00:00:00.000 --> 00:00:06.200
Continue on from where we left out yesterday. Is that is that fine? I'm just gonna give a quick

00:00:07.040 --> 00:00:11.400
overview of where we were yesterday and then we got deep into

00:00:12.440 --> 00:00:14.440
What we want to see today

00:00:14.760 --> 00:00:19.160
God is setting apart a people for himself for all eternity. Okay, that's the

00:00:19.960 --> 00:00:28.220
Overarching understanding of what God has been doing all through ages right from the beginning even before the beginning began

00:00:30.640 --> 00:00:32.640
God

00:00:32.760 --> 00:00:34.320
His plan

00:00:34.320 --> 00:00:37.880
Have you really look into the Old Testament New Testament the Old Covenant New Covenant?

00:00:38.440 --> 00:00:43.280
The whole gamut of things from Genesis chapter 1 down to Revelation chapter 22

00:00:43.720 --> 00:00:46.540
You see that God is doing just this one thing

00:00:47.520 --> 00:00:54.600
He's setting apart a people for himself for all eternity so that his people will be his people

00:00:55.840 --> 00:00:57.840
That he will be their God

00:00:58.040 --> 00:01:02.360
That we will be his people and that he will come and dwell amongst us

00:01:03.400 --> 00:01:05.400
that that relationship

00:01:05.800 --> 00:01:08.280
That intimate that is what he longs for

00:01:09.400 --> 00:01:14.580
And that is why he inaugurated what he inaugurated because he knew at the end of it is all going to be worth

00:01:14.720 --> 00:01:20.660
It doesn't matter whether there was sin that corrupted the human race or people would turn astray

00:01:21.120 --> 00:01:27.200
Right in the beginning he would provide for for the lamb was slain even before the foundations of the earth

00:01:28.120 --> 00:01:34.040
And that lamb that was slain before the foundations of the earth became a reality on Jesus Christ on the cross of Calvary

00:01:34.040 --> 00:01:38.520
And he died he rose again, and he continuously inaugurated and say hey

00:01:38.520 --> 00:01:42.240
I am setting apart a people from myself for all eternity

00:01:42.400 --> 00:01:49.440
And it does not belong to one ethnos or one kind of people is all kinds of people all different races all

00:01:49.560 --> 00:01:56.560
different language groups because I have to split them out in language groups because they were turning out something else and

00:01:56.680 --> 00:02:02.680
Therefore I would be very specific in my purpose is of what I want to do across the entire world

00:02:02.800 --> 00:02:05.800
And he would continue to do just this one thing

00:02:06.280 --> 00:02:14.400
Set apart a people for himself for all eternity so that we will be his people that that intimate relationship with the community will continue on

00:02:15.000 --> 00:02:19.720
And that because we are as people that we would collaborate with him that we will

00:02:19.920 --> 00:02:27.200
Cooperate with him to set apart more people for himself for all eternity and that is what God has been doing in Acts 29

00:02:27.480 --> 00:02:34.920
God set apart a people for himself for all eternity in the greater Vancouver area and now God is setting apart more people for himself or

00:02:35.920 --> 00:02:41.600
himself for all eternity and that's what we have ended up with six of our groups and

00:02:42.640 --> 00:02:47.560
That's where the spirit is moving. That's what the spirit is doing in Acts 29

00:02:49.720 --> 00:02:51.720
So

00:02:56.440 --> 00:03:02.320
He's setting apart more people for himself for all eternity so that this group of people a community of disciples of Christ

00:03:12.000 --> 00:03:15.400
Will grow and become one family

00:03:16.360 --> 00:03:19.560
And that these families

00:03:25.600 --> 00:03:31.760
Will have no walls of division between them, but will be able to develop one mindedness

00:03:31.760 --> 00:03:33.760
I

00:03:44.680 --> 00:03:49.840
Will say one mindedness is about we are all about this one same spirit

00:03:52.440 --> 00:03:56.040
We have one God one father

00:03:58.680 --> 00:04:00.680
One Lord Jesus Christ

00:04:02.760 --> 00:04:07.760
Is the same spirit that moves amongst us or we have one faith

00:04:09.160 --> 00:04:11.240
Which is the one teaching?

00:04:13.680 --> 00:04:15.680
Apostles

00:04:16.800 --> 00:04:20.600
Delivered to the churches

00:04:27.640 --> 00:04:29.640
We have one baptism

00:04:32.360 --> 00:04:37.040
Because to that we have been inducted into this one family

00:04:40.760 --> 00:04:42.760
Which is that one body

00:04:45.280 --> 00:04:52.300
Although we meet together in small different communities because that's the way by which we would be able to know one another and

00:04:52.920 --> 00:04:57.080
Experience what is loving one another bearing patiently with one another?

00:04:58.080 --> 00:05:04.520
Being patient with one another being kind to one another being gentle to one another can be produced in a mass

00:05:05.680 --> 00:05:13.600
Therefore we we are actually small little communities of faith small little communities of disciples of Christ who are growing up to be this one

00:05:13.600 --> 00:05:20.240
Family built around this one father one Lord Jesus Christ one spirit and around this one faith

00:05:20.240 --> 00:05:24.840
Which is what is the teachings of Jesus delivered through the Apostles?

00:05:24.880 --> 00:05:31.880
By the spirit that needs to be saturating all of our families that we are not clashing with one another around

00:05:32.400 --> 00:05:37.880
philosophy because we have the same philosophy because what is the philosophy philosophy is something that you you actually

00:05:38.520 --> 00:05:46.000
govern your entire life around is a set of principles that govern your life is a set of principles that you process life through and

00:05:46.120 --> 00:05:50.880
Therefore this one teaching or that teaching of Jesus Christ

00:05:51.040 --> 00:05:56.680
Delivered by the spirit to the Apostles that the Apostles picked up and delivered to the churches must

00:05:56.920 --> 00:06:01.960
Saturate each and every one of us so that our lives will be processed the way we live our life

00:06:02.280 --> 00:06:04.720
Before our God before this watching world

00:06:06.200 --> 00:06:08.200
Will be the same

00:06:09.120 --> 00:06:13.480
Because we have this one philosophy which is coming from this one teaching

00:06:14.080 --> 00:06:19.520
That the Apostles delivered to the churches. So this is a picture of how Christ

00:06:20.360 --> 00:06:22.920
What is teaching his teachings actually?

00:06:23.600 --> 00:06:29.000
Are in sync with his nature and because we practice his teaching in our lives

00:06:29.280 --> 00:06:34.160
We actually reflect this nature and the problem is as a single person

00:06:34.160 --> 00:06:40.920
We are not able to reflect his nature to the fullest and that's why he is creating a body is creating a community and

00:06:41.120 --> 00:06:43.880
the communities together reflect this

00:06:44.840 --> 00:06:50.440
Manifold wisdom of God to this watching world and that's how Christ is revealed

00:06:50.840 --> 00:06:56.080
And because of this oneness the people around who are the watching world are able to see

00:06:56.520 --> 00:07:03.080
Jesus reflected through these communities and they want to actually inquire why there's joy

00:07:03.520 --> 00:07:06.040
That is there and why this love is

00:07:06.560 --> 00:07:12.280
Existent and that's the reason why they want to join these communities because they know that in the world

00:07:12.280 --> 00:07:18.240
There is trouble in the world. There is peace listeners in this world that this joy and love is

00:07:18.840 --> 00:07:21.840
Non-existent and that needs to be found in our communities

00:07:22.440 --> 00:07:25.240
that attracts the watching world

00:07:28.000 --> 00:07:34.240
And brings them back through Jesus to the same father and

00:07:35.240 --> 00:07:40.320
They're grounded in this teaching by being baptized and inducted into our families

00:07:41.280 --> 00:07:47.600
And this is what continues on and on and on and and this community is actually replenish

00:07:48.280 --> 00:07:53.280
Multiply and occupy this entire world. That's the plan right from beginning

00:07:56.280 --> 00:08:01.880
And in this process God has appointed the apostolic

00:08:11.320 --> 00:08:19.400
Who are these apostolic leadership they are a set of gifted leaders

00:08:20.880 --> 00:08:22.880
Appointed

00:08:23.160 --> 00:08:25.160
by Christ

00:08:25.760 --> 00:08:27.760
For his church

00:08:28.760 --> 00:08:30.760
To spearhead

00:08:34.560 --> 00:08:36.560
The progression of the gospel

00:08:36.600 --> 00:08:38.600
The progression of the gospel

00:08:43.920 --> 00:08:45.920
So they can evangelize

00:08:47.800 --> 00:08:49.800
Strategic cities

00:08:52.720 --> 00:08:56.080
Establish local churches and

00:08:59.760 --> 00:09:01.760
Entrusted to the leaders

00:09:02.760 --> 00:09:08.680
So that the leaders can continue on the work within this or web out

00:09:09.720 --> 00:09:13.400
This progression through the multiplication of other churches

00:09:14.240 --> 00:09:19.840
Or other communities and that that's why God has given a set of leaders within the body

00:09:21.160 --> 00:09:25.240
Not that they are any special than others who are in the body

00:09:25.520 --> 00:09:29.440
but they are being gifted with this tough task of

00:09:30.440 --> 00:09:32.960
Penetrating places that are

00:09:34.000 --> 00:09:35.440
impregnable and

00:09:35.440 --> 00:09:37.720
they progress the gospel and

00:09:38.600 --> 00:09:43.120
shatter through the the forces of darkness in order to actually

00:09:44.000 --> 00:09:46.920
Evangelize and bring a set of people fresh

00:09:48.280 --> 00:09:55.600
And they are established and there's an interesting that takes place and this is what we we talked about a little different from

00:09:56.200 --> 00:10:03.000
A little different vocabularies than what we used yesterday, but this is the picture of where we stopped yesterday

00:10:07.720 --> 00:10:09.720
Any questions

00:10:26.320 --> 00:10:28.320
I

00:10:51.840 --> 00:10:53.840
Work is continued by the local

00:10:55.600 --> 00:11:00.080
webbed out and occupied and replenished the entire world.

00:11:13.080 --> 00:11:18.080
The oversight is still when they have the confidence

00:11:20.080 --> 00:11:25.080
that when they leave, ravaging will not come into their face.

00:11:26.080 --> 00:11:39.080
Even when Paul left Ephesus, the warning that he was giving the Ephesian elders in Acts 19, Acts 20 is this.

00:11:39.080 --> 00:11:44.080
He's saying, guys, I may not see you again. So they weep, break down, cry.

00:11:44.080 --> 00:11:48.080
But then he goes on to say, hey, I've not eaten of you.

00:11:48.080 --> 00:11:53.080
I've made sure that I worked for my own living and I've not been a burden to you.

00:11:53.560 --> 00:11:59.560
But now I want to warn you that when I leave, ravaging wolves will come from outside

00:11:59.560 --> 00:12:04.560
and people from within are going to come up and distort the teaching.

00:12:05.560 --> 00:12:10.560
The way by which we lose the essence of Christ is the dilution of teaching

00:12:10.560 --> 00:12:14.560
or another teaching that comes in and it destroys the churches.

00:12:14.560 --> 00:12:18.560
And therefore, elders are guardians.

00:12:18.560 --> 00:12:22.560
Elders are defenders of the teaching.

00:12:23.040 --> 00:12:27.040
Elders are the teachers of the teaching and the defenders of the teaching.

00:12:27.040 --> 00:12:33.040
And their responsibility is that and that while the teaching is saturated in the lives of people,

00:12:33.040 --> 00:12:39.040
that they begin to live out the teaching. They learn, they live, and they teach one another.

00:12:39.040 --> 00:12:43.040
So that Christ and his teachings get saturated in our lives,

00:12:43.040 --> 00:12:46.040
we begin to live out the teachings of Jesus.

00:12:46.040 --> 00:12:50.040
And that creates the beautiful picture of Jesus to the watching world.

00:12:50.520 --> 00:12:55.520
And that is the way by which people are added into the church because that's how

00:12:55.520 --> 00:13:02.520
we continue to collaborate with Christ in setting apart more people for himself for all eternity.

00:13:02.520 --> 00:13:07.520
And sometimes it can be added into the same community because we don't have enough space or not leaders

00:13:07.520 --> 00:13:12.520
that we actually have another locale or another house or another building.

