00:00:00.000 --> 00:00:10.640
Are we good to go?

00:00:10.640 --> 00:00:11.640
Okay.

00:00:11.640 --> 00:00:19.480
So we've done this course, like I said, every year since 2011, and so it's such a privilege

00:00:19.480 --> 00:00:20.480
to do it again.

00:00:20.480 --> 00:00:23.640
And so it's a story really, guys.

00:00:23.640 --> 00:00:29.080
And so I'll go over it like one would tell a story, and then if we have time, we'll go

00:00:29.080 --> 00:00:38.080
over notes, and then we can even send out notes once we finish so that you have this

00:00:38.080 --> 00:00:39.600
for the rest of your life.

00:00:39.600 --> 00:00:45.640
So when God started the universe, started the earth, His idea was, hey, can I build

00:00:45.640 --> 00:00:47.440
a kingdom?

00:00:47.440 --> 00:00:48.440
Can I build a kingdom?

00:00:48.440 --> 00:00:49.440
How do we know that?

00:00:49.440 --> 00:00:53.920
In Genesis 1, 27, 28, God actually says, I'm giving you dominion.

00:00:53.920 --> 00:00:58.780
The very word dominion comes from the word kingdom, king's dominion.

00:00:58.780 --> 00:01:00.940
That's where the word comes from.

00:01:00.940 --> 00:01:06.680
And so the idea of God was, I'm going to create the universe, and I'm going to appoint in

00:01:06.680 --> 00:01:14.980
that universe someone who'll be a vice regent, as in who governs on my behalf, who's my deputy.

00:01:14.980 --> 00:01:17.420
But you can't have just any deputy, so what does he do?

00:01:17.420 --> 00:01:22.060
He decides to make someone in his own image, because you can't put someone in charge of

00:01:22.060 --> 00:01:25.460
a kingdom that is yours if you don't make someone in your image.

00:01:25.460 --> 00:01:30.540
So he creates you in his image, and he plonks you in the universe, and he says, you will

00:01:30.540 --> 00:01:33.580
be my vice regent, and he says, I'll give you charge.

00:01:33.580 --> 00:01:35.940
Genesis 1, 27, 28.

00:01:35.940 --> 00:01:37.580
I give you authority over everything.

00:01:37.580 --> 00:01:39.340
You have dominion over everything.

00:01:39.340 --> 00:01:42.420
The word dominion started with God.

00:01:42.420 --> 00:01:44.900
And so it was a kingdom that he was creating, eh?

00:01:44.900 --> 00:01:49.540
This is why it is said of God that he is a king from everlasting to everlasting.

00:01:49.540 --> 00:01:53.020
This is why it's said of God, your kingdom is from everlasting to everlasting.

00:01:53.580 --> 00:01:56.220
And so that was the idea.

00:01:56.220 --> 00:01:57.580
And then what happens?

00:01:57.580 --> 00:02:06.940
He starts with the idea of a kingdom, but once he gives this kingdom over to Adam, who

00:02:06.940 --> 00:02:15.720
is made in his image, and he's supposed to be a vice regent, as in the one who rules

00:02:15.720 --> 00:02:19.460
on the behalf of the king, Adam loses the kingdom.

00:02:19.460 --> 00:02:26.420
The kingdom is lost.

00:02:26.420 --> 00:02:27.420
How is the kingdom lost?

00:02:27.420 --> 00:02:36.540
Through a simple thing called sin, where Adam decides to follow the father of lies instead

00:02:36.540 --> 00:02:41.580
of the father of truth, which is what Jesus later on speaks of in the gospel.

00:02:41.580 --> 00:02:48.420
He says that I come from the father, and he is the father of truth, but you who say you're

00:02:48.420 --> 00:02:52.340
from Abraham, you've been following the father of lies.

00:02:52.340 --> 00:02:56.260
And then he says about Satan, that Satan has been a liar since the very beginning.

00:02:56.260 --> 00:03:02.580
So some of the things Jesus is referencing in the gospels are things that already happened

00:03:02.580 --> 00:03:08.980
thousands of years ago, where Satan, in the form of a serpent, and we'll talk about that,

00:03:08.980 --> 00:03:15.860
is able to have Adam, the vice regent, give over the kingdom that he was supposed to reign

00:03:16.340 --> 00:03:27.340
over, he loses it and gives regency to another who happened to be, you can call him whatever

00:03:27.780 --> 00:03:31.140
you want, you want to call him serpent, you can call him that, you can go on and call

00:03:31.140 --> 00:03:36.180
him devil, you can call him that, you can call him the accuser, you can call him Satan,

00:03:36.180 --> 00:03:41.980
you can use any word you want for him, but the regency is handed over to another.

00:03:41.980 --> 00:03:48.740
In Genesis 323, what happens is the Lord sent him from the garden to till the ground from

00:03:48.740 --> 00:03:50.420
where he was taken.

00:03:50.420 --> 00:03:55.660
And ever since the fall, man has been trying to restore a kingdom.

00:03:55.660 --> 00:04:00.100
Ever since the fall, mankind is interested in restoring the kingdom.

00:04:00.100 --> 00:04:07.100
They try to politics, they try through religion, they try through government, they try through

00:04:08.260 --> 00:04:09.820
self-effort.

00:04:09.820 --> 00:04:12.780
The intent is, can I bring back a kingdom?

00:04:12.780 --> 00:04:15.620
Who was the first guy who attempted to set up a kingdom?

00:04:15.620 --> 00:04:17.340
It was a guy called Nimrod.

00:04:17.340 --> 00:04:22.580
You check it out in Genesis 11, and Nimrod is the first guy who decides, hmm, I'd like

00:04:22.580 --> 00:04:23.580
to create a kingdom.

00:04:23.580 --> 00:04:24.580
So what does he do?

00:04:24.580 --> 00:04:29.620
He goes to a place called Babel, which is in the plains of Iraq even today, in Shinar,

00:04:29.620 --> 00:04:34.380
and he decides, okay, let me get people together and I'll create the first kingdom.

00:04:34.380 --> 00:04:39.420
So the idea of creating nations, creating kingdoms, has been for thousands and thousands

00:04:39.420 --> 00:04:44.660
of years because man lost something he was destined to have, and now that he lost it,

00:04:44.660 --> 00:04:47.740
it's a constant attempt to recreate the kingdom.

00:04:47.740 --> 00:04:53.100
And it doesn't work because if you don't have God in it, who is the ultimate king, how do

00:04:53.100 --> 00:04:54.100
you create a kingdom?

00:04:54.100 --> 00:04:58.260
And so man's attempts have been so futile, therefore Christ comes.

00:04:58.260 --> 00:04:59.620
And what does Christ say?

00:04:59.620 --> 00:05:04.340
Look at what he says, hey, this is a crazy thing throughout the story.

00:05:04.340 --> 00:05:08.900
There is no plan B. There is no plan B. God had only one plan.

00:05:08.900 --> 00:05:12.660
There has never been a plan B. Plan A and that's it.

00:05:12.660 --> 00:05:20.020
And if plan A breaks, he will come and fix it, even if it costs him his life.

00:05:20.020 --> 00:05:22.660
And so when Christ comes, what is he announcing?

00:05:22.660 --> 00:05:24.140
Is he announcing heaven?

00:05:24.140 --> 00:05:25.140
No.

00:05:25.140 --> 00:05:26.700
Is he announcing hell?

00:05:26.700 --> 00:05:27.700
Not really.

00:05:27.700 --> 00:05:29.100
What's he announcing?

00:05:29.100 --> 00:05:32.820
What's the core of his message?

00:05:32.820 --> 00:05:38.420
That I am a king, I have come to restore, reestablish the kingdom.

00:05:38.420 --> 00:05:41.020
And then he makes this crazy statement in John chapter 3.

00:05:41.020 --> 00:05:48.100
He says, unless you be born again, you cannot enter the kingdom of God.

00:05:48.100 --> 00:05:49.100
What's he doing here?

00:05:49.100 --> 00:05:53.140
He's saying, listen, I gave man a kingdom, he lost it.

00:05:53.140 --> 00:05:55.660
I have come as a man to restore it.

00:05:55.660 --> 00:05:56.980
Crazy, eh?

00:05:56.980 --> 00:06:02.660
Every part of the story as you listen to it, you realize how logical God is.

00:06:03.500 --> 00:06:06.340
Everything has such brilliant divine logic.

00:06:06.340 --> 00:06:09.780
So there's a kingdom that was created and given to Adam.

00:06:09.780 --> 00:06:11.860
Adam loses the kingdom.

00:06:11.860 --> 00:06:13.140
And so what does Christ do?

00:06:13.140 --> 00:06:16.140
He comes as a man to restore the kingdom.

00:06:16.140 --> 00:06:18.860
Unless you be born again, you cannot enter the kingdom of God.

00:06:18.860 --> 00:06:22.180
Any questions on that much?

00:06:22.180 --> 00:06:25.060
Any questions on that?

00:06:25.060 --> 00:06:29.060
Just on that bit.

00:06:29.460 --> 00:06:31.460
Nope.

00:06:31.460 --> 00:06:35.460
Yep, go ahead James.

00:06:35.460 --> 00:06:38.460
I can't hear you.

00:06:38.460 --> 00:06:43.460
Yeah, so let's not call him vice regent.

00:06:43.460 --> 00:06:44.460
Let's call him deputy.

00:06:44.460 --> 00:06:49.460
Or let him, let's call him the man appointed on behalf of.

00:06:49.460 --> 00:06:55.660
So if I were to leave tomorrow, I would appoint someone in the church to take care of the

00:06:55.660 --> 00:06:56.660
church.

00:06:56.660 --> 00:06:57.660
Why?

00:06:58.260 --> 00:07:01.260
Because Adam has to represent me while I'm away.

00:07:01.260 --> 00:07:04.260
You see kids, dads doing this when they go on a trip.

00:07:04.260 --> 00:07:07.260
The kid is hardly six years old and he says, I'm putting you in charge.

00:07:07.260 --> 00:07:10.260
Take care of mom and little sister, okay?

00:07:10.260 --> 00:07:17.260
It's just so normal for man to do some of the things that God started doing ages ago.

00:07:17.260 --> 00:07:22.260
We appoint people in our charge before we go somewhere.

00:07:22.260 --> 00:07:26.260
And so that's what God is doing when he's saying, hey, I made you in my image.

00:07:26.260 --> 00:07:33.260
When God made Adam in his image, he was confident of what Adam could become.

00:07:33.260 --> 00:07:37.260
Made in his image so that he could perpetuate after God's kind.

00:07:37.260 --> 00:07:39.260
Just think of that, eh?

00:07:39.260 --> 00:07:45.260
God makes someone in his image and he's so confident of Adam that he says to him, go

00:07:45.260 --> 00:07:46.260
forth and reproduce.

00:07:46.260 --> 00:07:49.260
Why does he say to Adam, go forth and reproduce?

00:07:49.260 --> 00:07:56.260
Because he knows that if I make someone in my image, whatever he reproduces will be after

00:07:56.260 --> 00:07:57.260
my kind.

00:07:59.260 --> 00:08:04.260
And it's crazy how it's only in Genesis 5 that you read the scripture which says, and

00:08:04.260 --> 00:08:12.260
then Adam had a son called Seth and Seth took after the image of Adam, no longer after the

00:08:12.260 --> 00:08:14.260
image of God.

00:08:14.260 --> 00:08:18.260
It's one of the saddest verses in the scripture where a man who was supposed to be in the

00:08:18.260 --> 00:08:24.260
image of God now shifts and he takes on the image of his own physical biological father.

00:08:24.260 --> 00:08:29.260
And in that one instant you know that from here on it's going to be different.

00:08:29.260 --> 00:08:31.260
You read that in Genesis 5.

00:08:31.260 --> 00:08:35.260
If you flip to Genesis 5 for a second, you'll see that.

00:08:39.260 --> 00:08:41.260
Genesis 5.

00:08:41.260 --> 00:08:49.260
This is the written account of Adam's time.

00:08:49.260 --> 00:08:53.260
When God created man, he made him in the likeness of God.

00:08:53.260 --> 00:08:57.260
He created the male and female and blessed them.

00:08:57.260 --> 00:08:59.260
And when they were created, he called them man.

00:08:59.260 --> 00:09:07.260
When Adam had lived 130 years, he had a son in his own likeness, in his image, and he

00:09:07.260 --> 00:09:08.260
named him Seth.

00:09:08.260 --> 00:09:09.260
There's that shift.

00:09:09.260 --> 00:09:12.260
Genesis 5 verse 1 to 3.

00:09:12.260 --> 00:09:20.260
And so one of God's intents then through Christ was, hey, I gave man a kingdom, he lost the

00:09:20.260 --> 00:09:24.260
kingdom, I'm going to come down as man and I'm going to restore the kingdom.

00:09:24.260 --> 00:09:26.260
And therefore he begins the process.

00:09:26.260 --> 00:09:33.260
And that's when he has this encounter with Nicodemus in the middle of the night where

00:09:33.260 --> 00:09:37.260
he says to Nicodemus, unless you're born again, unless you're born again, you cannot enter

00:09:37.260 --> 00:09:38.260
the kingdom of God.

00:09:38.260 --> 00:09:40.260
So no questions in that, right?

00:09:40.260 --> 00:09:42.260
Any questions?

00:09:42.260 --> 00:09:43.260
Yep.

00:09:43.260 --> 00:09:44.260
Yeah.

00:09:44.260 --> 00:10:04.260
So I'm going a little ahead and we can revisit it again.

00:10:05.260 --> 00:10:13.260
The reason God left a tree in the garden that he said one could not eat off was simply because

00:10:13.260 --> 00:10:16.260
without choice, there is no freedom.

00:10:16.260 --> 00:10:21.260
And without freedom, there is no love.

00:10:21.260 --> 00:10:23.260
Always remember this, eh?

00:10:23.260 --> 00:10:26.260
If choice is taken away, there is no freedom.

00:10:26.260 --> 00:10:30.260
And if freedom is taken away, one cannot love.

00:10:30.260 --> 00:10:36.260
Because if you take away my freedom and say I am the only choice, then what choice do I have?

00:10:36.260 --> 00:10:39.260
I really don't have a choice.

00:10:39.260 --> 00:10:41.260
God's intent of placing a tree.

00:10:41.260 --> 00:10:43.260
I mean, imagine this, eh?

00:10:43.260 --> 00:10:46.260
We think God is prohibitive.

00:10:46.260 --> 00:10:51.260
When you actually look at the nature of God, there's nothing prohibitive about him.

00:10:51.260 --> 00:10:54.260
He's not a God who puts restrictions.

00:10:54.260 --> 00:10:59.260
If you want to see the nature of God, go to the first 11 chapters of the Bible and you

00:10:59.260 --> 00:11:01.260
will kind of see his nature.

00:11:01.260 --> 00:11:04.260
Go to the first three chapters of the Bible and you'll see his nature.

00:11:04.260 --> 00:11:05.260
And what's his nature?

00:11:05.260 --> 00:11:09.260
Listen, everything I have created is for your good.

00:11:09.260 --> 00:11:10.260
Everything.

00:11:10.260 --> 00:11:12.260
You can access anything you want.

00:11:12.260 --> 00:11:15.260
And then he says there's this one tree that I don't want you to eat out of.

00:11:15.260 --> 00:11:21.260
Not because it was some kind of tree that had some special tasty fruit on it.

00:11:21.260 --> 00:11:23.260
Yes, he called it the tree of life.

00:11:23.260 --> 00:11:28.260
But it was a name given because he wanted Adam to know, listen, I don't want you to follow me because I made you.

00:11:28.260 --> 00:11:30.260
I don't want you to follow me because I'm forcing you.

00:11:30.260 --> 00:11:32.260
I don't want you to follow me because I'm your creator.

00:11:32.260 --> 00:11:38.260
I want you to follow me because I've given you the most precious thing that I have, and that is free will.

00:11:38.260 --> 00:11:46.260
Free moral choice is something that is so precious to the heart of God that he will not violate it.

00:11:46.260 --> 00:11:53.260
And when I violate your free will as a pastor or a husband violates his wife's free will or a wife violates her husband's free will

00:11:53.260 --> 00:11:57.260
or you violate your children's free will once they get to a place where they can decide,

00:11:57.260 --> 00:12:02.260
you are doing something that even God doesn't do.

00:12:02.260 --> 00:12:07.260
And so he puts a tree in the garden and he says, listen, do not eat of this.

00:12:07.260 --> 00:12:12.260
You know, if we had not sinned, our Bible would be one verse thick.

00:12:12.260 --> 00:12:14.260
Right now we've got 66 books.

00:12:14.260 --> 00:12:18.260
We'd have just one verse, do not eat of this tree. That's all.

00:12:18.260 --> 00:12:21.260
I mean, that would be hard to preach out of, eh?

00:12:21.260 --> 00:12:25.260
You wouldn't have pastors, by the way.

00:12:25.260 --> 00:12:30.260
One, one, and how much Greek can you do with that one line?

00:12:30.260 --> 00:12:32.260
Do not eat of this tree.

00:12:32.260 --> 00:12:36.260
And so in giving him a choice, now Adam has freedom.

00:12:36.260 --> 00:12:40.260
He can either choose to say yes or choose to say no.

00:12:40.260 --> 00:12:47.260
And in giving him freedom, he can choose to love or he can choose not to love.

00:12:47.260 --> 00:12:50.260
And he chooses to disobey.

00:12:50.260 --> 00:12:53.260
He chooses not to follow God.

00:12:53.260 --> 00:12:56.260
He chooses to follow another voice that he knows is not God.

00:12:56.260 --> 00:12:59.260
And this voice is a strange voice.

00:12:59.260 --> 00:13:02.260
This voice is an alluring voice. It draws you.

00:13:02.260 --> 00:13:04.260
But it is a strange voice.

00:13:04.260 --> 00:13:07.260
He knows the sound of God. How do we know that?

00:13:07.260 --> 00:13:13.260
Because it says in Genesis 1 that Adam would begin to walk with God in the cool of the evening.

00:13:13.260 --> 00:13:15.260
How did they even communicate?

00:13:15.260 --> 00:13:19.260
Was it words? Was it just knowing?

00:13:19.260 --> 00:13:22.260
That he would walk with the God that made him.

00:13:22.260 --> 00:13:26.260
Because he could walk with God face to face.

00:13:26.260 --> 00:13:28.260
Because he hadn't sinned.

00:13:28.260 --> 00:13:33.260
There was nothing that prevented him from conversing with, having face to face communion with the living God.

00:13:33.260 --> 00:13:34.260
Why can't we do it?

00:13:34.260 --> 00:13:39.260
Because it says God lives in such unapproachable light because of his ridiculous holiness

00:13:39.260 --> 00:13:44.260
that we in our decaying sinful condition cannot even see him face to face.

00:13:44.260 --> 00:13:49.260
So much so that God had to literally hide Moses so that Moses doesn't see his face.

00:13:49.260 --> 00:13:54.260
And yet here is a man who had the thrill of talking to him face to face.

00:13:54.260 --> 00:13:57.260
And then he goes after a strange voice.

00:13:57.260 --> 00:14:00.260
And here's the crazy thing guys.

00:14:00.260 --> 00:14:06.260
He did not even know what evil was so he wasn't being tempted like you and I are being tempted.

00:14:06.260 --> 00:14:09.260
We struggle with temptation every day.

00:14:09.260 --> 00:14:11.260
We know what evil is.

00:14:11.260 --> 00:14:17.260
Evil has a quality to it. It has a lure to it. It entitles you.

00:14:17.260 --> 00:14:21.260
Adam did not even know what evil was.

00:14:21.260 --> 00:14:24.260
He only knew choice.

00:14:24.260 --> 00:14:29.260
And he chooses. And the moment he chooses, he becomes aware of evil.

00:14:31.260 --> 00:14:36.260
Till then, he didn't have anything called doubt.

00:14:36.260 --> 00:14:42.260
Till then, he didn't succumb to the flux of reason.

00:14:42.260 --> 00:14:46.260
Till then, the guy never knew what guilt is.

00:14:46.260 --> 00:14:53.260
Till then, neither he nor Eve knew what it was to feel shame.

00:14:53.260 --> 00:14:58.260
One of the reasons they walked around naked is they didn't understand lust.

00:14:58.260 --> 00:15:01.260
They didn't understand evil. They didn't understand shame.

00:15:01.260 --> 00:15:04.260
They had never cried.

00:15:04.260 --> 00:15:08.260
We don't know how many days have passed now before the fall happens.

00:15:08.260 --> 00:15:10.260
But they haven't even wept.

00:15:10.260 --> 00:15:13.260
They do not know what it is to feel sad.

00:15:13.260 --> 00:15:15.260
They don't understand it.

00:15:15.260 --> 00:15:21.260
Now you can see why Plan B is so brilliant because what does it say in Revelation 22?

00:15:21.260 --> 00:15:25.260
A time is coming when there will be no crying, no tears, no sorrow.

00:15:25.260 --> 00:15:26.260
What's God doing?

00:15:26.260 --> 00:15:28.260
This is what I wanted in Eden.

00:15:28.260 --> 00:15:33.260
All God is doing throughout history is he is restoring Eden.

00:15:36.260 --> 00:15:38.260
They didn't know what it was to feel sad.

00:15:38.260 --> 00:15:39.260
They didn't know all this.

00:15:39.260 --> 00:15:44.260
And this man who didn't know what evil was decides to choose.

00:15:44.260 --> 00:15:46.260
He and his wife both decided to choose.

00:15:46.260 --> 00:15:50.260
And in his choice, he suddenly becomes aware of evil.

00:15:50.260 --> 00:15:59.260
That is why God says to him, I cannot let you access this tree anymore.

00:15:59.260 --> 00:16:04.260
Because if I let you eat of this tree now, because it's a tree of life, right?

00:16:04.260 --> 00:16:09.260
You eat of this tree, you will live forever and there is no redemption for you.

00:16:14.260 --> 00:16:20.260
And so he puts an angel in front of the tree so that the tree is guarded from being accessed.

00:16:20.260 --> 00:16:27.260
Because let's assume your nose starts running forever.

00:16:27.260 --> 00:16:30.260
And a doctor comes and says, eat this and you'll never die.

00:16:30.260 --> 00:16:33.260
Imagine living for the rest of your life, it's not coming out of your nose.

00:16:34.260 --> 00:16:36.260
Not a fun way to live, right?

00:16:37.260 --> 00:16:39.260
And that's literally what's happening here.

00:16:39.260 --> 00:16:44.260
Adam's being told, listen, you eat this, you'll live on forever and there is no hope for you.

00:16:44.260 --> 00:16:48.260
But I had already told you that if you access this fruit, you will die.

00:16:48.260 --> 00:16:50.260
What does he mean by that? We'll talk about that.

00:16:50.260 --> 00:16:52.260
But any other questions on this?

00:16:52.260 --> 00:16:54.260
Can you see how the story develops?

00:16:54.260 --> 00:16:56.260
It's so brilliant.

00:16:56.260 --> 00:16:59.260
He's telling a story.

00:16:59.260 --> 00:17:06.260
And he knows before he creates the world that his son will have to be involved because God knows everything.

00:17:06.260 --> 00:17:08.260
And yet he doesn't take away your free will.

00:17:08.260 --> 00:17:11.260
Guys, just want to touch on free will before we move on.

00:17:11.260 --> 00:17:20.260
God loves your free will so much that he will not violate it to the point that he knows you may reject him.

00:17:22.260 --> 00:17:27.260
But he would rather give you the free will to say, get out Jesus.

00:17:27.260 --> 00:17:30.260
Don't believe in you, don't trust you, don't want you, out with you.

00:17:30.260 --> 00:17:41.260
He'd rather have you choose to reject him and find yourself after you die in a place where God does not exist

00:17:41.260 --> 00:17:46.260
than force you or bend your will to receive him.

00:17:46.260 --> 00:17:48.260
That's how much he loves free will.

00:17:49.260 --> 00:17:50.260
And here's the other part of it.

00:17:50.260 --> 00:17:51.260
So that's one side of it.

00:17:51.260 --> 00:17:54.260
You may say, but God should not give us that kind of free will.

00:17:54.260 --> 00:17:55.260
But here's the crazy thing.

00:17:55.260 --> 00:18:01.260
He knew that if he gave you free will, he would also have to send his son to die for you.

