00:00:00.000 --> 00:00:18.800
Okay, so we've been talking about the Ark and the contents of the Ark and how Aaron's

00:00:18.800 --> 00:00:28.000
staff came to represent the order of leaders and followers, but a better way of looking

00:00:28.000 --> 00:00:35.000
at it is as mentioned in Numbers 17, fathers and sons. So we've been going down that route.

00:00:35.000 --> 00:00:40.520
So we'll do one more perhaps and then change next week. So we are talking about the generational

00:00:40.520 --> 00:00:46.400
order of fathers and sons. So I won't recap what we did last week. I'll just continue

00:00:46.400 --> 00:00:51.700
from here. If you want to find out, you can go and listen to last week's teaching.

00:00:51.700 --> 00:01:13.700
So guys, Abraham's are usually—Abraham's are the ones God can trust to command His sons in the ways of God.

00:01:13.700 --> 00:01:23.700
Where do we get that from? That's from last week. If we go to Genesis 18, 19. Go to Genesis 18, 19.

00:01:23.700 --> 00:01:38.700
And you'll see it mentioned there. Genesis 18, 19. In Genesis 18, 19, starting at verse 17,

00:01:38.700 --> 00:01:44.700
then the Lord said, shall I hide from Abraham what I'm about to do? Then He makes a statement,

00:01:44.700 --> 00:01:49.700
Abraham will surely become a great and powerful nation and all nations on earth will be blessed

00:01:49.700 --> 00:01:57.700
through Him. Now look at why He chose Abraham. For I've chosen Him as an Abraham so that

00:01:57.700 --> 00:02:06.700
He will direct His children and His household after Him to keep the way of the Lord by doing

00:02:06.700 --> 00:02:14.700
what is right and just. Why? So that the Lord will bring about for Abraham what He has promised Him.

00:02:14.700 --> 00:02:23.700
We talked about this last week saying how God may give a promise, but then He requires

00:02:23.700 --> 00:02:49.700
multiple generations to receive, believe, work out, manifest as in live out and establish that promise.

00:02:49.700 --> 00:02:57.700
And so God is so sure of Abraham that He says, hey, guess what? Abraham is the kind of guy who can do this.

00:02:57.700 --> 00:03:05.700
He can teach His children and His children's children how to walk in the ways of God so that I can bring to pass

00:03:05.700 --> 00:03:17.700
the promise that I gave Him. And so what we then realize is Abraham's need Isaacs.

00:03:17.700 --> 00:03:24.700
Doesn't matter what the promise is, a promise, and we're not talking about personal promises of,

00:03:24.700 --> 00:03:31.700
oh, I'll give you a job or I'll take you somewhere and stuff like that. I'm talking about promises that

00:03:31.700 --> 00:03:40.700
will affect the earth. Those promises cannot come to pass unless generations learn how to walk in it.

00:03:40.700 --> 00:03:51.700
So Abraham's need Isaacs. Otherwise, the promise dies with Abraham. Abraham needs Isaac.

00:03:51.700 --> 00:03:59.700
Why? Because Isaacs conveyed things. Isaacs conveyed things to Jacob.

00:03:59.700 --> 00:04:08.700
So God gives Abraham a promise saying, hey, listen, your descendants will have this entire land.

00:04:08.700 --> 00:04:13.700
Four hundred years they'll be locked away, but a time will come and they'll come out of their captivity.

00:04:13.700 --> 00:04:20.700
And everything that you see, I'll give to you. You're at present important, but I want to say to you

00:04:20.700 --> 00:04:26.700
that I'm changing your name and I'm calling you Abraham, Father, before you even have a child.

00:04:26.700 --> 00:04:31.700
I'm going to give you a son. It won't be through your servant, Eliezer. I'm going to give you a son,

00:04:31.700 --> 00:04:38.700
a promise called Isaac. But you have to, and I'm choosing you because I trust you, to convey to Isaac

00:04:38.700 --> 00:04:45.700
what I will show you of myself. Teach Isaac your ways so that Isaac can teach Jacob his, my ways,

00:04:45.700 --> 00:04:50.700
so that the promise I gave you can come to pass. And here's the promise. All the nations of the earth

00:04:50.700 --> 00:05:00.700
will be blessed through you. So these kind of promises that fill the earth are impossible to happen

00:05:00.700 --> 00:05:10.700
when there is no transmission generationally. And we don't realize this, but in this church,

00:05:10.700 --> 00:05:19.700
in terms of socio-cultural divides, you have seven generations here. So, I mean, look at this.

00:05:19.700 --> 00:05:31.700
That's how they divide generations nowadays. So you have generation beta, which is Eliakim.

00:05:31.700 --> 00:05:42.700
Eliakim was born last year. So he belongs to the beta generation. Then there's the alpha generation.

00:05:42.700 --> 00:05:53.700
Some of our younger guys like, what's her name, Yaya and Isaiah belong to this group.

00:05:53.700 --> 00:06:00.700
Then there's a generation Z, which is basically Z and Jonathan and others.

00:06:00.700 --> 00:06:15.700
Yeah. And then there's the generation Y, which is anyone from, I don't know who's 29. Let's pick on Tuni.

00:06:15.700 --> 00:06:25.700
29 and forward. Yeah. 29 to 44. Those are the millennials. And then there's generation X, and I'm generation X.

00:06:25.700 --> 00:06:36.700
Just born on the cusp. And then there are baby boomers. Both Dilna and Micah missing, but we put them in that.

00:06:36.700 --> 00:06:45.700
And then there's, I don't know why they call them the silent generation, but Ruth would be in that. Yeah.

00:06:45.700 --> 00:06:53.700
But she ain't silent. You should take a car ride with her. So in this church, there's seven different generations.

00:06:53.700 --> 00:07:02.700
But we're not talking about these kind of socio-cultural generations. We're talking about generations as in waves of believers that come into the church.

00:07:02.700 --> 00:07:13.700
And therefore, in that sense, what would be ideal if a church has four generations that learn the ways of God?

00:07:13.700 --> 00:07:24.700
And if they do, what God releases on earth will fill the earth and it won't die. But you need four generations to get it.

00:07:24.700 --> 00:07:33.700
And if they don't, it usually dies. We'll talk about that. Any questions? Other than on Tuni's age, any other questions?

00:07:33.700 --> 00:07:39.700
Okay.

00:07:39.700 --> 00:07:52.700
So the strange thing is when Abraham died, I love this, when Abraham died, he was 175.

00:07:52.700 --> 00:08:08.700
He was 175 years old. And Isaac was 75. And guess what? Jacob was 15.

00:08:08.700 --> 00:08:22.700
You can take that off the thingy, Brandon. It's on mine. I don't know how to remove it.

00:08:22.700 --> 00:08:33.700
Okay, Brandon, can you remove it? Okay. So it's, I mean, go to Hebrews 11, verse 9, and you find a strange scripture there.

00:08:33.700 --> 00:08:44.700
Hebrews 11, verse 9. And if you read it from the ESV, it almost says it exactly as if it's a physical existence, not a spiritual thing,

00:08:44.700 --> 00:08:55.700
where it says in Hebrews 11, 9, that Abraham kept living in tents. And he lived there with Jacob and Isaac.

00:08:55.700 --> 00:09:04.700
So all three lived together. You can't even imagine how rich it is when you have a promise from God passed down to you,

00:09:04.700 --> 00:09:12.700
or things that God did explain to you by the originator, the progenitor of the promise.

00:09:12.700 --> 00:09:21.700
Imagine Jacob, eh? Listening to Abraham's story. Abraham would tell him about how he met God. Thanks, man.

00:09:21.700 --> 00:09:27.700
He met God and two angels, that Yahweh turned up with two angels at the Oaks of Mamre.

00:09:27.700 --> 00:09:38.700
And so Jacob is now at Luz, which was later called Bethel, and he can understand what it is to see God.

00:09:38.700 --> 00:09:46.700
Abraham actually conveyed stories directly. One of the things we need to do, especially those that were here in the beginning,

00:09:46.700 --> 00:09:57.700
you have to have the ability to convey to people the divine traditions that have been handed to us and the promises given to us so that we can convey it forward.

00:09:57.700 --> 00:10:07.700
Second thing, if you look at 2 Timothy 2, 2, you'll find this there. 2 Timothy 2, 2, Paul says, hey, Timothy, can you do me a favor?

00:10:07.700 --> 00:10:13.700
What I have taught you, so Paul is the first generation, what I have taught you, Timothy is the second generation,

00:10:13.700 --> 00:10:20.700
could you go and deposit in faithful men, the third generation, so that they can teach others, four generations?

00:10:20.700 --> 00:10:28.700
There's a pattern of this. 2 Timothy 2, 2, Paul is saying to Timothy, Paul is the first generation, Timothy is the second,

00:10:28.700 --> 00:10:36.700
he's saying to Timothy, Timothy, can you deposit what I'm teaching you in faithful men so that they can teach others?

00:10:36.700 --> 00:10:49.700
If you are able to do this, then you'll find that anything that God promises comes to pass because now you've reached critical mass or threshold where things begin to happen.

00:10:49.700 --> 00:11:01.700
You look at 2 Kings 15, 12, 2 Kings 15, 12, 2 Kings 15, 12, 2 Kings 15, 12.

00:11:01.700 --> 00:11:11.700
2 Kings 15, 12, 2 Kings 15, 12.

00:11:11.700 --> 00:11:25.700
And it says there, God is talking to Jehu and he says, so the word of the Lord spoken to Jehu was fulfilled,

00:11:25.700 --> 00:11:29.700
your descendants will sit on the throne of Israel to the fourth generation.

00:11:29.700 --> 00:11:41.700
There is something that is conveyed and there are four generations present that have the ability to walk in the inheritance that God gave to the originator or the progenitor.

00:11:41.700 --> 00:11:47.700
The original mandate fills the earth and there are four generations that begin to walk in it.

00:11:47.700 --> 00:11:54.700
And so again you have Abraham, you have Isaac, and then you have Jacob, and then you have the tribes of Israel.

00:11:54.700 --> 00:12:02.700
Everything that God wanted had to happen through Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and then his 12 sons.

00:12:02.700 --> 00:12:11.700
That's how God replenishes or brings to pass a promise or an inheritance appointed to a people.

00:12:11.700 --> 00:12:19.700
And here's the crazy thing, whether we like it or not, God has promises for all people groups.

00:12:19.700 --> 00:12:27.700
It's just that we get stuck with getting healed, getting a job, getting money, getting a home, and dying peacefully.

00:12:27.700 --> 00:12:31.700
And that is so not what Christianity is about.

00:12:31.700 --> 00:12:37.700
Christianity is about rallying your family, your wealth, your work, your possessions,

00:12:37.700 --> 00:12:46.700
and laying them at the feet of Christ and the church so that he can use it however he wants for his glory.

00:12:46.700 --> 00:12:54.700
And so that goes against the grain of today's Christianity.

00:12:54.700 --> 00:12:59.700
But to every people God has a promise, because there's tons to do, guys.