00:13:12.520 --> 00:13:18.520
And it doesn't matter whether we meet under trees or meet in a building or meet in a house or underground.

00:13:19.000 --> 00:13:25.000
The same thing happens because it's not the place. It is about the people. It's about the community.

00:13:32.000 --> 00:13:36.000
Yes, a letter to the Ephesians is written after Paul left.

00:13:39.000 --> 00:13:42.000
The middle letters of Paul are called the prison letters.

00:13:42.000 --> 00:13:48.000
So whenever Paul was not able, so there are three ways by which Paul established the church.

00:13:48.480 --> 00:13:53.480
One, while he was with them, he taught them. That's the way he established.

00:13:53.480 --> 00:13:58.480
Secondly, when he was not able to be with them, he wrote letters to them,

00:13:58.480 --> 00:14:03.480
reminding them of what they taught them, what he taught them.

00:14:03.480 --> 00:14:10.480
Thirdly, how does he establish when there becomes a little excessive problems in certain places.

00:14:10.480 --> 00:14:13.480
He had to send his key men.

00:14:13.960 --> 00:14:19.960
That's why after some time, Jacob can't just be a lonely man because he can't handle.

00:14:19.960 --> 00:14:24.960
Till Vancouver, Greater Vancouver and six house churches are there, Jacob can't handle it.

00:14:24.960 --> 00:14:30.960
But the moment it becomes New York, the moment it becomes certain parts of Southeast Asia,

00:14:30.960 --> 00:14:35.960
where there are planting of churches and appointing of elders, there needs to be team members.

00:14:35.960 --> 00:14:39.960
God bless certain team members are rising up, certain team members are rising up.

00:14:40.440 --> 00:14:44.440
But then we got to leave Timothy in Ephesus because after some time.

00:14:44.440 --> 00:14:50.440
So one of the churches that have enough material to process is the church in Ephesus.

00:14:50.440 --> 00:14:56.440
Because you have Acts 19 and 20 that talks about the inauguration of it and the commissioning of the elders.

00:14:56.440 --> 00:15:02.440
Then you go to the book of Ephesians where you have an idea of what is happening in our own Ephesus.

00:15:02.440 --> 00:15:07.440
And then he writes first Timothy because now Timothy is in Ephesus.

00:15:07.920 --> 00:15:11.920
And then you have Revelation chapter two, an assessment of the church in Ephesus.

00:15:11.920 --> 00:15:18.920
And therefore you have enough materials of how a church through two to three generations has existed.

00:15:20.920 --> 00:15:28.920
And so the New Testament has enough materials for us to have a full grasp of what Christ was doing with the churches.

00:15:28.920 --> 00:15:32.920
Now we can't say we don't know what to do.

00:15:37.920 --> 00:15:46.920
Can we go on? Everybody? Is it okay? Let's go on.

00:15:46.920 --> 00:15:56.920
And so this entire process to the leaders yesterday, I had to summarize it as two important things.

00:15:57.400 --> 00:16:13.400
The centrality of the church and the priority of the apostolic leadership.

00:16:17.400 --> 00:16:23.400
Why priority? Not because they are special, but because they need to move.

00:16:23.880 --> 00:16:29.880
They need to enter into new territories. They need to penetrate and progress the gospel.

00:16:29.880 --> 00:16:33.880
And that's why if they don't move, the church becomes stagnant.

00:16:33.880 --> 00:16:37.880
That's the group of people that continues on to the second part.

00:16:37.880 --> 00:16:41.880
The first part is God is setting up a people for himself.

00:16:41.880 --> 00:16:48.880
Now all that the elders are actually doing in a particular place is to make sure that we are a people of God.

00:16:48.880 --> 00:16:50.880
That's more internal.

00:16:51.360 --> 00:16:56.360
And then there is a set of leaders that rise up from within the church that actually go into new territories.

00:16:56.360 --> 00:16:58.360
And that's the apostolic leadership.

00:16:58.360 --> 00:17:03.360
And that's why if the church needs to continue to do the reason why the church is inaugurated,

00:17:03.360 --> 00:17:10.360
we got to prioritize the apostolic leadership as the ones who are spearheading,

00:17:10.360 --> 00:17:14.360
the ones who are penetrating, the ones who are progressing the gospel.

00:17:14.840 --> 00:17:21.840
That's why we are summarizing this as the centrality of the church and the priority of the apostolic leadership.

00:17:21.840 --> 00:17:33.840
And so I'm going to be talking today more from a perspective of Act 29 being a network of six house churches

00:17:33.840 --> 00:17:41.840
that has an apostolic leadership in and through Jacob and a team that he is slowly but surely developing around himself.

00:17:42.320 --> 00:17:45.320
That has a worldwide mission.

00:17:45.320 --> 00:17:51.320
And therefore the church that is part and parcel of the Greater Vancouver Rites here

00:17:51.320 --> 00:18:00.320
has a lot more responsibility than to take care of yourself because there is an apostolic team that resides at the Antioch right here.

00:18:00.800 --> 00:18:05.800
So if you want to go back to the biblical basis for an Antioch church,

00:18:05.800 --> 00:18:14.800
if you go to Acts chapter 12, verse 25 or 26, can someone read this with me?

00:18:14.800 --> 00:18:25.800
And then let's go to Acts chapter 13, verses 1 down to 4, then let's read Acts chapter 14, 23 to 28.

00:18:26.280 --> 00:18:29.280
Can we have the readings together so that...

00:18:29.280 --> 00:18:34.280
Can we all read it together? Is there a way to project these verses directly?

00:18:37.280 --> 00:18:40.280
24 and 25? Okay.

00:18:40.280 --> 00:18:43.280
I think 26. 26. What does 26 say?

00:18:43.280 --> 00:18:47.280
Okay. Read 25.

00:18:48.280 --> 00:18:51.280
Oh, that's not 26.

00:18:51.760 --> 00:18:56.760
I think so. Yeah.

00:19:00.760 --> 00:19:05.760
25? That's 25? Okay. 24. Okay.

00:19:06.240 --> 00:19:10.160
So the word of God continued to spread in

00:19:10.160 --> 00:19:17.160
verse 25. And Barnabas and Saul at the end of the chapter, they returned from the Antioch.

00:19:17.160 --> 00:19:20.160
Then read 11, 26?

00:19:23.160 --> 00:19:26.160
Then Barnabas went to Tarsus to look for Saul.

00:19:26.160 --> 00:19:31.160
Yeah. Yeah. Okay. So Barnabas went to Tarsus to look for Saul.

00:19:31.160 --> 00:19:33.160
And then he found him.

00:19:33.160 --> 00:19:35.160
And many found him.

00:19:35.560 --> 00:19:37.560
He brought him to Antioch.

00:19:38.560 --> 00:19:40.560
So for a whole year...

00:19:41.560 --> 00:19:44.560
Okay. Barnabas and Saul met with the church.

00:19:45.560 --> 00:19:48.560
And taught great numbers of people.

00:19:48.560 --> 00:19:52.560
Okay. So this is what they did for an entire year.

00:19:53.560 --> 00:19:58.560
Barnabas came into Antioch. He found that there is such a move of the spirit,

00:19:58.560 --> 00:20:01.560
but there's nobody to really establish the church in the right way.

00:20:01.960 --> 00:20:06.960
And therefore Barnabas goes and picks up Saul from Tarsus, comes into Antioch,

00:20:06.960 --> 00:20:09.960
and they invest into the church for a whole year.

00:20:09.960 --> 00:20:12.960
And you need to understand that the New Testament understanding of the

00:20:12.960 --> 00:20:15.960
early church of investment is every day.

00:20:17.960 --> 00:20:19.960
They kept meeting again and again.

00:20:19.960 --> 00:20:24.960
If you really see Paul talking to the Ephesian church for three years, night and day.

00:20:25.960 --> 00:20:27.960
Three years, night and day.

00:20:28.360 --> 00:20:31.360
Those guys didn't work beyond certain times, I think.

00:20:31.360 --> 00:20:34.360
They all came together, they met together, they established...

00:20:34.360 --> 00:20:39.360
They felt the urgency of the work so much that they spent so much of time

00:20:39.360 --> 00:20:41.360
establishing themselves in the teaching.

00:20:41.360 --> 00:20:47.360
Out of what has been established as a year-long process within the Antioch church,

00:20:47.360 --> 00:20:50.360
you see Acts 13, verse 1 to 4,

00:20:50.360 --> 00:20:56.360
that God actually picks and raises up prophets and teachers from amongst them.

00:20:58.360 --> 00:21:02.360
And unless we really get established in the teaching,

00:21:02.360 --> 00:21:07.360
the full gamut of the teaching for a period and a sustained period of time,

00:21:07.360 --> 00:21:12.360
there is no raising up of the kind of leadership that is needed for the church.

00:21:13.360 --> 00:21:17.360
And so we've got to give up on the sporadic every now and then teaching

00:21:17.360 --> 00:21:20.360
into a sustained, continuous...

00:21:20.360 --> 00:21:24.360
So in 2010, when God spoke to our hearts, we started to...

00:21:24.360 --> 00:21:27.360
So every Friday, it was once in a week,

00:21:27.760 --> 00:21:29.760
but I had to do five groups every Friday,

00:21:29.760 --> 00:21:32.760
cut down everything that I needed to cut down.

00:21:32.760 --> 00:21:35.760
Friday evening was one group, Saturday morning was one group,

00:21:35.760 --> 00:21:39.760
Saturday afternoon was one group, Saturday evening was one group,

00:21:39.760 --> 00:21:42.760
Sunday evening, these are five groups of people

00:21:42.760 --> 00:21:46.760
that I taught for three years continuously every weekend.

00:21:46.760 --> 00:21:48.760
It doesn't matter whether I was sick,

00:21:48.760 --> 00:21:51.760
there are days that I had to go through a surgery,

00:21:51.760 --> 00:21:52.760
that I was...

00:21:52.760 --> 00:21:56.760
You saw a picture of me introduced on the sofa?

00:21:57.760 --> 00:22:01.760
That was the position from the groups of people,

00:22:01.760 --> 00:22:06.760
Friday, Saturday morning, Saturday afternoon, Saturday night, Sunday evening.

00:22:06.760 --> 00:22:09.760
I'm just trying to salvage what you damaged.

00:22:21.760 --> 00:22:22.760
And that's the...

00:22:22.760 --> 00:22:25.760
Literally, I was not able to sit,

00:22:26.160 --> 00:22:30.160
I would not give up on sustaining and establishing the church.

00:22:30.160 --> 00:22:35.160
Then out of that group came Benedict, Manova,

00:22:35.160 --> 00:22:39.160
out of that group came Jerry, Annette,

00:22:39.160 --> 00:22:41.160
out of that group came Suman,

00:22:41.160 --> 00:22:45.160
out of that group came all of the leadership at this point in time

00:22:45.160 --> 00:22:48.160
that are actually spreading across the nation.

00:22:49.160 --> 00:22:51.160
Sustained teaching,

00:22:51.160 --> 00:22:54.160
the product and the end product of that outcome

00:22:54.560 --> 00:22:57.560
would be raising up of quality leaders.

00:22:58.560 --> 00:23:01.560
We got to do that within the church.

00:23:08.560 --> 00:23:11.560
And so what happens is prophets and teachers are rising up,

00:23:11.560 --> 00:23:14.560
who are able to take care of the local Antioch church,

00:23:14.560 --> 00:23:17.560
then the spirit is able to set apart

00:23:18.560 --> 00:23:21.560
Paul and Barnabas

00:23:21.960 --> 00:23:24.960
for the work of the mission.

00:23:27.960 --> 00:23:31.960
And they set off because the spirit wants the church to set them off.

00:23:31.960 --> 00:23:35.960
And the elders of the church actually commissioned

00:23:35.960 --> 00:23:36.960
and said, Paul and Barnabas,

00:23:36.960 --> 00:23:38.960
you don't have to sustain us

00:23:38.960 --> 00:23:42.960
because we will be able to take care of this extremely well.

00:23:42.960 --> 00:23:45.960
You go on what God has called you to do,

00:23:45.960 --> 00:23:48.960
which is the penetration and the progression of the gospel

00:23:48.960 --> 00:23:49.960
into new places.

