We talked about the fact that in 00:00:58.640 --> 00:01:07.640 Isaiah 6 we talk about the fact that in Isaiah 6 we talk about the fact that in Isaiah 6 we 00:01:07.640 --> 00:01:16.640 talk about the fact that in Isaiah 6 we talk about the fact that in Isaiah 6 we talk about 00:01:16.640 --> 00:01:23.640 how much more than anything else this is who God actually is. And that is the fact that 00:01:23.640 --> 00:01:28.640 in Isaiah 6 we talk about how much more than anything else this is who God actually is. 00:01:28.640 --> 00:01:37.640 And that is the fact that in Isaiah 6 we talk about the fact that in Isaiah 6 we talk about 00:01:37.640 --> 00:01:54.640 and if holiness is what makes, if holiness makes God distinct and separate and set apart and other, 00:01:54.640 --> 00:02:14.640 then glory is holiness made public or glory is the visible manifestation of holy. 00:02:14.640 --> 00:02:22.640 And so if you go and listen to the teaching from last week, these things were mentioned there. 00:02:22.640 --> 00:02:29.640 And then we've ended with this trick where what about looking at Him 40 times an hour? 00:02:29.640 --> 00:02:40.640 What if you looked at Him? If you looked at the Holy One of Israel, 40 times an hour, it'll change you. 00:02:40.640 --> 00:02:49.640 That's where we ended. That's what we talked about last time. So we continue with that now. 00:02:49.640 --> 00:02:59.640 So when you read Isaiah 6-3 from the New English Translation, and if I were to write it, this is what it would look like. 00:02:59.640 --> 00:03:05.640 Last time we talked about what is the connection between holy, holy, holy and the whole earth is full of His glory. 00:03:05.640 --> 00:03:10.640 What's the connection? And so we'll talk about that. So what are we looking at today? 00:03:10.640 --> 00:03:26.640 So what we're looking at today, it says, Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts. 00:03:26.640 --> 00:03:41.640 And then it says, the whole earth is filled with His glory. 00:03:41.640 --> 00:03:50.640 And we did mention last time that when you look at what precedes glory filling the whole earth, it's holy, holy, holy. 00:03:50.640 --> 00:03:56.640 What precedes sending? It's again, here I am, send me is preceded by holy, holy. 00:03:56.640 --> 00:04:01.640 What precedes the kingdom coming? Hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come. 00:04:01.640 --> 00:04:06.640 What precedes the opening of ancient gates? You have to ascend the hill to the Holy One. 00:04:06.640 --> 00:04:13.640 And so this idea of holy is somehow connected with the whole earth is filled with your glory. 00:04:13.640 --> 00:04:21.640 And that's what we are trying to see today. How is it connected? How is this connected to this? 00:04:21.640 --> 00:04:28.640 Because it will affect how we do missions, how we look at the nations of the earth, if we can figure that out. 00:04:28.640 --> 00:04:33.640 So we'll try. So if I were to write it differently, guys, here's what it'll look like. 00:04:33.640 --> 00:04:58.640 The earth is filled with the glorious splendor of the Lord of Heaven's armies 00:04:58.640 --> 00:05:04.640 who is holy. 00:05:04.640 --> 00:05:08.640 This is what we are saying. Just think of that for a second. 00:05:08.640 --> 00:05:16.640 If you take Isaiah 6-3 and the NET actually worded it that way, I've just moved the words around. 