00:00:00.000 --> 00:00:04.900
because you talk to them. In fact it's not a good idea to talk to angels. But it's a

00:00:04.900 --> 00:00:11.180
great idea to ask God and God sends angels. I mean I remember the first time was I'd

00:00:11.180 --> 00:00:18.180
been a Christian for three days and I'd read this verse which says sometimes when you help

00:00:18.960 --> 00:00:24.940
people you entertain angels meaning without knowing you sometimes are taking care of angels

00:00:24.940 --> 00:00:30.040
who come sometimes disguised in various forms. I remember travelling in this train, it's

00:00:30.040 --> 00:00:37.040
travelling at 80 kilometers per hour and there's this guy who looks like a beggar sitting near

00:00:37.660 --> 00:00:44.660
the toilet and I decide that someone needs to help him but I was very conscious, I'd

00:00:45.420 --> 00:00:49.140
been a Christian for three days, very conscious of helping him so I wouldn't move and I had

00:00:49.140 --> 00:00:54.720
some food with me. I was so conscious of being a Christian that I had actually wrapped my

00:00:54.800 --> 00:01:00.040
Bible with newspapers so nobody knows I'm reading the Bible. That is how shy I was of

00:01:00.040 --> 00:01:05.280
being a Christian initially and then I remember deciding I've got to go feed this guy because

00:01:05.280 --> 00:01:10.680
I'm reading the Bible, it's talking about this. So I get up and I go and I sit right

00:01:10.680 --> 00:01:14.920
next to him and I start telling him about Jesus and as I'm telling him about Jesus

00:01:14.920 --> 00:01:19.800
he isn't saying anything but tears are just flowing out of his eyes. And so we sit there

00:01:19.800 --> 00:01:24.000
and I eat with him and people are looking at me strangely as in what's wrong with you.

00:01:24.280 --> 00:01:30.280
And then I go back to my seat and five minutes later I thought I'll go give him something

00:01:30.280 --> 00:01:37.280
more and these trains in India don't have through connections to the next compartment,

00:01:37.280 --> 00:01:42.740
it's just there and I go back and this guy has disappeared. So I go looking throughout

00:01:42.740 --> 00:01:48.440
the compartment trying to locate him, can't find him. So I think to myself what if he's

00:01:48.440 --> 00:01:52.880
seated somewhere so I go looking for him, can't find him. And this was just three days

00:01:52.880 --> 00:01:57.720
after becoming a believer and I realized that day that oh shucks, God actually sends

00:01:57.720 --> 00:02:04.720
angels. That was my first encounter. The second time was when I was in a church and I was

00:02:07.640 --> 00:02:12.800
talking to a group of people and I was telling the people how I had often failed and not

00:02:12.800 --> 00:02:16.360
done well and I don't know why things are going wrong and I'm failing and stuff like

00:02:16.360 --> 00:02:20.080
that and there's one man in the congregation, he's sitting there and he's looking at me

00:02:20.080 --> 00:02:25.120
and he's shaking his head sometimes to encourage my points. Whenever I say points about my

00:02:25.120 --> 00:02:29.760
failure he just smiles but whenever I say anything about God or about how God's worked

00:02:29.760 --> 00:02:34.320
for me he shakes his head and I know I've seen him somewhere but I know I've never met

00:02:34.320 --> 00:02:41.320
him before. And this was in England and so after the service the guy comes up to me and

00:02:41.320 --> 00:02:47.400
he says to me that God wants you to know that all the times you thought you failed was not

00:02:47.440 --> 00:02:53.960
a failure, it was a test and you passed and you did well. And then I'm looking at him

00:02:53.960 --> 00:02:57.760
and I want to say to him that I've seen you before, I know you before but I know I haven't,

00:02:57.760 --> 00:03:02.240
I've never met him before. And so I go and ask the pastor who's that guy and the pastor

00:03:02.240 --> 00:03:07.320
says he's never been here before. And a man never came after. Every time I've gone I've

00:03:07.320 --> 00:03:11.040
looked for him, I've asked the pastor and there are multiple pastors in that church,

00:03:11.040 --> 00:03:16.080
never come back after. That was the second occasion when this happened. The third occasion

00:03:16.120 --> 00:03:21.520
was crazy man. Some of these things as I tell you I was recounting today and I wanted to

00:03:21.520 --> 00:03:26.480
tell the kids about this because guys sometimes one of the ways God helps you because only

00:03:26.480 --> 00:03:31.000
God understands what sometimes happens in your heart because even grown-ups can't sometimes

00:03:31.000 --> 00:03:37.360
fathom what happens in a child's heart. God does and God sometimes sends angels to just

00:03:37.360 --> 00:03:44.360
help you. Hi guys. And so the third time was when I desperately needed to give a book called

00:03:46.320 --> 00:03:52.600
The Happiest People on Earth to a person who was not a believer and I knew that book would

00:03:52.600 --> 00:03:59.260
change their lives. And I looked for the book everywhere, couldn't find it. I had one copy

00:03:59.260 --> 00:04:02.960
and I had already given it to somebody. I'm thinking to myself man that guy is going to

00:04:02.960 --> 00:04:08.860
leave tomorrow. And so I prayed a simple prayer before going to bed. I said father I need

00:04:08.860 --> 00:04:13.880
to give this book to this person. What do I do because I won't see this person. I have

00:04:13.880 --> 00:04:19.640
to give the person the book tomorrow. And I said I can't find the book. Looked everywhere,

00:04:19.640 --> 00:04:25.000
can't find it. And I knew I had to give that book. I go to sleep. The next morning the

00:04:25.000 --> 00:04:32.000
strangest thing happens. There's a brand new The Happiest People on Earth right next to

00:04:32.560 --> 00:04:39.560
my night table sitting there. I couldn't believe it. I couldn't believe it. A brand new book.

00:04:39.560 --> 00:04:45.800
These are stories I've never said here before. Why? Because I want you kids to understand

00:04:45.800 --> 00:04:50.760
that man there is a God who understands what's going on in your heart and sometimes when

00:04:50.760 --> 00:04:57.120
you call out to him even if grown ups can't understand it, God does and he turns up. One

00:04:57.120 --> 00:05:02.820
of the coolest things that happened which made me cry that night is I was in this place

00:05:02.900 --> 00:05:09.900
where I was sick. I couldn't move. I wasn't feeling good. It was very cold and I didn't

00:05:10.020 --> 00:05:15.740
have even the strength to move guys. And I'm lying there in bed and I'm crying out of God

00:05:15.740 --> 00:05:21.300
saying father I'm feeling so cold I wish I could go to the next room or whatever and

00:05:21.300 --> 00:05:27.140
get a blanket and put it on myself but I don't even have the strength for it. Now many will

00:05:27.140 --> 00:05:31.060
dismiss this as oh you don't know but maybe you got up at night and did this. I woke up

00:05:31.060 --> 00:05:36.140
in the morning and I'm completely covered with a blanket from the next room. Completely

00:05:36.140 --> 00:05:43.140
covered. I was just in bed weeping because I knew what God had done. Strange things God

00:05:43.140 --> 00:05:48.180
does because children call out to him. The strange thing is he sees you and I as children

00:05:48.180 --> 00:05:53.300
too. But I'm talking about you kids. I know somebody else's story which I don't want to

00:05:53.300 --> 00:06:00.140
share without their permission but I remember once a child who was in dire trouble because

00:06:00.140 --> 00:06:05.300
big ants were going to come and completely crowd the child where it lay. And the mother

00:06:05.300 --> 00:06:10.980
cries out and these two people turn up who help the child out. Multiple times I've heard

00:06:10.980 --> 00:06:15.820
of stories. These four stories happened with me that I'm absolutely aware of. And God only

00:06:15.820 --> 00:06:22.820
knows how many times God is fighting for us pushing back the darkness. Where's that? Go

00:06:22.820 --> 00:06:27.340
to the verse before. God is fighting for us pushing back the darkness. Lighting up the

00:06:27.340 --> 00:06:31.860
kingdom that cannot be shaken. In the name of Jesus enemies defeated and we shout it

00:06:31.860 --> 00:06:37.500
out. These are just four incidents. I can come up with one or two more where God was

00:06:37.500 --> 00:06:44.500
protective. I just want you kids to remember that. Call out to God and sometimes he sends

00:06:44.940 --> 00:06:51.940
angels to take care of you. That's how God is. That's how God is. And strangely enough

00:06:52.460 --> 00:06:59.060
kids, you guys are more prone to angels helping you than us grown ups. We grown ups have become

00:06:59.060 --> 00:07:02.860
too skeptical in our heads. Even as I told these stories some of us were trying to figure

00:07:02.860 --> 00:07:07.620
out perhaps you brought the book and left it on your night table by mistake. Perhaps

00:07:07.620 --> 00:07:11.540
you got up, sleepwalked to the next room, grabbed the blanket and covered it to you,

00:07:11.540 --> 00:07:15.020
covered yourself and you're now saying that God did it. This is how our grown up minds

00:07:15.020 --> 00:07:22.020
think. But God says that you kids have angels appointed to you. It says so in Matthew. I'm

00:07:22.140 --> 00:07:26.460
not kidding you. It actually says so in the Bible. Begin to call out to God and you'll

00:07:26.460 --> 00:07:31.020
find that God will send angels to help you in times of trouble and you won't even understand

00:07:31.020 --> 00:07:38.020
it but you'll suddenly know, huh, something's different. Just thought I'll share that with

00:07:46.020 --> 00:07:49.020
you.

00:07:49.020 --> 00:07:56.020
You hold my every moment You calm my raging seas

00:08:02.020 --> 00:08:09.020
You walk with me through fire And heal all my disease

00:08:16.020 --> 00:08:23.020
I trust in you I trust in you

00:08:27.020 --> 00:08:29.020
One more time from the beginning

00:08:29.020 --> 00:08:36.020
You hold my every moment You calm my raging seas

00:08:37.020 --> 00:08:44.020
You walk with me through fire And heal all my disease

00:08:55.020 --> 00:09:02.020
I trust in you I trust in you

00:09:07.020 --> 00:09:14.020
I believe you're my healer I believe you are all I need

00:09:24.020 --> 00:09:31.020
I believe you're my portion I believe you're my hope

00:09:36.020 --> 00:09:43.020
I believe you're more than enough for me Jesus, you're all I need

00:09:48.020 --> 00:09:55.020
I believe I believe you're my healer

00:09:58.020 --> 00:10:05.020
I believe you are all I need

00:10:07.020 --> 00:10:14.020
I believe you're my portion I believe you're more than enough for me

00:10:24.020 --> 00:10:31.020
Jesus, you're all I need Nothing is impossible

00:10:37.020 --> 00:10:44.020
Nothing is impossible Nothing is impossible for you

00:10:53.020 --> 00:11:00.020
You hold the world in your hands I believe you're my healer

00:11:07.020 --> 00:11:14.020
I believe you are all I need

00:11:17.020 --> 00:11:26.020
I believe you're my portion I believe you're more than enough for me

00:11:27.020 --> 00:11:36.020
You're more than enough for me Jesus, you're all I need

00:11:41.020 --> 00:11:50.020
You're more than enough for me Jesus, you're all I need

00:11:57.020 --> 00:12:01.020
There's a cool verse in Job 36

00:12:03.020 --> 00:12:06.020
Never read it before though, I've read it before

00:12:06.020 --> 00:12:09.020
Job 36 verse 16

00:12:11.020 --> 00:12:13.020
Here's what it says

00:12:13.020 --> 00:12:16.020
God is wooing you from the jaws of distress

00:12:16.020 --> 00:12:21.020
to a spacious place free from restriction

00:12:21.020 --> 00:12:25.020
to the comfort of your table laden with choice food

00:12:25.020 --> 00:12:28.020
God is wooing you from the jaws of distress

00:12:28.020 --> 00:12:32.020
to a spacious place free from restriction

00:12:32.020 --> 00:12:37.020
to the comfort of your table laden with choice food

00:12:37.020 --> 00:12:40.020
Never read that verse before, quite surprised

00:12:44.020 --> 00:12:48.020
Hebrews 11 23-30

00:12:48.020 --> 00:12:54.020
It's all about Moses

00:12:57.020 --> 00:12:59.020
Here it goes

00:12:59.020 --> 00:13:04.020
By faith Moses' parents hid him for three months after he was born

00:13:04.020 --> 00:13:08.020
because they saw he was no ordinary child

00:13:08.020 --> 00:13:11.020
Can you turn down the echo a little Matt?

