I be fruitful. 00:19:49.000 --> 00:19:59.000 So fathers that avoid discipling and discipline through instruction, correction and discipline 00:19:59.000 --> 00:20:03.000 are fathers who will have sons that are grown up but you are doing them a disservice 00:20:03.000 --> 00:20:06.000 because they will never be fruitful. 00:20:06.000 --> 00:20:13.000 I don't know anything about gardening but I believe if you don't prune, they don't prune. 00:20:13.000 --> 00:20:16.000 They don't produce prunes. 00:20:16.000 --> 00:20:19.000 Yeah. 00:20:19.000 --> 00:20:21.000 What does a prune look like? 00:20:21.000 --> 00:20:25.000 No, don't point towards me. 00:20:25.000 --> 00:20:27.000 Oh, a plum is a prune? 00:20:27.000 --> 00:20:29.000 A dry plum is a prune. 00:20:29.000 --> 00:20:32.000 My God, I'm learning things today. 00:20:32.000 --> 00:20:42.000 The same thing is all these things I mentioned, Jesus walked this relationship with His father 00:20:42.000 --> 00:20:46.000 and He walked out of the, and He worked out this relationship with His disciples. 00:20:46.000 --> 00:20:49.000 Jesus walked this relationship with His father. 00:20:49.000 --> 00:20:53.000 We think Jesus didn't have any discipling, disciplining instruction. 00:20:53.000 --> 00:20:56.000 Of course He did. 00:20:56.000 --> 00:20:58.000 Hebrews 5 talks about it. 00:20:58.000 --> 00:21:02.000 That He learned obedience through suffering. 00:21:02.000 --> 00:21:04.000 He had to be instructed. 00:21:04.000 --> 00:21:07.000 He wasn't a kid who knew everything, downloaded it. 00:21:07.000 --> 00:21:08.000 He wasn't a robot. 00:21:08.000 --> 00:21:10.000 He wasn't like this digital board. 00:21:10.000 --> 00:21:14.000 He learned things. 00:21:14.000 --> 00:21:23.000 So Jesus walked in this relationship with His father and then worked out this relationship with disciples 00:21:23.000 --> 00:21:25.000 as must you. 00:21:25.000 --> 00:21:26.000 We learn from the Father. 00:21:26.000 --> 00:21:31.000 We then work it out with the people that we are placed with. 00:21:36.000 --> 00:21:37.000 What a cool thing, man. 00:21:37.000 --> 00:21:39.000 Everyone here has a full-time job. 00:21:43.000 --> 00:21:48.000 And once you take on this full-time job, you won't want too much because it's a, 00:21:48.000 --> 00:21:53.000 ask any parent here and they'll tell you how painful and long it is. 00:21:53.000 --> 00:21:57.000 They don't leave your home till they are, I left home when I was 28. 00:22:03.000 --> 00:22:04.000 Pardon? 00:22:05.000 --> 00:22:06.000 Yeah. 00:22:12.000 --> 00:22:13.000 Yeah. 00:22:14.000 --> 00:22:19.000 But the intent is that the sons begin to perpetuate who the Father is. 00:22:23.000 --> 00:22:27.000 Here's a cool thing about pastoring versus fathering. 00:22:27.000 --> 00:22:29.000 And I'm not talking about me. 00:22:29.000 --> 00:22:34.000 I'm talking about us thinking of, oh, my job is to pastor others or to shepherd others. 00:22:34.000 --> 00:22:37.000 Guys, fathering only produces remnants.