00:05:16.640 --> 00:05:24.640 This is what we are saying. We are saying that the earth is actually filled with a glorious splendor, 00:05:24.640 --> 00:05:29.640 I mean, the glorious splendor. I don't know how to explain it. 00:05:29.640 --> 00:05:33.640 I mean, on Saturdays and Sundays I wake up earlier than any of you. 00:05:33.640 --> 00:05:37.640 And I see the glorious splendor of the sunrise, which you guys see on weekdays. 00:05:37.640 --> 00:05:50.640 And from where I see, I can see the early morning sun fall upon the water on the Fraser River, 00:05:50.640 --> 00:05:58.640 on the bay near UBC, on the Point Roberts area, Tuassan Ferries. 00:05:58.640 --> 00:06:02.640 I can see it all. And as it moves, it just begins to shimmer gold and red. 00:06:02.640 --> 00:06:10.640 And so that's just the splendor of the sun on the water and the early morning sun with Mount Baker in the background. 00:06:10.640 --> 00:06:17.640 And so we're talking about the earth is filled with the glorious splendor of the Lord of Heaven's armies. 00:06:17.640 --> 00:06:24.640 So he's not some kind of soft, compassionate God, which he is. But that's not how he's being portrayed. 00:06:24.640 --> 00:06:28.640 He's being portrayed as the Lord of the Lord of Heaven's armies. 00:06:28.640 --> 00:06:33.640 Because the Lord of hosts is actually the Lord of Heaven's armies. 00:06:33.640 --> 00:06:42.640 So God is actually saying that the earth is filled with my glorious splendor. 00:06:42.640 --> 00:06:48.640 Who am I? I am the Lord of Heaven's armies and I am holy. 00:06:48.640 --> 00:06:51.640 This is what he's saying. 00:06:51.640 --> 00:06:55.640 In Numbers, there's only two things that God swears by. 00:06:55.640 --> 00:07:00.640 If you go to Numbers 14, I think, let me just check. 00:07:00.640 --> 00:07:05.640 In Numbers 14, 21, there's only two things God swears by. 00:07:05.640 --> 00:07:15.640 And he's swearing and saying to Israel that two things God swears by is truly as I live. 00:07:15.640 --> 00:07:19.640 So he swears by the fact that he is living. 00:07:19.640 --> 00:07:36.640 And the second thing he swears by is and truly as all the earth will be filled or shall be filled with the glory of the Lord. 00:07:36.640 --> 00:07:41.640 He actually swears by it. It's crazy that he actually swears by it. 00:07:41.640 --> 00:07:46.640 He is so sure it's going to happen that he swears by it. 00:07:46.640 --> 00:07:49.640 He says I swear by two things. 00:07:49.640 --> 00:07:57.640 I swear that as truly as I live and as truly as the earth shall be filled with the glory of God. 00:07:57.640 --> 00:08:00.640 That's what he swears by. 00:08:00.640 --> 00:08:03.640 That's just nuts that this is going to happen. 00:08:03.640 --> 00:08:06.640 It's whether we get to participate in it or not. 00:08:06.640 --> 00:08:15.640 And if you go to the first statement, the earth is filled with the glorious splendor of the Lord of Heaven's armies who is holy. 00:08:15.640 --> 00:08:26.640 And till we begin to try hard and we might have to work hard at it and try to capture this, 00:08:26.640 --> 00:08:31.640 inside you mission may not rise the way it should. 00:08:31.640 --> 00:08:34.640 We'll go on mission trips. 00:08:34.640 --> 00:08:40.640 But here's a lot of the armies of heaven saying, hey church, hey Jacob, 00:08:40.640 --> 00:08:49.640 I just want you to know that my glorious splendor is going to be found in Kabul. 00:08:49.640 --> 00:08:54.640 It's going to be found in North Korea. 00:08:54.640 --> 00:08:56.640 It's going to be found in Richmond. 00:08:56.640 --> 00:09:00.640 It's going to be found on Capitol Hill. 00:09:00.640 --> 00:09:04.640 It's going to be found in Las Vegas. 