And here's what 00:00:19.240 --> 00:00:37.000 it says, Acts 2 22. It says, Men of Israel, listen to this. Jesus of Nazareth was a man 00:00:37.000 --> 00:00:44.600 accredited by God to you by miracles, wonders and signs which God did among you through 00:00:44.600 --> 00:00:50.680 him. One more time. Men of Israel, listen to this. Jesus of Nazareth was a man accredited 00:00:50.680 --> 00:00:58.360 by God to you by miracles, wonders and signs which God did among you through him. So that's 00:00:58.360 --> 00:01:04.200 basically what we'll be exploring for the next few weeks. What does it look like if we were 00:01:04.200 --> 00:01:10.280 accredited? Yeah? And so here was Jesus of Nazareth. And it's a deliberate thing, eh? 00:01:10.280 --> 00:01:22.680 It doesn't say Jesus Christ. It doesn't say Son of God. It doesn't say Savior. It says 00:01:22.680 --> 00:01:31.800 of Nazareth. It was very deliberate because the intent was, can you see that he was a man? 00:01:31.800 --> 00:01:51.000 That he was fully man. And that he needed to be accredited by somebody, by somebody. In this 00:01:51.000 --> 00:02:00.040 case, that somebody was God. If you go to Acts 10 38, you see the same thing being presented there. 00:02:00.280 --> 00:02:10.120 Acts 10 38. Again, it's very deliberate, the usage of words there is so deliberate. 00:02:11.000 --> 00:02:18.920 God anointed. And so we now see how he was accredited. We now see how he was accredited. 00:02:18.920 --> 00:02:28.920 God anointed. And again, not Jesus Christ. Not Son of God. Not Savior. God anointed who? Jesus of 00:02:30.040 --> 00:02:36.440 Nazareth. What's the intent? Can I let you guys see that we are not talking about anybody else, 00:02:36.440 --> 00:02:44.440 but someone who was fully man. God anointed Jesus of Nazareth. Then we see the source of his power. 00:02:44.440 --> 00:02:51.400 God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with who? With, anointing is not what. Anointing is always who. 00:02:51.960 --> 00:02:58.280 God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit. With the Holy Spirit. 00:03:00.600 --> 00:03:05.560 It's critical that we understand this, that we're not being anointed with something, 00:03:05.560 --> 00:03:12.840 but with someone. Because anointing and power seem to be things that go together. And so what happens 00:03:12.840 --> 00:03:17.800 is we think we are being anointed with power. We're not being anointed with power. We're being 00:03:17.800 --> 00:03:25.640 anointed by the Holy Spirit. What's anointing? To immerse, to smear, to completely empower. But 00:03:25.640 --> 00:03:31.240 we are being empowered by a person, not by the sheer quantity of power. So it first says Jesus 00:03:31.240 --> 00:03:36.840 of Nazareth, God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power. Because of the 00:03:36.840 --> 00:03:45.320 Holy Spirit, he had power. With the Holy Spirit and power. When people seek an anointing just for 00:03:45.320 --> 00:03:52.360 the sake of power, that's when you can still have a sign, miracle or wonder, but the person 00:03:52.360 --> 00:04:00.520 of Jesus is not conveyed. The acts of Jesus are conveyed, but the nature of Jesus is not conveyed 00:04:00.520 --> 00:04:05.560 when the anointing is after power and not after the person of the Holy Spirit. 00:04:08.040 --> 00:04:14.520 So it would be like me coming to you, not because of a relationship with you, but because of what I 00:04:14.520 --> 00:04:21.800 know you have that will help me do what I need to. And so do I still get to execute whatever is 00:04:21.800 --> 00:04:26.680 necessary because you give me what you have? Yes. But do I build a relationship with you? No. 00:04:29.240 --> 00:04:34.280 One thing God is forever after since the beginning of time is relationship. I want us to know that 00:04:34.280 --> 00:04:38.680 when we don't go after relationship, God sometimes turns the tap off. 00:04:38.680 --> 00:04:44.120 And when he turns the tap off, then we have to create power ourselves. And that's when the drama 00:04:44.120 --> 00:04:52.760 comes in. The smoke and the lights come in. Because now, why? Because it's easy to get power. It is so 00:04:52.760 --> 00:05:01.080 difficult to get a relationship because relationships need time. It is so easy to get power. It is so 00:05:01.240 --> 00:05:07.240 difficult to cultivate relationships. Power will lead to methods. Relationship will lead to Jesus 00:05:07.240 --> 00:05:19.000 being made more obvious. So God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with power and the Spirit. 00:05:20.120 --> 00:05:24.280 And it's then that he goes around. He goes around. 