00:00:00.000 --> 00:00:15.240
Today we deal with the second part of Aaron's staff, which we talked about the first time.

00:00:15.240 --> 00:00:23.520
What I've written on the board is the recap of how we started last time. We are talking

00:00:23.520 --> 00:00:34.840
about the contents of the ark, and inside the ark was Aaron's staff, which had budded.

00:00:34.840 --> 00:00:40.840
God asked Moses to put it in the ark, and he wanted to establish an unchangeable, eternal

00:00:40.840 --> 00:00:47.040
principle of divine order we talked about last time. In Numbers 17.10, we read what

00:00:47.040 --> 00:00:53.840
it was meant to be. The staff represented the authority of the set man or the man that

00:00:53.840 --> 00:01:01.680
leads and the father in the house. It was placed there as a signal or a red flag against

00:01:01.680 --> 00:01:07.680
bitterness, against rebellion, and against stubbornness of the house, of the sons of

00:01:07.680 --> 00:01:14.000
the house. So we dealt with that. Today we talk about, again, this idea of the order.

00:01:14.960 --> 00:01:23.880
I literally want to call it that, the order of fathers and sons. The order of fathers

00:01:23.880 --> 00:01:35.880
and sons. It's a divinely prescribed order, and the intent is to show you from scriptures

00:01:36.760 --> 00:01:49.760
so that you and I can walk in it. We are framing an order. We are framing an order, not a Jacob

00:01:49.760 --> 00:02:03.760
or a May or a Heidi or a Tooney. That's not what we're doing. We're not trying to say,

00:02:04.640 --> 00:02:09.640
this is how this person should be treated. No, we are framing an order that will last

00:02:09.640 --> 00:02:16.640
for generations, because it has lasted for generations, but there's sufficient pushback

00:02:16.640 --> 00:02:22.640
against it, and it must be established. So if you turn to Genesis 18, let's start there.

00:02:22.640 --> 00:02:32.640
Genesis 18. Genesis 18. And as I teach, you'll find why we are calling it framing an order,

00:02:33.520 --> 00:02:41.520
not trying to limit it to a position, a person. This has been from everlasting and should

00:02:41.520 --> 00:02:51.520
be till things end. Genesis chapter 18, starting at verse 16. Genesis 18. 16. When the men

00:02:51.520 --> 00:02:57.520
got up to leave, they looked down toward Sodom, and Abraham walked along with them to see

00:02:58.400 --> 00:03:05.400
what was going on on their way. Then the Lord said, shall I hide from Abraham what I am

00:03:05.400 --> 00:03:11.400
about to do? Abraham will surely become a great and powerful nation, and all the nations

00:03:11.400 --> 00:03:16.400
on the earth will be blessed through him. Listen to the next word. For I have chosen

00:03:16.400 --> 00:03:23.400
him, so that he will direct and command his children and his household after him to keep

00:03:23.400 --> 00:03:28.400
the word of God. By doing what is right and just, so that the Lord will bring about for

00:03:28.400 --> 00:03:35.400
Abraham what he has promised him. It's crazy that verse. What it is saying there is that

00:03:35.400 --> 00:03:46.400
God's promise was dependent on Abraham's offspring. God's promise was dependent on Abraham's

00:03:53.400 --> 00:04:06.400
offspring to bring it to pass, to bring them to a place. Bring it to pass. So even though

00:04:06.400 --> 00:04:13.400
Abraham was the progenitor, or progenitor simply means the one to whom the promise was first

00:04:13.400 --> 00:04:18.400
given and was supposed to be continued as an inheritance, even though Abraham was a

00:04:18.400 --> 00:04:24.400
progenitor. What is the promise given to him? The promise is in Genesis 12, 1-3. What is

00:04:24.400 --> 00:04:30.400
the promise? That Abraham, leave your clan country, go. As you go out, know that through

00:04:30.400 --> 00:04:34.900
you, I'll bless all the nations. You'll become a father of many nations. I'll bless nations

00:04:34.900 --> 00:04:38.600
through you. Those that are blessed through you will be blessed. Those that curse you

00:04:38.600 --> 00:04:44.000
will be cursed. And that I'll fill the earth with your descendants. That's the promise

00:04:44.000 --> 00:04:50.000
given. But the moment the promise is given, here's the catch. In Genesis 18, God is literally

00:04:50.000 --> 00:04:59.000
saying, I believe that Abraham is someone who will raise his sons to carry this promise.

00:04:59.000 --> 00:05:10.000
Because if he does not raise his sons, this promise will stop. There's no covenant, no

00:05:11.000 --> 00:05:18.000
promise on the face of the earth that does not fizzle out. If you do not, convey it to

00:05:18.000 --> 00:05:24.000
the next generation and then teach the next generation to teach a third generation. All

00:05:24.000 --> 00:05:33.000
promises die. Look at any covenant that God made. It always involved the order of fathers

00:05:33.000 --> 00:05:41.000
and sons. So in Genesis 18-19, for the Lord to bring to pass things he has spoken, he

00:05:41.000 --> 00:05:51.000
requires Abraham to command the sons after him to carry the vision. Crazy. Let's say

00:05:51.000 --> 00:06:01.000
Vivek has a vision that only Emmanuel can carry. Not because he's a male child. Females,

00:06:01.000 --> 00:06:06.000
males, like I said, these are genderless terms. But let's assume that there's a vision that

00:06:06.000 --> 00:06:13.000
Emmanuel must carry. Then Vivek will have to train Emmanuel to carry forward that command.

00:06:13.000 --> 00:06:23.000
Otherwise the vision dies. So anything that a church does, any promise given to a church,

00:06:24.000 --> 00:06:32.000
any promise given to your family dies if the order of fathers and sons is not the framework

00:06:32.000 --> 00:06:40.000
that is used to progress God's agenda. It doesn't mean that you won't go to heaven. It doesn't

00:06:40.000 --> 00:06:44.000
mean that you won't get healed. It doesn't mean that you will not love him or that he will not

00:06:44.000 --> 00:06:50.000
love you. It doesn't mean that you will not hear God. All those things are active. But here's

00:06:50.000 --> 00:06:57.000
the thing. Purpose, ministry, vision does not see its fulfillment without this framework.

00:06:57.000 --> 00:07:02.000
And I'll show you again and again and again in the scriptures. Some of it is heart-wrenching

00:07:02.000 --> 00:07:15.000
what's happened. God knew that Abraham would be able to pass on to his children the things

00:07:15.000 --> 00:07:20.000
that the Lord had given him. I love it. He's talking to the angels next to him and he's saying,

00:07:20.000 --> 00:07:25.000
shall I hide from Abraham what I'm about to do? Abraham will surely become a great and powerful

00:07:25.000 --> 00:07:30.000
nation. All the nations on the earth will be blessed for him. For I have chosen him, and this is

00:07:30.000 --> 00:07:35.000
God's foreknowledge, for I have chosen him so that he will command his children and his household

00:07:35.000 --> 00:07:43.000
after him to do what? To keep the way of the Lord by doing what is right and just. So that, towards

00:07:43.000 --> 00:07:48.000
God's intent, so that the Lord will bring about for Abraham what he has promised him. And what's

00:07:48.000 --> 00:07:54.000
the promise? The promise is not that Abraham will become a rich man. The promise is that God's

00:07:54.000 --> 00:07:59.000
blessing will be upon the nations of the earth, including you. Because in Galatians 3 it says,

00:07:59.000 --> 00:08:05.000
who are the sons of Abraham? You know the Jews at one point in their discourse with Jesus in

00:08:05.000 --> 00:08:14.000
Matthew chapter 4 say to Jesus, who do you think we are? Who do you think you are? We are the

00:08:14.000 --> 00:08:18.000
children of Abraham. That's what they say. We're not talking about children. We're talking about

00:08:18.000 --> 00:08:32.000
sons that are able to convey. And so you can only be a father of a multitude if you have an Isaac

00:08:32.000 --> 00:08:43.000
who will carry forward the vision and seed. It always starts with one. See, I think Acts 29 has

00:08:43.000 --> 00:08:49.000
learned this and is a household that operates like this. So sometimes if I sound strong, it's not

00:08:49.000 --> 00:08:55.000
coming out against the church. I'm just talking about this principle that is so opposed now in the

00:08:55.000 --> 00:09:00.000
world that has to be brought out. Foundations have to be rebuilt. One of the things we are doing is

00:09:00.000 --> 00:09:07.000
not for our sake, but for the sake of the earth. But it is also a litmus test. If I held a plumb

00:09:07.000 --> 00:09:13.000
line against you, how would you shape up? If you held a plumb line against me, how would I shape up?

00:09:13.000 --> 00:09:23.000
That's also important because it's a reality check and truth is the best plumb line. So Abraham,

00:09:23.000 --> 00:09:30.000
God says to him that I'll make you the father of multitudes of a nation, but you cannot become the

00:09:30.000 --> 00:09:38.000
father of a multitude unless you have one Isaac to carry forward the vision and seed. Sometimes that's

00:09:38.000 --> 00:09:48.000
all you need, one Isaac. But if you don't go towards building up an Isaac, then it doesn't matter what

00:09:48.000 --> 00:10:03.000
you do. It will die. It cannot be transferred forward. And we see examples in the Bible. It is one

00:10:03.000 --> 00:10:09.000
thing to teach a son how to be a father. It's another to teach a son how to teach a third generation to be

00:10:09.000 --> 00:10:17.000
a father. Just think of that. It's one thing to teach a son how to be a father. It's another thing how to

00:10:17.000 --> 00:10:25.000
teach that son how to teach a third generation. Otherwise it dies in two. You have to play two

00:10:25.000 --> 00:10:37.000
generations ahead. I must be able to teach, Don must be able to teach, Abhishek must be able to teach

00:10:37.000 --> 00:10:48.000
our friend here. Four generations would be great. So it's not enough that I teach Don how to operate and

00:10:48.000 --> 00:10:54.000
Don is happy with that. Don must now learn as a father how to teach a third generation how to carry forward

00:10:54.000 --> 00:11:02.000
what must be carried forward. If not, it dies. I don't know if it is important to you that things live or die.

00:11:02.000 --> 00:11:10.000
And if it is not important to you, you must question what are you living for except yourself? As a believer,

00:11:10.000 --> 00:11:17.000
you must question this. As I'm speaking, if it's not important to you and I can prove it scripturally that it

00:11:17.000 --> 00:11:24.000
should be, then a question must be asked, what am I living for? Because if all you're living for is you, then

00:11:24.000 --> 00:11:32.000
you don't need to do this. One of the statements that Absalom makes in 2 Samuel 18, 18, here's what he says.

00:11:32.000 --> 00:11:39.000
And he dies, but here's what he says, I don't have sons, so I will build a memorial to myself. And he builds

00:11:39.000 --> 00:11:48.000
himself a pillar and he calls it Absalom's pillar. And he dies. What does he leave behind? He leaves behind

00:11:49.000 --> 00:11:58.000
a memorial. Ministries, pastors, churches, denominations are leaving behind them memorials.