00:13:11.020 --> 00:13:16.020
By faith Moses' parents hid him for three months after he was born

00:13:16.020 --> 00:13:19.020
because they saw he was no ordinary child

00:13:19.020 --> 00:13:22.020
and they were not afraid of the king's decree or edict

00:13:22.020 --> 00:13:29.020
By faith Moses, when he had grown up, refused to be known as the son of Pharaoh's daughter

00:13:29.020 --> 00:13:33.020
He chose to be mistreated along with the people of God

00:13:33.020 --> 00:13:37.020
rather than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a short time

00:13:37.020 --> 00:13:43.020
He regarded disgrace for the sake of Christ as of greater value than the treasures of Egypt

00:13:43.020 --> 00:13:46.020
because he was looking ahead to his reward

00:13:46.020 --> 00:13:51.020
By faith he left Egypt not fearing the king's anger

00:13:51.020 --> 00:13:55.020
He persevered because he saw him who is invisible

00:13:55.020 --> 00:13:59.020
By faith he kept the Passover and the sprinkling of the blood

00:13:59.020 --> 00:14:05.020
so that the destroyer of the firstborn would not touch the firstborn of Israel

00:14:05.020 --> 00:14:10.020
By faith the people passed through the Red Sea as on dry land

00:14:10.020 --> 00:14:13.020
But when the Egyptians tried to do so, they were drowned

00:14:13.020 --> 00:14:19.020
By faith the walls of Jericho fell after the people had marched around them for seven days

00:14:19.020 --> 00:14:23.020
That's what we'll talk about, just those six verses

00:14:23.020 --> 00:14:28.020
Guys, here's a different definition of faith

00:14:28.020 --> 00:14:34.020
Faith is my trusting childlike response

00:14:34.020 --> 00:14:38.020
Faith is my trusting childlike response

00:14:38.020 --> 00:14:48.020
to what God has already provided by grace

00:14:48.020 --> 00:14:53.020
Faith is my childlike

00:14:53.020 --> 00:15:01.020
Faith is my trusting childlike response

00:15:01.020 --> 00:15:16.020
to what God has already provided by grace

00:15:16.020 --> 00:15:23.020
Faith is my trusting childlike response

00:15:23.020 --> 00:15:26.020
to what God has already provided by grace

00:15:26.020 --> 00:15:34.020
There's nothing that I am asking for in faith that God has not already provided in grace

00:15:34.020 --> 00:15:42.020
There is nothing that I'm asking in faith that God has not already provided in grace

00:15:42.020 --> 00:15:47.020
So there's nothing I can ask for

00:15:47.020 --> 00:15:51.020
Nothing I can ask for that God hasn't already provided

00:15:51.020 --> 00:15:53.020
And here's the other thing

00:15:53.020 --> 00:15:56.020
Since he knows everything that I need

00:15:56.020 --> 00:15:59.020
before I was born or before the earth was created

00:15:59.020 --> 00:16:04.020
He's already made arrangements for everything I need to live this life in Vancouver

00:16:04.020 --> 00:16:08.020
Even that is provided for in his grace and in his foresight

00:16:08.020 --> 00:16:15.020
This is not faith is often seen as some kind of extraction

00:16:15.020 --> 00:16:18.020
where we've got to pull something out of God with faith

00:16:18.020 --> 00:16:21.020
But instead it is not extraction

00:16:21.020 --> 00:16:23.020
It is already provided in grace for us

00:16:23.020 --> 00:16:26.020
Romans 4.16 actually talks about that

00:16:26.020 --> 00:16:29.020
Romans 4.16 talks about that

00:16:29.020 --> 00:16:34.020
But it says, I've already provided things for you

00:16:34.020 --> 00:16:36.020
that you can access by faith

00:16:36.020 --> 00:16:38.020
and even that I provided in grace

00:16:38.020 --> 00:16:40.020
Just remember that

00:16:40.020 --> 00:16:43.020
So let's go to Hebrews 11, verse 23

00:16:43.020 --> 00:16:45.020
Hebrews 11, verse 23 where we start

00:16:45.020 --> 00:16:51.020
It says, by faith, Moses' parents hid him for three months after he was born

00:16:51.020 --> 00:16:54.020
because they saw he was not an ordinary child

00:16:54.020 --> 00:16:57.020
and they were not afraid or not overawed

00:16:57.020 --> 00:17:00.020
or not terrified by the king's decree

00:17:00.020 --> 00:17:02.020
Now they had reason to be terrified

00:17:02.020 --> 00:17:10.020
Because Pharaoh had just said, I'm going to slaughter all the children who were below a certain age

00:17:10.020 --> 00:17:12.020
and he was sending our people to slaughter

00:17:12.020 --> 00:17:16.020
To go against the king's decree meant not just the slaughter of the children

00:17:16.020 --> 00:17:18.020
It meant the slaughter of the parents too

00:17:18.020 --> 00:17:19.020
But they were not terrified

00:17:19.020 --> 00:17:22.020
So the first principle we want to draw from that verse

00:17:22.020 --> 00:17:28.020
is that faith is not intimidated by threat or perceived danger

00:17:28.020 --> 00:17:35.020
Faith is not intimidated by threat or perceived danger

00:17:35.020 --> 00:17:43.020
Faith is not intimidated by threat or perceived danger

00:17:43.020 --> 00:17:45.020
It's happened to the best of them

00:17:45.020 --> 00:17:50.020
In 1 Kings 19, verse 3, you see Elijah getting news

00:17:50.020 --> 00:17:54.020
that Jezebel was really upset because he had won this amazing victory

00:17:54.020 --> 00:17:56.020
victory of Mount Carmel

00:17:56.020 --> 00:17:58.020
And the Bible says in 1 Kings 19, 3

00:17:58.020 --> 00:18:02.020
that when Elijah saw what Jezebel was planning to do

00:18:02.020 --> 00:18:04.020
he got afraid and he fled

00:18:04.020 --> 00:18:12.020
The point being, guys, that faith is not intimidated by threats or perceived danger

00:18:12.020 --> 00:18:16.020
So whenever there's a sense of perceived danger or threat

00:18:16.020 --> 00:18:18.020
based on something that might happen tomorrow

00:18:18.020 --> 00:18:23.020
remember or be cognizant of the fact of two things, guys

00:18:23.020 --> 00:18:29.020
In 1, this is Jacob and this is heaven

00:18:29.020 --> 00:18:33.020
And strangely enough, don't ever forget that in Jacob

00:18:33.020 --> 00:18:41.020
lives the personal presence of Jesus by the Holy Spirit

00:18:41.020 --> 00:18:47.020
And at the same time, that same Jesus is also seated on the throne

00:18:47.020 --> 00:18:49.020
Never forget that

00:18:49.020 --> 00:18:55.020
It's the object, it's the source of our faith

00:18:55.020 --> 00:18:57.020
that two things are happening at once

00:18:57.020 --> 00:19:04.020
At once, the personal presence of Jesus Christ is in Jacob by the Holy Spirit

00:19:04.020 --> 00:19:10.020
The personal presence of Jesus Christ is in Jacob by the Holy Spirit

00:19:10.020 --> 00:19:15.020
And at the same time, that same Jesus is also seated on the throne

00:19:15.020 --> 00:19:19.020
the king of the universe which cannot contain him

00:19:19.020 --> 00:19:22.020
the earth being his footstool at once

00:19:22.020 --> 00:19:30.020
Faith is anchored in the simple statement that I will not leave you, I am with you

00:19:30.020 --> 00:19:34.020
Start there, if I don't start there, faith can't move

00:19:34.020 --> 00:19:41.020
All perceived danger, every threat has to be first met

00:19:41.020 --> 00:19:47.020
And remember, with this recognition that the same Christ who rules the entire universe

00:19:47.020 --> 00:19:51.020
as seated on the throne controlling everything that happens

00:19:51.020 --> 00:19:54.020
in the life of everything in the universe

00:19:54.020 --> 00:19:59.020
is the same Christ who is personally present in this human body

00:19:59.020 --> 00:20:04.020
And it is anchored in the simple statement that Jacob, I am with you

00:20:04.020 --> 00:20:08.020
Start there

00:20:11.020 --> 00:20:16.020
Fear actually is my heart's response

00:20:16.020 --> 00:20:19.020
when in come into agreement with the intimidation of the devil

00:20:19.020 --> 00:20:22.020
Fear is actually my heart's response

00:20:22.020 --> 00:20:25.020
when I come into agreement with the intimidation of the devil

00:20:25.020 --> 00:20:28.020
Fear is my heart's response

00:20:28.020 --> 00:20:33.020
when I come into agreement with the intimidation of the devil

00:20:33.020 --> 00:20:35.020
That's what fear is

00:20:35.020 --> 00:20:38.020
When I agree with the intimidation that is being

00:20:38.020 --> 00:20:42.460
and that is being thrown upon me by the enemy.

00:20:42.460 --> 00:20:45.540
That's when fear happens.

00:20:45.540 --> 00:20:48.020
And so one of the best things to do at times of fear

00:20:48.020 --> 00:20:51.020
is to quickly go recognize this, and after this,

00:20:51.020 --> 00:20:54.300
go ask God for hope.

00:20:54.300 --> 00:20:57.500
Romans 5.5 says, the Holy Spirit brings hope to me.

00:20:57.500 --> 00:21:00.700
So when I'm afraid, the first thing I do is go and ask God,

00:21:00.700 --> 00:21:02.060
Father, I'm afraid.

00:21:02.060 --> 00:21:02.940
I'm scared.

00:21:02.940 --> 00:21:04.660
These things aren't working out.

00:21:04.660 --> 00:21:07.460
Can you, through your word and through the witness

00:21:07.460 --> 00:21:09.900
of the Holy Spirit, give me hope?

00:21:09.900 --> 00:21:12.740
Because hope fuels endurance.

00:21:12.740 --> 00:21:15.220
Hope fuels endurance.

00:21:15.220 --> 00:21:19.300
I will not endure under pressure if there is no hope.

00:21:19.300 --> 00:21:22.980
Why would I not pack it in if there is no hope?

00:21:22.980 --> 00:21:28.140
Why would I not go with the flow if there is no hope?

00:21:28.140 --> 00:21:31.020
Hope fuels endurance.