00:12:59.700 --> 00:13:06.700
Eight billion people is a lot. You will never get to a point where you can say there are enough churches in this city.

00:13:06.700 --> 00:13:10.700
Never.

00:13:10.700 --> 00:13:14.700
There's always room for one more.

00:13:14.700 --> 00:13:21.700
But whatever God wants to do fills the earth. And the same applies to you, your family.

00:13:21.700 --> 00:13:34.700
You'll find that any God-given tradition in your family will die if it doesn't get past Isaac.

00:13:34.700 --> 00:13:38.700
So you have the 12 sons of Jacob, and God is now able to fill the earth.

00:13:38.700 --> 00:13:43.700
And this is why Satan will always attack the first four.

00:13:43.700 --> 00:13:56.700
He knew that if he can destroy Jacob's family before they get to a place where they can populate the earth,

00:13:56.700 --> 00:14:00.700
he knew that the seed of the woman would not be born.

00:14:00.700 --> 00:14:05.700
And so what's the intent? Let's go and try to bring a famine. Let's destroy...

00:14:05.700 --> 00:14:11.700
I've said this before, all the battles against Israel were for a simple reason in the Old Testament.

00:14:11.700 --> 00:14:19.700
If we destroy Israel, we will destroy the seed of the woman that will trample the head of the serpent.

00:14:19.700 --> 00:14:22.700
So it doesn't matter whether it's Moses or whether it's Jesus.

00:14:22.700 --> 00:14:34.700
It doesn't matter whether it's the destruction of Jacob's family or contaminating the line with Kinnonites and other countries that were not supposed to be part of that equation.

00:14:34.700 --> 00:14:41.700
The intent is always can be hybridized, contaminate or destroy the seed that will trample over the head of the serpent.

00:14:41.700 --> 00:14:43.700
That's the intent.

00:14:48.700 --> 00:14:55.700
Any questions? Any questions, guys?

00:14:55.700 --> 00:15:03.700
So even if you're building a business, building a church, building family traditions, building something on earth, this is critical.

00:15:03.700 --> 00:15:17.700
And so to get an Isaac and try to hybridize, mutate, destroy him is just so natural for the enemy.

00:15:17.700 --> 00:15:22.700
Because if you can get that next generation, traditions do not pass on.

00:15:22.700 --> 00:15:43.700
So with regard to Fuyo and Echo, let's assume God gives them a promise that is supposed to bless both Canada and Japan.

00:15:43.700 --> 00:15:48.700
That through this family, I'll do this, this and this in Japan and Canada.

00:15:48.700 --> 00:15:55.700
If they are not able to transmit it to him, and if he does not learn how to walk in it, the promise comes to them.

00:15:55.700 --> 00:16:05.700
They pray, they sing, they die, and they find out that because he didn't get it, it doesn't pass on.

00:16:05.700 --> 00:16:12.700
But if he gets it, then his children get it.

00:16:12.700 --> 00:16:18.700
And at a time, a church, most churches at a time have four generations.

00:16:18.700 --> 00:16:21.700
That is why it is important to pass this on.

00:16:21.700 --> 00:16:28.700
That is why one of the teachings that's happening in the churches right now during the week is, what is our culture?

00:16:28.700 --> 00:16:30.700
What is the vision of the mantle?

00:16:30.700 --> 00:16:34.700
If you don't get that, we'll talk about that later.

00:16:34.700 --> 00:16:43.700
Isaac bears a great responsibility.

00:16:43.700 --> 00:16:52.700
Isaac's as in the second generation that grows up in a business or a church.

00:16:52.700 --> 00:16:55.700
I mean, you'll find this in business too.

00:16:55.700 --> 00:17:06.700
Why is it that after 200 years, there's still someone who holds majority shares in Ford Motor Company that belongs to the Ford family?

00:17:06.700 --> 00:17:09.700
How come there are other households that squander their wealth?

00:17:09.700 --> 00:17:13.700
How come Rockefellers have the ability to maintain it?

00:17:13.700 --> 00:17:18.700
Generations later, they still have a huge stake in their company.

00:17:18.700 --> 00:17:24.700
While there are other houses that have collapsed because they're infighting or mutating.

00:17:24.700 --> 00:17:29.700
It applies right across the board. It's not a Christian thing.

00:17:29.700 --> 00:17:36.700
So Isaacs who make up the second generation have great responsibilities.

00:17:36.700 --> 00:17:46.700
They have to learn to receive from their fathers.

00:17:46.700 --> 00:17:59.700
They have to trust their fathers with their lives, as Isaac did.

00:17:59.700 --> 00:18:15.700
They have to teach the third and fourth generation what they learned.

00:18:15.700 --> 00:18:25.700
They have to recover things lost in transition.

00:18:25.700 --> 00:18:28.700
You see Isaac doing that. Where do we see him doing that?

00:18:28.700 --> 00:18:40.700
In Genesis 26, you find him re-digging the wells that Abraham had named.

00:18:40.700 --> 00:18:48.700
And each of those wells was significant.

00:18:48.700 --> 00:18:52.700
Isaacs have to add to their inheritance.

00:18:52.700 --> 00:18:54.700
You don't sit on an inheritance.

00:18:54.700 --> 00:18:59.700
You have to add to the inheritance that he received from Abraham.

00:18:59.700 --> 00:19:06.700
And so he goes digs two new wells. One is called Rehoboth, one is called Beech-Sheba.

00:19:06.700 --> 00:19:10.700
And each one marks a significant point in his journey.

00:19:10.700 --> 00:19:21.700
And then you have to resist picking up bad habits of Abraham.

00:19:21.700 --> 00:19:25.700
And in this Isaac failed.

00:19:25.700 --> 00:19:34.700
So you have Abraham who goes and tells Abimelech that, oh by the way, he wanted to save his skin.

00:19:34.700 --> 00:19:38.700
So he goes and says to Abimelech, that ain't my wife, that's my sister.

00:19:38.700 --> 00:19:41.700
And so along comes Isaac. He does the same thing.

00:19:41.700 --> 00:19:43.700
That ain't my wife, she's my sister.

00:19:43.700 --> 00:19:47.700
Jacob takes it up a notch. Yeah, yeah, I'm my brother.

00:19:48.700 --> 00:19:50.700
He goes gets his brother's blessing.

00:19:50.700 --> 00:19:53.700
So he's taken deception to a new notch.

00:19:53.700 --> 00:19:56.700
And so it just continues.

00:19:56.700 --> 00:20:06.700
So you have to learn how to resist the sins that Abraham began to practice in his life that begins to come down the line.

00:20:06.700 --> 00:20:08.700
Any questions?

00:20:08.700 --> 00:20:15.700
If you don't have context for this, you'll have to listen to the first two teachings where we talk about the church operating as fathers and sons,

00:20:15.700 --> 00:20:20.700
sons stepping into the place of their fathers in two lines that were critical from last week.

00:20:20.700 --> 00:20:24.700
What is the job of a father? The job of a father is to raise fathers.

00:20:24.700 --> 00:20:30.700
What is the job of a son? The job of a son is to step into maturity so he can be a father.

00:20:30.700 --> 00:20:32.700
And the Bible is replete with this.

00:20:32.700 --> 00:20:42.700
Beat Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, beat Elijah, Elisha, beat Paul, Timothy, beat Jesus and his disciples.

00:20:42.700 --> 00:20:44.700
Any questions?

00:20:47.700 --> 00:20:49.700
Go ahead.

00:20:53.700 --> 00:20:55.700
Yeah, within the family.

00:21:01.700 --> 00:21:03.700
Yeah.

00:21:04.700 --> 00:21:06.700
Yeah.

00:21:06.700 --> 00:21:15.700
So the question is, if this is something that can happen in the church in terms of multi-generational order of fathers and sons

00:21:15.700 --> 00:21:23.700
so that whatever God wants us to do begins to spread across the earth, how does it apply to businesses where it becomes almost nepotism

00:21:23.700 --> 00:21:26.700
or it becomes money that's contained within the family?

00:21:26.700 --> 00:21:32.700
The only reason God has this order in the church is so that someone else benefits.

00:21:32.700 --> 00:21:37.700
It's never for personal increase. It is always for the benefit of others.

00:21:37.700 --> 00:21:41.700
Any promise that God gives is always for the benefit of others.

00:21:41.700 --> 00:21:48.700
So if this becomes something where you begin to build an empire where your church becomes the strongest church,

00:21:48.700 --> 00:21:57.700
like I've always said and I really believe it, a church that is made strong exists only for one reason, to empty itself out.

00:21:58.700 --> 00:22:02.700
Many of you should not be here three, four years from now.

00:22:02.700 --> 00:22:11.700
There should be new people coming in that have been taught well and you should be scattered so that you are somewhere else starting what you learned here.

00:22:11.700 --> 00:22:18.700
Just as God raised a strong son, Jesus, so that he could pour Jesus out and empty him,

00:22:18.700 --> 00:22:26.700
so the only reason for a strong church to exist is so that the church can be poured out, emptied, so we can start afresh.

00:22:28.700 --> 00:22:41.700
So it's never about consolidating wealth. It is about increasing wealth and then stewarding it so that it's distributed till you hit empty.

00:22:41.700 --> 00:22:48.700
It's only empty vessels that get filled. These are not cliches. These have been repeated again and again in the Bible.

00:22:48.700 --> 00:22:58.700
Yes, so that's where the parallel just fails when it comes to businesses because they're not run that way.

00:22:58.700 --> 00:23:05.700
It's more a consolidation of wealth. I mean, who did they send from the church in Antioch in Acts chapter 13?

00:23:05.700 --> 00:23:14.700
They didn't send their sound guy. Our sound guys are like top of the notch, like you heard them pray today.

00:23:15.700 --> 00:23:23.700
They didn't send their sound guys from Antioch in Acts chapter 13. They sent their best. They sent Paul and Barnabas.

00:23:23.700 --> 00:23:27.700
Who does that? Who picks the best you have and sends them?

00:23:29.700 --> 00:23:33.700
You want to lock Tooney and Sheldon up, not send them out.

00:23:33.700 --> 00:23:34.700
Send them out.

00:23:42.700 --> 00:23:44.700
I saw Tooney run his hand through his hair.

00:23:50.700 --> 00:23:51.700
Any questions? Any other questions?

00:23:53.700 --> 00:23:54.700
Yep.

00:23:54.700 --> 00:23:55.700
Yeah.

00:24:02.700 --> 00:24:03.700
Yeah.

00:24:04.700 --> 00:24:10.700
Yeah. So if a father trains his son to imitate him but does not train him in the word, it's a problem.

00:24:10.700 --> 00:24:16.700
You end up not imitating, you end up mimicking someone. There's a difference between imitation and mimicking.

00:24:16.700 --> 00:24:21.700
Mimicking is done without understanding. Imitation is done holding up the mirror of the word.

00:24:21.700 --> 00:24:32.700
And so when training is done without the parameters of the word and without helping people learn to depend on the Holy Spirit,

00:24:32.700 --> 00:24:40.700
yeah, you can pick up habits and just continue them, not even knowing that it's got nothing to do with the nature of God.