00:11:58.000 --> 00:12:11.000
What does that memorial have? It has the grace of a man who is dead or the grace of a principle that is now

00:12:11.000 --> 00:12:33.000
dead. That's all you got. And that's living for oneself. In the Bible, every person was made up of two things,

00:12:33.000 --> 00:12:52.000
his ancestry and his offspring. And it mattered. Ancestry mattered, offspring mattered. And caught in that, if you were caught between

00:12:52.000 --> 00:13:11.000
those two, you were shaped. So it's time to restore these foundations to the earth. All divine covenants, all divine covenants

00:13:11.000 --> 00:13:18.000
and renewals that God does happen through the order of fathers and sons, be it Adam, the Adamic covenant would not

00:13:18.000 --> 00:13:26.000
have happened without fathers and sons. I'll tell you this, why it's important, because Genesis 1.27 does not happen if there are

00:13:26.000 --> 00:13:35.000
no frameworks of fathers and sons. Genesis 1.27 says this, go forth, multiply. After what? After your kind. What was Adam's

00:13:35.000 --> 00:13:45.000
kind? God. Why was God so confident that Adam would do well? Because God knew how he made Adam. He was made in the image of

00:13:45.000 --> 00:13:56.000
God. So it's natural for you to multiply after your kind. It's only when you come to set that the Bible changes and Genesis 5 says

00:13:56.000 --> 00:14:08.000
and then Adam's son began to look like Adam. Till then, it was Adam looked like God. Take the Adamic covenant as that. Take the Noahic covenant,

00:14:08.000 --> 00:14:17.000
same thing. Noah, I'm restarting with you. There's a reason why it was not just Noah that was saved, because he was a righteous man, but it wasn't

00:14:17.000 --> 00:14:26.000
just him that was saved. He was saved with his family and his children. Take the Abrahamic covenant. The Abrahamic covenant is completely

00:14:26.000 --> 00:14:45.000
dependent on one thing, Isaac, the son of promise. The beautiful thing is when Abraham is 60, when Abraham was born, Noah was 890 years old. When Abraham was 60,

00:14:45.000 --> 00:14:59.000
that's when Noah dies. Abraham spent 60 years with a man that God restarted the earth with. Abraham knew what a rainbow really meant because he heard it from the one who first saw the

00:14:59.000 --> 00:15:12.000
rainbow. 15 years later, he's at a place called Heron, and once again, God is renewing a promise. But you think Abraham didn't pick up from his great-great-great nine times over grandfather

00:15:12.000 --> 00:15:29.000
that for 60 years he listened to stories of Noah, of how he went into an ark and the door was shut from outside, how it was completely inundated with a flood, how he offered the first sacrifice. You think when Abraham is chasing the vultures away

00:15:29.000 --> 00:15:46.000
and there's a flaming torch passing, he doesn't remember the covenant that Noah made? I cannot even tell you how rich you are to have an inheritance from ministry or spiritual fathers, and I cannot tell you how poor you are when you choose to

00:15:46.000 --> 00:16:03.000
resist it. I say that to you, I say that to me, and I say that to the earth because these are foundations that are generational that must be reestablished if the church is to prosper.

00:16:03.000 --> 00:16:28.000
Take Jesus, listen to his prayer in John 17. His prayer in John 17 is, Oh God, you gave me these. He knows where sons come from. Oh God, you gave me these, and I have not lost a single one of them except that one that was supposed to perish. You gave me these, and I have kept them, I have shown them, I have revealed everything to them.

00:16:28.000 --> 00:16:51.000
Take David's covenant. David taught people how to walk in this. Every covenant, I mean go to Joshua 24, Joshua 24, Joshua 24, Joshua 24, Moses, David, Jesus, Isaac, Paul, us.

00:16:51.000 --> 00:17:08.000
Look at Joshua 24. It's the last chapter of Joshua, and God is speaking, and look at how he traces how covenants are renewed. He's going to renew a covenant with Israel.

00:17:08.000 --> 00:17:28.000
And so Joshua assembles the officials and leaders. Joshua said to all people, this is what the Lord the God of Israel says, verse 2, Long ago your forefathers, including Terah, the father of Abraham and Nahor, lived beyond the river and worshipped other gods.

00:17:28.000 --> 00:17:40.000
But I took your father Abraham from the land beyond the river and let him throw out Canaan and gave him many descendants. I gave him Isaac, and to Isaac I gave Jacob and Esau. I assigned the hill country to Esau, but Jacob and his sons went down to Egypt.

00:17:40.000 --> 00:17:53.000
Then I went and sent Moses and Aaron, and I afflicted the Egyptians by what I did there, and I brought you out. When I brought your fathers out of the Egypt, you came to the sea, and the Egyptians pursued you with chariots, but they cried out to the Lord, and I put darkness upon the Egyptians.

00:17:53.000 --> 00:18:10.000
And he goes on, the intent there is to show, listen, I'm a covenant-keeping God, but all the covenants I renew and I make, I make with the intent of it being conveyed forward generation after generation through the order or the framework of fathers and sons.

00:18:10.000 --> 00:18:21.000
There's no other way around this, man.

00:18:21.000 --> 00:18:30.000
The job of a father, what's the job of a father? Very simple. The job of a father is to raise fathers.

00:18:30.000 --> 00:18:36.000
That's not the answer you expected, but that's the right answer. The job of a father is to raise fathers.

00:18:36.000 --> 00:18:53.000
If Abraham doesn't raise Isaac to be a father, Isaac cannot convey what he wants to Jacob and to Esau. The job of fathers is to raise fathers.

00:18:53.000 --> 00:18:59.000
And what do you mature sons into? You mature sons into fatherhood.

00:18:59.000 --> 00:19:12.000
This point is having a son fully mature, but if he cannot then father, what's the point? That's exactly what happened to Absalom. Absalom was handsome. Absalom was skilled at war. Absalom was getting people drawn to him.

00:19:12.000 --> 00:19:24.000
But what does he leave behind on earth? Read 2 Samuel 18, 18. Sorry. Yeah, 2 Samuel 18, 18. 2 Samuel 18, 18. Oh, I better not touch this.

00:19:24.000 --> 00:19:31.000
2 Samuel 18, 18. That's the hymn book. Can someone read it, please? This one's the Bible.

00:19:31.000 --> 00:19:39.000
And now behind door three, 2 Samuel 18, 18.

00:19:39.000 --> 00:19:51.000
Such a sad verse, but so, so, so like the church today. 2 Samuel 18, 18.

00:19:51.000 --> 00:20:03.000
During his lifetime, Absalom had taken a pillar and erected it in the Kings Valley. So no ordinary valley, Kings Valley, as a monument to himself for he thought, I have no son to carry on the memory of my name.

00:20:03.000 --> 00:20:14.000
He named the pillar after himself and it is still called Absalom's monument to this day. What's the point?

00:20:14.000 --> 00:20:22.000
You want a ministry named after you? This is the way to go.

00:20:22.000 --> 00:20:32.000
But if you want the truth of God to be conveyed forward, then it is important that all of us learn to do this.

00:20:32.000 --> 00:20:37.000
That's why I said it's not about, this teaching is not about how you should treat leaders.

00:20:37.000 --> 00:20:43.000
It's a lot about how leaders should treat you, but it's not about the respect that you owe me or the respect that you owe someone.

00:20:43.000 --> 00:20:48.000
It is the framework. It is the order. It's a divine order.

00:20:48.000 --> 00:20:53.000
It was established by God and the staff was placed in the ark so that we don't forget.

00:20:53.000 --> 00:21:02.000
And the earth is quickly forgetting. Why? Because we live in churchianity that is highly individualized, highly independent and does not like the word submission.

00:21:02.000 --> 00:21:07.000
That's why. Accountability and submission, nah.

00:21:13.000 --> 00:21:16.000
As in the physical, so in the spiritual.

00:21:16.000 --> 00:21:20.000
Raising children into maturity is done best by fathers.

00:21:20.000 --> 00:21:26.000
Like I said, it's a genderless term. Please do not rule yourself out because you are a female.

00:21:26.000 --> 00:21:35.000
Raising children, like in the physical, so in the spiritual, raising children is best done by fathers, by ones.

00:21:35.000 --> 00:21:38.000
So what's critical to this equation?

00:21:38.000 --> 00:22:01.000
Critical to this equation is the expectation that the father's love is seen and is the way ministry fathers or spiritual fathers, whatever word you want to use, operate.

00:22:08.000 --> 00:22:19.000
God brings sons and daughters from far to be raised to be nursed when genuine fathers are present.

00:22:19.000 --> 00:22:27.000
God brings sons and daughters from far to be raised and nursed when a genuine father is present.

00:22:27.000 --> 00:22:29.000
You can read that in Isaiah 64.

00:22:29.000 --> 00:22:37.000
Look up and see how they are bringing your sons and daughters back on their hips from afar.

00:22:40.000 --> 00:22:47.000
And what is the job of a father? The job of a father is to raise fathers.

00:22:47.000 --> 00:22:59.000
Who is a mature son? Sons always mature into fatherhood.

00:22:59.000 --> 00:23:05.000
Never forget that eh?

00:23:05.000 --> 00:23:10.000
And so you may have a great call on your life eh?

00:23:10.000 --> 00:23:16.000
You may be highly gifted, you may have a great call, and yet you may not learn how to raise sons.

00:23:16.000 --> 00:23:21.000
Like David. David was such a great man. He was a skilled warrior.

00:23:21.000 --> 00:23:26.000
You want to be like David. Everybody wants to be like either Michael Jordan or David.

00:23:26.000 --> 00:23:31.000
And yet David was a pretty sad father.

00:23:31.000 --> 00:23:36.000
He did not have the skills of a father. Joshua did not have the skills of a father.

00:23:36.000 --> 00:23:42.000
Highly gifted men. In Joshua 24 verse 31, Joshua 24 verse 31, look what it says.

00:23:42.000 --> 00:23:49.000
Israel served the Lord throughout the lifetime of Joshua and of the elders who outlived him,

00:23:49.000 --> 00:23:53.000
who had experienced everything the Lord had done for Israel.

00:23:53.000 --> 00:23:56.000
Now turn two pages over, Judges chapter 2 verse 10.

00:23:56.000 --> 00:24:01.000
After the whole generation had been gathered to their fathers, another generation grew up

00:24:01.000 --> 00:24:06.000
who knew neither the Lord nor what he had done for Israel. One generation.

00:24:06.000 --> 00:24:11.000
Let's assume I was Joshua and let's assume Don was the next generation.

00:24:11.000 --> 00:24:16.000
In one generation, I experienced everything that God had, was not able to convey.

00:24:16.000 --> 00:24:20.000
Don's generation comes and they do not know anything about the God that I serve.

00:24:20.000 --> 00:24:25.000
It is absolutely possible. These are biblical examples.

00:24:25.000 --> 00:24:32.000
If this framework does not exist, a church cannot move into the full purpose

00:24:33.000 --> 00:24:39.000
or the fruitfulness or the vision of God. It's not possible. It's just not possible.

00:24:45.000 --> 00:24:52.000
Instead of being starting points for spiritual revelation that will be reproduced in every successive generation,

00:24:52.000 --> 00:24:55.000
you become an institution that testifies of the past.

00:24:55.000 --> 00:25:00.000
Oh, you know, we had a pastor called Jacob. Oh my God, he was a handsomest guy you could see.

00:25:00.000 --> 00:25:05.000
When he stretches hands out, rivers parted. Oh, we remember those days.

00:25:09.000 --> 00:25:10.000
Thank you.

00:25:11.000 --> 00:25:17.000
So you begin to testify of the past, but you have nothing that you can do yourself.

00:25:22.000 --> 00:25:26.000
Failure to raise sons. Failure to raise sons.

00:25:27.000 --> 00:25:39.000
Failure to raise sons in this frame order or framework results in great torment later, great torment.

00:25:41.000 --> 00:25:47.000
And it threatens what has been built. It threatens what has been built.

00:25:48.000 --> 00:25:58.000
We see it with David, who was a man who suffered so much torment because he did not do well with Amnon.

00:25:58.000 --> 00:26:07.000
He did not do well with Tamar. He did not do well with Absalom. Great torment he faced.

00:26:08.000 --> 00:26:15.000
And then they became a threat to his kingdom. It literally broke him and his kingdom apart.

00:26:16.000 --> 00:26:22.000
But because he was a man after God's heart and knew how to repent and go back, he would keep going back.