00:21:31.020 --> 00:21:35.260
So in darkness, in the storm, in the midst of fear,

00:21:35.300 --> 00:21:37.420
ask the Holy Spirit to bring hope,

00:21:37.420 --> 00:21:40.260
because Romans 5.5 clearly indicates

00:21:40.260 --> 00:21:44.300
that he brings hope to those that love God,

00:21:44.300 --> 00:21:46.500
fills their hearts with hope, and he brings it

00:21:46.500 --> 00:21:50.100
through the word and through his witness.

00:21:50.100 --> 00:21:51.780
It's the only way to endure.

00:21:51.780 --> 00:21:53.060
Any questions before we move on?

00:22:03.620 --> 00:22:04.980
OK.

00:22:04.980 --> 00:22:08.340
Next verse says, aroused by faith,

00:22:08.340 --> 00:22:12.460
Moses regarded disgrace for the sake of Christ

00:22:12.460 --> 00:22:16.020
as of greater value than the treasures of Egypt

00:22:16.020 --> 00:22:18.900
because he was looking ahead to his reward.

00:22:18.900 --> 00:22:24.900
Aroused by faith or by faith, Moses, when he had grown up,

00:22:24.900 --> 00:22:27.300
refused to be known as the son of Pharaoh's daughter.

00:22:27.300 --> 00:22:29.980
He chose to be mistreated along with the people of God

00:22:29.980 --> 00:22:31.860
rather than to enjoy the pleasures of sin

00:22:31.860 --> 00:22:32.980
for a short time.

00:22:32.980 --> 00:22:35.540
He regarded disgrace for the sake of Christ

00:22:35.540 --> 00:22:38.580
as of greater value than the treasures of Egypt

00:22:38.580 --> 00:22:41.500
because he was looking ahead to his reward.

00:22:41.500 --> 00:22:44.220
OK?

00:22:44.220 --> 00:22:47.540
Faith is not held captive by feelings.

00:22:47.540 --> 00:22:50.500
Faith is not held captive by feelings.

00:22:50.500 --> 00:22:52.980
One of the problems we Christians have when it comes

00:22:52.980 --> 00:22:56.020
to faith is we are hypnotized by feelings.

00:22:56.020 --> 00:22:59.340
We are hypnotized by feelings.

00:22:59.340 --> 00:23:01.380
You might think hypnosis doesn't work,

00:23:01.380 --> 00:23:05.700
but when it comes to feelings, feelings hypnotize believers.

00:23:05.700 --> 00:23:07.620
Where you're stuck with the feeling

00:23:07.620 --> 00:23:13.140
and your feeling does not allow you to forge forward in faith.

00:23:13.140 --> 00:23:14.140
Can't afford it, guys.

00:23:17.620 --> 00:23:19.300
Faith is not held captive by feelings.

00:23:19.300 --> 00:23:21.460
Faith does not covet.

00:23:21.460 --> 00:23:23.980
Faith does not seek instant gratification.

00:23:23.980 --> 00:23:26.220
Faith does not seek instant pleasure.

00:23:26.220 --> 00:23:28.460
Moses didn't.

00:23:28.460 --> 00:23:31.140
Says, by faith he chose not to.

00:23:31.140 --> 00:23:32.020
Guys, here's the thing.

00:23:32.020 --> 00:23:35.900
Romans 1.17 says that the just shall live by faith

00:23:35.900 --> 00:23:37.820
or the righteous shall live by faith.

00:23:37.820 --> 00:23:40.980
Sometimes when your faith is not shaken, what the enemy then

00:23:40.980 --> 00:23:47.100
does is he tries to undo or undermine your righteousness.

00:23:47.100 --> 00:23:52.220
Sometimes when your faith is solid and it cannot be shaken,

00:23:52.220 --> 00:23:55.660
Satan tries to undermine your right ways of living

00:23:55.660 --> 00:23:56.460
or your righteousness.

00:23:56.460 --> 00:23:57.380
How does he do that?

00:23:57.380 --> 00:23:58.660
He provokes anger.

00:23:58.660 --> 00:23:59.780
He provokes sin.

00:23:59.780 --> 00:24:00.940
He provokes deceit.

00:24:00.940 --> 00:24:02.260
He provokes deception.

00:24:02.260 --> 00:24:03.420
He provokes shame.

00:24:03.420 --> 00:24:06.700
He provokes revenge.

00:24:06.700 --> 00:24:10.860
What then happens is the righteous shall live by faith.

00:24:10.860 --> 00:24:12.660
If faith cannot be shaken, why not attack

00:24:12.660 --> 00:24:14.020
Jacob's righteousness?

00:24:14.020 --> 00:24:16.060
Because once Jacob's righteousness is attacked,

00:24:16.060 --> 00:24:18.380
now he's out of place with God and is

00:24:18.380 --> 00:24:20.820
not able to walk with the same degree of faith

00:24:20.820 --> 00:24:23.300
as he could have otherwise walked.

00:24:23.300 --> 00:24:26.420
It's a common ploy of the enemy.

00:24:26.420 --> 00:24:28.020
Samson had faith.

00:24:28.020 --> 00:24:29.740
Samson had tremendous faith.

00:24:29.740 --> 00:24:30.740
So do what?

00:24:30.740 --> 00:24:32.180
Attack his righteousness.

00:24:32.180 --> 00:24:33.420
A boy would be successful.

00:24:37.500 --> 00:24:40.140
Be aware of that.

00:24:40.140 --> 00:24:41.820
The Bible says, do not be overcome by evil,

00:24:41.820 --> 00:24:43.460
but overcome evil with.

00:24:43.460 --> 00:24:44.420
Good.

00:24:44.420 --> 00:24:46.820
That's so in Romans 12.

00:24:46.820 --> 00:24:48.620
When you're walking a pathway of faith,

00:24:48.620 --> 00:24:50.260
know that there'll be provocations.

00:24:50.260 --> 00:24:53.740
And when provocations come, choose not to lose your temper.

00:24:53.740 --> 00:24:55.460
Choose not to avenge.

00:24:55.460 --> 00:24:56.980
Choose not to lie.

00:24:56.980 --> 00:25:00.820
Choose not to walk in ways that are being done unto you.

00:25:00.820 --> 00:25:02.140
Moses was mistreated.

00:25:02.140 --> 00:25:04.860
And the Bible says, even though he was mistreated,

00:25:04.860 --> 00:25:07.660
he chose not to avenge.

00:25:07.660 --> 00:25:10.620
Even though he was facing disgrace,

00:25:10.620 --> 00:25:14.260
he chose not to be party with those that can give him

00:25:14.260 --> 00:25:15.500
position.

00:25:15.500 --> 00:25:18.660
This doesn't sit well with the prosperity, faith, gospel

00:25:18.660 --> 00:25:20.100
message.

00:25:20.100 --> 00:25:25.460
There you always want position, gratification, pleasure,

00:25:25.460 --> 00:25:26.100
increase.

00:25:26.100 --> 00:25:27.820
And here is exactly the opposite.

00:25:27.820 --> 00:25:29.180
Moses didn't want any of it.

00:25:36.340 --> 00:25:37.020
And remember this.

00:25:37.020 --> 00:25:41.700
God very clearly says, hey, Jacob, I will reward you

00:25:41.700 --> 00:25:46.140
if you seek my faith when times are dark.

00:25:46.140 --> 00:25:48.100
I will reward you.

00:25:48.100 --> 00:25:50.820
Not if you seek an answer, if you seek a solution,

00:25:50.820 --> 00:25:52.740
but if you seek my faith.

00:25:52.740 --> 00:25:54.740
I will reward you.

00:25:54.740 --> 00:25:59.060
Hebrews 11.6 or 11.5 says that, he who comes to God must

00:25:59.060 --> 00:26:02.140
know that he's a rewarder of those that seek him

00:26:02.140 --> 00:26:03.380
diligently.

00:26:03.380 --> 00:26:06.860
Faith that does not expect to be rewarded by God

00:26:06.860 --> 00:26:10.060
is unbiblical faith.

00:26:10.060 --> 00:26:16.100
Faith that does not expect to be rewarded by a faithful God

00:26:16.100 --> 00:26:17.580
is not biblical faith.

00:26:17.580 --> 00:26:18.580
Any questions?

00:26:42.700 --> 00:26:46.300
In Hebrews 11, it says, anyone who comes to God must believe

00:26:46.300 --> 00:26:50.540
that he exists and must know that he rewards those that

00:26:50.540 --> 00:26:52.500
seek him diligently.

00:26:52.500 --> 00:26:56.900
Therefore, in any situation as a child seeks its parent,

00:26:56.900 --> 00:27:01.220
I need to seek his faith and seek what he has for me

00:27:01.220 --> 00:27:02.620
in that given situation.

00:27:02.620 --> 00:27:06.940
And when I do, as every child expects the parent to reward it

00:27:06.940 --> 00:27:11.620
for seeking the parent, so God says, I will reward you.

00:27:11.620 --> 00:27:14.420
Therefore, a child who goes to the parent for help,

00:27:14.420 --> 00:27:18.380
not expecting anything, is not a child that actually trusts

00:27:18.380 --> 00:27:20.420
or has a relationship with the parent.

00:27:20.420 --> 00:27:22.980
That child is an orphan and goes to anybody.

00:27:31.140 --> 00:27:32.620
Questions?

00:27:37.140 --> 00:27:39.260
Next line.

00:27:39.260 --> 00:27:43.820
By faith, he left Egypt, not fearing the king's anger.

00:27:43.820 --> 00:27:47.540
He persevered because he saw him who is invisible.

00:27:47.540 --> 00:27:51.340
By faith, he left Egypt, not fearing the king's anger.

00:27:53.940 --> 00:27:59.300
And he persevered because he saw him who is invisible.

00:27:59.300 --> 00:28:02.100
Guys, for faith to be successful,

00:28:02.100 --> 00:28:07.140
shut the eye of the mind and open the eye of the spirit.

00:28:07.140 --> 00:28:13.300
For faith to be successful, or let's put it this way,

00:28:14.060 --> 00:28:18.660
faith shuts the eye of the mind and opens the eye of the spirit

00:28:18.660 --> 00:28:22.180
which allows you to see him who is invisible.

00:28:22.180 --> 00:28:27.660
I'll explain it.

00:28:31.180 --> 00:28:33.180
One last line.

00:28:34.140 --> 00:28:37.940
Faith shuts the eye of the mind and opens the eye of the spirit

00:28:37.940 --> 00:28:42.020
so that you see him who is invisible.

00:28:42.020 --> 00:28:49.020
We try to approach things with God, seeing things as our mind perceives.

00:28:49.020 --> 00:28:51.020
But everything about God is invisible.

00:28:51.020 --> 00:28:55.020
And my spirit can recognize it, but my mind will not compute it.

00:28:55.020 --> 00:28:59.020
It is impossible to understand God using my mind.

00:28:59.020 --> 00:29:03.020
It is a curse of mankind that we have sometimes grown up in homes

00:29:03.020 --> 00:29:10.020
where the mind was given so much value that today people find it difficult to connect with God.

00:29:10.020 --> 00:29:15.020
When the Bible says we are spirit beings in a body given a mind to process truths.

00:29:15.020 --> 00:29:20.020
And so, faith shuts the eye of the mind.

00:29:20.020 --> 00:29:26.020
Meaning, it approaches things not with a, this is what I see, this is what I hear, this is what I feel,

00:29:26.020 --> 00:29:29.020
this is what I sense, this is what I touch, this is what I smell.