00:18:03.260 --> 00:18:07.260
Because he knew that if he gave you free will, you might choose evil, you might sin.

00:18:07.260 --> 00:18:16.260
And if you sin, there is no way back to God unless God comes down as a man and dies a very cruel, very cruel death.

00:18:16.260 --> 00:18:18.260
We'll talk about that later.

00:18:20.260 --> 00:18:23.260
How dare I violate your free will then?

00:18:23.260 --> 00:18:27.260
You must be given the choice to reject.

00:18:27.260 --> 00:18:32.260
There might be consequences to rejection, but you must always be given the choice to reject and walk away.

00:18:32.260 --> 00:18:40.260
Part of the reason we allow questions in the middle of teaching here is so that you can ask questions free will.

00:18:40.260 --> 00:18:41.260
Yeah, till the child.

00:18:41.260 --> 00:18:51.260
The crazy thing with parents and boundaries for children is you are supposed to set boundaries for children till they come to an age where they realize that this is wrong and this is right.

00:18:51.260 --> 00:19:00.260
But a time comes when if you haven't taught a child to learn how to make choices inside, that child grows up to be an adult.

00:19:00.260 --> 00:19:05.260
That will keep making wrong choices as soon as you remove the blinders or remove restrictions.

00:19:05.260 --> 00:19:10.260
If we don't teach our children how to govern themselves from inside as they come into maturity,

00:19:10.260 --> 00:19:18.260
the only way to keep man obeying things is by putting restrictions or putting threats or putting consequences.

00:19:18.260 --> 00:19:20.260
And that's what the church tries to.

00:19:20.260 --> 00:19:21.260
Don't do that.

00:19:21.260 --> 00:19:26.260
Otherwise, God, I mean, when you were growing up in Sunday school, what would happen to you if you did wrong?

00:19:26.260 --> 00:19:35.260
Either Daniel's line would eat you or Jonah's veil would swallow you or Shadrach, Meshe, Kabeir, Nago would escape, but you would die in the fire.

00:19:35.260 --> 00:19:37.260
Or one of those things would happen.

00:19:37.260 --> 00:19:38.260
You would be killed.

00:19:38.260 --> 00:19:39.260
You would be killed.

00:19:39.260 --> 00:19:40.260
You would be killed.

00:19:40.260 --> 00:19:41.260
You would be killed.

00:19:41.260 --> 00:19:42.260
You would be killed.

00:19:42.260 --> 00:19:43.260
You would be killed.

00:19:43.260 --> 00:19:44.260
You would be killed.

00:19:44.260 --> 00:19:45.260
You would be killed.

00:19:46.260 --> 00:19:48.260
Or one of those things would happen, right?

00:19:48.260 --> 00:19:54.260
I mean, I was sure I would be taking a shower and look around to see if Jonah's veil was around.

00:19:54.260 --> 00:19:59.260
And then after you saw the movie Jaws, it got worse.

00:19:59.260 --> 00:20:08.260
So have you noticed how Texas has death capital punishment?

00:20:08.260 --> 00:20:12.260
They have death sentences for murder, for stuff like that.

00:20:12.260 --> 00:20:17.260
But have you also noticed how Texas still has a high murder rate?

00:20:17.260 --> 00:20:25.260
Threat, consequence, fear will never cause humans to stop doing what they're doing.

00:20:25.260 --> 00:20:34.260
Have you noticed how bright the cigarette packages carry the message saying, cigarette smoking is so injurious to your health?

00:20:34.260 --> 00:20:35.260
It didn't work.

00:20:35.260 --> 00:20:39.260
Then they started putting what will happen to your lungs on cigarette packets.

00:20:39.260 --> 00:20:41.260
Even that doesn't work.

00:20:41.260 --> 00:20:42.260
Why is that?

00:20:42.260 --> 00:20:46.260
Because man does not respond to fear.

00:20:46.260 --> 00:20:47.260
Why?

00:20:47.260 --> 00:20:51.260
Because we were not made to respond to fear.

00:20:51.260 --> 00:20:53.260
That was not how God made us.

00:20:53.260 --> 00:20:58.260
There are still things in us that are so God.

00:20:58.260 --> 00:21:00.260
Because after all, we are made in His image.

00:21:00.260 --> 00:21:01.260
It's distorted.

00:21:01.260 --> 00:21:07.260
But my God, there are parts of us that still have certain ways of functioning that are still God.

00:21:08.260 --> 00:21:12.260
So to go back to your question, shouldn't parents put boundaries?

00:21:12.260 --> 00:21:17.260
Yes, as a child grows into maturity, boundaries should be put so that the child doesn't err.

00:21:17.260 --> 00:21:28.260
But every religion, including unfortunately Christianity, keeps its people walking the straight line by putting restrictions, boundaries that God doesn't put.

00:21:29.260 --> 00:21:33.260
Are there any boundaries that are protected?

00:21:33.260 --> 00:21:37.260
Yes, just one boundary that God has that protects us, love.

00:21:37.260 --> 00:21:42.260
This is a revolutionary part of this religion.

00:21:42.260 --> 00:21:47.260
The only boundary that keeps me locked onto God is love.

00:21:47.260 --> 00:21:53.260
The only way to walk with God is to increasingly like Him.

00:21:53.260 --> 00:22:05.260
Why does a man who lived a life that was promiscuous meet this amazing woman that just messes his life up and suddenly he walks straight?

00:22:05.260 --> 00:22:07.260
How come he doesn't go to a nightclub anymore?

00:22:07.260 --> 00:22:09.260
How come he doesn't go to a bar?

00:22:09.260 --> 00:22:11.260
How come he doesn't go to a bar?

00:22:11.260 --> 00:22:14.260
How come he wears his ring and keeps doing this so everybody knows he's married?

00:22:14.260 --> 00:22:16.260
How come he takes his wife everywhere?

00:22:16.260 --> 00:22:18.260
What happens to him?

00:22:18.260 --> 00:22:20.260
He falls in love.

00:22:20.260 --> 00:22:21.260
And what happens then?

00:22:21.260 --> 00:22:23.260
Everything else falls by the wayside.

00:22:23.260 --> 00:22:25.260
His wife doesn't have to worry about where's he?

00:22:25.260 --> 00:22:26.260
Why is he working late?

00:22:26.260 --> 00:22:27.260
Where's he gone?

00:22:27.260 --> 00:22:28.260
Doesn't worry about it.

00:22:28.260 --> 00:22:29.260
Why?

00:22:29.260 --> 00:22:34.260
Because she knows that this man has a fidelity to me that is simply because of his allegiance.

00:22:34.260 --> 00:22:37.260
When that happens, you don't have to worry.

00:22:37.260 --> 00:22:41.260
Until that happens, you have to spy on the person.

00:22:41.260 --> 00:22:43.260
Where did you go?

00:22:43.260 --> 00:22:47.260
I smelled something on your shirt.

00:22:47.260 --> 00:22:48.260
That's how this works.

00:22:48.260 --> 00:22:53.260
Now, you can't just go to a nightclub and say, oh, I'm going to go to a bar, but I'm going to do this.

00:22:53.260 --> 00:22:55.260
You can't just do this.

00:22:55.260 --> 00:22:57.260
You can't just do this.

00:22:57.260 --> 00:22:59.260
You can't just do this.

00:22:59.260 --> 00:23:01.260
You can't just do this.

00:23:02.260 --> 00:23:04.260
That's how this works.

00:23:04.260 --> 00:23:09.260
The only restriction that Christ actually imposes on the church is one simple thing.

00:23:09.260 --> 00:23:12.260
Can you see now why he's asking Peter the question?

00:23:12.260 --> 00:23:15.260
Peter, do you love me?

00:23:15.260 --> 00:23:16.260
Feed my sheep.

00:23:16.260 --> 00:23:18.260
Peter, do you love me?

00:23:18.260 --> 00:23:19.260
Tend my lambs.

00:23:19.260 --> 00:23:21.260
Peter, do you love me?

00:23:21.260 --> 00:23:22.260
That's all he needs.

00:23:22.260 --> 00:23:29.260
If he has that from my heart, sin never goes away unless you love him more than the sin.

00:23:30.260 --> 00:23:31.260
We'll get there.

00:23:31.260 --> 00:23:37.260
Sin does not go away till you love something more than sin.

00:23:37.260 --> 00:23:40.260
No way sin will go otherwise.

00:23:44.260 --> 00:23:45.260
Crazy, eh?

00:23:45.260 --> 00:23:47.260
This is not how we live our Christianity.

00:23:47.260 --> 00:23:52.260
We live our Christianity by having grown-ups swallowed by Jonah the whale.

00:23:52.260 --> 00:23:55.260
Okay, so how did God make us?

00:23:55.260 --> 00:23:57.260
He gave us a body.

00:23:57.260 --> 00:24:00.260
He gave us a soul.

00:24:00.260 --> 00:24:03.260
And he gave us a spirit.

00:24:03.260 --> 00:24:05.260
We are three-part beings.

00:24:05.260 --> 00:24:07.260
Where does it say so in the Bible?

00:24:07.260 --> 00:24:11.260
1 Thessalonians 5.23 talks about body, soul and spirit.

00:24:11.260 --> 00:24:12.260
There are other places too.

00:24:12.260 --> 00:24:18.260
One of the obvious places is 1 Thessalonians 5.23 talks about how man is a three-part being.

00:24:18.260 --> 00:24:20.260
Body, soul and spirit.

00:24:20.260 --> 00:24:21.260
That's how God made Adam.

00:24:21.260 --> 00:24:23.260
That's how you are made too.

00:24:23.260 --> 00:24:25.260
That's how Jesus was made too.

00:24:25.260 --> 00:24:33.260
So for our definition, the body is our earth suit, this physical body.

00:24:33.260 --> 00:24:34.260
That's what we're talking about.

00:24:34.260 --> 00:24:35.260
Yeah?

00:24:35.260 --> 00:24:40.260
The soul is the realm of thinking and feeling.

00:24:40.260 --> 00:24:47.260
The soul is the realm of thinking and feeling.

00:24:47.260 --> 00:24:53.260
The realm of thinking, feeling.

00:24:53.260 --> 00:24:58.260
And then there's the spirit.

00:24:58.260 --> 00:25:19.260
The spirit is the essence of who you are and carries your unique personality.

00:25:19.260 --> 00:25:24.260
That's how we need to look at body, soul and spirit.

00:25:24.260 --> 00:25:25.260
Yeah?

00:25:25.260 --> 00:25:30.260
Now, animals don't have a spirit.

00:25:30.260 --> 00:25:37.260
A dog doesn't get up every morning and say, I've got to make really good moral decisions today.

00:25:37.260 --> 00:25:39.260
Neither does a cockroach.

00:25:39.260 --> 00:25:40.260
Yeah?

00:25:40.260 --> 00:25:41.260
They don't have a spirit.

00:25:41.260 --> 00:25:42.260
They have a body.

00:25:42.260 --> 00:25:43.260
They have a soul.

00:25:43.260 --> 00:25:45.260
And cockroaches don't even have blood.

00:25:45.260 --> 00:25:48.260
Like, at least they don't have red blood corpuscles.

00:25:48.260 --> 00:25:52.260
Yaya came to me and said, are you a zoologist?

00:25:52.260 --> 00:25:55.260
And so I was going to say no.

00:25:55.260 --> 00:25:59.260
And then I remembered I did zoology for my undergrad.

00:25:59.260 --> 00:26:00.260
Yeah?

00:26:00.260 --> 00:26:03.260
So when I say cockroaches don't have red blood corpuscles, it is the truth.

00:26:03.260 --> 00:26:05.260
Yeah?

00:26:05.260 --> 00:26:09.260
So body, soul, spirit.

00:26:09.260 --> 00:26:10.260
The soul is your thinking and feeling.

00:26:10.260 --> 00:26:12.260
The spirit is the essence of who you are.

00:26:12.260 --> 00:26:14.260
The body is just your physical body.

00:26:14.260 --> 00:26:15.260
Yeah?

00:26:15.260 --> 00:26:17.260
Animals don't have a spirit.

00:26:17.260 --> 00:26:18.260
Humans do.

00:26:18.260 --> 00:26:21.260
Which is why reincarnation falls flat on its face.

00:26:21.260 --> 00:26:26.260
Man cannot be reincarnated as an animal because the essence of man is the spirit.

00:26:26.260 --> 00:26:28.260
I come from India.

00:26:28.260 --> 00:26:38.260
I had a life that was steeped in transcendental mediation, drugs, and reading Zen and the art of motorcycle maintenance.

00:26:38.260 --> 00:26:41.260
It's a brilliant book on Buddhism and stuff like that.

00:26:42.260 --> 00:26:49.260
But the point is this, that at the end of the day, this idea of karma and reincarnation is not possible

00:26:49.260 --> 00:26:56.260
because humans have the distinct difference of possessing spirits, the essence of who we are.

00:26:56.260 --> 00:26:59.260
Your body changes, eh?

00:26:59.260 --> 00:27:01.260
Your body changes.

00:27:01.260 --> 00:27:03.260
You didn't look like this 10 years ago.

00:27:03.260 --> 00:27:05.260
Your soul changes.

00:27:05.260 --> 00:27:07.260
Your soul changes from morning to evening.

00:27:07.260 --> 00:27:08.260
Your thinking and feeling changes.

00:27:08.260 --> 00:27:09.260
Your feelings change.

00:27:09.260 --> 00:27:14.260
Well, the one thing that maintains your essence is your spirit.

00:27:14.260 --> 00:27:16.260
That this is who Pavan is.

00:27:16.260 --> 00:27:17.260
This is who Priyanka is.

00:27:17.260 --> 00:27:18.260
This is who Janelle is.

00:27:18.260 --> 00:27:20.260
When she was small, she was this way.

00:27:20.260 --> 00:27:22.260
And when she's big, she's...

00:27:22.260 --> 00:27:25.260
The essence of your spirit stays the same.

00:27:27.260 --> 00:27:29.260
It's...

00:27:29.260 --> 00:27:31.260
Animals don't have that, eh?

00:27:31.260 --> 00:27:38.260
And so to be reincarnated as a dog because your karma was bad is just absurd.

00:27:38.260 --> 00:27:43.260
It's false.

00:27:43.260 --> 00:27:48.260
And so every man is made this way.

00:27:48.260 --> 00:27:49.260
So Adam was made this way too.

00:27:49.260 --> 00:27:50.260
Adam had a body.

00:27:50.260 --> 00:27:51.260
Adam had a soul.

00:27:51.260 --> 00:27:52.260
Adam had a spirit.

00:27:52.260 --> 00:27:55.260
Adam's body was never supposed to die.

00:27:55.260 --> 00:27:57.260
Death was never God's plan.

00:27:57.260 --> 00:28:00.260
This is a story.

00:28:00.260 --> 00:28:02.260
Death was never God's plan.

00:28:02.260 --> 00:28:04.260
No man was supposed to die.

00:28:04.260 --> 00:28:06.260
No woman was supposed to die.

00:28:06.260 --> 00:28:08.260
Death was never in the equation.

00:28:08.260 --> 00:28:14.260
How can death be in the equation when God is a God of life?

00:28:14.260 --> 00:28:16.260
Decay was never part of the equation.

00:28:16.260 --> 00:28:18.260
And so you got...

00:28:18.260 --> 00:28:23.260
When Adam was born, his body was without decay.

00:28:23.260 --> 00:28:25.260
It could not get diseases.

00:28:25.260 --> 00:28:27.260
There was nothing that...

00:28:27.260 --> 00:28:29.260
You couldn't get allergies.

00:28:29.260 --> 00:28:31.260
Everything in creation was made for your good.

00:28:31.260 --> 00:28:33.260
There was nothing that was negative.

00:28:33.260 --> 00:28:34.260
There was nothing that was harmful.

00:28:34.260 --> 00:28:36.260
There were no virus, no bacteria.

00:28:36.260 --> 00:28:38.260
And if there were, they were meant to help you.

00:28:38.260 --> 00:28:40.260
They're not supposed to harm you.

00:28:40.260 --> 00:28:45.260
It is a perfect world and that's what we're heading to when Christ recreates Eden.

00:28:45.260 --> 00:28:49.260
This is what he's inviting the whole world into.

00:28:49.260 --> 00:28:51.260
He's not inviting you into Christianity.

00:28:51.260 --> 00:28:55.260
He's inviting you into, hey, this is why I made you.

00:28:55.260 --> 00:28:57.260
I just want you to return to this.

00:28:57.260 --> 00:28:59.260
There is no pathway besides Christ.

00:28:59.260 --> 00:29:01.260
So come through Christ.

00:29:01.260 --> 00:29:02.260
He was not...

00:29:02.260 --> 00:29:03.260
No man was supposed to die.

00:29:03.260 --> 00:29:05.260
You were not supposed to die.

00:29:05.260 --> 00:29:09.260
His body would not die.

00:29:09.260 --> 00:29:19.260
His soul, like we said earlier, did not know shame, did not know fear, did not know guilt, did not know sorrow.

00:29:19.260 --> 00:29:30.260
It only had things that were laughter, that was honor, that was dignity, that was worth, that was security, that was joyful.

00:29:30.260 --> 00:29:31.260
There was nothing negative about it.

00:29:31.260 --> 00:29:43.260
Can you imagine spending six hours, six hours, eh, without shame, guilt, sadness, negative thoughts?

00:29:43.260 --> 00:29:45.260
Six hours is too much.

00:29:45.260 --> 00:29:49.260
Can you try two hours?

00:29:49.260 --> 00:29:52.260
It's crazy, man, what we lost.

00:29:52.260 --> 00:29:55.260
And it's crazy what's being restored.

00:29:55.260 --> 00:30:02.260
And it's going to be restored for not 10 years, not 50 years, not a thousand years, not 10,000 years, not 30,000 years.

00:30:02.260 --> 00:30:09.260
This blip here on earth is our redemption slot.

00:30:09.260 --> 00:30:12.260
This ain't life.

00:30:12.260 --> 00:30:15.260
This is when you're between flights at an airport.

00:30:15.260 --> 00:30:18.260
Layovers are not always fun.

00:30:18.260 --> 00:30:27.260
Try to get the best lounge, and the best lounge is the church and Christianity.

00:30:27.260 --> 00:30:33.260
Yeah, everything gets renewed.

00:30:33.260 --> 00:30:36.260
New bodies, new soul, new spirit.

00:30:36.260 --> 00:30:41.260
And at different times during our history, things get renewed.

00:30:41.260 --> 00:30:42.260
It's this amazing story.

00:30:42.260 --> 00:30:47.260
His spirit, Adam's spirit, was without a guile.

00:30:47.260 --> 00:30:48.260
There was no deception.

00:30:48.260 --> 00:30:50.260
It was innocent.

00:30:50.260 --> 00:30:53.260
Adam's spirit was innocent.

00:30:53.260 --> 00:30:54.260
There was no guile.

00:30:54.260 --> 00:30:56.260
There was no deception.

00:30:56.260 --> 00:30:58.260
There was no ulterior motives.

00:30:58.260 --> 00:30:59.260
It was innocent.

00:30:59.260 --> 00:31:02.260
It was pure, and it was innocent.

00:31:02.260 --> 00:31:04.260
And so what happens when he sins?

00:31:04.260 --> 00:31:07.260
When he sins, look what happens.

00:31:07.260 --> 00:31:09.260
His body begins to die.

00:31:09.260 --> 00:31:15.260
As soon as he sins, the body begins to decay.

00:31:15.260 --> 00:31:19.260
As soon as he sins, for the first time in his life, he feels shame.

00:31:19.260 --> 00:31:21.260
He feels guilt.

00:31:21.260 --> 00:31:23.260
He feels fear.

00:31:23.260 --> 00:31:24.260
He begins to hide.

00:31:24.260 --> 00:31:29.260
You can't even imagine what Adam felt once he and Eve ate that apple.

00:31:29.260 --> 00:31:32.260
They must have been so freaked out, eh?

00:31:32.260 --> 00:31:36.260
Because they've never felt shame.

00:31:36.260 --> 00:31:40.260
It's the same feeling that Jesus felt on the cross when he calls out,

00:31:41.260 --> 00:31:43.260
My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?

00:31:43.260 --> 00:31:46.260
Because Jesus has never felt forsaken ever.

00:31:46.260 --> 00:31:50.260
And then for that instant he realizes, oh shucks, even my father's not here.

00:31:50.260 --> 00:31:53.260
It's the same thing that Adam and Eve are going through.

00:31:53.260 --> 00:31:55.260
What is this thing called shame?

00:31:55.260 --> 00:31:56.260
What is this thing called guilt?

00:31:56.260 --> 00:31:58.260
It is ruining me.

00:31:58.260 --> 00:32:00.260
And they go and hide.

00:32:00.260 --> 00:32:05.260
The same man who used to bound up to meet God when he would hear him in the garden

00:32:05.260 --> 00:32:10.260
now is hiding because he hears God coming.

00:32:10.260 --> 00:32:12.260
Fear.

00:32:12.260 --> 00:32:13.260
It's terrible, man.

00:32:13.260 --> 00:32:15.260
And why am I going into details?

00:32:15.260 --> 00:32:20.260
Because as believers, we are supposed to begin to show the world that there's another way to live.

00:32:20.260 --> 00:32:25.260
You must try because of Christ in you, which we'll talk about,

00:32:25.260 --> 00:32:28.260
to show the world that it is possible not to be afraid.

00:32:28.260 --> 00:32:32.260
It is possible not to walk in shame and guilt.

00:32:32.260 --> 00:32:38.260
The first thing that Jesus restores to a Christian is you are restored, you are forgiven.

00:32:38.260 --> 00:32:42.260
Stop blooming, walking around under so much condemnation and guilt.

00:32:48.260 --> 00:32:51.260
Because sometimes we look as sour as the world,

00:32:51.260 --> 00:32:54.260
but the great thing is in the world you can sin and be sour.

00:32:54.260 --> 00:32:57.260
As a Christian you can't even do that. It's worse, man.

00:33:02.260 --> 00:33:13.260
So, he sins and suddenly his spirit, which is innocent and pure, becomes contaminated, polluted, defiled.

00:33:13.260 --> 00:33:16.260
He can't communicate with God. He's hiding.

00:33:16.260 --> 00:33:23.260
And from that moment on, every human being that is born has a body that dies,

00:33:23.260 --> 00:33:31.260
has feelings and thoughts that are negative, has a spirit that is polluted and cannot communicate with God.

00:33:31.260 --> 00:33:38.260
How is it that a two-year-old knows how to pull a one-year-old's hair?

00:33:38.260 --> 00:33:42.260
How is it that a two-year-old knows how to be jealous?

00:33:42.260 --> 00:33:48.260
Do you think the parents sit, Hamari and Remy sat down, Yaya and Judah, and said,

00:33:48.260 --> 00:33:53.260
you're two years old now, we want to teach you what it is to be jealous, selfish, we want to teach you how to fight.

00:33:53.260 --> 00:33:55.260
Did they do that?

00:33:55.260 --> 00:34:00.260
If they didn't do that, how is it that sometimes your kids do that, right?

00:34:00.260 --> 00:34:04.260
All the time. I was being kind.

00:34:04.260 --> 00:34:11.260
Sometimes how is it that a two-year-old learns how to fight, learns how to be jealous, learns how to be angry.

00:34:11.260 --> 00:34:20.260
Who teaches this child? It's not by watching, because parents in the first few years usually hide all their arguments behind a closed door.

00:34:20.260 --> 00:34:23.260
So, it's not through watching. How is it that they learn it?

00:34:23.260 --> 00:34:30.260
Because every human being is born with a contaminated spirit and negative thoughts right off the bat.

00:34:30.260 --> 00:34:33.260
That's how we grow up.

00:34:33.260 --> 00:34:37.260
Go ahead.

00:34:37.260 --> 00:34:49.260
Yeah, that's the best way grown-ups can explain it away.

00:34:49.260 --> 00:34:54.260
It's a general fallen nature of man.

00:34:54.260 --> 00:34:57.260
It's a general fallen nature of man.

00:34:57.260 --> 00:35:01.260
No. No. No.

00:35:01.260 --> 00:35:05.260
The child hasn't even had the time to learn it.

00:35:05.260 --> 00:35:10.260
I mean, we can't blame a two-year-old for some generational thing that is happening in the family.