00:26:22.000 --> 00:26:37.000
In 2 Kings 4, 2 Kings 4, 2 Kings 4,

00:26:37.000 --> 00:26:46.000
Read the story of this woman that takes her son to Elisha.

00:26:46.000 --> 00:26:55.000
But you read it, you feel kind of sad. 2 Kings 4, verse 18 to 22.

00:26:55.000 --> 00:26:59.000
2 Kings 4, 18 to 22.

00:26:59.000 --> 00:27:09.000
So this child grows up that Elisha had prophesied about, verse 17.

00:27:09.000 --> 00:27:16.000
But the woman became pregnant and the next year about the same time she gave birth to a son just as Elisha had told her, verse 18.

00:27:16.000 --> 00:27:21.000
The child grew and one day he went out to his father who was with the reapers.

00:27:21.000 --> 00:27:27.000
My head, my head, he said to his father. His father told the servant, carry him to his mother.

00:27:27.000 --> 00:27:32.000
After the servant had lifted him up and carried him to his mother, the boy sat on her lap until noon and then he died.

00:27:32.000 --> 00:27:36.000
She went up and laid him on the bed of the man of God and then shut the door and went out.

00:27:36.000 --> 00:27:42.000
She called her husband and said, please send me one of the servants and a donkey so I can go to the man of God quickly and return.

00:27:42.000 --> 00:27:46.000
Why go to him today, he asked. It's not the new moon or the Sabbath. It's all right, she said.

00:27:46.000 --> 00:27:51.000
She saddled the donkey, said to her servant, lead on, don't slow down for me unless I tell you.

00:27:51.000 --> 00:27:54.000
So she set out and came to the man of God at Mount Carmel.

00:27:54.000 --> 00:28:02.000
It's strange here in the story. You find that on one hand there is a father in the house and you can have a father in the house,

00:28:02.000 --> 00:28:08.000
but you can still have a father who is conspicuous by his absence.

00:28:08.000 --> 00:28:14.000
So here is a father in this family, but he is absent.

00:28:14.000 --> 00:28:24.000
And we need to understand what it is for a father to be present and what it is for a father to be absent in the lives of sons.

00:28:24.000 --> 00:28:34.000
To be present, to be present in the life of your sons is to engage them.

00:28:34.000 --> 00:28:41.000
To be aware of what's happening, sometimes not because of what you see, but because of what you hear,

00:28:41.000 --> 00:28:49.000
because you know how they are functioning with God because you pray for them, be aware of them.

00:28:49.000 --> 00:28:54.000
Deposit into their lives.

00:28:54.000 --> 00:28:59.000
Wrestle with them.

00:28:59.000 --> 00:29:06.000
Sometimes bring, you know what, the word touchstone, which is used to test gold and find out whether gold is real,

00:29:06.000 --> 00:29:11.000
the word touchstone in Greek comes from a word called basanos. I just remember the word.

00:29:11.000 --> 00:29:13.000
And it actually means torment.

00:29:13.000 --> 00:29:21.000
Sometimes you have to use the torment of the truth upon sons if you want to find out what they are really made of.

00:29:21.000 --> 00:29:33.000
And if they either withdraw or they'll resist or they'll respond.

00:29:33.000 --> 00:29:39.000
You should launch them. You should help them transition.

00:29:39.000 --> 00:29:44.000
You should admonish them.

00:29:44.000 --> 00:29:49.000
You should lead them. You should encourage them.

00:29:49.000 --> 00:29:56.000
You should carry when required.

00:29:56.000 --> 00:30:00.000
Carry when required.

00:30:00.000 --> 00:30:06.000
This is what being present looks like. I want to tell you what being present is not like.

00:30:06.000 --> 00:30:11.000
Being present is not.

00:30:11.000 --> 00:30:18.000
Is not coddling them. Oh, poor thing. You walked two meters. Let me carry you now.

00:30:18.000 --> 00:30:33.000
It's not to coddle them, not to endorse them or endorse their complexes, not to massage their feelings.

00:30:33.000 --> 00:30:39.000
It's not having chat and chai.

00:30:39.000 --> 00:30:47.000
It's not replacing their parents.

00:30:47.000 --> 00:31:01.000
It's not catering to their abandonment syndrome.

00:31:01.000 --> 00:31:07.000
This is not what father's being present is.

00:31:07.000 --> 00:31:12.000
We'll take questions after this.

00:31:12.000 --> 00:31:37.000
And then the other thing I want to say before we take questions is sons that look for rewards, recognition or friendship.

00:31:37.000 --> 00:31:52.000
Sons that only look for rewards, recognition or friendship, usually don't mature.

00:31:52.000 --> 00:32:08.000
Okay, any questions?

00:32:08.000 --> 00:32:17.000
Yeah, sometimes, what if I said, hey, you don't need to listen to your dad anymore.

00:32:17.000 --> 00:32:22.000
I can tell you what is required, where you substitute yourself.

00:32:22.000 --> 00:32:25.000
Spiritual fathers and ministry fathers can do two terrible things.

00:32:25.000 --> 00:32:32.000
They can substitute themselves for God and they can substitute themselves for any other family that is in your life.

00:32:32.000 --> 00:32:39.000
Both happen. These are abuses that happen.

00:32:39.000 --> 00:32:44.000
Where then you end up dishonoring your parents.

00:32:44.000 --> 00:32:50.000
And by the way, there's a difference between obedience and honor and you need to understand that.

00:32:50.000 --> 00:32:55.000
Because very often, especially if you're from a South Asian culture, we confuse obedience and honor.

00:32:55.000 --> 00:32:57.000
It is possible to honor my mother.

00:32:57.000 --> 00:33:05.000
Both my dad and mom are not around, but there were so many times when I had to make sure that I honored my mother, but I did not obey her.

00:33:05.000 --> 00:33:17.000
Because there were many instances where what she was suggesting that I do did not line up with either what scriptures were saying or what the Lord had very clearly indicated.

00:33:17.000 --> 00:33:20.000
And so I have to make sure that I honor her.

00:33:20.000 --> 00:33:24.000
But honor and obedience should not be equated because when honor and obedience are equated,

00:33:24.000 --> 00:33:31.000
you end up doing things that you know are wrong, but you'll still go ahead and do it because you think of it in terms of honor.

00:33:31.000 --> 00:33:36.000
It has to align with scriptures, of course. I'm not talking about cars or property or stuff like that.

00:33:36.000 --> 00:33:47.000
I'm talking about situations where, I mean, the number of males, South Asian males, who get married to people because of the pressure put on by family or parents is ridiculous.

00:33:47.000 --> 00:33:50.000
Where sometimes you end up marrying someone who's not even a believer.

00:33:55.000 --> 00:34:00.000
That's when you have to choose honor, yes, but obedience, sometimes no.

00:34:07.000 --> 00:34:08.000
Yep.

00:34:17.000 --> 00:34:28.000
The fathers, it's a father's job to bring sons into maturity, to bring them to be fathers.

00:34:33.000 --> 00:34:37.000
So David, David didn't deal with Amnon correctly.

00:34:37.000 --> 00:34:39.000
David didn't deal with Tamar correctly.

00:34:39.000 --> 00:34:41.000
David didn't deal with Absalom correctly.

00:34:41.000 --> 00:34:45.000
Joa brought Absalom, said, take him back.

00:34:45.000 --> 00:34:47.000
But David would not.

00:34:47.000 --> 00:34:52.000
David chased Amnon away when he should have brought Amnon in.

00:34:52.000 --> 00:34:55.000
Tamar was raped. He should have done something about her.

00:34:55.000 --> 00:34:56.000
She was left alone.

00:34:56.000 --> 00:34:59.000
It was disastrous as a father.

00:35:01.000 --> 00:35:02.000
Joshua the same.

00:35:02.000 --> 00:35:09.000
How do you not convey the attributes of God that you have seen up front, face to face to your children?

00:35:12.000 --> 00:35:17.000
So the responsibility always lies with the one that originates.

00:35:17.000 --> 00:35:22.000
And in the kingdom, like I said, the egg, when it comes to chicken and egg, what comes first?

00:35:22.000 --> 00:35:23.000
Chicken.

00:35:24.000 --> 00:35:25.000
Yeah.

00:35:26.000 --> 00:35:27.000
Six, seven, chicken, egg.

00:35:27.000 --> 00:35:29.000
No, always six, always chicken.

00:35:29.000 --> 00:35:30.000
Yeah.

00:35:41.000 --> 00:35:44.000
So you'll have to define what you mean by vision.

00:35:49.000 --> 00:35:51.000
Yeah, it is possible.

00:35:51.000 --> 00:35:53.000
Yeah, it is possible.

00:35:53.000 --> 00:35:56.000
And that is when it becomes even harder.

00:35:56.000 --> 00:36:06.000
How do you submit to someone when you know certain parts of how the car works better than the one who actually got you the car and paid for the insurance?

00:36:06.000 --> 00:36:08.000
That is when it really gets difficult.

00:36:11.000 --> 00:36:12.000
The next 40 minutes.

00:36:18.000 --> 00:36:24.000
This is appropriate in Sheldon and Jane's house right from when Phoebe is small.

00:36:24.000 --> 00:36:27.000
There's no point in doing this.

00:36:27.000 --> 00:36:33.000
This is appropriate in Sheldon and Jane's house right from when Phoebe is small.

00:36:33.000 --> 00:36:37.000
There's no point where it doesn't apply.

00:36:41.000 --> 00:36:45.000
Why is it that Moses raised Joshua instead of Gershom?

00:36:45.000 --> 00:36:53.000
Instead of Gershom, because God said, I'm going to ask you to bring Joshua out.

00:36:53.000 --> 00:36:59.000
And you are the first set man, but you have to appoint a second set man and Joshua is that second set man.

00:36:59.000 --> 00:37:03.000
Very clearly, God told Moses that Joshua is the next one.

00:37:05.000 --> 00:37:12.000
So in Numbers 17 or thereabouts, he said, appoint Joshua because he has to learn from you.

00:37:16.000 --> 00:37:17.000
Cool.

00:37:24.000 --> 00:37:28.000
A big part of fatherhood is enduring for those you father.

00:37:28.000 --> 00:37:36.000
A big part of fatherhood is enduring for those you father, as in endure or be patient and be patient.

00:37:36.000 --> 00:37:45.000
And it's the patience that loves, not a patience that's annoying.

00:37:45.000 --> 00:37:51.000
And even when there is annoyance, hide it.

00:37:51.000 --> 00:37:53.000
Hide it.

00:37:59.000 --> 00:38:01.000
The prodigal son's father was patient.

00:38:01.000 --> 00:38:02.000
He was enduring.

00:38:02.000 --> 00:38:03.000
He waited.

00:38:03.000 --> 00:38:06.000
When annoyance comes in, hide the annoyance.

00:38:06.000 --> 00:38:07.000
Don't show it.

00:38:07.000 --> 00:38:13.000
Annoyance, when it's shown immediately, does harm, damages.

00:38:13.000 --> 00:38:16.000
Learn how to overcome the annoyance.

00:38:16.000 --> 00:38:19.000
The expression of annoyance can be pretty upsetting.

00:38:24.000 --> 00:38:29.000
I mean, really, patience with annoyance, when has it ever been helpful?

00:38:29.000 --> 00:38:31.000
Yeah, I'll be patient with you, but get on with it.

00:38:31.000 --> 00:38:33.000
That's not very helpful, right?

00:38:33.000 --> 00:38:35.000
It still stings.

00:38:35.000 --> 00:38:45.000
So I had someone write to me saying, I feel it's none of you, but this person wrote an email saying, Jacob, I just feel you're annoyed with me.

00:38:45.000 --> 00:38:55.000
And I wrote back saying, I'll make sure that if I'm annoyed with you, it won't show like it has been showing because it doesn't help.

