00:00:00.000 --> 00:00:14.000
Questioner 1 – Father, during worship you prompted me with the word new and we sang along

00:00:14.000 --> 00:00:20.240
those lines, Father. Father, I pray for newness in this church, not in a way that's been said

00:00:20.240 --> 00:00:26.200
before, not in a way that we've experienced before, not in a cliché sort of manner, Father,

00:00:26.200 --> 00:00:31.480
but in a truly, in a way that we've never experienced before, Father. So I pray for

00:00:31.480 --> 00:00:37.840
new miracles, new stories, new testimonies and new relationships in this church to be

00:00:37.840 --> 00:00:44.480
formed, Father. I pray that people that we wouldn't have thought of will come forth,

00:00:44.480 --> 00:00:51.360
will come front and do things that you ask them to do, Father. I pray for new connections

00:00:51.360 --> 00:01:03.720
in this city. And I pray, Father, that you will start things new within us first and

00:01:03.720 --> 00:01:08.900
in this church, Father. And I pray that people will walk into this church and see those things

00:01:08.900 --> 00:01:15.320
and experience you in a completely different way, Father. So we pray for that in this church,

00:01:15.320 --> 00:01:18.120
Father. In your precious name we ask and pray. Amen.

00:01:19.120 --> 00:01:22.120
New ways of knowing God and then showing God.

00:01:26.120 --> 00:01:33.120
It's Sarah's birthday also. It's tomorrow, so happy birthday, Sarah. Sarah is Chris's

00:01:33.120 --> 00:01:41.120
wife, there she is. Chris said you're turning 35 too, so happy 35th.

00:01:41.120 --> 00:01:52.120
Okay guys, so last week Derek was talking about a type of person that we should become.

00:01:52.120 --> 00:01:59.120
And so I picked on the same title. We were talking about how there's always a city within

00:01:59.120 --> 00:02:07.120
a city. That God sees his people as a city within a city. And that the people that he

00:02:07.120 --> 00:02:12.120
is raising have to be a certain type. And what's the best way to describe that type?

00:02:12.120 --> 00:02:20.120
It should be a type of his spirit. If you want to see typology, why not look at the

00:02:20.120 --> 00:02:26.120
spirit of God and recognize that how the spirit of God is, so the people of the spirit should

00:02:26.120 --> 00:02:33.120
be. How the spirit of God is, so the people of the spirit should be. How the spirit of

00:02:33.120 --> 00:02:56.120
God is, is how the people of God should be. And so we look at how he, as in the spirit,

00:02:56.120 --> 00:03:07.120
is. So to begin with, you can't even enter in if, because life in the spirit, life in

00:03:07.120 --> 00:03:21.120
the Holy Spirit, life in the Holy Spirit is letting go, is letting go of a dead life that

00:03:21.120 --> 00:03:32.120
no longer works. Paul spent chapters writing on this. Paul thinks that the life that we

00:03:32.120 --> 00:03:38.120
used to live is actually a dead life. Paul thinks that the life we used to live is actually

00:03:38.120 --> 00:03:45.120
a dead life, as in it's got nothing of value to it. It's off the flesh. And he says everything

00:03:45.120 --> 00:03:51.120
of the flesh decays. Anything that you attempt from your reasoning, your logic, your ability,

00:03:51.120 --> 00:04:01.120
your prowess or power decays. It's not worth much. And so one of the ways you can enter

00:04:01.120 --> 00:04:06.120
into the life of the spirit is by letting go of everything that you and I have gotten

00:04:06.120 --> 00:04:14.120
so accustomed to doing by sheer brain power, physical strength, a few extraordinary or

00:04:14.120 --> 00:04:22.120
ordinary skills. That's the first thing we have to do. And that is the most difficult

00:04:22.120 --> 00:04:27.120
part because we are so accustomed to working things out our way. Because if you want to

00:04:27.120 --> 00:04:33.120
experience the life of the spirit, what do you mean by experience the life of the spirit?

00:04:33.120 --> 00:04:37.120
How do we experience the life of the spirit? You've got to begin to intuitively think like

00:04:37.120 --> 00:04:56.120
him. You have to expect things of him. You have to begin to behave like him. And you

00:04:56.120 --> 00:05:05.120
have to do the works or expect to do the works he does. And so the question is, is this how

00:05:05.120 --> 00:05:17.120
you think? Crazy, eh? So in your workplace, at home, in church, is this how you think?

00:05:17.120 --> 00:05:24.120
Do you intuitively think like the spirit of God? And so growth and maturity in one sense

00:05:24.120 --> 00:05:31.120
is measured in terms of how you think. Do you think like God? Crazy. What a high bar,

00:05:31.120 --> 00:05:40.120
eh? Do you think like God? But what an attainable bar do you think like God? Second, do you

00:05:40.120 --> 00:05:51.120
expect things of him? Is there this unquenchable expectation of God because he is good and

00:05:51.120 --> 00:06:00.120
he is a father? Third, do you behave like the Holy Spirit? I mean the very fact that

00:06:00.120 --> 00:06:07.120
he is Holy Spirit requires clean hands and pure heart, but do you behave like him? Do you behave like

00:06:07.120 --> 00:06:18.120
him? How do you behave like him? All you have to do is think about the fruit of the spirit. Patience.

00:06:18.120 --> 00:06:27.120
Joy. Love. Peace. Are they increasing? And the last one is, do you do the works of the spirit?

00:06:27.120 --> 00:06:35.120
And Paul spent pages and pages trying to explain this. Almost every letter he wrote was, hey, can you

00:06:35.120 --> 00:06:40.120
leave this way of functioning and can you enter into this way of functioning? So the first thing that

00:06:40.120 --> 00:06:46.120
has to happen if we have to become increasingly a people of the spirit or people that are a type of

00:06:46.120 --> 00:06:51.120
the spirit, first thing is to let go of a dead life that no longer works. The reason we hold on to the

00:06:51.120 --> 00:06:59.120
life we have is because we think it works. Because we think it works. Because we think that how we

00:06:59.120 --> 00:07:05.120
think is making things work out well. It's making things work out like anybody else. There's nothing

00:07:05.120 --> 00:07:10.120
distinctive about us when we begin to work things out the way everybody does. There's nothing

00:07:10.120 --> 00:07:19.120
distinctive. What was so special about Jesus? He did not think like normal people, yet he was very

00:07:19.120 --> 00:07:31.120
normal when he walked here on earth. I mean all these things fit Jesus to a T. He intuitively began

00:07:31.120 --> 00:07:41.120
to think like God. He would expect things of God. He would behave like God and he would do the works

00:07:41.120 --> 00:07:47.120
that God does. So much so that people would say, this must be the Messiah because he does what the

00:07:47.120 --> 00:07:58.120
Old Testament said the Messiah would come and do. And to increase in this. That's what makes us

00:07:58.120 --> 00:08:05.120
different and that's what will attract people. People do not want the same. People want different.

00:08:05.120 --> 00:08:13.120
When they're different is God. That different is like no other different. That's transcendent different.

00:08:17.120 --> 00:08:31.120
And to settle for anything less is so reasonable and normal. And always remember reason and normality

00:08:31.120 --> 00:08:35.120
can talk us out of spirit encounters.

00:08:35.120 --> 00:08:54.120
I wrote reasonable here so if you erase the reasonable then reason and normality can talk us out of spirit

00:08:54.120 --> 00:09:04.120
encounters. And that happens too. There were so many people in the New Testament and the Old Testament

00:09:04.120 --> 00:09:11.120
who God wanted to do things with but their reason kicked in and what was normal kicked in and so they would not

00:09:11.120 --> 00:09:18.120
be able to engage in an encounter with God because God does operate beyond reason and normality.

00:09:18.120 --> 00:09:28.120
With Christians what happens is we start looking for God through provisions that come through people

00:09:28.120 --> 00:09:41.120
instead of looking straight to God. And reason and normality kick in. So if this is your life then it's not very attractive.

00:09:41.120 --> 00:09:51.120
That's the thing. If this is your life then it's not very attractive. Why would I want your life when I have the same life?

00:09:51.120 --> 00:10:01.120
But if Christ is in me then surely there must be something that's distinct about us.

00:10:01.120 --> 00:10:13.120
Any questions?

00:10:13.120 --> 00:10:23.120
Okay so you're all in agreement. Well then let's start conspiring with God. To conspire is to make plans with God.

00:10:23.120 --> 00:10:48.120
To make plans with God where everything now stems from having conversations with him that influence our decision.

00:10:48.120 --> 00:11:01.120
What do we fight? We fight what is normal. We fight what is reason or rational. We fight what is logical.

00:11:01.120 --> 00:11:13.120
So Jacob should we not give credence to this? Not first. Always. Second or third.

00:11:13.120 --> 00:11:30.120
Any questions on that? So here's what I'm saying. I'm saying it is impossible to show God if one chooses to function in any area of your life

00:11:30.120 --> 00:11:41.120
with what is normal, with what is reason, with what is rational, with what is logical. There is a place for it but it's a far second or third.

00:11:41.120 --> 00:11:52.120
There's a scripture about King Asa in First Chronicles and here's what it says. Asa, God was upset with Asa not because he went to the physicians

00:11:52.120 --> 00:12:00.120
because God crafted doctors, crafted physicians, has the medical system so that we can take advantage of it.

00:12:00.120 --> 00:12:07.120
But the scriptures say God was upset with Asa not because he went to the physicians but because he did not turn to God first.

00:12:07.120 --> 00:12:17.120
There is this first resort that must be God and that is when reason, rational, logic kicks in.

00:12:17.120 --> 00:12:33.120
That can't be. And it doesn't matter which area it is. Every area must have normality, reason and logic as far secondary or far tertiary

00:12:33.120 --> 00:12:39.120
to the primary resource called God. Any questions on that?

00:12:39.120 --> 00:12:43.120
How about familiar?

00:12:43.120 --> 00:12:51.120
Familiar. Another great point to add. We are so used to what is familiar that to break out of that into unfamiliarity is so difficult.

00:12:51.120 --> 00:13:02.120
There's almost no progress in our lives if our lives don't touch what is unfamiliar. It's the principle of a seed.

00:13:02.120 --> 00:13:07.120
A seed, as long as you hold it in your hand or leave it on a shelf, will remain a seed.

00:13:07.120 --> 00:13:15.120
But it has to come into contact with something unfamiliar like the soil and as soon as it comes in contact with the soil, the seed begins to spring.

00:13:15.120 --> 00:13:26.120
Unfamiliarity is what strips the sheet off you so that what is inside begins to germinate. Until we do that, it's impossible.

00:13:26.120 --> 00:13:31.120
And God is a God who will continuously bring us into unfamiliar places.