00:35:10.260 --> 00:35:16.260
The child hasn't even had time to develop stuff.

00:35:16.260 --> 00:35:25.260
Any questions?

00:35:25.260 --> 00:35:30.260
Any questions, guys?

00:35:30.260 --> 00:35:34.260
So, we are born with the DNA of sin.

00:35:34.260 --> 00:35:41.260
Ever since Adam sinned, we are born with the DNA of sin in us.

00:35:41.260 --> 00:35:47.260
Which is why in the Hebrews it says, not in Hebrews, in Corinthians it says,

00:35:47.260 --> 00:35:53.260
through one man, sin came into the world, and through one man, it has been removed.

00:35:53.260 --> 00:35:58.260
So, every person that is born, every child that is born, is born.

00:35:58.260 --> 00:36:03.260
This is why David says in Psalm 51, I was conceived in sin.

00:36:03.260 --> 00:36:07.260
Like, right off the bat, I was born in sin.

00:36:07.260 --> 00:36:12.260
I don't know how to reach out to God.

00:36:12.260 --> 00:36:14.260
This is the condition of man.

00:36:14.260 --> 00:36:16.260
And now you see why Christ came.

00:36:16.260 --> 00:36:23.260
Guys, any questions on that before we go on?

00:36:23.260 --> 00:36:25.260
That's why God had to come.

00:36:25.260 --> 00:36:27.260
Through one man, mankind is committed.

00:36:27.260 --> 00:36:29.260
This is what happens in families, eh?

00:36:29.260 --> 00:36:35.260
It's called the representative principle.

00:36:35.260 --> 00:36:41.260
You'll see this so many times where one person in the family does something,

00:36:41.260 --> 00:36:45.260
and the whole family suffers.

00:36:45.260 --> 00:36:47.260
In our case, it was Adam.

00:36:47.260 --> 00:36:51.260
And you might say, man, if Adam had behaved himself, we wouldn't be in this condition.

00:36:51.260 --> 00:36:55.260
Then perhaps you may have fallen.

00:36:55.260 --> 00:36:57.260
God knew this was going to happen at some point.

00:36:57.260 --> 00:37:00.260
I mean, I would really like to go up to Adam and I'd see him and say,

00:37:00.260 --> 00:37:03.260
boy, you sure ruined it for us.

00:37:03.260 --> 00:37:07.260
And he'd say, I did it so that you don't get all the blame.

00:37:07.260 --> 00:37:10.260
I'm kidding. It's not Bible. I'm just imagining.

00:37:10.260 --> 00:37:15.260
So, here's the thing, guys.

00:37:15.260 --> 00:37:25.260
There's, this is critically, there's something called sin being, sorry,

00:37:25.260 --> 00:37:33.260
there's something called sin doing, and there's something called sin being.

00:37:33.260 --> 00:37:36.260
It's important that we understand the difference between this,

00:37:36.260 --> 00:37:46.260
because it is the reason why Christianity is distinct from every other religion in the world.

00:37:46.260 --> 00:37:52.260
Sin doing is when someone commits the action of sin.

00:37:52.260 --> 00:37:54.260
You do something that is sinful. It's called sin doing.

00:37:54.260 --> 00:37:58.260
You do sin. You act out sin.

00:37:58.260 --> 00:38:06.260
Every religion in the world has a solution for sin doing.

00:38:06.260 --> 00:38:12.260
Hinduism, sacrifices, take a bath in the Ganges, sins can be removed.

00:38:12.260 --> 00:38:18.260
Buddhism, go through a process of meditation,

00:38:18.260 --> 00:38:26.260
and it is possible to get to a place where you, your good karma outweighs your bad karma,

00:38:26.260 --> 00:38:31.260
and you attain nirvana and become one with the atma, parmatma.

00:38:31.260 --> 00:38:39.260
Judaism, Yahweh, if he's appeased with sacrifices, may one day forgive you.

00:38:39.260 --> 00:38:45.260
Catholicism, come, say a few prayers, say a few penances,

00:38:45.260 --> 00:38:49.260
go through certain processes, and your sins will be forgiven you.

00:38:49.260 --> 00:38:51.260
Sin actions will be forgiven you.

00:38:51.260 --> 00:38:53.260
Jainism is the same.

00:38:53.260 --> 00:38:59.260
Islam, follow these different five principles, go to Mecca, perform hajj,

00:38:59.260 --> 00:39:02.260
and it is possible that Allah may forgive you.

00:39:02.260 --> 00:39:04.260
Pavan was talking about that yesterday.

00:39:04.260 --> 00:39:07.260
May forgive you. There's no guarantee.

00:39:07.260 --> 00:39:12.260
There is not a religion in the world that does not give you a process

00:39:12.260 --> 00:39:17.260
or some solution for removing the sin action.

00:39:17.260 --> 00:39:25.260
Well, what do you do when the DNA of a corrupt spirit is written into the very core of your being?

00:39:25.260 --> 00:39:28.260
Who will deal with a sin being?

00:39:28.260 --> 00:39:33.260
Sin doing can be dealt with. Sin being, what do you do?

00:39:33.260 --> 00:39:38.260
There's not a religion in the world that deals with the sin being.

00:39:38.260 --> 00:39:45.260
The part of you that your mother gave birth to that just knows how to sin without even being taught, why?

00:39:45.260 --> 00:39:50.260
Because you have inherited what Adam passed down.

00:39:50.260 --> 00:39:54.260
I often use this ridiculous illustration.

00:39:54.260 --> 00:39:57.260
Imagine, who shall we pick on today?

00:39:57.260 --> 00:40:04.260
Imagine Pavan, because I've been drumming him up a little, time to level things off.

00:40:04.260 --> 00:40:08.260
So imagine Pavan has a problem.

00:40:08.260 --> 00:40:14.260
Pavan feels thirsty at night, and he just drinks water.

00:40:14.260 --> 00:40:21.260
But regardless of how much water he drinks, he's very thirsty, so they decide to take him to a doctor.

00:40:21.260 --> 00:40:26.260
So they go to Dr. Anilay, and Dr., you're a doctor, right?

00:40:26.260 --> 00:40:29.260
You have a doctorate, right? Yes.

00:40:29.260 --> 00:40:36.260
So they take her to Dr. Anilay, and Dr. Anilay calls her assistant, Tuni, and says, put him on an x-ray machine.

00:40:36.260 --> 00:40:39.260
Because Tuni, you don't have a doctorate yet, right?

00:40:39.260 --> 00:40:44.260
Okay, so they put him on an x-ray machine.

00:40:44.260 --> 00:40:49.260
And when they put him on an x-ray machine, they realize what the problem is.

00:40:49.260 --> 00:40:52.260
And so Anilay comes out with that very serious doctor face.

00:40:52.260 --> 00:40:58.260
And Pavan looks at her and says, doctor, doctor, there's something wrong with me, right?

00:40:58.260 --> 00:41:00.260
And she makes this very profound statement.

00:41:00.260 --> 00:41:05.260
She says, Pavan, there's nothing wrong with you, but there's something wrong in you.

00:41:05.260 --> 00:41:07.260
And he says, what do you mean?

00:41:07.260 --> 00:41:11.260
She says, you've been eating your mattress at night, right?

00:41:11.260 --> 00:41:14.260
And Pavan says, yes, my bed has been growing smaller and smaller.

00:41:14.260 --> 00:41:21.260
So what has been happening is every night when Pavan feels hungry, he just consumes a portion of his mattress.

00:41:21.260 --> 00:41:26.260
And so inside him now is this large piece of sponge.

00:41:26.260 --> 00:41:31.260
And every time he drinks water, the sponge absorbs the water and so he's continuously thirsty.

00:41:31.260 --> 00:41:37.260
And so he says, so you are saying there's something wrong in me, not something wrong with me.

00:41:37.260 --> 00:41:40.260
And she says, yes. And she says, my assistant will take care of it.

00:41:40.260 --> 00:41:43.260
And so Pavan is taken, put on a bed.

00:41:43.260 --> 00:41:48.260
Tuni comes, rips him apart, pulls out the sponge and sews him back.

00:41:48.260 --> 00:41:51.260
And Pavan is suddenly back to normal.

00:41:51.260 --> 00:41:53.260
This is how it really is.

00:41:53.260 --> 00:41:56.260
Now, just erase that entire image from your mind.

00:41:56.260 --> 00:41:59.260
Let's get back.

00:41:59.260 --> 00:42:01.260
I don't know which image to get rid of.

00:42:01.260 --> 00:42:04.260
Tuni tearing him up and sewing him or the sponge in Pavan's stomach.

00:42:04.260 --> 00:42:08.260
But regardless, this is what has happened to us guys.

00:42:08.260 --> 00:42:13.260
Even the Old Testament used to take care of sin actions.

00:42:13.260 --> 00:42:15.260
How did the Old Testament take care of sin actions?

00:42:15.260 --> 00:42:21.260
Moses would prescribe, bring the blood of Bolzan, goats, sacrifice to Yahweh.

00:42:21.260 --> 00:42:24.260
And your sin actions will be taken care of.

00:42:24.260 --> 00:42:28.260
Sin actions are not what Christianity and Christ deals with.

00:42:28.260 --> 00:42:32.260
Christ comes to deal with the sponge inside of you.

00:42:32.260 --> 00:42:35.260
Christ comes to deal with the sponge inside of you.

00:42:35.260 --> 00:42:45.260
Saying you are defaulted to sin.

00:42:45.260 --> 00:43:00.260
If I don't remove that engine, you will continue sinning.

00:43:00.260 --> 00:43:03.260
And so Christ came to deal with this.

00:43:03.260 --> 00:43:06.260
Christ didn't come to deal with this.

00:43:06.260 --> 00:43:10.260
Crazy, eh?

00:43:10.260 --> 00:43:14.260
Any questions?

00:43:14.260 --> 00:43:18.260
Because the blood of Bolzan, goats was enough to deal with sin actions.

00:43:18.260 --> 00:43:22.260
You didn't need Christ to come.

00:43:22.260 --> 00:43:28.260
My job as a priest would be to get your chickens and goats every Sunday and slaughter them here.

00:43:28.260 --> 00:43:31.260
This blue carpet would be bloody red.

00:43:31.260 --> 00:43:34.260
Because some of you sin a lot.

00:43:34.260 --> 00:43:36.260
I'm just kidding.

00:43:36.260 --> 00:43:40.260
So the point being, this would be what it would be.

00:43:40.260 --> 00:43:44.260
But he didn't come to deal with sin doing, he came to deal with sin being.

00:43:44.260 --> 00:43:52.260
Any questions, guys?

00:43:52.260 --> 00:43:59.260
Which is why if you noticed, on Sunday we didn't say this is a prayer to give us clean hands and pure hearts.

00:43:59.260 --> 00:44:03.260
We're saying we want to give you clean hands and pure hearts.

00:44:03.260 --> 00:44:06.260
That what you have done for us, we want to give that back to you.

00:44:06.260 --> 00:44:09.260
We know what you've done.

00:44:09.260 --> 00:44:18.260
Give us clean hands and a pure heart is a prayer from the Old Testament.

00:44:18.260 --> 00:44:21.260
He wants us to talk to him about it.

00:44:21.260 --> 00:44:23.260
He's gotten rid of it.

00:44:23.260 --> 00:44:25.260
These are the crazy things about Christianity.

00:44:25.260 --> 00:44:29.260
There is, he has already gotten rid of.

00:44:29.260 --> 00:44:31.260
How do you get rid of something?

00:44:31.260 --> 00:44:33.260
By paying for it and removing it.

00:44:33.260 --> 00:44:36.260
He's already paid for it and removed it.

00:44:36.260 --> 00:44:38.260
So he's gotten rid of the sin.

00:44:38.260 --> 00:44:41.260
I'm always present before him.

00:44:41.260 --> 00:44:47.260
What gets in the way of him and me is now, when I continue to do what he has gotten rid of,

00:44:47.260 --> 00:44:50.260
and now he and I need to have a conversation about it,

00:44:50.260 --> 00:44:55.260
there's nothing before him that I need to go in guilt and condemnation.

00:44:55.260 --> 00:44:56.260
Romans chapter 8, verse 1,

00:44:56.260 --> 00:44:59.260
Therefore there is no condemnation.

00:44:59.260 --> 00:45:02.260
Man, I'm struggling with condemnation every day when Christ continuously says,

00:45:02.260 --> 00:45:04.260
Therefore there is no condemnation.

00:45:04.260 --> 00:45:06.260
We're so accustomed to it, guys.

00:45:06.260 --> 00:45:09.260
We never come to God from a forgiven place.

00:45:09.260 --> 00:45:12.260
We always come to God from a condemned place.

00:45:12.260 --> 00:45:15.260
Not all of us. I do.

00:45:15.260 --> 00:45:18.260
When I mess up, I don't go to him from a forgiven place.

00:45:18.260 --> 00:45:21.260
I go to him from a guilty, condemned place.

00:45:21.260 --> 00:45:23.260
Whenever you approach anyone with guilt and condemnation,

00:45:23.260 --> 00:45:26.260
you've got to do a song and dance before you feel better.

00:45:26.260 --> 00:45:29.260
Oh, God, I am such a worm.

00:45:29.260 --> 00:45:30.260
Go ahead.

00:45:30.260 --> 00:45:39.260
If you think of something similar to the same thing as the name,

00:45:39.260 --> 00:45:41.260
Yeah, yeah.

00:45:41.260 --> 00:45:43.260
I mean, why is it that...

00:45:43.260 --> 00:45:45.260
I love what Jesus does.

00:45:45.260 --> 00:45:48.260
He takes the Old Testament and he ups the ante.

00:45:48.260 --> 00:45:50.260
The Old Testament says, do not commit adultery.

00:45:50.260 --> 00:45:52.260
Jesus said that's in the Old Testament.

00:45:52.260 --> 00:45:53.260
In the New Testament, it says,

00:45:53.260 --> 00:45:55.260
Jesus said that's in the Old Testament.

00:45:55.260 --> 00:45:56.260
In the New Testament,

00:45:56.260 --> 00:45:58.260
do not even look at a woman with lust in your eyes

00:45:58.260 --> 00:46:00.260
for you have already committed adultery.

00:46:00.260 --> 00:46:02.260
What's he trying to deal with?

00:46:02.260 --> 00:46:04.260
He's trying to say, hey, sin action,

00:46:04.260 --> 00:46:09.260
you might have enough strength to not commit adultery,

00:46:09.260 --> 00:46:13.260
but do you have what it takes to be free of even lust?

00:46:13.260 --> 00:46:15.260
I can do that for you.

00:46:15.260 --> 00:46:18.260
And we'll talk about how he did it for us.

00:46:18.260 --> 00:46:21.260
Do you know how relieved we Christians will be

00:46:21.260 --> 00:46:23.260
and how much more joyful we will be

00:46:23.260 --> 00:46:26.260
if we could go to God as forgiven people

00:46:26.260 --> 00:46:29.260
who need to talk about sin?

00:46:29.260 --> 00:46:31.260
What's our favorite place to go to when we sin?

00:46:31.260 --> 00:46:33.260
Psalm 51.

00:46:33.260 --> 00:46:37.260
That was David's sin and how he needed to deal with it.

00:46:37.260 --> 00:46:40.260
And then you ask for cleansing and then you feel,

00:46:40.260 --> 00:46:42.260
did he really cleanse me?

00:46:42.260 --> 00:46:46.260
Let's just ask once more and this time purge me.

00:46:46.260 --> 00:46:48.260
And then that word is not strong enough.

00:46:48.260 --> 00:46:50.260
Oh, God, cleanse me inside and out.

00:46:50.260 --> 00:46:54.260
What are we trying desperately to get to a place where we are clean?

00:46:54.260 --> 00:46:56.260
Where what if I could approach him with,

00:46:56.260 --> 00:46:59.260
I come to you as one forgiven,

00:46:59.260 --> 00:47:03.260
who has sinned and needs to talk to you about it?

00:47:03.260 --> 00:47:06.260
Can't even imagine talking like that, eh?

00:47:06.260 --> 00:47:11.260
Questioner.

00:47:11.260 --> 00:47:18.260
What is the example now that you view as unworthy?

00:47:18.260 --> 00:47:21.260
Complete, got nothing to do with this.

00:47:21.260 --> 00:47:23.260
The First Corinthians 11 thing where it says,

00:47:23.260 --> 00:47:26.260
do not approach the table unworthily,

00:47:26.260 --> 00:47:31.260
is basically saying, hey, don't come and talk to me about

00:47:31.260 --> 00:47:33.260
how wonderfully we are doing

00:47:33.260 --> 00:47:36.260
when you haven't settled things with Anna.

00:47:36.260 --> 00:47:40.260
Remember the text she sent you where she threatened you and stuff like that.

00:47:40.260 --> 00:47:41.260
Deal with that first.

00:47:41.260 --> 00:47:45.260
Once you deal with that, then you can.

00:47:45.260 --> 00:47:48.260
Yeah, it's true she did, eh?

00:47:48.260 --> 00:47:50.260
You thought that was an example?

00:47:50.260 --> 00:47:52.260
It is the truth.

00:47:52.260 --> 00:47:54.260
I'm the innocent party.

00:47:54.260 --> 00:48:04.260
So, now we go to, so what did Jesus do?

00:48:04.260 --> 00:48:06.260
What did Jesus do to change this?

00:48:06.260 --> 00:48:07.260
One of the things we have to realize,

00:48:07.260 --> 00:48:10.260
and we'll talk about this when I go over the notes,

00:48:10.260 --> 00:48:15.260
is that Christ is 100% God and 100% man.

00:48:15.260 --> 00:48:18.260
It's a hard thing for the human mind to conceive,

00:48:18.260 --> 00:48:23.260
but we have to understand that Christ is 100% God,

00:48:23.260 --> 00:48:28.260
Christ, Jesus.

00:48:28.260 --> 00:48:34.260
The word Jesus means rescue from sin.

00:48:34.260 --> 00:48:37.260
It was a common name.

00:48:37.260 --> 00:48:38.260
That was his name.

00:48:38.260 --> 00:48:41.260
Christ is his title.

00:48:41.260 --> 00:48:51.260
Christ means anointed, prince, king, messiah.

00:48:51.260 --> 00:48:56.260
So, Jesus, when he came down to the earth,

00:48:56.260 --> 00:49:03.260
was 100% God and 100% man.

00:49:03.260 --> 00:49:06.260
One of the titles he loved giving himself was not son of God,

00:49:06.260 --> 00:49:09.260
he was just the son of man.

00:49:09.260 --> 00:49:10.260
He still loved that.

00:49:10.260 --> 00:49:12.260
So, what do you mean 100% God and 100% man?

00:49:12.260 --> 00:49:19.260
We think that when he walked the earth, he was just God, so it was no big deal.

00:49:19.260 --> 00:49:21.260
He didn't have to deal with our problems.

00:49:21.260 --> 00:49:24.260
All we think, when he walked the earth, he was 100% man,

00:49:24.260 --> 00:49:27.260
so there was nothing God about him.

00:49:27.260 --> 00:49:33.260
No, if you want a fancy word that will make people think you know stuff,

00:49:33.260 --> 00:49:42.260
this is called the hypostatic union of Christ.

00:49:42.260 --> 00:49:46.260
Yeah, you throw that word around, they'll think you have gone to Bible college.

00:49:46.260 --> 00:49:55.260
So, it's this ability in one person to have him exist both as divine and as man.

00:49:55.260 --> 00:49:58.260
So, on his mother's side, he was 33.

00:49:58.260 --> 00:50:03.260
On his father's side, he was the ageless one.

00:50:03.260 --> 00:50:05.260
On his mother's side, he was 33.

00:50:05.260 --> 00:50:11.260
On his father's side, he was the ageless one.

00:50:11.260 --> 00:50:14.260
In his humanness, he was hungry.

00:50:14.260 --> 00:50:21.260
He would ask for food, but as God, he was never hungry.

00:50:21.260 --> 00:50:30.260
On the cross, Jesus died, but the crucifixion was in the death of God.

00:50:30.260 --> 00:50:34.260
Sometimes, he would speak as man.

00:50:34.260 --> 00:50:38.260
Neither I know, nor my father knows the time.

00:50:38.260 --> 00:50:42.260
Other times, no, sometimes he would speak as man.

00:50:42.260 --> 00:50:45.260
Neither I know the time, nor my father.

00:50:45.260 --> 00:50:48.260
Neither I know the time, only my father knows the time.

00:50:48.260 --> 00:50:51.260
Neither I nor the angels know the time, only my father knows the time.

00:50:51.260 --> 00:50:53.260
And then he would speak as God.

00:50:53.260 --> 00:50:57.260
I am, I was before Abraham was.

00:50:57.260 --> 00:50:58.260
Same man.

00:50:58.260 --> 00:51:05.260
He can go from saying, I do not know, to I am and I existed before Abraham did,

00:51:05.260 --> 00:51:12.260
and they wanted to stone him.

00:51:12.260 --> 00:51:15.260
So this is how he existed.

00:51:15.260 --> 00:51:19.260
And it was not God minus some elements.

00:51:19.260 --> 00:51:24.260
It was God taking on the former man.

00:51:24.260 --> 00:51:27.260
It was not God saying, okay, I'll stop being divine.

00:51:27.260 --> 00:51:31.260
It was fully divine, yet taking on all the frailties of man.

00:51:31.260 --> 00:51:34.260
He could only be one place at one time.

00:51:34.260 --> 00:51:38.260
It is only after resurrection that you find him appearing suddenly in places.

00:51:38.260 --> 00:51:43.260
Otherwise, he could only be one place at one time.

00:51:43.260 --> 00:51:49.260
He had to be dependent on the spirit of God for all his directions.

00:51:49.260 --> 00:51:54.260
Why? Because he had to live a fully human existence like Dhillon, like me,

00:51:54.260 --> 00:51:57.260
so that he would be exposed to the same frailties.

00:51:57.260 --> 00:52:02.260
He could be tempted.

00:52:02.260 --> 00:52:07.260
Jesus was the most tempted human being on earth.

00:52:07.260 --> 00:52:14.260
Because Satan knew there was something about him that if we could get him to sin,

00:52:14.260 --> 00:52:21.260
if we could get him to sin once, all of mankind is condemned.

00:52:21.260 --> 00:52:23.260
Once. He could be tempted.

00:52:23.260 --> 00:52:24.260
How do we know this?

00:52:24.260 --> 00:52:25.260
How do we know this?

00:52:25.260 --> 00:52:26.260
The scripture says that.

00:52:26.260 --> 00:52:27.260
What does it say?

00:52:27.260 --> 00:52:29.260
And Satan tempted him, Luke chapter 4.

00:52:29.260 --> 00:52:32.260
And then he said, left him for a while and tempted him again later.

00:52:32.260 --> 00:52:34.260
Jesus was tempted.

00:52:34.260 --> 00:52:38.260
There's no man on earth who has been tempted as much as Jesus was tempted.

00:52:38.260 --> 00:52:41.260
He was fully God and all-knowing, yet as he is growing up,

00:52:41.260 --> 00:52:43.260
in Luke chapter 1, verse 52 it says,

00:52:43.260 --> 00:52:48.260
and Jesus grew in wisdom, in stature, in favor with God and man.

00:52:48.260 --> 00:52:49.260
What does that mean?

00:52:49.260 --> 00:52:51.260
That there was a process of increase.

00:52:51.260 --> 00:52:53.260
There was a process of growing up.

00:52:53.260 --> 00:52:56.260
Just like Judah.

00:52:56.260 --> 00:52:58.260
He'll have to grow up.

00:52:58.260 --> 00:52:59.260
Jesus had to grow up.

00:52:59.260 --> 00:53:01.260
Why do you think Jesus needed parents?

00:53:01.260 --> 00:53:04.260
Because he needed someone to teach him.

00:53:04.260 --> 00:53:06.260
Fire, hot.

00:53:06.260 --> 00:53:08.260
Ice, cold.

00:53:08.260 --> 00:53:10.260
Stone, not to eat.

00:53:10.260 --> 00:53:12.260
Bread, to eat.

00:53:12.260 --> 00:53:16.260
He didn't come like a happy baby who doesn't cry

00:53:16.260 --> 00:53:20.260
and who asks for milk and bread at the right time

00:53:20.260 --> 00:53:22.260
and goes to sleep throughout the night.