00:29:29.020 --> 00:29:31.020
It does not approach things like that.

00:29:31.020 --> 00:29:34.020
It shuts the eye of the mind and opens the eye of the spirit.

00:29:34.020 --> 00:29:38.020
So my spirit sees that which is invisible, as in God himself.

00:29:38.020 --> 00:29:40.020
God connects first to the spirit.

00:29:41.020 --> 00:29:43.020
God connects first to the spirit.

00:29:45.020 --> 00:29:52.020
It is amazing how I have had occasion to be with a couple of babies over the last couple of years.

00:29:52.020 --> 00:29:56.020
And they make odd sounds and you make odd sounds back.

00:29:56.020 --> 00:30:02.020
And then you find the parents and the kids make odd sounds and the parents know what the kid wants.

00:30:03.020 --> 00:30:07.020
Those sounds make no sense to you, but they make complete sense to the parents.

00:30:08.020 --> 00:30:10.020
Don't know how it works.

00:30:10.020 --> 00:30:17.020
But a parent understands something about the kid that is internal that you and I can't understand through external words.

00:30:19.020 --> 00:30:25.020
It is, I love the fact that whenever things go seriously wrong and everything in me is screaming,

00:30:25.020 --> 00:30:30.020
do this, do this, do this, Google this, Google this, Google this, Wikipedia this, Wikipedia this, Wikipedia this,

00:30:30.020 --> 00:30:33.020
and ask for the experts, everything is screaming back.

00:30:33.020 --> 00:30:38.020
And then there is a place within where the spirit begins to see what God wants.

00:30:38.020 --> 00:30:47.020
And the spirit begins to see what God wants through the knowledge of the word, through the leading of the spirit.

00:30:47.020 --> 00:30:50.020
This is the way you see what God wants.

00:30:50.020 --> 00:30:58.020
You see the invisible through the visible word and you see the invisible through the tangible presence of the Holy Spirit in you,

00:30:58.020 --> 00:31:00.020
where he leads you, where he directs you.

00:31:01.020 --> 00:31:08.020
And if I don't follow that, I will live my entire life here on earth as an earthbound Christian,

00:31:08.020 --> 00:31:14.020
who never experiences God here, but will only experience God in heaven.

00:31:15.020 --> 00:31:19.020
If that were the case, accept Jesus Christ just before you die.

00:31:19.020 --> 00:31:21.020
Hopefully you will get it right.

00:31:23.020 --> 00:31:27.020
What a shame it would be if we lived here without this experience, guys.

00:31:31.020 --> 00:31:35.020
I know this, guys, faith will always bring out our true colors.

00:31:35.020 --> 00:31:39.020
Not faith, pressure will always bring out our true colors.

00:31:39.020 --> 00:31:43.020
James chapter 1, verse 2, in the message puts it this way,

00:31:43.020 --> 00:31:49.020
you know that under pressure your faith life is forced into the open and shows its true colors.

00:31:49.020 --> 00:31:57.020
You know that under pressure your faith life is forced into the open and shows its true colors.

00:31:57.020 --> 00:32:00.020
So don't try to get out of anything prematurely.

00:32:00.020 --> 00:32:04.020
Let faith do its work so that you become mature.

00:32:04.020 --> 00:32:05.020
Crazy!

00:32:06.020 --> 00:32:12.020
God is saying, hey, Jacob, I want you to know that there is no other way you can grow other than through this process of faith.

00:32:12.020 --> 00:32:16.020
There is no other way you can grow other than through the process of faith.

00:32:16.020 --> 00:32:20.020
There is no other way you can grow other than through the process of faith.

00:32:20.020 --> 00:32:22.020
There is no growth.

00:32:22.020 --> 00:32:26.020
Faith comes by hearing, growth comes by doing what you are told.

00:32:27.020 --> 00:32:32.020
Faith comes by hearing what you are told, growth comes by doing what you are told.

00:32:32.020 --> 00:32:35.020
There is no other way around it.

00:32:39.020 --> 00:32:45.020
How do we get out prematurely of the process of faith?

00:32:45.020 --> 00:32:47.020
We sleep with three people.

00:32:47.020 --> 00:32:49.020
One, we sleep with Hagar.

00:32:49.020 --> 00:32:54.020
Two, we sleep with Delilah.

00:32:55.020 --> 00:32:59.020
And three, we sleep with Bathsheba.

00:32:59.020 --> 00:33:02.020
Three women you should keep away from.

00:33:02.020 --> 00:33:05.020
Hagar is man-made solution.

00:33:08.020 --> 00:33:15.020
Delilah is passive faith, languishing in passive faith.

00:33:15.020 --> 00:33:18.020
Man, she is so into Christians.

00:33:18.020 --> 00:33:22.020
And Bathsheba is sin or disobedience.

00:33:25.020 --> 00:33:28.020
Three people you should avoid if you want to walk in faith.

00:33:28.020 --> 00:33:31.020
The first one is Hagar, man-made solutions.

00:33:31.020 --> 00:33:33.020
Abraham learned it the hard way.

00:33:33.020 --> 00:33:36.020
The second one is Delilah.

00:33:36.020 --> 00:33:42.020
Good old Samson would go, lay his head and his flowing locks on her lap.

00:33:42.020 --> 00:33:47.020
In passive faith thing, yeah, spin it on a wheel and I'll lose my strength.

00:33:47.020 --> 00:33:49.020
He just played a fool with his faith.

00:33:49.020 --> 00:33:52.020
This was a man who was chosen to deliver Israel.

00:33:52.020 --> 00:33:53.020
Passive faith.

00:33:53.020 --> 00:33:58.020
And the third one is Bathsheba, who David sinned with.

00:33:58.020 --> 00:34:03.020
Any of these methods will undo our faith, guys.

00:34:03.020 --> 00:34:05.020
Undoes our faith.

00:34:09.020 --> 00:34:14.020
This is how we prematurely get out of the process that God wants to take us through.

00:34:14.020 --> 00:34:18.020
With faith so that we come out with greater growth, what do we do?

00:34:18.020 --> 00:34:20.020
We often resort to man-made solutions.

00:34:20.020 --> 00:34:23.020
Or we go into this mode called passive faith.

00:34:23.020 --> 00:34:29.020
Sometimes the Bible does say that you cannot inherit anything without faith and patience.

00:34:29.020 --> 00:34:37.020
The Bible says in Hebrews 6, verse 12, you can only inherit things, inherit promises through faith and patience.

00:34:37.020 --> 00:34:40.020
You can only inherit promises through faith and patience.

00:34:40.020 --> 00:34:45.020
But sometimes, guys, laziness can masquerade as patience.

00:34:45.020 --> 00:34:51.020
Sometimes laziness or sluggishness can masquerade as patience.

00:34:51.020 --> 00:34:54.020
Where you're not doing anything, it's passive.

00:34:54.020 --> 00:34:56.020
It's like, yeah, I'm waiting in faith.

00:34:56.020 --> 00:34:57.020
And what does that look like?

00:34:57.020 --> 00:34:58.020
It looks like this.

00:34:58.020 --> 00:35:05.020
Sometimes sluggishness or laziness masquerades as patience when it's not.

00:35:05.020 --> 00:35:07.020
How do you deal with it then?

00:35:07.020 --> 00:35:08.020
How do you solve it?

00:35:08.020 --> 00:35:12.020
Here's a very simple way to solve laziness, sluggishness, passivity.

00:35:12.020 --> 00:35:14.020
Hang out with passionate people.

00:35:14.020 --> 00:35:18.020
You hang out with passionate people, mediocrity will be exposed.

00:35:18.020 --> 00:35:21.020
Whenever passion shows up, mediocrity is exposed.

00:35:21.020 --> 00:35:24.020
Whenever passion shows up, mediocrity is exposed.

00:35:24.020 --> 00:35:28.020
Doesn't matter whether it's a software program, whether it's hockey.

00:35:28.020 --> 00:35:30.020
It does not matter.

00:35:30.020 --> 00:35:32.020
Or whether it's Christian life.

00:35:32.020 --> 00:35:36.020
Passion always exposes mediocrity.

00:35:36.020 --> 00:35:39.020
Hang out with passionate people.

00:35:39.020 --> 00:35:42.020
And in that area, your laziness will be exposed.

00:35:42.020 --> 00:35:47.020
And your laziness will be affected and changed.

00:35:51.020 --> 00:35:52.020
Want to increase in faith?

00:35:52.020 --> 00:35:54.020
Do this.

00:35:54.020 --> 00:35:56.020
Hunger for it.

00:35:56.020 --> 00:36:01.020
Because there's not going to be any growth till we get to this place, guys.

00:36:05.020 --> 00:36:07.020
Any questions?

00:36:07.020 --> 00:36:09.020
Any questions?

00:36:10.020 --> 00:36:12.020
Any questions?

00:36:15.020 --> 00:36:16.020
Yeah.

00:36:21.020 --> 00:36:23.020
Hebrew 612.

00:36:23.020 --> 00:36:25.020
How do you approach fatherhood?

00:36:25.020 --> 00:36:30.020
You mentioned before that the people with our mission go first.

00:36:30.020 --> 00:36:36.020
I tell you, even if you don't, how do you approach fatherhood?

00:36:36.020 --> 00:36:38.020
Yeah.

00:36:38.020 --> 00:36:43.020
A child first approaches his father and gets a solution.

00:36:43.020 --> 00:36:45.020
A child is not going to its solution giver.

00:36:45.020 --> 00:36:48.020
A child is going to its father.

00:36:48.020 --> 00:36:51.020
It's a fine distinction, but it is a distinction.

00:36:51.020 --> 00:36:54.020
Here's the difference, guys.

00:36:54.020 --> 00:36:58.020
Why do people go to different gods to seek answers?

00:36:58.020 --> 00:37:00.020
They're hoping one of the gods will give them an answer.

00:37:00.020 --> 00:37:01.020
The world does this.

00:37:01.020 --> 00:37:06.020
You go to temples, you go to mosques, you go to gurudwaras, you go somewhere to find an answer.

00:37:06.020 --> 00:37:10.020
Or you go to a crystal ball or a psychic because you want an answer.

00:37:10.020 --> 00:37:12.020
Because they give you answers.

00:37:12.020 --> 00:37:14.020
We're not going to an answer.

00:37:14.020 --> 00:37:18.020
We're going to God himself who is my father in whom lies every solution.

00:37:18.020 --> 00:37:22.020
So my running is to my father, not to my solution giver.

00:37:22.020 --> 00:37:26.020
My father happens to have the solution.

00:37:26.020 --> 00:37:31.020
If your wife is your dinner provider, she will find out at some point.

00:37:31.020 --> 00:37:36.020
But if your wife is the one you love, she will also provide you dinner.

00:37:36.020 --> 00:37:43.020
Or sometimes husbands provide dinner like Elmer does every so often.

00:37:43.020 --> 00:37:47.020
Like Kamal does every so often.

00:37:47.020 --> 00:37:51.020
Like Matt does every so often.

00:37:51.020 --> 00:37:53.020
Yeah.

00:37:53.020 --> 00:38:04.020
If God is silent, I never take it as a reflection of anything else.

00:38:04.020 --> 00:38:07.020
So I'll come back tomorrow and ask you more.

00:38:07.020 --> 00:38:18.020
And as you age with him, the ageless one, you will find that you are no longer in a hurry

00:38:18.020 --> 00:38:26.020
because you've gotten to know that here is someone who has your best interest and whose timing is perfect.