00:38:55.000 --> 00:38:57.000
So it takes patience to be responsible.

00:38:57.000 --> 00:39:01.000
It's the kind of patience that matures you because it's the patience that loves.

00:39:01.000 --> 00:39:03.000
Some of the other mistakes that fathers can make.

00:39:03.000 --> 00:39:10.000
And there's not a mistake here that I will bring out that I haven't made and that I don't plan on making.

00:39:10.000 --> 00:39:16.000
A father who sees his son's son's father, he's not going to be able to see his son.

00:39:16.000 --> 00:39:18.000
He's not going to be able to see his son.

00:39:18.000 --> 00:39:20.000
He's not going to be able to see his son.

00:39:20.000 --> 00:39:30.000
And that I don't plan on making a father who sees his son's competitively will harm the unique identity.

00:39:30.000 --> 00:39:40.000
If you don't see your son's according to their unique identity and you begin to see them competitively or you encourage competition, you will harm them.

00:39:40.000 --> 00:39:49.000
One of the classic examples is in Genesis 27 10, where you had Isaac who loved Esau, who was an outdoors adventurous kind of guy.

00:39:49.000 --> 00:39:59.000
And then Rebecca, who loved Jacob, who was a guy with who basically liked sitting in his house and looking at planes kind of a thing.

00:39:59.000 --> 00:40:06.000
And so Rebecca in Genesis 27 10, she actually hears Isaac about to bless Esau.

00:40:06.000 --> 00:40:08.000
So she says, take a dig, come here.

00:40:08.000 --> 00:40:15.000
And she hatches this plan of deception that Jacob goes with.

00:40:15.000 --> 00:40:25.000
There was a rivalry that ended up almost destroying the family.

00:40:25.000 --> 00:40:28.000
Fathers mustn't. I haven't written fathers here.

00:40:28.000 --> 00:40:31.000
I've written I. I mustn't have ulterior motives.

00:40:31.000 --> 00:40:35.000
What are ulterior motives when it comes to this order of fathers and sons particularly?

00:40:35.000 --> 00:40:41.000
Because next week we'll talk about sons this week talking about things that fathers should be careful of.

00:40:41.000 --> 00:40:44.000
I mustn't have ulterior motives. What are ulterior motives?

00:40:44.000 --> 00:40:51.000
Increasing my bank account through your giving.

00:40:51.000 --> 00:40:59.000
Substituting for God, where you become so dependent on me that you don't have a relationship with God.

00:40:59.000 --> 00:41:03.000
I become the mediator. I become Mother Mary or whatever you want me to be.

00:41:03.000 --> 00:41:06.000
Or Father Mary. Oh, no, that doesn't work.

00:41:06.000 --> 00:41:11.000
What I meant is that I become a mediator.

00:41:11.000 --> 00:41:19.000
Demanding allegiance.

00:41:19.000 --> 00:41:31.000
Exploiting you to increase my ministry.

00:41:31.000 --> 00:41:46.000
Or simply putting my welfare above yours.

00:41:46.000 --> 00:41:58.000
Another one is a father who demands loyalty but cuts you off.

00:41:58.000 --> 00:42:07.000
If you question anything, will raise servants not sons?

00:42:07.000 --> 00:42:18.000
Raises servants not sons?

00:42:18.000 --> 00:42:20.000
So these are things I mustn't do.

00:42:20.000 --> 00:42:28.000
These are things that anyone who at present is operating in the capacity of a father mustn't do.

00:42:28.000 --> 00:42:34.000
It is something that none of you as you mature into fatherhood should do.

00:42:34.000 --> 00:42:37.000
Because all of us are supposed to mature into fatherhood.

00:42:37.000 --> 00:42:40.000
You shouldn't.

00:42:40.000 --> 00:42:48.000
By the same token, sons that are abusive, sons that are slandering, sons that are dishonoring.

00:42:48.000 --> 00:42:54.000
When that happens, do not retaliate.

00:42:54.000 --> 00:42:58.000
Sons may be abusive, sons may be dishonoring, sons may be slandering.

00:42:58.000 --> 00:43:00.000
I assure you of this.

00:43:00.000 --> 00:43:05.000
As you begin to actively walk in the role of a ministry or spiritual father to your sons,

00:43:05.000 --> 00:43:13.000
I assure you that you will go through the experience like your master did of being slandered, of being abused, of being dishonored.

00:43:13.000 --> 00:43:16.000
It's guaranteed.

00:43:16.000 --> 00:43:19.000
When that happens, do not retaliate.

00:43:19.000 --> 00:43:22.000
But take a firm stance and leave the door open.

00:43:22.000 --> 00:43:25.000
Take a stance and leave the door open.

00:43:25.000 --> 00:43:27.000
Because here's the thing, guys.

00:43:27.000 --> 00:43:33.000
Often when sons do this, spiritually and physically they begin to wither, eh?

00:43:33.000 --> 00:43:37.000
And that discipline sometimes drives them back.

00:43:37.000 --> 00:43:39.000
You better leave the door open when that happens.

00:43:39.000 --> 00:43:41.000
You know, it's strange.

00:43:41.000 --> 00:43:45.000
In Genesis 9, it says that...

00:43:45.000 --> 00:43:49.000
We won't discuss it today, but when you read it, it's so...

00:43:49.000 --> 00:43:53.000
Not convoluted, it's so...

00:43:53.000 --> 00:43:56.000
It's so hard to sometimes understand.

00:43:56.000 --> 00:44:00.000
So Noah's lying drunk.

00:44:00.000 --> 00:44:02.000
Shem walks in and sees him.

00:44:02.000 --> 00:44:09.000
And the intent is that Shem at some point laughed at him or did something that was dishonoring to him.

00:44:09.000 --> 00:44:11.000
And he leaves.

00:44:11.000 --> 00:44:13.000
And here's what it says then.

00:44:13.000 --> 00:44:15.000
It wasn't Shem that was cursed.

00:44:15.000 --> 00:44:18.000
It was Canaan, his son, that was cursed.

00:44:18.000 --> 00:44:24.000
As much as blessings are conveyed forward through the order of fathers and sons,

00:44:24.000 --> 00:44:27.000
know that things that are negative and that are not blessings,

00:44:27.000 --> 00:44:32.000
that are curses, are also conveyed forward through the framework of fathers and sons.

00:44:32.000 --> 00:44:38.000
Now you see why in Malachi 4.6, the spirit of Elijah is required to make things good again.

00:44:38.000 --> 00:44:40.000
What does it say in Malachi 4.6?

00:44:40.000 --> 00:44:41.000
That I'm sending Elijah.

00:44:41.000 --> 00:44:42.000
And what will he do?

00:44:42.000 --> 00:44:45.000
He will turn the foolish into wise.

00:44:45.000 --> 00:44:47.000
He will turn the disobedient into obedient.

00:44:47.000 --> 00:44:51.000
And he will turn fathers towards their sons and sons towards the fathers.

00:44:51.000 --> 00:44:53.000
Towards what end?

00:44:53.000 --> 00:44:54.000
A simple end.

00:44:54.000 --> 00:44:58.000
So that the curse is banished.

00:44:58.000 --> 00:45:01.000
Beautifully.

00:45:01.000 --> 00:45:06.000
You don't know how much restoration can happen.

00:45:06.000 --> 00:45:10.000
Through just subscribing to an eternal divine principle.

00:45:10.000 --> 00:45:13.000
Nobody is asking you to do anything.

00:45:13.000 --> 00:45:18.000
But to subscribe to this order so that not only do you begin to learn in it,

00:45:18.000 --> 00:45:22.000
but you get to do this for someone else, guys.

00:45:22.000 --> 00:45:25.000
Only someone who's learned how to be a true son, a good son,

00:45:25.000 --> 00:45:28.000
can actually behave like a true father or a good father.

00:45:28.000 --> 00:45:32.000
Otherwise, where do you learn from?

00:45:32.000 --> 00:45:36.000
Why is it that half this church has not been hugged by their dads or mums?

00:45:36.000 --> 00:45:38.000
Mums, yes, by their dads.

00:45:38.000 --> 00:45:42.000
Because your dads never got any kind of hugs from the ones before them.

00:45:42.000 --> 00:45:48.000
Blessed are you if your dad still comes home and pats your head

00:45:48.000 --> 00:45:53.000
and kisses you before you go to bed.

00:45:53.000 --> 00:45:56.000
There are a couple of guys in this church whose dad used to come and do that to them

00:45:56.000 --> 00:45:57.000
even when they were 18 or 19.

00:45:57.000 --> 00:46:05.000
I don't want to call them out because they might feel a little embarrassed.

00:46:05.000 --> 00:46:10.000
It's a beautiful thing to be loved.

00:46:10.000 --> 00:46:13.000
And the hundreds, just if you take this room,

00:46:13.000 --> 00:46:18.000
at least 50% of this room has not experienced it.

00:46:18.000 --> 00:46:25.000
And it's heartbreaking when you think that you have to now learn it on your own.

00:46:25.000 --> 00:46:27.000
But what if you could learn it?

00:46:27.000 --> 00:46:32.000
What if the church becomes a household where the order of fathers and sons allows you to experience it

00:46:32.000 --> 00:46:34.000
so that you get to do this for someone else?

00:46:34.000 --> 00:46:37.000
Please understand, this is not about consolidating power.

00:46:37.000 --> 00:46:39.000
This is not about demanding honor.

00:46:39.000 --> 00:46:46.000
This is about entering an eternal principle that has been pushed back

00:46:46.000 --> 00:46:49.000
and must be restored if the curse should be banished.

00:46:49.000 --> 00:46:53.000
Otherwise, Shem's son, Kinnon, will still keep suffering

00:46:53.000 --> 00:47:02.000
because Shem did something wrong.

00:47:02.000 --> 00:47:10.000
I can't think of a more selfless message, guys.

00:47:10.000 --> 00:47:15.000
Go to Genesis 9, 22-25, just so you know where the Shem thing happens.

00:47:15.000 --> 00:47:22.000
Genesis 9, 22-25, and you'll see it there.

00:47:22.000 --> 00:47:28.000
Genesis 9, 22-25, and it says,

00:47:28.000 --> 00:47:35.000
When he drank some of his wine, he became drunk, lay uncovered inside his tent,

00:47:35.000 --> 00:47:43.000
Ham the father of Kinnon saw his father's nakedness and told his two brothers outside.

00:47:43.000 --> 00:47:46.000
And then they walking backwards and all this stuff.

00:47:46.000 --> 00:47:50.000
And then verse 24, When Noah awoke from his wine

00:47:50.000 --> 00:47:53.000
and found out that his youngest son had done to him, he said,

00:47:53.000 --> 00:47:54.000
Curse be Kinnon.

00:47:54.000 --> 00:47:56.000
He doesn't say curse be Ham.

00:47:56.000 --> 00:47:58.000
He says curse be Kinnon.

00:47:58.000 --> 00:48:01.000
The lowest of slaves he'll be to his brothers.

00:48:01.000 --> 00:48:04.000
And now go to Malachi 4.

00:48:04.000 --> 00:48:12.000
Malachi 4, the last book in the Bible.

00:48:12.000 --> 00:48:17.000
Malachi 4, verse 6.

00:48:17.000 --> 00:48:22.000
Verse 5, See, I will send you the prophet Elijah before the great and dreadful day of the Lord comes.

00:48:22.000 --> 00:48:24.000
He will turn the hearts of the fathers to their children,

00:48:24.000 --> 00:48:26.000
and the hearts of the children to their fathers,

00:48:26.000 --> 00:48:29.000
or else I will come and strike the land with a curse.

00:48:29.000 --> 00:48:32.000
Now go to Luke 1, 17.

00:48:32.000 --> 00:48:40.000
Luke 1, 17.

00:48:40.000 --> 00:48:48.000
Luke 1, 17.