00:24:41.700 --> 00:24:48.700
So it's essential that when this is ordered, that it be ordered with the word.

00:24:48.700 --> 00:24:53.700
With the word. Everything. One of the ways we order things with the word is guys continuously bring up scriptures,

00:24:53.700 --> 00:24:58.700
examples that illustrate the nature of God and the way God works.

00:25:00.700 --> 00:25:10.700
I should leave you no option, not because of my persuasiveness, but because I'm giving you evidence that it is actually a biblical structure.

00:25:10.700 --> 00:25:15.700
And you, till you find a more excellent way, this is the way. I should leave you no choice.

00:25:15.700 --> 00:25:21.700
I should leave Remy no choice. Either Remy has to say, yes, Jacob, this is it and step into it.

00:25:21.700 --> 00:25:27.700
I should leave Hamari no choice, where she can't say, no, no, no, I'm a little scared of this or I don't like this Remy and I want to stay away.

00:25:27.700 --> 00:25:33.700
Can't. I should leave no choice to Nishan and Shireen. Leave them no choice.

00:25:33.700 --> 00:25:39.700
They have to look at the mirror of the word and then decide, do I obey or do I not obey? Not because of persuasiveness.

00:25:39.700 --> 00:25:44.700
When it comes to persuasiveness, that's when you catch bad habits.

00:25:51.700 --> 00:25:56.700
Cool. Why waste, for the lack of a better word, so much time on this?

00:25:56.700 --> 00:26:03.700
Because if this can be established here, if five of us, ten of us get this, we're fine.

00:26:04.700 --> 00:26:09.700
Just five or ten, I have to get this. In a church this size, five or ten, get it.

00:26:09.700 --> 00:26:14.700
It'll be fine. Five or ten, we'll get it. You got a question?

00:26:15.700 --> 00:26:21.700
Why was, in Isaac and Jacob's case, why was the deception okay?

00:26:21.700 --> 00:26:27.700
Because Isaac clearly spent a lot of time with himself as a father teaching him the ways and...

00:26:44.700 --> 00:26:50.700
And he had a mum who was willing to go with it because she loved him and Isaac loved Esau.

00:26:50.700 --> 00:26:54.700
And Isaac tried his best to stop it. Isaac was a smart guy.

00:26:54.700 --> 00:27:00.700
He's saying, come a little closer, not because he wants to give his son a hug, but because he wants to smell his son.

00:27:03.700 --> 00:27:07.700
So his eyes were bad, but his nose was sharp.

00:27:08.700 --> 00:27:11.700
Come here, son, let me give you a hug.

00:27:12.700 --> 00:27:15.700
That's what basically Isaac was doing.

00:27:18.700 --> 00:27:25.700
He made a mistake as a father, but the mistake was made because of the deception of the son and because of the rivalry between the parents.

00:27:27.700 --> 00:27:31.700
He wanted to choose Esau. Not he wanted to choose Esau. He knew it was Esau's birthright.

00:27:31.700 --> 00:27:36.700
I mean, it's just natural that the oldest gets the thing. It was not even a question of choice.

00:27:36.700 --> 00:27:39.700
It was a question of this is how it works.

00:27:39.700 --> 00:27:43.700
And here comes a man who steals it till he comes to Peniel and then it changes.

00:27:47.700 --> 00:27:50.700
Man, the number of people who've told me to change my name.

00:27:51.700 --> 00:28:05.700
Hey Jacob, for those who are parents or make-up parents, can you balance if I'm not using the biological part of the term, but Moses and...

00:28:05.700 --> 00:28:07.700
Joshua. Yeah.

00:28:07.700 --> 00:28:13.700
It would be wonderful if biological parents could do this for their sons and they can to an extent.

00:28:13.700 --> 00:28:16.700
But sometimes familiarity does not help.

00:28:17.700 --> 00:28:19.700
Sometimes familiarity does not help.

00:28:19.700 --> 00:28:24.700
Jesus himself said a prophet is not accepted in his hometown.

00:28:24.700 --> 00:28:34.700
So parents must play this role and children must benefit from it till it comes to a certain place where you need someone from the outside.

00:28:34.700 --> 00:28:41.700
And it becomes very easy when you have a biological Abraham, Isaac or Jacob in your life who teaches you well.

00:28:42.700 --> 00:28:45.700
You meet children who have a rich Christian heritage.

00:28:45.700 --> 00:28:50.700
I look at Paul from South Africa. His dad, Eddie, taught him well.

00:28:50.700 --> 00:28:56.700
Eddie's dad was someone who started the movement in South Africa.

00:28:56.700 --> 00:29:02.700
He's got four generations behind him that have enriched his life.

00:29:02.700 --> 00:29:05.700
It becomes much easier for him, far more difficult for us.

00:29:05.700 --> 00:29:08.700
But what if we had a combination of both?

00:29:08.700 --> 00:29:14.700
What if Vedisha and Vivek bring up... where's that girl?

00:29:14.700 --> 00:29:16.700
Mia.

00:29:16.700 --> 00:29:26.700
Just imagine the quality that someone else will be dealing with when they deal with Mia, having parents that have given her such a rich heritage.

00:29:26.700 --> 00:29:28.700
That's how this works.

00:29:28.700 --> 00:29:30.700
It's a huge advantage.

00:29:37.700 --> 00:29:46.700
Next thing we need to understand is all can be sons or all are or can be sons in a house.

00:29:46.700 --> 00:29:49.700
And again, we talked about this in length last week.

00:29:49.700 --> 00:29:51.700
So we're going to talk about this in detail.

00:29:51.700 --> 00:29:56.700
All are or can be sons in a house.

00:29:56.700 --> 00:29:58.700
And again, we talked about this in length last week.

00:29:58.700 --> 00:30:00.700
So I can't recap it.

00:30:00.700 --> 00:30:02.700
You'll have to go listen to it.

00:30:02.700 --> 00:30:10.700
But not all have the maturity to walk as fathers.

00:30:16.700 --> 00:30:19.700
Not all have the maturity to walk as fathers.

00:30:19.700 --> 00:30:30.700
So if you have premature sons, trying to be fathers is dangerous.

00:30:30.700 --> 00:30:33.700
And it can happen in a church like this.

00:30:33.700 --> 00:30:36.700
It can happen at Acts 29.

00:30:36.700 --> 00:30:39.700
So we've got to be careful that that doesn't happen.

00:30:39.700 --> 00:30:42.700
I just want to spend a little bit of time talking about that.

00:30:42.700 --> 00:30:49.700
So everybody here, in the eyes of God and in the context of the order that a household is built in,

00:30:49.700 --> 00:30:53.700
remember, God calls a church a household, a family.

00:30:53.700 --> 00:30:55.700
Not like a family, a family.

00:30:55.700 --> 00:31:03.700
And so everybody has the right to be a son, can be a son, but not everybody walks in maturity.

00:31:03.700 --> 00:31:10.700
And so not all can say, ah, this father-son thing is really good, so I'm going to try and see who I can raise.

00:31:10.700 --> 00:31:12.700
No, not until you get to a place of maturity.

00:31:12.700 --> 00:31:16.700
An infant who is feeding on milk cannot raise children.

00:31:16.700 --> 00:31:21.700
An adolescent who's walking in carnality cannot father a child.

00:31:21.700 --> 00:31:24.700
That's why we don't send our 14-year-olds to get married.

00:31:24.700 --> 00:31:27.700
Oh, you're 14 now. You should be active.

00:31:27.700 --> 00:31:30.700
You can produce a child. Off you go, son, and get married.

00:31:30.700 --> 00:31:34.700
We don't do that because it needs to get to a place of maturity.

00:31:35.700 --> 00:31:44.700
But it is ones that have, over a period of time, learned how to walk in the ways of God that can now raise others.

00:31:44.700 --> 00:31:47.700
Adolescents who are immature or carnal must not raise children.

00:31:47.700 --> 00:31:49.700
What's carnality?

00:31:50.700 --> 00:32:10.700
Carnality is when believers have gotten accustomed to living in the world and in the kingdom,

00:32:10.700 --> 00:32:23.700
where unlike Daniel, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, you eat what is laid on the table.

00:32:23.700 --> 00:32:28.700
That's in Daniel 1.8.

00:32:28.700 --> 00:32:32.700
Paul talks about this in Romans.

00:32:32.700 --> 00:32:37.700
Here's the basic bottom line.

00:32:37.700 --> 00:32:55.700
There is no participation in divine assignments without holiness.

00:32:55.700 --> 00:33:19.700
One of the best scriptures that illustrates this is 2 Timothy 2, 20 to 22.

00:33:25.700 --> 00:33:31.700
I'll read it from the message.

00:33:31.700 --> 00:33:34.700
2 Timothy 2, 20 to 22.

00:33:34.700 --> 00:33:43.700
In a well-furnished kitchen, there are not only crystal goblets and silver platters, but waste cans and compost buckets.

00:33:43.700 --> 00:33:48.700
Some containers used to serve fine meals, others to take out the garbage.

00:33:48.700 --> 00:33:56.700
Become the kind of container God can use to present any and every kind of gift to his guests for their blessing.

00:33:56.700 --> 00:33:59.700
Run away from infantile indulgence.

00:33:59.700 --> 00:34:06.700
Run after mature righteousness, faith, love, peace, joining those who are honest and serious.

00:34:06.700 --> 00:34:10.700
Joining those who are in honest and serious prayer before God.

00:34:10.700 --> 00:34:14.700
It doesn't say that you have to be a crystal goblet or that you have to be a compost bucket.

00:34:14.700 --> 00:34:20.700
You have to be clean though so that he can use you any which way he wants.

00:34:20.700 --> 00:34:25.700
So it's not about being some high class vessel compared to a low class vessel.

00:34:25.700 --> 00:34:32.700
It's that, hey, can you be clean so that if he wants you to be useful recycling, that's who you are.

00:34:32.700 --> 00:34:35.700
If he wants you to be a crystal goblet, that's what you drink out of.

00:34:35.700 --> 00:34:41.700
But it's not possible without this bit, and we've talked about that quite a lot.

00:34:41.700 --> 00:34:46.700
Any questions before I...here's the thing guys, maturity is best determined by fathers.

00:34:46.700 --> 00:34:49.700
Maturity is best determined by fathers.

00:34:49.700 --> 00:34:51.700
Maturity.

00:34:51.700 --> 00:34:55.700
And when I say father, it's not a gender term, it's a genderless term.

00:34:55.700 --> 00:34:57.700
Yeah, we talked about that.

00:34:57.700 --> 00:35:08.700
Maturity is best determined by fathers in the wisdom of the Spirit.

00:35:08.700 --> 00:35:15.700
In the wisdom of the Holy Spirit.

00:35:15.700 --> 00:35:23.700
And when fathers vacate this responsibility, when fathers vacate this responsibility,

00:35:23.700 --> 00:35:29.700
you end up...how do you vacate the responsibility?

00:35:29.700 --> 00:35:37.700
You choose coddling or you choose favoritism instead of training.