00:38:26.020 --> 00:38:34.020
And because of that, you begin to come to a place where it doesn't, you're in no hurry.

00:38:34.020 --> 00:38:38.020
You're in no hurry.

00:38:38.020 --> 00:38:41.020
You're in no hurry.

00:38:41.020 --> 00:38:45.020
You mess up other people's lives in the bargain, but you're in no hurry.

00:38:45.020 --> 00:38:51.020
Because others want an answer and you can't give them an answer.

00:38:51.020 --> 00:38:56.020
But you're in no hurry because you know his timing is perfect and he never holds back.

00:38:56.020 --> 00:39:02.020
He is not like our husbands, our wives, our mothers, our fathers, our brothers, our sisters,

00:39:02.020 --> 00:39:08.020
and our bosses who hold back when things are not going well.

00:39:08.020 --> 00:39:11.020
You know that silent treatment thing?

00:39:11.020 --> 00:39:12.020
God ain't like that.

00:39:12.020 --> 00:39:19.020
He's got no thing called silent treatment when it comes to his children.

00:39:19.020 --> 00:39:20.020
Thank God, eh?

00:39:20.020 --> 00:39:24.020
Because if he tried the silent treatment, he'd have to do that with me 24-7, man,

00:39:24.020 --> 00:39:27.020
for little thing that I miss here, little thing that I miss there.

00:39:27.020 --> 00:39:31.020
Thank God he doesn't do that.

00:39:31.020 --> 00:39:36.020
So if he's silent, you talk.

00:39:36.020 --> 00:39:41.020
You talk.

00:39:41.020 --> 00:39:51.020
Sometimes he doesn't give me an answer immediately.

00:39:51.020 --> 00:39:56.020
And at that time, it could be because I'm not hearing, but sometimes I know I'm hearing

00:39:56.020 --> 00:39:57.020
and he still ain't saying nothing.

00:39:57.020 --> 00:40:02.020
And I say to him, all right, I'll ask you again later.

00:40:02.020 --> 00:40:07.020
It's like Ryan, when he tugs your shirt, daddy, where's that inheritance of mine?

00:40:07.020 --> 00:40:08.020
Where's the million dollars?

00:40:08.020 --> 00:40:13.020
Where's the million dollars?

00:40:13.020 --> 00:40:19.020
Thank God God's name is not Marcus.

00:40:19.020 --> 00:40:20.020
Yeah, it's not today, maybe tomorrow.

00:40:20.020 --> 00:40:22.020
Ryan, keep trying, eh?

00:40:22.020 --> 00:40:23.020
Million dollars, man.

00:40:23.020 --> 00:40:26.020
By the way, types is usually called 10%.

00:40:26.020 --> 00:40:28.020
Yeah, that's so easy.

00:40:28.020 --> 00:40:33.020
Okay.

00:40:33.020 --> 00:40:37.020
Guys, endure confidently, eh?

00:40:37.020 --> 00:40:39.020
Endure confidently.

00:40:39.020 --> 00:40:41.020
Endurance is not resignation.

00:40:41.020 --> 00:40:46.020
Faith, sometimes Christians talk about faith as in, oh, yes, I'm enduring.

00:40:46.020 --> 00:40:51.020
But that endurance is not, that endurance is not...

00:40:51.020 --> 00:40:53.020
Are you guys getting this fan at all?

00:40:53.020 --> 00:40:54.020
Okay.

00:40:54.020 --> 00:40:58.020
Mark will just suffer through it.

00:40:58.020 --> 00:41:01.020
Or he'll just move.

00:41:01.020 --> 00:41:07.020
Or Mark and Rhonda will both move because they are sacrificial people who prefer the benefit of others to theirs.

00:41:07.020 --> 00:41:11.020
So guys, endure confidently.

00:41:11.020 --> 00:41:14.020
Because endurance that is not confident is resignation.

00:41:14.020 --> 00:41:18.020
And faith has nothing to do with resignation.

00:41:18.020 --> 00:41:20.020
Faith doesn't resign.

00:41:20.020 --> 00:41:22.020
Hebrews 10.35 puts it this way.

00:41:22.020 --> 00:41:23.020
I love it.

00:41:23.020 --> 00:41:25.020
I learned that as a child, the song.

00:41:25.020 --> 00:41:27.020
No, I wasn't a child.

00:41:27.020 --> 00:41:30.020
I only became a Christian when I was 20-something.

00:41:30.020 --> 00:41:37.020
It says, Hebrews 10.35, do not cast away your confidence.

00:41:37.020 --> 00:41:40.020
Do not cast away your confidence.

00:41:40.020 --> 00:41:47.020
For great is your reward and you will inherit the promise if you endure with patience and with faith.

00:41:47.020 --> 00:41:49.020
Hebrews 10.35.

00:41:49.020 --> 00:41:51.020
Don't cast away your confidence.

00:41:51.020 --> 00:41:53.020
Endure confidently.

00:41:53.020 --> 00:41:57.020
Because the sound from heaven always comes suddenly.

00:41:57.020 --> 00:42:01.020
The sound from heaven always comes suddenly.

00:42:01.020 --> 00:42:04.020
As in Acts chapter 2, you see that in verse 2.

00:42:04.020 --> 00:42:06.020
And they were all gathered in the upper room.

00:42:06.020 --> 00:42:11.020
Because Jesus had said, go wait in Jerusalem till I pour out my Holy Spirit.

00:42:11.020 --> 00:42:13.020
And now they've been there for some time.

00:42:13.020 --> 00:42:18.020
And suddenly Acts chapter 2, verse 2 says, and suddenly they heard a sound from heaven.

00:42:18.020 --> 00:42:20.020
It might be just around the corner, guys.

00:42:20.020 --> 00:42:22.020
Just around the corner.

00:42:22.020 --> 00:42:25.020
Endure confidently.

00:42:25.020 --> 00:42:27.020
What does that mean?

00:42:27.020 --> 00:42:29.020
Maybe six years.

00:42:29.020 --> 00:42:31.020
What does that mean?

00:42:31.020 --> 00:42:33.020
Maybe six minutes.

00:42:33.020 --> 00:42:34.020
What does that mean?

00:42:34.020 --> 00:42:36.020
Maybe six seconds.

00:42:36.020 --> 00:42:39.020
Endure confidently.

00:42:39.020 --> 00:42:47.020
While you're enduring, don't think that the only thing you're going to do is sit here and wait for that guy to come along.

00:42:47.020 --> 00:42:49.020
To marry you six years from now.

00:42:49.020 --> 00:42:53.020
There's so much else to do, man.

00:42:53.020 --> 00:42:56.020
I think I read someone's mail.

00:42:56.020 --> 00:43:02.020
Anyways.

00:43:02.020 --> 00:43:07.020
Any questions before we go on?

00:43:07.020 --> 00:43:09.020
Okay.

00:43:09.020 --> 00:43:10.020
Next one.

00:43:10.020 --> 00:43:11.020
Next one.

00:43:11.020 --> 00:43:19.020
By faith he kept the Passover and the application of blood so that the destroyer of the firstborn would not touch the firstborn of Israel.

00:43:19.020 --> 00:43:27.020
By faith he kept the Passover and the application of blood so that the destroyer of the firstborn would not touch the firstborn of Israel.

00:43:27.020 --> 00:43:32.020
Guys, some of us have to embrace our responsibility just as Moses did.

00:43:32.020 --> 00:43:33.020
Imagine what Moses is doing.

00:43:33.020 --> 00:43:34.020
He's heard.

00:43:34.020 --> 00:43:36.020
Look at what he's heard.

00:43:36.020 --> 00:43:37.020
Hey, Moses.

00:43:37.020 --> 00:43:38.020
This is me, God.

00:43:38.020 --> 00:43:39.020
Yes, God.

00:43:39.020 --> 00:43:40.020
I want you to cut a lamb.

00:43:40.020 --> 00:43:41.020
Yes, God.

00:43:41.020 --> 00:43:42.020
And then take the blood.

00:43:42.020 --> 00:43:43.020
Yep.

00:43:43.020 --> 00:43:47.020
And then go put it on the dopo this way and this way and this way.

00:43:47.020 --> 00:43:48.020
Sure.

00:43:48.020 --> 00:43:49.020
And what's that going to do a lot?

00:43:49.020 --> 00:43:57.020
Oh, there's an angel that's going to come and he's going to come with a sword and start just killing every one of the firstborns in Egypt.

00:43:57.020 --> 00:43:59.020
And what will this blood do?

00:43:59.020 --> 00:44:03.020
The moment this angel sees this blood, it will not enter your house.

00:44:03.020 --> 00:44:07.020
And don't for a moment think that this angel was necessarily a God angel.

00:44:07.020 --> 00:44:10.020
That's what our minds think when we say the word angel.

00:44:10.020 --> 00:44:14.020
Psalm 78 tells us differently, but we won't go there today.

00:44:14.020 --> 00:44:20.020
The point being, Moses takes the blood of some bulls and goats and puts it on every door.

00:44:20.020 --> 00:44:26.020
And he is telling Israel, listen, I heard God and God is saying, put some blood on your dopo.

00:44:26.020 --> 00:44:29.020
And tonight all the firstborns of Egypt are going to die.

00:44:29.020 --> 00:44:30.020
But you don't have to worry.

00:44:30.020 --> 00:44:32.020
You'll be safe.

00:44:32.020 --> 00:44:36.020
He's responsible now for almost a million people.

00:44:39.020 --> 00:44:41.020
And he has the audacity to say this.

00:44:41.020 --> 00:44:53.020
But the Bible says by faith, he instituted the Passover so that the destroyer who went and killed every firstborn in Egypt did not touch the firstborn of Israel.

00:44:53.020 --> 00:44:55.020
Guys, embrace your responsibilities.

00:44:55.020 --> 00:44:58.020
Husbands, embrace your responsibilities.

00:44:58.020 --> 00:45:00.020
Pastors, embrace your responsibilities.

00:45:00.020 --> 00:45:02.020
Mothers, embrace your responsibility.

00:45:02.020 --> 00:45:13.020
Because as you hear, believe, act and speak, you will find that you suddenly are keeping under guard, under a canopy, those that are in your charge.

00:45:13.020 --> 00:45:17.020
Grandmothers and grandfathers, embrace your responsibility.

00:45:19.020 --> 00:45:20.020
We have the privilege.

00:45:20.020 --> 00:45:24.020
Older brothers, embrace your responsibility.

00:45:24.020 --> 00:45:26.020
For the younger ones, even though they sometimes don't understand.

00:45:26.020 --> 00:45:29.020
And I'm not talking about anybody in this room.

00:45:30.020 --> 00:45:39.020
Embrace your responsibility because just as Moses saw, believed, spoke and acted and saved an entire nation.

00:45:39.020 --> 00:45:45.020
So when you install God's desires and will through faith, it becomes a wall.

00:45:45.020 --> 00:45:50.020
It becomes a shield that protects and delivers those in your charge.

00:45:50.020 --> 00:45:52.020
Your faith keeps them.

00:45:52.020 --> 00:45:53.020
Hallelujah.

00:45:53.020 --> 00:45:55.020
I don't say that too often.

00:45:55.020 --> 00:45:58.020
Feeling particularly Pentecostal today.

00:46:01.020 --> 00:46:05.020
My faith keeps others placed in my charge.