00:09:04.640 --> 00:09:08.640 It's going to be found in Hong Kong. 00:09:08.640 --> 00:09:21.640 In all these places, my glorious splendor dwells on institutions, dwells on nations, dwells on cities, dwells on towns. 00:09:21.640 --> 00:09:27.640 And this is the glorious splendor not of a compassionate, comforting God, which he is. 00:09:27.640 --> 00:09:31.640 But I want you to know that when I'm talking about my glorious splendor in these places, 00:09:31.640 --> 00:09:38.640 I'm talking about the glorious splendor of the Lord of Heaven's armies. 00:09:38.640 --> 00:09:43.640 As in there's a definitive forceful thing to it. 00:09:43.640 --> 00:09:48.640 That there's nothing namby-pamby about this. 00:09:48.640 --> 00:09:57.640 There's something forceful, conquering, impactful, deliberate about it. 00:09:57.640 --> 00:10:03.640 And then he also says that not only is my glorious splendor in all these places, 00:10:03.640 --> 00:10:11.640 I also want you to know that I, the Lord of Heaven's armies, am holy. 00:10:11.640 --> 00:10:15.640 Because we said holy, holy, holy is the essence of God. 00:10:15.640 --> 00:10:23.640 Glory is the visible presence of holy. 00:10:23.640 --> 00:10:31.640 We saw scriptures last time showing that. 00:10:31.640 --> 00:10:36.640 Any questions? 00:10:36.640 --> 00:10:45.640 So it goes to say that if I'm not too caught up, consumed with holy or glory, 00:10:45.640 --> 00:10:53.640 then this will still happen, but I may not be able to partake of it the way I should. 00:10:53.640 --> 00:10:54.640 That's what it means. 00:10:54.640 --> 00:10:56.640 It has nothing to do with Heaven. 00:10:56.640 --> 00:10:58.640 It has nothing to do with eternal security. 00:10:58.640 --> 00:11:00.640 It's got nothing to do with that. 00:11:00.640 --> 00:11:04.640 It's the ability to partake in what God is going to do. 00:11:04.640 --> 00:11:05.640 He swears by it. 00:11:05.640 --> 00:11:11.640 He's saying, I swear that as truly as the earth shall be filled with the glory of the Lord, 00:11:11.640 --> 00:11:13.640 I swear by it. 00:11:13.640 --> 00:11:20.640 God rarely swears, man, but he swears by it. 00:11:20.640 --> 00:11:25.640 This is why last time we said, if I keep looking at holy actions, I'll keep failing. 00:11:25.640 --> 00:11:26.640 Oh, I've got to act holy. 00:11:26.640 --> 00:11:27.640 I've got to do this. 00:11:27.640 --> 00:11:28.640 I've got to do that. 00:11:28.640 --> 00:11:29.640 You keep doing that, you will fail. 00:11:29.640 --> 00:11:35.640 But if you look at the unfailing one who is holy and you look at him 40 times in an hour, 00:11:35.640 --> 00:11:39.640 every time you forget, you begin to slowly change. 00:11:39.640 --> 00:11:47.640 1 John 1-7 puts it this way, that if I can be surrounded by the light that he dwells in, 00:11:47.640 --> 00:11:50.640 then I will have unbroken fellowship with you. 00:11:50.640 --> 00:11:53.640 And if I sin, I'll be cleansed by the blood of Christ. 00:11:53.640 --> 00:11:54.640 Just listen to it. 00:11:54.640 --> 00:11:56.640 It's beautiful. 00:11:56.640 --> 00:12:04.640 1 John 1-7, if I am surrounded by the light that he lives in, other version says, 00:12:04.640 --> 00:12:05.640 if I walk in the light. 00:12:05.640 --> 00:12:09.640 If I am surrounded by the light that he lives in. 00:12:09.640 --> 00:12:13.640 So the question is, when I say look at him 40 times an hour, 00:12:13.640 --> 00:12:19.640 are we looking at the one who is ridiculously, terrifyingly holy? 00:12:19.640 --> 00:12:21.640 Can we even imagine that? 00:12:21.640 --> 00:12:26.640 Because all we have is the word that we use to not even create an imagination, 00:12:26.640 --> 00:12:28.640 but our spirit imagines. 