00:05:24.360 --> 00:05:29.800 Doing what? Now that he is accredited. So what is accreditation at the end? To be accredited 00:05:30.680 --> 00:05:49.880 is to be in relationship. That in relationship with the Spirit, that releases the power of God. 00:05:49.960 --> 00:05:54.520 With the Spirit, that releases to you 00:05:59.160 --> 00:05:59.800 the power 00:06:03.080 --> 00:06:08.920 to do what? To heal? Yes. To cast out demons? Yes. To raise the dead? Yes. To preach the good news? 00:06:08.920 --> 00:06:18.040 To put the poor? Yes. But what's the overarching theme? To make all things new. 00:06:21.000 --> 00:06:25.720 This is brilliant. Let's look at it again. 00:06:29.080 --> 00:06:35.480 What does it mean to be accredited? To be accredited is to be in increasing relationship. 00:06:35.480 --> 00:06:40.840 Because anointing increases as relationship increases. In increasing relationship. 00:06:43.560 --> 00:06:47.080 The strange thing is we are in relationship with someone who lives inside of us. 00:06:47.080 --> 00:06:49.240 So we're not even climbing up a mountain to get it. 00:06:51.160 --> 00:06:54.680 It's not that we have to ascend somewhere or descend somewhere to get it. 00:06:54.680 --> 00:06:56.680 This is someone who is in your house. 00:06:56.680 --> 00:07:05.800 So to be accredited is to be increasing in relationship with the Spirit. And that increase 00:07:05.800 --> 00:07:13.000 is what releases to you power to do what? To make all things new. Why is that important? 00:07:13.000 --> 00:07:17.160 Because that's the only thing Christ is after. I want to make all things new. 00:07:18.600 --> 00:07:23.240 In that making all things new is the bit about the healing, the demons, the 00:07:23.560 --> 00:07:26.920 understanding of things, the preaching of the good news, the cleansing of lepers. 00:07:26.920 --> 00:07:32.280 All that is making things new. Remember, there is a power that made all things old. 00:07:33.080 --> 00:07:37.080 Don't forget that. This is a power struggle. This is a conflict of powers, guys. 00:07:37.080 --> 00:07:44.920 There is a power that made all things old. Whatever word you want to use for it. 00:08:45.480 --> 00:08:48.040 I'm just picking on that word because it's in Acts 2.22. 00:08:49.080 --> 00:08:54.040 The intent is, hey, can I accredit you? Can I endorse you? Can I stamp you? 00:08:54.040 --> 00:08:57.400 I can do it whenever I want because I'm God and I'm sovereign. 00:08:57.400 --> 00:09:01.720 I can pick anybody. I can pick a donkey. I can pick Samson who was sleeping around 00:09:01.720 --> 00:09:07.560 every night. And I can still use him by anointing him to pick up gates on his back, 00:09:07.560 --> 00:09:12.200 to slay Philistines with the jawbone of an ass, to destroy things. 00:09:12.200 --> 00:09:15.640 I can do that. But that's not the way I function. 00:09:15.640 --> 00:09:18.200 I function through relationship, not through anointing. 00:09:20.040 --> 00:09:26.040 That is a sad thing, eh? That we flip from relationship to anointing so you have people 00:09:26.040 --> 00:09:30.280 who can function greatly anointing. And God will still do it for the sake of someone else. 00:09:30.280 --> 00:09:39.800 He'll still do it. He'll still anoint you despite everything that you and I are during the week. 00:09:39.800 --> 00:09:45.000 He may still say, hey, let me release through you and upon you my power for the sake of someone else 00:09:45.000 --> 00:09:49.000 who is in need and who's calling out to me. And you seem to be the only one here right now. 00:09:49.000 --> 00:09:53.240 So let me use you. That's not his favorite way of doing things. 00:09:53.880 --> 00:09:59.400 You use servants or employees to do your bidding only because your son is not in his place. 00:09:59.400 --> 00:10:05.080 But once you have a son who is faithful, if you had to choose to send something special to someone, 00:10:05.080 --> 00:10:09.880 you would choose your son, not your servant. Because the servant does not have relationship. 00:10:09.880 --> 00:10:13.480 Jesus said it. I don't call you servants anymore. I call you my friends. 00:10:13.480 --> 00:10:17.400 Because the servant does not know what his master wants, but his son knows what his father wants. 00:10:17.400 --> 00:10:23.480 But his son knows what his father wants. To make all things new. As in, if someone accredits you, it should show, 00:11:20.200 --> 00:11:25.240 there should be evidence that someone has accredited you with power or with, in this case, power. 00:11:25.240 --> 00:11:33.560 Well then, illustrate it. Show that you're accredited. What was Jesus trying to say? He's saying, listen, 00:12:26.040 --> 00:12:29.800 if I accredit you as people that belong to the kingdom, then you have to show people that the 00:12:29.800 --> 00:12:34.360 kingdom is here. But you cannot show people the kingdom is here unless there is power working 00:12:34.360 --> 00:12:40.200 through you. Because as it says in 1 Corinthians 14, this kingdom is not a kingdom of eating and 00:12:40.200 --> 00:12:48.200 drinking and of talk. This kingdom is a kingdom of power, peace, joy, and the Holy Ghost. 