00:53:22.260 --> 00:53:26.260
Mary must have had a problem with him too.

00:53:26.260 --> 00:53:32.260
So feel encouraged, Aaron and Reni.

00:53:32.260 --> 00:53:34.260
Joseph must have had problems like you.

00:53:34.260 --> 00:53:38.260
Take the garbage out, clean the bottle, feed the cat.

00:53:38.260 --> 00:53:39.260
No, no cats.

00:53:39.260 --> 00:53:40.260
Yeah, yeah.

00:53:40.260 --> 00:53:41.260
No cats then.

00:53:41.260 --> 00:53:42.260
Yeah.

00:53:46.260 --> 00:53:51.260
This is the beauty of who Christ is.

00:53:51.260 --> 00:53:54.260
There's scripture after scripture which in the Old Testament

00:53:54.260 --> 00:53:57.260
clearly indicates that Christ is God.

00:53:57.260 --> 00:54:00.260
But you need to understand that he was tempted just like you

00:54:00.260 --> 00:54:03.260
and he could have fallen for sin just like you.

00:54:03.260 --> 00:54:05.260
He would be tempted with lust.

00:54:05.260 --> 00:54:07.260
He would be tempted with anger.

00:54:07.260 --> 00:54:09.260
He would be tempted with pride.

00:54:09.260 --> 00:54:13.260
He would be tempted with doing things because he knew he had the power.

00:54:13.260 --> 00:54:14.260
I love it.

00:54:14.260 --> 00:54:16.260
I mean, take Luke 4.

00:54:16.260 --> 00:54:22.260
It's such a brilliant reversal of what happened with Israel in Egypt.

00:54:22.260 --> 00:54:27.260
Why does Jesus in Luke chapter 4 only quote scriptures to the devil

00:54:27.260 --> 00:54:30.260
from Deuteronomy, Exodus and Numbers?

00:54:30.260 --> 00:54:34.260
Because the very things that Israel, my son, failed at,

00:54:34.260 --> 00:54:37.260
Jesus, my son, will be successful at.

00:54:37.260 --> 00:54:41.260
You can take these three chapters and join them together.

00:54:41.260 --> 00:54:47.260
Genesis chapter 3 where Satan tempts Adam and Eve.

00:54:47.260 --> 00:54:53.260
Deuteronomy where Satan tempts Israel.

00:54:53.260 --> 00:54:57.260
And Luke chapter 4 where Satan tempts Jesus.

00:54:57.260 --> 00:55:01.260
All the temptations are the same.

00:55:01.260 --> 00:55:07.260
Adam who in Luke chapter 3 verse 38 is called the Son of God.

00:55:07.260 --> 00:55:08.260
Crazy, eh?

00:55:08.260 --> 00:55:11.260
Adam was called the Son of God.

00:55:11.260 --> 00:55:14.260
Adam failed.

00:55:14.260 --> 00:55:18.260
In Deuteronomy it's called Israel, my firstborn son.

00:55:18.260 --> 00:55:20.260
Israel failed.

00:55:20.260 --> 00:55:22.260
And then along comes Jesus.

00:55:22.260 --> 00:55:24.260
Same set of temptations.

00:55:24.260 --> 00:55:28.260
And he succeeds.

00:55:28.260 --> 00:55:31.260
And in doing that, at once he reverses Israel's situation

00:55:31.260 --> 00:55:36.260
and he reverses Adam's situation.

00:55:36.260 --> 00:55:41.260
40 years in the desert, 40 days in the wilderness.

00:55:41.260 --> 00:55:43.260
Everything is set up so beautifully.

00:55:43.260 --> 00:55:49.260
I mean when you see the math that is at work in the mind of God,

00:55:49.260 --> 00:55:52.260
as you work through the 66 books,

00:55:52.260 --> 00:55:57.260
you'll be blown away at the brilliance of God.

00:55:57.260 --> 00:56:01.260
He's very logical.

00:56:01.260 --> 00:56:11.260
So he existed both as God and as man.

00:56:11.260 --> 00:56:15.260
So one of the reasons he was born of a virgin

00:56:15.260 --> 00:56:22.260
was because he could not carry the Adamic bloodline.

00:56:22.260 --> 00:56:24.260
He could not carry the Adamic bloodline.

00:56:24.260 --> 00:56:30.260
So he was conceived of a virgin and not of sexual union.

00:56:30.260 --> 00:56:34.260
Part of the reason was so that the Adamic bloodline

00:56:34.260 --> 00:56:38.260
would not be something that he would possess.

00:56:38.260 --> 00:56:42.260
And yet he would be fully man.

00:56:42.260 --> 00:56:48.260
And so let's look at Jesus' body and soul and spirit.

00:56:48.260 --> 00:56:50.260
He had his body, soul and spirit.

00:56:50.260 --> 00:56:59.260
Jesus' body, would it die or would it not die?

00:56:59.260 --> 00:57:02.260
How many would not?

00:57:02.260 --> 00:57:05.260
How many would?

00:57:05.260 --> 00:57:12.260
The reason Jesus' body would not die is because it was not born in sin.

00:57:12.260 --> 00:57:14.260
It was not conceived in sin.

00:57:14.260 --> 00:57:19.260
So his body could have lived on forever.

00:57:19.260 --> 00:57:21.260
He puts it this way in the book of John.

00:57:21.260 --> 00:57:24.260
Nobody can take my life from me.

00:57:24.260 --> 00:57:27.260
I can lay it down.

00:57:27.260 --> 00:57:29.260
So his body could have lived on forever

00:57:29.260 --> 00:57:33.260
because there's only two reasons why the body dies, guys.

00:57:33.260 --> 00:57:35.260
There's only two reasons why the body dies.

00:57:35.260 --> 00:57:42.260
One, because you are born in sin or two, because you sin.

00:57:42.260 --> 00:57:45.260
So Jesus' body could have only died for two reasons.

00:57:45.260 --> 00:57:47.260
One, because he was conceived in sin and he was,

00:57:47.260 --> 00:57:50.260
and he was born of a virgin, born by the spirit.

00:57:50.260 --> 00:57:55.260
The only other way that Jesus' body could have died is if he sinned.

00:57:55.260 --> 00:58:04.260
And therefore Satan would tempt him continuously to see if Jesus could sin once in, once.

00:58:04.260 --> 00:58:07.260
And we'll talk about why he didn't sin.

00:58:07.260 --> 00:58:12.260
So Jesus' body could have lived on forever.

00:58:12.260 --> 00:58:17.260
What about Jesus' thinking and feeling, his soul?

00:58:17.260 --> 00:58:20.260
Any negative thoughts, sadness?

00:58:20.260 --> 00:58:23.260
Yeah. Yeah. Why?

00:58:23.260 --> 00:58:29.260
Because he was exposed to his dad dying when he was young.

00:58:29.260 --> 00:58:33.260
He was exposed to being called illegitimate.

00:58:33.260 --> 00:58:35.260
He was exposed to hate.

00:58:35.260 --> 00:58:40.260
He went through feelings of pain and hurt and stuff like that.

00:58:40.260 --> 00:58:41.260
It was real.

00:58:41.260 --> 00:58:47.260
But what he didn't do was he didn't have guilt.

00:58:47.260 --> 00:58:50.260
He didn't have shame.

00:58:50.260 --> 00:58:55.260
He didn't have evil thoughts.

00:58:55.260 --> 00:58:58.260
He didn't have evil feelings.

00:58:58.260 --> 00:59:04.260
Because if he had, like you were saying, if he had an evil thought or an evil feeling,

00:59:04.260 --> 00:59:08.260
he would have already sinned.

00:59:08.260 --> 00:59:13.260
And we'll talk about how come a man can live like that.

00:59:13.260 --> 00:59:15.260
But he didn't have that.

00:59:15.260 --> 00:59:17.260
What about his spirit?

00:59:17.260 --> 00:59:19.260
How do we know he had a spirit?

00:59:19.260 --> 00:59:24.260
Remember on the cross he says, until you I submit or give my spirit.

00:59:24.260 --> 00:59:25.260
What about his spirit?

00:59:25.260 --> 00:59:26.260
His spirit was innocent.

00:59:26.260 --> 00:59:30.260
His spirit was pure.

00:59:30.260 --> 00:59:34.260
So who is Christ then?

00:59:34.260 --> 00:59:37.260
Christ is the last Adam.

00:59:37.260 --> 00:59:40.260
The first Adam was born like this.

00:59:40.260 --> 00:59:43.260
The last Adam was born like this.

00:59:43.260 --> 00:59:50.260
Christ came so that a new generation could begin with him.

00:59:50.260 --> 00:59:56.260
Any questions?

00:59:56.260 --> 00:59:57.260
Sorry, not the last Adam.

00:59:57.260 --> 00:59:58.260
Christ is the second Adam.

00:59:58.260 --> 00:59:59.260
Sorry, not the last Adam.

00:59:59.260 --> 01:00:03.260
Christ is the second Adam.

01:00:03.260 --> 01:00:05.260
Okay, let's call Pawan out again.

01:00:05.260 --> 01:00:10.260
Pawan, can you come out?

01:00:10.260 --> 01:00:12.260
Let's call Dilna out.

01:00:12.260 --> 01:00:13.260
Dilna, you're okay.

01:00:13.260 --> 01:00:17.260
I pick on you always.

01:00:17.260 --> 01:00:18.260
Pawan, no, you stand.

01:00:18.260 --> 01:00:23.260
You have to be shorter than me.

01:00:23.260 --> 01:00:31.260
So let's assume I am Jesus and Pawan is Pawan.

01:00:31.260 --> 01:00:36.260
The advantage that I as Jesus have over Pawan, who's a believer,

01:00:36.260 --> 01:00:43.260
is that my body will not die because I wasn't conceived in sin

01:00:43.260 --> 01:00:46.260
and Jesus did not sin, so he lived.

01:00:46.260 --> 01:01:04.260
Is there any other advantage that Jesus had over Pawan?

01:01:04.260 --> 01:01:08.260
But his spirit is innocent now.

01:01:08.260 --> 01:01:10.260
He's a new believer.

01:01:10.260 --> 01:01:13.260
Yeah.

01:01:13.260 --> 01:01:16.260
Yeah, Jesus could have had them too.

01:01:16.260 --> 01:01:24.260
Jesus chose not to.

01:01:24.260 --> 01:01:26.260
He has the indwelling Holy Spirit now.

01:01:26.260 --> 01:01:28.260
Jesus had the indwelling Spirit.

01:01:28.260 --> 01:01:30.260
Yeah, we'll get there.

01:01:30.260 --> 01:01:34.260
I just want you to remember this before I show you something.

01:01:34.260 --> 01:01:40.260
The only advantage that Jesus has over a believer today,

01:01:40.260 --> 01:01:42.260
if Jesus was standing here and you were standing here,

01:01:42.260 --> 01:01:47.260
the only advantage Jesus has is that Jesus' body would not die

01:01:47.260 --> 01:01:49.260
because he wasn't conceived in sin.

01:01:49.260 --> 01:01:51.260
That's the only advantage Jesus had.

01:01:51.260 --> 01:01:53.260
So let's see how that advantage worked out.

01:01:53.260 --> 01:01:55.260
Thanks Pawan, I'll call you up in a little while.

01:01:55.260 --> 01:01:58.260
So Jesus had a body.

01:01:58.260 --> 01:01:59.260
Jesus had a soul.

01:01:59.260 --> 01:02:01.260
Jesus had a spirit.

01:02:01.260 --> 01:02:02.260
You have a body.

01:02:02.260 --> 01:02:04.260
You have a soul.

01:02:04.260 --> 01:02:06.260
You have a spirit.

01:02:06.260 --> 01:02:08.260
Jesus' body would not die.

01:02:08.260 --> 01:02:11.260
Jesus' soul was exposed to many things,

01:02:11.260 --> 01:02:13.260
but he did not know negative feelings.

01:02:13.260 --> 01:02:15.260
He did not know negativity.

01:02:15.260 --> 01:02:17.260
And his spirit was innocent and pure.

01:02:17.260 --> 01:02:19.260
Your soul has negative feelings.

01:02:19.260 --> 01:02:25.260
Your spirit is contaminated, polluted, has the DNA of sin written into it.

01:02:25.260 --> 01:02:26.260
Yeah?

01:02:26.260 --> 01:02:30.260
Okay, so now Jesus Christ comes down to the earth

01:02:30.260 --> 01:02:34.260
and he says that, listen, here's what I'm going to do.

01:02:34.260 --> 01:02:42.260
I'm going to take on not so much your sin actions,

01:02:42.260 --> 01:02:44.260
but your sin being.

01:02:44.260 --> 01:02:49.260
And when you receive me, here's what happens.

01:02:49.260 --> 01:02:50.260
Pawan, come up again.

01:02:56.260 --> 01:03:01.260
So when Christ was crucified,

01:03:01.260 --> 01:03:05.260
when Christ was crucified,

01:03:05.260 --> 01:03:07.260
you can put your arms down if it hurts,

01:03:07.260 --> 01:03:09.260
but try to keep it up till it hurts.

01:03:09.260 --> 01:03:10.260
Yeah.

01:03:10.260 --> 01:03:12.260
When Christ was crucified,

01:03:12.260 --> 01:03:14.260
here's what he's saying,

01:03:14.260 --> 01:03:16.260
that in my crucifixion,

01:03:16.260 --> 01:03:21.260
I am taking on the sin of every person who lives on the face of the earth.

01:03:21.260 --> 01:03:23.260
So I'm taking on Matt's sin.

01:03:23.260 --> 01:03:24.260
I'm taking on Jacob's sin.

01:03:24.260 --> 01:03:25.260
I'm taking on Hamari's sin.

01:03:25.260 --> 01:03:29.260
He's taking on himself the sin of everybody.

01:03:29.260 --> 01:03:34.260
When he dies, it's literally like he dying for you.

01:03:34.260 --> 01:03:36.260
Why does he need to die?

01:03:36.260 --> 01:03:37.260
Just stay there.

01:03:37.260 --> 01:03:38.260
Why does he need to die?

01:03:38.260 --> 01:03:41.260
Why should a person die because of sin?

01:03:41.260 --> 01:03:45.260
Because in Romans 3 it says,

01:03:45.260 --> 01:03:48.260
the wages of sin is death.

01:03:48.260 --> 01:03:53.260
You sin, you will be paid not in dollars, but in death.

01:03:53.260 --> 01:03:56.260
The currency of sin is death.

01:03:56.260 --> 01:04:01.260
So if you sin, you must be paid the wages of sin.

01:04:01.260 --> 01:04:04.260
You must be paid a salary for your sin.

01:04:04.260 --> 01:04:09.260
And the salary for your sin is death.

01:04:09.260 --> 01:04:11.260
And so Christ is saying,

01:04:11.260 --> 01:04:15.260
Hey Jacob, hey Chris Dodd, hey Jeremy Koo,

01:04:15.260 --> 01:04:18.260
why don't I pay the wages of your sin?

01:04:18.260 --> 01:04:25.260
And so in his dying, he is paying the wages of your sin.

01:04:25.260 --> 01:04:31.260
But only a man who does not have to pay his own wages can do this.

01:04:31.260 --> 01:04:33.260
I can't pay it for you.

01:04:33.260 --> 01:04:36.260
Why? Because I got my own sin to pay for.

01:04:36.260 --> 01:04:39.260
She can't pay it for you because she's got her own sin to pay for.

01:04:39.260 --> 01:04:42.260
Someone has to live the way I live.

01:04:42.260 --> 01:04:43.260
Someone has to live in the world that I live in.

01:04:43.260 --> 01:04:44.260
Someone has to live through my experiences.

01:04:44.260 --> 01:04:46.260
Someone has to live through temptation.

01:04:46.260 --> 01:04:47.260
Someone has to live through it.

01:04:47.260 --> 01:04:50.260
And only after living through it can he say,

01:04:50.260 --> 01:04:53.260
I have lived what you have lived and I have not sinned.

01:04:53.260 --> 01:04:56.260
Therefore I can pay the price for your sin.

01:04:56.260 --> 01:05:01.260
Jesus had to come down and go through the experiences that you and I went through.

01:05:01.260 --> 01:05:08.260
This is why if you understand this and you reject Christ, you are rejecting life.

01:05:08.260 --> 01:05:14.260
This is not about Catholicism, Pentecostalism, Baptist, whatever.

01:05:14.260 --> 01:05:15.260
It's not about Hinduism.

01:05:15.260 --> 01:05:16.260
It's not about Buddhism.

01:05:16.260 --> 01:05:17.260
It's not about Atheism.

01:05:17.260 --> 01:05:19.260
It's not about your reasoning.

01:05:19.260 --> 01:05:20.260
It's one simple thing.

01:05:20.260 --> 01:05:25.260
Someone came, lived your life, went through your experiences,

01:05:25.260 --> 01:05:27.260
worse than your experiences,

01:05:27.260 --> 01:05:32.260
did not die because he could not be paid the wages of sin which is death.

01:05:32.260 --> 01:05:34.260
You may say, I don't believe that.

01:05:34.260 --> 01:05:37.260
Well then, try jumping off a building because you don't believe in gravity.

01:05:37.260 --> 01:05:39.260
See what happens.

01:05:39.260 --> 01:05:44.260
There are some universal principles that it doesn't matter whether one believes it or not.

01:05:44.260 --> 01:05:47.260
If I say I don't believe in gravity and jump off a building,

01:05:47.260 --> 01:05:52.260
I'll suddenly about halfway through realize that gravity works.

01:05:52.260 --> 01:05:54.260
It's the same way with sin.

01:05:54.260 --> 01:06:02.260
Sin will be paid for and the wages of sin is death.

01:06:02.260 --> 01:06:05.260
Don't go try jumping off a building.

01:06:05.260 --> 01:06:06.260
This should not be tried.

01:06:06.260 --> 01:06:07.260
No, it should not be tried at all.

01:06:07.260 --> 01:06:09.260
I was going to say without parental concern.

01:06:09.260 --> 01:06:11.260
No, do not try this.

01:06:11.260 --> 01:06:12.260
This is not for experts.

01:06:12.260 --> 01:06:15.260
This is not for anybody.

01:06:15.260 --> 01:06:23.260
So he dies for me, but he can only die for me because he lives through my experiences and does not sin.

01:06:23.260 --> 01:06:25.260
Do you know why Jesus rose from the dead?

01:06:25.260 --> 01:06:28.260
Why did Jesus rise from the dead?

01:06:28.260 --> 01:06:32.260
You can't pay him death because he did not sin.

01:06:32.260 --> 01:06:35.260
How can you hold a man down when he has not sinned?

01:06:35.260 --> 01:06:36.260
Is this scriptural?

01:06:36.260 --> 01:06:37.260
Yes.

01:06:37.260 --> 01:06:39.260
Acts chapter 2, verse 32 to 36.

01:06:39.260 --> 01:06:48.260
It was not possible for Jesus to be held down by death because you cannot pay someone who did not sin the wages of death.

01:06:48.260 --> 01:06:49.260
He did not sin.

01:06:49.260 --> 01:06:52.260
How can death hold him?

01:06:52.260 --> 01:06:55.260
Why will you rise up after you die?

01:06:55.260 --> 01:06:58.260
Why will you instantly rise up and be with God?

01:06:58.260 --> 01:07:02.260
Simply because you cannot be paid the wages of sin anymore.

01:07:02.260 --> 01:07:03.260
Why?

01:07:03.260 --> 01:07:06.260
Because Christ paid yours too.

01:07:06.260 --> 01:07:09.260
This is how we live, guys.

01:07:09.260 --> 01:07:18.260
Why is it that I still struggle with condemnation and guilt and the whole thing of sin when someone actually has paid for it?

01:07:18.260 --> 01:07:20.260
Do you know how pathetic it is?

01:07:20.260 --> 01:07:24.260
We are carrying corpses on our back.

01:07:24.260 --> 01:07:29.260
I'm guilty of it.

01:07:29.260 --> 01:07:34.260
He paid for mine too.

01:07:34.260 --> 01:07:39.260
And therefore, just as he rose from the dead, I will rise from the dead.

01:07:39.260 --> 01:07:45.260
Yeah, this is Jesus, by the way.

01:07:45.260 --> 01:07:51.260
This is the highest role he'll ever get in his life.

01:07:51.260 --> 01:07:56.260
You can stay here, but you can put your arms around him.

01:07:57.260 --> 01:08:00.260
You can stay here, but you can put your arms down.

01:08:00.260 --> 01:08:09.260
So, here's what happens then.

01:08:09.260 --> 01:08:16.260
You have a spirit that is contaminated, polluted, that cannot work with God.

01:08:16.260 --> 01:08:19.260
This is what Jesus puts to death on the cross.

01:08:19.260 --> 01:08:20.260
Here's a scripture.

01:08:20.260 --> 01:08:21.260
Let me write it out for you.

01:08:21.260 --> 01:08:22.260
It's a great scripture.

01:08:22.260 --> 01:08:24.260
Memorize it.

01:08:24.260 --> 01:08:28.260
Galatians 2.20.

01:08:28.260 --> 01:08:43.260
I, put in your name there, have been crucified with Christ.

01:08:45.260 --> 01:08:52.260
I no longer live.

01:08:54.260 --> 01:09:19.260
The life I live now, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loves me and died for me.

01:09:19.260 --> 01:09:23.260
Beautiful, eh?

01:09:23.260 --> 01:09:25.260
Galatians 2.20.

01:09:25.260 --> 01:09:30.260
I have been crucified with Christ.

01:09:30.260 --> 01:09:37.260
Anybody here who has received Jesus Christ, this is your true condition.

01:09:37.260 --> 01:09:42.260
I have been crucified with Christ.

01:09:42.260 --> 01:09:50.260
If you have been crucified with Christ, the person that your mum gave birth to no longer lives.

01:09:50.260 --> 01:09:52.260
Hear me again.

01:09:52.260 --> 01:10:01.260
The person that your mum gave birth to, you, who was born with a degenerate spirit, with a contaminated, polluted spirit, no longer lives.

01:10:01.260 --> 01:10:03.260
I no longer lives.

01:10:03.260 --> 01:10:04.260
What happened to you?

01:10:04.260 --> 01:10:09.260
The day you received Christ, you were crucified with him.

01:10:09.260 --> 01:10:12.260
So in Christ being crucified, Jacob was crucified.

01:10:12.260 --> 01:10:16.260
Jacob, or Pawan, let's go with Jacob.

01:10:16.260 --> 01:10:19.260
Jacob no longer lives.

01:10:19.260 --> 01:10:21.260
He no longer lives.

01:10:21.260 --> 01:10:24.260
This Jacob that his mum gave birth to no longer lives.

01:10:24.260 --> 01:10:25.260
Where will you find him?

01:10:25.260 --> 01:10:28.260
You will find him at Golgotha.

01:10:28.260 --> 01:10:31.260
If you went digging at Golgotha, you will find me.

01:10:31.260 --> 01:10:32.260
Somewhere there you will find me.

01:10:32.260 --> 01:10:33.260
Why?

01:10:33.260 --> 01:10:38.260
Because the day I received Christ, I was crucified with Christ.

01:10:38.260 --> 01:10:41.260
I no longer live.

01:10:41.260 --> 01:10:44.260
You want to find your old self?

01:10:44.260 --> 01:10:50.260
Go to Jerusalem and start digging.

01:10:50.260 --> 01:10:52.260
Because that's where you will find your old self.

01:10:52.260 --> 01:10:54.260
It no longer lives.

01:10:54.260 --> 01:10:55.260
God is saying this.

01:10:55.260 --> 01:10:58.260
It no longer lives.

01:10:58.260 --> 01:11:00.260
The life that you have is different now.

01:11:00.260 --> 01:11:02.260
Thanks.

01:11:02.260 --> 01:11:03.260
Here's what happens.

01:11:03.260 --> 01:11:07.260
This part of you, the essence of who you are, no longer lives.

01:11:07.260 --> 01:11:08.260
It dies.

01:11:08.260 --> 01:11:10.260
So let's give it a burial.

01:11:10.260 --> 01:11:15.260
So we bury it.

01:11:15.260 --> 01:11:17.260
This is what happens in baptism.

01:11:17.260 --> 01:11:26.260
We go underwater and in going underwater, we are saying that my old self is now dead and buried.