00:35:37.700 --> 00:35:46.700
When you do that, when you vacate the responsibility of determining the maturity of your sons,

00:35:46.700 --> 00:36:01.700
then you end up having immature heads of families.

00:36:01.700 --> 00:36:04.700
Galatians 4.1 talks about it.

00:36:04.700 --> 00:36:08.700
If you go to Galatians 4.1, it outlines it so brilliantly.

00:36:08.700 --> 00:36:12.700
Galatians 4.1.

00:36:13.700 --> 00:36:15.700
This is what I mean.

00:36:15.700 --> 00:36:20.700
One must provide scripture to understand that there is a pattern.

00:36:20.700 --> 00:36:26.700
If you don't provide scripture, you'll have to then force it with persuasive words.

00:36:26.700 --> 00:36:34.700
Galatians 4, verse 1.

00:36:34.700 --> 00:36:41.700
I'll start at verse 20 because it touches on...no, I'll start at chapter 3, verse 26.

00:36:41.700 --> 00:36:45.700
You are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus.

00:36:45.700 --> 00:36:49.700
For all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourself with Christ.

00:36:49.700 --> 00:36:53.700
There is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor female.

00:36:53.700 --> 00:36:55.700
I absolutely believe that.

00:36:55.700 --> 00:36:57.700
For you are all one in Christ Jesus.

00:36:57.700 --> 00:37:01.700
Then it goes on to say, if you belong to Christ, and this goes back to the promise given to Abraham,

00:37:01.700 --> 00:37:06.700
if you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham's seed and heirs according to the promise.

00:37:06.700 --> 00:37:08.700
Crazy, eh? 4,000 years ago.

00:37:08.700 --> 00:37:10.700
And then, chapter 4, verse 1.

00:37:10.700 --> 00:37:15.700
What I'm saying is this, that as long as the heir is a child, he is no different from a slave,

00:37:15.700 --> 00:37:17.700
although he owns the whole estate.

00:37:17.700 --> 00:37:21.700
He is subject to guardians and trustees until the time set by the father.

00:37:21.700 --> 00:37:27.700
They intend there being...listen, fathers know the maturity of a child.

00:37:27.700 --> 00:37:33.700
And they must, with the help of the Holy Spirit, encourage open doors, correct train,

00:37:33.700 --> 00:37:39.700
but not coddle and not avoid confrontation of show favoritism.

00:37:39.700 --> 00:37:42.700
It's not an easy job. Ask anybody who's a parent.

00:37:42.700 --> 00:37:47.700
Especially with a parent with two kids. Two kids that are close in age.

00:37:52.700 --> 00:37:54.700
Any questions?

00:37:58.700 --> 00:38:00.700
Cool.

00:38:00.700 --> 00:38:05.700
So, what we are saying is everyone is treated the same,

00:38:05.700 --> 00:38:08.700
because we saw in scriptures that everyone is a son.

00:38:08.700 --> 00:38:10.700
Everyone is treated the same.

00:38:12.700 --> 00:38:17.700
But responsibility, and aspire for this, guys. This is what we were born for.

00:38:17.700 --> 00:38:20.700
We are supposed to be Psalm 48 people.

00:38:20.700 --> 00:38:22.700
What does it say in Psalm 48?

00:38:22.700 --> 00:38:25.700
That the sons will stand in the place of their fathers.

00:38:25.700 --> 00:38:32.700
That a time came when Joseph had to be carried by his sons to be buried in Egypt.

00:38:32.700 --> 00:38:35.700
Sorry, in the promised land. He had to be taken from Egypt.

00:38:35.700 --> 00:38:39.700
There was a time that came when Abraham had to be buried. Isaac had to be buried.

00:38:39.700 --> 00:38:43.700
It's the sons that do that and they continue what was given to them.

00:38:45.700 --> 00:38:47.700
So, aspire for it.

00:38:47.700 --> 00:38:51.700
There should be nobody here who is not able to do it.

00:38:53.700 --> 00:38:55.700
If we don't, it's because we make a choice.

00:38:55.700 --> 00:38:58.700
And a choice...my sister says this about me.

00:38:58.700 --> 00:39:01.700
Jacob, you're the most self-centered person I've met.

00:39:01.700 --> 00:39:02.700
Why does she say that?

00:39:02.700 --> 00:39:07.700
Because she's surprised at how content and happy I am and how much I like myself.

00:39:10.700 --> 00:39:12.700
You don't want to be that.

00:39:13.700 --> 00:39:19.700
To die a Christian that lived a good life and had everything for himself

00:39:19.700 --> 00:39:24.700
and went to heaven isn't much of Christianity.

00:39:32.700 --> 00:39:38.700
Everyone is treated the same, but responsibility...

00:39:42.700 --> 00:39:46.700
But responsibility...

00:39:49.700 --> 00:39:56.700
is given as a result of testing.

00:39:57.700 --> 00:40:01.700
So here are some tests that you should expect to be subjected to.

00:40:01.700 --> 00:40:03.700
First, the test of maturity.

00:40:03.700 --> 00:40:05.700
The test of maturity.

00:40:06.700 --> 00:40:08.700
The test of maturity.

00:40:09.700 --> 00:40:14.700
And here are the questions one must ask when you check someone's maturity.

00:40:14.700 --> 00:40:19.700
Is the person walking in a way that is spiritually sound or is it carnal?

00:40:19.700 --> 00:40:25.700
Does the person find it easy to submit to the principles and the arrangements of God?

00:40:25.700 --> 00:40:30.700
Is the person committed or is it a fair-weather Christian?

00:40:30.700 --> 00:40:32.700
Is the person principled?

00:40:32.700 --> 00:40:37.700
Is the person passionate in their understanding and knowledge of how God works?

00:40:39.700 --> 00:40:41.700
Test of maturity.

00:40:41.700 --> 00:40:43.700
Next, test of time.

00:40:47.700 --> 00:40:49.700
Let me pick names and put them in.

00:40:49.700 --> 00:40:54.700
And trust me, every name I pick, I'll pick only if I'm sure that it doesn't apply to them, yeah?

00:40:54.700 --> 00:40:56.700
So I'm not trying to make you feel guilty.

00:40:56.700 --> 00:40:57.700
Test of time.

00:40:57.700 --> 00:40:59.700
Relationships take time.

00:40:59.700 --> 00:41:01.700
It's proven over years.

00:41:01.700 --> 00:41:04.700
Not by gifting, not by an event.

00:41:04.700 --> 00:41:10.700
When Thuny came to this church, I knew he came as a pastor who was more educated than all of us.

00:41:10.700 --> 00:41:15.700
I also knew he was a worship leader and that he was a pastor at another church.

00:41:15.700 --> 00:41:22.700
But one of the things I made sure when he came here was neither his gift nor his ability will find any room in this church.

00:41:22.700 --> 00:41:29.700
And if he and Anilay still want to be here after six months of not leading worship, then perhaps we'll try them out.

00:41:30.700 --> 00:41:32.700
Relationships are built over time.

00:41:33.700 --> 00:41:38.700
And so for six months, they would finish the service there, come here, famous worship leader who writes songs.

00:41:38.700 --> 00:41:40.700
You know how famous he is, right?

00:41:40.700 --> 00:41:45.700
And he used to wear a, yeah, like a worship leader outfit and all.

00:41:45.700 --> 00:41:49.700
And he would come and he would just sit there for six months.

00:41:49.700 --> 00:42:05.700
Because the intent was the test of time is can relationship be built and can you not prove people just because they have a gifting or because there's a singular event that distinguishes them?

00:42:06.700 --> 00:42:07.700
Any questions?

00:42:12.700 --> 00:42:13.700
No?

00:42:13.700 --> 00:42:14.700
Okay.

00:42:14.700 --> 00:42:15.700
Test of vision.

00:42:15.700 --> 00:42:17.700
Test of vision.

00:42:19.700 --> 00:42:20.700
Test of vision.

00:42:22.700 --> 00:42:40.700
If you can't fully relate to the vision the church or the leader has,

00:42:40.700 --> 00:42:56.700
you will not perpetuate or increase it or increase what you inherit.

00:43:02.700 --> 00:43:03.700
You cannot.

00:43:03.700 --> 00:43:04.700
You cannot.

00:43:05.700 --> 00:43:07.700
The test of vision is important.

00:43:09.700 --> 00:43:22.700
So does Sheldon know the vision both of this house, the vision that God gave me for this church when it was first founded, the vision that has progressed over the years, the vision that has been given to the leaders of the church?

00:43:22.700 --> 00:43:23.700
Does he know it?

00:43:23.700 --> 00:43:28.700
And if he doesn't know it, then he might be a great leader, great pianist.

00:43:28.700 --> 00:43:29.700
He might disciple people well.

00:43:29.700 --> 00:43:36.700
But the inheritance that this church has received will never be perpetuated through him because he has no desire for it.

00:43:37.700 --> 00:43:43.700
And so the first thing you have to articulate is does Sheldon even know what it is?

00:43:44.700 --> 00:43:48.700
And if we went around this church, you'd get different parts and we can put the elephant together.

00:43:48.700 --> 00:43:56.700
But wouldn't it be great if each one of us could have an individual elephant so we have a herd?

00:44:02.700 --> 00:44:03.700
One of my uncles had an elephant.

00:44:03.700 --> 00:44:04.700
Those things eat a lot.

00:44:14.700 --> 00:44:23.700
And when you, part of the test of the vision is do you have the ability to endure with faith and have a breakthrough spirit?

00:44:23.700 --> 00:44:26.700
Because no vision comes to pass over two years, three years, four years.

00:44:26.700 --> 00:44:32.700
Most people amend their vision, amend what God has given them, because we are measured by success.

00:44:33.700 --> 00:44:35.700
A vision takes time.

00:44:37.700 --> 00:44:39.700
It's crazy, eh?

00:44:39.700 --> 00:44:44.700
I hate the fact that Christianity is instant Christianity.

00:44:44.700 --> 00:44:46.700
It's not supposed to be that way.

00:44:46.700 --> 00:44:50.700
It has the same outworkings of a baby.

00:44:51.700 --> 00:44:59.700
You might look at your child and say, hmm, doctor, he's going to take a lot of money and a lot of time.

00:45:01.700 --> 00:45:03.700
Mad comics had this, eh?

00:45:03.700 --> 00:45:07.700
They would show what a parent saw the child as and then what the child would become.

00:45:07.700 --> 00:45:09.700
Hmm, baseball pitcher.

00:45:09.700 --> 00:45:14.700
And then they show him in Wrigley Field throwing peanuts at people because he's a vendor.

00:45:14.700 --> 00:45:19.700
So there's this whole series in Mad Comics about this.

00:45:19.700 --> 00:45:21.700
Mad Comics was before your time.

00:45:21.700 --> 00:45:24.700
Mad Comics would be boomer generation, yeah?

00:45:25.700 --> 00:45:29.700
So the point being, vision takes time to pass.

00:45:34.700 --> 00:45:36.700
It takes time for it to manifest.