00:46:07.020 --> 00:46:09.020
This is very biblical.

00:46:09.020 --> 00:46:11.020
You see that with Elisha.

00:46:11.020 --> 00:46:15.020
So there are some Syrians that are attacking Israel.

00:46:15.020 --> 00:46:16.020
What does he do?

00:46:16.020 --> 00:46:17.020
He says to his servant, hey, don't worry.

00:46:17.020 --> 00:46:19.020
There are more for us than against us.

00:46:19.020 --> 00:46:23.020
And he opens the eyes of the servant in chapter, 2 Kings, chapter 6.

00:46:23.020 --> 00:46:30.020
And he sees the chariots of heaven, chariots of the horsemen of Israel on the top of the trees.

00:46:30.020 --> 00:46:33.020
And he delivers Israel.

00:46:33.020 --> 00:46:35.020
And the Syrians go blind.

00:46:35.020 --> 00:46:37.020
Another time, 2 Kings, chapter 2.

00:46:37.020 --> 00:46:41.020
Elisha is with this king called Jehoshaphat.

00:46:41.020 --> 00:46:43.020
And the enemy is huge.

00:46:43.020 --> 00:46:45.020
And Elisha says, don't worry.

00:46:45.020 --> 00:46:49.020
By this time tomorrow, there is no water in this river.

00:46:49.020 --> 00:46:51.020
This river would be full of water.

00:46:51.020 --> 00:46:54.020
And all those enemy guys will be attacking each other.

00:46:54.020 --> 00:46:56.020
There will be blood flowing like water.

00:46:56.020 --> 00:46:57.020
You will not have to do anything.

00:46:57.020 --> 00:46:59.020
Stand and see what God will do.

00:46:59.020 --> 00:47:02.020
One man's faith delivers the nation.

00:47:02.020 --> 00:47:04.020
It's happened again and again and again and again.

00:47:04.020 --> 00:47:08.020
You think one man's faith can't deliver your family?

00:47:08.020 --> 00:47:12.020
You think one man's faith can't deliver this church?

00:47:12.020 --> 00:47:15.020
You think one man's faith can't deliver this nation?

00:47:15.020 --> 00:47:17.020
What are we talking about?

00:47:17.020 --> 00:47:19.020
We're not talking about a puny man's faith.

00:47:19.020 --> 00:47:22.020
We are talking about a puny man's humongous God

00:47:22.020 --> 00:47:24.020
who sits on a throne in the heavenlies,

00:47:24.020 --> 00:47:26.020
king over the entire universe.

00:47:26.020 --> 00:47:31.020
And that same big God actually lives personally in this puny man.

00:47:31.020 --> 00:47:33.020
Slightly big man.

00:47:35.020 --> 00:47:37.020
That's how this works, guys.

00:47:39.020 --> 00:47:42.020
You can keep those that are in your charge.

00:47:42.020 --> 00:47:44.020
So rise up.

00:47:44.020 --> 00:47:47.020
Because some of us have to embrace our responsibility.

00:47:47.020 --> 00:47:50.020
And if we don't, then hand it over to somebody else.

00:47:50.020 --> 00:47:53.020
But for God's sake, don't keep it and not use it.

00:47:55.020 --> 00:47:59.020
If I can't do what I need to do for Acts 29,

00:47:59.020 --> 00:48:05.020
I need to hand it to a Marcus or a Derek or a Heidi or a Mark or whoever.

00:48:05.020 --> 00:48:09.020
But I should not hold on to it and not use it.

00:48:11.020 --> 00:48:13.020
Any questions?

00:48:17.020 --> 00:48:21.020
Guys, there's a pecking order in the kingdom and in the satanic kingdom.

00:48:23.020 --> 00:48:26.020
And if you are in the pecking order up here

00:48:26.020 --> 00:48:29.020
and you don't want to do what you want to do and embrace your responsibility,

00:48:29.020 --> 00:48:32.020
then hand it over to somebody who's here saying,

00:48:32.020 --> 00:48:34.020
at present I'm not in a place to.

00:48:34.020 --> 00:48:39.020
I give you authority and I cover you the best way I can

00:48:39.020 --> 00:48:41.020
because I don't seem to be able to.

00:48:41.020 --> 00:48:43.020
But don't stand here and not do nothing.

00:48:43.020 --> 00:48:45.020
We'll talk about that another day.

00:48:45.020 --> 00:48:48.020
The other thing is guys, train your mind to obey the Holy Spirit

00:48:48.020 --> 00:48:51.020
and then sustain your obedience with faith.

00:48:51.020 --> 00:48:54.020
Train your mind to obey the Holy Spirit.

00:48:54.020 --> 00:48:56.020
Learn to obey as soon as you hear Him.

00:48:56.020 --> 00:48:58.020
And then sustain obedience through faith.

00:48:58.020 --> 00:49:00.020
Don't wait for faith to happen.

00:49:00.020 --> 00:49:03.020
As soon as you hear God, train your mind to obey Him.

00:49:03.020 --> 00:49:05.020
Once you know it is God, then you can do it.

00:49:05.020 --> 00:49:07.020
And if you don't, then you don't do it.

00:49:07.020 --> 00:49:09.020
And if you don't, then you don't do it.

00:49:09.020 --> 00:49:12.020
As soon as you hear God, train your mind to obey Him.

00:49:12.020 --> 00:49:15.020
Once you know it is God, once you've verified it is God,

00:49:15.020 --> 00:49:17.020
train your mind to obey Him.

00:49:17.020 --> 00:49:20.020
After you obey Him, you'll go, oh shucks man, what have I gone and done?

00:49:20.020 --> 00:49:22.020
Then sustain it by faith.

00:49:24.020 --> 00:49:28.020
First obey, then get frightened, and then sustain it by faith.

00:49:29.020 --> 00:49:31.020
What do you think Peter did?

00:49:31.020 --> 00:49:33.020
Jesus said, come so he stepped out.

00:49:33.020 --> 00:49:36.020
You think he thought for a second?

00:49:36.020 --> 00:49:38.020
He's walking on substance he has no business walking on.

00:49:38.020 --> 00:49:41.020
And as he's walking, he suddenly realizes I'm walking on water.

00:49:41.020 --> 00:49:45.020
So he sustains it with faith for a little while more, till fear takes over.

00:49:49.020 --> 00:49:54.020
Train your mind to obey the Holy Spirit as soon as you hear Him and know it is God.

00:49:54.020 --> 00:49:58.020
And once you do that, sustain your obedience through faith.

00:50:03.020 --> 00:50:05.020
Because there's nobody who can say,

00:50:05.020 --> 00:50:08.020
there might be people here who can say I don't have the faith for it.

00:50:08.020 --> 00:50:12.020
But there's nobody in this room who can say I don't have the obedience for it.

00:50:15.020 --> 00:50:17.020
I don't have the obedience for it.

00:50:17.020 --> 00:50:19.020
Too bad you haven't.

00:50:19.020 --> 00:50:21.020
It's just a choice you make.

00:50:21.020 --> 00:50:23.020
Sustain it by faith after.

00:50:24.020 --> 00:50:26.020
Next line, two more lines to go.

00:50:28.020 --> 00:50:32.020
Urged by faith, the people pass through the Red Sea as on dry land.

00:50:32.020 --> 00:50:37.020
But when the Egyptians tried to do so, they were drowned, although they were swallowed up by the sea.

00:50:37.020 --> 00:50:42.020
Urged by faith, the people pass through the Red Sea as on dry land.

00:50:42.020 --> 00:50:46.020
But when the Egyptians tried to do so, they were drowned.

00:50:46.020 --> 00:50:52.020
Guys, I love to say, faith constructs a realm that confuses demons.

00:50:52.020 --> 00:50:57.020
Faith constructs a realm that confuses demons.

00:50:58.020 --> 00:51:05.020
When you operate in faith, it literally constructs a realm in which demons are confused.

00:51:05.020 --> 00:51:08.020
Because demons don't understand faith.

00:51:08.020 --> 00:51:13.020
Demons don't understand your connection with God in terms of faith.

00:51:13.020 --> 00:51:17.020
So what happens is, once you start operating by faith, demons can't see.

00:51:17.020 --> 00:51:21.020
Once you start operating by faith, demons can't plan.

00:51:21.020 --> 00:51:25.020
Once you start operating by faith, demons can't advance.

00:51:25.020 --> 00:51:30.020
Hey Jeevan, church starts at 3.30, but you're welcome anyways.

00:51:30.020 --> 00:51:35.020
Today it started at 2.30, I don't know, maybe you overslept or something.

00:51:35.020 --> 00:51:41.020
Jeevan was in Vernon this morning preaching there, so he just got back from Vernon.

00:51:41.020 --> 00:51:43.020
I heard it went well.

00:51:45.020 --> 00:51:49.020
So guys, faith constructs a realm that confuses demons.

00:51:49.020 --> 00:51:53.020
And so what happens then is, here is a story.

00:51:53.020 --> 00:52:00.020
What happens then is, here is a situation that Satan has worked at for months to set up in your life.

00:52:00.020 --> 00:52:06.020
He has coordinated his agency around earth, he has coordinated the demonic realm,

00:52:06.020 --> 00:52:10.020
he's set everything up, and finally he thinks you're in the trap.

00:52:10.020 --> 00:52:14.020
That the demonic can understand.

00:52:14.020 --> 00:52:17.020
When you're in the trap, and here's what you start doing.

00:52:17.020 --> 00:52:19.020
You behave as if you're not in the trap.

00:52:19.020 --> 00:52:21.020
You are singing.

00:52:21.020 --> 00:52:22.020
You are joyful.

00:52:22.020 --> 00:52:23.020
You're trusting God.

00:52:23.020 --> 00:52:25.020
You're speaking loudly about God.

00:52:25.020 --> 00:52:28.020
As you begin to do this, a strange thing happens.

00:52:28.020 --> 00:52:33.020
It constructs a realm around you, which is highly confusing to the enemy.

00:52:33.020 --> 00:52:35.020
Because in this realm, he cannot see.

00:52:35.020 --> 00:52:42.020
Because he operates as someone who sees plans and advances based on human responses.

00:52:42.020 --> 00:52:44.020
He's a created being.

00:52:44.020 --> 00:52:45.020
He's not God.

00:52:45.020 --> 00:52:47.020
He's not creator.

00:52:47.020 --> 00:52:50.020
And he's unable to see your next move.

00:52:50.020 --> 00:52:57.020
He's unable to predict what you will do next because you're not operating according to logic, your brain,

00:52:57.020 --> 00:53:00.020
the worldly way of doing things, experts.

00:53:00.020 --> 00:53:02.020
You're doing nothing right.

00:53:02.020 --> 00:53:06.020
You're operating by an invisible thing called God and faith in God.

00:53:06.020 --> 00:53:08.020
He's unable to see.

00:53:08.020 --> 00:53:10.020
Now he's unable to plan.

00:53:10.020 --> 00:53:12.020
He does not know what to do.

00:53:12.020 --> 00:53:14.020
Should he go forward? Should he not?

00:53:14.020 --> 00:53:17.020
Everything he's set up is beginning to collapse.

00:53:17.020 --> 00:53:28.020
Do you know how long it took for Satan to set up Haman to slaughter the Jews at the festival of Purim in the book of Esther?

00:53:28.020 --> 00:53:32.020
Do you know how long it took to orchestrate that?

00:53:32.020 --> 00:53:35.020
And what does a girl called Hadassah do?