00:13:31.120 --> 00:13:38.120
I sent a small excerpt from My Atmos for His Highest to Jonathan and in it it says,

00:13:38.120 --> 00:13:52.120
If you insist on being mowed or tied to the dock and refuse to let yourself go on the wide ocean of God's love and adventure,

00:13:52.120 --> 00:14:02.120
God will send a storm so that you are unhooked from the dock and set afloat on His wide ocean so that you can experience Him afresh.

00:14:09.120 --> 00:14:19.120
So every time God pushes you into the unfamiliar, take it. Because if you don't, because He really cares for you, He will.

00:14:19.120 --> 00:14:27.120
You would do that with your kid, right? How do you teach your kid to swim? Don't throw him in. That's a bad dad.

00:14:27.120 --> 00:14:35.120
Take him slowly into the water. Take him deeper in. But each step takes him deeper in, right?

00:14:35.120 --> 00:14:42.120
Yeah. And if you do throw your kid into the deep end, make sure you know how to swim.

00:14:42.120 --> 00:14:46.120
But don't. It's not a good idea.

00:14:46.120 --> 00:15:03.120
So the easiest pathway, the easiest pathway into the adventures of God, into the adventure of God, into the adventure of the Spirit,

00:15:03.120 --> 00:15:20.120
is obedience. And with obedience, He lets you rest or abide. It's His favorite thing to do, eh?

00:15:20.120 --> 00:15:26.120
The easiest pathway into adventures of the Spirit is obedience. What does that mean?

00:15:26.120 --> 00:15:36.120
When He says something to say, I don't have the faith to trust you. I don't have the scriptures to quote.

00:15:36.120 --> 00:15:42.120
I don't have too many friends to help me. But because you said it, I will do it. And you obey.

00:15:42.120 --> 00:15:49.120
Not too concerned about the outcome. But when obedience kicks in, rest happens.

00:15:49.120 --> 00:15:57.120
And when rest happens, as in rest where you dwell, where you abide, where you rest, where you're not striving, where you're not trying to manipulate,

00:15:57.120 --> 00:16:09.120
where there are no machinations, where there is no sweat, where there's no self-effort or striving, you come into this place of rest and God goes to work.

00:16:09.120 --> 00:16:15.120
When we were in St. Martin's and things were not happening, I would start thinking, what should I do next? Maybe I should call this guy.

00:16:15.120 --> 00:16:20.120
And Jeremy's dad would say to me, Jacob, you teach on rest. Just chill.

00:16:20.120 --> 00:16:29.120
And then things begin to happen. Any questions on that? The easiest pathway into the adventure of the Spirit is obedience.

00:16:29.120 --> 00:16:52.120
Let's make a second. What I meant is that everything else should be second or third, a far second or third.

00:16:52.120 --> 00:17:02.120
Like there should be no contest. Yeah. Any other questions?

00:17:02.120 --> 00:17:09.120
OK, so let's look at the Holy Spirit then. He's not a what, he's a who.

00:17:09.120 --> 00:17:16.120
And so here are some things that we need to know about him. One, he's got many responsibilities.

00:17:16.120 --> 00:17:26.120
But one of his greatest pleasures is teaching us how to rest or abide.

00:17:26.120 --> 00:17:33.120
He's the Holy Spirit is 101 other responsibilities here on earth. He's God working here on earth.

00:17:33.120 --> 00:17:41.120
He's got a hundred other things to do. But one of his favorite things to do is to bring us into what's happening here, Brandon.

00:17:42.120 --> 00:17:50.120
Is to bring us into this. Can someone fix that, please? Is to bring us into a place of rest.

00:17:50.120 --> 00:17:57.120
John 15, worth four and five. John 15, worth four and five.

00:17:57.120 --> 00:18:16.120
John 15, worth four and five.

00:18:16.120 --> 00:18:23.120
Here's what it says. Remain in me as I also remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself.

00:18:23.120 --> 00:18:29.120
It must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me. I'm the vine, you're the branches.

00:18:29.120 --> 00:18:36.120
If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit. Apart from me, you can do nothing.

00:18:36.120 --> 00:18:44.120
If you do not remain in me, you're like a branch that is thrown away and withers. Why does he keep using this word? Remain in me, remain in me.

00:18:44.120 --> 00:18:51.120
Another word is to dwell in me, to dwell in me. Another word is to abide in me, to abide in me. Another word is to rest in me, to rest in me.

00:18:51.120 --> 00:18:56.120
What's the point? The point is this, that one of the things that the Holy Spirit most enjoys across this room is,

00:18:56.120 --> 00:19:03.120
hey, can I teach you to just come and rest? You obey, I'll take care of it.

00:19:05.120 --> 00:19:12.120
And what do we obey? We obey two things. We obey the Logos, which is the word, and we obey Rehman, which is something that God specifically says to you.

00:19:12.120 --> 00:19:18.120
Either through the word or through someone else, specifically tells you this is what you're supposed to do.

00:19:18.120 --> 00:19:30.120
And once you do that, you're not supposed to do anything else, but just for the, I mean, if Jesus was talking to one of these younger kids, he said, no, he wouldn't say that.

00:19:30.120 --> 00:19:37.120
He would say that to me. What's the word, Gen Z word for chill? It's still chill? Okay.

00:19:37.120 --> 00:19:46.120
So Jesus would just say, man, suddenly I feel like I'm young. We used to use the word chill too.

00:19:46.120 --> 00:19:59.120
So it's this idea of just chill, obey and chill. It's the hardest thing to do, guys. It's the church's biggest struggle.

00:19:59.120 --> 00:20:02.120
So Christianity's biggest struggle is chill.

00:20:08.120 --> 00:20:12.120
And expect God to make things work. Why? Because that's exactly what children are like.

00:20:12.120 --> 00:20:17.120
Children know that if their parents say something, they don't need to worry about it.

00:20:17.120 --> 00:20:46.120
He loves disciplining us. God, the Holy Spirit loves disciplining us, not as in disciplining, as in beating us up, disciplining us as in instructing, training, training us to stay, dwell, rest, abide, remain.

00:20:46.120 --> 00:20:50.120
Chill.

00:20:54.120 --> 00:20:59.120
Relax. Yeah, I take relax too.

00:21:02.120 --> 00:21:04.120
He loves doing this.

00:21:05.120 --> 00:21:09.120
I've been working with this sentence for the last little while and it's tough.

00:21:09.120 --> 00:21:33.120
It's tough if I knew how much God, if I knew how much God wants to touch me, speak to me, want to be with me.

00:21:33.120 --> 00:21:39.120
I would never doubt him again.

00:21:39.120 --> 00:21:41.120
I would never doubt him again.

00:21:41.120 --> 00:22:07.120
I mean, if I knew the intensity of his heart, if I knew the intensity of his heart for me, the way I live would be changed.

00:22:11.120 --> 00:22:17.120
I've been mulling over this sentence, going over it again and again in my head.

00:22:17.120 --> 00:22:28.120
If I knew how much God wants to touch me, as in here we are in a church singing and we hope he'll turn up, he'll touch our hearts, touch our minds, do some internal work.

00:22:28.120 --> 00:22:38.120
If I knew how much God wants to do that, if I knew how much God wants to speak to me, if I knew how much God wants to be with me, I would never doubt this again.

00:22:38.120 --> 00:22:46.120
I had to play with that continuously, that this is his desire, it is not my struggle.

00:22:46.120 --> 00:22:50.120
None of your children as they're growing up struggle in this area.

00:22:50.120 --> 00:22:52.120
It is you who want to touch them.

00:22:52.120 --> 00:22:54.120
It is you who want to speak to them.

00:22:54.120 --> 00:22:58.120
It's you who wants to be with them.

00:22:58.120 --> 00:23:00.120
They don't struggle.

00:23:01.120 --> 00:23:11.120
And I'm literally turning it in my head, driving, walking, flying, turning it in my head saying, Oh God, really, you want to be with me?

00:23:11.120 --> 00:23:14.120
And there's an intensity in your heart towards that.

00:23:14.120 --> 00:23:15.120
You want to speak to me?

00:23:15.120 --> 00:23:18.120
It's not like I got to fast and pray to listen to you.

00:23:18.120 --> 00:23:26.120
You want to touch my heart and really have me know your presence?

00:23:26.120 --> 00:23:36.120
The only reason we are sometimes not aware is one, because we don't know this, two, because we are so busy that we need to take breaks to recognize it.

00:23:36.120 --> 00:23:48.120
But the intensity of his heart towards me, it's so powerful that if I actually saw it, my life would change.

00:23:48.120 --> 00:23:50.120
Any questions on that?

00:23:50.120 --> 00:23:54.120
These are simple truths, but they are revolutionary.

00:23:57.120 --> 00:24:04.120
Right now, as we are talking, he wants to be with us.

00:24:04.120 --> 00:24:11.120
One of the things that happens sometimes because of pastors like Tuni and me is we keep saying, surrender, surrender, the Lord wants to be with us.

00:24:11.120 --> 00:24:14.120
And so we think it is us that needs to do this.

00:24:14.120 --> 00:24:17.120
Yes, the intent is to encourage that we surrender ourselves.

00:24:17.120 --> 00:24:19.120
So I'm not saying Tuni and I should back off from that.

00:24:19.120 --> 00:24:20.120
But the point is not that.

00:24:20.120 --> 00:24:23.120
The point is that he wants to.

00:24:26.120 --> 00:24:27.120
He wants to be.

00:24:27.120 --> 00:24:29.120
He wants to speak.

00:24:29.120 --> 00:24:30.120
Here's the crazy thing.

00:24:30.120 --> 00:24:34.120
We worry about, oh, I don't know how God talks, right?

00:24:34.120 --> 00:24:37.120
Start with, he wants to.

00:24:37.120 --> 00:24:39.120
Get past that.

00:24:39.120 --> 00:24:43.120
That itself is such a big mental block, it can be sometimes demonic.

00:24:47.120 --> 00:24:49.120
What's a demonic mental block?

00:24:49.120 --> 00:24:58.120
A demonic mental block is a thought process that has built a fortress in your head that refuses to believe what God says about you or what God says he wants to do.

00:25:08.120 --> 00:25:10.120
How do you break blocks like that?

00:25:10.120 --> 00:25:14.120
Imagine a room full of cardboard boxes.

00:25:14.120 --> 00:25:17.120
There's a little creepy crawly snake in there.

00:25:17.120 --> 00:25:19.120
How do you catch the snake?

00:25:19.120 --> 00:25:23.120
Remove the boxes.

00:25:23.120 --> 00:25:29.120
Those boxes have been put there over a period of time.