00:45:36.700 --> 00:45:43.700
It takes years and the only way you can deal with it is through endurance, joyful faith, and breakthrough spirit.

00:45:43.700 --> 00:45:45.700
Endurance, joyful faith, breakthrough spirit.

00:45:45.700 --> 00:45:47.700
Imagine being Joseph.

00:45:48.700 --> 00:45:50.700
That would have been a bummer.

00:45:50.700 --> 00:45:57.700
You see things when you're 15 and 16, and then for the next 16 years, you see the inside of prisons.

00:46:00.700 --> 00:46:02.700
But it says, the word of the Lord tested him.

00:46:02.700 --> 00:46:04.700
Psalm 105, verse 17.

00:46:04.700 --> 00:46:06.700
The word of the Lord tested him.

00:46:06.700 --> 00:46:08.700
Stick with it, man.

00:46:08.700 --> 00:46:10.700
Subin's putting a bike together.

00:46:10.700 --> 00:46:12.700
I mean, he's not putting a bike together.

00:46:12.700 --> 00:46:16.700
He's hiring bonded labor and making them put the bike together.

00:46:18.700 --> 00:46:26.700
But the point is, you should see that bike when it came and now where it is and how the engine is being stripped down.

00:46:27.700 --> 00:46:37.700
A day will come when he will look at it with such pride and he'll find Ashi's lying down on one side and Jonathan, both of them have given up the ghost tent.

00:46:37.700 --> 00:46:47.700
But he will look at his bike with great pride and Shikha will look at it and say, shrug her shoulders and walk away.

00:46:48.700 --> 00:46:51.700
But vision takes time to come to pass, eh?

00:46:57.700 --> 00:47:02.700
I think, is Ashish here today?

00:47:02.700 --> 00:47:09.700
I saw you sitting in a jacket, just sitting there holding the engine while poor Jonathan was in his t-shirt working away.

00:47:09.700 --> 00:47:11.700
Could you explain that, Ashish?

00:47:11.700 --> 00:47:14.700
Oh, okay.

00:47:14.700 --> 00:47:17.700
You and Derek should get together.

00:47:17.700 --> 00:47:19.700
You guys do great supervision.

00:47:19.700 --> 00:47:23.700
The next one is the test of family.

00:47:23.700 --> 00:47:25.700
Test of family.

00:47:25.700 --> 00:47:30.700
These are tests that if you don't pass, you cannot come into a place of maturity.

00:47:30.700 --> 00:47:33.700
These are tests that I had to go through.

00:47:33.700 --> 00:47:36.700
These are tests that the leaders of your churches had to go through.

00:47:36.700 --> 00:47:45.700
These are tests that Derek had to go through, Don had to go through, Sheldon and Jane had to go through, Gillian had to go through, May had to go through, Iris and Kez are going through.

00:47:45.700 --> 00:47:51.700
And whoever else I left out, Tulian and I had to go through.

00:47:51.700 --> 00:47:53.700
These are tests they've gone through.

00:47:53.700 --> 00:47:55.700
The test of the family is simple.

00:47:55.700 --> 00:47:57.700
We are not devoted to a person.

00:47:57.700 --> 00:47:59.700
We are devoted to the strength of the family.

00:47:59.700 --> 00:48:08.700
When people get devoted to a person at the expense of relating to the rest of the family, then it becomes exactly what 1 Corinthians 3 talks about.

00:48:08.700 --> 00:48:09.700
Who is Paul?

00:48:09.700 --> 00:48:10.700
Who is a prophet?

00:48:10.700 --> 00:48:11.700
Who is a prophet?

00:48:11.700 --> 00:48:12.700
Who is a prophet?

00:48:12.700 --> 00:48:15.700
1 Corinthians 3 talks about who is Paul?

00:48:15.700 --> 00:48:16.700
Who is Apollos?

00:48:16.700 --> 00:48:17.700
Who is Seifus?

00:48:17.700 --> 00:48:21.700
Aren't we all gardeners in the same vineyard?

00:48:21.700 --> 00:48:25.700
Why have you divided Christ when he's not divided?

00:48:25.700 --> 00:48:30.700
And so that becomes what happens when suddenly the strength of the family is not important.

00:48:30.700 --> 00:48:34.700
It is I'm devoted to this person.

00:48:34.700 --> 00:48:35.700
That's not maturity.

00:48:35.700 --> 00:48:43.700
This is big time immaturity.

00:48:43.700 --> 00:48:47.700
Because these are the men and women who are supposed to birth families.

00:48:47.700 --> 00:48:53.700
Isaacs that give birth to Jacobs that give birth to tribes.

00:48:53.700 --> 00:48:55.700
Who are we talking to?

00:48:55.700 --> 00:48:58.700
We're talking to us so that we model this.

00:48:58.700 --> 00:48:59.700
Here's the thing, guys.

00:48:59.700 --> 00:49:10.700
Anything that we read and know as the truth, if modeled, will in this present time become visible.

00:49:10.700 --> 00:49:15.700
But two, three years from now, it'll be established truth.

00:49:15.700 --> 00:49:18.700
It'll be it'll be inviolable.

00:49:18.700 --> 00:49:23.700
I don't know how many of you were alive when iPhone 3 came out.

00:49:23.700 --> 00:49:25.700
Not many.

00:49:25.700 --> 00:49:30.700
But it was like a generational revolution.

00:49:30.700 --> 00:49:34.700
And iPhone 17 still carries some of the same stuff.

00:49:34.700 --> 00:49:37.700
Only they keep adding more cameras and increase the memory.

00:49:37.700 --> 00:49:42.700
That's all.

00:49:42.700 --> 00:49:44.700
But the base platform was established.

00:49:44.700 --> 00:49:49.700
Now it's established.

00:49:49.700 --> 00:49:51.700
And once the truth is established, it begins to spread.

00:49:51.700 --> 00:49:54.700
Where is Blackberry?

00:49:54.700 --> 00:49:59.700
Who else has Samsung other than Don?

00:49:59.700 --> 00:50:02.700
Other than Don and Subin?

00:50:02.700 --> 00:50:04.700
Other than Don and Subin and George?

00:50:04.700 --> 00:50:09.700
Okay, let's stop this.

00:50:09.700 --> 00:50:10.700
Test of family.

00:50:10.700 --> 00:50:14.700
Test of family, it is not devotion to a person, but a distinctive family.

00:50:14.700 --> 00:50:19.700
A person may lead you, but it is the family of fathers, mothers, sons, and daughters that strengthens you.

00:50:19.700 --> 00:50:22.700
A person may lead you, but the family strengthens you.

00:50:22.700 --> 00:50:25.700
Efficience 416 clearly says that.

00:50:25.700 --> 00:50:40.700
It says in Efficience 416 that from him the whole body joined and held together by every supporting ligament grows and builds itself up in love as each part does its work.

00:50:40.700 --> 00:50:49.700
When I get attached to one person and I do not consider what you have to say, that ain't maturity.

00:50:52.700 --> 00:51:00.700
Test of identity.

00:51:00.700 --> 00:51:24.700
Initially, sons, when I say sons again it's a genderless term, sons look, sound, act like the ones or the fathers they imitate.

00:51:24.700 --> 00:51:45.700
Eventually, as in a few years, eventually the call, purpose, and operation becomes distinct.

00:51:45.700 --> 00:51:54.700
But the heart, vision, desire remain.

00:51:54.700 --> 00:52:04.700
Don't be ashamed of this is a silly thing that's come out.

00:52:04.700 --> 00:52:07.700
Oh, we don't follow man, we follow God.

00:52:07.700 --> 00:52:11.700
Stop it.

00:52:11.700 --> 00:52:15.700
It's an absurd statement.

00:52:15.700 --> 00:52:17.700
Your children follow you.

00:52:17.700 --> 00:52:21.700
You follow your boss at work.

00:52:21.700 --> 00:52:24.700
You follow the mechanic who teaches you.

00:52:24.700 --> 00:52:27.700
You follow the driving instructor.

00:52:27.700 --> 00:52:28.700
You follow the weatherman.

00:52:28.700 --> 00:52:36.700
You follow Anderson on CNN and Hannity on Fox.

00:52:36.700 --> 00:52:43.700
And then to pontificate that we don't follow man, we follow God is nonsense.

00:52:43.700 --> 00:52:51.700
The way God has ordained thing is that there will be equipers to equip you and their job is to equip you to depend on God.

00:52:51.700 --> 00:53:00.700
But if you don't want to depend on man, you ain't going to get to God because the Holy Spirit isn't visible yet.

00:53:00.700 --> 00:53:06.700
Like a little child said when she was scared of the dark and the parent came and prayed for the child and says, don't worry, Jesus is here.

00:53:06.700 --> 00:53:10.700
And the child said, mama, but I want someone with flesh on them.

00:53:10.700 --> 00:53:15.700
Because otherwise it doesn't help to have Jesus there if you don't have flesh.

00:53:15.700 --> 00:53:20.700
Would be great if parents can just go and tell the child, stop crying, Jesus is here.

00:53:20.700 --> 00:53:25.700
Doesn't work.

00:53:25.700 --> 00:53:33.700
In the beginning, we imitate people that we think have an interest in us and that's how we grow.

00:53:33.700 --> 00:53:39.700
And they must be responsible enough to shift us to God.

00:53:39.700 --> 00:53:50.700
I had to just to you that the ones that our fathers, our elders here are not interested in their own kingdoms.

00:53:50.700 --> 00:53:55.700
If they were, they would have made it by now.

00:53:55.700 --> 00:54:00.700
Some sons are deceptive. They have the smell and the feel, but not the voice.

00:54:00.700 --> 00:54:05.700
You read that story in Genesis 27, the one I was talking to Mira about where some sons are deceptive.

00:54:05.700 --> 00:54:10.700
They know how to talk the talk. They even know how to do certain things, but they really don't have the ability.

00:54:10.700 --> 00:54:13.700
When Paul was here, Paul from South Africa was here.

00:54:13.700 --> 00:54:17.700
He visited a church where there was someone who had been connected to this church for a while.

00:54:17.700 --> 00:54:20.700
And Paul came back and he said this to me, Jacob, tell me something.

00:54:20.700 --> 00:54:23.700
Does that guy have any connection with you guys?

00:54:23.700 --> 00:54:29.700
Because there's nothing about him when you're not around that even remotely looks like Acts 29.

00:54:29.700 --> 00:54:37.700
I was surprised because you can have a deceptive voice, sorry, a deceptive smell.

00:54:37.700 --> 00:54:42.700
And you may know the words just like he saw, just like Jacob tricked.

00:54:42.700 --> 00:54:45.700
He saw this is important, guys.

00:54:45.700 --> 00:54:52.700
If I came and scooped water out of you and you and you and you, the glass can look different,

00:54:52.700 --> 00:54:56.700
but the taste and the content of the water should be the same.

00:54:56.700 --> 00:54:58.700
And it should be drawn from the word.

00:55:04.700 --> 00:55:08.700
The style will be different. The personalities will be different.

00:55:08.700 --> 00:55:12.700
The purpose and the call will be different. But the water must taste the same.