00:12:49.240 --> 00:12:55.320 1 Corinthians 14, 20 says, the kingdom of God is not a kingdom of eating and drinking and talk. 00:12:56.760 --> 00:13:02.680 I would say to us that we are in the danger of becoming that. We can talk this, 00:13:03.560 --> 00:13:10.520 we can eat, and we can drink. But eating and drinking and talk isn't enough. We have to get 00:13:10.520 --> 00:13:16.920 to a place where we have to show that this is a kingdom that has in it righteousness, peace, joy, 00:13:16.920 --> 00:13:22.680 power, and the Holy Ghost. Five things. Righteousness, peace, joy, power, and the Holy 00:13:22.680 --> 00:13:28.040 Ghost. Yearn for this. Yearn for this. This is what makes up authentic Christianity. This is what 00:13:28.040 --> 00:13:35.560 makes up authentic churches that actually display the kingdom. To aim for anything less is actually 00:13:35.560 --> 00:13:42.440 going to affect us in the future. It will affect us in the future. It will be, these guys talk a 00:13:42.440 --> 00:13:53.400 solid game. But where is the evidence? And the evidence cannot be one or two people. 00:13:53.400 --> 00:13:58.920 And the evidence cannot be in India or Africa or Asia. The evidence has to be local. 00:14:04.600 --> 00:14:10.360 And there's a lack. The guy in Acts chapter 8 who said, 00:15:53.000 --> 00:15:59.480 can I give you some money so I can have the same power? And he was a believer. He was a magician who 00:16:05.640 --> 00:16:10.760 converted, believed, and then wanted the power. And then there's another scripture says 00:16:28.680 --> 00:16:39.000 1 Corinthians 4 20. 1 Corinthians 4 20 and Romans 14 what? If you combine both, you find that the kingdom of God 00:16:46.600 --> 00:16:52.520 is actually not a matter of eating or drinking or talk, but of Holy Spirit, 00:16:52.520 --> 00:16:58.200 righteousness, peace, joy, and power. And therefore, if you look at those things, 00:16:58.920 --> 00:17:04.920 this is a litmus test for all of us. But here's how we deal with time. They go to sleep and they wake up the next morning saying, 00:19:35.400 --> 00:19:41.640 I got another opportunity to start afresh. That's how this works. Relationship always involves 00:19:42.600 --> 00:19:48.680 love and feelings. And the Holy Spirit is so, so into feelings, eh? And then below it, 00:20:21.240 --> 00:20:27.400 there's another line which says, non-feeling guests will be prosecuted. So this is real. Yeah. 00:20:27.400 --> 00:20:43.160 So, increase in those guys. Guys, here's the thing, eh? If you read Judges 2, you realize 00:20:43.160 --> 00:20:46.440 that a generation will come up that will not know the ways of their fathers. 00:20:48.920 --> 00:20:54.520 So if you've had parents who've seen miracle signs and wonders, if you have come from churches that 00:20:54.520 --> 00:20:59.320 have seen miracle signs and wonders, if you are someone who has seen miracle signs and wonders, 00:21:01.160 --> 00:21:09.080 then stand up and begin to talk of what has happened and yearn for it to happen again. 00:21:09.080 --> 00:21:14.520 Because there is a generation coming, especially the generation born after 9-11, 00:21:15.640 --> 00:21:20.200 that does not know what signs, miracles, and wonders are. They only see it on TV. 00:21:20.200 --> 00:21:29.880 If you think you're old, well then, recall the things God has done. He deliberately decided, nope, if I'm going to walk 00:23:52.120 --> 00:23:58.840 the earth and I'm going to share what you guys here in Vancouver are, then I will have to set aside 00:23:59.800 --> 00:24:05.720 my divine attributes and I will have to set aside my independent exercise of power, which I have been 00:24:05.720 --> 00:24:12.120 exercising since the beginning of time. I created everything. I set it aside. Why? So that my power 00:24:12.120 --> 00:24:16.920 will only come from the Holy Spirit and my power will have to come from the Holy Spirit, but me 00:24:16.920 --> 00:24:21.960 depending on the Holy Spirit for this power. It evens the playing field. 00:24:29.480 --> 00:24:37.960 The last word is dependent. It is compassion. 00:25:34.520 --> 00:25:41.400 This is super important if I want the Spirit of God to flow easily through me uninterrupted, 00:25:41.400 --> 00:25:47.480 compassion, and you have to ask yourself, is that natural for you? Is compassion the most natural 00:25:48.360 --> 00:25:53.640 thing that rises in you? And the strange thing with God is it's an indignant compassion or a 00:25:54.760 --> 00:26:01.400 justice-seeking compassion. It's not compassion that's just mushy. It's compassion that is 00:26:01.400 --> 00:26:08.920 indignant at times. It's not only something that flows from his womb, but it's also something that 00:26:08.920 --> 00:26:16.840 flows with the degree of, I will do this. It's a little indignant. That's what you see, indignant 00:26:16.840 --> 00:26:23.160 compassion coming out when they try to stop him from healing a man who is coming up for healing on 00:26:23.160 --> 00:26:28.840 Sabbath. That's when the indignance comes up.