00:25:29.120 --> 00:25:31.120
Snakes found its way in.

00:25:31.120 --> 00:25:35.120
You can't get the snake till you remove the boxes.

00:25:35.120 --> 00:25:40.120
And just as you brought them into the room, now begin to take them out.

00:25:40.120 --> 00:25:46.120
Strongholds are broken a brick at a time because they were built a brick at a time and God really helps you.

00:25:49.120 --> 00:25:53.120
God will push you into places that you're not equipped for.

00:25:53.120 --> 00:26:00.120
God will push you into places you're not equipped for.

00:26:03.120 --> 00:26:06.120
These are things that are going to happen to us.

00:26:06.120 --> 00:26:07.120
We will make mistakes.

00:26:07.120 --> 00:26:09.120
Don't be afraid of mistakes.

00:26:09.120 --> 00:26:12.120
God will push you into places where you're not equipped to be.

00:26:12.120 --> 00:26:21.120
If you want to survive and then if you want to flourish, you have but one choice.

00:26:21.120 --> 00:26:35.120
One choice, which is again, seek God in a place or from a place of rest.

00:26:35.120 --> 00:26:46.120
This church, the one thing this church needs most, starting with me down to the smallest, the one thing this church needs most is to carve out time.

00:26:46.120 --> 00:26:54.120
For what lies ahead of us, if we do not find time to do this, we will have to fake it.

00:26:57.120 --> 00:27:02.120
Faking it isn't fun because at some point you realize, man, this sucks.

00:27:05.120 --> 00:27:14.120
There's no other way to meet the future than for each person here to begin to carve out time.

00:27:16.120 --> 00:27:29.120
And anybody who seeks to carve out time in the middle of them getting married, in the middle of a thesis, in the middle of them going into new ventures, it doesn't matter.

00:27:29.120 --> 00:27:35.120
In the middle of his credits that he has to take at Regent, it doesn't matter.

00:27:35.120 --> 00:27:41.120
The moment you desire to carve out time, God will create it.

00:27:45.120 --> 00:27:48.120
If this church doesn't do it, we'll have to fake it because it'll be too difficult.

00:27:48.120 --> 00:27:50.120
Any questions on that?

00:27:50.120 --> 00:27:54.120
Because we're going to get pushed into places that we are not equipped for.

00:27:54.120 --> 00:28:00.120
And to survive or flourish there, the choice is only one thing, seek God from a place of rest.

00:28:04.120 --> 00:28:06.120
Any questions?

00:28:12.120 --> 00:28:21.120
If I'm going somewhere on a, he asked if I can give examples from my life, if I'm going somewhere on a mission like Indonesia or St. Martin's or India, if I'm going for a Sunday service like today,

00:28:21.120 --> 00:28:24.120
the only thing I'm concerned about is not my teaching or preaching.

00:28:24.120 --> 00:28:25.120
I can do this quite well.

00:28:25.120 --> 00:28:27.120
I've been doing it for 35 years.

00:28:27.120 --> 00:28:28.120
This is the easy part.

00:28:28.120 --> 00:28:36.120
The hard part is knowing who God is, what he wants and what he wants for each of us here today, individually and corporately.

00:28:36.120 --> 00:28:39.120
And for that, there's only one way around it.

00:28:39.120 --> 00:28:45.120
Find time, sit, talk, converse, sometimes do nothing.

00:28:45.120 --> 00:28:48.120
I don't know why we have such a struggle doing nothing.

00:28:48.120 --> 00:28:50.120
Most husbands and wives do nothing.

00:28:50.120 --> 00:28:53.120
And they sit together in a room.

00:28:56.120 --> 00:29:00.120
It's okay doing nothing because doing nothing will lead to doing something.

00:29:00.120 --> 00:29:12.120
But to have the ability to do nothing but sit with an invisible person who creates the entire universe and who is there, all I have to be aware is that he is there.

00:29:12.120 --> 00:29:14.120
What did I start this morning off?

00:29:15.120 --> 00:29:21.120
The first thing I said to myself this morning was simply the sentence, God saying to me, I'm right here.

00:29:21.120 --> 00:29:22.120
I haven't gone anywhere.

00:29:23.120 --> 00:29:25.120
That starts my day off.

00:29:25.120 --> 00:29:35.120
And if that means doing nothing but aware that he is here, that he is closer than a brother, then so be it.

00:29:35.120 --> 00:29:37.120
If that leads to anything, so be it.

00:29:37.120 --> 00:29:43.120
Two days ago, it was an old Jimmy Swaggart song from 1984 before most of you were born.

00:29:43.120 --> 00:29:47.120
I couldn't even remember the words, so I had to Google it and sing it to him.

00:29:47.120 --> 00:29:49.120
Sweet, sweet anointing.

00:29:55.120 --> 00:29:57.120
Everything then comes out of it.

00:29:57.120 --> 00:29:58.120
Why?

00:29:58.120 --> 00:30:01.120
Because John 15, verse 4 and 5 says it very clearly.

00:30:01.120 --> 00:30:03.120
I am the wine, you're the branches.

00:30:03.120 --> 00:30:05.120
Apart from me, you can do nothing.

00:30:05.120 --> 00:30:07.120
Remain in me and you will be fruitful.

00:30:07.120 --> 00:30:09.120
Separate from me, you will not be fruitful.

00:30:09.120 --> 00:30:10.120
Period.

00:30:11.120 --> 00:30:12.120
Duh.

00:30:27.120 --> 00:30:30.120
God hasn't called us to do the reasonable.

00:30:30.120 --> 00:30:33.120
He hasn't called us to do the possible.

00:30:33.120 --> 00:30:35.120
He hasn't called us to do the attainable.

00:30:37.120 --> 00:30:42.120
Please understand that he has only called us to do the outrageously impossible.

00:30:49.120 --> 00:30:50.120
Please understand this.

00:30:59.120 --> 00:31:01.120
My God, who doesn't want to serve a God like this?

00:31:03.120 --> 00:31:11.120
A few other things about the Holy Spirit.

00:31:11.120 --> 00:31:27.120
He is amazingly exuberant, enthusiastic, humorous.

00:31:27.120 --> 00:31:37.120
And he has a pining or a deep desire for relational joy.

00:31:37.120 --> 00:31:39.120
As usual, we won't get through this teaching.

00:31:41.120 --> 00:31:45.120
He is amazingly exuberant.

00:31:45.120 --> 00:31:47.120
Remember who this is.

00:31:47.120 --> 00:31:49.120
This is the Spirit of God.

00:31:49.120 --> 00:31:53.120
He is the one present here on earth, which means God is like this too.

00:31:53.120 --> 00:31:55.120
But you need to see him as amazingly exuberant.

00:31:55.120 --> 00:31:59.120
Have you seen children who drink water and then start giggling and jumping?

00:31:59.120 --> 00:32:01.120
No?

00:32:01.120 --> 00:32:03.120
Okay.

00:32:03.120 --> 00:32:05.120
I'm sure you've seen it.

00:32:05.120 --> 00:32:07.120
I can't imagine Judah not doing that.

00:32:07.120 --> 00:32:13.120
Exuberance is something where it goes glug, glug, glug here and glug, glug, glug here.

00:32:13.120 --> 00:32:15.120
And they're laughing and they're giggling.

00:32:15.120 --> 00:32:17.120
That's what exuberance is.

00:32:17.120 --> 00:32:21.120
It's something that goes glug, glug, glug here and glug, glug, glug here.

00:32:21.120 --> 00:32:23.120
They're laughing and they're giggling.

00:32:23.120 --> 00:32:25.120
That's what exuberance looks like.

00:32:25.120 --> 00:32:27.120
Now you might think, Jacob, you can't take that and impose it on God.

00:32:27.120 --> 00:32:29.120
I'm not imposing it on God.

00:32:29.120 --> 00:32:31.120
But you need and I need to realize.

00:32:31.120 --> 00:32:35.120
And if this breaks your bubble, so be it because bubbles must be broken.

00:32:35.120 --> 00:32:39.120
Our God is the most joyful being in the universe.

00:32:39.120 --> 00:32:47.120
And so to be a type of him as a people requires that we be amazingly...

00:32:47.120 --> 00:32:51.120
I'm not saying you've got to go around with a plastic smile on your face,

00:32:51.120 --> 00:32:55.120
but he is exuberant, he's enthusiastic, he's humorous.

00:32:55.120 --> 00:33:05.120
Any good joke you have, if you thought that came from you, he is very humorous.

00:33:05.120 --> 00:33:07.120
He made Jonathan, he made Tooney.

00:33:07.120 --> 00:33:15.120
Can't get worse than that.

00:33:15.120 --> 00:33:19.120
So the point being, and he pines for relational joy.

00:33:19.120 --> 00:33:22.120
There's a pining, there's a yearning for relational joy.

00:33:22.120 --> 00:33:24.120
What does that mean?

00:33:24.120 --> 00:33:28.120
You know, there are some lovers or some husbands and wives who would love to come home

00:33:28.120 --> 00:33:39.120
because they look forward to their spouse and they look forward to laughing with their spouse.

00:33:39.120 --> 00:33:43.120
When Kamala and Ann were young, that's what would happen.

00:33:43.120 --> 00:33:47.120
Ann would look forward to coming home because Kamala would have another bad joke

00:33:47.120 --> 00:33:50.120
and she then burst out laughing.

00:33:50.120 --> 00:33:53.120
But there's a pining for relational joy.

00:33:53.120 --> 00:34:01.120
I'm trying to put a human face on it, but in the process I might lose some of the godness that God has.

00:34:01.120 --> 00:34:04.120
But you need to understand, he loves relational joy.

00:34:04.120 --> 00:34:10.120
And relational joy can only come through conversations, audible and inaudible.

00:34:10.120 --> 00:34:17.120
If this is not where you are, it's completely okay because that's where we should go.

00:34:17.120 --> 00:34:23.120
If you don't think of God like this, then it's okay because that's where you can go.

00:34:23.120 --> 00:34:27.120
What do you think it was like in the Garden of Eden?

00:34:27.120 --> 00:34:30.120
God coming and saying, let's open to chapter 3 of Genesis.

00:34:30.120 --> 00:34:35.120
No, it was conversations in the cool of the day.

00:34:35.120 --> 00:34:39.120
The word chill was invented then, in the cool of the day.

00:34:44.120 --> 00:34:46.120
Any questions on this?

00:34:46.120 --> 00:34:49.120
It's important to get this because we don't think like this.

00:34:49.120 --> 00:34:54.120
We can only think like this if our relationship with God exists outside prayer.

00:34:54.120 --> 00:34:59.120
If your relationship with God is confined to times of prayer, this is impossible.