00:55:16.700 --> 00:55:21.700
Do Maya and Isaiah look like Nishan and Shireen? Look at them.

00:55:26.700 --> 00:55:28.700
Everyone's looking at you.

00:55:37.700 --> 00:55:46.700
I don't know whether to be, whether to shrink and feel kind of ashamed or beat my chest and do a Tarzan

00:55:46.700 --> 00:55:55.700
when someone comes and tells me, hey, Don came or Jillian came or Heidi came and they spoke and it reminded me a few.

00:55:56.700 --> 00:56:01.700
I don't know whether to, Kriiga Bandola, that's what Tarzan says.

00:56:01.700 --> 00:56:04.700
But I don't know whether to do that.

00:56:05.700 --> 00:56:11.700
That's not exactly what he says, but when you spell it out, it sounds like Kriiga Bandola.

00:56:11.700 --> 00:56:16.700
I had a friend when I was young, he would take whatever the words were in the comic and he would use them.

00:56:16.700 --> 00:56:23.700
So he would go instead of going, he would go, because it was U R R G H, but it's not important.

00:56:23.700 --> 00:56:29.700
So he would just take it exactly as it's written in the comic and he would say it.

00:56:29.700 --> 00:56:35.700
But the point being this, that I don't know whether to shrink back and feel, oh, no, no, no, don't say stuff like that.

00:56:35.700 --> 00:56:39.700
We don't follow man. Or whether I feel proud when I hear that.

00:56:41.700 --> 00:56:49.700
How do you feel if they came and told you Subin that Danny is an amazing dancer like you?

00:56:53.700 --> 00:56:56.700
Right? It's pick on Subin day.

00:57:00.700 --> 00:57:08.700
Next one. Test of the proceeding word. Test of the proceeding word.

00:57:08.700 --> 00:57:12.700
We won't finish this today. I never finish things.

00:57:13.700 --> 00:57:17.700
Test of the proceeding, Janelle took very long. Test of the proceeding word.

00:57:17.700 --> 00:57:19.700
Test of the proceeding word.

00:57:21.700 --> 00:57:28.700
Does the father, does the father have a proceeding word?

00:57:28.700 --> 00:57:30.700
I'll explain it after I write it.

00:57:30.700 --> 00:57:35.700
Does the father have a proceeding word in the present?

00:57:35.700 --> 00:57:47.700
Does the father have a proceeding word that positions the son for future destiny?

00:57:47.700 --> 00:58:05.700
Does the father have a proceeding word anchored in his heritage, supplied by his inheritance?

00:58:05.700 --> 00:58:12.700
Beautiful. I love the way this line brings out everything that needs to be brought up.

00:58:12.700 --> 00:58:16.700
Just look at it. Test of the proceeding word. What is the proceeding word?

00:58:16.700 --> 00:58:20.700
A proceeding word is the word that comes from the mouth of God at present for you.

00:58:20.700 --> 00:58:24.700
It carries in it the grace you require for today and tomorrow.

00:58:24.700 --> 00:58:27.700
It's not something you received when you got baptized.

00:58:27.700 --> 00:58:33.700
It's not a dream you saw 14 years ago that you're still hoping will come to pass.

00:58:33.700 --> 00:58:35.700
No problem with hoping that.

00:58:35.700 --> 00:58:38.700
But a proceeding word is what Deuteronomy 8 talks about.

00:58:38.700 --> 00:58:44.700
It says, man shall not live by bread alone but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.

00:58:44.700 --> 00:58:55.700
As in what is the present word that God is speaking over your life that gives you the grace required for what he might be doing tomorrow in August?

00:58:55.700 --> 00:58:59.700
Gives you the grace required for the present situation you're in?

00:58:59.700 --> 00:59:01.700
That is the proceeding word.

00:59:01.700 --> 00:59:06.700
It is what is relevant now, current now, for you now.

00:59:06.700 --> 00:59:10.700
It sets you up for tomorrow because God knows your tomorrow.

00:59:10.700 --> 00:59:12.700
What is the proceeding word?

00:59:12.700 --> 00:59:22.700
And one of the responsibilities of spiritual fathers or ministry fathers or whatever term you want to use is to be able to hover over Mark Butler and say,

00:59:22.700 --> 00:59:27.700
this is the proceeding word of God for you.

00:59:27.700 --> 00:59:29.700
And what does it carry?

00:59:29.700 --> 00:59:34.700
On one hand, it carries where you are at the present.

00:59:34.700 --> 00:59:38.700
It then helps you propel into the future.

00:59:38.700 --> 00:59:42.700
But it anchors you to the heritage that you belong to.

00:59:42.700 --> 00:59:49.700
And the inheritance you receive supplies you to give you the seed to start with.

00:59:49.700 --> 01:00:00.700
If any of these guys leave, let's say Derek, who at present is running Bethkabo, let's say next Sunday we decide, Derek, it's time for you to take Bethkabo and start afresh.

01:00:00.700 --> 01:00:04.700
Not as part of Acts 29 but as a separate body.

01:00:04.700 --> 01:00:06.700
So Derek goes off.

01:00:06.700 --> 01:00:08.700
But there'll be a word over it, Derek.

01:00:08.700 --> 01:00:11.700
This is what Bethkabo is supposed to do.

01:00:11.700 --> 01:00:13.700
It will anchor him to this heritage.

01:00:13.700 --> 01:00:19.700
You asked that boy, I heard him in Shillong, how he said everything he's learned, he's learned here.

01:00:19.700 --> 01:00:22.700
There's so much of what was in my life is now his.

01:00:22.700 --> 01:00:24.700
He's anchored in his heritage.

01:00:24.700 --> 01:00:31.700
But he also has the inheritance that we will give him, saying, as you go forth here, I bless you with this, I bless you with that.

01:00:31.700 --> 01:00:33.700
I send this guy with you.

01:00:33.700 --> 01:00:34.700
I give you this.

01:00:34.700 --> 01:00:35.700
Take and go.

01:00:35.700 --> 01:00:37.700
That's how people are sent off when they are sent off.

01:00:37.700 --> 01:00:46.700
Some of the South Asian, Asian and African cultures that send people off when they get married with blessings is rich.

01:00:46.700 --> 01:00:52.700
You start off not by having a, what do you call that, bridal register?

01:00:52.700 --> 01:00:55.700
No such registry.

01:00:55.700 --> 01:01:02.700
You have camels and buffaloes loaded with stuff that you take to your new home.

01:01:02.700 --> 01:01:07.700
That's how it's supposed to happen.

01:01:07.700 --> 01:01:10.700
But do you know the proceeding word over you?

01:01:10.700 --> 01:01:18.700
And if you pay close attention and go ask Prosper or go ask Sheldon or go ask Tooney or go ask many other people here,

01:01:18.700 --> 01:01:24.700
you will find that there were words that revealed what has to happen now and has to happen tomorrow.

01:01:24.700 --> 01:01:36.700
The question is, do I now have the faith and the ability to walk in the word that was spoken over me or am I always hungering for the next?

01:01:36.700 --> 01:01:47.700
You know, I was looking at Facebook, I think, three weeks or four weeks ago, and remember Aerie, Mark and Rhonda's daughter?

01:01:47.700 --> 01:01:56.700
She was a word over her when we were in Pilgrim that a day will come when she will be involved in some, at some governmental level in Ottawa.

01:01:56.700 --> 01:01:59.700
Guess where she's studying now?

01:01:59.700 --> 01:02:01.700
In Ottawa.

01:02:01.700 --> 01:02:05.700
Those are deliberate choices people make.

01:02:05.700 --> 01:02:11.700
I'm not in touch with the Bergman's at present, but I was so thrilled to know.

01:02:11.700 --> 01:02:20.700
Those are parents that once they recognize what God's given them, they know how to hold it.

01:02:20.700 --> 01:02:22.700
Test of the proceeding word.

01:02:22.700 --> 01:02:27.700
I'll wrap up in three more tests, and we'll do the rest later.

01:02:27.700 --> 01:02:37.700
Any questions on that, guys? Any questions?

01:02:37.700 --> 01:02:40.700
No?

01:02:40.700 --> 01:02:42.700
This must be something that should be bubbling in.

01:02:42.700 --> 01:02:45.700
Guys, we don't prophesy because you need a prophetic word.

01:02:45.700 --> 01:02:55.700
We prophesy because there's something in me or in you that so desires things for the ones you're raising that it is natural.

01:02:55.700 --> 01:02:57.700
Parents don't prophesy over their children.

01:02:57.700 --> 01:03:00.700
Parents express divine desire over their children.

01:03:00.700 --> 01:03:04.700
They don't do it because they suddenly had a spiritual moment.

01:03:04.700 --> 01:03:07.700
They do it because they love their kids.

01:03:07.700 --> 01:03:08.700
That's why they do it.

01:03:08.700 --> 01:03:09.700
It just comes out naturally.

01:03:09.700 --> 01:03:11.700
It doesn't even sound like that says a lot.

01:03:11.700 --> 01:03:15.700
It sounds like, get your backside off the table.

01:03:15.700 --> 01:03:16.700
Go sit and study.

01:03:16.700 --> 01:03:19.700
But by the way, I wanted to tell you that.

01:03:19.700 --> 01:03:24.700
That's how it sounds like.

01:03:24.700 --> 01:03:27.700
It comes because we, because you care.

01:03:27.700 --> 01:03:35.700
That's why it comes.

01:03:35.700 --> 01:03:37.700
Test of authentication.

01:03:37.700 --> 01:03:40.700
Test of authentication.

01:03:40.700 --> 01:03:48.700
Test of authentication.

01:03:48.700 --> 01:03:49.700
Test of authentication.

01:03:49.700 --> 01:03:52.700
Does the father's voice authenticate the son?

01:03:52.700 --> 01:04:02.700
Does the father's voice authenticate the son?

01:04:02.700 --> 01:04:05.700
It happens in Luke 9.35.

01:04:05.700 --> 01:04:07.700
This is my beloved son.

01:04:07.700 --> 01:04:08.700
Listen to him.

01:04:08.700 --> 01:04:09.700
This is my beloved son.

01:04:09.700 --> 01:04:10.700
I'm well pleased.

01:04:10.700 --> 01:04:12.700
Does the father's voice authenticate the son?

01:04:12.700 --> 01:04:16.700
It is important.

01:04:16.700 --> 01:04:22.700
If Jillian comes and tells me about Priyanka or Deshati or Jonathan or let's leave Sen and Joy out,

01:04:22.700 --> 01:04:24.700
they're still a work in progress.

01:04:24.700 --> 01:04:34.700
Or if May comes and tells me about Vivek or Vidisha or Sade, it thrills my heart, man.

01:04:34.700 --> 01:04:41.700
When Tuni comes and tells me about Hip or Nick, it authenticates you.

01:04:41.700 --> 01:04:44.700
There's nothing like the authenticating voice of the father.

01:04:44.700 --> 01:04:51.700
If you're a dad and it is not your habit to authenticate your son, get with it because you will be held accountable for it.