00:48:48.000 --> 00:48:49.000
Starting at 16.

00:48:49.000 --> 00:48:51.000
Many of the people of Israel will he bring back to the Lord their God,

00:48:51.000 --> 00:48:55.000
and he will go on before the Lord in the spirit and the power of Elijah,

00:48:55.000 --> 00:48:57.000
which is very active in the world today,

00:48:57.000 --> 00:49:00.000
because God always restores what has been broken,

00:49:00.000 --> 00:49:02.000
in the spirit and in the power of Elijah,

00:49:02.000 --> 00:49:04.000
to turn the hearts of the fathers to their children,

00:49:04.000 --> 00:49:06.000
and the disobedient to the wisdom of the righteous,

00:49:06.000 --> 00:49:08.000
to make ready a people prepared for the Lord.

00:49:08.000 --> 00:49:11.000
We are doing this not so that a church begins to do well.

00:49:11.000 --> 00:49:15.000
We are making ready a people for God.

00:49:15.000 --> 00:49:19.000
Come on, man.

00:49:19.000 --> 00:49:21.000
That's what this is meant to do.

00:49:21.000 --> 00:49:24.000
Make ready a people for the Lord.

00:49:24.000 --> 00:49:27.000
It is not possible to say prepare either way of the Lord,

00:49:27.000 --> 00:49:30.000
unless this framework is in operation,

00:49:30.000 --> 00:49:32.000
because you cannot prepare, you cannot process,

00:49:32.000 --> 00:49:34.000
you cannot direct, you cannot command,

00:49:34.000 --> 00:49:37.000
you cannot convey without this order.

00:49:51.000 --> 00:49:55.000
Fathers who are afraid to approach their sons on certain issues

00:49:55.000 --> 00:49:57.000
will destroy the family.

00:49:57.000 --> 00:50:03.000
One of the guys who was so afraid to approach his sons on issues was Eli.

00:50:04.000 --> 00:50:09.000
In 1 Samuel 2, verse 29 and 30,

00:50:09.000 --> 00:50:13.000
Eli refused to stop his sons who were priests.

00:50:13.000 --> 00:50:17.000
He refused to stop them from taking the best cut of the sacrifice

00:50:17.000 --> 00:50:19.000
or sleeping with the women who came to the temple.

00:50:19.000 --> 00:50:22.000
He refused to stop them.

00:50:22.000 --> 00:50:26.000
And in 1 Samuel 2, 29 and 30, God says to Eli,

00:50:26.000 --> 00:50:32.000
why do you go and be okay with your sons doing this

00:50:32.000 --> 00:50:35.000
and spurn my commands?

00:50:35.000 --> 00:50:41.000
Because of this, you and your family will no longer be priests for me.

00:50:41.000 --> 00:50:46.000
When fathers refuse to deal with situations in their sons' lives,

00:50:48.000 --> 00:50:51.000
you will destroy the family.

00:50:51.000 --> 00:50:54.000
And sometimes that's why you need the touchstone

00:50:54.000 --> 00:50:59.000
or the torment of truth before the quality of gold in your sons is revealed.

00:50:59.000 --> 00:51:02.000
That can be a painful process, it can drive people away,

00:51:02.000 --> 00:51:06.000
but it's better that they be driven away

00:51:06.000 --> 00:51:10.000
than for their entire family to be destroyed.

00:51:12.000 --> 00:51:14.000
And so how do we process this?

00:51:14.000 --> 00:51:17.000
We process this as, is this happening with me,

00:51:17.000 --> 00:51:19.000
and is this what I'm doing with others?

00:51:19.000 --> 00:51:22.000
Because we're talking about an order, not about a person.

00:51:22.000 --> 00:51:25.000
A person should model it.

00:51:25.000 --> 00:51:28.000
And to the extent that I've failed in modeling it,

00:51:28.000 --> 00:51:31.000
you can hold me responsible, God will hold me responsible,

00:51:31.000 --> 00:51:35.000
but worse, I will feel terrible that I wasn't able to portray this.

00:51:35.000 --> 00:51:38.000
The intent is that every day I get better at this.

00:51:38.000 --> 00:51:42.000
Because this is so important that if I don't and if you don't,

00:51:42.000 --> 00:51:48.000
we leave the earth once again with something that's not restored.

00:51:52.000 --> 00:52:04.000
The crazy thing is you can't coerce, you can't manipulate free will.

00:52:09.000 --> 00:52:17.000
You can't withdraw love or threaten to withdraw love or favor,

00:52:18.000 --> 00:52:22.000
because you can't coerce or manipulate free will.

00:52:22.000 --> 00:52:28.000
Each one has to decide, because there will be sons who have an orphan spirit.

00:52:30.000 --> 00:52:34.000
There are in this church today, and there has been in this church before,

00:52:34.000 --> 00:52:36.000
and you find them all over.

00:52:36.000 --> 00:52:39.000
I had this spirit for two years, I held out.

00:52:39.000 --> 00:52:41.000
What do you mean held out?

00:52:41.000 --> 00:52:50.000
I had two barriers, and I would not allow for close interaction.

00:52:50.000 --> 00:52:52.000
Why?

00:52:52.000 --> 00:52:56.000
In some cases it's because people have been hurt before,

00:52:56.000 --> 00:52:58.000
or they've had bad experiences.

00:52:58.000 --> 00:53:00.000
Mine was not that.

00:53:00.000 --> 00:53:04.000
Mine was simply, I don't want to submit.

00:53:04.000 --> 00:53:16.000
I want the freedom to choose, to move, to pick.

00:53:16.000 --> 00:53:22.000
I want to play the market, get the best deal.

00:53:28.000 --> 00:53:31.000
When this happens, all you can do is keep applying

00:53:31.000 --> 00:53:33.000
the grace you have as a father.

00:53:33.000 --> 00:53:38.000
You don't sideline the person, you keep applying the grace at intervals.

00:53:38.000 --> 00:53:41.000
Six months later you try again, six months later you try again,

00:53:41.000 --> 00:53:43.000
and you hope the flower is ready to open.

00:53:43.000 --> 00:53:46.000
And if it is not, there's nothing you can do,

00:53:46.000 --> 00:53:51.000
because you cannot coerce or manipulate a man's free will.

00:53:51.000 --> 00:53:56.000
Like I said earlier, in the Bible a person's identity,

00:53:56.000 --> 00:54:03.000
a person's identity, a person's identity and purpose

00:54:03.000 --> 00:54:10.000
is always connected to ancestry and to offspring.

00:54:10.000 --> 00:54:13.000
You know, here's the beautiful thing,

00:54:13.000 --> 00:54:18.000
many of the things that I know that I'm supposed to finish here on earth,

00:54:18.000 --> 00:54:22.000
I realize I may not finish.

00:54:22.000 --> 00:54:25.000
I realize I may not finish.

00:54:25.000 --> 00:54:28.000
I realize that Derek may have to finish it,

00:54:28.000 --> 00:54:30.000
Gillian may have to finish it,

00:54:30.000 --> 00:54:32.000
or Pound may have to finish it,

00:54:32.000 --> 00:54:34.000
or Mike may have to finish it.

00:54:34.000 --> 00:54:37.000
I may not finish it.

00:54:37.000 --> 00:54:42.000
But the beauty of it is, it doesn't bother me anymore.

00:54:42.000 --> 00:54:44.000
Why?

00:54:44.000 --> 00:54:50.000
Because what if, like George said, Derek knows how to do it better?

00:54:50.000 --> 00:54:52.000
What do I have then?

00:54:52.000 --> 00:54:54.000
I have nothing, I don't have a memorial.

00:54:54.000 --> 00:54:56.000
But I have sons that will finish the work.

00:54:56.000 --> 00:54:57.000
Given by who?

00:54:57.000 --> 00:54:59.000
Given by God.

00:54:59.000 --> 00:55:01.000
So, to what end?

00:55:01.000 --> 00:55:05.000
That the earth may benefit.

00:55:05.000 --> 00:55:07.000
What is richer?

00:55:07.000 --> 00:55:09.000
This is why for the Jewish nation,

00:55:09.000 --> 00:55:16.000
the idea of not having an offspring that could carry things forward was devastating.

00:55:16.000 --> 00:55:24.000
They couldn't imagine it.

00:55:24.000 --> 00:55:27.000
But to be able to have God visions crafted in heaven,

00:55:27.000 --> 00:55:29.000
appointed to you,

00:55:29.000 --> 00:55:32.000
and many here have that appointed to you,

00:55:32.000 --> 00:55:36.000
and you hold it, and you shape it, and you flesh it out,

00:55:36.000 --> 00:55:39.000
and you put it into action, but this you know,

00:55:39.000 --> 00:55:43.000
that you may not finish it, but it will be finished.

00:55:43.000 --> 00:55:49.000
This is why David thrills when he realizes that his hands are too bloody,

00:55:49.000 --> 00:55:55.000
and he cannot build a temple to the God he knows like nobody knew.

00:55:55.000 --> 00:55:57.000
And then what does he do?

00:55:57.000 --> 00:56:01.000
He collects things.

00:56:01.000 --> 00:56:02.000
Why?

00:56:02.000 --> 00:56:09.000
Because there's one boy, Solomon, that he seems to be raising correctly.

00:56:09.000 --> 00:56:12.000
Not from any of his previous wives, from Bathsheba,

00:56:12.000 --> 00:56:15.000
that he seems to be raising correctly, and he knows that this boy can build it.

00:56:15.000 --> 00:56:18.000
And that boy had wisdom, though it didn't help him in the end,

00:56:18.000 --> 00:56:19.000
but that boy had wisdom.

00:56:19.000 --> 00:56:21.000
And where did he learn wisdom?

00:56:21.000 --> 00:56:24.000
If you read the book of Proverbs, it says, it's such a beautiful bit.

00:56:24.000 --> 00:56:27.000
I read it during the young adults wisdom class.

00:56:27.000 --> 00:56:36.000
Solomon learned wisdom sitting on the knee of his father.

00:56:36.000 --> 00:56:39.000
I learned wisdom sitting on the knee of my father.

00:56:39.000 --> 00:56:46.000
He bounced me on his knee and taught me wisdom.

00:56:46.000 --> 00:56:49.000
That's how you learn this.

00:56:49.000 --> 00:56:52.000
And he leaves everything, and David goes away happy,

00:56:52.000 --> 00:56:57.000
because he knows that this beautiful temple, and I don't even know how David received it.

00:56:57.000 --> 00:57:01.000
It says, I received the pattern for the temple straight from God,

00:57:01.000 --> 00:57:06.000
just like Moses received it on Mount Sinai, so I received it, and I drew it out.

00:57:06.000 --> 00:57:14.000
What was this download like, man?

00:57:14.000 --> 00:57:21.000
Man, we've got to show the earth how this is done.

00:57:21.000 --> 00:57:26.000
It's time to restore the foundation of generations and to break the generational curse.

00:57:26.000 --> 00:57:28.000
What curse are we breaking?

00:57:28.000 --> 00:57:34.000
If we restore this order back to the earth, how are orders restored back to the earth?

00:57:34.000 --> 00:57:36.000
I heard Derek talk about it when he talked about Shillong.

00:57:36.000 --> 00:57:42.000
150 years ago, Presbyterian and Baptist ministers came to Meghalaya.

00:57:42.000 --> 00:57:47.000
I've been to churches near this place called Cherrapundi, which used to be the rainiest place on earth.

00:57:47.000 --> 00:57:48.000
There's a church there.

00:57:48.000 --> 00:57:51.000
That church has five pillars, and you've heard me say this before.

00:57:51.000 --> 00:57:54.000
On the five pillars are about 100 names.

00:57:54.000 --> 00:57:55.000
You know what the names are?