00:34:59.120 --> 00:35:05.120
You can only have this if you have a relationship with God outside of times of prayer.

00:35:09.120 --> 00:35:11.120
When do you relate most to your kids?

00:35:11.120 --> 00:35:16.120
When you take them on a trip, when you go for a hockey game, when you're driving aimlessly,

00:35:16.120 --> 00:35:22.120
when you go for KFC and then realize Popeyes is better or whatever.

00:35:24.120 --> 00:35:26.120
That's when you connect with God.

00:35:27.120 --> 00:35:29.120
That's when you connect with your kids.

00:35:32.120 --> 00:35:34.120
Any questions?

00:35:36.120 --> 00:35:40.120
This is so important guys because this is what makes us different.

00:35:41.120 --> 00:35:45.120
Living relationship with the living God who is the Father.

00:35:47.120 --> 00:35:49.120
Any questions?

00:35:49.120 --> 00:35:54.120
Please ask if you have any questions because this is super important.

00:35:56.120 --> 00:36:08.120
If this is new for someone, how would they start?

00:36:08.120 --> 00:36:10.120
If this is new for someone, how would they start?

00:36:10.120 --> 00:36:16.120
The hardest part of this would be to get beyond, oh if I talk like this, God won't be God.

00:36:17.120 --> 00:36:20.120
God never desires to be just God.

00:36:20.120 --> 00:36:24.120
God desires to be God and then God desires to be Father.

00:36:24.120 --> 00:36:27.120
You remove Father from God, you're doing a disservice to God.

00:36:29.120 --> 00:36:32.120
He will be God but he also wants to be Father.

00:36:32.120 --> 00:36:34.120
It is inseparable.

00:36:35.120 --> 00:36:40.120
And so the first part is to get to this place knowing I've got to start conversations like this.

00:36:40.120 --> 00:36:43.120
They don't sound Christian, they don't sound very prayerish.

00:36:43.120 --> 00:36:47.120
They seem to make God like a friend and that's okay.

00:36:48.120 --> 00:36:51.120
I have to get past that and once I get past that,

00:36:51.120 --> 00:36:55.120
then all the reverence, all the awe will come back whenever it needs to come back.

00:36:56.120 --> 00:36:58.120
God is not a single faceted person.

00:36:58.120 --> 00:37:00.120
He is a multi-faceted person.

00:37:00.120 --> 00:37:03.120
He can be the all-sufficient one, he can be the self-existent one,

00:37:03.120 --> 00:37:08.120
he can be the Father, he can be someone who longs for relational joy like a Father does,

00:37:08.120 --> 00:37:12.120
yet he can exist without any of us and be happy with a walnut.

00:37:17.120 --> 00:37:19.120
So he can be all these things at the same time.

00:37:22.120 --> 00:37:24.120
But these conversations must be entered into.

00:37:30.120 --> 00:37:31.120
Cool.

00:37:31.120 --> 00:37:32.120
Yep.

00:37:35.120 --> 00:37:36.120
Sorry.

00:37:38.120 --> 00:37:40.120
See all these funny steps.

00:37:42.120 --> 00:37:43.120
Sorry.

00:37:51.120 --> 00:37:56.120
And he's having conversations with God in a very chilled out way.

00:37:56.120 --> 00:38:03.120
And some of what he tells me makes me wonder what about reverence.

00:38:03.120 --> 00:38:04.120
Yeah.

00:38:04.120 --> 00:38:08.120
So when you begin to decide that you want God on your own terms,

00:38:08.120 --> 00:38:11.120
it's a slightly imbalanced relationship.

00:38:11.120 --> 00:38:14.120
You're the creature, he's a creator,

00:38:14.120 --> 00:38:18.120
and he has ways that he wants to teach you about himself.

00:38:18.120 --> 00:38:22.120
So when one decides not to operate with the words that he's given

00:38:22.120 --> 00:38:24.120
or not to operate with his people,

00:38:24.120 --> 00:38:27.120
they will end up having a skewed version of God,

00:38:27.120 --> 00:38:29.120
which in the end will fail them.

00:38:30.120 --> 00:38:32.120
So even when it comes to worship,

00:38:32.120 --> 00:38:37.120
worship that is not based on truth is actually distorted worship.

00:38:38.120 --> 00:38:41.120
Because we can only worship what we know to be true.

00:38:41.120 --> 00:38:43.120
Where do we get the truth from?

00:38:43.120 --> 00:38:46.120
From the word, from each other, and from the body.

00:38:46.120 --> 00:38:49.120
So whenever a church begins to emphasize only worship,

00:38:49.120 --> 00:38:53.120
add the expense of truth, that church becomes poorer, not richer.

00:38:54.120 --> 00:38:59.120
So with this person, he'll develop a relationship with an imaginary friend

00:38:59.120 --> 00:39:01.120
which I used to have when I was six.

00:39:03.120 --> 00:39:05.120
And so you create your own God.

00:39:05.120 --> 00:39:07.120
And man loves doing that.

00:39:07.120 --> 00:39:08.120
Why do we create idols?

00:39:08.120 --> 00:39:13.120
Why is the Sistine Chapel painted with God and man,

00:39:13.120 --> 00:39:15.120
but God looks like man?

00:39:16.120 --> 00:39:22.120
Because we always like reducing God to a proportion that is handleable.

00:39:23.120 --> 00:39:26.120
So be it in the Sistine Chapel, good old Michelangelo,

00:39:26.120 --> 00:39:28.120
or be it an idol, the intent is,

00:39:28.120 --> 00:39:31.120
can we reduce God to manageable proportions?

00:39:33.120 --> 00:39:35.120
So it doesn't work.

00:39:38.120 --> 00:39:41.120
I'll go to another 10 or 15 minutes.

00:39:43.120 --> 00:39:45.120
The Holy Spirit has emotions.

00:39:45.120 --> 00:39:47.120
What are His emotions?

00:39:47.120 --> 00:39:52.120
There's love, there's compassion, there's peace, there's goodness,

00:39:52.120 --> 00:39:54.120
there's patience, there's mercy.

00:39:54.120 --> 00:39:55.120
These are emotions.

00:39:55.120 --> 00:39:57.120
You cannot be merciful without emotions.

00:39:57.120 --> 00:39:59.120
You cannot show love without emotions.

00:39:59.120 --> 00:40:01.120
You cannot be compassionate without emotions.

00:40:01.120 --> 00:40:03.120
You cannot be good without emotions.

00:40:03.120 --> 00:40:08.120
When emotions are removed from it, you might as well bring out a robot.

00:40:08.120 --> 00:40:10.120
The Holy Spirit has emotions.

00:40:10.120 --> 00:40:13.120
Therefore, it's impossible to have a relationship with the Holy Spirit

00:40:13.120 --> 00:40:19.120
without actually experiencing emotions and feeling the Spirit of God.

00:40:21.120 --> 00:40:26.120
Christianity always is reacting to some distortion in the past.

00:40:26.120 --> 00:40:29.120
So because people started feeling too many things,

00:40:29.120 --> 00:40:33.120
we react and we say, we go by faith, we don't feel anything,

00:40:33.120 --> 00:40:35.120
don't give much credibility to feeling.

00:40:35.120 --> 00:40:37.120
Not true. It's both. It's always both.

00:40:38.120 --> 00:40:44.120
And so during a time of worship or during your conversations with God,

00:40:44.120 --> 00:40:48.120
it should be natural to feel Him.

00:40:52.120 --> 00:40:57.120
To know raw emotion because the Holy Spirit has emotions.

00:40:57.120 --> 00:41:03.120
Romans 5 says that He pours His love into our hearts that come from God.

00:41:03.120 --> 00:41:05.120
How are we even supposed to experience it?

00:41:05.120 --> 00:41:07.120
What was happening in Acts chapter 2?

00:41:07.120 --> 00:41:09.120
That could have been a very sterile operation

00:41:09.120 --> 00:41:11.120
where the Holy Spirit just comes to fill people.

00:41:11.120 --> 00:41:14.120
No, there was speaking, there was laughing, there was crying,

00:41:14.120 --> 00:41:17.120
there was fire, there was sound, there was the sound of a mighty rushing wind.

00:41:17.120 --> 00:41:20.120
Even though there was not wind, it was audio visual.

00:41:20.120 --> 00:41:22.120
God is audio visual.

00:41:25.120 --> 00:41:27.120
Don't sanitize them.

00:41:31.120 --> 00:41:33.120
Any questions on that?

00:41:33.120 --> 00:41:35.120
You see what Christianity has done.

00:41:37.120 --> 00:41:40.120
Domesticated the line of Judah.

00:41:41.120 --> 00:41:45.120
Made him a little cat that you can just purr every so often on a Sunday morning.

00:41:47.120 --> 00:41:50.120
It's terrible and then we settle for that.

00:41:50.120 --> 00:41:52.120
And we say, this is who God is.

00:41:52.120 --> 00:41:57.120
It's terrible. It's like having a dad that you'll never know throughout your life.

00:41:57.120 --> 00:42:01.120
Never know his touch, never know his words, never know his words.

00:42:01.120 --> 00:42:05.120
Never know his touch, never know his words, never know his embrace.

00:42:05.120 --> 00:42:07.120
Oh my God, that's a terrible way to live, man.

00:42:11.120 --> 00:42:13.120
You get better service in an orphanage.

00:42:14.120 --> 00:42:16.120
At least they come and pick you up and kiss you occasionally.

00:42:21.120 --> 00:42:23.120
You know what bugs me?

00:42:23.120 --> 00:42:26.120
That there are hundreds and hundreds of churches like this

00:42:26.120 --> 00:42:28.120
and hundreds and hundreds of pastors that promote this.

00:42:28.120 --> 00:42:31.120
And hundreds and hundreds of people that perpetuated

00:42:31.120 --> 00:42:34.120
generation after generation to their children and their children's children.

00:42:40.120 --> 00:42:42.120
Is it fair to bring up Eliakim like that?

00:42:50.120 --> 00:42:56.120
People react to emotions differently, but we cannot judge people by their reaction.

00:42:56.120 --> 00:42:59.120
So Lindsay may cry out when she's worshipping.

00:42:59.120 --> 00:43:02.120
Sadi may start shouting when you're worshipping.

00:43:02.120 --> 00:43:03.120
You may not.

00:43:03.120 --> 00:43:09.120
I don't judge whether you're participating or not by how loud you are in your emotional response.

00:43:09.120 --> 00:43:17.120
But emotions are a part of connecting with God because he pines for relational joy.

00:43:27.120 --> 00:43:37.120
One of the things he loves doing is he loves giving me the secure intimacy of sonship or daughtership.

00:43:39.120 --> 00:43:42.120
He loves giving me the secure intimacy of sonship.