00:23:50.360 --> 00:23:53.360
And therefore, if you go down to Acts 14, 23 to 28,

00:23:53.360 --> 00:23:54.360
they have traveled all those places,

00:23:54.360 --> 00:24:01.360
but there are three places called Iconium, Lystra and Derby or Derb.

00:24:02.360 --> 00:24:06.360
And these are like close cities, one to another.

00:24:06.360 --> 00:24:09.360
And they sit down and establish this group of people

00:24:09.360 --> 00:24:11.360
and appoint them as elders.

00:24:11.360 --> 00:24:13.360
But then after they finished the work,

00:24:13.360 --> 00:24:16.360
Acts 14, 28 says they came back to Antioch.

00:24:16.760 --> 00:24:19.760
And they told them all the great exploits

00:24:19.760 --> 00:24:21.760
that God has done in and through them.

00:24:21.760 --> 00:24:22.760
And they rest there.

00:24:22.760 --> 00:24:23.760
And they continue on.

00:24:23.760 --> 00:24:27.760
So Jacob can go, come back, refresh and help the Antioch church.

00:24:27.760 --> 00:24:30.760
But his mission may not be Greater Vancouver

00:24:30.760 --> 00:24:32.760
because Greater Vancouver has been handed over

00:24:32.760 --> 00:24:35.760
to a set of elders who will guard.

00:24:35.760 --> 00:24:37.760
A set of prophets and teachers,

00:24:37.760 --> 00:24:40.760
a set of elders who will be able to guard the teaching

00:24:40.760 --> 00:24:45.760
and continue on to replenish the six down to ten and twelve

00:24:45.760 --> 00:24:48.760
and fourteen and fifteen because that's our job.

00:24:48.760 --> 00:24:50.760
That's not Jacob's job after that.

00:24:56.760 --> 00:24:59.760
And so when this is done,

00:24:59.760 --> 00:25:02.760
after some time Paul wants to go again

00:25:02.760 --> 00:25:04.760
and now you have a problem with Barnabas.

00:25:04.760 --> 00:25:06.760
And therefore you have a problem with Barnabas.

00:25:06.760 --> 00:25:08.760
Barnabas is so interested in his sister's son

00:25:08.760 --> 00:25:12.760
that he goes off with John Mark 2 Cyprus.

00:25:12.760 --> 00:25:14.760
And you see a flourishing church in Cyprus

00:25:14.760 --> 00:25:16.760
that continues to establish.

00:25:16.760 --> 00:25:19.760
But Paul is on this mission because his focus is straight.

00:25:19.760 --> 00:25:22.760
He goes on and he goes back to Iconiola to Derby

00:25:22.760 --> 00:25:24.760
where Timothy is picked up.

00:25:29.760 --> 00:25:33.760
As a young apprentice along with the apostolic team

00:25:33.760 --> 00:25:35.760
doing menial odd jobs

00:25:40.760 --> 00:25:42.760
over a period of time,

00:25:42.760 --> 00:25:47.760
at least the timeline is if it is 18 years

00:25:47.760 --> 00:25:49.760
that Timothy was picked up.

00:25:49.760 --> 00:25:55.760
It was 30 years by the time he was given this commission

00:25:55.760 --> 00:25:57.760
in 2 Timothy 2.2.

00:25:58.760 --> 00:26:00.760
What you have heard.

00:26:00.760 --> 00:26:02.760
And so it's a long haul process.

00:26:02.760 --> 00:26:05.760
It's not just, hey come on, you have come into the team

00:26:05.760 --> 00:26:07.760
and therefore you're an apprentice and tomorrow

00:26:07.760 --> 00:26:09.760
you will be an apostolic leader.

00:26:09.760 --> 00:26:11.760
No, you are a young apprentice

00:26:11.760 --> 00:26:13.760
within an apostolic team

00:26:13.760 --> 00:26:15.760
and it takes a period of time

00:26:15.760 --> 00:26:17.760
before things can be handed over to you.

00:26:17.760 --> 00:26:19.760
There may be a lot of jobs that

00:26:19.760 --> 00:26:22.760
we can leave you in Hanoi for a period of time

00:26:22.760 --> 00:26:24.760
to dismantle certain things or to take care

00:26:24.760 --> 00:26:27.760
or leave you in Indonesia, Jakarta for a period of time

00:26:27.760 --> 00:26:28.760
or leave you in New York

00:26:28.760 --> 00:26:31.760
so that you would have some time of rest.

00:26:32.760 --> 00:26:34.760
But it is a long haul.

00:26:34.760 --> 00:26:38.760
Apprentice to becoming a master craftsman

00:26:38.760 --> 00:26:41.760
is at least a long haul period.

00:26:41.760 --> 00:26:43.760
Not just one year, two years.

00:26:43.760 --> 00:26:47.760
It's going to be, with my experience of Theo, Ben,

00:26:47.760 --> 00:26:50.760
all these guys, it takes at least 10 years

00:26:50.760 --> 00:26:55.760
before they begin to become accepted by people

00:26:55.760 --> 00:26:57.760
in their giftedness.

00:27:01.760 --> 00:27:03.760
Therefore there is no quick fix in this.

00:27:05.760 --> 00:27:06.760
There is no easy solutions.

00:27:06.760 --> 00:27:10.760
There is no instant work that can be done.

00:27:10.760 --> 00:27:12.760
So the guys who are going to be committed

00:27:12.760 --> 00:27:15.760
for the apostolic team are apprentices

00:27:15.760 --> 00:27:18.760
that join in and over a long haul

00:27:18.760 --> 00:27:22.760
become master craftsmen to whom territories

00:27:22.760 --> 00:27:25.760
and teams are handed over to.

00:27:32.760 --> 00:27:34.760
This is the goodness.

00:27:36.760 --> 00:27:38.760
This is the goodness.

00:27:38.760 --> 00:27:40.760
That you don't have to perform now.

00:27:43.760 --> 00:27:46.760
You just have to sustain through.

00:27:48.760 --> 00:27:52.760
You got to see even the development of Paul himself.

00:27:52.760 --> 00:27:55.760
From the time he had the encounter

00:27:55.760 --> 00:27:58.760
to the time Barnabas picks up, close to 10 years.

00:28:07.760 --> 00:28:09.760
Any questions?

00:28:09.760 --> 00:28:10.760
Yes.

00:28:36.760 --> 00:28:39.760
So the apostolic, that's why we are...

00:29:06.760 --> 00:29:14.760
The quick clarification is that's the reason

00:29:14.760 --> 00:29:18.760
why we don't go apostolic,

00:29:18.760 --> 00:29:22.760
but we get an understanding apostolic

00:29:22.760 --> 00:29:24.760
in a sense like the sent out ones.

00:29:24.760 --> 00:29:26.760
The sent out ones.

00:29:26.760 --> 00:29:29.760
And apostolic doesn't mean apostle.

00:29:29.760 --> 00:29:32.760
Apostolic means the fivefold giftedness

00:29:32.760 --> 00:29:34.760
or whichever fold you want to call it.

00:29:34.760 --> 00:29:37.760
The fivefold manifold giftedness.

00:29:37.760 --> 00:29:40.760
This is a gifted team that functions.

00:29:40.760 --> 00:29:44.760
And they function to progress and penetrate the gospel,

00:29:44.760 --> 00:29:48.760
plant and establish churches, and raise up elders.

00:29:48.760 --> 00:29:52.760
They are equipers who actually equip the body

00:29:52.760 --> 00:29:54.760
and make sure that the unity and oneness

00:29:54.760 --> 00:29:56.760
is around the teaching.

00:29:56.760 --> 00:29:58.760
And they deliver the teaching.

00:29:58.760 --> 00:30:00.760
So they are...

00:30:00.760 --> 00:30:02.760
You've got to go back to the tape

00:30:02.760 --> 00:30:05.760
and download on what we...

00:30:05.760 --> 00:30:10.760
But this is not like how we have processed.

00:30:10.760 --> 00:30:12.760
You are an apostle, you are an evangelist.

00:30:12.760 --> 00:30:14.760
No. Is Paul an apostle? Yes.

00:30:14.760 --> 00:30:15.760
Is Paul a prophet? Yes.

00:30:15.760 --> 00:30:17.760
Is Paul an evangelist? Yes.

00:30:17.760 --> 00:30:18.760
Paul a pastor? Yes.

00:30:18.760 --> 00:30:20.760
Paul a teacher? Yes.

00:30:20.760 --> 00:30:23.760
Is Paul a father? Yes.

00:30:23.760 --> 00:30:26.760
And therefore it's a function that needs to be given

00:30:26.760 --> 00:30:30.760
within the body that we all provide.

00:30:30.760 --> 00:30:33.760
And some over a period of time, long haul,

00:30:33.760 --> 00:30:36.760
can actually mature into a particular giftedness

00:30:36.760 --> 00:30:39.760
in which they are sharpened by the spirit

00:30:39.760 --> 00:30:41.760
because there are others who are already functioning

00:30:41.760 --> 00:30:43.760
in other giftedness.

00:30:43.760 --> 00:30:45.760
That's for this is a team.

00:30:45.760 --> 00:30:49.760
It's a gifted leadership team that actually penetrates

00:30:49.760 --> 00:30:51.760
and progresses the gospel.

00:30:51.760 --> 00:30:54.760
That's how you need to start processing these things.

00:30:54.760 --> 00:30:58.760
Then what has happened is that the Pentecostal Charismatic

00:30:58.760 --> 00:31:02.760
Movement has made it title and individual gifts

00:31:02.760 --> 00:31:04.760
apart from the church and therefore the context

00:31:04.760 --> 00:31:07.760
of their function is lost.

00:31:07.760 --> 00:31:09.760
And therefore that is how it's skewed

00:31:09.760 --> 00:31:11.760
and we have a lot of confusion.

00:31:11.760 --> 00:31:14.760
If you go back to the context of the New Testament,

00:31:14.760 --> 00:31:17.760
it is actually in and through the churches.

00:31:17.760 --> 00:31:19.760
Apostolic teams come out of the church,

00:31:19.760 --> 00:31:20.760
commissioned by the church,

00:31:20.760 --> 00:31:23.760
they go to plant and multiply churches.

00:31:23.760 --> 00:31:25.760
And therefore they originate from churches

00:31:25.760 --> 00:31:26.760
and end up with churches.

00:31:26.760 --> 00:31:28.760
They originate from churches and end up in churches.

00:31:28.760 --> 00:31:31.760
Today the Apostle, Prophet, Evangelist,

00:31:31.760 --> 00:31:34.760
Pastor, Teacher has nothing to do with the church.

00:31:34.760 --> 00:31:37.760
They are organizations that they do whatever they do,

00:31:37.760 --> 00:31:40.760
partnering and raising up partners.

00:31:40.760 --> 00:31:42.760
I do not know for what.

00:31:56.760 --> 00:32:01.760
I'm going back to the timeline of church history.

00:32:01.760 --> 00:32:06.760
33 AD, Jesus ascends.

00:32:06.760 --> 00:32:11.760
First hundred years.

00:32:11.760 --> 00:32:14.760
Very clear apostolic.

00:32:14.760 --> 00:32:19.760
Here it is about the centrality of the church

00:32:19.760 --> 00:32:25.760
and the priority of the apostolic leadership.

00:32:25.760 --> 00:32:27.760
That's the hundred years.

00:32:27.760 --> 00:32:31.760
And slowly the first three hundred years,

00:32:31.760 --> 00:32:33.760
this begins to a little distort

00:32:33.760 --> 00:32:37.760
because of the rising up of the church fathers.

00:32:37.760 --> 00:32:42.760
Because there are over several,

00:32:42.760 --> 00:32:46.760
at least several churches that are spread across

00:32:46.760 --> 00:32:50.760
the then known Roman world.

00:32:51.760 --> 00:32:56.760
So we can very clearly say the first three hundred years

00:32:56.760 --> 00:33:00.760
has been very much centrality of the local church

00:33:00.760 --> 00:33:03.760
and the priority of the apostolic leadership that existed.

00:33:03.760 --> 00:33:07.760
But then comes Constantine.