00:57:55.000 --> 00:58:01.000
The names are the families of Presbyterian missionaries, Scottish missionaries, who came to Meghalaya.

00:58:01.000 --> 00:58:03.000
It's hard to get there today with planes and cars.

00:58:03.000 --> 00:58:04.000
I don't know how they did it.

00:58:04.000 --> 00:58:14.000
The pillars are full of names of little children, grown-up children, wives, husbands that died coming to establish the church in Meghalaya.

00:58:14.000 --> 00:58:16.000
They died of malaria.

00:58:16.000 --> 00:58:18.000
They died of snake bites.

00:58:18.000 --> 00:58:20.000
They died of landslides.

00:58:20.000 --> 00:58:22.000
The names are all written on this church.

00:58:22.000 --> 00:58:25.000
So how is foundations restored?

00:58:25.000 --> 00:58:27.000
Foundations is restored that way.

00:58:27.000 --> 00:58:28.000
You pay a price for it.

00:58:28.000 --> 00:58:32.000
You know why people don't want this relationship besides all the other reasons given?

00:58:32.000 --> 00:58:35.000
Because you have to empty yourself, and it takes time.

00:58:35.000 --> 00:58:37.000
Why go through this?

00:58:37.000 --> 00:58:42.000
Why not just have a pastor and people relationship?

00:58:42.000 --> 00:58:43.000
It's so much easier.

00:58:46.000 --> 00:58:47.000
Meet me from nine to five.

00:58:47.000 --> 00:58:50.000
Speak to my secretary, and then we'll see.

00:58:54.000 --> 00:58:56.000
So how do we establish foundations?

00:58:56.000 --> 00:58:57.000
Painstakingly.

00:58:57.000 --> 00:58:59.000
Till it becomes a foundation.

00:58:59.000 --> 00:59:01.000
And what is the curse that we are banishing?

00:59:01.000 --> 00:59:03.000
Because if we don't, what is the curse we are banishing?

00:59:03.000 --> 00:59:05.000
We are banishing the curse of immaturity.

00:59:05.000 --> 00:59:10.000
Because it's impossible to bring someone into spiritual maturity without this process.

00:59:12.000 --> 00:59:13.000
Mentors don't do it.

00:59:13.000 --> 00:59:18.000
Which is why Paul says in 1 Corinthians 4, 15 to 17, you have many guardians.

00:59:21.000 --> 00:59:24.000
The actual word for guardians is boy teachers.

00:59:24.000 --> 00:59:28.000
Meaning ones that teach your little boy math or piano and stuff like that.

00:59:28.000 --> 00:59:31.000
You have many guardians, but you have few fathers.

00:59:34.000 --> 00:59:36.000
We ban the curse of immaturity.

00:59:37.000 --> 00:59:39.000
We ban the curse of orphanhood.

00:59:42.000 --> 00:59:45.000
So sad when us as believers are orphans, right?

00:59:45.000 --> 00:59:48.000
We ban the curse of single portions.

00:59:48.000 --> 00:59:56.000
Guys, the moment you become a spiritual son, you are immediately in the race for double portions.

00:59:56.000 --> 00:59:58.000
We ban the curse of single portions.

01:00:01.000 --> 01:00:07.000
You can't even imagine what it is to receive twice what God has for you.

01:00:12.000 --> 01:00:16.000
At the end of this teaching, it is not to come and say, Jacob, I want to be a son.

01:00:16.000 --> 01:00:17.000
No, no, no, no.

01:00:17.000 --> 01:00:20.000
This is to establish an order of fathers and sons.

01:00:20.000 --> 01:00:21.000
This becomes a heart.

01:00:21.000 --> 01:00:26.000
If Paul's dad, Eddie, was alive and I was a younger guy, this would have to be my heart towards him.

01:00:26.000 --> 01:00:29.000
And this would have to be my heart towards you.

01:00:29.000 --> 01:00:31.000
We are establishing a foundation here.

01:00:33.000 --> 01:00:35.000
Sorry, Eddie is alive.

01:00:35.000 --> 01:00:36.000
Meaning, thanks.

01:00:39.000 --> 01:00:42.000
If Eddie was here now and if I was younger.

01:00:42.000 --> 01:00:44.000
Yeah, sorry.

01:00:44.000 --> 01:00:45.000
I take that back.

01:00:45.000 --> 01:00:46.000
I take that back.

01:00:46.000 --> 01:00:48.000
If Eddie was here now and if I was younger.

01:00:48.000 --> 01:00:50.000
Yeah, sorry.

01:00:50.000 --> 01:00:51.000
I take that back.

01:00:51.000 --> 01:00:52.000
Paul, I apologize.

01:00:56.000 --> 01:01:11.000
Immaturity, orphanhood, single portion, relationships, desolate inheritances where you have an inheritance but you don't know how to get it or don't know how to cultivate it.

01:01:11.000 --> 01:01:19.000
All these things get banned and instead you get the blessings of 1 Thessalonians 2.

01:01:19.000 --> 01:01:21.000
1 Thessalonians 2.

01:01:25.000 --> 01:01:26.000
9 to 12.

01:01:26.000 --> 01:01:27.000
You should go read it.

01:01:27.000 --> 01:01:30.000
Paul says, I labored, I labored.

01:01:30.000 --> 01:01:32.000
I labored so that you could take it easy.

01:01:32.000 --> 01:01:36.000
I labored so that you can enjoy the blessings that I have labored for.

01:01:36.000 --> 01:01:38.000
That's part of what dads do.

01:01:42.000 --> 01:01:43.000
For discipleship.

01:01:43.000 --> 01:01:44.000
Oh my God.

01:01:44.000 --> 01:01:49.000
There's no better way to make disciples than through disorder because it's revelational.

01:01:50.000 --> 01:01:52.000
And I know I said this is relational.

01:01:54.000 --> 01:01:55.000
It's generational.

01:01:57.000 --> 01:01:58.000
And it's global.

01:02:00.000 --> 01:02:01.000
Here's an odd statistic.

01:02:01.000 --> 01:02:03.000
Don't try calculating it now.

01:02:03.000 --> 01:02:06.000
Someone calculated it so you can go home and check it.

01:02:07.000 --> 01:02:15.000
A man who starts with 10 that he raises as sons, if those 10 would raise another 10,

01:02:15.000 --> 01:02:21.000
in 12 years you would raise 10,000, in 18 years you would raise a million,

01:02:21.000 --> 01:02:24.000
in 35 years you would raise 8 billion.

01:02:24.000 --> 01:02:26.000
You would cover the earth.

01:02:26.000 --> 01:02:30.000
If everyone responded, let's assume that the moment you do this everyone responds.

01:02:30.000 --> 01:02:33.000
A man who raises 10, if they can raise another 10,

01:02:33.000 --> 01:02:38.000
in 12 years 10,000 people, in 18 years a million people,

01:02:38.000 --> 01:02:42.000
in 35 years 8 billion people.

01:02:42.000 --> 01:02:44.000
If everybody responded, obviously they won't.

01:02:48.000 --> 01:02:50.000
That's how the earth got to 8 billion, man.

01:02:50.000 --> 01:02:52.000
People had sons and the sons had sons.

01:02:54.000 --> 01:02:58.000
If everyone decided in Genesis that they will be like Jacob,

01:02:58.000 --> 01:03:00.000
they would only be a Jacob around now.

01:03:00.000 --> 01:03:03.000
But thank God people decided to have children.

01:03:08.000 --> 01:03:11.000
The reason this divine order is ignored is because, like I said,

01:03:11.000 --> 01:03:15.000
it takes time and it needs an emptying of self.

01:03:15.000 --> 01:03:19.000
And none of us are born as fathers full of love and wisdom,

01:03:19.000 --> 01:03:25.000
nor are you born as sons who are ready and perfect.

01:03:25.000 --> 01:03:27.000
That I can absolutely testify for.

01:03:31.000 --> 01:03:34.000
We can live as Christians.

01:03:34.000 --> 01:03:39.000
We can love, we can be loved, we can heal others, we can hear,

01:03:39.000 --> 01:03:42.000
but we can never fulfill kingdom and ministry purpose

01:03:42.000 --> 01:03:44.000
without being connected to this order.

01:03:44.000 --> 01:03:46.000
Any questions before I end?

01:03:46.000 --> 01:03:48.000
I'll just touch on submission and we'll stop.

01:03:52.000 --> 01:03:53.000
Any questions?

01:03:56.000 --> 01:03:58.000
You know the forerunner anointing?

01:03:58.000 --> 01:04:03.000
Where you are the one who goes ahead and breaks things open?

01:04:03.000 --> 01:04:05.000
Even the forerunner anointing,

01:04:05.000 --> 01:04:08.000
which is almost like saying the spirit of Elijah,

01:04:08.000 --> 01:04:11.000
does not work in any other framework other than this.

01:04:11.000 --> 01:04:14.000
How can you forerun if nobody is following after you?

01:04:14.000 --> 01:04:17.000
What can you give to them if they haven't been raised

01:04:17.000 --> 01:04:19.000
as ones that come after you?

01:04:19.000 --> 01:04:22.000
You know, the strange thing is God is always known as the God of Elijah.

01:04:22.000 --> 01:04:25.000
Elijah was the one who raised the 51.

01:04:25.000 --> 01:04:27.000
Elijah gets a double portion.

01:04:27.000 --> 01:04:29.000
It says the sons of the prophet.

01:04:29.000 --> 01:04:31.000
It doesn't say school of prophets,

01:04:31.000 --> 01:04:33.000
it doesn't say disciple of prophets,

01:04:33.000 --> 01:04:35.000
it says the sons of the prophets.

01:04:37.000 --> 01:04:39.000
I had someone write to me recently saying,

01:04:39.000 --> 01:04:43.000
other than 1 Corinthians 9, 1 Corinthians 4,

01:04:43.000 --> 01:04:45.000
where else does it talk about this?

01:04:45.000 --> 01:04:50.000
The whole Bible is replete with this.

01:04:53.000 --> 01:04:55.000
Let me just touch on submission then.

01:04:55.000 --> 01:04:59.000
Next week, God willing, we'll do qualification of sons.

01:04:59.000 --> 01:05:01.000
Submission is a key word.

01:05:03.000 --> 01:05:08.000
Submission is a key word in understanding.

01:05:10.000 --> 01:05:18.000
It's a key word in understanding the order of fathers and sons.

01:05:26.000 --> 01:05:29.000
Submission is a characteristic.

01:05:29.000 --> 01:05:33.000
Submission is the characteristic

01:05:38.000 --> 01:05:49.000
that determines the character of a vessel,

01:05:49.000 --> 01:05:53.000
or in this case, a son or an employee.

01:05:53.000 --> 01:05:57.000
It doesn't matter which situation you put it in.

01:05:58.000 --> 01:05:59.000
How does submission work?

01:05:59.000 --> 01:06:04.000
Submission is first to the truth of God,

01:06:07.000 --> 01:06:11.000
second to the arrangement on earth,

01:06:15.000 --> 01:06:22.000
third to people or individuals.

01:06:23.000 --> 01:06:24.000
This is the order.

01:06:25.000 --> 01:06:27.000
It's easier to submit to someone

01:06:27.000 --> 01:06:29.000
if I first submit to the truth of God.

01:06:29.000 --> 01:06:32.000
Then I submit to the arrangement of God.

01:06:33.000 --> 01:06:38.000
Does every wife like the idea of her husband being first among equals

01:06:38.000 --> 01:06:39.000
in the scripture that says,

01:06:39.000 --> 01:06:41.000
wives submit to your husbands?

01:06:41.000 --> 01:06:42.000
No.

01:06:42.000 --> 01:06:44.000
They chaff ever since the fall,

01:06:44.000 --> 01:06:48.000
since the woman yearned for dominion,

01:06:48.000 --> 01:06:50.000
it has been that way.