00:43:43.120 --> 00:44:02.120
He just makes sure that Jacob and Yahweh, or God, are ridiculously in love with each other.

00:44:06.120 --> 00:44:08.120
This is his intent. Can I continuously do this? Why?

00:44:08.120 --> 00:44:10.120
Who lived like this?

00:44:10.120 --> 00:44:12.120
There was one who lived like this.

00:44:13.120 --> 00:44:15.120
And his intent is, can I do the same with Jane?

00:44:15.120 --> 00:44:17.120
Can I do the same with Josh?

00:44:17.120 --> 00:44:18.120
Can I do the same with James?

00:44:18.120 --> 00:44:19.120
And can I do the same with Jacob?

00:44:19.120 --> 00:44:22.120
If you notice, he picks people with the name starting with J.

00:44:25.120 --> 00:44:26.120
It's not my fault.

00:44:29.120 --> 00:44:30.120
Right, Jamie?

00:44:32.120 --> 00:44:33.120
He's going to change his name.

00:44:33.120 --> 00:44:34.120
He's going to change his name.

00:44:37.120 --> 00:44:39.120
Sometimes you know that humor is not from God.

00:44:44.120 --> 00:44:46.120
Secure intimacy of sonship.

00:44:47.120 --> 00:44:53.120
The intent of the Holy Spirit is, can Jacob and God be ridiculously in love with each other because Jesus was?

00:44:53.120 --> 00:45:00.120
And so even now as I speak, I must be continuously aware of how much he dotes over me and how much I love him back.

00:45:00.120 --> 00:45:06.120
Right now. Right now as I'm looking at them, looking at you, talking, teaching, trying to think of the next point,

00:45:06.120 --> 00:45:13.120
I must also be continuously marinated in this thing called the love of the Father for his son Jacob.

00:45:13.120 --> 00:45:19.120
Everything that now then comes out of me, the next sentence that comes out of me will come out of my mind

00:45:19.120 --> 00:45:26.120
but it is still soaked there in the awareness of the fact that I speak from the matrix of my Father's love.

00:45:30.120 --> 00:45:34.120
That's when you suddenly are not coming face to face with words.

00:45:34.120 --> 00:45:35.120
You're coming face to face with God.

00:45:42.120 --> 00:45:43.120
The secure intimacy.

00:45:43.120 --> 00:45:44.120
The secure intimacy.

00:45:46.120 --> 00:45:48.120
You know, these are the things that we need to carve time out for.

00:45:48.120 --> 00:45:52.120
You think anybody who carves time out for this will not be able to handle the day.

00:45:52.120 --> 00:45:55.120
You'll handle the day easily. It doesn't matter how rough it gets.

00:45:58.120 --> 00:46:01.120
Boyfriend left, you can still handle the day.

00:46:02.120 --> 00:46:05.120
Boyfriend was never your boyfriend, you can still handle the day.

00:46:05.120 --> 00:46:13.120
Once we begin to do this, then what happens is the Spirit of God intensifies.

00:46:15.120 --> 00:46:16.120
Don't you long for this?

00:46:16.120 --> 00:46:19.120
The Spirit of God intensifies Jesus' presence.

00:46:21.120 --> 00:46:23.120
And then the spirit of God intensifies.

00:46:25.120 --> 00:46:27.120
And then the spirit of God intensifies.

00:46:27.120 --> 00:46:28.120
The Spirit of God intensifies.

00:46:30.120 --> 00:46:31.120
Don't you long for this?

00:46:31.120 --> 00:46:34.120
The Spirit of God intensifies Jesus' presence

00:46:37.120 --> 00:46:40.120
through your words.

00:46:46.120 --> 00:46:47.120
You listen.

00:46:47.120 --> 00:46:50.120
People begin to listen and they encounter the one who is present.

00:46:50.120 --> 00:46:52.120
People begin to listen to your words.

00:46:52.120 --> 00:46:54.120
Listen to your words.

00:46:55.120 --> 00:47:00.120
And they encounter the one who is present.

00:47:05.120 --> 00:47:09.120
This, in a real sense, is what the prophetic is about.

00:47:12.120 --> 00:47:14.120
So awesome! Just think of it.

00:47:14.120 --> 00:47:16.120
Just think of having a conversation with you.

00:47:16.120 --> 00:47:20.120
And as you are speaking to me, because you are so aware of your Father,

00:47:20.120 --> 00:47:22.120
because this has become second nature to you.

00:47:22.120 --> 00:47:27.120
As you speak to me, yes, you are speaking to me, but I become aware of the one who is present.

00:47:29.120 --> 00:47:30.120
That changes people.

00:47:30.120 --> 00:47:32.120
That's the essence of the prophetic.

00:47:38.120 --> 00:47:40.120
Come on, man. I know you desire this.

00:47:42.120 --> 00:47:43.120
And it must happen.

00:47:43.120 --> 00:47:49.120
Why is it that when guys like Jeremy and Evan and Nick, who we don't think much of,

00:47:50.120 --> 00:47:53.120
went to Indonesia and they stood before these young people,

00:47:53.120 --> 00:47:59.120
their response was, they have never had a male role model in their lives.

00:47:59.120 --> 00:48:00.120
What did they see?

00:48:02.120 --> 00:48:03.120
Why do they want them back?

00:48:06.120 --> 00:48:10.120
Because somehow as these young people, they have never had a male role model in their lives.

00:48:11.120 --> 00:48:16.120
Because somehow as these kids gathered around Nick, around Evan, around Jeremy,

00:48:16.120 --> 00:48:20.120
and I watched it, I took photographs, they were just hungry,

00:48:20.120 --> 00:48:22.120
and they didn't even know what they were hungry for.

00:48:28.120 --> 00:48:29.120
That's what we are going to do.

00:48:36.120 --> 00:48:37.120
This is where we are heading, guys.

00:48:37.120 --> 00:48:39.120
It's going to be our portion, yeah?

00:48:40.120 --> 00:48:42.120
It's not something in the far distance.

00:48:42.120 --> 00:48:43.120
What is Luke 421?

00:48:44.120 --> 00:48:45.120
We won't go there right now.

00:48:50.120 --> 00:48:51.120
The Holy Spirit has a voice.

00:48:51.120 --> 00:48:53.120
The Holy Spirit has a voice.

00:48:55.120 --> 00:48:56.120
The Spirit has a voice.

00:48:58.120 --> 00:49:03.120
You see that in the Book of Revelation continuously, but let him who has ears hear.

00:49:03.120 --> 00:49:05.120
You see that in Acts Chapter 13.

00:49:06.120 --> 00:49:09.120
They were praying and the Holy Spirit said, the Holy Spirit has a voice.

00:49:10.120 --> 00:49:12.120
He who has a ear, let him hear what the Spirit says.

00:49:13.120 --> 00:49:14.120
He has a voice.

00:49:14.120 --> 00:49:16.120
Pay attention to his voice.

00:49:16.120 --> 00:49:18.120
Once you hear it, check, double check.

00:49:23.120 --> 00:49:25.120
Just because you hear him, doesn't mean you jump to it immediately.

00:49:25.120 --> 00:49:27.120
Ask him, Spirit of God, is this really you?

00:49:27.120 --> 00:49:32.120
Can you remind me of a scripture that shows me that this is from the way God has chosen me?

00:49:33.120 --> 00:49:36.120
The way God thinks, yeah, shall I go ahead and just speak it?

00:49:36.120 --> 00:49:38.120
Shall I go ahead and do what you're asking me to do?

00:49:38.120 --> 00:49:40.120
I'm scared, but I'll go ahead and do it.

00:49:40.120 --> 00:49:41.120
The Spirit of God has a voice.

00:49:41.120 --> 00:49:43.120
He continuously promises.

00:49:43.120 --> 00:49:45.120
He's God's agent on earth.

00:49:45.120 --> 00:49:46.120
This is what he does.

00:49:47.120 --> 00:49:48.120
He takes the people of God.

00:49:48.120 --> 00:49:49.120
He takes an individual.

00:49:49.120 --> 00:49:52.120
He takes a group of people and he says, let me direct you.

00:49:56.120 --> 00:49:57.120
He has a voice.

00:49:58.120 --> 00:50:00.120
Set aside for me Paul and Barnabas.

00:50:01.120 --> 00:50:03.120
Look out for Jezebel.

00:50:05.120 --> 00:50:06.120
Be careful.

00:50:06.120 --> 00:50:09.120
There's tremendous persecution coming, but I'll keep you through it.

00:50:09.120 --> 00:50:11.120
Ten days and it'll be over.

00:50:11.120 --> 00:50:12.120
You'll be fine.

00:50:13.120 --> 00:50:15.120
I placed an open door before you.

00:50:15.120 --> 00:50:17.120
I know you've got little strength, but don't worry.

00:50:17.120 --> 00:50:20.120
This open door, I've opened and no one can shut.

00:50:20.120 --> 00:50:22.120
This is God speaking.

00:50:22.120 --> 00:50:26.120
The distance between heaven and earth is collapsed because of the Spirit.

00:50:26.120 --> 00:50:27.120
He collapses the distance.

00:50:29.120 --> 00:50:30.120
It's like a belt.

00:50:30.120 --> 00:50:37.120
You can hold a belt this way and there's a distance or you can fold it and the distance is bridged.

00:50:38.120 --> 00:50:39.120
He's here right now.

00:50:40.120 --> 00:50:43.120
And some of us, as I'm teaching, can hear his voice.

00:50:43.120 --> 00:50:49.120
Not what I am teaching, but what he's taking out of what I'm teaching and saying, here, Nix Dad, you take this.

00:50:49.120 --> 00:50:50.120
Here, Aaron, you take this.

00:50:50.120 --> 00:50:52.120
Here, Priyanka, you take this.

00:50:52.120 --> 00:50:53.120
And it applies to your situation.

00:50:53.120 --> 00:50:58.120
One of the things I really enjoy doing is sitting here and seeing which song Tuni will start with.

00:50:58.120 --> 00:51:00.120
What someone will say in between.

00:51:00.120 --> 00:51:02.120
What will Kez say?

00:51:02.120 --> 00:51:06.120
I called Kez out deliberately today because the Lord said, listen, ask her to pray.

00:51:06.120 --> 00:51:08.120
And when she prays, you listen.

00:51:11.120 --> 00:51:16.120
And so it doesn't matter whether you're the pastor or not the pastor, the Spirit of God speaks.

00:51:16.120 --> 00:51:19.120
And often he speaks either directly to you or through people.

00:51:19.120 --> 00:51:29.120
So even now in a teaching like this, yes, we are talking about the Holy Spirit, but my God, the Spirit of God is taking different words, using it in different lives, at different times, bringing out different outcomes.