01:11:26.260 --> 01:11:29.260
And so we bury it.

01:11:29.260 --> 01:11:30.260
It no longer lives.

01:11:30.260 --> 01:11:31.260
It's buried.

01:11:31.260 --> 01:11:34.260
This is what is symbolized in baptism.

01:11:34.260 --> 01:11:36.260
So there it is.

01:11:36.260 --> 01:11:37.260
But now we got a problem.

01:11:37.260 --> 01:11:40.260
We got a body and we got a soul.

01:11:40.260 --> 01:11:42.260
And now God does something marvelous.

01:11:42.260 --> 01:11:45.260
He says, I'll give you a brand new spirit.

01:11:45.260 --> 01:11:47.260
That one's dead and buried.

01:11:47.260 --> 01:11:50.260
I'll give you a brand new spirit.

01:11:50.260 --> 01:11:52.260
2 Corinthians 5 17.

01:11:52.260 --> 01:11:54.260
I am a new creation.

01:11:54.260 --> 01:11:57.260
Unless a man be born again.

01:11:57.260 --> 01:11:59.260
Nicodemus says, but how can a man be born again?

01:11:59.260 --> 01:12:04.260
Jesus said he'll be born again by spirit and water, meaning spirit and the word.

01:12:04.260 --> 01:12:09.260
When you receive Christ, you receive a brand new spirit.

01:12:09.260 --> 01:12:14.260
And so God gives you a brand new spirit.

01:12:14.260 --> 01:12:16.260
What kind of spirit is this?

01:12:16.260 --> 01:12:20.260
This is the same spirit that he gave Adam when he made Adam.

01:12:20.260 --> 01:12:22.260
It's guidelines.

01:12:22.260 --> 01:12:23.260
It is innocent.

01:12:23.260 --> 01:12:26.260
It is pure.

01:12:27.260 --> 01:12:34.260
We don't realize the ridiculous transformation that takes place the moment someone receives Christ.

01:12:34.260 --> 01:12:35.260
Nobody can see it.

01:12:35.260 --> 01:12:36.260
It's not visible.

01:12:36.260 --> 01:12:42.260
But the moment someone says, yes, I received Jesus, and they don't even know the length and breadth of Jesus instantly.

01:12:42.260 --> 01:12:44.260
Nothing happens to the body.

01:12:44.260 --> 01:12:45.260
The bodies don't change.

01:12:45.260 --> 01:12:46.260
They may cry a little.

01:12:46.260 --> 01:12:48.260
Nothing happens to their feelings.

01:12:48.260 --> 01:12:49.260
They may cry.

01:12:49.260 --> 01:12:50.260
They may laugh.

01:12:50.260 --> 01:12:52.260
But what happens is instantly.

01:12:52.260 --> 01:13:00.260
There's one part of you that if you go to Golgotha, you will find broken.

01:13:00.260 --> 01:13:02.260
That dies.

01:13:02.260 --> 01:13:03.260
I have been crucified with Christ.

01:13:03.260 --> 01:13:04.260
I no longer live.

01:13:04.260 --> 01:13:05.260
And instantly what happens?

01:13:05.260 --> 01:13:09.260
You get a brand new spirit.

01:13:09.260 --> 01:13:10.260
What has just transpired?

01:13:10.260 --> 01:13:18.260
You have been restored to how Adam used to be.

01:13:18.260 --> 01:13:21.260
The DNA is still on.

01:13:31.260 --> 01:13:36.260
True story, which I love telling a hundred times.

01:13:36.260 --> 01:13:38.260
Valley View Cemetery.

01:13:38.260 --> 01:13:40.260
Sorry.

01:13:40.260 --> 01:13:42.260
We're burying a pastor's wife.

01:13:42.260 --> 01:13:47.260
I'm standing next to another pastor from a church.

01:13:47.260 --> 01:13:52.260
And as we're burying the pastor's wife, he nudges me and says, look down, look down.

01:13:52.260 --> 01:13:55.260
And there are thousands and thousands of graves at Valley View.

01:13:55.260 --> 01:13:57.260
And I'm standing over a grave.

01:13:57.260 --> 01:14:01.260
And it says, here lies Jacob John.

01:14:01.260 --> 01:14:02.260
My name.

01:14:02.260 --> 01:14:09.260
What are the odds that you are standing over a grave with your name on it and it says, here lies Jacob John?

01:14:09.260 --> 01:14:16.260
And I'm thinking to myself, oh my God, maybe my number has come up and I'm going to keel and fall over into this lady's grave.

01:14:16.260 --> 01:14:20.260
Because what are the odds that you'll find a grave with your name on it?

01:14:20.260 --> 01:14:22.260
And it freaked me out for a second.

01:14:22.260 --> 01:14:25.260
And then I remembered what Oswald Chambers had written long ago.

01:14:25.260 --> 01:14:27.260
And here's what he wrote.

01:14:27.260 --> 01:14:31.260
Have you been to your funeral yet?

01:14:31.260 --> 01:14:34.260
Have you been to your funeral yet?

01:14:34.260 --> 01:14:39.260
Because if something doesn't die, how can something new be born?

01:14:39.260 --> 01:14:43.260
Have you been to your funeral yet?

01:14:43.260 --> 01:14:49.260
Have you been to this place where something died?

01:14:49.260 --> 01:14:51.260
Where's the thing that died?

01:14:51.260 --> 01:14:52.260
Oh, there it is.

01:14:52.260 --> 01:14:54.260
Where something died.

01:14:54.260 --> 01:14:56.260
This is true being born again.

01:14:56.260 --> 01:15:02.260
You can go to a church every day of your life and still not know God or not have this transformation take place.

01:15:02.260 --> 01:15:03.260
Don't fool yourself.

01:15:03.260 --> 01:15:07.260
One of the scriptures that kind of scares me a little is Galatians 6.6.

01:15:07.260 --> 01:15:10.260
God is not mocked.

01:15:10.260 --> 01:15:11.260
Do not deceive yourself.

01:15:11.260 --> 01:15:16.260
God is not mocked.

01:15:16.260 --> 01:15:22.260
This thing dies and is buried.

01:15:22.260 --> 01:15:23.260
It no longer lives.

01:15:23.260 --> 01:15:25.260
Have you been to your funeral yet?

01:15:25.260 --> 01:15:30.260
And if that hasn't happened to you, then I want to say to you that you are not born again.

01:15:33.260 --> 01:15:41.260
And then God gives you a brand new spirit.

01:15:41.260 --> 01:15:45.260
He now restores you to where Adam was.

01:15:45.260 --> 01:15:47.260
And then he says, this spirit is pure.

01:15:47.260 --> 01:15:49.260
The spirit is innocent.

01:15:49.260 --> 01:15:51.260
The spirit is without guile.

01:15:51.260 --> 01:15:53.260
But Adam sinned, right?

01:15:53.260 --> 01:15:54.260
Adam sinned.

01:15:54.260 --> 01:15:56.260
So you could sin again.

01:15:56.260 --> 01:15:58.260
So something has to be done to prevent that.

01:15:58.260 --> 01:16:01.260
Otherwise, this will have to keep happening again and again and again.

01:16:01.260 --> 01:16:03.260
So God does something amazing.

01:16:03.260 --> 01:16:05.260
He says, here's what I'll do.

01:16:05.260 --> 01:16:07.260
I've given you a brand new spirit.

01:16:07.260 --> 01:16:12.260
I will now put my Holy Spirit in your brand new spirit.

01:16:12.260 --> 01:16:21.260
I no longer live, but Christ lives in me.

01:16:21.260 --> 01:16:28.260
So not only do you have a brand new spirit, you've been restored to where Adam was.

01:16:28.260 --> 01:16:29.260
But that ain't good enough.

01:16:29.260 --> 01:16:31.260
God says, I'll do you one better than Adam.

01:16:31.260 --> 01:16:37.260
I'll make you like my own son by taking the spirit of my son and putting it in your spirit.

01:16:37.260 --> 01:16:41.260
I'll saturate your spirit with my spirit.

01:16:41.260 --> 01:16:45.260
If I want to be like Dilna, I can read a book about him.

01:16:45.260 --> 01:16:48.260
If I want to be like Dilna, I can follow him.

01:16:48.260 --> 01:16:52.260
If I want to be like Dilna, I can go to his friends and ask him, how's Dilna?

01:16:52.260 --> 01:16:53.260
I want to be like him.

01:16:53.260 --> 01:16:57.260
But what if Dilna's spirit comes into me?

01:16:58.260 --> 01:17:02.260
The moment Dilna's spirit comes into me, I'll start combing my hair like Dilna.

01:17:02.260 --> 01:17:04.260
I'll start driving like Dilna.

01:17:04.260 --> 01:17:06.260
I'll start singing like Dilna.

01:17:06.260 --> 01:17:08.260
I'll do everything like Dilna.

01:17:08.260 --> 01:17:11.260
That's why, because the spirit just came into me.

01:17:11.260 --> 01:17:13.260
That is what Christ did.

01:17:13.260 --> 01:17:17.260
Christ said, hey Fuyo, so I have now restored you to who Adam was.

01:17:17.260 --> 01:17:20.260
You're innocent. You're pure. You're without guile.

01:17:20.260 --> 01:17:23.260
But I want to do you one better. I'll make you perfect.

01:17:24.260 --> 01:17:27.260
But Fuyo says, how Jesus can you make me perfect?

01:17:27.260 --> 01:17:29.260
This is a great deal in itself.

01:17:29.260 --> 01:17:33.260
And God says, nope, I'm going to saturate you with my spirit.

01:17:35.260 --> 01:17:37.260
Does anyone have any coffee here?

01:17:38.260 --> 01:17:41.260
No? Nobody drinking coffee or tea?

01:17:41.260 --> 01:17:45.260
You have some? How dare you drink it inside the sanctuary?

01:17:53.260 --> 01:18:03.260
The crazy thing is, if this is you and this is the Holy Spirit,

01:18:03.260 --> 01:18:10.260
then God is not coming and dwelling in you like a little piece inside another piece.

01:18:10.260 --> 01:18:12.260
He's actually saturating you.

01:18:13.260 --> 01:18:17.260
Where now, there's no difference between what is in this and what is in this.

01:18:17.260 --> 01:18:18.260
It's become one.

01:18:18.260 --> 01:18:20.260
You try separating this and giving it to me,

01:18:20.260 --> 01:18:21.260
James, it's impossible.

01:18:21.260 --> 01:18:23.260
Even a barista like him can't do that.

01:18:27.260 --> 01:18:28.260
Now try separating this.

01:18:28.260 --> 01:18:32.260
This is what happens with us when God begins to work on us.

01:18:32.260 --> 01:18:37.260
God literally says, listen, I'm not just inside you making noise.

01:18:37.260 --> 01:18:40.260
You and I have become one.

01:18:41.260 --> 01:18:43.260
There's no separation, guys.

01:18:44.260 --> 01:18:45.260
There's no separation.

01:18:45.260 --> 01:18:47.260
There's no separation, guys.

01:18:48.260 --> 01:18:49.260
There's no separation.

01:18:49.260 --> 01:18:54.260
If you had the jaws of life or whatever those firemen use,

01:18:54.260 --> 01:18:56.260
where they open a car up and...

01:18:57.260 --> 01:19:00.260
And if you did that to me, if you opened me up,

01:19:01.260 --> 01:19:04.260
you would not find a Jacob and a Jesus.

01:19:04.260 --> 01:19:06.260
You would only find Christ.

01:19:07.260 --> 01:19:11.260
That is why it says, I no longer live, but Christ lives in me.

01:19:11.260 --> 01:19:13.260
Sorry, I missed out on a line.

01:19:13.260 --> 01:19:15.260
I have been crucified with Christ.

01:19:15.260 --> 01:19:24.260
I no longer live, but Christ lives in me.

01:19:25.260 --> 01:19:28.260
If you opened me up, you would not find two different people.

01:19:28.260 --> 01:19:31.260
You would find one person.

01:19:31.260 --> 01:19:38.260
My spirit, Romans chapter 6, sorry, 1 Corinthians 6, verse 17 or 18,

01:19:38.260 --> 01:19:42.260
the spirit of Christ and my spirit have become one.

01:19:42.260 --> 01:19:44.260
You cannot separate me from Christ ever.

01:19:45.260 --> 01:19:47.260
Do you know why I'm going to heaven if I die tonight?

01:19:47.260 --> 01:19:51.260
It's not because I'm a Christian, not because I'm a pastor.

01:19:51.260 --> 01:19:53.260
It's simply because I'm perfect.

01:19:54.260 --> 01:19:56.260
Really, Jacob, you're perfect? Yeah. How?

01:19:56.260 --> 01:20:00.260
Because my spirit and his spirit have become one and he is perfect.

01:20:00.260 --> 01:20:04.260
The reason anybody goes to heaven is not because they're a Christian,

01:20:04.260 --> 01:20:07.260
not because they say a prayer, but because Christ lives in them.

01:20:07.260 --> 01:20:11.260
And the moment Christ lives in you, you have become perfect

01:20:11.260 --> 01:20:13.260
because Christ is perfect.

01:20:13.260 --> 01:20:17.260
There is no other way into the presence of God except through this.

01:20:19.260 --> 01:20:20.260
Here, James.

01:20:20.260 --> 01:20:24.260
Well, actually, not yet.

01:20:27.260 --> 01:20:28.260
Pardon?

01:20:30.260 --> 01:20:33.260
Yeah, I'll try not to spill it, otherwise we will blame you.

01:20:42.260 --> 01:20:45.260
This is what's happened to us, guys.

01:20:45.260 --> 01:20:47.260
It's crazy what God has done.

01:20:47.260 --> 01:20:55.260
He's literally done an operation where something that was sinful in you has died and it's buried.

01:20:56.260 --> 01:20:58.260
And when you come out of the water during baptism,

01:20:58.260 --> 01:21:03.260
this is why baptism is such a critical part of the Christian equation.

01:21:03.260 --> 01:21:08.260
To be baptized is to show the world that you actually believe this.

01:21:08.260 --> 01:21:09.260
Baptized not...

01:21:11.260 --> 01:21:13.260
Yeah, we'll talk about baptism later.

01:21:16.260 --> 01:21:17.260
Who lives in me?

01:21:18.260 --> 01:21:19.260
The Spirit of Christ.

01:21:22.260 --> 01:21:24.260
This is what makes me perfect.

01:21:24.260 --> 01:21:26.260
So why do we still sin?

01:21:26.260 --> 01:21:29.260
Pawan is going to become a different person now.

01:21:29.260 --> 01:21:30.260
Come, Pawan.

01:21:33.260 --> 01:21:36.260
So now Pawan is no longer a Christian.

01:21:36.260 --> 01:21:38.260
So now Pawan is no longer Jesus.

01:21:39.260 --> 01:21:40.260
Pawan is my slave.

01:21:41.260 --> 01:21:42.260
That's a fall, huh?

01:21:44.260 --> 01:21:45.260
Pawan is my slave.

01:21:45.260 --> 01:21:53.260
So every morning, because he is my slave, I expect him to get up before I get up.

01:21:53.260 --> 01:22:00.260
I expect him to give me a shave, massage my feet, massage my shoulders.

01:22:01.260 --> 01:22:02.260
A little better, man.

01:22:02.260 --> 01:22:04.260
And I expect him to bring me breakfast.

01:22:04.260 --> 01:22:06.260
I expect him to clean the place.

01:22:06.260 --> 01:22:08.260
I expect him to do everything that a slave does.

01:22:08.260 --> 01:22:12.260
I wake up this morning and Pawan is not there.

01:22:14.260 --> 01:22:17.260
Because he's been serving me for long, I give him two minutes.

01:22:17.260 --> 01:22:18.260
He's still not there. Five minutes.

01:22:18.260 --> 01:22:20.260
He's not there. I'm getting angry now.

01:22:20.260 --> 01:22:25.260
So I go get a whip that I usually whip slaves with.

01:22:25.260 --> 01:22:26.260
This is in the Bible.

01:22:26.260 --> 01:22:27.260
The Bible talks about this.

01:22:27.260 --> 01:22:29.260
I'm not coming up with this example myself.

01:22:29.260 --> 01:22:35.260
I take a whip and I find him sleeping in his slave room.

01:22:35.260 --> 01:22:40.260
And I am so enraged that I take the whip and I start whipping him saying,

01:22:40.260 --> 01:22:42.260
Get up and serve me.

01:22:42.260 --> 01:22:43.260
You're my slave.

01:22:43.260 --> 01:22:44.260
You will do what I tell you.

01:22:44.260 --> 01:22:45.260
Get up and serve me.

01:22:45.260 --> 01:22:46.260
And he doesn't move.

01:22:47.260 --> 01:22:50.260
And so I throw the whip away and I grab his neck.

01:22:51.260 --> 01:22:56.260
And when I grab his neck, that's when I suddenly realize that there is a slave in his slave room.

01:22:56.260 --> 01:23:00.260
And when I grab his neck, that's when I suddenly realize that there is no pulse.

01:23:02.260 --> 01:23:04.260
Because last night my slave died.

01:23:06.260 --> 01:23:13.260
And I am so enraged because now that the slave has died, I have no mastery over him.

01:23:13.260 --> 01:23:15.260
It doesn't matter how much I whip him.

01:23:15.260 --> 01:23:17.260
It doesn't matter how much I kick him.

01:23:17.260 --> 01:23:19.260
It doesn't matter how much I strangle him.

01:23:19.260 --> 01:23:25.260
He is not responding because he has escaped my mastery.

01:23:25.260 --> 01:23:30.260
In death, my slave has been freed.

01:23:30.260 --> 01:23:32.260
In death, he has escaped my mastery.

01:23:32.260 --> 01:23:36.260
In death, I have absolutely no control over him.

01:23:39.260 --> 01:23:40.260
This is what Christ did.

01:23:41.260 --> 01:23:48.260
In death, he's saying, Jacob, when that scripture happened, I have been crucified with Christ.

01:23:48.260 --> 01:23:50.260
This is an actual thing that happened.

01:23:50.260 --> 01:23:51.260
Don't think this is theology.

01:23:51.260 --> 01:23:53.260
Don't think this is some fancy spin.

01:23:53.260 --> 01:23:56.260
This is what actually happens unless you be born again.

01:23:56.260 --> 01:23:59.260
But how can something be born again unless something dies?

01:23:59.260 --> 01:24:01.260
Have you been to your funeral yet?

01:24:03.260 --> 01:24:05.260
I have been crucified with Christ.

01:24:05.260 --> 01:24:06.260
I no longer live.

01:24:06.260 --> 01:24:09.260
If he died, he's escaped my mastery.

01:24:09.260 --> 01:24:12.260
If he died, I cannot make him sin anymore.

01:24:12.260 --> 01:24:15.260
If he died, I cannot control him.

01:24:15.260 --> 01:24:18.260
In his death, he escaped my mastery.

01:24:18.260 --> 01:24:19.260
He's no longer my slave.

01:24:19.260 --> 01:24:21.260
Now do you understand why Romans said,

01:24:21.260 --> 01:24:28.260
You used to be a slave to sin, but Christ, in dying with Christ, you have escaped the slavery of sin?

01:24:30.260 --> 01:24:38.260
Because the part of me, the sin being that loved sinning, that was controlled by the devil, that was controlled by sin, no longer lives.

01:24:38.260 --> 01:24:40.260
It's dead.

01:24:40.260 --> 01:24:42.260
And in death, a slave escapes.

01:24:42.260 --> 01:24:44.260
I have no control over him.

01:24:44.260 --> 01:24:46.260
I have no control over him.

01:24:47.260 --> 01:24:51.260
But now I have someone who lives in me called Christ.

01:24:55.260 --> 01:24:58.260
It is not my default to sin.

01:25:00.260 --> 01:25:06.260
The world is behaving exactly if you are not born again, if you haven't received Christ.

01:25:06.260 --> 01:25:10.260
And please don't for a second think, because you went to church, you're a Christian.

01:25:10.260 --> 01:25:11.260
I went to church all my life.

01:25:11.260 --> 01:25:13.260
Because you went to Sunday school, you're a Christian.

01:25:13.260 --> 01:25:14.260
I went to Sunday school all my life.

01:25:14.260 --> 01:25:17.260
Because you had catechism and a bit of bread, you became a Christian.

01:25:17.260 --> 01:25:18.260
You're not a Christian.

01:25:18.260 --> 01:25:19.260
Not according to Christ.

01:25:19.260 --> 01:25:22.260
And he should have a say in who's a Christian, right?

01:25:23.260 --> 01:25:25.260
You are not.

01:25:26.260 --> 01:25:28.260
But if you have received Christ,

01:25:31.260 --> 01:25:34.260
then he lives in me.

01:25:34.260 --> 01:25:36.260
And the old has died.

01:25:36.260 --> 01:25:38.260
The new has come.

01:25:40.260 --> 01:25:42.260
Now Christ lives in me.

01:25:44.260 --> 01:25:47.260
You open me up, you'll find him there.

01:25:49.260 --> 01:25:54.260
This is why, if I die tonight, I will see him instantly.

01:25:54.260 --> 01:25:58.260
Because only that which is perfect can enter into perfection.

01:25:59.260 --> 01:26:00.260
I am perfect.

01:26:00.260 --> 01:26:02.260
Really, Jacob? Yeah.

01:26:02.260 --> 01:26:05.260
How? The perfect one lives in me.

01:26:06.260 --> 01:26:10.260
When that which is perfect lives in you, you become perfect.

01:26:11.260 --> 01:26:16.260
That is why, if tonight you die, you instantly are in the presence of God.

01:26:16.260 --> 01:26:21.260
And if that is not your experience, you will not see the face of God.

01:26:21.260 --> 01:26:23.260
The one who created you.

01:26:23.260 --> 01:26:24.260
The one who loves you.

01:26:24.260 --> 01:26:26.260
But how can one who loves you reject you?

01:26:26.260 --> 01:26:27.260
He didn't.

01:26:27.260 --> 01:26:29.260
He paid a price to get you back.

01:26:29.260 --> 01:26:30.260
But you can reject him.

01:26:30.260 --> 01:26:33.260
I'm tired of the crock that people come up with saying,

01:26:33.260 --> 01:26:37.260
if God is loving, then why does he let people go to hell?

01:26:37.260 --> 01:26:39.260
He did not create hell for man.

01:26:39.260 --> 01:26:41.260
There is nobody in hell right now.

01:26:41.260 --> 01:26:43.260
Hell is empty.

01:26:43.260 --> 01:26:47.260
It's only at the end of times that death and Hades

01:26:47.260 --> 01:26:50.260
and those that choose not to receive Christ

01:26:50.260 --> 01:26:52.260
can choose to go where they want.

01:26:53.260 --> 01:26:57.260
Christ paid a price to buy you back with love.

01:26:57.260 --> 01:27:00.260
So I'm tired of the crock when people say,

01:27:00.260 --> 01:27:02.260
oh, why does a loving God reject people?

01:27:02.260 --> 01:27:06.260
A loving God put down his own life so that you could have a way back to him.

01:27:06.260 --> 01:27:08.260
And you're the one rejecting him, not me.

01:27:08.260 --> 01:27:10.260
You're the one rejecting him, not he rejecting you.

01:27:10.260 --> 01:27:15.260
Please, just follow the sequence and the logic of what we've been talking about,

01:27:15.260 --> 01:27:17.260
and it'll be obvious.

01:27:17.260 --> 01:27:20.260
But people don't have the time to sit through this logic, right?

01:27:20.260 --> 01:27:22.260
They want instant answers.

01:27:24.260 --> 01:27:26.260
Any questions?

01:27:28.260 --> 01:27:30.260
Sorry, that was just a...

01:27:30.260 --> 01:27:32.260
Yeah.

01:27:32.260 --> 01:27:36.260
So all that people didn't know about the game that they had.

01:27:36.260 --> 01:27:38.260
We'll talk about that.

01:27:38.260 --> 01:27:40.260
The ones before lived by the law,

01:27:40.260 --> 01:27:45.260
and the Bible says anyone who lives by the law will also be judged by the law.

01:27:45.260 --> 01:27:48.260
And if you break one law, it's like having broken everything else.

01:27:48.260 --> 01:27:52.260
So all they could do was offer the sacrifice of bulls and goats to take care of the sins.