01:06:50.000 --> 01:06:52.000
But first is to the truth of God,

01:06:52.000 --> 01:06:56.000
that this is, God is a servant to begin with.

01:06:57.000 --> 01:06:59.000
Second, the arrangement of God.

01:06:59.000 --> 01:07:01.000
This is how I've arranged things here on earth,

01:07:01.000 --> 01:07:04.000
to prosper you, to protect you, to provide for you.

01:07:04.000 --> 01:07:07.000
Third, to the person, to the individual.

01:07:07.000 --> 01:07:11.000
That's when it gets really not fun,

01:07:11.000 --> 01:07:13.000
when you have to submit to an individual.

01:07:13.000 --> 01:07:16.000
I'll submit to the arrangement, I'll submit to God,

01:07:16.000 --> 01:07:18.000
and I'll submit to the truth of the word,

01:07:18.000 --> 01:07:19.000
but please don't give me an individual.

01:07:19.000 --> 01:07:20.000
It doesn't work like that.

01:07:20.000 --> 01:07:21.000
It doesn't work like that.

01:07:21.000 --> 01:07:23.000
Eventually it gets down to the individual.

01:07:35.000 --> 01:07:38.000
And the individual is often a faulty person.

01:07:38.000 --> 01:07:41.000
Please note, I'm saying faulty, not sinful.

01:07:42.000 --> 01:07:45.000
When it's a sinful person, then it becomes a severe problem.

01:07:45.000 --> 01:07:51.000
Then that person is an absentee, or a dysfunctional,

01:07:51.000 --> 01:07:54.000
or an illegitimate father, an abusive father.

01:07:56.000 --> 01:07:59.000
God help me, if I'm one of those,

01:07:59.000 --> 01:08:01.000
He will judge me for what I do to you.

01:08:02.000 --> 01:08:03.000
This is what Jesus said,

01:08:03.000 --> 01:08:05.000
you let one of them go astray.

01:08:05.000 --> 01:08:08.000
It would be better, Jacob, if you put a millstone around your neck

01:08:08.000 --> 01:08:10.000
and jumped off the Alex Fraser.

01:08:15.000 --> 01:08:31.000
True sons submit to the Father's voice.

01:08:31.000 --> 01:08:34.000
I'm talking about not God the Father,

01:08:34.000 --> 01:08:37.000
now I'm talking about spiritual or ministry fathers.

01:08:37.000 --> 01:08:39.000
True sons submit to the Father's voice,

01:08:39.000 --> 01:08:44.000
they heed correction, and take direction.

01:08:46.000 --> 01:08:50.000
Thank God you're a church that is a blessed church in this sense.

01:08:50.000 --> 01:08:53.000
This is not some kind of an attempt to get you to do this

01:08:53.000 --> 01:08:56.000
because I don't have a problem here in this church.

01:08:56.000 --> 01:08:58.000
Illegitimate sons

01:09:04.000 --> 01:09:05.000
resist

01:09:09.000 --> 01:09:11.000
counsel

01:09:12.000 --> 01:09:14.000
resist counsel

01:09:16.000 --> 01:09:25.000
and resist the rebuke of the Father.

01:09:25.000 --> 01:09:28.000
I know the questions that will come up now,

01:09:28.000 --> 01:09:32.000
but what if the ministry of spiritual fathers is wrong?

01:09:32.000 --> 01:09:35.000
Then follow the same principle,

01:09:35.000 --> 01:09:38.000
submission to the truth, submission to the arrangement,

01:09:38.000 --> 01:09:40.000
submission to the individual.

01:09:42.000 --> 01:09:45.000
I know that you're not going to be able to do this

01:09:45.000 --> 01:09:47.000
if you don't have a spiritual father.

01:09:47.000 --> 01:09:49.000
You're not going to be able to do this

01:09:49.000 --> 01:09:51.000
if you don't have a spiritual father.

01:09:51.000 --> 01:09:54.000
Submission to the arrangement, submission to the individual.

01:09:56.000 --> 01:10:00.000
But what if I've had a bad experience

01:10:00.000 --> 01:10:03.000
where I got severely burnt in the past?

01:10:04.000 --> 01:10:07.000
It's legitimate. How long has it been?

01:10:07.000 --> 01:10:10.000
Usually, bad experience excuses,

01:10:10.000 --> 01:10:12.000
if they last longer than three years,

01:10:12.000 --> 01:10:14.000
is no longer an excuse.

01:10:14.000 --> 01:10:17.000
Three years is enough both for people, counselors,

01:10:17.000 --> 01:10:20.000
Jane, and the Holy Spirit to heal you.

01:10:21.000 --> 01:10:29.000
Oh, but what if it happens again?

01:10:29.000 --> 01:10:31.000
Well, then be careful.

01:10:31.000 --> 01:10:35.000
If you find that the people that are raising you up

01:10:35.000 --> 01:10:37.000
are people that cannot be trusted,

01:10:37.000 --> 01:10:39.000
people that are out to get you, people that will exploit you,

01:10:39.000 --> 01:10:42.000
people that can be abusive, people that will hurt you,

01:10:42.000 --> 01:10:44.000
yeah, then keep a healthy distance.

01:10:44.000 --> 01:10:46.000
But if that is not the reason,

01:10:46.000 --> 01:10:49.000
then it's highly individualized independence

01:10:49.000 --> 01:10:51.000
that is causing this, nothing else.

01:11:00.000 --> 01:11:01.000
And should you begin this process,

01:11:01.000 --> 01:11:03.000
and we'll talk about this next week,

01:11:03.000 --> 01:11:08.000
you'll find that as much as you will enjoy the blessings and mantles,

01:11:08.000 --> 01:11:11.000
you will also enjoy the sackcloth and the reproaches.

01:11:11.000 --> 01:11:15.000
Leonard Ravenhill, and I know there's a famous quote,

01:11:15.000 --> 01:11:17.000
his son, everybody was coming to him.

01:11:17.000 --> 01:11:19.000
He was a very famous fiery preacher.

01:11:19.000 --> 01:11:21.000
Everyone was coming to him when he was dying and saying,

01:11:21.000 --> 01:11:24.000
can you pray for me and give me a double portion of your anointing?

01:11:24.000 --> 01:11:26.000
And he called his son David, and then he said,

01:11:26.000 --> 01:11:30.000
David, everybody wants my mantle, nobody wants my sackcloth.

01:11:30.000 --> 01:11:33.000
And so it's very rare that you have sons

01:11:33.000 --> 01:11:36.000
that share the reproach of their fathers.

01:11:36.000 --> 01:11:37.000
Very rare.

01:11:37.000 --> 01:11:40.000
Where when something, when the father suffers the reproach,

01:11:40.000 --> 01:11:42.000
that the sons come along and say,

01:11:42.000 --> 01:11:44.000
we want to bear the burden and the sadness.

01:11:44.000 --> 01:11:46.000
Very rare.

01:11:46.000 --> 01:11:48.000
Ah.

01:11:48.000 --> 01:11:56.000
When that happens, you have a household and a foundation that'll stand.

01:11:56.000 --> 01:11:57.000
Any questions?

01:11:57.000 --> 01:11:59.000
I'm done.

01:11:59.000 --> 01:12:01.000
Go ahead.

01:12:01.000 --> 01:12:03.000
Sorry.

01:12:03.000 --> 01:12:05.000
Yeah.

01:12:05.000 --> 01:12:06.000
Like I said earlier,

01:12:06.000 --> 01:12:11.000
if I am someone who has grown to a place where I'm now,

01:12:11.000 --> 01:12:16.000
I've reached a place of maturity and I now can function as a father,

01:12:16.000 --> 01:12:18.000
I can be a father.

01:12:18.000 --> 01:12:20.000
And I can be a father.

01:12:20.000 --> 01:12:22.000
And I can be a father.

01:12:22.000 --> 01:12:24.000
And I can be a father.

01:12:24.000 --> 01:12:26.000
And I can be a father.

01:12:26.000 --> 01:12:28.000
And I can be a father.

01:12:28.000 --> 01:12:30.000
If I am someone who has grown to a place of maturity

01:12:30.000 --> 01:12:32.000
and I now can function as a father,

01:12:32.000 --> 01:12:35.000
then if, let's say,

01:12:35.000 --> 01:12:38.000
dishalty resists counsel,

01:12:38.000 --> 01:12:40.000
then there's nothing I can do.

01:12:40.000 --> 01:12:42.000
I can't withdraw what I'm doing.

01:12:42.000 --> 01:12:44.000
I have to show him the same favor.

01:12:44.000 --> 01:12:48.000
Doesn't matter what he does with AI to how I look.

01:12:48.000 --> 01:12:54.000
I still have to love him.

01:12:54.000 --> 01:12:57.000
By the way, it's a process, hey?

01:12:57.000 --> 01:13:00.000
The relationship through fatherhood is a process.

01:13:00.000 --> 01:13:03.000
It's a process of maturity.

01:13:03.000 --> 01:13:04.000
Yeah?

01:13:04.000 --> 01:13:06.000
It's a process of maturity.

01:13:06.000 --> 01:13:08.000
So on one hand, we are teaching the order of fathers and sons,

01:13:08.000 --> 01:13:10.000
but we are not making the leap or the assumption

01:13:10.000 --> 01:13:12.000
that all of us are fathers and sons.

01:13:12.000 --> 01:13:15.000
We are not.

01:13:15.000 --> 01:13:16.000
We are not.

01:13:16.000 --> 01:13:20.000
But I'm confident that all of us can be fathers and sons.

01:13:20.000 --> 01:13:22.000
Can Joey be a father?

01:13:22.000 --> 01:13:24.000
Can Eliakim be a father?

01:13:24.000 --> 01:13:27.000
The word Eliakim means God rises.

01:13:27.000 --> 01:13:29.000
It also means God will raise.

01:13:29.000 --> 01:13:31.000
That's the meaning of the word Eliakim.

01:13:31.000 --> 01:13:32.000
Can Eliakim be a father?

01:13:32.000 --> 01:13:33.000
Yes.

01:13:33.000 --> 01:13:35.000
But can he be a father tomorrow?

01:13:35.000 --> 01:13:36.000
No.

01:13:36.000 --> 01:13:43.000
Dawn is about learning it right now.

01:13:43.000 --> 01:13:44.000
So it's a process.

01:13:44.000 --> 01:13:47.000
There's process, there's direction that's involved,

01:13:47.000 --> 01:13:49.000
there's correction that's involved,

01:13:49.000 --> 01:13:51.000
and then finally you come to a place

01:13:51.000 --> 01:13:54.000
where you are mature to walk in it.

01:13:54.000 --> 01:13:58.000
Any other questions?

01:13:58.000 --> 01:13:59.000
Come, Vivek.

01:13:59.000 --> 01:14:02.000
Pray.

01:14:02.000 --> 01:14:04.000
Any other questions before Vivek comes up?

01:14:04.000 --> 01:14:07.000
Go ahead.

01:14:07.000 --> 01:14:12.000
I want to know what my role is if there's a friend of mine

01:14:12.000 --> 01:14:15.000
and another father.

01:14:15.000 --> 01:14:19.000
This father is trying to teach things to his friend of mine.

01:14:19.000 --> 01:14:21.000
What is my role?

01:14:21.000 --> 01:14:22.000
Yeah.

01:14:22.000 --> 01:14:26.000
So let's assume that I am...

01:14:26.000 --> 01:14:29.000
Let's assume that Shireen is Jane's friend,

01:14:29.000 --> 01:14:33.000
and I am talking to Shireen about stuff.

01:14:33.000 --> 01:14:36.000
Jane's role is to find out what I'm saying to Shireen

01:14:36.000 --> 01:14:40.000
so that Jane can support me in what I'm saying to Shireen.