00:12:28.640 --> 00:12:30.640 Our spirit imagines. 00:12:30.640 --> 00:12:36.640 The mind can create a picture and the picture will be pretty useless. 00:12:36.640 --> 00:12:39.640 It's like a blind man trying to paint the sunrise. 00:12:39.640 --> 00:12:41.640 He might get it, but he may not get it. 00:12:41.640 --> 00:12:43.640 So I'm not trying to create an imagination in my mind, 00:12:43.640 --> 00:12:50.640 but my spirit understands what it is to be before a terrifyingly holy God 00:12:50.640 --> 00:12:55.640 who lives in brilliant light, blinding light. 00:12:55.640 --> 00:12:58.640 And then as you keep looking at him 30, 40 times an hour, 00:12:58.640 --> 00:13:02.640 only inside you, something begins to get stronger and something begins to change 00:13:02.640 --> 00:13:05.640 because you're aligning yourself with perfection. 00:13:13.640 --> 00:13:18.640 My sister used to have this habit of coming into my bedroom when we were kids, 00:13:18.640 --> 00:13:21.640 and she would then put the bedsheets and all in the duvet 00:13:21.640 --> 00:13:23.640 and everything would be tucked and it would be perfect. 00:13:23.640 --> 00:13:24.640 There was only one problem. 00:13:24.640 --> 00:13:26.640 After she did that, I wouldn't be able to sit on it. 00:13:26.640 --> 00:13:30.640 It was so perfect that if I sat on it, there would be creases 00:13:30.640 --> 00:13:34.640 because I'm not exactly light and it would upset her. 00:13:34.640 --> 00:13:37.640 So there'd be this beautiful bed and you can do nothing. 00:13:37.640 --> 00:13:40.640 You just wait till midnight because you desperately want to sleep. 00:13:40.640 --> 00:13:43.640 And so you know how that works, 00:13:43.640 --> 00:13:46.640 but sometimes when you establish a standard of perfection, 00:13:46.640 --> 00:13:48.640 you realize how crooked things can be. 00:13:48.640 --> 00:13:51.640 And as that begins to happen, you straighten out, eh? There's nobody like Him, eh? 00:14:37.640 --> 00:14:39.640 No other. 00:14:39.640 --> 00:14:42.640 It's His distinctness. I know we talked about this last time, 00:14:42.640 --> 00:14:46.640 but we need to hear this because we understand Holy as 00:14:46.640 --> 00:14:49.640 He's really a million times better than us. 00:14:49.640 --> 00:14:50.640 That's not Holy. 00:14:50.640 --> 00:14:53.640 We understand Holy as moral conduct. 00:14:53.640 --> 00:14:56.640 Initially, when God began to establish this principle of Holy, 00:14:56.640 --> 00:14:58.640 it had nothing to do with moral conduct. 00:14:58.640 --> 00:15:01.640 It was that, guys, I am so separate, so transcendent, 00:15:01.640 --> 00:15:03.640 so set apart, so not like you. 00:15:03.640 --> 00:15:06.640 Even though I made you in my image, I can make you innocent, 00:15:06.640 --> 00:15:09.640 I can make you pure, but you cannot possess what I am, 00:15:09.640 --> 00:15:12.640 not what I have, what I am. 00:15:12.640 --> 00:15:14.640 And I am Holy. 00:15:14.640 --> 00:15:18.640 And so the only way that you partake in it is by me dying, 00:15:18.640 --> 00:15:20.640 me rising up again, and me coming living in you, 00:15:20.640 --> 00:15:23.640 and that alone can make you Holy. 00:15:27.640 --> 00:15:30.640 And so there's this distinctness about Him. 00:15:35.640 --> 00:15:37.640 And that's how 2 Peter starts. 00:15:37.640 --> 00:15:39.640 2 Peter, how does it start? 