01:04:51.700 --> 01:04:55.700
Many times we don't do it because it was never done for us.

01:04:55.700 --> 01:05:02.700
Start a new cycle.

01:05:02.700 --> 01:05:04.700
We said this last week.

01:05:04.700 --> 01:05:10.700
Orphans can create a barrier so that you keep a healthy distance so that nothing of this happens.

01:05:10.700 --> 01:05:11.700
There's nothing you can do then.

01:05:11.700 --> 01:05:14.700
You can just keep trying.

01:05:14.700 --> 01:05:17.700
Forget sons when wives authenticate their husbands.

01:05:17.700 --> 01:05:32.700
I was sitting with Lenny and Pawan and the way Lenny was talking about Pawan, you would think, who did you marry?

01:05:32.700 --> 01:05:34.700
The authenticating voice of the father is important.

01:05:34.700 --> 01:05:55.700
I'm saying this to both us as sons who will one day mature into fathers and as fathers who are raising other fathers, do this as often as you can.

01:05:55.700 --> 01:05:57.700
Here's the other thing.

01:05:57.700 --> 01:06:01.700
Can I validate how May is raising her sons?

01:06:01.700 --> 01:06:03.700
That matters too.

01:06:03.700 --> 01:06:08.700
Can I validate how May is raising her sons?

01:06:08.700 --> 01:06:14.700
Can I authenticate her?

01:06:14.700 --> 01:06:16.700
Test of the spirit.

01:06:16.700 --> 01:06:23.700
Test of the spirit.

01:06:23.700 --> 01:06:26.700
Does the spirit confirm spiritual growth?

01:06:26.700 --> 01:06:34.700
Does the spirit confirm spiritual growth?

01:06:34.700 --> 01:06:37.700
Does the spirit confirm spiritual growth?

01:06:37.700 --> 01:06:43.700
Is it visible publicly?

01:06:43.700 --> 01:06:55.700
I was scared to say what I said today earlier when these men were standing here and I said four or five months from now, near August, these men who stood here, you will see that their lives will be different.

01:06:55.700 --> 01:06:58.700
What will be the work of the spirit?

01:06:58.700 --> 01:07:02.700
Can the spirit authenticate?

01:07:02.700 --> 01:07:04.700
Sorry, does the spirit confirm spiritual growth?

01:07:04.700 --> 01:07:06.700
Is it visible publicly?

01:07:06.700 --> 01:07:08.700
All growth is visible publicly.

01:07:08.700 --> 01:07:11.700
When Yaya came back from India, she was taller.

01:07:11.700 --> 01:07:20.700
Growth is visible publicly.

01:07:20.700 --> 01:07:29.700
Part of the growth is, this one may sting a little, but that's okay.

01:07:29.700 --> 01:07:32.700
Does the son suffer correction?

01:07:32.700 --> 01:07:38.700
Does the son suffer correction?

01:07:38.700 --> 01:07:42.700
As in can he handle correction?

01:07:42.700 --> 01:07:44.700
Because there is no growth without correction.

01:07:44.700 --> 01:07:48.700
Does the son suffer correction?

01:07:48.700 --> 01:07:51.700
Does the son suffer correction?

01:07:51.700 --> 01:07:55.700
Does she withdraw?

01:07:55.700 --> 01:07:59.700
Does it become a scab that keeps bleeding?

01:07:59.700 --> 01:08:04.700
Does the person lash out?

01:08:04.700 --> 01:08:12.700
Does the person remember and be careful?

01:08:12.700 --> 01:08:19.700
Who are you? And regardless of who you are, change waits for me an hour from now. I can

01:08:23.140 --> 01:08:30.140
be different. Who are you? Any questions?

01:08:42.700 --> 01:08:49.700
Test of hiddenness. Test of hiddenness. These are the things that lead to maturity. How

01:09:02.460 --> 01:09:09.460
do you handle a time of insignificance? How do you handle a time of insignificance as

01:09:10.380 --> 01:09:17.380
you serve in someone's shadow? Who may not be as talented as you? May not be as gifted

01:09:24.900 --> 01:09:31.900
as you. Joseph went through it. Moses went through it. Elisha went through it. And while

01:09:32.900 --> 01:09:39.900
you're doing that, there are satanic attacks. There are satanic attacks. There are seductions

01:09:46.100 --> 01:09:53.100
like happened with Joseph. And you make good choices. You walk with integrity, but nobody

01:09:54.700 --> 01:10:01.700
notices. Nobody gives you a platform. This is the time of the day. This is the time of

01:10:02.460 --> 01:10:09.460
the day. This is one of the hardest things to handle. The other option people have is

01:10:12.580 --> 01:10:19.580
they decide, I'll start my own ministry. I'll do my own thing. That's just a substitution.

01:10:19.580 --> 01:10:25.660
Do you have the ability to stay hidden in someone else's shadow? It's a very hard thing

01:10:25.660 --> 01:10:30.340
to do. I remember when I started working with Teen Challenge, there was a guy called

01:10:30.340 --> 01:10:36.420
Doug Benson. And I went to Teen Challenge because I came out of a drug background and

01:10:36.420 --> 01:10:42.580
I thought, great, I can preach to the addicts that come every evening to the coffee house.

01:10:42.580 --> 01:10:49.580
And so I went there ready to preach. And the guy gives me a broom and a toilet bowl cleaner

01:10:50.580 --> 01:10:55.740
and sends me out to clean the toilets. I thought, oh, this is just because the guy who does

01:10:55.740 --> 01:11:02.740
it today isn't here. But he wasn't there for the next six months. So every week I'd go

01:11:03.980 --> 01:11:10.980
clean the toilets and wipe the floor and then serve soup and something called pumpernickel

01:11:12.220 --> 01:11:17.260
bread. I'd just come from Bahrain. There was no pumpernickel bread in Bahrain. And this

01:11:17.260 --> 01:11:22.220
is what I did for six months. At the end of six months, I no longer had a desire to

01:11:22.220 --> 01:11:26.060
preach. Not that I think I was a preacher. And then after six months, he comes and asks

01:11:26.060 --> 01:11:33.060
me, hey, do you want to preach today? It was like a gift. Before it was entitlement. Six

01:11:34.700 --> 01:11:41.700
months later, it was a gift. It was like, oh, shucks. And then he sent me back again

01:11:42.660 --> 01:11:49.660
to my other job. So can you handle hiddenness? Not everybody can. Most cannot. And the last

01:11:53.380 --> 01:12:00.380
one, tested with opposition. Tested with opposition. How do you handle human opposition and satanic

01:12:00.380 --> 01:12:07.380
adversaries? How do you handle it? When you are mocked, thwarted, intimidated, attacked,

01:12:07.380 --> 01:12:14.380
offended, isolated. When isolation is nice or severe. If you are helpful or helpful,

01:12:37.380 --> 01:12:39.380
As they are 54 17 rises in you.

01:12:39.380 --> 01:12:41.380
As they are 54 17 rises in you.

01:12:41.380 --> 01:12:45.380
As they are 54 17 rises in you. No courtroom like that spoken against you will stand.

01:12:45.380 --> 01:12:48.380
Every weapon that is forged against you, God will destroy.

01:12:48.380 --> 01:12:49.380
This will be your vindication.

01:12:49.380 --> 01:12:51.380
There is a time for the scripture.

01:12:51.380 --> 01:12:55.380
What if God doesn't vindicate you and the courtroom life succeeds?

01:12:55.380 --> 01:12:59.380
Then what do you do?

01:12:59.380 --> 01:13:01.380
Then you go to Hebrews 13.

01:13:01.380 --> 01:13:03.380
What does Hebrews 13 say?

01:13:03.380 --> 01:13:04.380
Be like your master.

01:13:04.380 --> 01:13:07.380
When he was reviled and he was mocked, he did not utter a word.

01:13:07.380 --> 01:13:10.380
But like a sheep being led to the slaughter, he was led to the slaughter.

01:13:10.380 --> 01:13:14.380
What good is it if you suffer for something wrong that you've done?

01:13:14.380 --> 01:13:17.380
There's nothing special about it. Even the world reacts that way.

01:13:17.380 --> 01:13:21.380
But it is something else when you behave like your master.

01:13:21.380 --> 01:13:25.380
And at being treated unfairly, you do not react.

01:13:25.380 --> 01:13:27.380
That's crazy, man.

01:13:27.380 --> 01:13:32.380
And then it says, and then you shall be known as the children of God.

01:13:32.380 --> 01:13:36.380
Any questions? We'll stop for now.

01:13:36.380 --> 01:13:44.380
Any questions?

01:13:44.380 --> 01:13:47.380
Guys, if we don't build these four generations in this church,

01:13:47.380 --> 01:13:54.380
what will happen is each generation will have to start all over again.

01:13:54.380 --> 01:13:56.380
Each generation will have to start all over again.

01:13:56.380 --> 01:13:59.380
And it is so painful.

01:13:59.380 --> 01:14:03.380
And coaches, mentors, spiritual guides cannot do this.

01:14:03.380 --> 01:14:08.380
It's a wonderful movement in the church to have coaches, mentors, and spiritual guides.

01:14:08.380 --> 01:14:15.380
But they will not go past the institutional boundaries set because they cannot.

01:14:15.380 --> 01:14:17.380
They're not allowed to.

01:14:17.380 --> 01:14:21.380
Coaches, mentors, and spiritual guides have to operate within a parameter.

01:14:21.380 --> 01:14:28.380
You do not go beyond that.

01:14:28.380 --> 01:14:30.380
That's not what we are talking about.

01:14:30.380 --> 01:14:32.380
You cannot pass on a legacy.

01:14:32.380 --> 01:14:37.380
Paul puts it so in 1 Corinthians 4, 14 and 15.

01:14:37.380 --> 01:14:40.380
I know you've got tons of spiritual guides and guardians,

01:14:40.380 --> 01:14:44.380
but I want you to know that they can never do what fathers can do.

01:14:44.380 --> 01:14:47.380
And I was your father because of the message I preached to you.

01:14:47.380 --> 01:14:48.380
Just read it quickly.

01:14:48.380 --> 01:14:56.380
1 Corinthians 4?

01:14:57.380 --> 01:15:07.380
Who released?

01:15:07.380 --> 01:15:09.380
1 Corinthians 4, 14, message.

01:15:09.380 --> 01:15:13.380
I'm not writing all this as a neighborhood scold just to make you feel rotten.

01:15:13.380 --> 01:15:15.380
I'm writing as a father to you, my children.

01:15:15.380 --> 01:15:18.380
I love you and want you to grow up well, not spoiled.

01:15:18.380 --> 01:15:22.380
There are a lot of people around who can't wait to tell you what you've done wrong,

01:15:22.380 --> 01:15:26.380
but there aren't many fathers willing to take the time and the effort to help you grow up.

01:15:26.380 --> 01:15:31.380
It was as Jesus helped me proclaim God's message to you that I became your father.

01:15:31.380 --> 01:15:33.380
I'm not asking you to do anything.

01:15:33.380 --> 01:15:35.380
I'm not already doing myself.