00:33:07.760 --> 00:33:10.760
And with Constantine accepting Christ and the Crusades

00:33:10.760 --> 00:33:12.760
and all those cross and all of that,

00:33:12.760 --> 00:33:16.760
he's bringing a whole new religion called Christianity.

00:33:16.760 --> 00:33:18.760
And therefore you are deviating, number one,

00:33:18.760 --> 00:33:23.760
who is a Christian gets diluted.

00:33:23.760 --> 00:33:27.760
Before a Christian is about being a disciple of Christ.

00:33:27.760 --> 00:33:32.760
Now after Constantine, anyone who is in the Roman Empire

00:33:32.760 --> 00:33:35.760
and citizen of Rome is a Christian.

00:33:35.760 --> 00:33:38.760
So that's the big dilution that takes place.

00:33:38.760 --> 00:33:41.760
If you are a disciple of Christ, then you are a Christian.

00:33:41.760 --> 00:33:44.760
That's how they named the people in Antioch.

00:33:44.760 --> 00:33:48.760
And suddenly, third century, Constantine comes in and says,

00:33:48.760 --> 00:33:53.760
if you belong to Rome, then you are a Christian.

00:33:53.760 --> 00:33:56.760
And it doesn't matter what you practice and where you practice,

00:33:56.760 --> 00:34:00.760
Constantine made Christianity as the state religion.

00:34:00.760 --> 00:34:04.760
And suddenly appoints buildings, which are government buildings,

00:34:04.760 --> 00:34:08.760
where from Monday through Saturday, courts happen,

00:34:08.760 --> 00:34:11.760
all the public affairs of the city happen.

00:34:11.760 --> 00:34:14.760
But on Sunday, mass began to happen.

00:34:14.760 --> 00:34:17.760
And therefore Constantine began to appoint leaders

00:34:17.760 --> 00:34:22.760
that were city leaders who also took care of the church state religion.

00:34:22.760 --> 00:34:26.760
And that is how quickly, who is a Christian diluted,

00:34:26.760 --> 00:34:29.760
church became a building.

00:34:29.760 --> 00:34:35.760
Church was a community of disciples that met together in catacombs

00:34:35.760 --> 00:34:40.760
and underground caves in Rome suddenly had posh buildings.

00:34:40.760 --> 00:34:47.760
Buildings with porches and cross on top with steeples.

00:34:50.760 --> 00:34:53.760
Now we have not been able to come out of this.

00:34:56.760 --> 00:34:59.760
Thirdly, mission.

00:34:59.760 --> 00:35:07.760
Mission became from planting and multiplication of churches to become war.

00:35:07.760 --> 00:35:11.760
You conquered nations and you,

00:35:11.760 --> 00:35:14.760
the entire idea of crusades and campaigns that we have today

00:35:14.760 --> 00:35:17.760
comes from the idea of Constantine who said,

00:35:17.760 --> 00:35:19.760
let's go war, capture that nation,

00:35:19.760 --> 00:35:24.760
and the moment Roman Empire captured that nation, they became Christian.

00:35:26.760 --> 00:35:30.760
Four, leadership.

00:35:31.760 --> 00:35:35.760
Before it was matured disciples.

00:35:38.760 --> 00:35:44.760
Here it became gifted administrators.

00:35:50.760 --> 00:35:53.760
Five, leadership development.

00:35:56.760 --> 00:36:01.760
Here it was the churches actually developed leaders.

00:36:01.760 --> 00:36:06.760
Here slowly they started to move out into monasteries.

00:36:08.760 --> 00:36:11.760
Because those guys couldn't stay with the world,

00:36:11.760 --> 00:36:14.760
and therefore they removed themselves from the world.

00:36:14.760 --> 00:36:19.760
But this effect took by the 11th century that people were not even wanting to touch the ground,

00:36:19.760 --> 00:36:21.760
that they sat on top of pillars.

00:36:21.760 --> 00:36:24.760
And that's why they were called pillar saints.

00:36:24.760 --> 00:36:27.760
And they removed themselves into the caves,

00:36:27.760 --> 00:36:30.760
and they actually went into contemplation and meditation.

00:36:30.760 --> 00:36:32.760
They had great things to write about,

00:36:32.760 --> 00:36:37.760
but so removed from the natural relationships with the world.

00:36:37.760 --> 00:36:44.760
And therefore theology became out of practice so much.

00:36:48.760 --> 00:36:51.760
This continues on from 3rd century to 10th century.

00:36:51.760 --> 00:36:55.760
10th century there is a split between the Eastern church and the Western church,

00:36:55.760 --> 00:36:58.760
because the church in Constantinople,

00:36:58.760 --> 00:37:00.760
in and around Antioch,

00:37:00.760 --> 00:37:03.760
they rebelled against the papal dictates,

00:37:03.760 --> 00:37:05.760
and they said, no, we will not follow you.

00:37:05.760 --> 00:37:09.760
And the Eastern church divided itself from the Western church.

00:37:09.760 --> 00:37:14.760
But by the time it is 15th century, you have Martin Luther rising up,

00:37:14.760 --> 00:37:19.760
and this entire Protestant movement starts out.

00:37:19.760 --> 00:37:25.760
And so Protestant movement is coming back and giving these four important statements

00:37:25.760 --> 00:37:27.760
of the Protestant reformers.

00:37:27.760 --> 00:37:29.760
One is sola fide.

00:37:29.760 --> 00:37:31.760
I explained yesterday.

00:37:31.760 --> 00:37:33.760
Number two is sola gratia.

00:37:33.760 --> 00:37:35.760
This is faith alone.

00:37:35.760 --> 00:37:36.760
Salvation is by faith alone.

00:37:36.760 --> 00:37:38.760
Salvation is by grace alone.

00:37:38.760 --> 00:37:41.760
And they recover what is called the gospel.

00:37:44.760 --> 00:37:45.760
Sola fide, sola gratia.

00:37:45.760 --> 00:37:47.760
Sola scriptura.

00:37:49.760 --> 00:37:51.760
And priesthood of all believers.

00:37:58.760 --> 00:38:00.760
They never recovered the church.

00:38:00.760 --> 00:38:03.760
They continued the same form of church.

00:38:03.760 --> 00:38:05.760
They never recovered the leadership.

00:38:05.760 --> 00:38:07.760
They continued the same appointed priests.

00:38:07.760 --> 00:38:10.760
Just like how a priest is in the Catholic church,

00:38:10.760 --> 00:38:13.760
there was a Protestant priest who slowly became the pastor,

00:38:13.760 --> 00:38:16.760
and he becomes the senior pastor of the church.

00:38:16.760 --> 00:38:20.760
It is the same Catholic order that continues on.

00:38:23.760 --> 00:38:25.760
They recovered the gospel,

00:38:25.760 --> 00:38:28.760
and that is where Reformed theology is still stuck.

00:38:31.760 --> 00:38:38.760
With great respect for Piper, MacArthur, Keller,

00:38:38.760 --> 00:38:42.760
but still they are stuck only with recovery of the gospel.

00:38:42.760 --> 00:38:46.760
And they have taken the gospel and see the entire scriptures

00:38:46.760 --> 00:38:50.760
through how Luther, Zwingli, and Calvin saw it.

00:38:50.760 --> 00:38:52.760
And they are stuck there.

00:38:56.760 --> 00:39:02.760
The first hundred years, Lutherans, they concentrated on this.

00:39:02.760 --> 00:39:05.760
The second hundred years, Baptists.

00:39:05.760 --> 00:39:09.760
They concentrated on one aspect added onto Luther,

00:39:09.760 --> 00:39:11.760
which is immersion baptism.

00:39:11.760 --> 00:39:13.760
The form of baptism.

00:39:13.760 --> 00:39:16.760
There were wars, and there were Anabaptists,

00:39:16.760 --> 00:39:19.760
and other types of Baptists who killed one another

00:39:19.760 --> 00:39:24.760
just on the basis of whether we should dip and immerse people or not.

00:39:26.760 --> 00:39:33.760
John Wesley and Charles Wesley brought in this entire idea

00:39:33.760 --> 00:39:37.760
of methodically studying scriptures in small groups,

00:39:37.760 --> 00:39:42.760
and they really pushed the idea of the ecclesiola and ecclesia.

00:39:42.760 --> 00:39:47.760
That means those who sit down and methodically study the scriptures

00:39:47.760 --> 00:39:50.760
are the real church within the church building.

00:39:51.760 --> 00:39:54.760
That's how we call them Methodists.

00:39:54.760 --> 00:39:58.760
They sit down and study scriptures in an orderly fashion,

00:39:58.760 --> 00:40:01.760
and there were small groups within the church building

00:40:01.760 --> 00:40:04.760
that met either before the mass or after the mass,

00:40:04.760 --> 00:40:07.760
where they actually formed their small groups.

00:40:07.760 --> 00:40:11.760
And Wesley was someone who rode on horseback

00:40:11.760 --> 00:40:15.760
going to cities after cities to evangelize

00:40:15.760 --> 00:40:20.760
and to call the church back to its original intent of the gospel.

00:40:22.760 --> 00:40:27.760
So that's the first 16th century, 17th century, 18th century.

00:40:27.760 --> 00:40:30.760
19th century is what is the use of studying scriptures

00:40:30.760 --> 00:40:35.760
if we can't live a holy life or put the scriptures into practice,

00:40:35.760 --> 00:40:38.760
and the whole holiness movement came into being.

00:40:38.760 --> 00:40:41.760
We've got to live holy lives.

00:40:41.760 --> 00:40:44.760
If we have to study the scriptures and live this old life,

00:40:44.760 --> 00:40:46.760
what is the use of studying scriptures?

00:40:46.760 --> 00:40:48.760
We've got to live a holy life,

00:40:48.760 --> 00:40:51.760
and the whole holiness movement came into being.

00:40:51.760 --> 00:40:55.760
And then the entire fallout is that we are trying to be holy,

00:40:55.760 --> 00:40:58.760
we can't live holy, and therefore there's something that is missing,

00:40:58.760 --> 00:41:01.760
and therefore they sat down to read the scriptures,

00:41:01.760 --> 00:41:04.760
they stumbled upon Acts chapter 2, and they said,

00:41:04.760 --> 00:41:08.760
hey, we need the Holy Spirit in order to live this holy life.

00:41:08.760 --> 00:41:12.760
And that's how the Pentecostal movement started 100 years ago.

00:41:15.760 --> 00:41:18.760
While the Pentecostal movement started 100 years ago,

00:41:18.760 --> 00:41:22.760
the Spirit started to move, and the movement thought the Spirit started to move.

00:41:22.760 --> 00:41:25.760
The Spirit can say whatever He wants to say.

00:41:25.760 --> 00:41:30.760
They left the word which was the forte of the previous groups of people.

00:41:30.760 --> 00:41:34.760
Luther, although they recovered the gospel and they were solid with that gospel,

00:41:34.760 --> 00:41:37.760
and they have theology of the gospel extremely well,

00:41:37.760 --> 00:41:40.760
and they held onto the core extremely well.

00:41:40.760 --> 00:41:44.760
The Pentecostals, because of the movement of the Spirit that they did not concentrate on the word,

00:41:44.760 --> 00:41:48.760
that they started to split and splinter constantly.

00:41:48.760 --> 00:41:51.760
Now one of the things that happened is that the Pentecostal movement,

00:41:51.760 --> 00:41:55.760
the initial Pentecostals were the Ascetics of God, the Church of God,

00:41:55.760 --> 00:42:04.760
the Four Squares of God, these are initial Pentecostal movements that were also.

00:42:04.760 --> 00:42:11.760
They all emphasized on the speaking in tongues as the initial evidence of the baptism of the Holy Spirit.

00:42:11.760 --> 00:42:15.760
They were so very focused on that that the other gifts were sidelined.

00:42:15.760 --> 00:42:19.760
And that's when the Charismatic revival began in the 50s,

00:42:19.760 --> 00:42:23.760
where all of the gifts are to be experienced, not just speaking of tongues.

00:42:23.760 --> 00:42:29.760
And therefore the whole set of people begin to emerge called the Charismatics.

00:42:29.760 --> 00:42:34.760
While the Charismatics were on the move,

00:42:34.760 --> 00:42:39.760
that someone in the Baptist Church began to experience,

00:42:39.760 --> 00:42:43.760
hey, maybe not everybody is called to be a pastor.