00:53:35.020 --> 00:53:41.020
She decides to take up a fast and decides that this is not going to happen.

00:53:41.020 --> 00:53:49.020
What do you do when the king wakes up in the middle of the night and sees a dream in which he is supposed to go to the library and pick up a book and read it?

00:53:49.020 --> 00:53:58.020
What do you do when he reads the book and finds in the book the name of a man called Mordecai who had saved one of his ancestors from trouble?

00:53:58.020 --> 00:54:07.020
What do you do when the same Mordecai who's supposed to be hung on the gallows now sits on a horse, on the royal horse, decked in royal attire and goes through the city?

00:54:07.020 --> 00:54:09.020
What does the devil do then?

00:54:09.020 --> 00:54:21.020
What do you do when Haman goes up to dinner with the king and stumbles and falls upon Esther, the king's wife, and the king is enraged that he dared to fall upon my wife?

00:54:21.020 --> 00:54:28.020
What do you do when the gallows that were set up for Mordecai now is set up for Haman and he hangs there?

00:54:28.020 --> 00:54:38.020
What do you do when the very king that said all the Jews shall be slaughtered now gives another decree saying every Jew has a right to bear arms and combat anybody who comes?

00:54:38.020 --> 00:54:40.020
Combat anybody who comes to slaughter.

00:54:40.020 --> 00:54:42.020
What do you do?

00:54:42.020 --> 00:54:56.020
What do you do when the devil cannot see, cannot plan, cannot advance because you live by an invisible principle that defies logic, defies the ways of the world called faith?

00:54:56.020 --> 00:55:02.020
We don't understand what a powerful weapon we have in our hand.

00:55:02.020 --> 00:55:08.020
It's not a realm that the devil knows how to operate in.

00:55:08.020 --> 00:55:10.020
He doesn't know how to operate in Israel.

00:55:10.020 --> 00:55:24.020
You see that in Numbers 14 where Pharaoh and his chariots are coming behind you, the weasels, you can hear the weasels, and ahead of you is the Red Sea.

00:55:24.020 --> 00:55:29.020
And Moses says, the people start complaining and God says, Moses don't look at me.

00:55:29.020 --> 00:55:32.020
Just stretch out your staff.

00:55:32.020 --> 00:55:35.020
I mean that's what God says, why are you looking at me?

00:55:35.020 --> 00:55:36.020
Don't look at me.

00:55:36.020 --> 00:55:37.020
Do what I told you to.

00:55:37.020 --> 00:55:38.020
Stretch out your staff.

00:55:38.020 --> 00:55:40.020
The sea opens across on dry land.

00:55:40.020 --> 00:55:49.020
And Pharaoh and his army, here symbolic of the demonic, who want to destroy the people of God, now say, we will chase them too.

00:55:49.020 --> 00:55:50.020
And now read the rest of it.

00:55:50.020 --> 00:55:54.020
I mean if it was a comedy movie, it would be funny.

00:55:54.020 --> 00:55:55.020
Go read it.

00:55:55.020 --> 00:55:57.020
Exodus 14.

00:55:57.020 --> 00:56:01.020
Exodus 14.

00:56:01.020 --> 00:56:08.020
Verse 23 to 28.

00:56:08.020 --> 00:56:11.020
Exodus 14, 23 to 28.

00:56:11.020 --> 00:56:17.020
The Egyptians pursued them, and all Pharaohs, horses, and chariots, and horsemen followed them into the sea.

00:56:17.020 --> 00:56:25.020
During the last watch of the night, the Lord looked down from the pillar of fire and clouded the Egyptian army and threw it into confusion.

00:56:25.020 --> 00:56:29.020
He looked down and threw the army into confusion.

00:56:29.020 --> 00:56:31.020
Look at what happens next.

00:56:31.020 --> 00:56:39.020
I mean, he made the wheels of the chariots come off.

00:56:39.020 --> 00:56:44.020
I love the way it says, so that they had difficulty driving.

00:56:44.020 --> 00:56:47.020
And the Egyptians said, let's get away from the Israelites.

00:56:47.020 --> 00:56:50.020
The Lord is fighting for them against Egypt.

00:56:50.020 --> 00:56:56.020
Then the Lord said to Moses, stretch out your hand over the sea so that the waters may flow back over the Egyptians and their chariots and horsemen.

00:56:56.020 --> 00:57:00.020
Moses stretched out his hand over the sea, and at daybreak the sea went back to its place.

00:57:00.020 --> 00:57:04.020
The Egyptians were fleeing towards it, and the Lord swept them back into the sea.

00:57:04.020 --> 00:57:07.020
The water flowed back, covered the chariots and the horsemen.

00:57:07.020 --> 00:57:12.020
The entire army of Pharaoh that had followed the Israelites into the sea, not one of them survived.

00:57:12.020 --> 00:57:21.020
The wheels came unstuck, and so they had difficulty driving.

00:57:21.020 --> 00:57:28.020
Understand what faith does to the realm of the demonic.

00:57:28.020 --> 00:57:33.020
Any questions?

00:57:33.020 --> 00:57:37.020
Okay, last one.

00:57:37.020 --> 00:57:40.020
Exodus 14, 14 actually says, Moses says to the people,

00:57:40.020 --> 00:57:43.020
Hey, the Egyptians whom you see today, you will never see again.

00:57:43.020 --> 00:57:46.020
The Lord will fight for you, and you will only have to be silent.

00:57:46.020 --> 00:57:50.020
Crazier, the Lord will fight for you, and you will only have to be silent.

00:57:50.020 --> 00:57:54.020
Because the Egyptians you saw today, you will never see again.

00:57:54.020 --> 00:57:56.020
That's what he says to them.

00:57:56.020 --> 00:57:59.020
Last verse, verse 30.

00:57:59.020 --> 00:58:05.020
By faith the walls of Jericho fell, after the army had marched around them for seven days.

00:58:05.020 --> 00:58:11.020
By faith the walls of Jericho fell, after the army had marched around them for seven days.

00:58:11.020 --> 00:58:15.020
Guys, here's a sad thing.

00:58:15.020 --> 00:58:23.020
Between verse 29 and verse 30, there's a 40-year gap.

00:58:23.020 --> 00:58:31.020
Between verse 29 and verse 30, there's a 40-year gap.

00:58:31.020 --> 00:58:37.020
Hebrews 11, 29 and Hebrews 11, 30, between those verses is a 40-year gap.

00:58:37.020 --> 00:58:43.020
Where not much of faith happens.

00:58:43.020 --> 00:58:47.020
That's an indefensible position to hold.

00:58:47.020 --> 00:58:50.020
You had a people in whose midst God dwells.

00:58:50.020 --> 00:58:55.020
And there were no incidents of faith between verse 29 and verse 30.

00:58:55.020 --> 00:59:02.020
40 years of faithless living.

00:59:02.020 --> 00:59:04.020
Scary.

00:59:04.020 --> 00:59:15.020
Our position, if we have had one year or one and a half years of no stories of faith, is indefensible.

00:59:15.020 --> 00:59:17.020
Indefensible.

00:59:17.020 --> 00:59:20.020
Because there he used to dwell in the midst.

00:59:20.020 --> 00:59:23.020
Here he dwells not in our midst, he dwells actually in us.

00:59:23.020 --> 00:59:29.020
The same who rules from heaven and is king of the universe and sits on a throne next to his father,

00:59:29.020 --> 00:59:34.020
is the same one who actually personally is present in me.

00:59:34.020 --> 00:59:41.020
It is indefensible for Jacob to continue even three weeks without acts and stories of faith.

00:59:41.020 --> 00:59:47.020
Indefensible.

00:59:47.020 --> 00:59:52.020
Not even three weeks.

00:59:52.020 --> 00:59:59.020
Any questions before we move on?

00:59:59.020 --> 01:00:03.020
If our life is not a life of faith, then what is it?

01:00:03.020 --> 01:00:13.020
It is a life that is saved, that is living by its old ways of living.

01:00:13.020 --> 01:00:23.020
It doesn't have to be a resounding testimony, guys, but it has to be a life of faith.

01:00:23.020 --> 01:00:31.020
Where there is this reckless dependence and trust upon the Father for all the things that he has already provided us

01:00:31.020 --> 01:00:38.020
before we were born by grace that we are highly dependent on through every situation that we go through.

01:00:38.020 --> 01:00:44.020
Be it an ailment, be it something that has upset us, be it a threat, be it perceived danger,

01:00:44.020 --> 01:00:52.020
be it, I don't know, millions of things.

01:00:52.020 --> 01:01:00.020
Opposition is indefensible if we do not have, if there is a three week gap between one instance of faith

01:01:00.020 --> 01:01:06.020
and another instance of faith in our life, then all that we are doing is living lives as ones that are saved

01:01:06.020 --> 01:01:11.020
and nothing else.

01:01:11.020 --> 01:01:17.020
And may this church never allow you to survive here with that.

01:01:17.020 --> 01:01:23.020
May this church make it so difficult for you to continue if that is how I live.

01:01:23.020 --> 01:01:29.020
It may not be possible.

01:01:29.020 --> 01:01:35.020
And so they now have come to Jericho and they've been in this part before.

01:01:35.020 --> 01:01:43.020
Forty years ago, twelve spies went out and the twelve spies had gone out and they had gone past different places

01:01:43.020 --> 01:01:49.020
exploring what the land was like, the promised land was like, and perhaps they had come across Jericho

01:01:49.020 --> 01:01:55.020
or come across other walled cities like Jericho.

01:01:55.020 --> 01:02:01.020
This was a city, a city like this must have frightened the spies and the people forty years ago

01:02:01.020 --> 01:02:08.020
where they said the people looked like giants and we were like grasshoppers and it's a great land but impossible to take.

01:02:08.020 --> 01:02:13.020
And now here they are again forty years later with no acts of faith to show.

01:02:13.020 --> 01:02:24.020
And they are once again at that place where they cannot inherit the promise without conquering Jericho.

01:02:24.020 --> 01:02:31.020
You cannot inherit, once again in that same place where you cannot conquer Jericho without,

01:02:31.020 --> 01:02:34.020
you cannot inherit the promise without conquering Jericho.

01:02:34.020 --> 01:02:44.020
Guys, right now in every life here there is an area where you have chickened out from exerting faith.

01:02:44.020 --> 01:02:50.020
What does chickened out from exerting faith mean? Meaning you are hesitant either because you failed in the past

01:02:50.020 --> 01:02:55.020
or because you tried it and nothing happened or because you can't trust God in that area.

01:02:55.020 --> 01:03:03.020
And so in that area you always come to Jericho and say, this promise I'll inherit in the sweet buy and buy.

01:03:03.020 --> 01:03:13.020
Live without it here. I'm saying refuse to stop at Jericho's in your life.

01:03:13.020 --> 01:03:19.020
I want to push past my present boundary without stepping into presumption.

01:03:19.020 --> 01:03:28.020
Push past my present boundary in every area, every area, be it finances, be it my ability in some other area where I'm scared.

01:03:28.020 --> 01:03:33.020
Got to push past. Whatever it be.

01:03:33.020 --> 01:03:39.020
Because there's no inheriting the promise in that area without conquering Jericho.

01:03:39.020 --> 01:03:47.020
And many of you have, eh? Many of you have.

01:03:47.020 --> 01:03:51.020
You've gone into a place where things you never used to do, you do.

01:03:51.020 --> 01:04:01.020
And you've done it not out of bravado but out of faith.