01:14:40.000 --> 01:14:44.000
Jane can also have things that she knows Shireen needs

01:14:44.000 --> 01:14:45.000
because Shireen talks to her,

01:14:45.000 --> 01:14:47.000
and then Jane can talk to Shireen about that.

01:14:47.000 --> 01:14:49.000
But at the end of the day,

01:14:49.000 --> 01:14:52.000
it must follow the vision or the plan that is set by the father,

01:14:52.000 --> 01:14:55.000
and sometimes it is easily communicable

01:14:55.000 --> 01:14:57.000
by just talking to each other.

01:14:57.000 --> 01:14:59.000
And when I don't talk, if Jane doesn't talk to me,

01:14:59.000 --> 01:15:02.000
she doesn't know what I'm talking to Shireen about.

01:15:02.000 --> 01:15:04.000
So I might say to Shireen that, Shireen,

01:15:04.000 --> 01:15:06.000
you're really good at painting.

01:15:06.000 --> 01:15:08.000
You need to use oil paints.

01:15:08.000 --> 01:15:11.000
And Jane wants to say to her, you should use felt colors.

01:15:11.000 --> 01:15:13.000
And so she comes and talks to me, and I say,

01:15:13.000 --> 01:15:15.000
let us start with oil paints first,

01:15:15.000 --> 01:15:17.000
and then we can go to felt colors.

01:15:17.000 --> 01:15:19.000
That communication helps.

01:15:19.000 --> 01:15:20.000
So at the end of the day,

01:15:20.000 --> 01:15:22.000
if you were the older sister in a family,

01:15:22.000 --> 01:15:24.000
and I was the father of that family,

01:15:24.000 --> 01:15:25.000
it would be the same.

01:15:25.000 --> 01:15:29.000
You wouldn't give directions to your younger sister.

01:15:29.000 --> 01:15:31.000
You would come and check with me, saying,

01:15:31.000 --> 01:15:33.000
this is what I want to say to my sister.

01:15:33.000 --> 01:15:35.000
What do you think, Dad?

01:15:36.000 --> 01:15:38.000
So that's how it works.

01:15:38.000 --> 01:15:40.000
And sometimes there's a breakdown there,

01:15:40.000 --> 01:15:42.000
but we are learning.

01:15:42.000 --> 01:15:44.000
We are learning.

01:15:44.000 --> 01:15:45.000
Any other questions?

01:15:45.000 --> 01:15:48.000
Vivek, if you don't come, questions will go on, man.

01:15:52.000 --> 01:15:54.000
Humble boy.

01:15:55.000 --> 01:15:56.000
Any other questions?

01:15:56.000 --> 01:15:58.000
Vivek can wait.

01:15:58.000 --> 01:16:00.000
Father's wrestling with sons?

01:16:00.000 --> 01:16:02.000
Not giving you your way.

01:16:02.000 --> 01:16:04.000
Yeah, I want to do this.

01:16:04.000 --> 01:16:06.000
No, I can't take away your free will.

01:16:06.000 --> 01:16:09.000
Oh my God, I'm going to try and put hindrances in your path

01:16:09.000 --> 01:16:11.000
so that you don't go down that road.

01:16:13.000 --> 01:16:16.000
Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.

01:16:17.000 --> 01:16:18.000
Wrestle, wrestle.

01:16:18.000 --> 01:16:20.000
Joey, you support the Canucks.

01:16:20.000 --> 01:16:21.000
Doesn't matter what your dad does.

01:16:21.000 --> 01:16:22.000
You support the Canucks.

01:16:22.000 --> 01:16:23.000
Wrestle.

01:16:23.000 --> 01:16:27.000
Yeah, wrestling is basically jockeying for position

01:16:27.000 --> 01:16:31.000
so that the one you're raising is advantaged.

01:16:32.000 --> 01:16:36.000
And if you don't wrestle, then what they say is what they do.

01:16:36.000 --> 01:16:38.000
You must try and stop them.

01:16:40.000 --> 01:16:42.000
Jesus did this, not Jesus.

01:16:42.000 --> 01:16:44.000
God did this.

01:16:44.000 --> 01:16:46.000
Jesus did this.

01:16:46.000 --> 01:16:48.000
He did this.

01:16:48.000 --> 01:16:50.000
He did this.

01:16:50.000 --> 01:16:51.000
Not Jesus.

01:16:51.000 --> 01:16:53.000
God did this.

01:16:53.000 --> 01:16:55.000
Genesis chapter 4.

01:16:55.000 --> 01:16:57.000
He goes up to Cain and he says to Cain,

01:16:57.000 --> 01:16:59.000
Cain, Cain,

01:17:00.000 --> 01:17:02.000
Satan is trying to get you.

01:17:02.000 --> 01:17:05.000
But do not give into anger because if you do give into anger,

01:17:05.000 --> 01:17:07.000
it'll end disastrously.

01:17:07.000 --> 01:17:08.000
He's going and intervening.

01:17:08.000 --> 01:17:10.000
He's wrestling with Cain.

01:17:10.000 --> 01:17:12.000
Saying, don't go down this road.

01:17:12.000 --> 01:17:14.000
Cain still chooses to.

01:17:17.000 --> 01:17:19.000
Any other questions?

01:17:20.000 --> 01:17:22.000
Yeah.

01:17:22.000 --> 01:17:24.000
Generational curses are no longer applicable.

01:17:24.000 --> 01:17:25.000
Good question, Mira.

01:17:25.000 --> 01:17:30.000
So what do you mean, Jacob, when you're talking about curses that go down generations?

01:17:30.000 --> 01:17:35.000
I'm not talking about generational curses that are taken care of at the cross.

01:17:35.000 --> 01:17:37.000
I'm talking about the...

01:17:37.000 --> 01:17:39.000
Let me define curse here.

01:17:39.000 --> 01:17:46.000
Curse is a condition of what happens when a person does not have someone to raise them up.

01:17:46.000 --> 01:17:48.000
Like immaturity.

01:17:48.000 --> 01:17:50.000
Like not having an inheritance.

01:17:50.000 --> 01:17:52.000
Like not having a relationship.

01:17:52.000 --> 01:17:54.000
Like being an orphan.

01:17:54.000 --> 01:17:59.000
These are not sickness curses or satanic curses or anything.

01:17:59.000 --> 01:18:02.000
But my God, it is worse.

01:18:02.000 --> 01:18:04.000
It is worse.

01:18:06.000 --> 01:18:08.000
It is terrible.

01:18:08.000 --> 01:18:14.000
Derek and I were at Shillong and there was a grown-up pastor who was doing well, Tage.

01:18:15.000 --> 01:18:20.000
And at one point he just started calling out to the Lord and saying, I want this, I want this.

01:18:20.000 --> 01:18:22.000
All I did was go grab him and hold him.

01:18:22.000 --> 01:18:26.000
And the guy was weeping worse than Eliakim or Joey.

01:18:26.000 --> 01:18:28.000
Just sobs, broken sobs.

01:18:28.000 --> 01:18:29.000
Why?

01:18:29.000 --> 01:18:32.000
Because he never knew what it was to be held.

01:18:32.000 --> 01:18:38.000
That kind of curse is sometimes worse than a healing or a demonic attack.

01:18:38.000 --> 01:18:40.000
Because that can be broken in the name of Jesus Christ.

01:18:40.000 --> 01:18:45.000
But this colors your psyche so deeply that it takes forever to get out of it.

01:18:47.000 --> 01:18:48.000
That's what I meant.

01:18:48.000 --> 01:18:51.000
Good question because you have to separate that.

01:18:53.000 --> 01:18:55.000
Any other questions?

01:18:56.000 --> 01:19:00.000
Whatever you're saying that fathers are responsible for their sons.

01:19:00.000 --> 01:19:05.000
When they don't have the money to help them get free will.

01:19:05.000 --> 01:19:09.000
So how in conflict do they lose out on the place?

01:19:09.000 --> 01:19:13.000
Yeah, fathers are responsible for their sons but they have to have free will.

01:19:13.000 --> 01:19:14.000
How does that work?

01:19:14.000 --> 01:19:17.000
You are responsible to give them the best options, the best choices.

01:19:17.000 --> 01:19:21.000
Wrestle them, help them, open it for them, try to stop them.

01:19:21.000 --> 01:19:23.000
You do everything and then you have to step away.

01:19:23.000 --> 01:19:25.000
It's exactly what God does with you and I.

01:19:25.000 --> 01:19:28.000
He says, Jacob, he even presents choices.

01:19:28.000 --> 01:19:33.000
He opens ways and after all that you're standing at a fork.

01:19:33.000 --> 01:19:38.000
And he'll even put obstacles that you have to get over to not go down the wrong path.

01:19:38.000 --> 01:19:43.000
But after doing everything responsible, he does not take your free will to choose away.

01:19:48.000 --> 01:19:52.000
Leave the door open because they will come back like the prodigal.

01:19:52.000 --> 01:19:58.000
Or they will come back like the man who slept with his stepmother in 1 Corinthians.

01:19:58.000 --> 01:20:05.000
Because trust me man, when sin begins to get disciplined, you will want back.

01:20:07.000 --> 01:20:09.000
It's not fun.

01:20:09.000 --> 01:20:12.000
Discipline is always towards restoring.

01:20:12.000 --> 01:20:17.000
So when you want revenge, ask for discipline.

01:20:17.000 --> 01:20:19.000
Don't do what David did.

01:20:19.000 --> 01:20:20.000
Destroy his family.

01:20:20.000 --> 01:20:21.000
Destroy his family.

01:20:21.000 --> 01:20:22.000
Remove him from the earth.

01:20:22.000 --> 01:20:23.000
May his wife be swallowed.

01:20:23.000 --> 01:20:25.000
May his child fall into the well.

01:20:25.000 --> 01:20:27.000
Don't go down that summer.

01:20:27.000 --> 01:20:31.000
Just say, oh God, discipline them so that they can come back.

01:20:31.000 --> 01:20:35.000
And then quickly also add, but give me more grace and don't discipline me immediately.

01:20:35.000 --> 01:20:37.000
Yeah.

01:20:37.000 --> 01:20:40.000
You don't want that to fall on you.

01:20:40.000 --> 01:20:42.000
Any other questions?

01:20:42.000 --> 01:20:44.000
Xavier, would you please come up?

01:20:44.000 --> 01:20:54.000
Now Xavier is going to pray a prayer that will sum all this up from a father's heart with great wisdom.

01:20:54.000 --> 01:20:56.000
Yeah.

01:20:56.000 --> 01:20:58.000
Happy birthday.

01:20:58.000 --> 01:21:00.000
Thank you.

01:21:00.000 --> 01:21:03.000
I'm going to try.

01:21:03.000 --> 01:21:15.000
So Abba, I just want to pray that we all submit to this framework, Abba.

01:21:15.000 --> 01:21:22.000
And as Jacob was talking about it in the beginning, that not of something only this church does,

01:21:22.000 --> 01:21:29.000
or just because Jacob talked about it today, but recognize it as a framework you have given us, Abba.

01:21:29.000 --> 01:21:37.000
But while I say that also, we are placed in this body by you, Abba.

01:21:37.000 --> 01:21:49.000
So may we recognize true fathers and at the same time have the mindset of true sons.

01:21:49.000 --> 01:22:00.000
And to those who are young, we pray that they get a vision of how to be true fathers to the next generation, Abba.

01:22:00.000 --> 01:22:04.000
Yeah, Abba.

01:22:04.000 --> 01:22:07.000
So we ask that our hearts be open to this.

01:22:07.000 --> 01:22:13.000
And let there be so many true sons and fathers in this body, Abba.

01:22:13.000 --> 01:22:16.000
I ask this in your name. Amen.

01:22:19.000 --> 01:22:21.000
Amen.