00:42:43.760 --> 00:42:49.760
There are other giftedness in the body, and that's how Dr. Billy Graham actually,

00:42:49.760 --> 00:42:54.760
he said, if I am an evangelist and not a pastor, what am I doing in the church?

00:42:55.760 --> 00:43:01.760
And therefore he left the church in a sense of not, he did not leave the church.

00:43:01.760 --> 00:43:04.760
He said, I am evangelist, I am not a pastor.

00:43:04.760 --> 00:43:10.760
And therefore he starts out an organization called BGEA,

00:43:10.760 --> 00:43:15.760
Billy Graham Evangelistic Association,

00:43:15.760 --> 00:43:21.760
which is the primary model for what is called as FIONC in the US,

00:43:21.760 --> 00:43:27.760
which is a non-profit, non-church entity.

00:43:27.760 --> 00:43:30.760
And it is not government, it is not church,

00:43:30.760 --> 00:43:35.760
but it is the Christian organization format that begins to take shape around Dr. Billy Graham,

00:43:35.760 --> 00:43:40.760
because he makes the statement that I am not a pastor, I am called to be an evangelist,

00:43:40.760 --> 00:43:44.760
and therefore I can't really pastor a church, I need to be going and sharing the gospel.

00:43:44.760 --> 00:43:52.760
Out of this root comes the whole charismatic evangelist with Oral Roberts, Catherine Kuhlman,

00:43:52.760 --> 00:43:57.760
of that tradition comes Dr. Benny Hinn,

00:43:57.760 --> 00:44:05.760
and all those evangelists that we talk about, and all the evangelists back in India with all kinds of ministries,

00:44:05.760 --> 00:44:09.760
either named after them or around Jesus.

00:44:09.760 --> 00:44:16.760
One of the two is a very typical thing, it will be the Benny Hinn International Ministries,

00:44:16.760 --> 00:44:21.760
or Oral Roberts Ministries, or it would be Jesus Calls, Jesus Comes, Jesus Goes,

00:44:21.760 --> 00:44:25.760
all kinds of ministries and organizations that emerge out,

00:44:25.760 --> 00:44:33.760
but they actually are shaped around the parachurch format of the NGOs,

00:44:33.760 --> 00:44:37.760
and Christian non-governmental organization patterns.

00:44:38.760 --> 00:44:45.760
And so, the evangelists all come out of the church, and that's the 50s and 60s.

00:44:45.760 --> 00:44:50.760
The 70s and the 80s, the prophets suddenly woke up from within the church,

00:44:50.760 --> 00:44:54.760
and the church pastors became the king of the local churches,

00:44:54.760 --> 00:45:00.760
and they would not let anybody operate, and therefore they become the CEOs and the kings of the churches.

00:45:00.760 --> 00:45:04.760
That prophetic cannot exist in the churches, the prophets began to come out,

00:45:04.760 --> 00:45:09.760
and prophetic associations, conglomerations began in the 70s and 80s.

00:45:09.760 --> 00:45:15.760
By the time you come to the 90s, suddenly church growth movement with Peter C. Wagner,

00:45:15.760 --> 00:45:21.760
coming with this clear understanding after McGavran's and Fuller,

00:45:21.760 --> 00:45:25.760
they came up with this entire strategy called church growth movement,

00:45:25.760 --> 00:45:29.760
and they started to understand how churches are growing and why some churches are growing,

00:45:29.760 --> 00:45:34.760
and Paul Yong-Hee Cho in Korea becomes the key model which they study,

00:45:34.760 --> 00:45:38.760
church growth movement, the church growth international starts and Fuller,

00:45:38.760 --> 00:45:42.760
and does a lot of research around, comes to this grand big conclusion

00:45:42.760 --> 00:45:48.760
that maybe a pastor of the large growing church is not a pastor, he must be an apostle.

00:45:48.760 --> 00:45:57.760
And so they begin to name those churches that have the capacity to grow into huge numbers as apostles,

00:45:57.760 --> 00:46:00.760
and then slowly apostles come out of the churches,

00:46:00.760 --> 00:46:08.760
and they form the apostolic, not apostles, circles or networks of apostles across the world.

00:46:08.760 --> 00:46:11.760
And therefore everyone actually begins to believe the church,

00:46:11.760 --> 00:46:14.760
and it has nothing to do with the church at the end of it.

00:46:14.760 --> 00:46:19.760
The pastor becomes the king of the church, and all the others are existing outside the church,

00:46:19.760 --> 00:46:23.760
feeding off the church, but not building the church,

00:46:23.760 --> 00:46:30.760
but building these each and every individual ministries with the churches following what the Catholic Church follows,

00:46:30.760 --> 00:46:40.760
which is the buildings and the crowds and the mass and the communion and the motivational teachings.

00:46:40.760 --> 00:46:46.760
Teachers actually went off to the Bible colleges and they became the scholars and teachers,

00:46:46.760 --> 00:46:55.760
so all of them have left what the source of where people need to exist in and function together as.

00:46:55.760 --> 00:47:01.760
And so the apostolic is about being sent from the church to form churches.

00:47:01.760 --> 00:47:06.760
Today everyone is doing whatever because we believe that I am doing what,

00:47:06.760 --> 00:47:16.760
so slowly with the onslaught of from being community oriented to becoming highly individualistic in the culture,

00:47:16.760 --> 00:47:20.760
therefore every individual has an individual call from God.

00:47:20.760 --> 00:47:25.760
And it's a corruption of the world's philosophy of individuals,

00:47:25.760 --> 00:47:32.760
because I have a unique call and I build things around me,

00:47:32.760 --> 00:47:37.760
versus God has commissioned the community,

00:47:37.760 --> 00:47:41.760
which there are apostolic leaders who progress.

00:47:41.760 --> 00:47:45.760
That has been distorted completely, which is what is found in the New Testament.

00:47:45.760 --> 00:47:51.760
Now we became Chadwick International Ministries.

00:47:51.760 --> 00:47:57.760
See, I am as nice.

00:47:57.760 --> 00:48:03.760
So we start to look in for our identity in this entire gamut of what God is doing,

00:48:03.760 --> 00:48:06.760
because that's exactly what sells in the world,

00:48:06.760 --> 00:48:09.760
because that's how you can market who you are.

00:48:09.760 --> 00:48:12.760
That's why you are sought after,

00:48:12.760 --> 00:48:23.760
because you have a niche, you have something you need to offer that people want.

00:48:23.760 --> 00:48:29.760
We have destroyed this entire idea of what the church is,

00:48:29.760 --> 00:48:36.760
what the apostolic priority and the centrality of the local church is supposed to be.

00:48:36.760 --> 00:48:40.760
Therefore it's like nobody can actually say what the church is,

00:48:40.760 --> 00:48:43.760
because nobody wants to define what the church is.

00:48:43.760 --> 00:48:46.760
Nobody knows what the church is.

00:48:46.760 --> 00:48:49.760
Everything is mission, everything is ministry.

00:48:49.760 --> 00:48:52.760
I visit the hospital, it's the hospital ministry.

00:48:52.760 --> 00:48:58.760
I go to a few places, I become an evangelist.

00:48:58.760 --> 00:49:02.760
Therefore each thing is built on individual call,

00:49:02.760 --> 00:49:05.760
and individual giftedness or individual life work.

00:49:05.760 --> 00:49:09.760
Yes, each one is given a set of good works to be doing,

00:49:09.760 --> 00:49:12.760
but it's built around that individual set of work

00:49:12.760 --> 00:49:17.760
and a whole host of people working for that individual person.

00:49:17.760 --> 00:49:19.760
We've lost the plot.

00:49:19.760 --> 00:49:23.760
Humpty Dumpty has fallen and broken,

00:49:23.760 --> 00:49:27.760
and nobody knows how to put Humpty Dumpty back in its place.

00:49:32.760 --> 00:49:34.760
And that's the reason why we can't actually,

00:49:34.760 --> 00:49:39.760
the greatest challenge is most of them have their theology set around reform.

00:49:39.760 --> 00:49:41.760
And therefore in the 21st century, even today,

00:49:41.760 --> 00:49:44.760
every reference is back here to what Luther said,

00:49:44.760 --> 00:49:47.760
what Henry said, Galván said.

00:49:49.760 --> 00:49:54.760
No, we've got to go back to the way of Christ as apostles,

00:49:54.760 --> 00:49:58.760
to build back what we need to build as a church.

00:49:58.760 --> 00:50:00.760
And that's the process we are in.

00:50:03.760 --> 00:50:08.760
While not negating all that God has done through the history,

00:50:08.760 --> 00:50:11.760
good, bad, ugly, all becomes lessons.

00:50:11.760 --> 00:50:13.760
Not that we don't have to study all of them.

00:50:13.760 --> 00:50:17.760
We can truly see that in the light of the scriptures,

00:50:17.760 --> 00:50:20.760
not as models to be followed and emanated.

00:50:24.760 --> 00:50:27.760
So we actually go into things like,

00:50:27.760 --> 00:50:30.760
I want to be like, not what the scriptures says,

00:50:30.760 --> 00:50:33.760
I want to be like Jacob, I want to be like Dr. D.G.S. Sennagran,

00:50:33.760 --> 00:50:37.760
I want to be like Oral Roberts or Benny Hinn.

00:50:37.760 --> 00:50:41.760
That becomes the shaping of our call.

00:50:41.760 --> 00:50:44.760
No, that's not, I'm sorry, it's not.

00:50:45.760 --> 00:50:46.760
You can't.

00:50:47.760 --> 00:50:51.760
With all due respect and honor, flawed methods.

00:50:54.760 --> 00:50:58.760
Maybe even they did what God wanted them to do in that season.

00:50:58.760 --> 00:51:00.760
Let's give the due respect.

00:51:00.760 --> 00:51:02.760
But that's not what.

00:51:02.760 --> 00:51:04.760
We have not recovered the church.

00:51:04.760 --> 00:51:07.760
We have not recovered the apostolic leadership the way it needs to be.

00:51:07.760 --> 00:51:10.760
We have not recovered what leadership is supposed to be.

00:51:10.760 --> 00:51:12.760
We have not recovered missions.

00:51:12.760 --> 00:51:14.760
So we've got to recover who is a Christian,

00:51:14.760 --> 00:51:16.760
we've got to recover what's a church,

00:51:16.760 --> 00:51:17.760
we've got to recover what's mission,

00:51:17.760 --> 00:51:19.760
we've got to recover what's leadership,

00:51:19.760 --> 00:51:21.760
we've got to recover what is leadership development,

00:51:21.760 --> 00:51:24.760
and we've got to go back to the way of Christ as apostles

00:51:24.760 --> 00:51:28.760
and build it for the 21st century in our own context and in our own situations.

00:51:28.760 --> 00:51:33.760
Now what happens in India and Chennai may be different from what happens in greater Vancouver.

00:51:33.760 --> 00:51:38.760
But the principles and the foundational principles in philosophy are the same.

00:51:38.760 --> 00:51:42.760
The forms and the culture differs.

00:51:50.760 --> 00:51:51.760
Questions?

00:52:03.760 --> 00:52:06.760
The more steeped into a lot of traditions, the more.

00:52:06.760 --> 00:52:10.760
For me, New Life Assemblies of God is a big challenge

00:52:10.760 --> 00:52:13.760
because you are already in a 100-year tradition of Assemblies of God.

00:52:13.760 --> 00:52:16.760
And therefore you have ways and means by which you do.

00:52:21.760 --> 00:52:25.760
And the larger the number, the greater the difficulty.

00:52:26.760 --> 00:52:34.760
What I call this Titanic is going at neck-breaking speed.

00:52:34.760 --> 00:52:37.760
We don't know when it will hit the iceberg.

00:52:37.760 --> 00:52:41.760
What we keep doing is create enough lifeboats.

00:52:44.760 --> 00:52:47.760
Because the Titanic does not have enough lifeboats.

00:52:47.760 --> 00:52:49.760
We're not going to salvage.

00:52:49.760 --> 00:52:53.760
When the government says, let's close down this,

00:52:56.760 --> 00:53:00.760
and so this obsession to become larger and larger without truly...

