I’m a Son

I’m a Son

My heart—it’s time to pick up the pace
To run so I can win the race
Adopted out of empty ways
To come to your table and take my place
I want to live a life of faith
To the world I’ll reflect Your face

I’m a son, I am not a slave, I’m a son

I come to the Father unafraid
Because Jesus has removed my blame
When darkness falls, He lights my way
When I stray from the path, He calls my name
My life is the altar, His presence the flame

I will never return to life in chains

I’m a son, I am not a slave

Living in freedom and freedom in me
Not a cog in the machine
I’m a Part of Christ’s body
Giving sight to what is unseen
Restoring what’s broken or incomplete
I follow where the Spirit leads

I’m a son, I am not a slave

Jesus help me to fix my eyes
Only on You and not turn aside
Father teach me to be wise
Discerning Your heart, exposing all lies
Spirit give words to my cries
To speak Your will into broken lives
Oh God I need You, I need You right now
To follow Your voice and not to back down

I’m a son, I am not a slave
I’m a son, I’m Your DNA
I’m a son, I’m called by Your name.
I’m a son.