00:15:39.640 --> 00:15:41.640 It's so amazing what God is giving us. 00:15:41.640 --> 00:15:46.640 2 Peter starts with this statement that God has given us precious promises 00:15:46.640 --> 00:15:53.640 so that we may partake of His nature, that we may partake of it, 00:15:53.640 --> 00:15:57.640 that we may partake of Holy. 00:15:57.640 --> 00:16:05.640 And so one of the things we need to understand is that God is passionate about, 00:16:05.640 --> 00:16:16.640 God is passionate about His glory and His holiness. 00:16:16.640 --> 00:16:22.640 He's passionate about it, as in it is important to Him to make it known. 00:16:22.640 --> 00:16:31.640 It is important to Him to make it known. 00:16:36.640 --> 00:16:45.640 Any of us do that, it'll be proud, self-exalting, full of ourselves. 00:16:45.640 --> 00:16:47.640 But when God does that, and we'll talk about why, 00:16:47.640 --> 00:16:51.640 we talked about it in September last year, but we'll see that again. 00:16:51.640 --> 00:16:54.640 He is passionate about His glory. 00:16:54.640 --> 00:16:58.640 And the only way, yeah, He is passionate about His glory, 00:16:58.640 --> 00:17:00.640 He's passionate about His holiness. 00:17:00.640 --> 00:17:02.640 It is important to Him to make it known. 00:17:02.640 --> 00:17:03.640 It is important to Him. 00:17:03.640 --> 00:17:09.640 Until I realize how important it is to Him to make it known, 00:17:09.640 --> 00:17:13.640 I will probably just do it whenever an opportunity presents. 00:17:13.640 --> 00:17:15.640 I won't otherwise. 00:17:15.640 --> 00:17:19.640 It is important to Him to make it known. 00:17:24.640 --> 00:17:25.640 Just think of that for a second, eh? 00:17:25.640 --> 00:17:28.640 Don't wonder, it's not too complicated. 00:17:28.640 --> 00:17:34.640 It is important to God to make His glory and His holiness known. 00:17:34.640 --> 00:17:35.640 It is important to Him. 00:17:35.640 --> 00:17:38.640 It's the most important thing in His life. 00:17:38.640 --> 00:17:40.640 We come up with stuff like, 00:17:40.640 --> 00:17:42.640 you are the most important thing in God's heart. 00:17:42.640 --> 00:17:44.640 We teach the kids that. 00:17:44.640 --> 00:17:48.640 Kids, Jesus thinks you're the most important person. 00:17:48.640 --> 00:17:50.640 Not really true. 00:17:50.640 --> 00:17:54.640 The most important thing in God is His holy and His glory, 00:17:54.640 --> 00:17:57.640 because that is what is going to save those kids. 00:17:59.640 --> 00:18:03.640 It was not, above all, thought of me above all in that song. 00:18:03.640 --> 00:18:05.640 He wasn't thinking of me. 00:18:05.640 --> 00:18:08.640 He was thinking of His son, who He said is beloved. 00:18:08.640 --> 00:18:12.640 You know, in John 17, what is Jesus' prayer in John 17? 00:18:12.640 --> 00:18:14.640 Listen to Jesus' prayer. 00:18:14.640 --> 00:18:16.640 Oh God, the time has come. 00:18:16.640 --> 00:18:19.640 Now, Father, glorify Your son, 00:18:19.640 --> 00:18:23.640 so that the son may glorify Your, glorify the Father. 00:18:23.640 --> 00:18:26.640 And who did this glory happen through? 00:18:26.640 --> 00:18:28.640 Through the glorious Holy Spirit. 00:18:28.640 --> 00:18:31.640 It's like a conspiracy between the Father, Son and the Holy Spirit. 00:18:31.640 --> 00:18:34.640 Jesus is praying in John 17, 1, and what does He pray? 00:18:34.640 --> 00:18:39.640 Father, glorify Your son, so that the Son may glorify the Father. 00:18:39.640 --> 00:18:41.640 And what's the method? What's the means? 00:18:41.640 --> 00:18:43.640 The Holy Spirit. 