01:27:52.260 --> 01:27:55.260
Every year there would be a thing called the Feast of Atonement.

01:27:55.260 --> 01:27:59.260
The Jews celebrated even today, the Day of Atonement.

01:27:59.260 --> 01:28:01.260
Atonement meaning what?

01:28:01.260 --> 01:28:03.260
Oh God, as we offer these bulls and goats,

01:28:03.260 --> 01:28:05.260
I hope it atones for our sin.

01:28:06.260 --> 01:28:08.260
And that's what all religions keep doing.

01:28:08.260 --> 01:28:10.260
We are atoning for our sins.

01:28:10.260 --> 01:28:13.260
While Christ comes and says, I am the ultimate sacrifice.

01:28:13.260 --> 01:28:19.260
Until he came, the law could not get anyone into the presence of God.

01:28:19.260 --> 01:28:23.260
Because if you break one law, the curse of breaking one law is death.

01:28:23.260 --> 01:28:26.260
Because to break one law is to sin.

01:28:26.260 --> 01:28:28.260
And the wages of sin is death.

01:28:28.260 --> 01:28:34.260
The only way to avoid this whole thing is to pretend that the wages of sin is not death.

01:28:34.260 --> 01:28:36.260
That's the only escape out of this.

01:28:36.260 --> 01:28:40.260
That's also like saying there's no gravity.

01:28:40.260 --> 01:28:43.260
Doesn't help, right?

01:28:46.260 --> 01:28:54.260
At least let us acknowledge that the reasons so many religions exist

01:28:54.260 --> 01:29:00.260
is because man is struggling to deal with sin.

01:29:00.260 --> 01:29:02.260
At least let's acknowledge that.

01:29:02.260 --> 01:29:08.260
Unless you are one of those intellectuals that is brighter than every other human being

01:29:08.260 --> 01:29:12.260
that has existed thus far and doesn't think that sin is real.

01:29:12.260 --> 01:29:16.260
But let's give some credence to the fact that so many religions exist

01:29:16.260 --> 01:29:19.260
and every religion tries only one thing.

01:29:19.260 --> 01:29:22.260
Take away the guilt of sin.

01:29:32.260 --> 01:29:53.260
Question from the audience.

01:29:53.260 --> 01:29:57.260
Yeah, so I would question the premise of your question.

01:29:57.260 --> 01:30:00.260
I'm not suppressing nothing.

01:30:00.260 --> 01:30:11.260
If you live with humility, it is because you are deeply in love with someone who is humble.

01:30:11.260 --> 01:30:14.260
And you do it freely.

01:30:14.260 --> 01:30:20.260
If you want to lay aside ambition, you're doing it because you follow someone

01:30:20.260 --> 01:30:24.260
who lays down his life for others and you're so in love with him.

01:30:24.260 --> 01:30:26.260
Your ambition doesn't matter.

01:30:26.260 --> 01:30:34.260
Everything you do has such zest, space, light, life, that you love it.

01:30:34.260 --> 01:30:37.260
Nothing is a sacrifice.

01:30:37.260 --> 01:30:40.260
Nothing in Christianity is a sacrifice.

01:30:40.260 --> 01:30:43.260
We sacrifice for each other.

01:30:43.260 --> 01:30:47.260
But for a one you love, how can you ever sacrifice?

01:30:47.260 --> 01:30:49.260
You do it because you love.

01:30:49.260 --> 01:30:52.260
I have never heard my dad or mom say,

01:30:53.260 --> 01:30:57.260
I'm sacrificing this egg for you because you love eggs.

01:30:57.260 --> 01:31:00.260
No, they don't.

01:31:00.260 --> 01:31:07.260
Dads will wait till the children have eaten and then eat the scraps that are left.

01:31:07.260 --> 01:31:14.260
So we need to understand a Christianity that is full of zest, life, love and space.

01:31:14.260 --> 01:31:16.260
It's exhilarating.

01:31:16.260 --> 01:31:20.260
It is because you're in love with the one who is humble,

01:31:20.260 --> 01:31:24.260
who is someone who doesn't think of ambition.

01:31:24.260 --> 01:31:27.260
So when others look at you, they scratch their head thinking,

01:31:27.260 --> 01:31:30.260
how is this guy enjoying life like this?

01:31:30.260 --> 01:31:35.260
And worse, you are behaving like Christ and beginning to do better.

01:31:35.260 --> 01:31:40.260
You're not doing worse.

01:31:40.260 --> 01:31:45.260
It's crazy.

01:31:45.260 --> 01:31:50.260
I am no longer suppressing anything.

01:31:50.260 --> 01:31:55.260
If sin is being overcome by suppressing sin,

01:31:55.260 --> 01:31:57.260
I'm not saying that I'm doing that or that.

01:31:57.260 --> 01:32:00.260
I'm just saying, if sin is overcome by suppressing sin,

01:32:00.260 --> 01:32:05.260
we are like any other religion in the world.

01:32:05.260 --> 01:32:07.260
Put blinders on.

01:32:07.260 --> 01:32:09.260
Don't look left or right.

01:32:09.260 --> 01:32:10.260
There are girls sitting all around.

01:32:10.260 --> 01:32:12.260
Walk straight.

01:32:12.260 --> 01:32:14.260
No, no blinders.

01:32:14.260 --> 01:32:18.260
And you can walk in Bangkok and Las Vegas without blinders.

01:32:18.260 --> 01:32:23.260
Why? Because somehow you've gotten to a point where you like him so much

01:32:23.260 --> 01:32:26.260
that to not be like him bothers you.

01:32:26.260 --> 01:32:30.260
Because no longer do you have the default of sin.

01:32:30.260 --> 01:32:32.260
This is not your normal tendency.

01:32:32.260 --> 01:32:34.260
To sin is not your normal tendency.

01:32:34.260 --> 01:32:38.260
We'll talk about that.

01:32:38.260 --> 01:32:42.260
How can, once you remove the sponge from his stomach,

01:32:42.260 --> 01:32:44.260
there's nothing there.

01:32:44.260 --> 01:32:56.260
He drinks normal water.

01:32:56.260 --> 01:33:00.260
It's crazy what God has done, man.

01:33:00.260 --> 01:33:04.260
One of the things we should attempt to understand here is who we have become.

01:33:04.260 --> 01:33:12.260
There is nothing inside of me that has a desire to sin.

01:33:12.260 --> 01:33:16.260
I am not suppressing anything.

01:33:16.260 --> 01:33:19.260
Adam had no desire to sin.

01:33:19.260 --> 01:33:21.260
He chose to disobey.

01:33:21.260 --> 01:33:23.260
He did not desire to sin.

01:33:23.260 --> 01:33:25.260
He chose to disobey.

01:33:25.260 --> 01:33:27.260
I can still choose to disobey.

01:33:27.260 --> 01:33:31.260
But within me, and this is the true condition of every person who lives

01:33:31.260 --> 01:33:33.260
and is a believer in Christ,

01:33:33.260 --> 01:33:36.260
there is nothing in me that desires to sin.

01:33:36.260 --> 01:33:38.260
You know what I used to preach before?

01:33:38.260 --> 01:33:41.260
That there is a good wolf and a bad wolf inside you.

01:33:41.260 --> 01:33:46.260
And depending on which wolf you feed, that's the one you get.

01:33:46.260 --> 01:33:50.260
That is not how Christianity works.

01:33:50.260 --> 01:33:55.260
The bad wolf was crucified with Christ.

01:33:55.260 --> 01:33:59.260
It no longer lives, but Christ lives in me.

01:33:59.260 --> 01:34:02.260
There's only a good wolf now.

01:34:02.260 --> 01:34:04.260
So I am suppressing the bad wolf.

01:34:04.260 --> 01:34:07.260
There's no tug of war happening inside me.

01:34:07.260 --> 01:34:11.260
Paul speaks of this in Romans chapter 7, and he's speaking as a Jew.

01:34:11.260 --> 01:34:15.260
He says in Romans chapter 7, oh, look at my wretched condition.

01:34:15.260 --> 01:34:19.260
When I want to do good, evil is there.

01:34:19.260 --> 01:34:22.260
I try doing good, I end up doing bad.

01:34:22.260 --> 01:34:26.260
And he's talking as a Jew who was practicing Jewish law.

01:34:26.260 --> 01:34:29.260
And then in Romans 8, he opens with this crescendo.

01:34:29.260 --> 01:34:33.260
But thank God for Christ, and because I am in Christ,

01:34:33.260 --> 01:34:36.260
therefore now there is no condemnation for those that are in Christ,

01:34:36.260 --> 01:34:41.260
for the spirit of life of Christ has set me free from the law of sin and death.

01:34:41.260 --> 01:34:43.260
That's exactly what we're talking about.

01:34:43.260 --> 01:34:46.260
Something died. I'm set free from that.

01:34:46.260 --> 01:34:50.260
He is no longer my slave because he escaped last night because he died.

01:34:50.260 --> 01:34:53.260
Do you actually believe that something in you died?

01:34:53.260 --> 01:34:58.260
If you don't believe that, this is very hard to comprehend.

01:34:58.260 --> 01:35:03.260
That the only thing remaining in you now is something that is absolutely new

01:35:03.260 --> 01:35:08.260
and has only Christ in you.

01:35:08.260 --> 01:35:12.260
This, if I don't really believe this, I'll struggle.

01:35:12.260 --> 01:35:20.260
It's like having money in your bank and not knowing that you have it.

01:35:20.260 --> 01:35:25.260
There's nothing in me that wants to sin.

01:35:25.260 --> 01:35:35.260
Yeah, so let's go there next.

01:35:35.260 --> 01:35:41.260
You're back to being Jesus.

01:35:41.260 --> 01:35:46.260
There might be a movie career for you out of this.

01:35:46.260 --> 01:35:50.260
This is Jesus and I'm a born-again person.

01:35:50.260 --> 01:35:52.260
Yeah, let's compare again.

01:35:52.260 --> 01:35:55.260
Does Jesus have a body?

01:35:55.260 --> 01:35:59.260
Do I have a body? Yes, very obvious.

01:35:59.260 --> 01:36:02.260
Did Jesus have thinking and feeling?

01:36:02.260 --> 01:36:04.260
Do I have thinking and feeling?

01:36:04.260 --> 01:36:07.260
Was Jesus exposed to temptation?

01:36:07.260 --> 01:36:09.260
Am I exposed to temptation?

01:36:09.260 --> 01:36:13.260
Did Jesus have a pure spirit?

01:36:13.260 --> 01:36:15.260
Do I have a pure spirit?

01:36:15.260 --> 01:36:18.260
Absolutely, I'm born again.

01:36:18.260 --> 01:36:20.260
Was Jesus full of the Holy Spirit?

01:36:20.260 --> 01:36:23.260
Am I full of the Holy Spirit?

01:36:23.260 --> 01:36:25.260
What in the world is the difference?

01:36:25.260 --> 01:36:27.260
There's only one difference.

01:36:27.260 --> 01:36:29.260
He could have lived on forever.

01:36:29.260 --> 01:36:31.260
I will die.

01:36:31.260 --> 01:36:35.260
I will die because I was born in sin.

01:36:35.260 --> 01:36:38.260
Yeah, and Jesus could have lived on forever because there was no...

01:36:38.260 --> 01:36:40.260
He wasn't conceived in sin.

01:36:40.260 --> 01:36:41.260
I will die.

01:36:41.260 --> 01:36:45.260
That is the only difference between someone who's born again and Jesus.

01:36:45.260 --> 01:36:49.260
It's crazy the advantage that we have

01:36:49.260 --> 01:36:53.260
because the Holy Spirit is a person.

01:36:53.260 --> 01:36:55.260
He's not a quantity.

01:36:55.260 --> 01:36:58.260
He's not a little bit of,

01:36:58.260 --> 01:37:00.260
oh hallelujah, I have become born again.

01:37:00.260 --> 01:37:02.260
And when you become born again,

01:37:02.260 --> 01:37:06.260
a deposit of the Holy Spirit enters you.

01:37:06.260 --> 01:37:10.260
And then as you get holier and you attend church and you lead worship,

01:37:10.260 --> 01:37:12.260
more Holy Spirit comes into you.

01:37:15.260 --> 01:37:18.260
This is a common theology.

01:37:18.260 --> 01:37:20.260
And then if you speak in tongues,

01:37:20.260 --> 01:37:25.260
that means a lot of Holy Spirit is in the room.

01:37:25.260 --> 01:37:27.260
This is theology.

01:37:27.260 --> 01:37:28.260
It's practiced in many churches.

01:37:28.260 --> 01:37:29.260
I taught it.

01:37:29.260 --> 01:37:30.260
I practiced it.

01:37:30.260 --> 01:37:31.260
It is not true.

01:37:31.260 --> 01:37:36.260
The Holy Spirit is a person.

01:37:36.260 --> 01:37:39.260
If I went to Pawan's house,

01:37:39.260 --> 01:37:42.260
I can't stand with one foot outside and one foot inside saying,

01:37:42.260 --> 01:37:43.260
I'm in, I'm out.

01:37:43.260 --> 01:37:44.260
I can't do that.

01:37:44.260 --> 01:37:51.260
I'm either in his house or I'm outside his house.

01:37:51.260 --> 01:37:53.260
But once I enter Pawan's house,

01:37:53.260 --> 01:37:56.260
it's up to Pawan whether he takes me into the living room,

01:37:56.260 --> 01:37:59.260
the bedroom, the kitchen, and shows me around the house.

01:37:59.260 --> 01:38:01.260
So here's the thing.

01:38:01.260 --> 01:38:07.260
This is where James' coffee gets completely destroyed.

01:38:07.260 --> 01:38:11.260
And after this, I will return it to you.

01:38:11.260 --> 01:38:15.260
This is a believer.

01:38:15.260 --> 01:38:18.260
He is full of the Holy Spirit.

01:38:18.260 --> 01:38:22.260
But to the extent that he yields to the Holy Spirit,

01:38:22.260 --> 01:38:27.260
to that extent, he begins to look like Jesus.

01:38:27.260 --> 01:38:32.260
All of us have the same Holy Spirit, same degree, same person,

01:38:32.260 --> 01:38:36.260
nothing less, same amount of Holy Spirit as Jesus did.

01:38:36.260 --> 01:38:46.260
But the more I yield to him, the more I look like Jesus.

01:38:46.260 --> 01:38:55.260
You want it in the coffee or out?

01:38:55.260 --> 01:39:00.260
Let us return the coffee to James.

01:39:00.260 --> 01:39:02.260
Thank you, James.

01:39:02.260 --> 01:39:05.260
There's always someone in every session who brings coffee.

01:39:05.260 --> 01:39:12.260
I don't know why.

01:39:12.260 --> 01:39:23.260
It's just paper, yeah.

01:39:23.260 --> 01:39:25.260
I mean, I don't understand what the problem is.

01:39:25.260 --> 01:39:27.260
You pour coffee in a paper cup.

01:39:27.260 --> 01:39:34.260
Here you put paper into a coffee cup.

01:39:34.260 --> 01:39:39.260
So now let's talk about why are things a struggle

01:39:39.260 --> 01:39:44.260
if I don't have a problem with a default to sin?

01:39:44.260 --> 01:39:46.260
Why do I still struggle?

01:39:46.260 --> 01:39:47.260
Let's talk about that.

01:39:47.260 --> 01:39:53.260
Guys, everything moves down this pathway.

01:39:53.260 --> 01:39:56.260
Everything is a choice.

01:39:56.260 --> 01:39:59.260
The choice becomes a...

01:39:59.260 --> 01:40:03.260
No, everything begins as a struggle.

01:40:03.260 --> 01:40:05.260
The struggle becomes a choice.

01:40:05.260 --> 01:40:08.260
The choice becomes a preference.

01:40:08.260 --> 01:40:11.260
The preference becomes a default.

01:40:11.260 --> 01:40:14.260
This is a movement of our Christian life.

01:40:14.260 --> 01:40:19.260
Initially, because we've gotten used to a certain way of functioning,

01:40:19.260 --> 01:40:21.260
it's a struggle.

01:40:21.260 --> 01:40:26.260
But we move from struggle to choice, choice to preference,

01:40:26.260 --> 01:40:31.260
preference to default in everything in our lives.

01:40:31.260 --> 01:40:54.260
What causes this movement?

01:40:54.260 --> 01:40:59.260
So I want to tell you, I've known Kezia from Bahrain,

01:40:59.260 --> 01:41:01.260
and I've known Dawn for a few years.

01:41:01.260 --> 01:41:03.260
There are certain things about the marriage that you don't know

01:41:03.260 --> 01:41:07.260
that I want to share with you.

01:41:07.260 --> 01:41:09.260
Please, I'm already saying please.

01:41:09.260 --> 01:41:15.260
So Dawn was a guy who loved movies where there's a lot of dishoom-dishoom,

01:41:15.260 --> 01:41:17.260
like fighting.

01:41:17.260 --> 01:41:21.260
And Kezia was someone who loved movies where you cry a lot.

01:41:21.260 --> 01:41:25.260
And Dawn didn't know this when he first got engaged to her.

01:41:25.260 --> 01:41:28.260
And then one day he's sitting with her,

01:41:28.260 --> 01:41:33.260
and he realizes she likes watching these chick flicks where you cry like crazy.

01:41:33.260 --> 01:41:37.260
He likes movies where you fight.

01:41:37.260 --> 01:41:40.260
And he thinks, oh my God, this is going to be a problem for the next few years.

01:41:40.260 --> 01:41:45.260
But then as he begins to spend time with her, he begins to really begin to like her.

01:41:45.260 --> 01:41:48.260
And it's Friday, and she says, we need to go pick up a movie.

01:41:48.260 --> 01:41:52.260
So they drive to Blockbusters, which used to be a movie shop long ago,

01:41:52.260 --> 01:41:55.260
and they go and rent a DVD, and they come home.

01:41:55.260 --> 01:41:59.260
And the first time they go there, Dawn doesn't even pay for the movie.

01:41:59.260 --> 01:42:01.260
Kezia has to pay out of her own pocket.

01:42:01.260 --> 01:42:04.260
And they come and they sit, and they begin to watch this movie.

01:42:04.260 --> 01:42:08.260
And within seconds, Kezia is like, oh, and Dawn doesn't know what to do.

01:42:08.260 --> 01:42:12.260
So he puts his arm around and taps it a couple of times and says, it's okay, it's okay.

01:42:12.260 --> 01:42:15.260
And then he falls off to sleep.

01:42:15.260 --> 01:42:19.260
But now as the days go, you guys don't know this story, right?

01:42:19.260 --> 01:42:21.260
Okay, so now as the days go by,

01:42:21.260 --> 01:42:23.260
and if you notice, they're not denying it either.

01:42:23.260 --> 01:42:31.260
So now as the days go by, he begins to really like her more.

01:42:31.260 --> 01:42:35.260
Like he thinks, my God, this woman is actually sent from God.

01:42:35.260 --> 01:42:36.260
I really like her.

01:42:36.260 --> 01:42:38.260
So it's Friday again.

01:42:38.260 --> 01:42:41.260
And so she says, we need to watch a movie today.

01:42:41.260 --> 01:42:43.260
And he says, yes, yes, I'll come with you.

01:42:43.260 --> 01:42:47.260
He goes to Blockbuster, and this time he pulls out his wallet and pays for the movie.

01:42:47.260 --> 01:42:50.260
And they come home and they sit.

01:42:50.260 --> 01:42:51.260
She starts bawling.

01:42:51.260 --> 01:42:54.260
And he puts his arm around her like for four minutes.

01:42:54.260 --> 01:43:01.260
Yeah, and just comforts her while she cries and then promptly falls off to sleep.

01:43:01.260 --> 01:43:04.260
Three months into the marriage, he's like head over heels over her.

01:43:04.260 --> 01:43:06.260
Like he tells everybody about her.

01:43:06.260 --> 01:43:08.260
She's the most beautiful thing that has happened to me.

01:43:08.260 --> 01:43:09.260
My God, my heart is stained.

01:43:09.260 --> 01:43:12.260
It goes thump, thump, thump every time I see her and stuff like that.

01:43:12.260 --> 01:43:15.260
And so it's Friday.

01:43:15.260 --> 01:43:17.260
And he tells her it's Friday.

01:43:17.260 --> 01:43:19.260
We need to go pick up a movie.

01:43:19.260 --> 01:43:21.260
And then he goes there.

01:43:21.260 --> 01:43:25.260
And while she's going looking for a movie, he pulls out her list, says,

01:43:25.260 --> 01:43:27.260
these are the 10 saddest movies in the world.

01:43:27.260 --> 01:43:28.260
And he gives it to her.

01:43:28.260 --> 01:43:30.260
And he says, let's pick this one.

01:43:30.260 --> 01:43:31.260
And he picks it.

01:43:31.260 --> 01:43:32.260
And they go.

01:43:32.260 --> 01:43:33.260
And they watch.

01:43:33.260 --> 01:43:36.260
And now he's got a towel on his shoulder so that she can sob on it.

01:43:36.260 --> 01:43:37.260
Yeah.

01:43:37.260 --> 01:43:39.260
And they watch it together.

01:43:39.260 --> 01:43:43.260
And it's like 15 minutes into the movie.

01:43:43.260 --> 01:43:45.260
She's sobbing and he's comforting her.

01:43:45.260 --> 01:43:48.260
Eventually, at the 20th minute, he falls out of sleep.

01:43:48.260 --> 01:43:51.260
Six months into the wedding, he's head over heels over her.

01:43:51.260 --> 01:43:53.260
He's like clay in her hands.

01:43:53.260 --> 01:43:55.260
She makes him do whatever she wants to.

01:43:55.260 --> 01:43:56.260
Yeah?

01:43:56.260 --> 01:43:59.260
Throwing garbage out, petting the cat is not a problem at all.

01:43:59.260 --> 01:44:01.260
And so now it's a Friday night.

01:44:01.260 --> 01:44:03.260
And here's what happens.

01:44:03.260 --> 01:44:04.260
She's working.

01:44:04.260 --> 01:44:06.260
And she finishes work.

01:44:06.260 --> 01:44:07.260
And he picks her up.

01:44:07.260 --> 01:44:09.260
And she says, we've got to go pick up a movie.

01:44:09.260 --> 01:44:10.260
He says, don't worry.

01:44:10.260 --> 01:44:11.260
I've taken care of it.

01:44:11.260 --> 01:44:12.260
She says, what?

01:44:12.260 --> 01:44:15.260
Did you pick up a movie that will do a lot of fighting?

01:44:15.260 --> 01:44:17.260
He says, no, I don't like fighting movies.

01:44:17.260 --> 01:44:21.260
And he picks this really sad tear-jerker.

01:44:21.260 --> 01:44:23.260
And she comes home.

01:44:23.260 --> 01:44:26.260
And he opens the door for her.

01:44:26.260 --> 01:44:29.260
And there are tear-shaped petals on the ground.

01:44:29.260 --> 01:44:34.260
And she's fascinated as he takes her, seats her.

01:44:34.260 --> 01:44:37.260
And then she notices popcorn.

01:44:37.260 --> 01:44:40.260
And she says, saltless or salted?

01:44:40.260 --> 01:44:42.260
He says, we will salt it with our tears.

01:44:42.260 --> 01:44:50.260
And so you've got tear-shaped petals.

01:44:50.260 --> 01:44:52.260
You've got saltless popcorn.

01:44:52.260 --> 01:44:53.260
And they sit together.

01:44:53.260 --> 01:44:57.260
And 15 minutes into the movie, she looks at him.

01:44:57.260 --> 01:44:59.260
And he's crying.

01:44:59.260 --> 01:45:02.260
And they sit and watch the entire movie together.

01:45:02.260 --> 01:45:08.260
And it is a moment that is so magical that Don and Kezia can never forget it in their lives.

01:45:08.260 --> 01:45:09.260
What happened?

01:45:09.260 --> 01:45:14.260
How did someone go from struggle to choice to preference to default?

01:45:14.260 --> 01:45:20.260
How did Don end up having movies that make you cry as his default

01:45:20.260 --> 01:45:25.260
when he actually used to begin with Jean-Claude Van Damme?

01:45:25.260 --> 01:45:28.260
If you haven't watched his movies, don't.

01:45:28.260 --> 01:45:30.260
It's worse than Arnold Schwarzenegger.

01:45:30.260 --> 01:45:31.260
Yeah?