00:53:00.760 --> 00:53:03.760
Nothing wrong in gathering all the people on a Sunday.

00:53:03.760 --> 00:53:08.760
That's nothing wrong in it because it really helps you develop one-mindedness around the teaching.

00:53:08.760 --> 00:53:12.760
There can be a teacher who can actually rally people around and focus.

00:53:12.760 --> 00:53:16.760
But we don't truly have these smaller groups of people.

00:53:16.760 --> 00:53:19.760
As long as we can gather all the good,

00:53:19.760 --> 00:53:22.760
but not at the cost of the smaller groups of communities

00:53:22.760 --> 00:53:24.760
because the church is not the crowd.

00:53:24.760 --> 00:53:27.760
The church is the community of disciples of Christ.

00:53:33.760 --> 00:53:36.760
Cell groups is like a halfway home.

00:53:36.760 --> 00:53:40.760
In a large church, cell groups can be halfway home.

00:53:40.760 --> 00:53:43.760
But if it stops, it stops as a halfway home.

00:53:43.760 --> 00:53:45.760
It's not the real thing.

00:53:45.760 --> 00:53:49.760
But we need to really move them to truly existing communities of disciples

00:53:49.760 --> 00:53:52.760
with elders amongst them who guard the teaching

00:53:52.760 --> 00:53:56.760
and who are truly maturing and reflecting Christ to the watching.

00:53:56.760 --> 00:54:18.760
And that's why we are beginning to use communities of disciples,

00:54:18.760 --> 00:54:21.760
Christ communities, households of faith,

00:54:22.760 --> 00:54:26.760
various other language and vocabularies that we need to add on.

00:54:26.760 --> 00:54:36.760
Biblical church, 21st century church, worldly church, traditional church.

00:54:43.760 --> 00:54:50.760
Absolutely. I sat in a forum in Lausanne just before coming here.

00:54:50.760 --> 00:54:53.760
With the 800 workplace ministers.

00:54:53.760 --> 00:54:56.760
They hate the church. They don't like the church.

00:54:56.760 --> 00:54:59.760
They believe that church is a failure.

00:54:59.760 --> 00:55:02.760
Because what they process is true.

00:55:02.760 --> 00:55:08.760
Institutional, denominalized churches that has power struggles and elections.

00:55:08.760 --> 00:55:12.760
I came out of an election of the Assemblies of God of India

00:55:12.760 --> 00:55:17.760
where people took more papers on the ballot to vote.

00:55:17.760 --> 00:55:20.760
It was no different from the general elections of India.

00:55:20.760 --> 00:55:26.760
People were writing, they grabbed four more papers to write a person's name.

00:55:26.760 --> 00:55:30.760
Canvassing, taking place.

00:55:30.760 --> 00:55:33.760
And sometimes you feel like the Pentecostals are not,

00:55:33.760 --> 00:55:39.760
are just following the other groups of people where the bishop election goes on.

00:55:39.760 --> 00:55:42.760
They are no different because corruption is everywhere.

00:55:47.760 --> 00:55:49.760
Thank you.

00:56:17.760 --> 00:56:29.760
We got to come to the reality of it.

00:56:29.760 --> 00:56:34.760
When the government says church, they are not talking about the community of disciples.

00:56:34.760 --> 00:56:41.760
So there is, you need to understand that there is what they call as,

00:56:41.760 --> 00:56:49.760
Now church is a technical term established by the world.

00:56:49.760 --> 00:56:55.760
Within regards to our community, I think, so I find it very hard.

00:56:55.760 --> 00:57:02.760
So when I am getting up in the morning and I am going to New Life Assemblies of God Church in Little Mount,

00:57:02.760 --> 00:57:06.760
I am beginning to, I am going to the building.

00:57:06.760 --> 00:57:10.760
I consciously keep working on my vocabulary.

00:57:10.760 --> 00:57:14.760
I am saying I am going to the building, office building.

00:57:14.760 --> 00:57:22.760
Because I grew up in the days of my life when I grew up as a person in the church.

00:57:22.760 --> 00:57:24.760
And grew up in the church.

00:57:24.760 --> 00:57:28.760
My natural tendency is when I think about Little Mount Chennai,

00:57:28.760 --> 00:57:30.760
I am thinking about that location and the building.

00:57:30.760 --> 00:57:42.760
That is New Life Assemblies of God Church.

00:57:42.760 --> 00:57:48.760
On a Sunday morning as a gathering of churches,

00:57:48.760 --> 00:57:54.760
I think it is a common understanding among those people who come to our small communities.

00:57:54.760 --> 00:57:58.760
It makes a common understanding for people who just come Sunday morning.

00:57:58.760 --> 00:58:07.760
But it is a clear understanding for all those guys who are part of the community that for the church is their community.

00:58:14.760 --> 00:58:20.760
I don't think we have any problems calling the small group as a church.

00:58:20.760 --> 00:58:22.760
That is not a problem at all.

00:58:22.760 --> 00:58:30.760
As long as we have that group, before you declare a church a church, make sure the church is a church.

00:58:30.760 --> 00:58:33.760
So don't be quick to name a church.

00:58:33.760 --> 00:58:37.760
Study groups are not churches. Prayer groups are not churches.

00:58:37.760 --> 00:58:44.760
All the elements that we drew out yesterday with regards to the community of disciples growing up to be a family

00:58:44.760 --> 00:58:48.760
with a clear understanding of learning, living and teaching the principles of Christ,

00:58:48.760 --> 00:58:57.760
a clear understanding of good life, good works, good homes and good news with elders and deacons in place.

00:58:57.760 --> 00:59:03.760
Because the crucial thing is, elders and deacons are not in place, you can't really have a church.

00:59:03.760 --> 00:59:06.760
So there are halfway homes that I have to.

00:59:06.760 --> 00:59:13.760
So when I am deconstructing a Magda church back home and reconstructing it as a network of churches,

00:59:13.760 --> 00:59:15.760
I am not able to declare everything a church.

00:59:15.760 --> 00:59:21.760
So I have to name some things as life groups, some things as churches.

00:59:21.760 --> 00:59:23.760
And so we are now.

00:59:23.760 --> 00:59:25.760
Just around.

00:59:25.760 --> 00:59:32.760
So just because some of the teens gather together in a group, that doesn't become a church because it's a homogenous community.

00:59:32.760 --> 00:59:35.760
A homogenous community is not a church. A heterogeneous community is a church.

00:59:35.760 --> 00:59:43.760
A family is an individual because there needs to be elders and deacons in order because that's what Paul is actually delivering in the middle letters.

00:59:43.760 --> 00:59:48.760
There needs to be elders who shape intergenerational in the youngsters.

00:59:48.760 --> 00:59:58.760
And so these things are all part of a parcel of what I just saw before it becomes because we are deconstructing and reconstructing.

00:59:58.760 --> 01:00:00.760
And so we are in transition.

01:00:00.760 --> 01:00:04.760
I can't declare an analogy to be a network of house churches.

01:00:04.760 --> 01:00:11.760
No, it is not. It is still a Pentecostal assemblies of God, denomination, institutionalized church.

01:00:11.760 --> 01:00:20.760
But amongst that church. And therefore I love this term that Luther used to once and Wesley uses it often.

01:00:20.760 --> 01:00:29.760
Ecclesiola and Ecclesia, which is there is a church, there is a real church within the building or the structure of the denominationized church.

01:00:29.760 --> 01:00:36.760
And therefore I can tell within analogy that's a real church within the assemblies of God church.

01:00:37.760 --> 01:00:41.760
And that church is not 25,000 people.

01:00:44.760 --> 01:00:51.760
There's a crowd of 25,000 to 40,000 that actually swells up on a New Year to 70,000 people.

01:00:54.760 --> 01:00:57.760
That 70,000 is not the church.

01:00:58.760 --> 01:01:07.760
But I can tell with clarity that 58 homes within the English are churches because I know the elders of the church.

01:01:07.760 --> 01:01:12.760
I know that they are about the teachings of Jesus Christ delivered through the apostles.

01:01:12.760 --> 01:01:20.760
I know that they are maturing and are able to counsel, defend the teaching and shape the lives of people.

01:01:20.760 --> 01:01:25.760
But there are, apart from that, totally 104 groups, but all 104 groups are not churches.

01:01:25.760 --> 01:01:28.760
Out of the 104 groups in the English, only 58 are churches.

01:01:28.760 --> 01:01:34.760
I'm saying, I'm working towards here, by 2020 can we have at least 70 house churches?

01:01:35.760 --> 01:01:40.760
So the New Life Assemblies of God English can be a network of 70 house churches.

01:01:40.760 --> 01:01:45.760
There are 1,322 Tamil groups across the city.

01:01:45.760 --> 01:01:49.760
But all 1,322 are not churches.

01:01:51.760 --> 01:01:58.760
There are small groups, out of which I can authentically talk about around 200-210 groups that are truly.

01:01:59.760 --> 01:02:06.760
And so this is the true, if you really take the census of the church at New Life Assemblies of God,

01:02:06.760 --> 01:02:13.760
which is 70,000 on a celebratory weekend to 25,000 to 30,000 on a,

01:02:13.760 --> 01:02:19.760
so you've got to understand on our first week we hit 40, on the last week we hit 30.

01:02:21.760 --> 01:02:26.760
So that means within the first week, communion week, there are some communion Christian crowds

01:02:26.760 --> 01:02:29.760
that come because they have to take communion.

01:02:29.760 --> 01:02:32.760
And I do not know where they go in between.

01:02:33.760 --> 01:02:37.760
To the last week I think they take rest in their homes.

01:02:37.760 --> 01:02:44.760
Because they have, maybe they're on a holiday or they feel like maybe we should do three weeks in a month.

01:02:44.760 --> 01:02:46.760
I don't know what the pattern is.

01:02:46.760 --> 01:02:50.760
These are real statistics of what we have studied through the church.

01:02:50.760 --> 01:03:13.760
I'm going to outline the seven things today.

01:03:13.760 --> 01:03:22.760
Then I don't know how we are going to go with the hospitality that you're giving.

01:03:26.760 --> 01:03:28.760
Can't you delegate that to someone else?

01:03:43.760 --> 01:03:50.760
You're in the beginning of it.

01:03:50.760 --> 01:03:55.760
Just that the spirit has moved to that for the church.

01:03:55.760 --> 01:03:59.760
And Acts 29 can't be stuck in the Sunday evening.

01:03:59.760 --> 01:04:04.760
That's the only sense that I have of the church when I came in yesterday.

01:04:04.760 --> 01:04:06.760
That's where the spirit has moved on.

01:04:06.760 --> 01:04:08.760
It's important that we catch up with the spirit,

01:04:08.760 --> 01:04:13.760
rather than be laid back and think that Jacob is going to lead this church.

01:04:13.760 --> 01:04:22.760
Because Jacob, I believe with all of my heart that Jacob is actually moving on to other territories within even North America.

01:04:22.760 --> 01:04:28.760
Because this morning we had some conversations.

01:04:28.760 --> 01:04:36.760
Certain places need a place like New York.

01:04:36.760 --> 01:04:39.760
You can't just hit from another place.

01:04:39.760 --> 01:04:42.760
You need a residence.

01:04:42.760 --> 01:04:49.760
Either someone placed there so that Jacob can go in and out, or Jacob needs to set up a place.

01:04:49.760 --> 01:04:51.760
I'm not saying New York is the next.

01:04:51.760 --> 01:04:56.760
I'm talking generically with a specific idea of New York.

01:05:03.760 --> 01:05:05.760
And I'm not saying it's going to happen.

01:05:05.760 --> 01:05:08.760
But that's where the spirit is moving on for the church.

01:05:08.760 --> 01:05:14.760
And I have enough evidence and concurrences.

01:05:14.760 --> 01:05:17.760
So we need to quickly measure up.

01:05:18.760 --> 01:05:22.760
And this will not happen if...

01:05:22.760 --> 01:05:25.760
So that move will quicken the process.

01:05:25.760 --> 01:05:30.760
I've seen until I've moved, people don't rise up.

01:05:30.760 --> 01:05:33.760
Because they always see me there.

01:05:33.760 --> 01:05:39.760
Always see me there and they want to suck the best out of me.