00:18:45.640 --> 00:18:47.640 Why is this important? 00:18:47.640 --> 00:18:51.640 I'll give you scriptures that show, and you can go check them at home. 00:18:51.640 --> 00:18:53.640 I gave you these scriptures in September. 00:18:53.640 --> 00:18:55.640 It's worth... 00:18:55.640 --> 00:19:09.640 God is intent on preserving and displaying His glory. 00:19:09.640 --> 00:19:16.640 And we said that glory is basically the holiness of God. 00:19:17.640 --> 00:19:19.640 Gone public. 00:19:21.640 --> 00:19:23.640 God is intent on preserving and displaying His glory. 00:19:23.640 --> 00:19:25.640 Go check out these scriptures. 00:19:25.640 --> 00:19:27.640 Exodus 14, 4. 00:19:29.640 --> 00:19:31.640 Deuteronomy 5, 24. 00:19:31.640 --> 00:19:36.640 The reason I'm giving you all these scriptures is just to show how important this is to Him. 00:19:36.640 --> 00:19:39.640 1 Chronicles 29, 11. 00:19:40.640 --> 00:19:42.640 Psalm 19, 1. 00:19:44.640 --> 00:19:46.640 Psalm 24, 8. 00:19:47.640 --> 00:19:49.640 Isaiah 6, 3. 00:19:51.640 --> 00:19:53.640 Isaiah 42, 8. 00:19:55.640 --> 00:19:57.640 Habakkuk 2, 14. 00:19:59.640 --> 00:20:01.640 John 17, 24. 00:20:03.640 --> 00:20:05.640 2 Corinthians 3, 18. 00:20:07.640 --> 00:20:09.640 2 Corinthians 4, 4. 00:20:10.640 --> 00:20:12.640 Hebrews 1, 3. 00:20:13.640 --> 00:20:16.640 2 Peter 1, 3. 00:20:17.640 --> 00:20:19.640 And 17. 00:20:19.640 --> 00:20:23.640 Revelations 15, 4. 00:20:23.640 --> 00:20:25.640 And 21, 23. 00:20:27.640 --> 00:20:31.640 If you have the time, and I pray God that you have the time, go check these out. 00:20:31.640 --> 00:20:35.640 I've read each of them, and it's fascinating how from the beginning to the end, 00:20:35.640 --> 00:20:42.640 one of the things that God wants to make sure that we understand is that He loves preserving and displaying His glory. 00:20:42.640 --> 00:20:44.640 He loves preserving and displaying His glory. 00:20:45.640 --> 00:20:47.640 He makes His glory visible, eh? 00:20:47.640 --> 00:20:50.640 He makes His glory visible through creation in the morning. 00:20:50.640 --> 00:20:53.640 He makes His glory known through the sunrise. 00:20:53.640 --> 00:20:57.640 You could read Psalm 19, it'll tell you how creation declares His glory. 00:20:57.640 --> 00:20:59.640 He makes you know His glory through the baby in the womb. 00:20:59.640 --> 00:21:02.640 He makes you know His glory through presence. 00:21:02.640 --> 00:21:05.640 He makes you know His glory through a billion things in the next hour. 00:21:05.640 --> 00:21:07.640 Through His people, through this teaching. 00:21:07.640 --> 00:21:10.640 He is constantly doing two things. 00:21:10.640 --> 00:21:11.640 Doing two things. 00:21:11.640 --> 00:21:13.640 Hey, I want to display my glory. 00:21:13.640 --> 00:21:15.640 And here's why. 00:21:15.640 --> 00:21:17.640 Why does He do it? 00:21:17.640 --> 00:21:30.640 Because there's nothing that radiates beauty like His glory. 00:21:30.640 --> 00:21:33.640 As in, it's His glory that makes everything beautiful. 00:21:33.640 --> 00:21:39.640 It is His glory that makes things true and new. 00:21:40.640 --> 00:21:42.640 It's His glory that restores. 00:21:44.640 --> 00:21:48.640 It's His glory that separates good from evil. 00:21:52.640 --> 00:21:55.640 It's His glory that perfects things. 00:21:58.640 --> 00:22:00.640 It's His glory that saves. 00:22:02.640 --> 00:22:06.640 It's His glory that will be made evident at the end. 00:22:10.640 --> 00:22:13.640 To hide His glory is a terrible word. 00:22:13.640 --> 00:22:15.640 You know what the word is?