00:51:31.120 --> 00:51:32.120
He has a voice.

00:51:36.120 --> 00:51:40.120
Our God loves talking and he wants to talk.

00:51:40.120 --> 00:51:41.120
He wants to talk.

00:51:41.120 --> 00:51:43.120
He wants to talk.

00:51:43.120 --> 00:51:44.120
He wants to talk.

00:51:44.120 --> 00:51:45.120
He wants to talk.

00:51:45.120 --> 00:51:46.120
He wants to talk.

00:51:46.120 --> 00:51:47.120
He wants to talk.

00:51:47.120 --> 00:51:48.120
He wants to talk.

00:51:48.120 --> 00:51:49.120
He wants to speak.

00:51:49.120 --> 00:51:54.120
He wants to touch you continuously because he knows your capacity.

00:51:54.120 --> 00:51:58.120
He knows how often prosperous heart can be affected in two hours.

00:52:03.120 --> 00:52:04.120
What does this require?

00:52:04.120 --> 00:52:06.120
An opening of our hearts, man.

00:52:09.120 --> 00:52:12.120
What comes against the opening of our hearts?

00:52:12.120 --> 00:52:13.120
Busyness.

00:52:17.120 --> 00:52:19.120
Self-consciousness.

00:52:22.120 --> 00:52:23.120
Laziness.

00:52:29.120 --> 00:52:30.120
Familiarity.

00:52:33.120 --> 00:52:34.120
These four things.

00:52:34.120 --> 00:52:35.120
Busyness.

00:52:38.120 --> 00:52:39.120
What was the second one?

00:52:42.120 --> 00:52:44.120
Self-consciousness.

00:52:44.120 --> 00:52:45.120
Self-consciousness.

00:52:45.120 --> 00:52:46.120
Busyness.

00:52:46.120 --> 00:52:47.120
Self-consciousness.

00:52:47.120 --> 00:52:48.120
Laziness.

00:52:48.120 --> 00:52:49.120
Familiarity.

00:52:49.120 --> 00:52:53.120
These things will always prevent me from opening my heart.

00:52:59.120 --> 00:53:01.120
Always prevent me from opening my heart.

00:53:04.120 --> 00:53:07.120
Another word for familiarity is sufficiency.

00:53:08.120 --> 00:53:10.120
Let me change the word familiarity to sufficiency.

00:53:10.120 --> 00:53:11.120
Sufficiency.

00:53:11.120 --> 00:53:12.120
You know what sufficiency is?

00:53:12.120 --> 00:53:14.120
What I have right now is enough.

00:53:16.120 --> 00:53:17.120
It's a curse.

00:53:20.120 --> 00:53:21.120
Sufficiency.

00:53:21.120 --> 00:53:22.120
I'm happy where I am.

00:53:22.120 --> 00:53:23.120
I'm doing well.

00:53:27.120 --> 00:53:33.120
Four things that if we can destroy, you'll find that your heart just keeps opening.

00:53:33.120 --> 00:53:37.120
I love what David said in Psalm 119.

00:53:37.120 --> 00:53:43.120
In Psalm 119, oh God, enlarge my heart so that I may run after you.

00:53:43.120 --> 00:53:47.120
Enlarge my heart as in I need greater capacity.

00:53:51.120 --> 00:53:52.120
Okay.

00:53:53.120 --> 00:53:54.120
Let me in.

00:53:57.120 --> 00:54:00.120
One of the Spirit's favorite words is instead.

00:54:02.120 --> 00:54:04.120
He loves this word.

00:54:04.120 --> 00:54:06.120
Take advantage of it.

00:54:07.120 --> 00:54:08.120
Take advantage of it.

00:54:09.120 --> 00:54:13.120
When he said instead, what he means is, hey Jacob, you got a deficiency?

00:54:15.120 --> 00:54:16.120
I've got default.

00:54:16.120 --> 00:54:17.120
And what's my default?

00:54:17.120 --> 00:54:25.120
My default is wisdom, wholeness, abundance.

00:54:26.120 --> 00:54:27.120
You've got a deficiency?

00:54:28.120 --> 00:54:29.120
This is my default.

00:54:30.120 --> 00:54:31.120
Can we exchange?

00:54:31.120 --> 00:54:32.120
Isaiah 61.

00:54:32.120 --> 00:54:34.120
Continuous exchange.

00:54:34.120 --> 00:54:35.120
Beauty instead of ashes.

00:54:35.120 --> 00:54:36.120
Joy instead of mourning.

00:54:36.120 --> 00:54:37.120
Praise instead of heaviness.

00:54:37.120 --> 00:54:38.120
Open to him.

00:54:39.120 --> 00:54:41.120
See, this is where expectancy matters.

00:54:41.120 --> 00:54:43.120
This is where expectancy matters.

00:54:43.120 --> 00:54:45.120
Guys, expectancy is difficult.

00:54:45.120 --> 00:54:47.120
Hope is easy.

00:54:47.120 --> 00:54:57.120
Hope is like throwing a coin into a well or into a fountain in Singapore and expecting that if it happens, kayser-as-sara.

00:54:57.120 --> 00:54:58.120
Expectancy is difficult.

00:54:58.120 --> 00:55:01.120
You know who, you know why we cannot expect?

00:55:01.120 --> 00:55:03.120
Because we're not expecting anything.

00:55:03.120 --> 00:55:06.120
We cannot expect because we do not have the stamina to stay.

00:55:07.120 --> 00:55:10.120
Expectancy requires stamina.

00:55:11.120 --> 00:55:14.120
And most of us don't have the stamina.

00:55:14.120 --> 00:55:16.120
And you know why we don't have the stamina?

00:55:16.120 --> 00:55:18.120
Back to the same four reasons.

00:55:18.120 --> 00:55:27.120
Busyness, self-consciousness, laziness, and sufficiency.

00:55:27.120 --> 00:55:32.120
Those four things are like, you know, there's a fly in Africa called the Titi fish.

00:55:33.120 --> 00:55:34.120
It's a Titi fly.

00:55:34.120 --> 00:55:39.120
If a Titi fly bites you, you just begin to sleep.

00:55:39.120 --> 00:55:40.120
You go into stupor.

00:55:40.120 --> 00:55:43.120
There are spiritual Titi flies and these are the four ones.

00:55:43.120 --> 00:55:46.120
We call this the Titi Titi fly, four of them.

00:55:46.120 --> 00:55:47.120
Yeah.

00:55:47.120 --> 00:55:50.120
When they bite, it just cripples you, man.

00:55:51.120 --> 00:55:53.120
These four things will always cripple you.

00:55:53.120 --> 00:55:56.120
Expectancy is killed by these four things.

00:55:56.120 --> 00:55:58.120
Because expectancy requires stamina.

00:55:58.120 --> 00:56:01.120
Do you have the stamina to expect instead?

00:56:01.120 --> 00:56:03.120
Is this God true or is he not?

00:56:03.120 --> 00:56:05.120
Is he alive or is he not?

00:56:05.120 --> 00:56:06.120
Is he real, is he not?

00:56:06.120 --> 00:56:08.120
Is he here right now, is he not?

00:56:08.120 --> 00:56:11.120
Does he say instead and then not deliver?

00:56:11.120 --> 00:56:13.120
Is he man that he should lie?

00:56:15.120 --> 00:56:16.120
Instead.

00:56:16.120 --> 00:56:18.120
It's a critical word.

00:56:24.120 --> 00:56:25.120
He loves exchange.

00:56:26.120 --> 00:56:27.120
Let's end there.

00:56:28.120 --> 00:56:29.120
Let me just pray.

00:56:31.120 --> 00:56:34.120
Spirit of God, you're a real person.

00:56:35.120 --> 00:56:37.120
I don't want to treat you as...

00:56:40.120 --> 00:56:41.120
I don't know.

00:56:41.120 --> 00:56:43.120
Sometimes we treat you like a what?

00:56:43.120 --> 00:56:45.120
We don't treat you like a who?

00:56:45.120 --> 00:56:49.120
Part of the reason is we refer to you as the Holy Spirit.

00:56:49.120 --> 00:56:53.120
Usually when you put the before something, it becomes a what?

00:56:55.120 --> 00:56:57.120
But you're a who?

00:57:02.120 --> 00:57:03.120
I want this.

00:57:03.120 --> 00:57:05.120
Oh God, we want this.

00:57:05.120 --> 00:57:07.120
We know you want it for us.

00:57:07.120 --> 00:57:10.120
We go back to this word that I was saying earlier.

00:57:10.120 --> 00:57:11.120
That you...

00:57:12.120 --> 00:57:14.120
You yearn.

00:57:14.120 --> 00:57:16.120
James chapter four talks about it.

00:57:16.120 --> 00:57:19.120
You yearn for relational joy.

00:57:19.120 --> 00:57:21.120
You yearn over us.

00:57:21.120 --> 00:57:23.120
You want to touch my life.

00:57:23.120 --> 00:57:29.120
You would want to touch me like a parent would touch their child over and over again during a day.

00:57:29.120 --> 00:57:32.120
Where you want to make me aware of yourself.

00:57:32.120 --> 00:57:33.120
Of the things you're planning.

00:57:33.120 --> 00:57:36.120
Of the things you want me to engage in.

00:57:36.120 --> 00:57:40.120
You yearn to speak to me.

00:57:40.120 --> 00:57:49.120
Gosh, we made you some kind of a person who speaks once in a blue moon after we fast and pray and do all kinds of religious stuff.

00:57:49.120 --> 00:57:51.120
You yearn to speak to me.

00:57:51.120 --> 00:57:54.120
You're the spirit of the Father which means the Father is like that.

00:57:54.120 --> 00:57:58.120
You're the spirit of Jesus which means Jesus is like that.

00:57:58.120 --> 00:58:00.120
We're going to treat you differently.

00:58:00.120 --> 00:58:03.120
We as a church are going to treat you differently.

00:58:03.120 --> 00:58:08.120
We're going to declare that you're someone who sticks closer than a brother.

00:58:08.120 --> 00:58:11.120
They were talking about you one day.

00:58:12.120 --> 00:58:15.120
You are the one who sticks closer than a brother.

00:58:20.120 --> 00:58:22.120
So we embrace you right now.

00:58:23.120 --> 00:58:26.120
Didn't know you were exuberant and humorous.

00:58:27.120 --> 00:58:30.120
Gosh, our picture of God is so rotten.

00:58:34.120 --> 00:58:36.120
We are made in your image.

00:58:40.120 --> 00:58:46.120
So we say goodbye to our lives that is steeped in rationale and logic and reason.

00:58:46.120 --> 00:58:48.120
We say goodbye to it.