01:05:39.760 --> 01:05:54.760
I'm saying the size of the church depends on the capacity of the shepherd.

01:05:54.760 --> 01:05:58.760
And the size of the meeting place.

01:05:58.760 --> 01:06:00.760
So these are two factors.

01:06:00.760 --> 01:06:05.760
I can't actually have a cramped in hall.

01:06:06.760 --> 01:06:08.760
You've got to understand culture.

01:06:08.760 --> 01:06:10.760
You've got to understand culture too.

01:06:10.760 --> 01:06:13.760
Again, in India I can cramp.

01:06:13.760 --> 01:06:15.760
But not in Vancouver.

01:06:15.760 --> 01:06:18.760
You become 8 to 10 people in a living room.

01:06:18.760 --> 01:06:23.760
You already have some people complaining about enough carbon dioxide here.

01:06:23.760 --> 01:06:29.760
So you've got to understand that these dynamics change with culture and context.

01:06:29.760 --> 01:06:37.760
But for me the real essence of it is, can the elder truly handle?

01:06:37.760 --> 01:06:41.760
You've got to understand that yes, Jeevan could be an elder.

01:06:41.760 --> 01:06:47.760
But if there is a marital issue that someone is experiencing, you can talk theoretically.

01:06:47.760 --> 01:06:49.760
Ask Jacob about it.

01:06:49.760 --> 01:06:52.760
It's the purest form of theory.

01:06:52.760 --> 01:07:00.760
Can I proceed?

01:07:00.760 --> 01:07:06.760
Yeah, not distorted by any experience.

01:07:06.760 --> 01:07:12.760
Pure, divine.

01:07:12.760 --> 01:07:19.760
But it would be a challenge because Jeevan may have to depend on another couple.

01:07:19.760 --> 01:07:25.760
And that's why I think Jeevan would need, at this point of time, if he still wants to continue like Jacob,

01:07:25.760 --> 01:07:33.760
he will not be able to fully cater to the new families that are going to come into this.

01:07:43.760 --> 01:07:45.760
You understand?

01:07:45.760 --> 01:07:47.760
Actually, the church is a family of families.

01:07:47.760 --> 01:07:49.760
It has families and individuals.

01:07:49.760 --> 01:07:56.760
And that's the reason why the instruction to the appointment of elders is so specific around the family.

01:07:56.760 --> 01:08:03.760
If he is not able to take care of the family well, how can he actually take care of the...

01:08:03.760 --> 01:08:06.760
So sometimes eldership truly...

01:08:06.760 --> 01:08:09.760
I'm not saying that singleness can't be an elder.

01:08:09.760 --> 01:08:11.760
Single people can be elders.

01:08:11.760 --> 01:08:14.760
And that's why eldership is not a single person.

01:08:14.760 --> 01:08:17.760
Eldership is a team.

01:08:17.760 --> 01:08:22.760
Eldership is a team and therefore Jeevan needs to be supported by another couple who is mature.

01:08:22.760 --> 01:08:29.760
In order to, at this point of time, to help the dynamics of a family that comes.

01:08:29.760 --> 01:08:36.760
How do we deal with a child who is so very... not behaving well?

01:08:36.760 --> 01:08:41.760
Or a teenager who's moving into the teen and sometimes me...

01:08:41.760 --> 01:08:44.760
I have a boy who's moving into the 12.

01:08:44.760 --> 01:08:48.760
Just now I understand the dynamics of how those people who have actually had teenagers,

01:08:48.760 --> 01:08:52.760
they come and speak as if their entire life is lost.

01:08:52.760 --> 01:08:53.760
I never used to understand that.

01:08:53.760 --> 01:08:56.760
Now I'm beginning to understand it a little.

01:08:56.760 --> 01:09:05.760
Because there is, whether you like it or not, there is an element of theology in practice.

01:09:05.760 --> 01:09:08.760
Theology is good. Biblical understanding and teaching is good.

01:09:08.760 --> 01:09:13.760
But theology in practice is the only way by which we...

01:09:13.760 --> 01:09:18.760
And it does not... So that's the reason Jeevan can be an elder.

01:09:18.760 --> 01:09:22.760
Not that Jeevan can't be an elder, but he needs support from another family.

01:09:22.760 --> 01:09:27.760
If we have to really build a church.

01:09:27.760 --> 01:09:37.760
Jeevan can deliver the teaching, but teaching in practice needs another couple standing shoulder to shoulder with Jeevan.

01:09:37.760 --> 01:09:42.760
You've got to release him out of the singleness.

01:09:51.760 --> 01:09:53.760
Yeah, come.

01:09:53.760 --> 01:09:59.760
For a context of greater Vancouver, a non-Indian would be much better.

01:09:59.760 --> 01:10:03.760
If you have some burden over Hanoi.

01:10:11.760 --> 01:10:13.760
Yes.

01:10:29.760 --> 01:10:41.760
If we are willing to repent, because I have to repent of my ways.

01:10:41.760 --> 01:10:45.760
There's only one way by which Christ is building. That's his way.

01:10:45.760 --> 01:10:50.760
And the Christian organizations and churches are building our way.

01:10:50.760 --> 01:10:52.760
We have our own traditions.

01:10:52.760 --> 01:10:58.760
We have our own set that we believe is a better solution than what Christ offers.

01:10:58.760 --> 01:11:01.760
That's the greatest challenge of the Christian world today.

01:11:01.760 --> 01:11:08.760
Because we believe that there is an innovative way and a creative way by which we can do what God is wanting to do.

01:11:08.760 --> 01:11:13.760
That is the downfall of Christianity as a religion.

01:11:13.760 --> 01:11:17.760
Because we have become a religion. We have become a force to reckon with.

01:11:17.760 --> 01:11:21.760
We are political. We have power. We have money.

01:11:21.760 --> 01:11:25.760
And we have lost ourselves to man.

01:11:25.760 --> 01:11:27.760
We have to come out of it.

01:11:27.760 --> 01:11:31.760
And give up these things in order to build.

01:11:31.760 --> 01:11:35.760
And I see that there is a whole host of people rising up.

01:11:35.760 --> 01:11:41.760
Because I'm seeing things happen not because someone is going and teaching.

01:11:41.760 --> 01:11:48.760
Because I'm seeing this happen if someone truly is wanting to follow the Spirit and not follow.

01:11:48.760 --> 01:11:52.760
So one of the couples from our church actually left nine years ago from our church.

01:11:52.760 --> 01:11:55.760
And one of the prayers that God asked them to pray is,

01:11:55.760 --> 01:11:59.760
Lord help us not to build another New Life Assembly of God's Church in Maranasi.

01:11:59.760 --> 01:12:03.760
And they sought the Spirit to do what is needed for them.

01:12:03.760 --> 01:12:08.760
So I'm coming to them after six years with these teachings.

01:12:08.760 --> 01:12:11.760
And they're saying this is exactly what we are doing because we follow the Spirit.

01:12:11.760 --> 01:12:19.760
And we didn't want to ape or model in religion.

01:12:19.760 --> 01:12:23.760
Because the problem with us is we model something that we see.

01:12:23.760 --> 01:12:25.760
And Christianity is modeling.

01:12:25.760 --> 01:12:28.760
Therefore that's why everyone wants to be a Hillsong Church.

01:12:28.760 --> 01:12:29.760
Everyone wants to be a Bethel Church.

01:12:29.760 --> 01:12:34.760
Everyone wants to be Joel Osteen's Church.

01:12:34.760 --> 01:12:38.760
Everyone wants to be a Pastor Mohan's Church. That's my dad.

01:12:38.760 --> 01:12:40.760
Everyone wants to be Pastor Bolthagya's Church.

01:12:40.760 --> 01:12:43.760
Back in an Indian context.

01:12:43.760 --> 01:12:46.760
Sorry that's not what you're called.

01:12:49.760 --> 01:13:05.760
So I think this is enough and more that the scriptures have been written and sealed clearly.

01:13:05.760 --> 01:13:09.760
The problem is we don't give attention to scriptures.

01:13:09.760 --> 01:13:14.760
We give more weightage to our innovative ways and means,

01:13:14.760 --> 01:13:21.760
which actually ends up into a secular corporate philosophy of how we can build corporations and organizations.

01:13:21.760 --> 01:13:27.760
So we actually go by what the world does with all sincerity.

01:13:27.760 --> 01:13:29.760
And that's why we have marketing.

01:13:29.760 --> 01:13:32.760
We have social media posts.

01:13:32.760 --> 01:13:35.760
And we have so many things.

01:13:35.760 --> 01:13:47.760
Yeah, did you know there's a very clear statistic on those churches that are on media are the churches that are growing today.

01:13:47.760 --> 01:13:50.760
It's mass communication.

01:13:50.760 --> 01:13:56.760
And those churches are brilliant. It's growing. Leaps and bounds.

01:13:56.760 --> 01:14:04.760
And you see immediately you can associate the top money spent is on media.

01:14:04.760 --> 01:14:08.760
Media is virtual reality. There's no real thing about it.

01:14:08.760 --> 01:14:11.760
Discipleship is about one on one.

01:14:11.760 --> 01:14:13.760
Rubbing shoulders with one another.

01:14:13.760 --> 01:14:15.760
Eye to eye.

01:14:15.760 --> 01:14:19.760
Communication. Relationship. Authentic.

01:14:19.760 --> 01:14:22.760
The other world is virtual reality.

01:14:22.760 --> 01:14:27.760
Artificial intelligence, virtual reality. Google hits.

01:14:27.760 --> 01:14:30.760
How do you keep your page up?

01:14:30.760 --> 01:14:34.760
How can you actually have presence?

01:14:34.760 --> 01:14:37.760
This is not about God's presence. This is about media presence.

01:14:37.760 --> 01:14:39.760
How can you be out there in the faces of people?

01:14:39.760 --> 01:14:51.760
That's exactly what all of the church conferences have become.

01:14:51.760 --> 01:14:54.760
Not that we can't use all these things.

01:14:54.760 --> 01:14:56.760
We are not against media.

01:14:56.760 --> 01:15:00.760
But if you really don't do what Christ.

01:15:00.760 --> 01:15:04.760
Not against media. Not against. We can't be in our social media. No.

01:15:04.760 --> 01:15:09.760
I'm not saying that. I'm saying if we don't really do what we are supposed to be doing.

01:15:09.760 --> 01:15:18.760
I have pastors within the city that have struggles because someone else's video is having on YouTube doing much better than theirs and they're discouraged.

01:15:18.760 --> 01:15:22.760
Because I'm in constant touch with some of them personally.

01:15:22.760 --> 01:15:25.760
They open up their lives and you know what's the struggle?

01:15:25.760 --> 01:15:27.760
The struggle is not anything else. They are not sinful.

01:15:27.760 --> 01:15:33.760
The struggle is that pastor who is almost like an equal to them in the city.

01:15:33.760 --> 01:15:37.760
And their post is doing much better on YouTube.

01:15:37.760 --> 01:15:41.760
Especially those who are singers.

01:15:41.760 --> 01:15:52.760
I have a war that goes on because somehow this YouTube likes is associated with money too.

01:15:52.760 --> 01:15:57.760
These are new problems that are not heard of before.

01:15:57.760 --> 01:16:03.760
Reality. These are realities of real church world.

01:16:03.760 --> 01:16:09.760
Let me go to seven things that I'll come back in August and do.

01:16:09.760 --> 01:16:12.760
Tomorrow, yes. I don't know whether you'll...

01:16:12.760 --> 01:16:17.760
We'll start like this with an introduction and go with questions.

01:16:17.760 --> 01:16:22.760
These are seven things. Apostolic map.

01:16:22.760 --> 01:16:25.760
I'm just going to lay them down.

01:16:25.760 --> 01:16:29.760
Number two.

01:16:29.760 --> 01:16:44.760
Church-based apostolic mission.

01:16:44.760 --> 01:16:47.760
Yesterday's mission is sometimes not church-based.

01:16:47.760 --> 01:16:52.760
And most of the churches are not mission-based.

01:16:52.760 --> 01:17:06.760
And therefore we are really building this again a new vocabulary just to explain the centrality of the churches and the priority of the apostolic leadership.

01:17:06.760 --> 01:17:13.760
See, bam. Church-based apostolic missions.