01:45:31.260 --> 01:45:33.260
So how come it happened?

01:45:33.260 --> 01:45:34.260
What changed?

01:45:35.260 --> 01:45:40.260
What is it that makes you change from struggle to choice to preference to default?

01:45:40.260 --> 01:45:42.260
It's just one thing.

01:45:42.260 --> 01:45:49.260
As you begin to like someone, you begin to move from your taste, your likes, your dislikes

01:45:49.260 --> 01:45:52.260
to that person's taste, likes, dislikes.

01:45:52.260 --> 01:45:57.260
Haven't you noticed Derek's dressing?

01:45:57.260 --> 01:46:00.260
Is there any doubt that this works?

01:46:00.260 --> 01:46:04.260
Derek used to be the most uncoordinated dresser in the church.

01:46:04.260 --> 01:46:06.260
Today?

01:46:06.260 --> 01:46:08.260
It's crazy.

01:46:08.260 --> 01:46:09.260
Yeah.

01:46:12.260 --> 01:46:14.260
The point being this.

01:46:14.260 --> 01:46:22.260
As you begin to like someone, you move from struggle to choice to preference to default.

01:46:22.260 --> 01:46:26.260
Sin goes away only like this.

01:46:26.260 --> 01:46:28.260
No sin goes away because you pray.

01:46:28.260 --> 01:46:30.260
No sin goes away because you fast.

01:46:30.260 --> 01:46:33.260
No sin goes away because you've been delivered.

01:46:33.260 --> 01:46:36.260
It goes away but it comes back.

01:46:36.260 --> 01:46:39.260
No sin goes away because people pray for you.

01:46:39.260 --> 01:46:41.260
It'll go away for a while, three days, four days.

01:46:41.260 --> 01:46:47.260
The only time sin goes away is when you like something else more than sin.

01:46:47.260 --> 01:46:53.260
Let's assume fighting movies are sin and tearful movies are godly.

01:46:53.260 --> 01:47:02.260
The only way it changes is when you begin to like someone more than the sin.

01:47:02.260 --> 01:47:06.260
There are situations where god will instantly deliver you from things.

01:47:06.260 --> 01:47:13.260
But most other things follow this process.

01:47:13.260 --> 01:47:14.260
You can follow me in a mall.

01:47:14.260 --> 01:47:16.260
You can follow me in Las Vegas.

01:47:16.260 --> 01:47:17.260
You can follow me in Bangkok.

01:47:17.260 --> 01:47:21.260
You will not find me looking at every woman that passes by.

01:47:21.260 --> 01:47:22.260
And it is not because I'm a pastor.

01:47:22.260 --> 01:47:23.260
It's not because I'm a Christian.

01:47:23.260 --> 01:47:24.260
It's not because I've got to preach.

01:47:24.260 --> 01:47:26.260
It's not because of any other reason.

01:47:26.260 --> 01:47:37.260
But I have begun to like someone who is pure and holy to the point now where I enjoy behaving a way that pleases him.

01:47:45.260 --> 01:47:47.260
Was it a struggle? Yes.

01:47:47.260 --> 01:47:50.260
But is it a default now? Yes. Why?

01:47:50.260 --> 01:47:57.260
Because within me, there is nothing compelling me to sin because he escaped my mastery.

01:47:57.260 --> 01:48:00.260
Now it's only a question of working on this.

01:48:00.260 --> 01:48:04.260
Guys, Christianity is crazy.

01:48:04.260 --> 01:48:07.260
Your body is the same.

01:48:07.260 --> 01:48:12.260
When you die, you'll be given a brand new body.

01:48:12.260 --> 01:48:13.260
So that's waiting to happen.

01:48:13.260 --> 01:48:17.260
Your spirit is brand new and Christ lives in you.

01:48:17.260 --> 01:48:20.260
That work is already done.

01:48:20.260 --> 01:48:27.260
The only work that has to happen while we are living on earth is thinking and feeling.

01:48:27.260 --> 01:48:28.260
How do we change that?

01:48:28.260 --> 01:48:29.260
The Bible is very clear.

01:48:29.260 --> 01:48:35.260
Do not be conformed to the world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.

01:48:35.260 --> 01:48:36.260
How?

01:48:36.260 --> 01:48:38.260
By the spirit, by the body.

01:48:38.260 --> 01:48:39.260
That's all.

01:48:39.260 --> 01:48:42.260
That is our only struggle.

01:48:42.260 --> 01:48:45.260
And as you do this, you'll find yourself constantly changing.

01:48:45.260 --> 01:48:48.260
How come I don't use filthy words?

01:48:48.260 --> 01:48:53.260
I used to use F words like it was punctuation.

01:48:53.260 --> 01:48:54.260
How come I don't?

01:48:54.260 --> 01:48:58.260
How come even when someone cuts me off in traffic, it doesn't come up?

01:48:58.260 --> 01:49:01.260
How come I'm not trying to suppress bad words?

01:49:01.260 --> 01:49:03.260
How come I'm not trying to suppress bad words?

01:49:03.260 --> 01:49:06.260
At least I should come to here and go down because I'm a pastor.

01:49:06.260 --> 01:49:09.260
But how come it isn't there?

01:49:09.260 --> 01:49:16.260
How come porn is not something that I have to struggle to fight to stay away from?

01:49:16.260 --> 01:49:20.260
Why is it that I'm changing in every area in my life?

01:49:20.260 --> 01:49:22.260
Because I've got more of the spirit than you?

01:49:22.260 --> 01:49:24.260
Absolutely not.

01:49:24.260 --> 01:49:29.260
It's because as you begin to like someone more, you start to like them more.

01:49:29.260 --> 01:49:31.260
Absolutely not.

01:49:31.260 --> 01:49:35.260
It's because as you begin to like someone more, your struggle becomes a choice,

01:49:35.260 --> 01:49:37.260
becomes a preference, becomes a default.

01:49:37.260 --> 01:49:40.260
Because in the soul, in your thinking and feeling, you're changing, you're changing.

01:49:40.260 --> 01:49:45.260
And there is nobody here who's a believer who hasn't changed.

01:49:45.260 --> 01:49:49.260
And if you didn't change because the spirit of God entered you and transformed you,

01:49:49.260 --> 01:49:55.260
you changed because you cooperated with the spirit of God and you like God.

01:49:55.260 --> 01:49:58.260
Which brings us to another question.

01:49:58.260 --> 01:50:01.260
How do you like God more?

01:50:01.260 --> 01:50:06.260
How do you like God more?

01:50:06.260 --> 01:50:09.260
How do you like God more?

01:50:09.260 --> 01:50:17.260
How do you like God more?

01:50:17.260 --> 01:50:19.260
Usual answers.

01:50:19.260 --> 01:50:29.260
Pray. Read Bible. Worship. Spend time.

01:50:29.260 --> 01:50:44.260
Attend. Sunday. Pursuit. Quest. Revive. Wally. And Toonie.

01:50:44.260 --> 01:50:48.260
How do you like God more? You like God by doing all these things.

01:50:48.260 --> 01:50:53.260
Wally and Toonie sound like two people in the church.

01:50:53.260 --> 01:50:55.260
How do you like God more?

01:50:55.260 --> 01:51:00.260
Usually the answer is, if we do this, it shows that we like God more.

01:51:00.260 --> 01:51:02.260
And it's so not true.

01:51:02.260 --> 01:51:07.260
How do you like God more?

01:51:07.260 --> 01:51:16.260
You cannot like God more till you begin to kind of recognize how much God likes you

01:51:16.260 --> 01:51:18.260
and then begin to respond to it.

01:51:18.260 --> 01:51:20.260
You cannot like God more.

01:51:20.260 --> 01:51:22.260
How much will you pray?

01:51:22.260 --> 01:51:25.260
Ten minutes? What if he goes to pray 15 minutes?

01:51:25.260 --> 01:51:28.260
How much will you read? Four chapters?

01:51:28.260 --> 01:51:31.260
What if Echo goes to read six chapters?

01:51:31.260 --> 01:51:36.260
This is measures. You can never do this.

01:51:36.260 --> 01:51:39.260
When, who shall we pick on?

01:51:39.260 --> 01:51:42.260
Amari and Remy.

01:51:42.260 --> 01:51:49.260
When Amari was born, Remy came.

01:51:49.260 --> 01:51:57.260
By now, Amari had counted Yahya's fingers and toes and nose and all that stuff and found that Yahya was fine.

01:51:57.260 --> 01:52:05.260
And so Remy comes in like a big dad and he picks up Yahya and Yahya looks at him strangely and thinks to herself,

01:52:05.260 --> 01:52:08.260
who is this fellow? His face doesn't look as soft as my mom.

01:52:08.260 --> 01:52:10.260
His hands are rough.

01:52:10.260 --> 01:52:15.260
And she's making these strange sounds because Remy is going, and she's not understanding why.

01:52:15.260 --> 01:52:20.260
And so Remy does that for two minutes and then he takes the child and gives it back to Amari.

01:52:20.260 --> 01:52:22.260
Next day, around the same time, Remy comes again.

01:52:22.260 --> 01:52:27.260
Again, he makes those silly sounds and this time Yahya decides she's going to like drool over her.

01:52:27.260 --> 01:52:32.260
So she opens her mouth and a whole lot of saliva comes on Remy's face, but he still makes these Google noises.

01:52:32.260 --> 01:52:37.260
And then he touches her and she says, rough face again, gives it back to Amari.

01:52:37.260 --> 01:52:42.260
Third day it happens again, fourth day it happens again, fifth day it happens again, sixth day she knows this man is coming in,

01:52:42.260 --> 01:52:47.260
that man with the rough face and rough hands that has a strange smell that is not like her mom's.

01:52:47.260 --> 01:52:51.260
And she picks him up again and looks at her, makes noise, puts it on.

01:52:51.260 --> 01:52:54.260
Seventh day he comes and something strange happens.

01:52:54.260 --> 01:53:02.260
As he goes to pick her up, Yahya takes a little hand and she grabs Remy's little finger and won't let go.

01:53:02.260 --> 01:53:04.260
And Remy starts weeping.

01:53:05.260 --> 01:53:09.260
Because it's the most amazing moment in his life.

01:53:09.260 --> 01:53:14.260
And she won't let go. He can easily pull his hand, but he won't.

01:53:14.260 --> 01:53:18.260
He spent the last six days lifting her up, showing her how much he loves.

01:53:18.260 --> 01:53:20.260
The child would look at him strangely.

01:53:20.260 --> 01:53:26.260
Five days, six days, seven days, and then suddenly the child responds and grabs his hand and won't let go.

01:53:26.260 --> 01:53:29.260
And it changes his life forever.

01:53:29.260 --> 01:53:32.260
So the question is, who loved whom first?

01:53:32.260 --> 01:53:37.260
Did Yahya love Remy first or did Remy love Yahya first?

01:53:39.260 --> 01:53:47.260
Yahya is not in a position to respond to Remy and love him more,

01:53:47.260 --> 01:53:55.260
till she experiences again and again and again and again and again

01:53:55.260 --> 01:54:03.260
The love of the father towards the daughter and then one day the daughter just responds spontaneously,

01:54:03.260 --> 01:54:11.260
naturally, without thinking and grabs his finger and Remy will do nothing to remove it for the rest of his life.

01:54:13.260 --> 01:54:15.260
Who loved whom first?

01:54:15.260 --> 01:54:18.260
The father loves the child first.

01:54:18.260 --> 01:54:26.260
And at some point after receiving love for a period of time, the child begins to respond.

01:54:26.260 --> 01:54:28.260
Which is why in 1 John it says,

01:54:34.260 --> 01:54:44.260
It is not possible to like God more unless I spend time being loved by God.

01:54:44.260 --> 01:54:51.260
It is the secret, it is the key, it is the doorway into successful Christianity.

01:54:53.260 --> 01:55:07.260
If I cannot find time to experience, taste, savor what it looks like to be loved by an invisible yet absolutely present father,

01:55:07.260 --> 01:55:09.260
I will not be able to respond.

01:55:09.260 --> 01:55:19.260
All I will do is pray more, read the Bible more, worship more and it will become a chore, it will become a duty, it will become an obligation.

01:55:19.260 --> 01:55:25.260
It will be like husbands coming home with flowers every day for 40 years saying, I love you and give the flowers.

01:55:25.260 --> 01:55:28.260
It doesn't mean anything.

01:55:33.260 --> 01:55:36.260
This is the secret to Christianity.

01:55:37.260 --> 01:55:41.260
And so you might say, but how will I experience God?

01:55:41.260 --> 01:55:43.260
It's so hard to experience God.

01:55:43.260 --> 01:55:44.260
He's invisible.

01:55:44.260 --> 01:55:46.260
I can't see Him.

01:55:51.260 --> 01:55:53.260
Thank God that doesn't happen.

01:55:55.260 --> 01:55:58.260
You think He's invisible, He isn't present, He's far away.

01:55:58.260 --> 01:56:04.260
But I want to say to you that He is closer than your own spirit.

01:56:05.260 --> 01:56:11.260
It is absolutely possible for someone who has received Christ to experience the love of Christ.

01:56:11.260 --> 01:56:15.260
It is a lie if you believe that it is not possible.

01:56:15.260 --> 01:56:17.260
You're believing an absolute lie.

01:56:17.260 --> 01:56:22.260
It would be like me telling you that the sun is not going to rise tomorrow because I heard it from Trump.

01:56:24.260 --> 01:56:28.260
If you believe that, that's absurd.

01:56:28.260 --> 01:56:33.260
Very clearly God says, very clearly God says, listen, I'm praying for you.

01:56:33.260 --> 01:56:38.260
Ephesians 1.18, that you may know the breadth, the depth, the height, the width of my love.

01:56:38.260 --> 01:56:41.260
Why would he pray for something that you cannot experience?

01:56:43.260 --> 01:56:46.260
It is absolutely possible to experience it.

01:56:48.260 --> 01:56:50.260
And it's not yours.

01:56:50.260 --> 01:56:53.260
It is not Yahya's to say, where is that man with a rough face?

01:56:53.260 --> 01:56:55.260
He hasn't come yet.

01:56:55.260 --> 01:56:56.260
Come quickly and love me.

01:56:56.260 --> 01:56:57.260
No, no, no, no.

01:56:57.260 --> 01:56:59.260
It's not yours to make God love you.

01:56:59.260 --> 01:57:02.260
It is God's to make sure that He loves you.

01:57:03.260 --> 01:57:06.260
Yours is not the responsibility.

01:57:06.260 --> 01:57:10.260
It is not the responsibility of the child to have the parents love the child.

01:57:10.260 --> 01:57:13.260
It is the responsibility of the parent to love the child.

01:57:15.260 --> 01:57:17.260
And this parent will.

01:57:19.260 --> 01:57:20.260
Here's the other thing.

01:57:20.260 --> 01:57:22.260
Some of us have had terrible experiences with our dads.

01:57:25.260 --> 01:57:28.260
And so we can't even imagine a God who can love.

01:57:28.260 --> 01:57:35.260
Because the very idea of God as father frightens you because of what has happened in your life with your mother or with your father.

01:57:35.260 --> 01:57:43.260
But just because the copy is distorted doesn't mean the original is faulty.

01:57:45.260 --> 01:57:55.260
You can take an original, put it in a photocopying machine, and as you press the button, the copy gets caught up in the rollers and it comes out and it's mangled.

01:57:55.260 --> 01:57:56.260
It's black.

01:57:56.260 --> 01:57:57.260
It's gray.

01:57:57.260 --> 01:57:58.260
It's completely distorted.

01:57:58.260 --> 01:58:03.260
And you look at the copy and you think, my God, I don't want to touch this again.

01:58:03.260 --> 01:58:10.260
But as you open the photocopier to pull out the original, you look at the original and it's still as perfect as it's supposed to be.

01:58:12.260 --> 01:58:23.260
One of the ways we end up thinking God is a grotesque monster is because of the grotesque monsters that humans have been in our lives which distorts the face of God.

01:58:23.260 --> 01:58:29.260
We superimpose our experience on the face of God and it prevents us from approaching him.

01:58:29.260 --> 01:58:30.260
But guess what?

01:58:30.260 --> 01:58:36.260
Give him a chance and he will show you what it is to be loved because he made you.

01:58:36.260 --> 01:58:37.260
Who knows you better?

01:58:41.260 --> 01:58:44.260
So what happened to all the people who lived before Christ?

01:58:50.260 --> 01:58:52.260
What happened to all the people who lived before Christ?

01:58:53.260 --> 01:59:07.260
Let's say his name was Lazarus and let's say his name was Lazarus.

01:59:07.260 --> 01:59:09.260
Yeah? Lazarus and Lazarus.

01:59:09.260 --> 01:59:18.260
And Lazarus was a righteous man because he lived by the law.

01:59:18.260 --> 01:59:20.260
He tried to obey the law that Moses had given.

01:59:20.260 --> 01:59:24.260
And Lazarus was a messy man and he was unrighteous.

01:59:27.260 --> 01:59:28.260
They both die.

01:59:29.260 --> 01:59:43.260
When they both die, according to scriptures, Luke 16 and other places, they would go to a place called Hades.

01:59:45.260 --> 01:59:46.260
Hades was divided into two.

01:59:46.260 --> 01:59:55.260
One part was called Paradise or another word that the Jews used for it was Abraham's bosom.

01:59:55.260 --> 01:59:58.260
And the rest of it was called Hades.

01:59:58.260 --> 02:00:04.260
The righteous dead, because they lived by the law, would go to Paradise.

02:00:04.260 --> 02:00:07.260
The unrighteous dead would go to Hades.

02:00:07.260 --> 02:00:12.260
This was how it was till Christ came.

02:00:13.260 --> 02:00:18.260
When Christ came and he died on the cross, what are the words he uses?

02:00:18.260 --> 02:00:24.260
When the thief asks him what he says, he says, today you will be with me in Paradise.

02:00:24.260 --> 02:00:26.260
He goes to where the righteous dead go.

02:00:26.260 --> 02:00:28.260
And the thief goes there too.

02:00:29.260 --> 02:00:38.260
Then in Ephesians 4, we hear how when Christ ascended,

02:00:40.260 --> 02:00:54.260
having made those righteous by the law, now righteous by his blood.

02:00:59.260 --> 02:01:12.260
He now relocates the righteous dead in Paradise to Heaven.

02:01:12.260 --> 02:01:35.260
While Hades, where the unrighteous dead are, is a temporary place where people are till the great white throne judgment, which is at the end of time.

02:01:36.260 --> 02:01:53.260
This is why in Revelation it says, and death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire.

02:01:53.260 --> 02:02:02.260
There's nobody in Hell right now.

02:02:02.260 --> 02:02:10.260
Hell is unoccupied till the great white throne judgment.

02:02:10.260 --> 02:02:19.260
And then death and Hades, and the devil and demons.

02:02:19.260 --> 02:02:24.260
And anybody who decided to reject Christ after having known what he has done.

02:02:24.260 --> 02:02:28.260
What about those that haven't heard of Christ?

02:02:28.260 --> 02:02:34.260
A God who is fair, good, righteous, and knows the heart of man will take care of them.

02:02:34.260 --> 02:02:35.260
You don't need to worry about it.

02:02:35.260 --> 02:02:36.260
He's much fairer than you.

02:02:36.260 --> 02:02:38.260
You're outraged for a little while.

02:02:38.260 --> 02:02:44.260
He's outraged with sin and with what has happened to the people he's created forever, which is why he sent his son.

02:02:44.260 --> 02:02:47.260
So don't worry about unfair judgment.

02:02:47.260 --> 02:02:48.260
You'll be fascinated.

02:02:48.260 --> 02:02:57.260
Every time God will make a judgment and you will be there, you will fall down and worship because God knows why someone stole an apple.

02:02:57.260 --> 02:03:05.260
Someone steals an apple from you and you want the cops to put him in prison for five days because he stole your apple.

02:03:05.260 --> 02:03:11.260
God knows which man stole an apple because he is a kleptomaniac who has a problem with stealing.

02:03:11.260 --> 02:03:14.260
God knows who stole an apple because he was hungry.

02:03:14.260 --> 02:03:20.260
And God also knows who stole an apple because he wanted you to be robbed and hurt.

02:03:20.260 --> 02:03:29.260
And when he judges, he will judge based on the intents and the motives of the heart that are so invisible that you and I will be fascinated by the way he judges.

02:03:29.260 --> 02:03:39.260
And you'll fall down on the ground and worship saying, Oh God, your justice is like nothing I have heard or seen because you know the heart.

02:03:40.260 --> 02:03:46.260
Those three thieves who stole that one apple will not be judged the same way.

02:03:46.260 --> 02:03:53.260
We are the ones who have justice that deals with all three the same way.

02:03:53.260 --> 02:03:57.260
One has a problem with thieving because it's become a habit.

02:03:57.260 --> 02:03:59.260
Another one does it because he wants to harm you.

02:03:59.260 --> 02:04:02.260
Another one does it because he hasn't eaten for four days.

02:04:02.260 --> 02:04:06.260
You'll be fascinated as a justice of God.

02:04:06.260 --> 02:04:11.260
You'll be fascinated as a people that you thought shouldn't be there who will be there.

02:04:11.260 --> 02:04:16.260
And you'll be fascinated as a people who you were sure would be there who won't be there.

02:04:18.260 --> 02:04:25.260
His justice is the fairest, most equitable, most kind justice you will see.

02:04:25.260 --> 02:04:28.260
And you will worship him because he is just.

02:04:29.260 --> 02:04:31.260
The Bible talks about it.

02:04:31.260 --> 02:04:33.260
I bow before you because you are so just.

02:04:36.260 --> 02:04:48.260
These bodies, and we'll end with this, these bodies are not evil.

02:04:48.260 --> 02:04:51.260
One last.

02:04:51.260 --> 02:04:54.260
These bodies are not evil.

02:04:54.260 --> 02:05:04.260
We think Christianity and many other religions think this body is evil and that it should be punished.

02:05:04.260 --> 02:05:15.260
That's why you have Christian monks and Hindu gurus and Buddhist meditative masters go and sit on,

02:05:15.260 --> 02:05:23.260
sit in the Himalayas or sit in Jerusalem or sit on a bed of nails, choose your poison.

02:05:23.260 --> 02:05:26.260
And they go and they punish the body.

02:05:26.260 --> 02:05:28.260
They whip the body.

02:05:28.260 --> 02:05:30.260
This body is not evil.

02:05:30.260 --> 02:05:32.260
This body is good.

02:05:32.260 --> 02:05:34.260
This body is good.

02:05:34.260 --> 02:05:37.260
This body can either become an instrument of good or an instrument of bad.

02:05:37.260 --> 02:05:39.260
It's up to me.

02:05:39.260 --> 02:05:49.260
So I can either use it as an instrument of wickedness where I hit him or I can use it as an instrument of good where I take the hurt away.

02:05:49.260 --> 02:05:51.260
It's up to me.

02:05:52.260 --> 02:05:55.260
You will be raised in these bodies.

02:05:55.260 --> 02:05:58.260
They will be perfect.

02:05:58.260 --> 02:06:02.260
Your body will be the same as the body Christ had when he rose from the dead.

02:06:02.260 --> 02:06:04.260
You will eat.

02:06:06.260 --> 02:06:12.260
You will be able to travel through time and space in a way that Jesus did.

02:06:12.260 --> 02:06:14.260
You will be recognized.

02:06:14.260 --> 02:06:23.260
I will see you and say, oh, Don, same face again.

02:06:23.260 --> 02:06:26.260
But it will be a brand new body.

02:06:26.260 --> 02:06:35.260
It will be the Bible says, Jesus says to Thomas, go ahead, touch, see the scars, see the holes in my hand.

02:06:35.260 --> 02:06:37.260
Recognizable bodies.

02:06:37.260 --> 02:06:39.260
So don't despise this body.

02:06:39.260 --> 02:06:40.260
Treat it well, eh?

02:06:40.260 --> 02:06:43.260
Because these are the very bodies that you're going to be raised in.

02:06:43.260 --> 02:06:44.260
It will be brand new.

02:06:44.260 --> 02:06:45.260
It will be imperishable.

02:06:45.260 --> 02:06:47.260
It can see Christ face to face.

02:06:47.260 --> 02:06:48.260
It will be like Adam's body.