00:58:48.120 --> 00:58:57.120
You said in Romans chapter 8 that those that are led by the Spirit are the sons of God.

00:58:57.120 --> 00:59:09.120
So I'm going to put up Genesis 28 again on the board and just ask people to pray along that scripture.

00:59:09.120 --> 00:59:13.120
Genesis 28, 10 to 16 of the thereabouts of Brandon.

00:59:14.120 --> 00:59:20.120
I'm going to put up Genesis 28 again on the board and just ask people to pray along that scripture.

00:59:20.120 --> 00:59:24.120
Genesis 28, 10 to 16 of the thereabouts of Brandon.

00:59:24.120 --> 00:59:27.120
If you can put that on the board.

00:59:35.120 --> 00:59:38.120
I want some of us to just pray this.

00:59:38.120 --> 00:59:41.120
I want some of us to just pray this.

00:59:41.120 --> 00:59:44.120
Pray based on what I've talked about and then the scripture.

00:59:44.120 --> 00:59:46.120
See if you can connect it together.

00:59:46.120 --> 00:59:50.120
Listen to the Spirit of God.

00:59:50.120 --> 00:59:53.120
Pray not for us, pray to Him.

00:59:53.120 --> 00:59:57.120
Pray for us that we connect with Him.

00:59:57.120 --> 01:00:00.120
Pray different.

01:00:00.120 --> 01:00:03.120
I don't want to use the word pray, talk different.

01:00:03.120 --> 01:00:05.120
Do I need to switch off here, Brandon?

01:00:05.120 --> 01:00:06.120
Are you okay?

01:00:06.120 --> 01:00:13.120
Okay.

01:00:13.120 --> 01:00:16.120
If you need prayer after this, there will be people to pray with you.

01:00:16.120 --> 01:00:41.120
So feel free to come up.

01:00:41.120 --> 01:00:51.120
Spirit of the Living God.

01:00:51.120 --> 01:00:53.120
Yeah.

01:00:53.120 --> 01:00:56.120
So feel free, guys, we'll end with a few people praying.

01:00:56.120 --> 01:00:58.120
So what are we trying to do?

01:00:58.120 --> 01:01:01.120
We're trying to take what we learned about the Spirit of God.

01:01:01.120 --> 01:01:05.120
We're trying to look at the scripture, see if there's any connection.

01:01:05.120 --> 01:01:12.120
And then pray to the Spirit or pray that we connect with Him in a way that's amazing.

01:01:12.120 --> 01:01:13.120
Yeah.

01:01:13.120 --> 01:01:16.120
So come to the mic and pray.

01:01:16.120 --> 01:01:19.120
And we'll end with that.

01:01:19.120 --> 01:01:30.120
If I suddenly come up and end it, don't feel bad because we have other stuff to do too.

01:01:30.120 --> 01:01:42.120
There we go.

01:01:42.120 --> 01:01:43.120
Keep going.

01:01:43.120 --> 01:01:47.120
I want to get to the next spot, Brandon.

01:01:47.120 --> 01:01:50.120
Keep going.

01:01:50.120 --> 01:01:51.120
Yeah.

01:01:51.120 --> 01:01:56.120
16 to 18 maybe.

01:01:56.120 --> 01:01:59.120
Yeah.

01:02:26.120 --> 01:02:28.120
Yeah.

01:02:56.120 --> 01:03:14.120
Father, we thank you for the stone that you've given us to erect.

01:03:15.120 --> 01:03:21.120
Father, today we've...

01:03:21.120 --> 01:03:26.120
You've invited us into this place of resting with you.

01:03:26.120 --> 01:03:29.120
Holy Spirit, you've invited us to lay our head.

01:03:29.120 --> 01:03:36.120
And now you're saying, can you take the stone that you've laid your head on and can you erect it as a sacrifice?

01:03:36.120 --> 01:03:42.120
This isn't a physical thing, but it's this conviction.

01:03:42.120 --> 01:03:48.120
It's this emotion that wells up within us.

01:03:48.120 --> 01:03:56.120
Saying, can we take what you've given us and now set it as a sacrifice saying, Father, this is an area where we're not going to go back.

01:03:56.120 --> 01:03:58.120
You said you're giving us a new fire.

01:03:58.120 --> 01:04:04.120
You said that there's a laying down of the old.

01:04:04.120 --> 01:04:11.120
And so, Father, we come to this place of rest, this place of awe and wonder that you are here in your inner midst.

01:04:11.120 --> 01:04:19.120
It's not based on what we do, but it's coming to this place of rest.

01:04:19.120 --> 01:04:24.120
And so now we take this stone, we erect it.

01:04:24.120 --> 01:04:26.120
Everything is provided by you.

01:04:26.120 --> 01:04:38.120
And then we take oil and we pour it on it saying, Holy, Holy, Holy is the Lord God Almighty who was and is and is to come.

01:04:38.120 --> 01:04:46.120
Holy, Holy, Holy is the Lord God Almighty who was and is and is to come.

01:04:46.120 --> 01:04:49.120
We thank you, Father, that you are here.

01:04:49.120 --> 01:04:51.120
You are present.

01:04:51.120 --> 01:04:52.120
It's your invitation.

01:04:52.120 --> 01:05:03.120
It's our delight to discover what this relationship is to rest and operate first out of consulting everything through you, Holy Spirit.

01:05:03.120 --> 01:05:06.120
Yeah. Thank you.

01:05:17.120 --> 01:05:25.120
Spirit of God, you want to remind us to stop operating in our own measure.

01:05:25.120 --> 01:05:31.120
You're telling us to be the gateway of heaven, meaning your spirit dwells in us.

01:05:31.120 --> 01:05:39.120
And you're saying church begin to operate in the in my full measure, not your measure, but my full measure.

01:05:39.120 --> 01:05:42.120
Thank you.

01:05:42.120 --> 01:05:45.120
No wonder Jesus, you said this.

01:05:45.120 --> 01:05:50.120
When the spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all truth.

01:05:50.120 --> 01:05:55.120
He will not speak on his own, but will tell you what he has heard.

01:05:55.120 --> 01:05:58.120
He will tell you about the future.

01:05:58.120 --> 01:06:03.120
He will bring me glory by telling you whatever he receives from me.

01:06:03.120 --> 01:06:07.120
Yeah. So Spirit of God, we are ready to receive.

01:06:07.120 --> 01:06:09.120
Thank you.

01:06:15.120 --> 01:06:21.120
Spirit of God, you collapse the gap between heaven and earth.

01:06:21.120 --> 01:06:28.120
So destroy this mindset in our minds that heaven is far up there.

01:06:28.120 --> 01:06:29.120
Yeah.

01:06:29.120 --> 01:06:31.120
Because heaven is here.

01:06:31.120 --> 01:06:34.120
As our song says, you didn't want heaven without us.

01:06:34.120 --> 01:06:36.120
So Jesus, you brought heaven down.

01:06:36.120 --> 01:06:40.120
And Spirit of God, you are doing heaven's work here on earth.

01:06:40.120 --> 01:06:42.120
Shift our mindset about.

01:06:42.120 --> 01:06:43.120
Yeah.

01:06:43.120 --> 01:06:51.120
Shift our mindset because we are the ones through whom you are bringing heaven here on earth.

01:06:51.120 --> 01:06:53.120
And so about we thank you.

01:06:53.120 --> 01:07:01.120
And also, Father, we pray the gateway of heaven, which Jacob saw in his dream.

01:07:01.120 --> 01:07:05.120
So angels ascending and descending about.

01:07:05.120 --> 01:07:08.120
I pray that these be the new normal for us.

01:07:08.120 --> 01:07:10.120
Not only when we pray.

01:07:10.120 --> 01:07:15.120
Not only when we come here on Sunday for two, three hours of worship about.

01:07:15.120 --> 01:07:18.120
But let this be the new normal for us.

01:07:18.120 --> 01:07:20.120
From the youngest to the old.

01:07:20.120 --> 01:07:21.120
Not just pastors.

01:07:21.120 --> 01:07:22.120
Not just leaders.

01:07:22.120 --> 01:07:25.120
But everyone from the youngest to the oldest about.

01:07:25.120 --> 01:07:32.120
I pray that we, even in the middle of cutting vegetables, in the middle of taking transit,

01:07:32.120 --> 01:07:36.120
may we be able to hear the voice of heaven.

01:07:36.120 --> 01:07:38.120
May we see angels ascending and descending.

01:07:38.120 --> 01:07:43.120
So that, like Jacob said, when they hear us, when they hear our words,

01:07:43.120 --> 01:07:45.120
they begin to hear the voice of God.

01:07:45.120 --> 01:07:49.120
Because we have access to this gateway of heaven.

01:07:49.120 --> 01:07:53.120
And this new voice of heaven, the realities of heaven, the benefits of heaven,

01:07:53.120 --> 01:08:00.120
becomes the new normal for us so that others can benefit through us, O God, in Jesus' name.

01:08:00.120 --> 01:08:02.120
Yeah.

01:08:02.120 --> 01:08:04.120
A couple more.

01:08:33.120 --> 01:08:36.120
Father, I thank you for renaming us today.

01:08:36.120 --> 01:08:43.120
I go a little further from the story, and I thank you that you are renaming us to Israel,

01:08:43.120 --> 01:08:48.120
where you will use us to bless generations after generations to come.

01:08:48.120 --> 01:08:49.120
Hallelujah.

01:08:49.120 --> 01:08:50.120
So we bless you in Jesus' name.

01:08:50.120 --> 01:08:51.120
Hallelujah.

01:09:02.120 --> 01:09:23.120
Yeah, you can both come.

01:09:23.120 --> 01:09:33.120
So, Father, you've changed us from a heart of stone to a heart of flesh.

01:09:33.120 --> 01:09:41.120
And so with this heart of flesh, may we experience all the emotions that your Spirit is teaching us to experience.

01:09:41.120 --> 01:09:43.120
That is heaven.

01:09:43.120 --> 01:09:44.120
That is the touch of hair.

01:09:44.120 --> 01:09:48.120
And to experience all the emotions your Spirit is teaching us to experience.

01:09:48.120 --> 01:09:53.120
So, Father, may we, unlike Jacob, not say, I didn't know you were here,

01:09:53.120 --> 01:09:57.120
but with your heart of flesh, know that you were here.

01:09:57.120 --> 01:09:58.120
Hallelujah.

01:09:58.120 --> 01:10:02.120
And be fully in awe of your presence all the time.

01:10:02.120 --> 01:10:15.120
Amen.

01:10:15.120 --> 01:10:20.120
It was you, Holy Spirit, wasn't it, that descended like a dove over Jesus.