01:15:35.380 --> 01:15:37.380
That is why I sent Timothy.

01:15:37.380 --> 01:15:39.380
Beautifully said.

01:15:39.380 --> 01:15:42.380
The strange thing is in the Old Testament, you won't find...

01:15:42.380 --> 01:15:44.380
Help me with this.

01:15:44.380 --> 01:15:50.380
Find any relationship in the Old Testament that went past three generations.

01:15:50.380 --> 01:15:52.380
It's almost a rarity.

01:15:52.380 --> 01:16:00.380
None of the kings, none of the prophets, none of the judges could take it past the second generation or the third.

01:16:00.380 --> 01:16:02.380
You never have a four-generation span.

01:16:02.380 --> 01:16:04.380
The one...

01:16:04.380 --> 01:16:11.380
I mean, guys like David Solomon and Rehoboam, it was an abomination in the end.

01:16:11.380 --> 01:16:14.380
The closest you come is Elijah, Elisha.

01:16:14.380 --> 01:16:17.380
How do you recognize that things are working well?

01:16:17.380 --> 01:16:21.380
Somebody is getting double what they used to have.

01:16:21.380 --> 01:16:29.380
Singular portions are evidence of transfers that weren't right.

01:16:29.380 --> 01:16:33.380
Crazy, eh?

01:16:33.380 --> 01:16:35.380
Let's pray.

01:16:35.380 --> 01:16:37.380
Oy, Emmanuel, I'm preaching.

01:16:37.380 --> 01:16:39.380
Hi.

01:16:39.380 --> 01:16:41.380
Hi.

01:16:41.380 --> 01:16:43.380
Okay, so here's what I want us to do.

01:16:43.380 --> 01:16:46.380
Can we have...

01:16:46.380 --> 01:16:50.380
Just imagine this.

01:16:50.380 --> 01:16:55.380
Take all the 2009ers, as in the ones that almost sounds like Shriners or something.

01:16:55.380 --> 01:17:01.380
2009ers, as in the ones who were here from 2006 to 2009.

01:17:01.380 --> 01:17:04.380
Just imagine that group and me.

01:17:04.380 --> 01:17:07.380
And there were promises received, a mandate given.

01:17:07.380 --> 01:17:14.380
And we then transfer it to Derek and his generation.

01:17:14.380 --> 01:17:18.380
As in the ones that are presently leading it.

01:17:18.380 --> 01:17:22.380
And Derek has this difficult job.

01:17:22.380 --> 01:17:27.380
But in a way, the second generation always knows the cost that the fathers paid.

01:17:27.380 --> 01:17:30.380
So they hold it with respect.

01:17:31.380 --> 01:17:36.380
And so now he transfers it to the Jeremy generation.

01:17:36.380 --> 01:17:38.380
Or whatever.

01:17:38.380 --> 01:17:40.380
I'm just picking on names.

01:17:40.380 --> 01:17:42.380
So these are not age-related.

01:17:42.380 --> 01:17:44.380
The Jeremy generation.

01:17:44.380 --> 01:17:47.380
Jeremy's generation does not know the cost that has been paid.

01:17:47.380 --> 01:17:52.380
And it's usually in the third generation where things can either go weak, diluted, or it can get stronger.

01:17:52.380 --> 01:17:57.380
And then the Jeremy generation passes it on to the Jonathan generation.

01:17:58.380 --> 01:18:06.380
And suddenly you have four generations sharing and multiplying and stewarding the inheritance given to them.

01:18:06.380 --> 01:18:09.380
It just bursts forth, man.

01:18:09.380 --> 01:18:11.380
That's how this is supposed to work.

01:18:11.380 --> 01:18:13.380
And it's not age-dependent.

01:18:13.380 --> 01:18:15.380
It's wave upon wave of people that are coming.

01:18:15.380 --> 01:18:19.380
Please try and embrace it instead of resisting it.

01:18:19.380 --> 01:18:21.380
Because here's the thing.

01:18:21.380 --> 01:18:24.380
If you resist it, all that happens is you miss out on it.

01:18:25.380 --> 01:18:31.380
So I'm going to ask one from each to come up and we'll pray.

01:18:31.380 --> 01:18:36.380
So let's have Sue come out from the 2009ers.

01:18:36.380 --> 01:18:41.380
And Derek come out from the ones after.

01:18:45.380 --> 01:18:47.380
Come, Derek.

01:18:48.380 --> 01:18:59.380
And since I said Jeremy, and Jeremy come out from that, Jen and Evan too, maybe.

01:18:59.380 --> 01:19:01.380
They all came out of that.

01:19:01.380 --> 01:19:12.380
And Jonathan Deshulty from the next one.

01:19:12.380 --> 01:19:17.380
And let's throw in a girl also.

01:19:17.380 --> 01:19:19.380
Let's throw in Anna.

01:19:25.380 --> 01:19:28.380
And can you stand in order, not of height?

01:19:28.380 --> 01:19:31.380
Sue, if you can go to that end.

01:19:31.380 --> 01:19:33.380
I'll just ask Sue to pray.

01:19:33.380 --> 01:19:37.380
Because if you have all of them pray, you won't be out here until seven.

01:19:37.380 --> 01:19:42.380
So I'll ask Sue to pray and then we'll stop.

01:19:42.380 --> 01:19:44.380
So this is how it transfers.

01:19:44.380 --> 01:19:48.380
And I'm very sure that this is one of the responsibilities I have.

01:19:48.380 --> 01:19:51.380
And I have every intent of fulfilling it.

01:19:51.380 --> 01:19:53.380
To not let it go to waste.

01:19:53.380 --> 01:19:57.380
And I'm very sure that this is one of the responsibilities I have.

01:19:57.380 --> 01:20:00.380
And I have every intent of fulfilling it.

01:20:00.380 --> 01:20:03.380
To not fulfill it would be to be held accountable.

01:20:03.380 --> 01:20:05.380
And I don't plan to.

01:20:05.380 --> 01:20:06.380
Yeah.

01:20:06.380 --> 01:20:10.380
So I'm just going to ask Sue to pray.

01:20:10.380 --> 01:20:16.380
So Father, we just praise you because you're a faithful father.

01:20:16.380 --> 01:20:19.380
Thank you for Pastor Jacob.

01:20:19.380 --> 01:20:24.380
Thank you for the tireless hours that he spent on his knees.

01:20:24.380 --> 01:20:30.380
And he sowed whatever you said, asked him to.

01:20:30.380 --> 01:20:37.380
And then we, with your grace, Lord, we were able to pass on to the next generation.

01:20:37.380 --> 01:20:40.380
We just thank you and praise you.

01:20:40.380 --> 01:20:43.380
And may it continue, Lord, for your glory.

01:20:43.380 --> 01:20:46.380
Father, you're the author and finisher of our faith.

01:20:46.380 --> 01:20:51.380
So what you start, you already well know how stories are written.

01:20:51.380 --> 01:20:55.380
And they're ended by you, in you, for you.

01:20:55.380 --> 01:21:00.380
So Father, while we stand here, even though I missed most of the teaching today,

01:21:00.380 --> 01:21:03.380
we look at those who aren't here yet.

01:21:03.380 --> 01:21:07.380
And we look at those who are in the church, who are in the church,

01:21:07.380 --> 01:21:09.380
who are in the church, who are in the church,

01:21:09.380 --> 01:21:13.380
So Father, while we stand here, even though I missed most of the teaching today,

01:21:13.380 --> 01:21:17.380
we look at those who aren't here yet.

01:21:17.380 --> 01:21:20.380
So Father, on one hand, you've given us things to steward,

01:21:20.380 --> 01:21:25.380
and we are rich beneficiaries of what you've given us

01:21:25.380 --> 01:21:32.380
through your framework of fathers and sons that we say yes to as a church.

01:21:32.380 --> 01:21:38.380
And so Father, while that is from you, we hold that and we steward it well.

01:21:38.380 --> 01:21:42.380
And we look at those coming after us, every generation present here,

01:21:42.380 --> 01:21:47.380
which has nothing to do with age, but is everything to do with your heart.

01:21:47.380 --> 01:21:51.380
So Father, we come with hearts that are willing to pour out

01:21:51.380 --> 01:21:56.380
like how those before us poured out their lives for us.

01:21:56.380 --> 01:21:58.380
Father, make us useful for you.

01:21:58.380 --> 01:22:03.380
We want to be vessels that you find useful for your purposes on earth.

01:22:03.380 --> 01:22:08.380
So for one second, Father, we look at those lives that we haven't met yet,

01:22:08.380 --> 01:22:12.380
we haven't seen yet, we haven't shaken their hands yet,

01:22:12.380 --> 01:22:17.380
we haven't had our arms around their shoulders yet,

01:22:17.380 --> 01:22:20.380
but we see those lives that are coming,

01:22:20.380 --> 01:22:25.380
those lives that you will bring into this church, into this body.

01:22:25.380 --> 01:22:29.380
And we recognize that our lives are beyond ourselves,

01:22:29.380 --> 01:22:32.380
that our lives are for your purposes, for your people.

01:22:32.380 --> 01:22:36.380
So we welcome them in Jesus' name. Amen.

01:22:41.380 --> 01:22:44.380
Father, you've called us to build generationally,

01:22:44.380 --> 01:22:48.380
so each generation after the next can get stronger and stronger.

01:22:48.380 --> 01:22:52.380
We have built well from the beginning, but you're saying it's not,

01:22:52.380 --> 01:22:54.380
that's not all I have, so I have so much more.

01:22:54.380 --> 01:23:01.380
So as eight or so of us stand here, as Derek said, there's others we haven't met.

01:23:01.380 --> 01:23:04.380
And I have so much to pour into them, so much more,

01:23:04.380 --> 01:23:07.380
things to do across the earth that you guys won't do,

01:23:07.380 --> 01:23:10.380
things you guys have started that they will finish,

01:23:10.380 --> 01:23:13.380
promises for them that you guys haven't heard yet,

01:23:13.380 --> 01:23:18.380
so that they can raise the generation after them and that will just continue.

01:23:25.380 --> 01:23:29.380
How about we're grateful for the Fathers that we have in our lives.

01:23:29.380 --> 01:23:32.380
They're such blessings to us, Father.

01:23:32.380 --> 01:23:36.380
Thank you that they pour out into our lives, Father.

01:23:38.380 --> 01:23:42.380
Help us to learn the things, the ways, the order that they teach us,

01:23:42.380 --> 01:23:47.380
and help us to be clean vessels that can be used by you, Father.

01:23:49.380 --> 01:23:52.380
May we be useful vessels

01:23:53.380 --> 01:23:58.380
that will actually take your presence into this city, Father.

01:23:58.380 --> 01:24:01.380
Help us to be good sons, Father.

01:24:01.380 --> 01:24:03.380
I pray this in the name of Jesus.

01:24:05.380 --> 01:24:08.380
Bless you. See you when I see you.

01:24:09.380 --> 01:24:13.380
If you need prayer, there'll be people here to pray for you.

01:24:14.380 --> 01:24:16.380
Wells of healing are open.