02:06:48.260 --> 02:06:51.260
It can come into an unapproachable light.

02:06:51.260 --> 02:06:53.260
It can converse with God.

02:06:53.260 --> 02:06:56.260
But it will be recognizable.

02:06:56.260 --> 02:06:58.260
We'll have an extreme makeover.

02:06:58.260 --> 02:07:00.260
You'll all look like me.

02:07:02.260 --> 02:07:05.260
And so we will be able to talk with God.

02:07:05.260 --> 02:07:07.260
We'll be able to eat with him.

02:07:07.260 --> 02:07:08.260
He did that.

02:07:08.260 --> 02:07:17.260
Please understand that Jesus had two bodies, one which he walked in after resurrection and one that they saw on the Mount of Transfiguration, where for a second he showed them his divinity.

02:07:17.260 --> 02:07:22.260
But we are talking about resurrected bodies.

02:07:22.260 --> 02:07:26.260
We are already two realm beings, guys.

02:07:26.260 --> 02:07:27.260
Where is Christ?

02:07:27.260 --> 02:07:28.260
He lives in heaven.

02:07:28.260 --> 02:07:29.260
Where is Christ?

02:07:29.260 --> 02:07:30.260
He lives in me.

02:07:30.260 --> 02:07:31.260
So where are you?

02:07:31.260 --> 02:07:33.260
Seated at his right hand.

02:07:33.260 --> 02:07:34.260
Where are you?

02:07:34.260 --> 02:07:37.260
Right now in FCC at 5855 Imperial.

02:07:40.260 --> 02:07:45.260
This is the most amazing human story ever.

02:07:45.260 --> 02:07:48.260
Star Trek doesn't hold a candle to it.

02:07:53.260 --> 02:07:56.260
And so here's what is happening continuously.

02:07:56.260 --> 02:07:58.260
Just hold this.

02:08:00.260 --> 02:08:01.260
That's your body.

02:08:04.260 --> 02:08:05.260
That's Pawan's body.

02:08:05.260 --> 02:08:07.260
You're back to being Pawan.

02:08:07.260 --> 02:08:09.260
Just hold it out a little to me.

02:08:09.260 --> 02:08:11.260
Yeah, that's Pawan's body.

02:08:11.260 --> 02:08:13.260
That's Pawan's soul.

02:08:13.260 --> 02:08:17.260
That's Pawan's spirit with the Holy Spirit dwelling in it.

02:08:18.260 --> 02:08:20.260
Every day, Pawan will have choices.

02:08:21.260 --> 02:08:25.260
And depending on who is in control, Pawan will either make a right choice or a wrong choice.

02:08:25.260 --> 02:08:33.260
When someone says something nasty to Pawan, Pawan's thinking and feeling, which is still not perfect, will say, fight back, do something.

02:08:33.260 --> 02:08:38.260
Pawan's spirit with Christ living in it will say, be like me, turn the other cheek.

02:08:39.260 --> 02:08:44.260
And depending on who is leading, Pawan will either turn the cheek or he'll fight back.

02:08:47.260 --> 02:08:53.260
And as Pawan matures as a Christian, you will find that the one in the driving seat is his spirit.

02:08:54.260 --> 02:08:57.260
And if Pawan stays immature, it will be his soul.

02:09:00.260 --> 02:09:04.260
Retraining the soul is basically being led by the spirit.

02:09:04.260 --> 02:09:08.260
The difference between a carnal Pawan and a spiritual Pawan is simply this.

02:09:08.260 --> 02:09:16.260
A spiritual Pawan operates by the spirit saturated with Christ.

02:09:17.260 --> 02:09:26.260
The carnal Pawan is a Pawan that lives by his unrenewed but in the process soul.

02:09:27.260 --> 02:09:30.260
There is no good angel and bad angel sitting on your shoulder.

02:09:30.260 --> 02:09:33.260
There is just who's in command.

02:09:36.260 --> 02:09:38.260
Why are you more forgiving now?

02:09:39.260 --> 02:09:45.260
Because your spirit with Christ living in it has become more like Christ and forgives.

02:09:46.260 --> 02:09:50.260
Why are you sometimes still pretty nasty when you are treated badly?

02:09:52.260 --> 02:09:54.260
Because your soul reacts.

02:09:54.260 --> 02:09:56.260
Because your soul reacts.

02:09:57.260 --> 02:10:02.260
I remember a man coming to me after I spoke on Good Friday in another church

02:10:02.260 --> 02:10:06.260
and coming and telling me that that was the worst message he had ever heard,

02:10:06.260 --> 02:10:08.260
that he wished he had not come to church.

02:10:10.260 --> 02:10:14.260
And I had just two months left in that church because I had already told him I was leaving

02:10:14.260 --> 02:10:16.260
and I was going to start Acts 29.

02:10:16.260 --> 02:10:20.260
And I thought, this man has tormented me for seven years.

02:10:20.260 --> 02:10:22.260
You've got only two months left.

02:10:22.260 --> 02:10:23.260
Rip him.

02:10:25.260 --> 02:10:29.260
So he's telling me what a lousy speaker I am that he regretted coming to church,

02:10:29.260 --> 02:10:32.260
that he should have not come.

02:10:33.260 --> 02:10:37.260
And I'm thinking to myself, tell him what a pain he's been and all this stuff.

02:10:37.260 --> 02:10:40.260
And I can hear the same thing happening.

02:10:41.260 --> 02:10:42.260
Tell him what a pain he's been.

02:10:43.260 --> 02:10:46.260
Finally take your revenge. Seven years he's tormented you.

02:10:46.260 --> 02:10:49.260
And then Christ in me saying, who do you want to be?

02:10:50.260 --> 02:10:51.260
Who do you want to be?

02:10:51.260 --> 02:10:53.260
He didn't even tell me what I should say.

02:10:53.260 --> 02:10:56.260
All I could hear in my head is, who do you want to be?

02:10:57.260 --> 02:11:04.260
I remember grabbing his face with both my hands, taking his name and saying, I love you.

02:11:04.260 --> 02:11:06.260
I thank you for what you said.

02:11:06.260 --> 02:11:10.260
I'll go and check what I've spoken and I'll do whatever it takes to improve.

02:11:10.260 --> 02:11:11.260
I love you.

02:11:11.260 --> 02:11:12.260
God bless you.

02:11:12.260 --> 02:11:13.260
Have a really good evening.

02:11:13.260 --> 02:11:14.260
I love you.

02:11:14.260 --> 02:11:15.260
God bless you.

02:11:15.260 --> 02:11:16.260
Have a really good Easter.

02:11:17.260 --> 02:11:20.260
And he says, go bless somebody else.

02:11:20.260 --> 02:11:21.260
And he walks off in a huff.

02:11:22.260 --> 02:11:26.260
It was literally like that scripture that says, when you bless somebody, you put coals on his head.

02:11:27.260 --> 02:11:31.260
That evening he calls me and he calls me and he says, he's crying.

02:11:31.260 --> 02:11:34.260
He's a man at least 30 years older than me.

02:11:35.260 --> 02:11:39.260
He's crying and he's saying, I am so sorry for the way I've treated you.

02:11:39.260 --> 02:11:42.260
And he's going back the years, I'm so sorry for the way I've treated you.

02:11:43.260 --> 02:11:44.260
I have not treated you well.

02:11:44.260 --> 02:11:46.260
I'm sorry for what I came and said to you today.

02:11:46.260 --> 02:11:47.260
Will you please forgive me?

02:11:50.260 --> 02:12:03.260
Whoever rules, if your new spirit with the Spirit of Christ inside you rules, you behave like Christ.

02:12:04.260 --> 02:12:10.260
If the soul rules, you behave like an ordinary man who's still struggling.

02:12:10.260 --> 02:12:17.260
One day when you die and you enter heaven, you enter the presence of God, instantly, just instantly, your spirit is new.

02:12:17.260 --> 02:12:19.260
No need, no change there.

02:12:19.260 --> 02:12:23.260
Instantly you get a new body and instantly your soul is made perfect.

02:12:25.260 --> 02:12:26.260
Eden is restored.

02:12:28.260 --> 02:12:29.260
Any questions? I'm done.

02:12:35.260 --> 02:12:36.260
Any questions?

02:12:36.260 --> 02:12:39.260
Every time I see this, trust me guys, I must have taught this to you.

02:12:40.260 --> 02:12:41.260
I've taught this a hundred times.

02:12:43.260 --> 02:12:49.260
I revel at this because it is crazy what we have been invited into.

02:12:50.260 --> 02:12:58.260
If you could just think what qualifies you to know this?

02:12:58.260 --> 02:13:00.260
What qualifies me to know this?

02:13:02.260 --> 02:13:08.260
What is so special about us that we know the inner workings of the mind of God and what he has done?

02:13:11.260 --> 02:13:15.260
Can we take this truth and tomorrow start living like this?

02:13:17.260 --> 02:13:22.260
How perfect are you? As perfect as Christ himself.

02:13:27.260 --> 02:13:29.260
Do you need to sin tomorrow?

02:13:29.260 --> 02:13:37.260
No, there is nothing inside me that has a proclivity or a desire to sin.

02:13:37.260 --> 02:13:39.260
I am not like that.

02:13:39.260 --> 02:13:40.260
You saw that with Pawan.

02:13:40.260 --> 02:13:41.260
I've escaped that.

02:13:44.260 --> 02:13:46.260
Do I have Christ living in me?

02:13:46.260 --> 02:13:47.260
24-7.

02:13:47.260 --> 02:13:50.260
Can anyone else live there besides Christ?

02:13:50.260 --> 02:13:51.260
No.

02:13:51.260 --> 02:13:53.260
I cannot be possessed.

02:13:53.260 --> 02:13:57.260
I cannot be overtaken by any devil ever again.

02:13:57.260 --> 02:13:58.260
I can be oppressed.

02:13:58.260 --> 02:14:02.260
I can have a ball and chain effect on my leg.

02:14:02.260 --> 02:14:04.260
But I cannot be possessed.

02:14:04.260 --> 02:14:06.260
The world can be possessed by demons.

02:14:06.260 --> 02:14:08.260
I cannot be possessed by demons.

02:14:08.260 --> 02:14:11.260
Because in my spirit dwells Christ.

02:14:12.260 --> 02:14:18.260
When I go to sleep, Christ in me, Christ above me, Christ around me, Christ within me.

02:14:20.260 --> 02:14:22.260
Am I forgiven?

02:14:22.260 --> 02:14:23.260
Always.

02:14:24.260 --> 02:14:25.260
Always.

02:14:29.260 --> 02:14:30.260
Always.

02:14:32.260 --> 02:14:33.260
Why? Because I'm perfect.

02:14:33.260 --> 02:14:36.260
I'm the target of his reckless love.

02:14:38.260 --> 02:14:41.260
And the focus of his laughter-filled favour.

02:14:44.260 --> 02:14:46.260
I'm the target of his reckless love.

02:14:46.260 --> 02:14:47.260
24-7.

02:14:47.260 --> 02:14:48.260
We don't believe those guys.

02:14:51.260 --> 02:14:53.260
And the focus of his laughter-filled favour.

02:15:03.260 --> 02:15:04.260
Any questions?

02:15:04.260 --> 02:15:06.260
This normally takes six hours.

02:15:06.260 --> 02:15:08.260
You can applaud after I'm done and say, well done Jacob.

02:15:08.260 --> 02:15:10.260
You finished it in two and a half.

02:15:10.260 --> 02:15:11.260
Yeah.

02:15:13.260 --> 02:15:14.260
Any questions?

02:15:17.260 --> 02:15:18.260
Yep.

02:15:19.260 --> 02:15:20.260
Yep.

02:15:38.260 --> 02:15:39.260
Yeah.

02:15:39.260 --> 02:15:40.260
Yeah.

02:15:40.260 --> 02:15:47.260
So if I'm right, your question is, on one hand, can you rephrase the question in a simple question form?

02:15:48.260 --> 02:15:50.260
Simple question form.

02:15:53.260 --> 02:15:55.260
Yeah, when you're just talking to the Father.

02:15:55.260 --> 02:15:57.260
When you're just talking to the Father.

02:15:57.260 --> 02:15:59.260
And you're just here to see your sins.

02:15:59.260 --> 02:16:01.260
Let's say your sins, right?

02:16:02.260 --> 02:16:04.260
And there was a way you were talking about it, right?

02:16:04.260 --> 02:16:05.260
From so many books.

02:16:05.260 --> 02:16:06.260
Yeah.

02:16:06.260 --> 02:16:07.260
Which was made to work.

02:16:07.260 --> 02:16:08.260
Yeah.

02:16:08.260 --> 02:16:11.260
But then where is the balance of that and me and understanding it?

02:16:11.260 --> 02:16:13.260
Where I'm making all the things that are wrong?

02:16:13.260 --> 02:16:14.260
Yeah.

02:16:14.260 --> 02:16:15.260
Different scenarios.

02:16:16.260 --> 02:16:28.260
If Don really hurts her, then Don can just apologize and hope things get better tomorrow.

02:16:29.260 --> 02:16:35.260
Or Don can really, if he loves her, grieve in his heart for the hurt he's caused her.

02:16:35.260 --> 02:16:38.260
As one begins to like God.

02:16:39.260 --> 02:16:55.260
The fact that I have violated a relationship and that I have grieved him begins to bother me so much that I'm less concerned about the sin, but more concerned about fixing things between me and him.

02:16:56.260 --> 02:17:01.260
When a Christian begins to walk there, sin becomes difficult.

02:17:02.260 --> 02:17:07.260
But as long as forgiveness is about getting your slate clean.

02:17:08.260 --> 02:17:13.260
We are just like any other religion where you want your sins removed from against you.

02:17:13.260 --> 02:17:16.260
The crazy thing is those sins have already been removed.

02:17:16.260 --> 02:17:22.260
The Bible says in Colossians that the list of handwritten rules against you has been removed.

02:17:23.260 --> 02:17:35.260
My thing now is do I care enough for her where just the fact that what I have done has caused her harm is so difficult for me to bear.

02:17:35.260 --> 02:17:39.260
That I will do everything in my power to take that hurt away.

02:17:39.260 --> 02:17:44.260
And that will include admitting to her that I wronged you.

02:17:44.260 --> 02:17:53.260
And after I see that she's okay, only then will I go buy her chocolates, jewelry and sing her a song with my guitar.

02:17:55.260 --> 02:18:02.260
And then the other thing I'll do if I'm genuine about it is I'll try hard not to do it again.

02:18:02.260 --> 02:18:06.260
I may mess up again, but I will do everything in my power not to mess up again.

02:18:07.260 --> 02:18:11.260
This relationship is entirely about one liking another.

02:18:13.260 --> 02:18:22.260
I've made it almost a principle in my life that I will not do anything holy, anything Christian, except because I like him.

02:18:22.260 --> 02:18:26.260
Because any other reason for doing anything for God is religious.

02:18:28.260 --> 02:18:32.260
Religion banishes two things, love, joy.

02:18:33.260 --> 02:18:39.260
What is religion? Something that banishes two things, love, joy.

02:18:39.260 --> 02:18:45.260
And I refuse to do anything that isn't coming from a place of I will do this because I like you.

02:18:45.260 --> 02:18:51.260
And I refuse to do anything that isn't coming from a place of I will do this because I like you.

02:18:55.260 --> 02:19:01.260
When I get, and when you get to a place where that is how you live, sin will become difficult.

02:19:01.260 --> 02:19:06.260
Why? Because the grief of sin causes you more pain than the person.

02:19:06.260 --> 02:19:09.260
Because you want to do everything to take the pain away.

02:19:09.260 --> 02:19:13.260
Until we get there, it is only a question of I have done wrong.

02:19:13.260 --> 02:19:16.260
Oh God, please remove the sin because I'm going for an exam.

02:19:16.260 --> 02:19:19.260
If the sin is there, I might do the exam wrong, bad.

02:19:19.260 --> 02:19:21.260
Oh God, please forgive me and cleanse me.

02:19:21.260 --> 02:19:23.260
I'm going for a job interview.

02:19:23.260 --> 02:19:30.260
Oh God, please cleanse me and forgive me because I have just bought a lottery ticket, which is to begin with wrong.

02:19:30.260 --> 02:19:35.260
So the point being we want a clean slate.

02:19:35.260 --> 02:19:40.260
And God is saying I'm not interested in a clean slate, I'm interested in a relationship.

02:19:40.260 --> 02:19:46.260
So when I sin, one of the first things I go and say to God is,

02:19:46.260 --> 02:19:51.260
Father, I can ask you to forgive me for this sin.

02:19:51.260 --> 02:19:53.260
I really want to.

02:19:53.260 --> 02:19:59.260
Or more than anything else, could you once again remind me of how much you love me so that my heart can start running after you?

02:19:59.260 --> 02:20:03.260
Because right now, when I'm in a relationship, I'm not interested in a clean slate.

02:20:03.260 --> 02:20:04.260
I want to love you.

02:20:04.260 --> 02:20:07.260
And the moment he does something like that, you know what happens to me?

02:20:07.260 --> 02:20:12.260
I start feeling so bad about the sin because now I have grieved and violated him.

02:20:12.260 --> 02:20:17.260
This is what I shared with you about in church some Sundays ago.

02:20:17.260 --> 02:20:18.260
I had done something wrong.

02:20:18.260 --> 02:20:19.260
I had done it deliberately.

02:20:19.260 --> 02:20:21.260
I was feeling terrible.

02:20:21.260 --> 02:20:23.260
I'm sitting in some kind of a mess.

02:20:23.260 --> 02:20:25.260
I'm sitting in some kind of a mess.

02:20:25.260 --> 02:20:27.260
I'm sitting in some kind of a mess.

02:20:27.260 --> 02:20:29.260
I'm sitting in some kind of a mess.

02:20:29.260 --> 02:20:30.260
I had done something wrong.

02:20:30.260 --> 02:20:31.260
I had done it deliberately.

02:20:31.260 --> 02:20:32.260
I was feeling terrible.

02:20:32.260 --> 02:20:42.260
I'm sitting in Central Park writing to God on my phone saying, I'm really sorry, but I want you to know that I did it deliberately.

02:20:42.260 --> 02:20:46.260
I don't even know how to say sorry when you do things deliberately.

02:20:46.260 --> 02:20:49.260
And so can you just make me new again?

02:20:49.260 --> 02:20:50.260
Can you just help me?

02:20:50.260 --> 02:20:52.260
Can you show me how much you love me?

02:20:52.260 --> 02:20:57.260
And along comes this guy with a little green bag on which there's just one word, which in Hindi means new.

02:20:57.260 --> 02:20:58.260
It said, Naya.

02:20:58.260 --> 02:21:01.260
And he comes and sits next to me and puts a bag down there.

02:21:01.260 --> 02:21:05.260
And I look at it and I think to myself, how in the world do you pull all these off?

02:21:05.260 --> 02:21:10.260
I just told you to make me new and you bring a guy who sits next to me with a bag that says new.

02:21:10.260 --> 02:21:11.260
I start weeping.

02:21:11.260 --> 02:21:13.260
And now what am I weeping for?

02:21:13.260 --> 02:21:18.260
I'm weeping because I felt bad that I had grieved him with my sin.

02:21:22.260 --> 02:21:24.260
It's not normal for me to sin.

02:21:24.260 --> 02:21:26.260
Honestly, guys, this I tell you.

02:21:26.260 --> 02:21:31.260
I do not expect tomorrow to be a day when I'm struggling with sin.

02:21:31.260 --> 02:21:33.260
That much I've arrived at.

02:21:33.260 --> 02:21:39.260
My problem is when I sin, why is it that I still feel condemned and guilty?

02:21:39.260 --> 02:21:46.260
Why is it that I can't walk as one that is forgiven, that now goes and needs to talk with God and say to God,

02:21:46.260 --> 02:21:48.260
I know I'm forgiven, but I messed up.

02:21:48.260 --> 02:21:50.260
Can you and I talk about this?

02:21:50.260 --> 02:21:52.260
No, I'm not saying God is female.

02:21:52.260 --> 02:21:53.260
There was nothing there.

02:21:53.260 --> 02:21:55.260
I just walked there because Hamari was sitting there.

02:21:55.260 --> 02:21:56.260
Yeah.

02:21:56.260 --> 02:21:59.260
You have to be so careful nowadays.

02:21:59.260 --> 02:22:03.260
Does that?

02:22:03.260 --> 02:22:06.260
Yeah.

02:22:06.260 --> 02:22:07.260
He first loved me.

02:22:07.260 --> 02:22:08.260
He first loved me.

02:22:08.260 --> 02:22:10.260
He first loved me.

02:22:10.260 --> 02:22:12.260
He first loved me.

02:22:12.260 --> 02:22:14.260
He first loved me.

02:22:14.260 --> 02:22:16.260
He first loved me.

02:22:16.260 --> 02:22:18.260
He first loved me.

02:22:20.260 --> 02:22:22.260
But Jacob, I don't know how to do this.

02:22:22.260 --> 02:22:24.260
Start somewhere.

02:22:24.260 --> 02:22:28.260
My sister asked me today morning, how is it that you are like this in a certain area?

02:22:28.260 --> 02:22:32.260
I said I've been practicing it for 25 years.

02:22:32.260 --> 02:22:35.260
You practice something for 25 years?

02:22:35.260 --> 02:22:37.260
It'll become natural.

02:22:37.260 --> 02:22:41.260
We've got to practice it for the next 25 years.

02:22:41.260 --> 02:22:44.260
For Dilna's 75th birthday, we should all be perfect.

02:22:44.260 --> 02:22:45.260
Yeah.

02:22:45.260 --> 02:22:48.260
It's the best gift we can give Dilna.

02:22:48.260 --> 02:22:50.260
Wouldn't you like that gift?

02:22:50.260 --> 02:22:57.260
See, I knew that.

02:22:57.260 --> 02:22:59.260
All good?

02:22:59.260 --> 02:23:03.260
Any other questions?

02:23:03.260 --> 02:23:06.260
Anyone regretted coming today?

02:23:06.260 --> 02:23:08.260
Okay.

02:23:08.260 --> 02:23:10.260
John, would you stand?

02:23:10.260 --> 02:23:14.260
Happy birthday to you.

02:23:14.260 --> 02:23:17.260
Happy birthday to you.

02:23:17.260 --> 02:23:25.260
Vignesh, could you stand too?

02:23:25.260 --> 02:23:27.260
Vignesh's birthday is tomorrow?

02:23:27.260 --> 02:23:29.260
And Don's is also tomorrow, right?

02:23:29.260 --> 02:23:31.260
Don, sit.

02:23:31.260 --> 02:23:34.260
No, no, both of you stand.

02:23:34.260 --> 02:23:36.260
Is it Emily's tomorrow?

02:23:36.260 --> 02:23:38.260
Okay.

02:23:38.260 --> 02:23:42.260
Okay, let's just sing.

02:23:42.260 --> 02:23:47.260
You got saltless popcorn or anything?

02:23:47.260 --> 02:23:54.260
You don't look for saltless popcorn yet, huh?

02:23:54.260 --> 02:23:55.260
Come, Pawan, let's sing.

02:23:55.260 --> 02:24:00.260
Since you were Jesus, since you were all this, you can come and sing with me.

02:24:00.260 --> 02:24:04.260
Do you have a mic?

02:24:04.260 --> 02:24:07.260
Oh my God, you've got to be careful.

02:24:07.260 --> 02:24:08.260
Okay.

02:24:08.260 --> 02:24:10.260
One, two, three, four.

02:24:10.260 --> 02:24:12.260
Happy birthday to you.

02:24:12.260 --> 02:24:14.260
You count till four?

02:24:14.260 --> 02:24:15.260
Yeah.

02:24:15.260 --> 02:24:16.260
Okay.

02:24:16.260 --> 02:24:17.260
Okay, one more time.

02:24:17.260 --> 02:24:18.260
One, two, three, four.

02:24:18.260 --> 02:24:21.260
Happy birthday to you.

02:24:21.260 --> 02:24:25.260
Happy birthday to you.

02:24:25.260 --> 02:24:30.260
Happy birthday, Don and Vignesh.

02:24:30.260 --> 02:24:36.260
Happy birthday to you.

02:24:36.260 --> 02:24:41.260
Thanks for coming, guys.

02:24:41.260 --> 02:24:46.260
I'll see you when I see you.