01:10:20.120 --> 01:10:26.120
And you said, This is my son, in whom I am very well pleased.

01:10:26.120 --> 01:10:33.120
I pray that this be a reality, that there be such a knowing of this for each of us.

01:10:33.120 --> 01:10:35.120
This is my son.

01:10:35.120 --> 01:10:38.120
This is my daughter, in whom I'm well pleased.

01:10:38.120 --> 01:10:39.120
Hallelujah.

01:10:39.120 --> 01:10:40.120
Listen to him.

01:10:40.120 --> 01:10:42.120
Listen to her.

01:10:42.120 --> 01:10:47.120
I pray that this be known, and not just in our heads, but in our bodies and our spirits,

01:10:47.120 --> 01:10:51.120
emotionally, that we feel it, that we know it, that we experience it.

01:10:51.120 --> 01:10:54.120
I pray this for each of us.

01:10:54.120 --> 01:11:02.120
I pray that we go beyond that and that somehow you'll, Holy Spirit, help us to know that we are your favorite person.

01:11:02.120 --> 01:11:03.120
Yeah.

01:11:03.120 --> 01:11:04.120
I pray.

01:11:04.120 --> 01:11:07.120
I can't imagine what it would be like to walk around like that.

01:11:07.120 --> 01:11:13.120
To know that I'm your favorite person and that you are my favorite person.

01:11:13.120 --> 01:11:15.120
Yeah.

01:11:15.120 --> 01:11:17.120
Wow.

01:11:17.120 --> 01:11:19.120
Favorite.

01:11:19.120 --> 01:11:22.120
I pray that so deeply for each of us.

01:11:22.120 --> 01:11:23.120
In Jesus' name.

01:11:23.120 --> 01:11:35.120
Amen.

01:11:35.120 --> 01:11:37.120
Can you try and remember this?

01:11:37.120 --> 01:11:46.120
One, the Holy Spirit has steadfast, inflexible love for you.

01:11:46.120 --> 01:11:49.120
Steadfast, inflexible love.

01:11:49.120 --> 01:11:51.120
He's not able to change it.

01:11:51.120 --> 01:11:53.120
Steadfast, inflexible love.

01:11:53.120 --> 01:11:58.120
Second, he has covenant loyalty towards you.

01:11:58.120 --> 01:12:03.120
He's loyal, but it's a covenant loyalty that he cannot break because he is God.

01:12:03.120 --> 01:12:07.120
Third, he has tremendous mercy and grace for you.

01:12:07.120 --> 01:12:09.120
He did not come to condemn.

01:12:09.120 --> 01:12:13.120
He came to convict of sin and righteousness.

01:12:13.120 --> 01:12:17.120
And four, he has tremendous affection for you.

01:12:17.120 --> 01:12:19.120
Not love, affection.

01:12:19.120 --> 01:12:21.120
Love, yes, but affection.

01:12:21.120 --> 01:12:25.120
Do you know what it is when someone who loves you shows affection?

01:12:25.120 --> 01:12:27.120
It's crazy.

01:12:27.120 --> 01:12:29.120
Tremendous affection for you.

01:12:29.120 --> 01:12:33.120
And that affection always translates into action.

01:12:33.120 --> 01:12:34.120
Okay?

01:12:34.120 --> 01:12:37.120
So remember that.

01:12:37.120 --> 01:12:45.120
He is steadfast and inflexible in his love for me.

01:12:45.120 --> 01:12:48.120
He has covenant loyalty towards me.

01:12:48.120 --> 01:12:49.120
He's loyal to me.

01:12:49.120 --> 01:12:50.120
This is odd.

01:12:50.120 --> 01:12:51.120
He's God.

01:12:51.120 --> 01:12:52.120
He doesn't need to be.

01:12:52.120 --> 01:13:03.120
Three, he's tremendously merciful and gracious to me, which is why he does not leave me even when I mess up and forget him.

01:13:03.120 --> 01:13:08.120
Four, because he loves, he's affectionate.

01:13:08.120 --> 01:13:11.120
He has affection for me.

01:13:11.120 --> 01:13:17.120
And his affection always translates into action.

01:13:17.120 --> 01:13:24.120
Now that you have that from him, this week try and give it back to him.

01:13:24.120 --> 01:13:27.120
Give back to him steadfast, inflexible love.

01:13:27.120 --> 01:13:32.120
Give back to him what it would look like to be loyal to God.

01:13:32.120 --> 01:13:35.120
Give to others mercy and grace that he gives you.

01:13:35.120 --> 01:13:40.120
And then the fourth, show him affection.

01:13:40.120 --> 01:13:43.120
What would affection look like between you and God?

01:13:43.120 --> 01:13:45.120
To be affectionate.

01:13:45.120 --> 01:13:46.120
To say things to him.

01:13:46.120 --> 01:13:49.120
To whisper sweet nothings.

01:13:49.120 --> 01:13:54.120
To try and caress the invisible face of God.

01:13:54.120 --> 01:13:56.120
To do something just for him.

01:13:56.120 --> 01:13:59.120
To remember him in the midst of a busy day.

01:13:59.120 --> 01:14:02.120
To take breaks saying, oh God, God busy.

01:14:02.120 --> 01:14:05.120
Just want to spend some time with you.

01:14:05.120 --> 01:14:07.120
Break into a silly song.

01:14:07.120 --> 01:14:12.120
Craft a really silly joke that he'll find funny.

01:14:12.120 --> 01:14:17.120
And that's affection.

01:14:17.120 --> 01:14:23.120
So Holy Spirit, we bless you right now.

01:14:23.120 --> 01:14:29.120
We thank you that you choose to be with us always, forever.

01:14:29.120 --> 01:14:32.120
You're the one who Jesus said would be left behind for us.

01:14:32.120 --> 01:14:34.120
We aren't orphans.

01:14:34.120 --> 01:14:36.120
I'm not an orphan.

01:14:36.120 --> 01:14:40.120
You connect me to the Father.

01:14:40.120 --> 01:14:43.120
And so across this room right now, to the degree we can,

01:14:43.120 --> 01:14:45.120
we want to show affection back to you.

01:14:45.120 --> 01:14:48.120
I don't know what that will look like for each of us.

01:14:48.120 --> 01:14:49.120
We might whisper it to you.

01:14:49.120 --> 01:14:50.120
We might do something.

01:14:50.120 --> 01:14:52.120
But right now, we want to try it.

01:14:52.120 --> 01:15:05.120
And we'll end with that.

01:15:05.120 --> 01:15:10.120
I will praise this Holy Name.

01:15:10.120 --> 01:15:13.120
All that I am, praise the Lord.

01:15:13.120 --> 01:15:16.120
I never forget the good things he does for me.

01:15:16.120 --> 01:15:20.120
He forgives all my sins and heals all my troubles.

01:15:20.120 --> 01:15:25.120
He redeems me from death and crowns me with the love and tender mercy.

01:15:25.120 --> 01:15:28.120
He fills my life with good things.

01:15:28.120 --> 01:15:57.120
My youth is renewed like a candle.

01:15:57.120 --> 01:16:03.120
I love you back with hugs.

01:16:03.120 --> 01:16:06.120
So many hugs, Lord.

01:16:06.120 --> 01:16:09.120
I love you back.

01:16:27.120 --> 01:16:54.120
Thank you.

01:16:54.120 --> 01:17:21.120
Amen.

01:17:24.120 --> 01:17:53.120
Father, I just pray for this.

01:17:53.120 --> 01:17:55.120
I just pray for Alicia right now.

01:17:55.120 --> 01:17:57.120
Can I just place my hands on you?

01:17:57.120 --> 01:17:58.120
I just pray for her.

01:17:58.120 --> 01:18:07.120
I pray that you just give her her desire to travel with her daughter.

01:18:07.120 --> 01:18:11.120
And you would bless her with plenty.

01:18:11.120 --> 01:18:21.120
That South America will become one of her favorite destinations.

01:18:21.120 --> 01:18:32.120
That the tenderness she sees in her daughter will be the tenderness that she has too.

01:18:32.120 --> 01:18:38.120
She'll be so sure that you will protect her.

01:18:38.120 --> 01:18:45.120
So sure that you'll be like a wall of protection around her.

01:18:45.120 --> 01:18:53.120
I pray, Father, that the hunger that has begun in her heart that you would satisfy.

01:18:53.120 --> 01:18:57.120
Sometimes she doesn't even know what she's looking for or searching for.

01:18:57.120 --> 01:19:00.120
But she knows there's something happening.

01:19:00.120 --> 01:19:03.120
And you say, but I knew you when you were a baby.

01:19:03.120 --> 01:19:06.120
I knew you before you were formed.

01:19:06.120 --> 01:19:10.120
Always had my eye out for you.

01:19:10.120 --> 01:19:21.120
Father, I just pray that a day comes when she will teach others to laugh and sing and dance.

01:19:21.120 --> 01:19:22.120
She's good at it.

01:19:22.120 --> 01:19:25.120
She'll teach others.

01:19:25.120 --> 01:19:28.120
I pray, Father, for one last thing before we end.

01:19:28.120 --> 01:19:32.120
That you would help her to start a business of her liking.

01:19:32.120 --> 01:19:38.120
And when she starts it, that you would send people who will look at her and say,

01:19:38.120 --> 01:19:40.120
I'm willing to invest in this and that.

01:19:40.120 --> 01:19:46.120
She would start a business of her liking and you'll prosper it.

01:19:46.120 --> 01:19:51.120
Thank you that the years ahead are years of plenty.

01:19:51.120 --> 01:19:52.120
People will say, where's she?

01:19:52.120 --> 01:19:55.120
Well, she's gone on another holiday.

01:19:55.120 --> 01:19:56.120
So I bless her.

01:19:56.120 --> 01:19:58.120
I thank you for bringing her here today.

01:19:58.120 --> 01:20:00.120
In Jesus' name.

01:20:00.120 --> 01:20:02.120
Thank you.

01:20:02.120 --> 01:20:03.120
All righty, guys.

01:20:03.120 --> 01:20:05.120
We'll see you when you see you.

01:20:05.120 --> 01:20:11.120
Thanks for hanging out and taking time to do what you do and saying things on the mic and stuff like that.

01:20:11.120 --> 01:20:14.120
You don't realize that you're ministering to all of us, yeah?

01:20:14.120 --> 01:20:16.120
That's how it's supposed to be.

01:20:16.120 --> 01:20:18.120
So bless you guys.

01:20:18.120 --> 01:20:22.120
Some of us won't be here next week, but we'll see you the week after.

01:20:22.120 --> 01:20:24.120
Yeah, cool.

01:20:35.120 --> 01:20:37.120
Thank you.