01:17:13.760 --> 01:17:15.760
Apostolic map.

01:17:15.760 --> 01:17:19.760
God has... I'm going to give short definitions.

01:17:19.760 --> 01:17:24.760
God has given a field to apostolic leaders.

01:17:24.760 --> 01:17:33.760
Apostolic leaders along with apostolic bases, which is like an anti-op church here, need to know the field that God has handed over to them.

01:17:33.760 --> 01:17:45.760
It may start small and as we progress can expand, but we need to have a sense of the field that God has given the apostolic leadership along with the apostolic base.

01:17:45.760 --> 01:18:06.760
In that field we got to progress the gospel by the planting, establishing and multiplication of churches.

01:18:06.760 --> 01:18:13.760
And we say churches, these are authentic discipleship communities who are fully embracing the idea of the church.

01:18:13.760 --> 01:18:31.760
Number three, we got to set up the leadership in place as both apostolic leadership and as local eldership within churches.

01:18:31.760 --> 01:18:43.760
We got to recognize both of these leaderships and develop themes around these two sets of leadership that is found in the New Testament.

01:18:43.760 --> 01:18:56.760
So while we have a map, a field that God has handed over to us, we progress the gospel in strategic cities, we plant, establish and multiply churches.

01:18:56.760 --> 01:19:06.760
We clearly develop the leaders so that the churches can be taken care by the local eldership and this apostolic theme grows on so that we can saturate the entire map that God has given us.

01:19:06.760 --> 01:19:29.760
Number four, identify strategic churches within the field to mature them and make them bases.

01:19:29.760 --> 01:19:51.760
We have the Greater Vancouver as our original base, but over a period of time as we plant our churches in New York and as we plant our churches in Baran and as we plant our churches in Hanoi and as we continue on, there are other churches and other cities we become strategic bases which we need to launch further.

01:19:51.760 --> 01:20:03.760
So first for Paul it was Antioch, but then his strategic base shifted into Corinth for one and a half years and then it shifted over to Ephesus from where he was actually launching.

01:20:03.760 --> 01:20:14.760
See that what happened for three centuries gave rise to around 12 other churches in and around the entire circular road around Ephesus.

01:20:14.760 --> 01:20:19.760
So I'll explain more and more, but identify strategic churches within the field.

01:20:19.760 --> 01:20:31.760
Now you're planting churches, you're setting the leadership, while you're setting the leadership over a period of time you know that there are other strategic churches that will become based by which you can launch from their themes.

01:20:31.760 --> 01:20:52.760
Number five, get the local churches to engage in holistic transformation process.

01:20:52.760 --> 01:21:08.760
And I'll explain to you what is this holistic transformation process, which is basically how these communities in a particular area engage themselves in the world so that there can be a webbing out of the churches and replenishing of churches in that particular locality.

01:21:08.760 --> 01:21:12.760
Get the local churches to engage in the holistic transformation process.

01:21:12.760 --> 01:21:33.760
So how do we equip the churches, enable leadership within the churches, we engage them in the communities where the church exists and we expand and multiply churches.

01:21:33.760 --> 01:21:39.760
Equip, enable, engage, expand. Equip, enable, engage, and expand.

01:21:39.760 --> 01:21:51.760
In their local community, identifying what are the local causes that we need to be engaged in, who are the people that we associate with so that we will bring about transformation of the city or the place.

01:21:51.760 --> 01:22:00.760
The good lives, good works, good families, good news, while we equip, enable, engage, and expand.

01:22:00.760 --> 01:22:14.760
Number six, we've got to develop funding for spontaneous expansion.

01:22:14.760 --> 01:22:26.760
We are still a church in the world, therefore we've got to really understand the dynamics of money because we are still in the world, but we need the funding for spontaneous expansion.

01:22:26.760 --> 01:22:34.760
How can we steer away from mammon but use the money for the sake of the progression of the gospel?

01:22:34.760 --> 01:22:54.760
How in this individuals, families, churches, church networks participate with the apostolic team in for the progression of the gospel, developing funding for spontaneous expansion.

01:22:54.760 --> 01:23:12.760
Number seven, when Jacob becomes 72 or 74 plus, at least by then he needs to find a team of people where he can pass him on the baton.

01:23:12.760 --> 01:23:22.760
Baton or the, what do you call it, baton, baton, whatever you want to call it.

01:23:22.760 --> 01:23:32.760
Hand it over. It doesn't mean that you need a sit, but by then the intergenerationally there are churches that are transferred in the local eldership.

01:23:32.760 --> 01:23:36.760
Intergenerationally they are transferred in the apostolic too.

01:23:36.760 --> 01:23:48.760
And the greatest challenge is sometimes transitions happen in local churches, but transitions don't happen in apostolic leadership because apostolic leadership are unique in that sense.

01:23:48.760 --> 01:23:54.760
But we need to find the gifted leaders to pass on so that the apostolic is not sidelined.

01:23:54.760 --> 01:24:02.760
And suddenly the network of churches that you established become larger and bigger and stronger with a lot of money power and slowly the apostolic,

01:24:02.760 --> 01:24:08.760
which was the force by which these things happen, drains down and becomes an administrative group.

01:24:08.760 --> 01:24:16.760
That's how many of the apostolic leaders who start out great mission end up a board that they hand over to.

01:24:16.760 --> 01:24:22.760
And the board is actually sitting down and seeing how they can maintain things and have lost their apostolic edge.

01:24:23.760 --> 01:24:27.760
So how do we pass on? So these are seven.

01:24:27.760 --> 01:24:35.760
This is through the New Testament and out of all the New Testament studies I was able to pick them up and slot them into these seven.

01:24:47.760 --> 01:24:50.760
Tomorrow we can't finish all. We can start something.

01:24:52.760 --> 01:24:54.760
Yeah, we'll try.

01:24:56.760 --> 01:25:09.760
Six is developing funding for spontaneous expansion where individuals, families, churches and church networks actually develop benefactor funding specifically for.

01:25:09.760 --> 01:25:17.760
And tomorrow I'm planning to have a conversation with the doke to mention, Isaac,

01:25:17.760 --> 01:25:27.760
on how can we develop something called a global Christian entrepreneurs forum or entrepreneurs network

01:25:27.760 --> 01:25:33.760
where entrepreneurs right from the beginning are shaped around the idea of church based apostolic missions

01:25:33.760 --> 01:25:42.760
while they do entrepreneurship with a clear understanding of setting apart a funding right from beginning for the progression of the gospel,

01:25:42.760 --> 01:25:53.760
the planting and the establishing of churches because where the Christian funding is going at this point of time is for because of the postmodern orientation of issues.

01:25:53.760 --> 01:25:58.760
And therefore if there's no water and somewhere money goes there.

01:25:58.760 --> 01:26:05.760
A lot of good works have been funded or justice. International justice mission is one of the greatest funded organizations today.

01:26:05.760 --> 01:26:11.760
Compassion International has all good causes. The issue is not, it's needed.

01:26:11.760 --> 01:26:18.760
Not that money shouldn't go there. But the problem is the money is somehow not being channelized into the progression of the gospel,

01:26:18.760 --> 01:26:24.760
which is where the heart of where Christ is moving the church to be.

01:26:25.760 --> 01:26:31.760
So how do we create this entire philosophy around spontaneous expansion funding?

01:26:38.760 --> 01:26:48.760
Better media. We should harness. Not that we shouldn't harness, but we must make sure that we use the media for the right reason.

01:26:49.760 --> 01:26:56.760
If we use the media and we truly build disciples as because I think knowledge can be transferred through any form,

01:26:56.760 --> 01:27:03.760
but discipleship doesn't take place. KTs can happen. Media is a great source for KT.

01:27:03.760 --> 01:27:12.760
And it doesn't matter whether I sit and talk or you watch on a media. I think the 21st century mind is perfectly fine whether I'm live or not.

01:27:12.760 --> 01:27:20.760
But what can happen is KT. But the interactions that I have with Jacob, KT is knowledge transfer.

01:27:20.760 --> 01:27:29.760
Sorry, that's a very Indian term I think. On an IT world, KT is a very common term, but...

01:27:30.760 --> 01:27:34.760
Nairi world, sorry. I come from India.

01:27:38.760 --> 01:27:49.760
Knowledge transfer. So today media can be a great knowledge transfer, but there's something that happens in the spirit that happens when you rub shoulders,

01:27:49.760 --> 01:27:57.760
when you shake hands, when you eat together. There's something that happens when you eat together that does not happen when you are not eating together.

01:27:59.760 --> 01:28:28.760
Yeah, I think it would slowly move into 3D holograms and projections. I think the possibility of where the world is going is very real.

01:28:30.760 --> 01:28:32.760
You can.

01:28:35.760 --> 01:28:39.760
Virtually immersed. You can even feel wet.

01:28:42.760 --> 01:28:49.760
Because there will be sprays that will come out of your computers, make you wet and you dry up.

01:28:49.760 --> 01:29:01.760
There's no end to technology and where the church can go, but the essence of this entire thing is relationships and relationships always feels...

01:29:01.760 --> 01:29:08.760
I can actually communicate with my wife anywhere in the world with so much of travel, but that's nothing like being there.

01:29:09.760 --> 01:29:12.760
You feel the emptiness after the Skype call or the WhatsApp call.

01:29:19.760 --> 01:29:48.760
You're inviting people home, meals, chats, sitting together.

01:29:50.760 --> 01:29:57.760
Relationships, true, authentic ones. It can't be mass produced.

01:29:57.760 --> 01:30:17.760
It needs to be shaped.

01:30:27.760 --> 01:30:42.760
I think at least to a point where you're confident of your church elders.

01:30:42.760 --> 01:30:52.760
In fact, gathering of the churches together is so important, at least in the initial phase, because one-mindedness of these churches are needed.

01:30:52.760 --> 01:31:06.760
So it's always good to rally them around initially over a period of time depending on the person and their ability and maturity and their loyalty.

01:31:06.760 --> 01:31:19.760
There's so many factors of the elders. Because as elder can actually have a lot of influence on this community and if he is able to teach the right teachings, they will always be united together.

01:31:19.760 --> 01:31:26.760
But if there's a distortion of teaching, they will always chop that portion of the network off.

01:31:26.760 --> 01:31:31.760
Or it can be even personal struggles, personality clashes with the leadership.

01:31:31.760 --> 01:31:43.760
These are the downsides to all of this, that really, at least in the initial maturing stage, till it becomes mature, gathering them together is crucial and key.

01:31:43.760 --> 01:31:52.760
And until persecution hits. At one point of time if persecution hits and you can't gather together, you can't gather together.

01:31:52.760 --> 01:32:01.760
And that's why I believe before those days come. At least it's facing right before us in India.

01:32:01.760 --> 01:32:07.760
In the north of India, cities are okay. We still can manage gathering together.

01:32:07.760 --> 01:32:20.760
But more and more and more while we are, especially in Varanasi when I'm talking about this couple that went and built, they have actually reached out 460 villages now, out of which there are 172 house churches that are.

01:32:20.760 --> 01:32:25.760
But in the district amongst all of this is a place called Jaanpur.

01:32:25.760 --> 01:32:38.760
In Jaanpur, this last year, the pastors had to flee away from the city, from the town, because they couldn't, because they were sought out to be killed or beaten.

01:32:38.760 --> 01:32:47.760
So we can't gather them together. They met together in their own homes.

01:32:47.760 --> 01:32:53.760
So the reality of persecution will push us there anyways.

01:32:53.760 --> 01:33:06.760
You don't think that it's part of Vancouver, greater Vancouver, but for us back home, it is something that faces us right on our faces now.

01:33:06.760 --> 01:33:10.760
China exists that way. Hanoi does that.

01:33:10.760 --> 01:33:21.760
So we are part of a church that is facing the reality of you can't gather on Sunday evenings together in this manner.

01:33:21.760 --> 01:33:30.760
At that time, we got to work out what is available. But till, because this is luxury. Let's enjoy this luxury.

01:33:40.760 --> 01:33:51.760
We'll thank him big time tomorrow. So for now, it's just, thanks Chad.

01:33:51.760 --> 01:34:00.760
So we'll do this song, So Will I. And when you sing it, sing it thinking of that thing he drew on the board where you're sitting.