01:04:01.020 --> 01:04:11.020
So here's what we can do if you want to live like that.

01:04:11.020 --> 01:04:25.020
One, start afresh by, start trusting God afresh. Start trusting God afresh.

01:04:26.020 --> 01:04:29.020
And if you do, here's what will happen.

01:04:29.020 --> 01:04:39.020
One, your measure of faith will be uncapped.

01:04:39.020 --> 01:04:47.020
Guys, Romans 12 verse 3 says that everybody sitting here, if you're a believer, you have received a measure of faith.

01:04:47.020 --> 01:04:51.020
There is nobody here who does not have a measure of faith.

01:04:51.020 --> 01:04:55.020
And I would suggest to you that all of us receive the same measure of faith to start with.

01:04:55.020 --> 01:04:59.020
Because God won't give one extra faith and one less faith.

01:04:59.020 --> 01:05:01.020
We all got saved by faith.

01:05:01.020 --> 01:05:04.020
There is a measure of faith that is appointed to everybody here.

01:05:04.020 --> 01:05:09.020
There's not a single person here sleeping or awake who has not...

01:05:09.020 --> 01:05:13.020
And all the sleeping ones woke up.

01:05:13.020 --> 01:05:20.020
There's not a single person here sleeping or awake who does not have a measure of faith that has been given to you and has not been given to you.

01:05:20.020 --> 01:05:22.020
And that we share in common.

01:05:22.020 --> 01:05:30.020
The only difference is, as you start trusting God afresh, your measure of faith will be uncapped.

01:05:30.020 --> 01:05:33.020
Will be uncapped.

01:05:38.020 --> 01:05:47.020
Second, you will please God.

01:05:47.020 --> 01:05:54.020
Hebrews 11 6, without faith it is impossible to please God.

01:05:54.020 --> 01:06:02.020
Hey, Finn and Aerie and Tate are Mark and Rhonda's kids, regardless of what they do.

01:06:02.020 --> 01:06:09.020
But there are days when their children please them and there are days when they are just children.

01:06:09.020 --> 01:06:19.020
With God, we never stop being sons and daughters.

01:06:19.020 --> 01:06:29.020
But the one thing that God says really pleases him, and without which it is impossible to please him, is faith.

01:06:30.020 --> 01:06:46.020
Faith is the trusting, childlike response that I have towards God who has provided me everything and is willing to give it to me by grace.

01:06:46.020 --> 01:06:49.020
I don't have to extract it from him.

01:06:50.020 --> 01:07:04.020
Thirdly, you will inherit promises.

01:07:08.020 --> 01:07:11.020
Who got these pens?

01:07:13.020 --> 01:07:15.020
You are guilty of these pens.

01:07:15.020 --> 01:07:17.020
No, I am not.

01:07:19.020 --> 01:07:22.020
No, these pens are intoxicating.

01:07:23.020 --> 01:07:25.020
Inherit promises.

01:07:26.020 --> 01:07:31.020
Guys, it is impossible to inherit promises unless there is faith.

01:07:31.020 --> 01:07:41.020
All that Christians inherit without faith are the very things that the world inherits, that comes from the goodness of God, and that the people in the world will give you.

01:07:41.020 --> 01:07:44.020
Ouch! Just think of that.

01:07:44.020 --> 01:07:56.020
Without faith, you will get what your boss gives you, what the world gives you, what the sweat of your brow will give you, what doctors will give you, what Donald Trump will give you.

01:07:56.020 --> 01:08:01.020
These are the things you inherit without faith.

01:08:03.020 --> 01:08:06.020
You will also inherit the rain, the sun.

01:08:06.020 --> 01:08:09.020
You will inherit whatever your soul will grow.

01:08:09.020 --> 01:08:14.020
You will inherit all the principles that apply to God's goodness to the world.

01:08:14.020 --> 01:08:21.020
You will also inherit God's goodness shown to Christians and his children in general.

01:08:21.020 --> 01:08:24.020
You will inherit that too.

01:08:24.020 --> 01:08:28.020
But you will not inherit certain promises.

01:08:28.020 --> 01:08:34.020
You will not inherit your God-crafted inheritance without faith.

01:08:34.020 --> 01:08:37.020
You will not.

01:08:40.020 --> 01:08:46.020
Israel would have continued living in the desert with water, with manna.

01:08:46.020 --> 01:08:54.020
They would have to change their name from Israel to Manna Nation or something.

01:08:54.020 --> 01:08:57.020
Because they would have been still eating manna.

01:08:59.020 --> 01:09:02.020
You cannot inherit promises except through faith.

01:09:02.020 --> 01:09:09.020
And lastly, this is, in my opinion, is an amazing thing.

01:09:09.020 --> 01:09:13.020
This is what makes the world look at us and say, your God must be God.

01:09:13.020 --> 01:09:22.020
You get to take down a walled city with seven trumpet-blowing priests and a silent army.

01:09:22.020 --> 01:09:31.020
You get to take down walled cities with seven trumpet-blowing priests and a silent army.

01:09:31.020 --> 01:09:36.020
And that is why the rest of the world takes note of your God.

01:09:36.020 --> 01:09:45.020
You get to do things that are so ludicrous that people say, this must be God.

01:09:46.020 --> 01:09:52.020
Daniel in the Dian lion's den. Your God is God.

01:09:52.020 --> 01:09:58.020
Shadrach, Meshech and Abednego in the furnace. Your God is God.

01:09:58.020 --> 01:10:05.020
Paul, when he raises up the dead in, your God is God.

01:10:05.020 --> 01:10:12.020
Paul, when he gets bitten by a snake and the snake falls into the fire and he walks off free.

01:10:12.020 --> 01:10:14.020
Your God is God.

01:10:15.020 --> 01:10:19.020
These things don't happen.

01:10:22.020 --> 01:10:25.020
Exploits of faith.

01:10:31.020 --> 01:10:34.020
Elijah and Mount Carmel. Your God is God.

01:10:34.020 --> 01:10:43.020
These four things do not happen without a fresh trusting of God.

01:10:43.020 --> 01:10:46.020
God, these things won't happen.

01:10:47.020 --> 01:10:49.020
Guys, isn't this worth it?

01:10:51.020 --> 01:10:54.020
Christian life is very hard to be lived if we don't live it like this.

01:10:54.020 --> 01:11:00.020
It's one of the most painful, boring lives to live if this isn't there.

01:11:04.020 --> 01:11:09.020
Other religions have more festivals, there's more dancing, there's more colors.

01:11:09.020 --> 01:11:11.020
The gods look more beautiful.

01:11:13.020 --> 01:11:14.020
Pardon?

01:11:14.020 --> 01:11:16.020
They're visible.

01:11:20.020 --> 01:11:31.020
Our God is invisible, but without faith, life with him is so not fun, man.

01:11:33.020 --> 01:11:36.020
Any questions? Please feel free to ask.

01:11:36.020 --> 01:11:46.020
Is there a specific time for God to give us what we ask by faith?

01:11:50.020 --> 01:11:52.020
He knows. I don't.

01:11:52.020 --> 01:12:03.020
So I'm always acting in the assumption, in the good faith that he's my father, I'm his child, I trust him.

01:12:03.020 --> 01:12:07.020
I will go ask and I will receive in perfect time.

01:12:07.020 --> 01:12:15.020
And certain things Christ has already done, those things I expect to happen immediately.

01:12:15.020 --> 01:12:21.020
When they don't happen immediately, I'll stand at four o'clock and expect it to happen immediately at four.

01:12:21.020 --> 01:12:25.020
If it doesn't happen at four, I'll stand at five and expect it to happen immediately at five.

01:12:25.020 --> 01:12:27.020
And so it goes on.

01:12:27.020 --> 01:12:33.020
But things that have been accomplished by Christ already, I do expect immediately.

01:12:33.020 --> 01:12:37.020
I remember talking about this ages ago.

01:12:37.020 --> 01:12:44.020
Faith has this tendency to combine immediacy with patience.

01:12:44.020 --> 01:12:48.020
And they are not contradictions, they go hand in hand.

01:12:48.020 --> 01:12:55.020
This is why Jesus said, whatsoever you believe, whatever you ask for, believe that you have received it.

01:12:55.020 --> 01:12:57.020
That's the immediacy.

01:12:57.020 --> 01:13:03.020
And yet at times I've seen it taking a day, two days, six years, 13 years.

01:13:03.020 --> 01:13:07.020
13 years is the max I've gone to for it to happen.

01:13:07.020 --> 01:13:13.020
But did I receive it immediately in my spirit? Absolutely. Absolutely.

01:13:18.020 --> 01:13:23.020
Yeah, sometimes it's because I slept with Hagar, sometimes with Bathsheba and sometimes with...

01:13:23.020 --> 01:13:25.020
Who's the other woman? Delilah.

01:13:25.020 --> 01:13:27.020
Delilah. That's one of the reasons.

01:13:27.020 --> 01:13:29.020
Other times it's got nothing to do with that.

01:13:29.020 --> 01:13:35.020
It's got everything to do with God bringing things together, coordinating everything together,

01:13:35.020 --> 01:13:38.020
so that there's this crescendo at the end of the song.

01:13:38.020 --> 01:13:45.020
And sometimes there's something that's been said, you know, behind it, that you want to be called.

01:13:45.020 --> 01:13:49.020
Often. But I would like to ask why there's a delay.

01:13:49.020 --> 01:13:53.020
I know there's a delay. I ask, Father, how come you're not saying? How come you're not saying?

01:13:53.020 --> 01:13:58.020
How come you're not saying? And you keep going with it.

01:13:58.020 --> 01:14:05.020
The moment you forget that he's your father, everything goes kaput.

01:14:05.020 --> 01:14:09.020
Anything with God, you must remember you're dealing with a father.

01:14:09.020 --> 01:14:15.020
The moment you forget that he is father and you think he is only God, you're finished.

01:14:15.020 --> 01:14:22.020
Because I must never forget that he is father.

01:14:22.020 --> 01:14:25.020
When he disciplines me if I think he is God, I'm finished.

01:14:25.020 --> 01:14:32.020
When he heals me if I think he is God and not my father who is God, who is Delilah,

01:14:32.020 --> 01:14:37.020
the next time he doesn't heal immediately, it bothers me.

01:14:37.020 --> 01:14:44.020
When he doesn't provide and I forget that he is not father, I think of God as being my Zer.

01:14:44.020 --> 01:14:49.020
When God doesn't answer and I think of him as a God who is silent,

01:14:49.020 --> 01:14:55.020
and oh, I can't hear, I'm not very good at this, if I forget that he is father, I think of God as a silent God.

01:14:55.020 --> 01:14:59.020
When I think he is a father, I think to myself, my dad who was imperfect used to talk a lot,

01:14:59.020 --> 01:15:03.020
surely this God must be at least 10 billion times better.

01:15:03.020 --> 01:15:07.020
May it not take us 25 years and 40 years and stuff like that because we don't live as long nowadays.

01:15:07.020 --> 01:15:08.020
Thank God for that.

01:15:08.020 --> 01:15:11.020
Everything's happened faster.

01:15:11.020 --> 01:15:16.020
Imagine if your lifespan was 900 years.

01:15:16.020 --> 01:15:21.020
Man, then 40 years is like nothing.

01:15:21.020 --> 01:15:23.020
Any other questions about that?

01:15:23.020 --> 01:15:24.020
Okay.
